After about ten minutes, the contact was unlocking the vehicle and noticed fire inside the vehicle near the front of the vehicle near the radio and heater. The contact used a water bottle from the back seat to attempt to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished by a bystander using a fire extinguisher. There were no warning lights prior to the failure. There were no reported injuries. There was no police report filed, airbag deployment, or crash involved. The vehicle was towed to her residence. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted, who opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 188,000.

The contact stated that the grinding sound persisted after turning off the vehicle on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where unknown actuators located behind the dashboard were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was not repaired. About a week ago I got in my car and started driving. as I started going down the road the passengers side alarm for the seatbelt kept going off and I noticed the passenger side airbag had turned on as well. I was in my car alone and had nothing sitting in the passengers seat nor a passenger in my car. That was the first time it lasted my whole drive to work (about 13 miles) but made me think of past times my vehicle had done that as well A few weeks before that the same thing happened and I had to connect the seatbelt to make it stop. I didn’t think much of it at first and thought it was a one-off kinda thing till it became a pattern of sorts. This morning I started my car and the dash kept telling me to “service airbags” I just bought my vehicle from national auto sales in Spokane Washington the previous February of this year (2022) and only drive to work (13 miles) and back for the most part. Seeing the “service airbag” light on in my car was concerning because I don’t know what that means. As I looked further into things I found a recall for my vehicle for the passenger side airbags malfunctioning, recall #36110 to replace wiring in the seat. So I called GM and they couldn’t find a recall for my vehicle. I then called Knudtsen Chevrolet in post falls Idaho expecting it to get taken care of. The guy from the service department looked up my VIN and told me my vehicle had already been serviced in the past for this passenger side airbag recall issue at another dealership and the work had already been completed and closed so there was nothing they would be willing to do except make an appointment and pay 145.00$ for them to diagnose the situation. I explained that the recall was for the very same thing that’s happening in my vehicle right now and that was unsafe if my airbags were malfunctioning. That if they fixed it in the past why am I dealing with that exact recall issue with my airbags now? I don’t have money to pay for something that was supposed to be fixed
there is a known issue with the shift lock release. the cable will fail in many 2006-2013 impala's. the vehicle will not get out of park. another well known issue is the blend door actuator. it is a noise that comes from the dash/heating/cooling due to chevy using cheap plastic parts.
Service stabilitrak message displayed and reduced engine power to 0 mph while driving. Throttle body, Accelerator pedal position sensor (whole pedal assembly), and ecm replaced. Issue continues. P2138, P2122, P2127 codes present. Stonebriar chevrolet incompetent to resolve.

SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING AN "ENGINE REDUCED" WARNING WILL POP UP AND WHEN IT DOES SO, THE CAR LIMITS THE AMOUNT OF POWER APPLIED WHEN ACCELERATING. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND SIT A FEW MINUTES BEFORE IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL.

THE DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED THAT THERE ARE 11 CODES IN THE VEHICLE SYSTEM. THESE CODES RANGED FROM PASSKEY SYSTEM FAILURES TO EVAP CODES TO TRANSMISSION. SUSPECTED FAILURE OF WIRING HARNESS ALTOGETHER WITH POSSIBLE BCM/CAM FAILURE AS WELL. DURING BATTERY TEST THERE WAS A REGULAR DROP IN VOLTAGE WHILE CONNECTED TO THE SCANNER REFLECTING A DRAIN IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM THAT COULD FURTHER BE CAUSING AN ISSUE. CODES ARE P0513 , P0523 , P0700 , P2122 , P0411, P0449 ,P0455. WHEN DRIVING STABILITRACK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND STABILITRACK TRACTION CONTROL. SOMETIMES THE CAR SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK , I'D W OK OLD HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY OR STREET AND POP THE HOOD JUST TO GET THE CAR STARTED AGAIN.
THE TRANSMISSION GO OUT AT ANY TIME WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING IT'LL JUST STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THE COMPANY CHEVROLET NEW THAT THEY PUT BAD TRANSMISSION IN THOSE CARS AND LIGHTS BLINK ON AND OFF. ELECTRICAL ISSUE THE SPEEDOMETER AND THE GAS METER IN MOVES BY ITSELF WHEN THE CAR IS OFF AND WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE CAR IT'LL MOVE BY ITSELF DISPLAYING ACCURATE INFORMATION AND THAT'S VERY DANGEROUS I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY IN THE TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT IN CARS ALMOST RAN INTO ME I LIKE TO BUY THAT DAY BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION EVERYBODY I KNOW WITH THIS CAR HAS THE SAME ISSUE SOMETHING REALLY NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT IT BEFORE SOMEONE DIES

THE DEALER DID NOT SPECIFY WHEN THE OTHER THREE ACTUATORS WOULD POTENTIALLY FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE NO START ISSUE WAS BELIEVED TO BE OCCURRING AFTER CAR WAS BROUGHT THROUGH CAR WASH DURING VERY COLD TEMPS OUTSIDE, BUT THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE NOW. NOW IT STARTS SOMETIMES AND WILL NOT START AT OTHER TIMES.

