• Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. • The failure of the power steering system made it extremely difficult to steer the vehicle, especially at lower speeds, which put my safety and the safety of others at risk by increasing the likelihood of an accident. It would turn on and go off by itself at random spurts, which was very unusual. • No, the problem has not been reproduced by another dealer. • The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer’s service department. As well as, not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. • No it just randomly had a warning light one day when I got in it to crank it like a normal day. But never warned me before hand, but when it did come on, But it appeared on the dashboard indicating a power steering issue, and abs and brake warning light. The abs and brake warning light first appeared about two weeks before the complete failure of the system. Which I became without a vehicle for about 3 months because of it.

The passenger light beam will not come on it also messes with my radio it turns it to the aux I keep replacing the Bub in the harness and it's still not working not not to mention the car felt like a lost of power due to I guess the trance when turning a corner or pulling off. ONE DAY I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND MY WHEEL LOCKED AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO TURN IT. IT WAS VERY SCARY GOING 50 MPH TRYING TO GET OFF A EXIT AND NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN MY WHEEL. I NEEDED JUST HAVE TO LET MY CAR SIT BECAUSE I CLD NOT AFFORD THE COST TO GET IT FIXED AND I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO CAUSE THAT I CALLED CHEVY GAVE THEM MY VIN NUMBER AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T A RECALL BUT I SEE PPL WITH MALIBU'S HAVE THE SAME ISSUE . I PULLED OUT TO HEAD HOME, BUT THE CAR DIDN'T GET MUCH SPEED, NOR WOULD IT REVERSE AT ALL. I HAD IT TOWED AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS BURNED OUT. I'D ONLY HAD THE CAR LESS THAN 30,000 MILES. I WAS OUT RUNNING ERRANDS AND HAD STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. A FEW MINUTES LATER AS I WAS TURNING ON TO THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD AND THEN REFUSED TO ACCELERATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A HIGH REVVING SOUND AS IF ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS RIGHT BESIDE ME PASSING AND SOON REALIZED THAT IT WAS MY CAR REVVING WITH THE RPM GAUGE GOING ABOVE 3 AND MY CAR SLOWING DOWN. MOMENTS LATER MY PASSENGERS AND I FELT A SUDDEN "JERK" AND THE CAR JETTED FORWARD ONLY TO START REVVING AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS MERELY MOVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH AS I WAS STILL IN SHOCK FROM THE FIRST REVVING AND NON-ACCELERATING MOMENT. AFTER TRYING HELPLESSLY TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE AT A SPEED OF AT LEAST 15-20 MPH, I DECIDED TO STOP/RESTART THE CAR AND TRY USING THE MANUAL SHIFT. IT GAVE ANOTHER SUDDEN "JERKING" MOVEMENT AND MOVED IN M5 BUT NOT EVEN 10 SECONDS THE CAR STARTED WITH THE LOUD REVVING SOUND AS IF I WERE MASHING GAS WHICH I WASN'T AND WE BARELY MADE IT HOME AT ABOUT 10MPH USING HAZARD LIGHTS. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE AUTONATION SHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND INSTEAD HAD TO BE TOWED THERE. AUTONATION CHEVY DID A "DIAGNOSIS" OF SORTS AND WITHIN MOMENTS CALLED TO SAY THAT THERE IS METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION AND I NEED TO PAY A WHOPPING $4,300.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED. OF COURSE I COULD GO ON ABOUT HOW FRUSTRATING AND HUMILIATING THIS WHOLE ORDEAL HAS BEEN FROM BEGINNING TO $$$$ END BUD I'D APPRECIATE IT IF CHEVY CAN REACH OUT TO ME BECAUSE I HAVE A FRIEND WHO SAID SHE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HER MALIBU. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL THEREFORE I DO NOT FEEL LIKE THIS IS AN ISOLATED ISSUE.

