THE DASHBOARD INFORMATION CENTER WILL STATE "STARTING DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE" ALSO ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND "SERVICE STABLITRAK." A NEW THROTTLE HAS BEEN PUT IN VEHICLE AND STILL DOES SAME THING. OVER THE YEAR IVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE IVE NOTICED IT DOES IT MORE IN WARM WEATHER. AFTER VEHICLE COAST TO A STOP AND IS PUT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF, WAIT 5 TO 10 MINUTES THEN VEHICLE WILL START UP AND NO INFORMATION OR LIGHTS DISPLAY IN DASH CENTER, LIKE IT NEVER HAPPENED.

SENSORS CAN BE SET OFF WITH AS LITTLE EFFORT AS GENTLY ROCKING THE CAR, DEFINITELY GOING OFF IF THERE ARE ANY BUMPS OR POTHOLES IN THE ROAD. ALSO HAD OTHER ANNOYING ALTHOUGH LESS DANGEROUS ISSUES: DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS AND HEATING/AC ACTUATOR, CAUSING DOOR LOCKS TO NOT RESPOND AND CAUSING A HORRIBLE CLICKING NOISE IN THE CAR, RESPECTIVELY. I HAVE WALKED AWAY FROM THE CAR THINKING I HAD LOCKED IT ONLY TO FIND ONE OR MORE OF THE DOORS DID NOT LOCK. ACTUALLY HAD ITEMS TAKEN FROM THE CAR. THE CLICKING NOISE FROM UNDER THE DASH WAS SPORADIC, USUALLY UPON STARTING THE CAR, BUT OCCASIONALLY WHILE DRIVING WITH NO NOTICE. THIS EAR SPLITTING, HEADACHE INDUCING NOISE WOULD FOR THE MOST PART STOP AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF DRIVING, BUT WOULD SOMETIMES CONTINUE AFTER THE CAR WAS SHUT OFF AND WOULD DRAIN THE BATTERY. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THROUGHOUT THE CAR IS HORRIBLE.

IN ADDITION TO THAT, MY ABS INDICATOR BEGAN GOING ON AND OFF AND HAS CAUSED MY CAR TO FEEL AS IF IT WAS ON A HYDROPLANE MODE. WHEN IT TURNS ON IT OCCASIONALLY MAKES MY CAR JERK ON THE ROAD. I WENT TO AN AUTO SUPPLY STORE FOR DIAGNOSIS AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO READING SO NOTHING WAS WRONG, DEALERSHIP SAID THE SAME. THE LIGHT SHUT OFF AND IT WAS LIKE DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN. ALSO, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE DOOR ACTUATORS AT LEAST ONE TO TWO TIMES A YEAR BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO BREAK. FINALLY, MY NEW BATTERIES THE LAST FEW OF YEARS HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DRAINED FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND I HAD TO REPLACE IT SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO DAMAGED BATTERIES EVEN THOUGH I REPLACE IT WITH BRAND NEW CAR BATTERIES.

BRAKES: THREE SETS OF BRAKES ON VEHICLE SINCE FEBRUARY 2015. EVERYTIME VEHICLE GOES TO MECHANIC THEY STATE THAT ROTORS ARE SEVERELY WARPED. ELECTRICAL: HAVING ISSUES WITH ABS TRACTION CONTROL. THIS IS CAUSING REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHEN TURNING. WHEN CROSSING A MAIN INTERSECTIONS THE CAR COASTS ACROSS ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ACTUATORS AND WIRING TO MANY VEHICLE COMPONENTS HAVING ONGOING ISSUES. AIR CONDITIONER, DOORS, DOOR LOCKS, RELAYS THE MAIN ISSUE I AM HAVING IS NON OPERATIONAL DOORS LOCKS IN VEHICLE. I HAVE TO CRAW THROUGH THE CAR TO OPEN THE DOOR LOCKS. THIS PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS AND THEN THE CAR STARTED A NEW ONE WITH A NO CRANK, NO START PROBLEM WHICH WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN YOU WOULD GET UP TO THREE WARNING LIGHTS, (SERVICE TABLE TRAC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, AND SERVICE AIR BAGS) WITH TIME THE NO CRANK, NO START PROBLEM KEPT COMING AND GOING AND THE ONLY LIGHT THAT CAME ON WHEN IT WOULDN'T CRANK OR START WAS THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT. IF YOU KEPT TRYING TO START IT AFTER 3 TO 30 TIMES IT WOULD START AND RUN FINE AND MAY NOT ACT UP AGAIN FOR 1 DAY OR EVEN UP TO A WEEK. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO I HAD MY WIFE SWITCH CARS WITH ME AS THIS WAS THE CAR SHE DROVE TO WORK DAILY AND I DIDN'T WANT HER TO GET STRANDED. I AM SO GLAD I DID THAT AS THE VERY FIRST DAY I DROVE IT TO WORK ON MY WAY HOME WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SHUT OFF FOR NO REASON AND THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON, I LOST MY POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES AND AGAIN I COULD HAVE BEEN IN VERY BIG TROUBLE IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN I WAS TRYING TO PASS ANOTHER CAR AND I DON'T THINK THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY WITH THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT ON. I REPORTED THE TO CHEVROLET AND THEY TOLD ME TRYING TO FIX IT WOULD BE AT MY COST SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE LOCAL DEALER AND FOUND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR 3 DAYS TO FIND A NO CRANK, NO START ON A CORVET WITH NO LUCK.