THIS APPEARS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH GM RECALL #36110. CONTACTED GM FOR FURTHER ACTION AND WAS TOLD THIS VEHICLE NOT INCLUDED WITH RECALL DESPITE SAME ISSUE AS DESCRIBED FOR RECALL. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAPPENS WITH ADULT FRONT PASSENGER, NOT WHILE SEAT IS EMPTY, AND WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.

THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER QUIT WORKING. MY SHOP FOUND THAT THE DEFOGGER HAD LOST ITS GROUND FUNCTION IN THE FUSE BLOCK IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FUSE BLOCK HAD TO BE REPLACED IN ITS ENTIRETY COSTING OVER 200 DOLLARS. I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHEN THE DEFOGGER FAILED.

AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE CAR WENT INTO SHUTDOWN MODE. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER READ, TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM FAILURE, AND A FEW OTHER THINGS THAT I DID NOT GET TO READ BECAUSE I WAS WATCHING THE ROAD. AFTER A FEW MINUTES I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR BACK HOME AND A FEW MONTHS LATER IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I WENT TO EDMUNDS FORUM AND THERE ARE DOZENS OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK AND I WAS DOING 55 MPH,AND THE CAR STARTED TO HESITATE,AND THE DASHBOARD INFO READ STABILITRAC, ENGINE SAFTY MOD, AND REDUCED POWER. THEN THE CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN,AND WHEN I TRIED TO GIVE IT SOME GAS THE ENGINE STARTED TO KNOCK,AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE WENT ALL THE WAY UP TO THE TOP. I PULLED OVER AND SHUT THE CAR OFF,AND OPENED THE HOOD, AND IT WASN'T EVEN OVER HEATING. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES I STARTED IT UP AND WENT ABOUT FIVE HUNDRED FEET AND IT DID IT AGAIN.

MY SERVICE AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT HAD BEEN ON SINCE I PURCHASED MY CAR A YEAR AGO, I AM GOING TO SELL IT BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO SELL IT WITH SOMETHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH SAFETY BEING QUESTIONABLE. I DROVE IT TO AUTO NATION YESTERDAY JUNE 11TH TO SEE IF IT WAS A RECALL. THEY SAID THERE HASN'T BEEN ONE. I DROVE IT HOME AND STARTED SEARCHING ONLINE FOR POSSIBLE PROBLEMS WITH IT AND THERE WERE SO MANY POSTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. I SEARCHED UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT I READ TO DO AND LOW AND BEHOLD ALL TYPES OF WIRES UNDER IT ARE COMPLETELY SEVERED AND TORN UP. I WAS GOING TO FIX THIS MYSELF BUT I REALLY DON'T WANT TO BE HELD LIABLE IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR INJURY. THIS MUST BE FIXED AND IT'S MY BELIEF THAT IT'S CAUSED BY THE VEHICLE DESIGN. PLEASE HOLD CHEVROLET RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS REPAIR AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR BOTH THE PASSENGER AND POSSIBLY EVERYONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR LOOKING INTO THIS. I ALSO BELIEVE THAT WHEN A PERSON CALLS A DEALER TELLING THEN EXACTLY WHAT THEY FOUND D (I CALLED LENLYLE ON COLFAX AND SABLE IN AURORA, CO. AND EXPLAINED TO THEN MY FINDINGS AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR. THEY SHOULD DIRECT A PERSON TO YOU GUYS WHEN SOMETHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH SAFETY IS FOUND TO BE DEFECTIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A REQUIREMENT THAT THEY CONTACT YOU DOT AS WELL AS OFFER A REPAIR IMEDIATELY AND CONSIDER THEMSELVES LUCKY THAT SOMEONE WASN'T KILLED BECAUSE A PERSON CAME TO THEM WITH THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF TRYING TO DO THE REPAIR THEMSELVES.

MY WIRING ON MY PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR IS FAULTY! IT SOMETIMES DETECTS RANDOMLY THAT SOMEONES THERE, WHEN NOBODY IS THERE AND THUS TURNS THE AIRBAGS ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY. I HAVE TO KEEP THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLED, OTHERWISE IT WILL MESS UP MY SENSORS. I'VE HAD MY AIRBAGS SHUT OFF AND A NOTIFICATION APPEAR BEFORE SO IT'S QUITE SCARY AND DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD. I KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN RECALL, BUT I BELIEVE SINCE I HAVE A "POLICE PACKAGE" A RECALL FOR MY CAR WAS NEVER INITIATED, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS THE PROBLEM.

ABOUT AN HOUR LATER I TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE. THEN AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. IT ONLY COMES ON WHEN THE PASSENGER SEAT BEAT IS CLICKED ON. AND MY DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR AUTO LOCK STOPPED WORKING.

