Multiple times, the vehicle, while driving, electrically shuts down. security light comes on, sometimes, many attempts to restart will work. These shutdowns cause me to revet to manual bakes and steering.

THE MANUFACTURER ALSO PROVIDED A $100 VOUCHER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

TOOK CAR TO WALMART ONE NIGHT AND BEGINS TO OVERHEAT AFTER NAPA TOLD ME IT HAD NO LEAKS. CAR OVERHEATS I PULL ASIDE AND TURN IT OFF FOR A BIT I NOTICED THE CAR WOULD CRANK BUT HESITATE TO START. ONCE GOT IT TO START IT WOULD ACCELERATE BUT AT LOW RPMS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND I NOTICED CAR SHAKING AND WEIRD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. ONCE STARTED CAR SQUEAKED AND MAD TERRIBLE NOISE. CAR DID NOT TURN BACK ON AND DID NOT MAKE IT HOME. CRANKS AND RARE WHEN STARTS, CHARGED BATTERY BUT DRAINS, DOESN'T MAINTAIN CHARGE. WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF EXHAUST AND WHEN CAR WOULD STALL IT WOULD TURN OFF, NOW THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT IS ON. NOW CAR WONT EVEN CRANK OR TURN ON. ONCE I GOT IT TO TURN ON WITH TROUBLE IT WOULD TURN OFF ONCE PUT INTO REVERSE OR DRIVE. TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING IT ONE NIGHT AND BRAKES DID NOT WORK. ALMOST CRASHED INTO HOME, MY CAR WAS IN MOTION AND WOULD TURN OFF AMD STEERING WHEEL GOT HARD AND BRAKES DIDN'T WORK, SCARED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ENGINE MAKES WIERD BOGGING SOUND AMD SQUEAKING SOUND, SMELL OF GAS. EXHAUST HAS WHITE SMOKE COMING OUT OF IT. HAS TROUBLE IDLING AT TIMES AND LOW RPMS.

YESTERDAY I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD WITH A FEW TURNS IN A RURAL COMMUNITY. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT STARTS FLASHING, MY SPEED DROPS BY FORCE, MY STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENS, AND THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF. THANKFULLY THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WAS NOT UP TO SPEED AS HE HAD JUST TURNED ONTO THE STREET AFTER ME. OTHERWISE, HE WOULD HAVE SLAMMED INTO THE BACK OF MY CAR. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND STARTED MY ROUTINE OF TRYING TO GET THE IGNITION TO TURN OVER. THIS PROCESS CALLS FOR ME TO PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNTION, TURN IT TO THE RIGHT, AND WAIT FOR THE BOARD TO LIGHT UP. ONCE IT IS LIT, THE CAR USUALLY STARTS AGAIN. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN WHEN THE THEFT LIGHT STARTS TO BLINK. IN THE PAST I HAVE HAD TROUBLE GETTING THE CAR TO START WHEN THE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL IGNITION SWITCHES REPLACED AT THE SUGGESTION OF THEIR CHEVY TECHNICIANS BUT EACH SPRING/SUMMER I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS COSTLY PROBLEM. THE MANAGERS AND TECHNICIANS SEEM TO THINK THAT THIS IS NOT A BIG ISSUE AND THAT I WILL NEED TO CONTINUE TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCHES BECAUSE THE CAR THINKS THAT I AM STEALING MY OWN CAR. THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO GET THE CAR TO START UP AGAIN IS TO PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURN IT TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT ACTUALLY STARTING THE CAR. AFTER 5-10 MINUTES THE ELECTRICAL BOARD LIGHTS UP AND THEN I AM ABLE TO START THE CAR. WHILE THIS CAR IS A 2003 MODEL, I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE SINCE THE CAR WAS NEW BUT GM REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THE ONLY THING THEY HAVE DONE IS TO REPLACE THE KEY FOBS BUT THAT OBVIOUSLY IS NOT THE ISSUE FOR MANY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.

CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS VERY LOW ADDED 1 QUART ON AUGUST 10 I WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING SPEED LIMIT CAR STARTED REDUCING ITS SPEED HEARD A LOUD NOISE PULLED OVER COULDNOT DRIVE IT SO I HAD IT TOWED HOME NEXT DAY AIN HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE SHOP WHERE DRIVETIME TOLD ME TO TAKE IT THEY HAD IT FROM 8/11/2015-8/25/2015 ON AUG 26 THEY SO CALLED PUT A NEW ENGINE IT WAS ONLY 1 DAY LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT OVERHEATED TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT NEEDED THE CAT CONVERTER REPLACED IN WHICH IT WAS NOT COVERED AT THAT TIME ON THE 28 IT WAS APPROVED BY THE TIME I WAS INFORMED DRIVE TIME HAD MY CAR REPO DUE TO NONPAYMENT I FEEL THAT I SHOULD NOT MAKE A PAYMENT UNTIL MY CAR WAS FIXED THE RIGHT WAY.

