The power steering consistently locks up. It may or may not reset itself if you turn the car off and back on. It’s very dangerous. It’s hard to drive . It definitely licks up if it’s cold outside or if you hit a pothole.

The electrical power steering every time it’s driven so often, car is used for school yes the vehicle was inspected by several mechanics the vehicle was like this when i brought it in september of 2022 i was told by chevrolet that my vin is not accepted in the recall which i don’t understand how if it’s the same car and same issue that the recall entails, i replaced the rack and pinion but it didn’t fix the eps sometimes when turning the car on the steering wheel is locked as in it cannot be moved/turned either way and other times it’s extremely hard to turn. the steering wheel will become extremely hard to turn at random times while driving at any speed and while stalled. when it locks while stalled a grinding noise can be heard

The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the gear shifter could be moved without depressing the brake pedal. The contact then stated that the vehicle had failed to start up after several attempts with the traction control and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) warning lights illuminated. Additionally, the gear shift indicator lights failed to illuminate as needed. The vehicle was initially towed to the dealer and was given a diagnostic fee; the vehicle was later towed back to the residence without a diagnostic test being performed. The contact stated that the front headlights and the horn failed to operate after replacing the battery. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V224000 (Power Train). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 245,000.

The contact stated while his partner was driving approximately 30 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the brake lights failed to activate or respond as designed. The contact confirmed that at night when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights failed to illuminate; however, when the brake pedal was released the brake lights illuminated. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that the brake light switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the brake light failure recurred. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and had informed the contact that NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V252000 (Electrical System, Exterior Lighting, Vehicle Speed Control, Electronic Stability Control) had been repaired in December of 2014. Brake lights automatically come on when you don't touch the brakes and go off when you do. GM has had at least 2 recalls on this problem which this vehicle has gone through and now at 177,000 miles there was a 3 recall which GM won't honor due to high mileage. If it was unsafe at 150,000 miles why is it not unsafe now? We've had it fixed on our own which cost $200.00 and lasted all of 5-6 months.

The car starts to violently shake and the the engine service light starts to flash. The ABS light stays on and the car runes terribly. The system says a spark plug coil has burned out. Locate the ba coil and replace it, car runs great until another coil burns out and the process starts over again. During each occurance the steering is affected by pulling hard to one side or the other when the brake is applied.

I have had trouble with my 2008 Chevy Malibu LS for the last 6 years I did not know that there was a recall on it back in 2008 I called GM I spoke to Chevrolet service representative and she said that it was repaired in 2008 this is what year my car was made so it is impossible for it to be prepared I asked her for where she gave me two the beginning of a name and then she changed her mind and said they are no information or when or where it was repaired this car has had a previous owner and this car stutters and jerks I cannot drive it it needs to be fixed and repaired I have wasted money before I found out this recall she said the recall was closed in 2014 I asked to speak to someone else and she would not give me a number or a name and said that she was the only person who could talk to the manager so I need help with this situation because I have two small grandchildren one seven and one six months and I cannot drive this car knowing if it will stop on the side of the road or middle of the lane

I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 3 WEEKS AGO AND FOR THE PAST WEEK IT WON'T START. POWER TO EVERYTHING BUT NO CRANK. I TOOK OUT BATTERY AND STARTER AND THEY'RE BOTH FINE. ALL RELAYS AND FUSES ARE FINE. I WAS TICKETED AND HAD TO PAY THE FINE SINCE I WAS NOT ABLE TO GET A SHOP TO TAKE OFF THE BUMPER WITHIN THE 24 HOUR GRACE PERIOD ALLOTTED BY THE LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENT.

WE NEED TO KEEP PLAYING WITH THE LOCKS FOR THE DOOR TO EVENTUALLY LATCH AND LOCK. THEN IT ALSO SOMETIMES DOES IT FROM THE INSIDE AND YOU CANNOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE AND YOU WILL NEED TO KEEP PLAYING WITH IT. ONE DAY, I HAD TO ROLE THE WINDOW DOWN TO TRY TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T OPEN FROM THIS INSIDE. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IN THE EVENT SOMETHING CATASTROPHIC HAPPENS AND THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN OR CLOSE THEY WAY ITS SUPPOSED TO, IT CAN BE LIFE THREATENING. EXPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE A SMALL SON. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND FAST!

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V2520000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE DEALER DECLINED TO PERFORM THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000.

