TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATE WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED HESITATING. THE CONTACT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT CHANGE THROTTLE BODY, SERVICE STABILITY TRAC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING LIGHT WAS ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOSMART - LONGVIEW LOCATED AT 1151 MCCANN RD, LONGVIEW, TX 75601, (833) 586-2886 HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC RESET THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THIS TIME THOUGH WHILE STILL DRIVING MY ENGINE POWER WAS GREATLY REDUCED WITH THE ERROR, "STARTER DISABLED, SERVICE THROTTLE". THIS LED TO A DRASTIC DECREASE IN SPEED WITH ZERO CONTROL OVER THROTTLE AND MOVED TO THE SHOULDER AND THE CAR ROLLED TO A HALT.

AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ALL OF A SUDDEN I HAD NO ACCELERATION CAR HAD DIED. L PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD A FEW MINUTES LATER STARTED UP AGAIN THIS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES I TOLD MY SON HE COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE I FELT IT WAS UNSAFE. I CALLED THE GM THEY GAVE ME A COUPON TO HAVE THE A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK ON IT. IN SEPT I WENT TO THE DEALER AND HE SCANNED MY CAR FOR CODES I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A RIGHT FRONT HUB PART NUMBER 13582664, A RIGHT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HARNESS, 10340314, ACCELERATOR PEDAL, 84018392, AND A VENT VALVE 2085252. I CAN'T BELIEVE A CAR DEALERS WOULD LET A PERSON LEAVE NOT INFORMING THE CUSTOMER WHAT A SAFETY ISSUE THIS IS. I DROVE THE CAR FOR A DAY BECAUSE I COULDN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT AND WAS TRYING TO COME UP WITH THE MONEY AGAIN THE CAR DIED ON ME AS I WENT TO ACCELERATE NOW THE CAR IS SITTING IN MY YARD DEAD AS A DOORNAIL. I CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAIN THE SITUATION TO THE DEALER AT LANNAN CHEVROLET IN WOBURN AND I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER AND THE ONLY RESPONSE I GOT WAS WHAT DO YOU WANT THERE'S A HUNDRED THOUSAND MILES ON THE CAR I HAVE BEEN DOING LOTS OF RESEARCH ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND I'M APPALLED BETWEEN A 2008 AND A 2011 THERE HAS BEEN HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE.THESE ARE SAFETY ISSUES WHERE PEOPLE CAN GET KILLED. I HAVE BEEN THROUGH MANY FORUMS WITH PEOPLE REPORTING THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME CAR AND THROUGH MULTIPLE YEARS OF MANUFACTURING. FROM THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE IN THE LAST FEW DAYS IT LOOKS LIKE HUNDREDS OF OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS ISSUE BUT CHEVROLET IS NOT DOING ANYTHING TO CORRECT IT. NOT SURE AT THIS POINT IF IT IS THE WIRING HARNESS CAUSING THE PROBLEM OR IF THIS COULD BE SOMETHING WITH THE COMPUTER THAT CONTROLS THE STABITRACK, ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL. IF CARS ARE LOOSING POWER AND OR THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED WITH OUT DRIVER CONTROL THIS CAN LEAD TO DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS FOR THE CAR OWNER PASSENGERS AND EVERYONE ELSE DRIVING ON THE SAME ROAD. WITH HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE REPORTING THIS I DO NOT SEE WHY THE CAR OWNER SHOULD NEED TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE AND MAYBE FIX THE ISSUE. THIS HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING OFTEN EVEN WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND FRIGHTENS ME WITH HOPES THAT IT DOES NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD SERIOUSLY INJURE MYSELF OR OTHERS, OR CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY CRIMINAL THAT YOU PAY YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY FOR A VEHICLE AND IT NOT ONLY ISN'T WHAT YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE PAYING FOR BUT IT CAN ACTUALLY TAKE YOUR LIFE AND RUIN YOUR FAMILY BECAUSE GM'S BOTTOM LINE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THEIR CUSTOMERS LIVES. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL? I SEE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FOR GM VEHICLES. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT GM JUST DOESN'T CARE ENOUGH AFTER THE SALE. I JUST BOUGHT 2011 IMPALA AND NOW THE STABALITRACK SERVICE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD. IT WILL DO THIS FOR NO APPARENT REASON BUT HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN ACCELERATING. USING THE CRUISE CONTROL ON LEVEL ROAD AND DASH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THROWS CAR OUT OF CRUISE, DECELERATING WHILE GAGES FLIP AROUND ALL OVER THE PLACE. POWER LOSS AND LACK OF ACCELERATION ARE DEFINITELY SAFETY ISSUES. PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY ONTO MICHIGAN HIGHWAY AND I GET HALFWAY ACROSS HIGHWAY AND CAR STOPS. THIS HIGHWAY IS 55 MPG AND WHILE I WOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO CROSS THE LANE, CAR LOOSES ALL POWER. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET GIVES NO HELP FOR A FIX. I TURNED THE STABILITY TRACTION CONTROL OFF, BUT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT GO AWAY. I SEE ON THE INTERNET THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE TAKEN THERE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER GARAGE ONLY TO GET CHARGED EXORBITANT PRICES FOR "POSSIBLE" THAT DO NOT SEEM TO HELP. GM SHOULD GET THIS FIGURED OUT AND NOT LET EVERY DEALER GARAGE DO THEIR OWN GUESSING ON WHAT WILL FIX THIS VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT IS NOT LIMITED TO SINGLE MODEL OR YEAR BUT SPANS MANY YEARS WITH MANY MODELS. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR ON AN OPEN ROAD WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGHLY AND SLOWED DOWN AND THE ABOVE 3 MESSAGES REPEATEDLY DISPLAYED ONE AFTER THE OTHER. ALSO 2 YELLOW LIGHTS WERE FLASHING AND THEN REMAINED ON -- THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT (I THINK). WHEN I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE CHEV DEALERSHIP A YEAR AGO, I WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES COULD NOT BE REPRODUCED IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY COULD DO. (AND I UNDERSTAND THAT IF IT ISN'T BROKEN WHEN I TAKE IT IN, THE SERVICE DEPT WOULD MOST CHALLENGED TO FIX IT.) TODAY, WHEN THIS HAPPENED I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO A SAFE PLACE TO PARK. I TURNED OFF THE IGNITION, WAITED A MOMENT AND THEN RESTARTED THE CAR. THE SAME 3 MESSAGES WERE DISPLAYED WITH THE TWO YELLOW LIGHTS STAYING ON. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR 3 OR 4 HOURS LATER, ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS DISPLAYED. THE 3 REFERENCED ALERTS WERE NOT DISPLAYED. "SERVICE STABILITRAK", SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL", AND "ENGINE POWER IS RECUDED" ARE THE MESSAGES I GOT TODAY ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT BEING ON. I PURCHASED THE IMPALA ON JUNE 16, 2014, THERE WAS SOME POPPING NOISE FROM THE DASH BOARD ON THE PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE SALE'S MANAGER HAD ME BRING THE CAR IN FOR REPAIR THE NEXT DAY. THE CAR WAS REPAIRED WITHIN 2-3 DAYS. I FOUND OUT IT WAS THE ACTUATOR SENSOR. IN JANUARY 2015 THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY IT WAS UNDER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. NOW 8 MONTHS LATER TO THE DATE (MARCH 12, 2015), THE STABILIZER TRACK-ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT AND MESSAGE CAME. I CAME TO A STOP. CUT THE CAR OFF FOR 15-20 MINUTES ONLY FOR THE LIGHT TO REAPPEAR AFTER MOMENTS OF DRIVING. I GOT TO WORK. THE CAR SAT FOR 9 HOURS AND STILL THE LIGHT ILLUMINATED IMMEDIATELY UPON STARTING THE CAR. I FOUND OUT IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT WANT TO COVER IT. BY THE VEHICLE SHUTTING DOWN THAT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THE VEHICLE SHOULD NEVER SHUT DOWN MAKING STEERING AND BRAKING ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE, IF IT FINDS AN ISSUE WITH THE THROTTLE, IT SHOULD JUST DISABLE THE THROTTLE SO I CAN STEER AND BRAKE WITHOUT PROBLEM. SEVERAL DAYS LATER, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED WHEN I WAS ENTERING A HIGHWAY I COULD NOT ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. THIS TIME, AS IT HAPPENED DURING THE DAY, I AGAIN TOOK IT TO MY DEALER. IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DEAL DIRECTLY WITH THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER TO WHOM HE HAD TAKEN THE CAR THE FIRST TIME. THAT DEALER HAD IT FOR SEVERAL DAYS. RESEARCHING THE CAR MALFUNCTION, I FOUND NUMEROUS POSTINGS ABOUT THE AFOREMENTIONED PROBLEM. I TOOK THE CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND MECHANIC CALLED AND SAID I NEEDED A APP SENSOR / PEDAL WHICH IS A FACTORY ONLY PART. I OK'D THE SERVICE WORK. THE NEXT DAY (APRIL 18TH,2014) THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BRIEFLY