CONTACTED GM TWICE AND NO ASSISTANCE FROM GM. I PURCHASED A AFTERMARKET DOOR LATCH AND REPLACED THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH IN JAN 2018 AND HAVE NO MORE PROBLEM SINCE. DRIVER BACK DOOR I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO OPEN SINCE 2015 AND BECAUSE THE BACK DOOR WONT OPEN, THERE IS NO WAY TO REPLACE THE LATCH. I WAS DRIVING ON THE I89 NORTH IN CONCORD, NH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE RPMS WENT REALLY HIGH. I HEARD A SPINNING NOISE - LIKE SOMETHING WAS SPINNING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE DIDN'T INCREASE THE CARS SPEED. THEN I SHIFTED TO THE MANUAL MODE AND TRIED TO USE THE GEAR SHIFTING PADDLES TO SHIFT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A GEAR TO GET ME TO THE NEXT EXIT EVEN THOUGH IT KEPT SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE I PROCEEDED SLOWLY OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON STEADY. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT PUT MYSELF AND EVERYONE AROUND ME AT RISK OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT. ONCE I WAS OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFE, I PLUGGED IN MY DIAGNOSTICS TOOL I CARRY IN MY CAR (I TOOK A AUTO REPAIR CLASS A FEW YEARS BACK). THE DIAGNOSIS CODES THE CARS COMPUTER PROVIDED ARE P0776 AND P0700 - INDICATING A MAJOR MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION AND A SOLENOID PROBLEM. I TOOK A PHOTO OF THE CODES. I FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2009 CHEVY MALIBU'S. THE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 5/100K TO 10/120K. CLEARLY GM SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR THE 2010 MODELS AS WELL. IT'S THE SAME 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION.

I DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED GM HAD SOME RECALLS BETWEEN 2008 - 2010 DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I LOVED MY MALIBU 2LT PRIOR TO RECEIVING THIS NEWS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. IT APPEARS, GM NEEDS TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE ON THE TRANSMISSIONS OF THE 2010 MALIBU.

THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A CAR CRASH. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE CAR HAD SHUT OFF BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS STILL WORK RADIO WAS ON , LIGHTS WERE WORKING. POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2017. I HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN IN NOVEMBER 2016 FOR THE SAME CONDITION. THERE IS A RECALL FOR CHEVY MALIBUS UP UNTIL THE 2009 MODEL YEAR AND CLEARLY THERE IS A WEAKNESS IN THE 2010. THIS FAILURE WAS WHILE I WAS PARKED IN A TIGHT SPOT AND COULDN'T GET OUT. I RESTARTED THE CAR UNTIL IT RECALIBRATED, BUT IT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY GO AGAIN. REPEAT OF PREVIOUS PROBLEM. ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AFTER COMPLETE FAILURE AT 48,000 MILES IN JANUARY 2017. THAT WAS A MERE $4600. IT FAILED WHILE IN MOTION, BUT FORTUNATELY I WAS UPHILL FROM MY HOME AND I WAS ABLE TO ROLL IT TO THE CURB.

THIS CAR WAS RECALLED AND "FIXED" FOR THIS CONDITION LESS THAN 4 YEARS AGO. OBVIOUSLY THEIR REPAIR IS INFERIOR......IF INDEED IT WAS DONE AS THEY CLAIM. ORIGINAL RECALL NUMBER IS 12V460000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FELLERS CHEVROLET, 715 MAIN ST, ALTAVISTA, VA, 24517) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REBUILT OR REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN AN OPEN RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 152,000.