2008 CHEVY MALIBU ENGINE SHUT OFF IN MID DRIVE ON CITY HIGHWAY DURING HIGH TRAFFIC. MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS DISPLAYED AND CONTINUE TO CODE P0365/6. HOWEVER THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSORS, THE CAMSHAFT POSITION ACTUATORS, THE ALTENATOR AND THE BATTERY HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED. THE ISSUE HAS UPSET ME DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT IS IN LINE WITH 2 KNOWN CONCERNS AND REPORTS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN ANSWERED BY CHEVY OR GM. 1) DISCUSSION OF BATTERY CABLES BEING THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM (UNANSWERED) 2) GM IGNITION SWITCH RECALL FEB 2014 (WHICH SEEMS TO BE VERY IN LINE WITH THIS ISSUE). I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND OFCOURSE PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO BE TOLD "COULD NOT DUPLICATE". IT IS VERY CONCERNING TO ME AND HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT THESE SYMPTOMS HAVE BEEN REPORTED AND NO ONE KNOWS WHAT COULD BE THE SOURCE. I WAS ABLE TO FIND FORUMS AND REPORTS ON BOTH THE BATTERY CABLES AND THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURES. THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILURE WERE SUPPOSEDLY ONLY ISSUES FOR SPECIFIC VEHICLES HOWEVER THE SYMPTOMS WITHIN THE RECORDED MALIBU COMMUNITY ARE TOTALLY IN LINE WITH THE SAME FROM THAT RECALL. WE NOW ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION STRUGGLING TO TURNOVER. THIS IS HIGHLY UNSAFE, FINANCIALLY BURDENING AND STRESSFUL ON THE FAMILIES WHO ARE CURRENTLY DEALING WITH THESE CONCERNS WITH NO ANSWER OR RESPONSE IN SIGHT. REQUESTING ASSISTANCE.

MY VEHICLE DISPLAYS THE ANTI THEFT ICON AND WILL NOT START. SO FAR THIS HAS ONLY OCCURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONERY BUT HAS SLIGHTLY STALLED DURING OPERATION. THIS SEEMS TO BE A NONE ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES AND REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING FAILURE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE MESSAGE CENTER BEEPED AND GAVE MESSAGE POWER STEERING AND THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED JERKING OUT OF CONTROL AND COULD HARDLY STEER. SEVERAL TIMES AFTER RESTARTING STEERING WOULD WORK FOR AWHILE. THERE ARE RECALLS ON OTHER 2008 BUT I WAS TOLD MINE HAD A SPECIAL WARRANTY THAT RAN OUT. I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT THE CAR AND IT ISN'T RIGHT THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1500 TO FIX THIS DEFECT. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT INJURIES TO THE HEAD AND A TEMPORARY LOSS OF ORIENTATION. THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE BACK. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPAIRED THE VEHICLE BY RESETTING THE AIR BAG INDICATOR, AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT AND GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY WERE REPLACED. ED BOZARTH CHEVROLET (5501 DREXEL ROAD, LAS VEGAS, NEVADA 89130, (702) 967-5500) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT REFERENCED SEVERAL OCCASIONS OF BECOMING LOCKED OUT AND LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE. ALSO, ON ONE OCCASION, THE TRANSMISSION BECAME STUCK IN THE REVERSE POSITION WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE CRASH AND OTHER FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

STILL HAD PROBLEMS. TOOK TO DEALER ON 7/03/17 WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE AND NO CODES THEY RECALIBRATED BPPS. STILL HAD PROBLEMS DROVE IT THAT WAY TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER ON 7/06/18. WAS TOLD SAME THING AND SAME WORK PERFORMED. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. READ ONLINE THAT RECALL DIDN'T SOLVE PROBLEM. ON 9/10/18 DEALER STATED BEEN HAVING A LOT OF SAME PROBLEMS WITH OTHER CARS THEY REPLACED BCM & BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR. HAD WORK DONE. SO FAR SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED. I WENT TO THE WALKING TRACK WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD SON TO TAKE OUR DOG FOR A WALK. IT WAS HOT THAT DAY SO WE WAITED UNTIL EVENING TO GO. WHEN WE WERE DONE, I POPPED THE TRUNK TO PUT HIS BIKE AWAY AND UNLOCKED THE DOOR, WENT TO START THE CAR AND THE ANTI-THEFT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON (THE ICON OF THE CAR WITH A LOCK ON IT), AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START. GOT MY OWNERS MANUAL OUT, BUT IT WAS OF NO HELP, SO I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM. MOST PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS ISSUE SAID TO PUT THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION AND TURN IT TO THE ACC POSITION FOR 10 MINUTES, THEN TAKE THE KEYS OUT AND TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND IT SHOULD START. WELL THAT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME, AND I GUESS I HAD TRIED TOO MANY TIMES TO START IT, SO THEN IT WENT COMPLETELY DEAD AND WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. SO THERE I SIT, 10 O'CLOCK AT NIGHT WITH MY 7 YEAR OLD AND OUR CHIHUAHUA, IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT WITH NO STORES OR BUSINESS CLOSE BY THAT WERE OPEN. NOT TO MENTION MY DOG WAS PANTING BECAUSE IT WAS STILL MUGGY OUTSIDE FROM BEING 90 DEGREES THAT AFTERNOON. I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK, WHO THANKFULLY CAME WITHIN THE HOUR TO HELP ME. I TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM AND HE SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE SOME KIND OF SENSOR ISSUE. SO HE JUMPED MY CAR OFF SINCE I HAD DRAINED THE BATTERY TRYING TO DISABLE THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM, AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. BY THE TIME WE GOT HOME, THOUGH, IT WAS 11:30 AT NIGHT. ANYTHING COULD HAVE HAPPENED TO US THAT LATE AT NIGHT, IN AN EMPTY PARKING LOT, WITH NO WHERE TO WALK TO. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE MALIBUS, AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS AND THEN CHEVROLET FACED WITH A LAWSUIT. I WILL BE TAKING MY CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER TOMORROW, AND FINDING OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS FOR CERTAIN, BUT I'M QUITE SURE IT IS THE PASSLOCK SENSOR IN THE IGNITION THAT HAS FAILED, WHICH OTHER OWNERS HAVE FACED AS WELL.

DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO STRAIGHTEN UP MY WHEEL AFTER STEERING LEFT I WAS INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT KNOCKING OFF MY DRIVERS SIDES HEADLIGHT AND FRONT BUMPER COMPLETELY OFF OF MY VEHICLE. AFTER GETTING THE CAR BACK HOME THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER START. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT CAPITOL CHEVEROLET IN AUSTIN TEXAS AND BEFORE REPLACING THE RECALL PARTS THEY INSISTED ON A BATTERY REPLACEMENT I DID REPLACE THE BATTERY AND 3 DAYS LATER THEY CALL AND INSIST ON AN ALTERNATOR REPLACEMENT THAT WILL COST ME $800 IN ORDER FOR THEM TO START ON THE REPLACEMENT/ REPAIRS OF THE RECALLS. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ALL WERE WORKING IN GOOD CONDITION BEFORE THE POWER STEERING ISSUE CAME ABOUT WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. I SHOULD NOT BE RELIABLE OF PAYING FOR THIS. THE DEALERSHIP IS ALSO CHARGING ME A $65 TOWING FEE!

THIS IS A INCONVIENT PROBLEM AS MUCH AS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE. MY HUSBAND IS DISABLED AND MUST WAIT IN RAIN/SNOW/COLD/HEAT UNTIL I UNLOCK DRIVERS DOOR WITH KEY AND SLIDE ACROSS TO MANUALLY UNLOCK PASSENGER DOOR. AS FAR AS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE, DOORS MUST SOMETIMES WHEN MOTOR IS TURNED OFF THE BACK DOORS WILL UNLOCK BUT THEY DON'T LOCK AGAIN WHEN CAR IS RESTARTED. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING WITH DOORS UNLOCKED SO I HAVE TO GET INTO BACK SEAT TO REACH THE PASSENGER DOOR TO LOCK IT BEFORE DRIVING (A SAFETY ISSUE). ALSO, IF I HAVE OTHER PASSENGERS I HAVE TO GET INTO BACK TO OPEN THE DOOR FOR THEM. THIS BEGAN ABOUT 2 YRS AGO AND PROGRESSED TO THE CURRENT PROBLEM ABOUT A YR AGO. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (WALDORF CHEVROLET/CADILLAC IN WALDORF, MD) AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS AN UNKNOWN ISSUE AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 143,000.

IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, ONE MONTH LATER, THE CONTACT OBSERVED A LEAK AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE HEAD GASKET BEING PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IMPROPERLY. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. I CALLED SEVERAL CHEVROLET DEALERS EARLY ON 08/08/2016 TO SEE IF THEY COULD REPAIR UNDER RECALL WARRANTY. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT HELP ME THE SAME DAY, AND MY CAR IS STRANDED FAR FROM HOME. THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT OPERATE OR ONLY OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY WHEN USING THE ELECTRONIC DOOR LOCK/UNLOCK FEATURE ON EITHER THE KEY FOB OR THE DOOR SWITCH. THE DOOR LOCKS ALSO DO NOT OPERATE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO OR OUT OF PARK, POTENTIALLY LEAVING THE DOORS EITHER UNLOCKED WHILE THE VEHICLE IS OPERATING OR LOCKED AFTER THE VEHICLE IS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE BIGGEST CONCERN WITH THE LOCKS IS IN THE PLACEMENT OF THE MANUAL PULL ON THE REAR DOORS. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN CHILD SEATS THAT HAVE BEEN TEMPORARILY LOCKED IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THE REAR DOORS FAIL TO UNLOCK. THE REAR DOOR LOCK PULL IS LOCATED NEAR THE "C" PILLAR OF THE VEHICLE INSTEAD OF A MORE CONVENTIONAL "B" PILLAR LOCATION, MAKING MANUAL ACCESS TO THE DOOR LOCK PULL IMPOSSIBLE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IF THE PASSENGER IN INCAPABLE OF UNLOCKING THE DOOR THEMSELVES (SUCH AS IN THE CASE OF SMALL CHILDREN OR THE DISABLED) ANOTHER PERSON HAS TO EITHER CLIMB OVER THE FRONT SEATS OR ACROSS THE REAR SEAT FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE TO ACCESS THE PASSENGER AND/OR DOOR LOCK PULL TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. IT STARTED SAYING SERVICE TRACTION AND ENGINE POWER LOSS. I PLACED THE CAR IN DRIVE, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING AND LOCKS WENT UP AND DOWN RAPIDLY. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RE STARTED IT, ATTEMPTED TO SEE IF IT WOULD DRIVE BUT IT HAD NO POWER, COULD ONLY REVERSE AND THERE SEEMED TO BE NO POWER STEERING. THE NEXT DAY I STARTED THE CAR AGAIN, THIS TIME NO IMMEDIATE ISSUE UNTIL I PULLED OUT ON TO THE STREET. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TIGHT, AND THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE. LOSS OF ENGINE POWER WAS ON THE DASH, ENGINE AND TRACTION LIGHTS REMAINED ON. RESTARTED THE CAR AND I WAS ABLE TO PARK AGAIN. THE CAR REMAINS AT THE DEALER AFTER BEING TOWED A WEEK AGO, AND THEY ARE UNSURE OF THE CAUSE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD ANY CONTROL OF THE CAR AND MOST DEFINITELY WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

