My power steering goes in and out as I'm driving depending on the speed. I have trouble swerving if needed because the power steering is not working correctly all the time.
No incident yet but will happen if not recalled and fixed. My EPS keeps going out while driving and will yank the steering wheel hard in either direction at any given time. Uncontrollable
Steering wheel very stiff after driving 70 miles an hour Sometimes very stiff when vehicle is started.
While driving, the power steering stopped working and I couldn’t turn the wheel. This will be the 2nd time in 7 months that I will have had to replace the electrical power steering
Power steering will suddenly go out while driving, making it harder to maintain control of the vehicle. The car dings three times and then it goes out. The only way to reengage is to turn the car off and back on. At first it was intermittent and has progressively become worse. It seems the same thing that was recalled years ago is happening again with these cars
There are many recalls for the year make and model of my vehicle. They just didn't recall my exact vin. The breaks are recalled, air bags were recalled and they were buying back the vehicles, the fuel delivery system was recalled, headlights were recalled, cruise control was recalled, steering column and yoke was recalled, and a few more. None were recalled for my vin number when it should have been. I took my car to the dealership today, Chevrolet did a few things under "warranty" instead of issuing a safety recall. (They issued 10 recalls on this year make and model) (one recall was the air bags, my vehicle is doing the same thing). The fuel delivery system and fuel pump was recalled but not on my vin number. I just really need help getting my car repaired. I cannot afford to fix all of this when there's records dating back to the purchase of the vehicle, showing that there are problems and Chevrolet neglectfully didn't recall it and instead tried to brush it off as a warranty instead of safety recall. My car leaks gas, the steering it messed up, headlights no longer work due to the electrical issue, the instrument cluster was damaged due to the ecm issue, there's just so many problems... My car could potentially catch fire for the fuel leak, carbon monoxide smell, electrical wiring and the air bags could potentially deploy.
Sudden loss of power steering while accelerating
Dashboard cluster is not working properly and now I am getting and loud noise when I go to make or a slight turn
I had my 5 year old in the back seat we had just left gymnastics. I was about to pull out on to state route 87 and my car just stops running. Everything shut down, no power steering, was hard to brake, and engine stopped. The dashboard lit up with all the lights anti-theft, oil, traction control, engine. I couldn't get it to turn over and when I tried it made no noise at all. I was in a dangerous spot about to pull out into oncoming traffic. Luckily there was a gentleman in a truck whose child was also at gymnastics and pulled me into a driveway with his truck to keep me and my child safe as we waited on a tow. This car also started having power steering problems early this year, I took it to a good mechanic who replaced the power steering lines and fixed what ever could be causing a leak/ power steering problems. I don't drive my car a lot, just in town usually, and after a few weeks the power steering is all messed up again (which there is a recall on the power steering issue for this year, make, and model but does not appear to include my VIN). Today this scary and dangerous incident mentioned above, when my car just stopped with no warning, happened to me and my five year old.
I started losing steering when I accelerated. Then the vehicle security system would t allow me to take the gear out of park then the car suddenly stopped working all together and all the lights on dash flash, the radio says power steering loss, the steering wheel starts moving back and forth all on its own, the vehicle dies and fries the alternator and won't start.
While driving on I95 the major highway my cars steering wheel started to shake and I heard like a popping noise then, a bell or chime rang and the information center read POWER STEERING. Suddenly the steering wheel was hard,I was taken by surprise, and almost went into the other lane. Thank God my son was with me he helped me get onto the first exit off the highway while other cars were speeding by. The next day I looked on the internet for any other people who had the same problem and I found out about the recall, called Chevrolet and spoke to the information about the recall and was told that the original owner had the work done and I was not eligible for any kind of help. The car now has 63000 miles on it after me buying it in June of 2020 with around45,000.have a car fax report given at time of sale shows no recall imfo,at all.I am a senior citizen getting not enough money to pay my bills and am on assistance from the government for.. I need help and am starting with you. I would like to know how long the parts were warranted because in 2014 the original owner had35000 miles on the car so that would make the part only lasting less than 30,000 miles,I love this car and it is the first one that I have ever given a name, though it might sound a little weird, oh well to each their own. I looked up the part on a well-known internet site and as electronic power steering assist module runs close to 300.00 and that does not include labor and god knows what else.