WHILE DRIVING AT STOP INTERVALS I NOTICED THAT MY TEMP GUAGE WAS REACHING THE HOT MARK, I MADE IT HOME AND MY RESERVOIR WAS BOILING. THEN I NOTICE COOLANT LEAKING FROM THE MANIFOLD HOUSING. WHEN I HAD IT CHECKED OUT, I WAS TOLD THAT MY MANIFOLD GASKETS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COSTLY EXPENSE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS I FOUND OUT THAT GM KNEW THAT THIS WAS A DEFAULT ISSUE AND ONLY SENT OUT RECALLS TO CERTAIN CUSTOMERS AND I WASN'T ONE OF THEM. I BELIEVE THAT GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND MAKE THE PROPER RECALLS TO GET THIS MATTER SOLVED. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED SINCE I MISSED THE RECALL. I BELIEVE THAT THE RECALL IT WAS IN 2008, AND MY PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR UNTIL NOW.

CAR WILL NOT START. SOLID "THEFT" LIGHT COMES ON DASHBOARD AND CAR WILL NOT TURN OVER, OR IF IT TURNS OVER, WILL CUT OUT SHORTLY AFTER. THIS ANTI-THEFT ISSUE CAUSES THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES TO DISABLE, AND AM NOT ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. HAVE ALSO HAD CAR STALL OUT IN TRAFFIC AND LOSE ALL POWER. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE ISSUE. I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL FIXES AND MECHANICAL REPAIRS, BUT THIS ISSUE CONTINUES TO GET WORSE. NO MATTER WHAT I TRY AND DO, AT RANDOM TIMES, MY CAR WILL NOT START, WHILE THE "THEFT" LIGHT COMES ON AND COMPLETELY DISABLES MY VEHICLE. AND SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, AND AM USING AN ORIGINAL KEY TO START THE CAR. I DO NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF SECURITY SYSTEM INSTALLED IN MY CAR. THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE "THEFT" LIGHT TO COME ON WHEN I AM JUST TRYING TO START MY VEHICLE, NOT STEAL IT. THE IGNITION RECALL FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE ONLY INVOLVES REPLACING THE KEYS, BUT THIS ANTI-THEFT ISSUE, WHICH I AND OTHER CHEVROLET MALIBU OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING, IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD CAUSE A CRASH OR OTHER ACCIDENT TO OCCUR IF IT CAUSES THE CAR TO CUT OUT (LOSE POWER) FOR NO REASON WHILE DRIVING, AND AT THE SAME TIME DISABLING THE STEERING AND BRAKING SYSTEMS. WE HAD TO HAVE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACED, AT 55,000 MILES, WHICH DIDN'T OCCUR UNTIL 2012, BECAUSE I DON'T PUT A LARGE AMOUNT OF MILES ON MY CAR ANNUALLY. I COULD NOT GET ANY MONEY FROM THE RECALL, BECAUSE THE CLASS ACTION SUIT PAYOUT ENDED IN 2008, AND I WAS NEVER MADE AWARE. BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR STRUTS ARE LEAKING FLUID. I WAS TOLD ALL FOUR NEED, REPLACEMENT, AND THE MOUNTS AS WELL. . THE MECHANICS SAID NORMALLY THESE SHOULDN'T NEED REPLACEMENT UNTIL 75,000-80,000 MILES MINIMUM, AND SHOULD HAVE LASTED UNTIL 100,000 WHICH IS NORMAL. I'M A GENTLE DRIVER WHO DOESN'T LEND MY CAR OUT. I DRIVE OVER SPEED BUMPS VERY SLOWLY IN OUR TOWN, BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT SUSPENSION ISSUES. OUR TOWN'S SPEED LIMIT IS 15 MPH OVER THE SPEED BUMPS, AND I DO 7MPH OVER THEN. MY 2003 MALIBU(65000 MILES) STARTED TO IDLE HIGH (2000-2500RPM). WE TOOK IT TO OUR REGULAR MECHANIC SHOP, THEY DECIDED IT WAS THE IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE, REPLACED IT AND IT WORKED FINE UNTIL EARLY JUNE WHEN IT STARTED IDLING HIGH, INTERMITTENTLY. THE RISING IDLE WOULD START WITH A ROUGH ACCELERATION, THEN THE RPM'S WOULD START TO RISE AND NOT COME BACK DOWN. WE TOOK IT BACK AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO RECUR, SO THEY TOLD US TO BRING IT IN WHEN IT WAS ACTING UP, SINCE IT WAS NOT CONSTANT. THEY ASSUME AT THIS POINT IT WAS A FAULTY IAC THAT HAD BEEN REPLACED. 2 WEEKS LATER, IT DID AND WE TOOK IT IN. THE RPM'S WERE CLOSE TO 4000 AND IT WAS STARTING TO OVERHEAT WHILE THE MECHANIC WAS CHECKING IT. THAT WAS ON MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2013. THE MECHANIC REACHED INTO THE ENGINE AND DID SOMETHING TO STOP THE RPMS FROM CONTINUING TO INCREASE. TODAY IS WEDNESDAY AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN EARLY MAY 2012 SHE WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPROGRAMMED THE KEY. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED NO FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER WHICH WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER AGAIN DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