ON THE WAY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM REPAIR FOR THE 3RD TIME, THE ENGINE LOSS POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING APPROX 75MPH ON AN EXTREMELY BUSY INTERSTATE. ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS OF MY ENTIRE LIFE. PULLED OVER, PUT THE CAR IN PARK & THEN IS SHUTOFF. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME AS THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING. AFTER WAITING AWHILE, I RESTARTED THE CAR AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP. SERVICE TECH SAID THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORKED FIND - HE HAD NO EVIDENCE THAT THEY WERE STAYING ON. HE SAID THE ESC & TRACTION WAS RELATED TO THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER & I NEEDED TO HAVE THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED - $550. HAD THE THROTTLE BODY REPLACED AND DRIVING HOME-APPROX 30 MINS LATER-THE CAR STARTS DOING WEIRD IDLE THINGS. IN PARK THE RPM HAND FLUCUATED BETWEEN 1.5-2 AND THEN OUT OF NOWHERE 3.0-IN PARK, NOT APPLYING GAS OR BRAKES. I HAD TO APPLY BRAKES AND PUT THE CAR IN GEAR TO MAKE IT STOP. WHEN I RELEASED THE BRAKES AT THE STOPLIGHT-NOT APPLYING GAS-CAR ACCELERATED TO 20 MPH ON IT'S OWN. CALLED DEALERSHIP BACK-THEY IMPLIED IT WAS MY FAULT FOR LEAVING THE LOT IF SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE ONLY THING THAT THE CAR DID BEFORE LEAVING DEALERSHIP WAS FOR APPROX 5 SECS IT WAS A TAD BE LOUDER THAN NORMAL WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE. THE OTHER PROBLEMS DID NOT PRESENT UNTIL AFTER I WAS SEVERAL MILES AWAY (INTERSTATE) AND MORE SO WHEN I WAS OFF THE INTERSTATE WHERE THERE WAS MORE SLOWING, STOPPING, ETC. I PARKED AFTER MY CONCERN INCREASED. TURNED THE CAR AND THEN RESTARTED AFTER A PERIOD-THAT IS WHEN IT IDLED UP TO 3.0 RPMS IN PARK-PEOPLE WALKING BY LOOKED AT ME STRANGE AS IF I WAS SITTING IN THE PARKED CAR JUST PRESSING THE GAS-NOT. I AM JUST AS TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THE CAR TONIGHT AS I WAS BEFORE IT WAS REPAIRED EARLIER TODAY.

I AM SICK OF ALL OF THESE ISSUES AND HAVE NO ASSISTANCE WITH IT. NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALERSHIPS HERE, COINCIDENTALLY, MY WARRANTY WAS UP ON EVERY ISSUE I FACED. GM HAS REALLY TAKEN A LOT OF MONEY OUT OF MY POCKETS. NOW THAT THE GM RECALL HAS BEEN DONE IT IS SETTING THESE SAME CODES 2 OR 3 TIMES A DAY. BUT INSTEAD OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS BEING ON, THE BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK, MY CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK, MY TAIL LIGHTS DON'T WORK THE CAR STILL SAYS SERVICE TRANSACTION AND ESC DAILY. INCIDENT DATE IS APPROXIMATE. IT STARTED ON A TRIP HOME FROM CHICAGO WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WARMER KEPT COMING ON BY ITSELF. MY WIFE HAD TO SIT IN THE BACK SEAT MOST OF THE WAY HOME. WHAT WE DID NOT KNOW UNTIL JUNE 25TH 2015 WAS THAT IT WAS COMING ON DUE TO A CONDENSATION LINE LEAK AT THE PASSENGER SIDE COWL. ON JUNE 28, 2015 I DISCOVERED SOAKED CARPET IN THE RIGHT SIDE REAR FLOOR BOARD. I PULLED THE CARPET AND FOUND 1" OF WATER. OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS, ONLY DURING SUMMER MONTHS WITH AC RUNNING, THE SEAT WARMER WAS SHORTING OUT DUE TO WATER WAVES TRAVELING FORWARD AND BACK DURING ACCELERATION/BRAKING. THE LAST TWO YEARS ID FIND WET CARPET, BUT THOUGHT MAYBE IT WAS A FLUKE, POSSIBLE SUNROOF LEAK, OR THAT I LEFT MY WATER THERMOS LID UNSCREWED BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT STAY WET ALL THE TIME DUE TO WEATHER, DRIVE TIMES ETC. OUT OF WARRANTY, I KNEW IT HAD TO BE AC CONDENSING LINE RELATED. I WENT TO THE DEALER (WEBER CHEVROLET IN CREVE COEUR MO), WHERE PURCHASED NEW, TO GET A DIAGRAM OF WHERE THE AC LINES RUN. THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST ME. I WENT TO AN AC AUTO REPAIR PERSON WHO FOUND A FACTORY PLUG IN THE AC DRAIN HOSE THAT EXITS THE COWL INTO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. HE REMOVED THE PLUG AND WATER OF COURSE CAME OUT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS IT BUT THE WATER KEPT LEAKING INTO THE CARPET. I REMOVED THE FRONT CARPET AND FOUND THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK AFTER VISITING A POST ON A CHEVYMALIBU FORUM. IT IS LEAKING THROUGH A 3OR 4SPONGE RUBBER SEAL ABOUT THE SIZE OF A HOCKEY PUCK, THAT APPARENTLY SURROUNDS THE BLOWER HOUSING TUBE THAT ENCASES THE CONDENSATION LINE THAT EXTENDS THOUGH THE COWL. I HAVE BEEN COMMUNICATING WITH A SERVICE SUPERVISOR AT WEBER. I JUST RECEIVED A FORUM REPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING TSB INFORMATION: MOISTURE IN CABIN: TSB 09-01-37-002A (A/C - FRONT/REAR PASSENGER CARPET WET). I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND A VIABLE REPAIR PROCEDURE BECAUSE I CANNOT ACCESS THE TSB BULLETIN.