CAR IS CURRENTLY AT 134K MILES AND JUST GAVE ME A "REDUCED POWER ENGINE", "CHECK TRACTION CONTROL", AND A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. I GOOGLED AROUND AND CAME ACROSS A LOT OF CHEVY IMPALAS AROUND THE SAME YEAR (07-10) ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING WITH THE "ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITIONER PEDAL SENSOR. ALSO READING INTO IT, IT CLAIMS THAT THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO SUDDENLY STOP FROM 60MPH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO 20 OR ZERO. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED.

I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE AND HAD TO INITIATE MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND WAIT FOR THE TRACTOR TRAILER TO PASS ME SO I COULD MOVE THE CAR OVER TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER. AS THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY SHUTOFF AND WAS JUST COASTING, I HAD TO FIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL TO CONTROL THE CAR. I FEEL LIKE HAD MY SITUATION WAS JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT, THE CAR COULD HAVE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSTATE WITH CARS TRAVELING 70+ MPH AND POSSIBLY CAUSED A CRASH. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR AND THAT REMEDIED THE SITUATION FOR A COUPLE MONTHS. I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT AND ONCE IT TURNED GREEN BOOM CAR DIED DUE TO TRACTION CONTROL. SO NOW I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF A VERY BUSY ROAD WITH TRAFFIC GOING AROUND 45 MPH ALMOST REAR ENDING ME. I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AGAIN FOR 45 SECONDS STARTED THE CAR AND GOT INTO THE PARKING LOT WHICH WAS NOW 50 FEET FROM ME. I SEARCHED ONLINE FOR WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS AND THAT'S WHERE I FOUND AT LEAST 50 OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AND TRYING TO GET GM TO HELP. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO DO MY JOB IF I CAN NOT GET FROM PLACE TO PLACE SAFELY. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO KILL PEOPLE.