A RECENT PROBLEM WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER HAS UNFOLDED A PROBLEM WITH A WIRING HARNESS THAT POWERS THE WINDOW. GM NEVER INSTALLED A FUSE ON THE REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER CAUSING THE WIRE TO HEAT UP AND BURN AWAY THE SLOT IT SITS IN ON THE WIRE HARNESS. INSPECTING MY WIRE HARNESS, THE HEAT FROM THE WIRE HAS MELTED ALMOST ENTIRELY THROUGH THE CONNECTOR WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS AND LIKELY TO CAUSE A FIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR UNDERNEATH THE CARPET AND FUSE PANEL.

I HAVE A 2010 CHEVY IMPALA LT WITH 90K+ MILES ON IT. I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2011 USED WITH 40K+ MILES ON IT, SO THE CAR IS NO LONGER COVERED THROUGH WARRANTY. ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE STABILITRAC, ETC. I'M A FULL TIME COLLEGE STUDENT, AND A FULL TIME UBER DRIVER. LAST NIGHT I WAS WITH A PASSENGER ON [XXX] TOWARDS O'HARE AIRPORT. MY CAR REDUCED SPEED AND SUDDENLY DROPPED SPEED FROM 70MPH DOWN TO 50MPH. AS I TURNED ON THE EMERGENCY LIGHT AND START STEERING TO THE RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER I WAS IN THE THIRD LANE TO THE RIGHT (THE EXPRESSWAY IS 4 LANES) AS I WAS TURNING TO THE RIGHT TO GET ONTO THE SHOULDER AND TO GET TO SAFETY MY STEERING LOCKS, AND THERE WAS A RECKLESS DRIVER GOING 100MPH TRYING TO CUT OFF TRAFFIC. THE LANES TO THE LEFT WERE BLOCKED SO HE HAD TO CUT ME OFF BY OVERTAKING ME BY GOING ONTO THE SHOULDER. HE DAMAGED HIS RIGHT REARVIEW MIRROR AND PROBABLY SCRAPPED THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS CAR PULLING OFF THAT RECKLESS STUNT. HAD I DELAYED THE BREAKING FOR A SECOND I WOULDN'T BE ALIVE MAKING THIS POST TODAY. LUCKILY I TURNED THE CAR OFF, WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND TOOK THE NEARBY [XXX], AND WAITED WITH MY PASSENGER AT THE NEARBY TARGET PARKING LOT FOR THE NEXT UBER DRIVER TO PICK UP MY PASSENGER AND GET HER SAFELY TO THE AIRPORT. SOME DEALERS HAVE SUGGESTED LEAVING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION SWITCH AND UNLOCKING AND LOCKING THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB. MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING NORTH ON PA ROUTE 15. WE WERE ON SPEED CONTROL AT 55 MPH. AN ERROR SIGNAL APPEARED ON THE DASH BOARD SAYING SERVICE TRAKCONTROL A FEW SECONDS LATER A SIGNAL SAID--- LOSING ENGINE POWER. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SOMEWHAT NARROW SHOULDER IN A FEW SECONDS BEFORE THE ENGINE DIED. I COULD NOT START THE CAR. A CALLED AAA AND AFTER 45 MINUTES WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE IN DILLSBURG. JUST BEFORE THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR. THE MECHANIC TRIED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND COULD NOT. I DECIDED TO DRIVE ON TO MY DESTINATION IN. NJ THE ERROR SIGNALS APPEARED ONCE MORE BUT I WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A SERVICE STATION AND SIT. I RESTARTED CAR AND DROVE TO MY DESTINATION. LUCKILY I PULLED INTO A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND THE CAR RESET AFTER SITTING FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. THIS WARNING LIGHT AND THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE BUT I NEVER LOST COMPLETE POWER TO THE ENGINE AND STEERING LIGHT UNTIL TODAY. THE REAR DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE I DISCOVER THE ELECTRICAL HARNESS CONNECTORS HOLDING THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER(AND ALL OTHER WIRES) IS BURNT., THE ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS ARE HARNESSES FOR WIRING LEADING FORM THE ENGINE AREA, TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FOR ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE REAR DEFROSTER. VISIBLY YOU CAN SEE THE AREA THAT IS BURNT FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE WIRING FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER IS NOT FUSED, AND IN MY OPINION IS A FIRE HAZARD. WHILE DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE I DISCOVER THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THESE ISSUES, AND IS VERY PROMINENT IN IMPALA'S BETWEEN 2006 AND UP. WITH OUT A FUSE FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER THERE IS NO SAFETY MECHANISM PREVENTING A SHORT, OR BURN OUT OF THE COMPONENTS, THUS CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR A FIRE INSIDE THE COMPARTMENT OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE REAR DEFROST NOT TO WORK. *TR

I CALLED ANOTHER CHEVROLET DEALER IN ANOTHER COUNTY CLOSE BY AND THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS CLOSED ON SATURDAY. SO THEREFORE I HAVE HAD TO EITHER LEAVE MY VEHICLE RUNNING, LOOSEN THE BATTERY CABLES OR BE CLOSE BY TO ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT CAN GIVE ME A JUMP.