ADDITIONALLY, THERE WAS A LOOSE PIN ON ONE OF THE BODY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTORS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE BULBS, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER THEN REPLACED THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK EXCESSIVELY AND THE FRONT PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOORS WERE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCHES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED FROM THE DEALER. THE KEYPAD DIDN'T WORK, SO WE TRIED LOCKING IT BY THE SWITCH ON THE DOOR... STILL DIDN'T WORK. 3 OF THE DOORS WILL LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE. 3 (MOST OF THE TIME) WILL UNLOCK WHEN THE CAR IS MANUALLY UNLOCKED IN THE DRIVER DOOR BY THE KEY. ONE OF THE DOORS ONLY WORKS BY MANUALLY PUSHING DOWN OR PULLING UP ON THE LOCK NO MATTER WHAT. TO GET IN THE CAR WHEN THE DOORS DECIDE NOT TO UNLOCK, I HAVE TO EITHER HAVE ONE KID CLIMB IN TO UNLOCK THEM OR ROLL THE BACK WINDOWS DOWN SO THEY CAN REACH IN TO UNLOCK THEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TWO KIDS THAT COULD BE TRAPPED IN THE CAR IF WE WERE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT AND THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK BY THE BUTTON OR KEYPAD. FOR THE CAR TO BE THIS NEW, IT SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE CAR ALSO HAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE FUEL SENSOR. ON HIGHWAYS (CONTINUOUS DRIVING) YOU CAN WATCH THE GAS MEASUREMENT SLOWLY GO DOWN. AN EXAMPLE, A 1 HOUR AND 40 MINUTE TRIP LEAVING ON A FULL TANK TOOK THE GAS DOWN TO BELOW HALF A TANK. BUT WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STOPPED OR BACK IN THE CITY, THE GAS LEVEL WILL RISE BACK UP TORIGHT BELOW OR RIGHT ABOVE 3\4 TANK. I EXPERIENCED THE EFFECTS OF THE BODY CONTROL MODULE RECALL ISSUES WHILE ON A ROAD TRIP TRAVELING AT 65 MPH WHEN MY CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED AND MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT STAY OFF OR ON. I'VE PAID TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED AND I AM NOW AWAITING THE "OFFICIAL" RECALL NOTICE FROM CHEVROLET, DESPITE HAVING RECEIVED THE INTERIM NOTICE AND ALREADY HAVING HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A REFUND OF THE NEARLY $600 REPAIR. NOW, I'M WAITING TO GET IN TO THE DEALER FOR THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING RECALL REPAIRS AND I'VE BEGUN TO EXPERIENCE ISSUES WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY MECHANISM. INTERMITTENTLY THE VEHICLE WILL TURN EVERYTHING ON, BUT NOT TURN OVER OR START THE ENGINE. THE BATTERY IS NEW AND THIS ONLY HAPPENS SPORADICALLY. ALSO, WITH THE SAME INTERMITTENT THE KEY BECOMES STUCK IN THE IGNITION / KEY MECHANISM ON THE STEERING COLUMN AND IT WILL NOT COME OUT WITHOUT SIGNIFICANT WIGGLING AND FORCEFUL PULLING. AFTER TURNING THE CAR ON WHILE STILL IN PARK, THE WHEEL WOULD JERK FROM LEFT TO RIGHT BY ITSELF. ALSO OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT BOTH LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. THE POWER STEERING WAS FAILING WITHOUT WARNING! IT WAS PARTICULARLY FRIGHTENING AT HIGH SPEEDS AND WOULD HAPPEN WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES ON MANY DIFFERENT OCCASIONS BEFORE THE CHIME SOUNDED AND THE WORDS POWER STEERING APPEARED ON MY DASH INFORMATION. AFTER BRINGING THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY FIXED IT CITING THE PROBLEM AS "CODE 0475 - POWER STEERING MOTOR SHORTED INTERNALLY, REPLACED POWER STEERING MOTOR AND SET UP NEW MODULE". THE TOTAL COST WAS $847.87. AFTER DOING FURTHER RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THAT MANY 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBUS HAD BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. IN TWO DIFFERENT RECALL LETTERS RELEASED BY GM IT WAS STATED "2008 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET MALIBU...EQUIPPED WITH ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, MAY HAVE A CONDITION WHERE THERE IS A LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST". THE LETTER FURTHER STATED "FOR 2008 MODEL YEAR VEHICLES, DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CONTROL MODULE". WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE AS PER MY DEALERSHIP RECEIPT. THE LETTER SAID "IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS ON YOUR 2008 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET MALIBU VEHICLE WITHIN 10 YEARS OF THE DATE YOUR VEHICLE WAS ORIGINALLY PLACED IN SERVICE OR 100,000 MILES, THE CONDITION WILL BE REPAIRED FOR YOU AT NO CHARGE". I CONTACTED GM WITH MY INFORMATION ATTEMPTING TO BE REIMBURSED. AFTER MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS AND EVERYONE TELLING ME MY VIN # WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO I FINALLY GAVE UP. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY CHEVROLET SENT ME A LETTER STATING "PLEASE ACCEPT THIS LETTER WORTH UP TO $100 TOWARDS YOUR NEXT MAINTENANCE SERVICE OR REPAIR ON YOUR 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU". I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM GM AND WILL SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE DID NOT MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS. THE ENGINE KEPT REVVING AND MAKING A LOUD SOUND. THE ODOMETER WENT FROM 60 MPH TO 0 AND THE TACHOMETER VACILLATED FROM TWO TO FIVE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THEN THE ENGINE BEGAN REVVING AGAIN AND THE SITUATION REPEATED ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A STEADY SPEED AND WHEN IT SLOWED DOWN AGAIN, THE CONSUMER WAS NEARLY REAR-ENDED. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST, WHICH REVEALED THE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID INTERNALLY SHORTED OUT.