THUS, THE CAR WAS AGAIN SERVICED AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY, JULY 31. BY AUGUST 1, THE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" LIGHT BLINKED ON AND THEN WENT OFF QUICKLY. IT DID THE SAME THING ONE TIME ON AUGUST 2ND. TODAY, AUGUST 3RD, THE LIGHT WENT OFF THREE TIMES IN A SHORT DRIVE AND IS ONCE AGAIN STUCK ON. I'M VERY WORRIED THAT THE REDUCED ENGINE SPEED WILL RETURN WHEN I AM ON A HIGHWAY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY GM OR THEY WOULDN'T HAVE ISSUED A SPECIAL CONDITION. SINCE WE HAVE HAD THIS CAR WE ARE CONSTANTLY HAVING STABILITY TRACT CONTROL SENSORS. WE HAVE REPLACE THEM ONCE AND IT IS SHOWING UP AGAIN. WHEN THE STABILITY TRACT CONTROL GOES BAD THEN THE ABS AND BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT ALSO COMES ON ALONG WITH IT. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AS I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THESE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR IMPALAS.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC GOING APPROXIMATELY 65 PER HOUR AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON AND THEN SAID THAT ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED. IT ALSO HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND STAYED ON ALL THE WAY HOME. I THEN GOT HOME SAFELY THAT TIME AND SHUT OFF THE CAR ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER WENT OUT AND ALL LIGHTS HAD GONE OFF AND WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST A DOZEN TIMES SINCE THEN. THEN ON 6/29/15 THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. HOWEVER THIS TIME THE CAR SAID THROTTLE DISABLED AND THE CAR SHUT OFF COMPLETELY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND I HAD TO TRY AND GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INCIDENT. AFTER ABOUT 10 OR 15 MINUTES THE CAR THEN STARTED BACK UP AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUT AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. THEN LATER IN THE DAY I RETURNED HOME AND TRIED TO LEAVE IN MY CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START AND HAD NO POWER WHAT SO EVER. THE KEY ALSO WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION AND I JUST HAD THAT RECALL DEALT WITH ON THE KEY. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN THIS LAST INCIDENT. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND GM NEEDS TO PAY FOR WHAT I AM OUT OF POCKET BECAUSE I NOW HAD TO GET A RENTAL CAR TO WORK. I ENDED UP HAVING TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DRIVE (VERY SLOWLY) BACK TO MY HOUSE. NOT SURE IF IT WILL BE SAFE TO DRIVE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE ADDRESSED. I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL HUBS AND THROTTLE PEDAL SENSOR IN THE PAST FEW YEARS IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT. THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT ISSUE UNTIL RECENTLY AND EVEN AFTER HAVING IT FIXED BY A CERTIFIED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, THE ISSUE OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS MOST RECENT INCIDENT COULD HAVE ENDED IN SERIOUS INJURY HAD I NOT BEEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO NOT HAVE ANY CARS IMMEDIATELY AROUND ME. THEY TOOK THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS OFF AND PUT ELECTRICAL GREASE ON TO KEEP MOISTURE OUT. THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I STILL HAVE THE STABILITRAK LIGHT TO COME ON AND GAUGES NOT TO WORK. FUEL SYSTEM 2 IS OL, LIFT AT 0%, SPARK PLUG 13.5, FUEL LEVEL LOW 38.8, ECU 14.417, LOW ACCELERATION. CONTACTED LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WILL COST $35 TO TOW IT TO THEIR SHOP AND ABOUT $85 JUST TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON THEIR MACHINE. IF IT IS A LIFTER THE COST WILL BE OVER $700 TO GET FIXED. I PURCHASED THIS AUTOMOBILE IN AUGUST 2013 AND HAVE JUST HAD IT A YEAR. SO NOW I HAVE A CAR PAYMENT ON A CAR THAT DOESN'T RUN. THIS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. CAR WENT INTO REDUCED POWER MODE AND FINALLY DIED WHILE STILL MOVING. THERE ARE TWO SENSORS WHICH HAVE TO AGREE AND IF THEY DON'T CAR WILL GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. WHEN SHE GOT HOME I FOUND ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAVE IN THE PAST MOVED THE WIRES ON THE BRAKE FLUID SENSOR TO GET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO GO OFF. NOT KNOWING EXACTLY HOW ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT SYSTEMS ARE TIED TOGETHER, I TEND TO THINK THAT THE CARS COMPUTER IS THE PROBLEM WHICH SETS OFF ALL THE DIFFERENT WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR ASKED IF THIS WAS A RECALL ISSUE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS SOME WHAT STRANGE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I REC'D THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES: SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER. THE ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ALSO CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO GO APPROX 50-55 MPH. I WAS VERY LUCKY THAT I WAS NEAR AN EXIT. AS I WAS EXITING, A MESSAGE CAME ON TELLING ME THAT THE POWER WAS BEING TURNED OFF OR STOPPED. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE EXACT WORDS. I THEN HAD NO ABILITY TO ACCELERATE AND MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. EVEN THOUGH I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE SIDE, IT WAS NOT IN A SAFE PLACE AND TRAFFIC WAS GOING BY AT THE SPEED OF 55-60 MPH AND I WAS BARELY OVER THE WHITE LINE. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK, AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC. THIS HAPPENED AT 4:15 ON A FRIDAY AFTERNOON. MY MECHANIC DIDN'T LOOK AT IT UNTIL MONDAY AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. HE DROVE IT ALL OVER AND HE CHECKED EVERYTHING HE COULD THINK OF. I TRUST THIS MECHANIC. HE DID SAY THAT HE WAS AFRAID HE WOULD HAVE TO SEND ME TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. I CAME HOME, GOOGLED THE PROBLEMS AND ENDED UP AT EDMUNDS.COM IN A FORUM FOR CHEVY OWNERS WITH THIS ISSUE. WHILE NO ONE WAS HURT THIS TIME, THAT IS JUST A BLESSING. HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL NEED TO BE HURT, MAIMED OR EVEN KILLED BEFORE THEY ISSUE A RECALL AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT A PROBLEM THAT IS VERY OBVIOUS. HOW MUCH MONEY AND TIME WILL I SPEND TAKING THIS TO A DEALER WHO DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WON'T DIAGNOSE IT CORRECTLY THE FIRST TIME? AMERICA WANTS AMERICANS TO BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCTS. I OWNED A FOREIGN VEHICLE FOR 9 YEARS AND IT NEVER LEFT ME STRANDED THE WAY THIS CHEVROLET IMPALA DID AFTER OWNING IT FOR 7 MONTHS! I THINK IT IS PAST TIME SOMETHING WAS DONE. ALL CHEVROLET IMPALAS DATING BACK TO 2002-2009 HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS. THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND THE VEHICLE SLOWS IMMEDIATELY. TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON 2 LANE ROAD, CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED THEN VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. LIGHTS AND RADIO WORKED BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES VEHICLE CRANKED AND STARTED AND WAS DRIVABLE. TOOK TO CHEVROLET DEALER WHO MADE REPAIRS BY REPLACING 24 TERMINALS. VERBALLY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS CORROSION ON WIRES ON THIS 2 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH BARELY 60,000 MILES. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON A MULTILANE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY SHUTTING DOWN LIKE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS. *TR