I FIRST REPORTED THAT THE TRANSMISSION OCCASIONALLY "BUMPED" WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD AROUND 30, 000 MILES. AFTER CHECKING OUT THE CAR, I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T SEE AN ISSUE. I REPLACED THE TIMING CHAIN APPROXIMATELY 90,000 WHEN I TOOK HER IN FOR HER 100,000 SERVICE. WITHIN 4,000 MILES OF THIS COMPLETE CHECK-UP AND VERY COSTLY SERVICE, THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT COMPLETELY ! I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND ASKED IT THERE WAS A RECALL AFTER DISCOVERING THAT NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS HAD BEEN MADE ON THE MALIBU FOR THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. I THEN CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING THEY COULD OR WERE WILLING TO DO TO HELP OFFSET THIS COST ETC. THERE IS NO WAY THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD GO OUT COMPLETELY IN A 2010 VEHICLE THAT HAS ONLY 100,000 MILES ON IT THAT HAD JUST BEEN CHECKED OVER COMPLETELY BY THE DEALERSHIP. I REALIZE THAT MY CAR IS 7 YEARS OLD AND WOULD HAVE LOVED FOR THIS TO BE COVERED COMPLETELY, BUT HONESTLY, I WOULD HAVE SETTLED FOR A LITTLE COMPENSATION AND GENUINE CONCERN. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO AAMCO WHERE IS COST ME IN EXCESS ON $3,000 TO HAVE THE BROKEN WAVE PLATES REPLACED. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MANY COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN FILED AGAINST MALIBU TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND SEEK RESTITUTION IF THAT IS A POSSIBLE OUTCOME.

IT WAS UNDER AN UNFIXED RECALL WHEN I PURCHASED IT. THE DEALERSHIP, PARKWAY CHEVROLET, MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STILL PERSISTS TO THIS DAY. GIVEN THE SUDDEN DECELERATION THAT THIS CAUSES, AND THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, I FEEL THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE DEATH TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR. THE MOST COMMON TIME THAT THIS HAPPENS IS WHEN THE DRIVER IS CHANGING LANES AND THEY GO OVER A RAISED LANE MARKER - ONE OF THOSE LITTLE DOTS SEPARATING LANES IN THE SOUTHERN STATES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS TWO DAYS AGO.

I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CAR WAS SUDDENLY LOSING POWER WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE REVERSE GEAR WOULD, AT TIMES, FAIL TO ENGAGE. THE LOSS OF POWER OCCURRED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 20 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE TRANSMISSION'S 3-5-REVERSE GEAR. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. IN 2015 GM ISSUED A SPECIAL POLICY (BULLETIN NO. 14404, DATED MARCH 2015) FOR THE 2007 TO 2009 CHEVY MALIBU (6 SPEED MODEL) THAT COVERS THE 3-5-REVERSE WAVE PLATE REPAIR FOR 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES. ALSO, I NOTICED ON THE DIAGNOSTIC SHEET THAT THE DEALERSHIP OMITTED THE PRODUCTION DATE OF THE VEHICLE BUT IT WAS OBVIOUSLY MANUFACTURED IN 2009. THE 'IN-SERVICE DATE' IS 12/15/09. BASED ON THE SITUATION I HAVE EXPERIENCED WITH MY CAR, THEY DID NOT FIX THIS DEFECT WHEN THEY INTRODUCED THE 2010 MODEL. I EXPLAINED THE ABOVE CIRCUMSTANCES TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND ALSO TO THEIR CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE BUT THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE REPAIRS FOR THEIR MANUFACTURING DEFECT. SENT INFORMATION TO CHEVROLET AS IT TURNS OUT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM (CRACKED 3-5-R WAVE PLATE) FOR 2008-2009 AND ALL THESE PARTS FAIL AT LESS THAN 100K MILES. TROUBLE I AM HAVING IS THAT CHEVROLET CLAIMS I DO NOT HAVE THE DEFECTIVE WAVE PLATE IN MY 2010, YET THE FAILURE IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE RECALL FOR EARLIER MODELS. $4000 LATER AND NO HELP FROM GM. YET, IF YOU GO ON LINE, TONS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME WAVE PLATE PROBLEM AT LESS THAN 100K MILES FOR CARS LATER THAN 2009. VERY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS SITUATION. I WAS FORTUNATE TO NOT GET REAR ENDED BY A CAR IN MERGING TRAFFIC. OTHERS MAY NOT BE SO LUCKY. GM NEEDS TO ADMIT THE TRANSMISSION DESIGN FLAW WITH THE WAVE PLATE AND RECALL ALL MALIBU CARS FROM 2008-2012 BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY INJURED. MY CLAIM IS IF I HAVE THE SAME WAVE PLATE ISSUE AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES THEN EITHER I DO NOT HAVE THE NEW/IMPROVED WAVE PLATE SPECIFICATION OR IT'S AN INHERENT DESIGN FLAW. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN TRAFFIC, THE TRANSMISSION STARTED TO ACT LIKE IT WAS GOING INTO NEUTRAL, SLIPPING SHIFTS WITHOUT POWER IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC. WITH INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION POWER THIS CAUSED A SERIOUS SITUATION IN TRAFFIC. I WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND LIMP IT HOME. THIS TRANSMISSION HAS 94,000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER, THEY TOOK THE TRANSMISSION APART AND THE TRANSMISSION SUFFERED THE 3-5-R WAVE PLATE FAILURE, THE PLATE HAS A FLAW THAT CAUSES IT TO BREAK APART AND JUST CHEW UP YOUR TRANSMISSION, THIS PART IS A COMMON FAILURE THAT BREAKS AND A FULL REBUILD OF THE TRANSMISSION IS REQUIRED. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW AND THE NEW PARTS THAT ARE USED TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION ARE RE-ENGINEERED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A 6T40 TRANSMISSION, THE BIGGER BROTHER TO THIS TRANSMISSION THE (6T70 AND 6T75) HAS ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ENGINEERING FAILURE. CHEVY KNOW ABOUT THIS FAILURE BUT IS NOT RECALLING THE TRANSMISSION AND REFUSES TO FIX IT. IT COST ME 2500 DOLLARS AND ITS A DRIVING HAZARD WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GOES OUT IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS A DOCUMENTED FAILURE AND HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