I AM HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES AS OTHERS WITH WIRING/ELECTRICAL. LATEST INCIDENT INVOLVED LOSS OF AC/DEFROST/LEVEL CONTROLS. PRIOR TO THIS LOSS, THERE WAS A VERY STRONG BURNING SMELL COMING THRU THE VENTS WHEN THE CONTROL LEVEL WAS SET TO 1-4. THERE WERE NO VISIBLE SPARKS OR FIRE; HOWEVER, THE WIRING UNDER THE GLOVE DEPARTMENT WAS EXTREMELY HOT. ALTHOUGH THERE WASN'T A FATALITY OR VISIBLE FIRE OTHER RISKS WERE INVOLVED. MY FAMILY WAS IN THE CAR (ADULTS & CHILDREN) & WE WERE 500 MILES FROM HOME (RETURNING FROM VACATION). BEING ON THE ROAD, NARROWED OPTIONS ON IDENTIFYING THE ROOT CAUSE. THE AIR REMAINED OFF & WINDOWS WERE DOWN FOR THE REMAINDER COMMUTE IN 90 DEGREE RAINY WEATHER. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES OF CONCERN. THE ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON??? THE SAME ISSUE OCCURRED IN NOV 2012 WITH THE HEATER. AT THIS TIME, WHEN THE WIRES WERE EXAMINED IT "MAGICALLY" STARTED WORKING. IN JANUARY 2012, THE DOOR CHIME BECAME VERY FAINT, THE SEATBELT CHIMES WHEN IN USE, & THE FRONT DOOR SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK. IN 2009, THE DOOR LOCKS BEGAN TO MALFUNCTION. I FIRST EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM OCTOBER 2011 WHEN THE DASHBOARD MESSAGE INDICATED SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ESC, I TOOK MY CAR TO AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE WHERE THEY PUT DIELECTRIC GREASE ON THE BCM CONNECTORS. THEY STATED IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES, I WOULD HAVE TO GO TO A DEALER FOR THE BCM TO BE REPROGRAMMED. WHILE THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM OF MY SERVICE BRAKE LIGHTS COMING ON WITHOUT TOUCHING MY BREAK PEDAL AND THEN WHILE BREAKING NO BREAK LIGHTS COME ON, THE FIX ONLY WORKED TEMPORARILY. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP, BECAUSE LIKE OTHERS HAVE MENTIONED, WHEN YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF IT CLEARS THE MESSAGE UNTIL YOU ARE NO LONGER AT THE GARAGE AND IT COMES BACK ON. I TOO TOOK MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND DID NOT SHUT THE CAR OFF. THE SERVICE WRITER SAW THE MESSAGES WHICH WERE, SERVICE TRACTION AND SERVICE ESC. THE FIRST TIME I VISITED THE DEALER WAS ON JUNE 1, 2012, THEIR REPORT STATES CODE C0131 ABS TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM PRESSURE CIRCUIT. I HAD THIS PROBLEM FIXED ON JUNE 25, 2012 IN WHICH THEY REPLACED AND CALIBRATED BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH, GREASED BCM CONNECTOR, CLEARED CODE, ROAD TEST, REPLACE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH FOR A SUM OF MONEY. KEY FOB DOES NOT UNLOCK OR LOCK THE FRONT AND BACK DOORS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. IF SOMEONE IS IN THE BACK SEAT THE DRIVER CAN NOT GET THEM OUT AS THE DOOR LOCK WILL NOT OPEN WITH THE FOB. WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE THE DRIVERS DOOR DOES NOT LOCK, SO IT IS ASSUMMED THAT YOU ARE SAFELY LOCKED IN THE CAR, BUT THE DOOR NEEDS TO BE LOCKED MANUALLY AFTER IN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE. WHEN LOCKED MANUALLY WHEN IN CAR, WHEN THE CAR IS TURNED OFF THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY AND HAS TO BE MANUALLY OPENED BY PULLING THE LOCK ON DOOR UP ON THE DRIVER DOOR AND THE BACK PASSENGER DOOR. WHEN TRYING TO USE THE REMOTE TO LOCK THE DOORS, THE FRONT AND BACK DOORS DO NOT LOCK UNLESS DONE MANUALLY. WHEN THE FOB IS USED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS AS I TRY TO GET INTO THE CAR THE FOB DOES NOT WORK AND I HAVE TO MANUALLY WITH THE KEY UNLOCK THE DOOR. WHEN TRYING TO REMOTE START THE CAR THE REMOTE START DOES NOT WORK, AS THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND BACK DOOR WILL NOT LOCK, SO REMOTE START DOES NOT WORK. I HAD AN INCIDENT WITH THE BACK DOOR WHEN I NEEDED TO GET AN INDIVIDUAL OUT OF THE BACK SEAT QUICKLY AND IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE. I HAD TO RUN TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR AND GET THE INDIVIDUAL OUT BY PULLING THEM TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. WHEN I AM APPROACHING MY CAR IN AN AREA THAT I FEEL UNSAFE IN, SUCH AS A GARAGE, I AM NOT ABLE TO OPEN MY CAR DOOR WITH THE FOB AND HAVE TO AGAIN USE THE KEY. AGAIN THEN WHEN I GET IN THE CAR I AM UNSAFE AS THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK, FRONT OR BACK IF NOT LOCKED MANUALLY. WHILST DRIVING HOME ONE NIGHT I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON, HOWEVER I WAS NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES. I THEN PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURNED OFF. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET BY HOWEVER RECENTLY I HAD TO GET THE STEERING COLUMN REPLACED UNDER A SPECIAL WARRANTY POLICY. I HAD TO "KICK AND SCREAM" HOWEVER IN THE END THE PART WAS INSTALLED. THAT WOULD HAVE COST ME ABOUT 900 DOLLARS IF IT WAS NOT COVERED. NOW I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" INDICATOR. ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASE THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED TO OPERATE, I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE CAR WAS PURCHASED FROM AND THEY FIXED IT UNDER THE WARRANTY. APPROX. ONE YEAR AFTER THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK INCIDENT, BOTH DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKS FAILED. TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE I WAS 200 MILES OVER MY WARRANTY. APPROX. 3 MONTHS LATER THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILED AS WELL. I CANNOT UNLOCK THE BACK DOORS, AND HAVE TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE FRONT DOOR. I HAVE TWO SMALL NEPHEWS IN CAR SEATS AND MY CONCERN IS THAT IF THEY ARE IN THE VEHICLE DURING AN INCIDENT THAT I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET THE CHILDREN FREE FROM THE BACK SEAT BECAUSE OF THE DOOR LOCKS. THEY CANNOT REACH THE LOCK ITSELF SO THEY WOULD BE TRAPPED. FOR MYSELF TO FIX THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD COST MORE THAN THREE MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THE VEHICLE AND IN THE ECONOMY THAT IS VERY HIGH. I WOULD PREFER TO HAVE A SAFE VEHICLE WITH NO CONCERNS ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY VEHICLE TO HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN TRAVELING WITH MY NEPHEWS. AFTER RETURNING GROCERY SHOPPING I COULD NOT GET GROCERIES INTO BACK SEAT, DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK . THIS COULD HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR MONTHS AS I ALWAYS PUT GROCERIES IN FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND FLOOR AND NEVER USED REAR DOORS . APPROXIMATELY 1-2 WEEKS LATER OTHER REAR PASSENGER DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. I CONTACTED DEALER WHO STATED GM MIGHT WORK WITH ME TO HELP A LITTLE BUT DOUBT IT AS MY MILEAGE WAS AT 42000 MILES. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM MALIBU OWNERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THEM AT 40,000 - 50,000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY IS OVER. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE COVERED BY GM AS IT SHOWS A DEFECT IN THE ACTUATER IN DOORS GO BAD, AS WELL AS A NEGLIGENT SAFETY HAZARD KNOWING MANY CARS HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IS IT GOING TOI TAKE SOMEONE TO DIE IN REAR SEATS DUE TO THIS DEFECT WHEN AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE OCCURS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AS CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT CANNOT OPEN DOOR IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE, AS WELL AS A POLICEMAN/FIREMAN/RESCUERER, CANNOT OPEN EITHER REAR DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. YOU HAVE TO CRAWL OVER AND SQEEZE IN BETWEEN FRONT SEATS AND HAVE ENTIRE BODY IN BACK SEATS BEFORE YOU CAN REACH THE DOOR LOCKS TO MANUALLY OPEN THEM. THIS IS GOING TO COST ME APPROX $400-$500.00 FOR REAR DOORS AND READING OTHER CUSTOMERS THIS COULD EVENTUALLY APPLY TO ALL DOORS INCLUDING FRONT DOORS (ANOTHER $400-$500.00). TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER CODES ILLUMINATED AND ALL OF THE TEMPERATURE GAUGES ON THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING. THE VEHICLE ALSO BEGAN TO RUN VERY ROUGH. IF THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, OCCASIONALLY SHE HAD TO WAIT 10 MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN MODULE, BUT THAT ONLY CORRECTED THE FAILURE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THE WIRES WITHIN THE COMPUTER WERE REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR ONLY LASTED A FEW WEEKS. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE STATED THAT THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE HEAD GASKET WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT SHE HAD TO REPLACE THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE, THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT, THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, THE BATTERY, THE STARTER CABLE WIRES, THE SYSTEM COMPUTER AND THE DOOR LOCKS ON BOTH REAR DOORS. ALL OF THE REPAIRS WERE MADE BY AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,988 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.