I HAVE OWNED MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU SINCE LATER 2018. IT IS NOW NOV 1ST 2020. A FEW MONTHS AFTER I GOT THE VEHICLE I HAD ISSUES. I HAVE HAD ALL RECALLS REPLACED BY FREDERICKSBURG VIRGINIA CHEVY DEALERSHIP (THEY SAY THAT THEY DID?) THE ENTIRE TIME I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE THE STEERING VIBRATES AT HIGH SPEEDS. ALSO THE ENTIRE TIME I'VE OWNED THIS CAR, WHEN I SPEED UP ANY HILLS MY STEERING LOCKS UP MY BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CAR PULLS TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT DEPENDING. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE! DEALER DIDN'T KNOW WHAT COULD CAUSE IT. I LEARNED TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND THE STEERING GOES BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS NOT EASY ON A CURVY HILL ROAD. THIS CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS WRECK. I HAVE A 10 MONTH OLD BABY. THIS IS FRIGHTENING IF IT ONE DAY IT DOESN'T FIX BY TAKING MY FOOT OFF THE PEDAL. NOW MY STEERING IS STIFF AND IS SO HARD TO TURN WHEN DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED. THE STEERING MOTOR RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED SAYS THE DEALER. SO WHY IS IT GOING BAD AGAIN? IT HAS ONLY BEEN 30,000 MILES LATER. WHY AM I HAVING A STIFF STEERING WHEEL AGAIN IF THEY REPLACED IT? THE TC LIGHT CAME ON WITHIN HOURS OF THE STEERING GOING STIFF. WHY DOES CHEVY DISTRIBUTE VEHICLES WITH SUCH SAFETY ISSUES? YESTERDAY, WHEN TRYING TO PARK, I HEARD A CHIME AND THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING" POPPED UP ON THE INFO SCREEN. THE CAR BECAME INCREDIBLY HARD TO STEER, SO I'M THINKING THE POWER STEERING HAD SHUT OFF. I TURNED MY CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON, AND THE POWER STEERING CAME BACK ON, SO I WAS ABLE TO PARK THE CAR CORRECTLY. WHEN WE WERE ABOUT TO HEAD HOME, AS SOON AS I TURN ON A BUSY STREET, JUST BEFORE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CHIME GOES OFF, THE MESSAGE POPS UP, AND MY POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF AGAIN. I TURNED (WITH ALL MY MIGHT) INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT AND TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A LITTLE BIT. MY FAMILY AND I WERE LOOKING UNDER THE HOOD, BUT WE WEREN'T SURE WHAT TO CHECK FOR. WHEN ACCELERATING AROUND 2500-3500 RPM YOU WILL HEAR A CHIMING SOUND IN THE CAR ALL INFORMATIONAL DASH LIGHTS (BRAKES,CHECK ENGINE, LOW TIRE PRESSURE.) WILL SHOW UP ALONG WITH A POWER STEERING ISSUE IN THE DIC (DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER.) WITH POSSIBLE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AFTERWARDS. ALSO, WHEN THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE DOORS INDEPENDENTLY LOCKED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED FROM PAUL CONTE CHEVROLET IN FREEPORT, NY AND IT HAD 3 RECALLS THAT WERE NOT FIXED BEFORE SELLING IT TO ME. NOW MY POWER STEERING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED TO THE POINT WHERE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TWITCH UNCONTROLLABLY AND THEN BECOME STIFF, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS TO STEER. I ENDED UP PAYING FOR THE REPAIRS TO THE TUNE OF ALMOST $1700.00 TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING MOTOR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT GM RECALLED MANY VEHICLES OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL AS MY CAR BUT FOR MY SPECIFIC VIN ONLY THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR WAS RECALLED. I DID GET THE STEERING TORQUE SENSOR RECALL FIXED BUT MY STEERING WAS STILL MESSED UP. THIS RECALL DID NOT FIX MY VERY SERIOUS AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ISSUE. IT WAS ONLY AFTER I AUTHORIZED THE STEERING COLUMN AND MOTOR REPAIRS THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IS SAYING THAT EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS THE GM RECALL FOR OTHER MALIBU'S, BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC VIN DID NOT FALL UNDER THE RECALL, I WILL NOT BE GETTING REIMBURSED. IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT GM BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. THIS SERIOUS STEERING ISSUE COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO CRASH. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST GM FOR FAILURE TO RECALL ALL VEHICLES THAT WERE AFFECTED BY THIS POWER STEERING ISSUE AND ALSO REQUEST THAT THEY REIMBURSE ME FOR FIXING AN ISSUE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE I EVEN BOUGHT THE CAR. BUT SOMETHING CHANGED IN THE 1990S.I HAVE HAD TWO DELCO BATTERIES DO THIS AND I READ ABOUT A MAN IN FLORIDA THAT DIED IN HIS CAR BECAUSE IT HAPPENED TO HIM. YOUR GET IN YOUR VEHICLE, START THE ENGINE, PUT THE CAR IN GEAR, THE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATE, AND THE ENGINE QUITS. YOU PUT THE CAR BACK IN PARK, AND TRY STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN, NOTHING !! ALL ELECTRICAL CIRCUITS ARE DEAD. THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE AND POST HAVE SEPERATED FROM THE BATTERY. TO GET OUT OF THE CAR YOU HAVE TO TRIP THE MANUAL DOOR LOCKS. IN SEPT 2014, I HAD MY 2006 MALIBU REPAIRED UNDER GM RECALL 13036. AT THE END OF JUNE 2015, I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE MALFUNCTIONING. I CONTACTED CHEVY VIA EMAIL AND PHONE, AND WAS FIRST TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED AGAIN AND EXPLAIN THAT I WAS HAVING THE PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN RECALL 13036 (" THESE FLUCTUATIONS CAN CAUSE ONE OR MORE OF THESE CONDITIONS: THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED; THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED"). I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT THAT MINE WAS "CLOSED" SINCE I HAD ALREADY HAD IT DONE ONCE. LATER I NOTICED MY INSURANCE HAD LISTED THIS AS A MOVING VIOLATION AND RAISED MY INSURANCE. I HAVE CONTACTED MY INSURANCE CONCERNING THIS AS THIS WAS NOT A MOVING VIOLATION. I WAS NOT DRIVING NOR WAS I IN THE CAR AND THIS SEEMED TO INVOLVED A RECALL. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE INTERMEDIATE MID SHAFT NEEDS TO BE REPLACE & THAT THERE WAS STILL CLUCKING NOISE & RATTLING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. I TEST DROVE THE CAR WITH THE MECHANIC & AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AGAIN. AFTER GOING TO COUNTLESS MECHANICS, INCLUDING THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, I HAD MY IGNITION KEYHOLE REPLACED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THIS INCIDENT BEGAN. THE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE KEYHOLE ONLY DID SO BECAUSE HE-LIKE EVERY OTHER MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT MY CAR- COULD NOT FIND ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT WOULD CAUSE MY CAR NOT TO START. HOWEVER, ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER THE KEYHOLE WAS REPLACED THE PROBLEM RE-APPEARED AND HAS PERSISTED EVER SINCE. AROUND MARCH 2013, I FIRST BEGAN TO ENCOUNTER PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING. IT BEGAN AT A LOW SPEED WITH A CHIME, A MESSAGE DISPLAY SAYING TO CHECK THE POWER STEERING, AND MY WHEEL LOCKING UP (POWER STEERING FAIL). AT THE TIME, I DID NOT THINK MUCH OF IT BECAUSE AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING SEEMED FINE. AFTER THIS INCIDENT, THERE WERE MANY TIMES WHEN THE CHIME WOULD SOUND AND THE MESSAGE WOULD FLASH BUT THE POWER STEERING STILL SEEMED TO WORK. I TOOK MY CAR IN FOR OTHER ISSUES AND HAD THIS CHECKED OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THE TROUBLE CODE IN THE SYSTEM WAS C0545 FOR TORQUE SENSOR INPUT FAILURE. MY MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND EVEN CHECKED FOR A RECALL AT THAT TIME. I LEFT WITH MY CAR THAT DAY DUE TO HAVING TO WAIT FOR PARTS. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING 45MPH, THE POWER STEERING ENTIRELY FAILED. IT FELT AS IF MY WHEEL LOCKED ENTIRELY. LUCKILY THERE WERE NOT MANY CARS ON THE ROAD AND I WAS ABLE TO DIRECT IT INTO A PARKING LOT. MY CAR WAS TAKEN BACK IN IMMEDIATELY AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. THIS REPAIR COST AROUND $500. IN JULY 2014, IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT GM FINALLY ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. SO, I CALLED GM TO TO SUBMIT MY INFORMATION TO BE REIMBURSED. I WAS TOLD THAT ONLY SOME 2006 MALIBUS WERE BEING RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE AND THAT MY 2006 MALIBU WAS NOT ONE OF THEM...EVEN THOUGH MY 2006 MALIBU HAD THE PROBLEM THEY WERE RECALLING FOR! I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 60 MILE PER HOUR THE POWERSTEERING WARNING CAME ONTO THE RADIO DISPLAY. SHORTLY AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ONCE I DONT THAT THE CAR CUT OFF.