I HAD A FRIEND COME PICK ME UP AND TAKE ME HOME WHERE I WENT ONLINE AND BEGAN DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS PART. THAT'S WHEN I CAME ACROSS THE RECALL REF THIS PART . UNKNOWN TO ME BECAUSE I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER. THE NEXT DAY THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND ADVISE ME THAT MY TRANSMISSION GEAR SHIFT CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACE. THEY COULD ONLY CONFIRM THERE IS A RECALL BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. CURRENTLY MY VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING TO BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO ORDER THE PART.I AM VERY UPSET BECAUSE EVERYONE KEEPS STATING RECALLS ARE BASED ON THE PROBABILITY OF THE PROBLEM HAPPENING TO CERTAIN CARS. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU 2LT FWD. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN AUGUST OF 2013, SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MANUFACTURER USED A FAULTY 3-5 REVERSE WAVE PLATE. THIS IS THE SAME WAVE PLATE THAT CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO VEHICLES IN THE RECALL OF SIMILAR VEHICLES IN THE 2007-2009 MODELS. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO MAKE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS SOME SORT OF FREELOADER BECAUSE I DIDNT NOT FEEL A CAR WITH 63000 MILES ON IT SHOULD HAVE A BAD TRANSMISSION. WHEN ALL WAS SAID AND DONE THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE FELL APART AND SHREDDED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR STOPPED ACCELERATING IN TRAFFIC, THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT NOT ONCE NOT TWICE BUT 3 TIMES. AS THE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE THE 1ST 2 TIMES THE CAR STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY, THE VERY FIRST TIME THE DEALER STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THE COMPUTER SHOWED THE FAULT CODES IN THE COMPUTER FROM THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STATING THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION ERROR SINCE THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO MAKE THEM REPEAT IT WAS FINE. 2 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO PAY $500 AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING AND PLEADING AS MY CAR WAS ONLY 5 YRS OLD WITH LESS THAN 65000 MILES ON IT, BUT ALL WARANTEES HAD JUST CONVENIENTLY EXPIRED. I FEEL THAT THIS MUST BE LOOKED INTO, THIS IS THE 2ND COMPLAINT THAT I HAVE FILED DUE TO THE FACT THAT MY CAR STILL DOES NOT RUN CORRECTLY AND IT HAS BEEN DOCUEMENTED THAT IF IT HAPPENS ONCE IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. ON 9/15/15 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN FROM A RED LIGHT WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP OR BANG FROM MY FRONT END, WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO AFTER COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GM THEY FINALLY HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER (AFTER 2 WEEKS) TO HAVE IT FIXED OR LOOKED AT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT WAS ON AT THE TIME RESET IT SELF BUT THE 2CODES FOUND IN THE COMPUTER WERE THE P0716 AND P0717 TRANSMISSION CODES BUT SINCE THEY WERE HISTORIC (WHICH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON EXCEPT FOR THE BREAK LIGHT ISSUE) THE DEALERSHIP SAID MY CAR WAS FINE. I PICKED IT UP AND OFF I WENT. 12 DAYS LATER THE VEHICLE BUCKED MAKING A LEFT TURN, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. I WAS FORCED TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT COME OUT OF 1ST GEAR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHREDDED. THEY WOULD NOT TELL ME WHAT CODES WERE IN THE COMPUTER THIS TIME. BUT AS I STATED WAS AN ISSUE WITH VEHICLES FROM 2007 -2009 THE 3-5 WAVE PLATE BROKE AND CONTAMINATED MY TRANSMISSION. THE CAR IS STILL NOT 100% RUNNING RIGHT. THE CAR STILL HESITATES AND JUMPS AND HAS A HARD SHIFT WITH ISSUES ACCELERATING.