2008 CHEVY MALIBU AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS FAIL TO OPERATE PROPERLY. BEGAN WITH PASSENGER REAR DOOR AND MOVED TO ALL DOORS. WHEN CAR REACHES 15 MPH THE DOORS ARE SUPPOSED TO AUTO LOCK. THEY DO NOT. KEYLESS ENTRY AND STARTER DO NOT WORK. BATTERY WAS REPLACED IN THE KEY FOB WITH NO CHANGE. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. COST WOULD BE 250 DOLLARS PER DOOR TO REPAIR. CAR WAS TAKEN IN TO DEALERSHIP PRIOR TO 3 YR 36000 MILE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED WITH INTERMITTENT DOOR LOCKS ON REAR DOOR WORKING AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE POWER DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS HAVE FAILED, LOCKING THE CONTACT INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT AN ESCAPE. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS TO HAVE THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR ACTUATORS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WOULD PERSIST. IN ADDITION, THE ALTERNATOR, ENGINE LIGHT AND RADIO HAVE BEEN REPLACED DUE TO ELECTRICAL FAILURES. THE DEALER STATED THAT ALL OF THE FAILURES WERE RELATED TO AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. I WAS DRIVING APPROX 45 MILES PER HOUR ON A ONE LANE ROAD. MY CAR DIC DISPLAYED POWER STEERING THE WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE, PULLED TO THE LEFT AND BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER, ALMOST MAKING ME HIT THE CAR IN ONCOMING TRAFFIC, THE LADY DRIVING THE OTHER VEHICLE SWERVED ONTO THE SHOULDER WHICH PREVENTED THE ACCIDENT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF. A MECHANIC FRIEND OF MINE CAME TO MY LOCATION AND COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE ELECTRIC ASSIST POWER STEERING RESETS ONCE THE VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. THIS INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN TRAGIC AND BY THE GRACE OF GOD IT WAS NOT. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, ALL 3 BRAKE LIGHTS TURN ON AND REMAIN ON. THE LIGHTS REMAIN ON UNTIL THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. AT THAT POINT THE LIGHTS TURN OFF. IF YOU PRESS THE PEDAL AGAIN, THEY WILL COME BACK ON, BUT ONLY IF YOU SLAM YOUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE. THE LIGHTS CYCLE ON EVERY 5 SECONDS, PROVIDING YOU DEPRESS THE BRAKE TO TURN THEM OFF. PRIMARY CONCERN IS THAT NO ONE KNOWS WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO STOP AND WHEN YOU DO STOP, THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF (WITH A HARD PUSH ON THE PEDAL). IT APPEARS THIS PROBLEM ONLY OCCURS AT NIGHT. I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES REGARDING THE ISSUE. EVERY TIME IT JUST 'STOPS'. NO REMEDY. THE PROBLEM REMAINS UNSOLVED. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 55-60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE CONTACT HEARD A NOISE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE TECHNICIAN REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTERIZED SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON EIGHT SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER SIX TIMES WITHOUT ANY RESOLUTIONS. ON 7/22/08, CAR WON'T START, FIND OUT IT IS THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (HAS TO DO WITH ANTI-THEFT, ETC.), AS OF TODAY'S DATE, AUGUST 13, IT STILL SITS IN THE SHOP AWAITING THE PART FROM CHEVY, WHO SAYS THEY WILL NOT HAVE A PART AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPT./OCT. BECAUSE ALL THE PARTS NOW ARE BEING PUT INTO THEIR NEW CARS. I HAVE ABOUT 1400 MILES ON IT, AND IT IS INOPERABLE. WHAT GOOD DOES A WARRANTY DO WHEN THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THEIR DEFECTIVE PARTS?