AND THE CAR WAS HESITATING AGAIN, I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP AT 2:35 AND SPOKE WITH MECHANIC THAT REPAIRED MY CAR AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM. FOR SEVERAL WEEKS, THE INDICATOR ON MY VEHICLE WILL ALERT ME "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL; REDUCING ENGINE POWER". AT FIRST I THOUGHT THIS WAS JUST A GLITCH, UNTIL IT KEPT HAPPENING OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. THERE ARE DAYS WHEN THE INDICATOR WILL GO OFF AND REMAIN OFF FOR A WEEK OR TWO, BUT THEN IT WILL ALL OF A SUDDEN COME BACK ON AND REMAIN ON FOR A WEEK OR SO. I GET MY VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY. I HAVE CONTACTED GM DEALERSHIP AFTER DEALERSHIP, AND THEY HAVE ALL TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. FINALLY, I ASKED FOR THE CORPORATE OFFICE NUMBER [XXX]. I CALLED GM'S CORPORATE OFFICE (REFERENCE#: [XXX]) AND WAS TOLD THAT MY POWERTRAIN WARRANTY IS STILL GOOD BUT MY BUMPERTOBUMPER WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED DUE TO THE MILEAGE. I ADVISED THE REPRESENTATIVE ([XXX]) THAT I HAD GOOGLED THIS INFORMATION TO FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH CHEVY IMPLALA'S, AND I ASKED WHY HASN'T GM PUT OUT A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. SHE THEN TELLS ME THAT I NEED TO PAY AND GET A DIAGNOSTIC CHECK TO DETERMINE THE ACTUAL ISSUE. MY QUESTION TO HER IS "WHY SHOULD I OR ANY CUSTOMER HAVE TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS A REPORTED KNOWN ISSUE?" THERE REPRESENTATIVE CONTINUED TO APOLOGIZE AND TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THAT GM COULD DO BECAUSE THIS WAS NOT A KNOWN ISSUE. I REFERENCED THERE REPRESENTATIVE TO RESEARCH FOR HERSELF [XXX] AND SHE CONTINUED TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MY 2011 IMPALA. I WILL BE DRIVING NORMALLY, ANYWHERE FROM 45 TO UP TO 65 MPH, AND I WILL GET A WARNING SAYING "SERVICE STABILTRACK, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, ENGINE POWER REDUCED". USUALLY I CAN SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT 5 MINUTES, AND THE MESSAGES WILL CLEAR, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ILLUMINATED FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS, EVENTUALLY CLEARING. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR WHATEVER IS CAUSING THIS, BECAUSE THERE ARE A LOT OF FOLKS WITH IMPALAS HAVING THIS SAME EXACT PROBLEM. WHILE DRIVING ON CITY BELTWAY, I WAS CHANGING LANES AT 50 -55MPH WHEN MY CAR EXPERIENCE SHUDDER AND THE MESSAGES THAT CAME ON SCREEN WAS ENGINE REDUCING POWER, CHECK STABILITY CONTROL, CHECK TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS FLASH AND WHAT APPEARED TO BE ROUGH IDLING. THE THING THAT REALLY SHOOK ME UP WAS WHEN I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY IN THE MORNING AROUND 6:45AM THERE WAS A SEMI AND OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME SO I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE AT ABOUT 30-50 WHEN THE MESSAGES APPEARED AND THE SEMI WAS PRACTICALLY ON MY TAIL. MY HEART JUMPED OUT MY CHEST BUT I REMAINED CALMED AND LUCKILY THERE WAS A MEDIAN STRIP AHEAD. I ASK MYSELF SITUATION COULD HAVE GONE WRONG AND CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT OR GOTTEN KILLED FROM BEING RAMMED FROM BEHIND ALL BECAUSE I COULD'NT ACCELERATE.I HAVE A SMALL VIDEO TO BACK THIS UP. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL NOTICE AND THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO GET THE CODE AND CHARGE ME 129.00 FOR DIAGNOSTIC. ON 5/11/12, THE "SERVICE STABILITRAK" LIGHT CAME ON; THEN A NOTICE THAT THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED CAME ON. I CALLED THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND HE SAID I COULD BRING IT IN ON 5/14. I ASKED IF IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME AND HE SAID NO. I WAS DRIVING ON 5/12 AND WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC WAITING TO TURN LEFT. I WENT TO TURN LEFT AND EXPERIENCED A GREATLY REDUCED RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL WHICH WAS FRIGHTENING. THE DEALER JUST CALLED ME ON 5/14 AND SAID THE PROBLEM WAS IN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AND HE IS REPLACING IT. I FOUND A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SAME ISSUE GOING BACK TO THE 2007 MODEL. I THINK THIS SHOULD PROMPT A SAFETY RECALL, SINCE A NON-RESPONSIVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *JS