I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED WHILE GOING ABOUT 15-20 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I ATTEMPTED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE. THE ABS HAS ENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. UNTIL GIVING GAS AND LETTING VEHICLE REV UP TO 4,000 RPM IT JUMPED INTO GEAR AND BEGAN TO DRIVE NORMAL AGAIN. NOW THE VEHICLE DRIVES BUT REVS AT 2-3 GEAR AND THEN JUST SLOWS DOWN, THERE WERE 13 FAULT READS FROM CPU WHICH WERE ALL TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE FAULT AND CPU MALFUNCTION. THIS HAPPENED OUT OF NO WHERE AND STANDARD MAINTENANCE DOES GET PERFORMED. I AM TOLD MY WARRANTY EXPIRED 2 MONTHS AGO BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT'S THE MONTH IT WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP. I THOUGHT IT WENT OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN OFF THE LOT. I AM DUE TO PCS IN 56 DAYS TO A NEW DUTY STATION AND NOW MY FAMILY AND I ARE IN A BIND, I LOVE CHEVROLET BUT I AM AT A LOSS RIGHT NOW WITH A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT WILL DRIVE FINE AND OUT OF NO WHERE REV UP AND JUST STOP.

DROVE CAR AROUND TOWN WITH NO PROBLEMS, CAME HOME, PUT CAR IN PARK ON LEVEL STREET AND LEFT IT RUNNING FOR 2 MINUTES, GOT BACK IN CAR PUT IN REVERSE AND NOTICED CAR SHIFTER WAS A LITTLE STIFF. IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING MY CAR IN THE GARAGE, GOING FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE A COUPLE OF TIMES, I NOTICED IT TOOK QUITE A BIT OF STRENGTH TO GET SHIFTER TO MOVE FROM ONE GEAR TO ANOTHER. I WENT IN THE HOUSE AND GOT ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS. I DID SEE THERE IS A GENERAL RECALL FROM GM FOR SEVERAL VEHICLES, MY YEAR AND MAKE INCLUDED. THE PROBLEM IS THE TABS ON THE SHIFT LINKAGE COME OFF AND NOT ONLY CAUSE THE SHIFTER TO BE REAL STIFF, BUT CAUSE THE LITTLE SILVER BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE SHIFTER TO STICK AND NOT COME BACK OUT AFTER PRESSED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE GEARS, CAUSES IS THE SHIFTER TO APPEAR TO BE IN "PARK" BUT IT REALLY ISN'T AND THE CAR ENDS UP ROLLING AFTER THE DRIVER LEAVES IT, PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS GETTING THEIR KEYS TO COME OUT OF THE IGNITION BECAUSE THE CAR WASN'T ACTUALLY IN PARK EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFT LEVER WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. I CALLED THE CHEVROLET DEALER IN WATSONVILLE, CA AND THEY SAID IT SOUNDS LIKE MY CAR DOES HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE SHIFT LINKAGE, BUT MY CAR WASN'T ON THE RECALL LIST, AND EVEN THOUGH MY CAR ONLY HAS 18,100 MILES ON IT, IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY, SO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS FIX. I THEN REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO GM WITH SENIOR ADVISOR [XXX], OPERATOR #[XXX], PLEASE REFER TO CASE #[XXX]. I WAS STOPPED TO WAIT ON ONCOMING CARS TO PASS TO TURN LEFT ONTO A STREET. I TURNED AROUND ON A CIRCLE DRIVE. WE LIVE ON A CULDESAC SO I PULLED AHEAD OF OUR HOUSE, SO WE COULD PUSH IT BACK IN THE DRIVE WAY. ALL THREE TIMES I HAVE TAKEN IT TO AN CERTIFIED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE SECOND TIME THEY FIXED MY TRANSMISSION THE STEERING SHAFT WAS LOOSE AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE. TRANSMISSION FORGETS HOW TO SHIFT WHEN DRIVING UPHILL AT AROUND 65 MPH AND RPMS START BOUNCING BETWEEN 2000 TO 2400 RPM. THIS WILL CONTINUE FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND TYPICALLY HAPPENS WHEN OUTDOOR AMBIENT TEMP IS ABOVE 90F. THIS PROBLEM CAUSES A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON THE HIGHWAY AS CARS ARE BEARING DOWN ON YOU AT 70 MPH PLUS AND YOUR CAR REFUSES TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAR IS A DEATH BOX AND DISASTER WAITING TO HAPPEN. I GUESS BEFORE ANYONE WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE FIRST. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 4 TIMES FOR THE ISSUE AND THEY ALWAYS SAY IT CAN'T BE REPLICATED AND HAVE REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER. THE 2010 CHEVY MALIBU IS A LEMON! I PURCHASED A 2010 CHEVY MALIBU ON MONDAY JUNE 28TH AT FINNEGAN CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON TEXAS. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE IT HAD 14 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. MY FAMILY AND I STARTED TO DRIVE BACK HOME TO KENTUCKY AND AT ABOUT 300 MILES ON THE UNIT, THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED TO ACT UP WITH FLUCTUATIONS AND THEN DROPPED TO 0, UPON WHICH WE CALLED ON-STAR AS AN EMERGENCY AND THEY CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND THEY SAID WE COULD CONTINUE TO DRIVE IT AND HAVE IT CHECKED WITHIN 24 HOURS. WE STOPPED FOR GAS AND RESTARTED OUR TRAVEL WHEN AT 450 IT STARTED BECOMING WORSE. WE CHECKED AGAIN WITH ON-STAR AND THEY SAID IT HAD 3 ERROR SINGLES BUT WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK. AT 491 MILES, THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY FAILED WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MILES AND HOUR AND ALMOST CREATED AN ACCIDENT BUT MY SON WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A STOP. WE DIDN'T CONTINUE BUT HAD THE CAR TOWED TO GWATNEY CHEVY IN JACKSONVILLE, AR. THEY NEXT DAY WE WERE TOLD IT WAS A COMPUTER MALFUNCTION AND THEY ROAD TESTED THE CAR AND IT WOULD MAKE IT TO KENTUCKY. I TOOK OVER DRIVING AND JUST 5 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, LOST COMPLETE DRIVETRAIN/TRANSMISSION CONTROL AT 72 MILES PER HOUR IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT AGAIN DO TO THE DROP IN SPEED.
