The issue I'm having is the traction light is on and my rear break lights stay on constantly. I took the car to a shop and had the break light switch replaced. Two days later the lights was back on. I did some research and there was a recall for the exact issue I'm have (NHTSA14V252) when I gave the Chevrolet dealership my VIN they said there were no recalls but there was three recalls but they are no longer open. Is there any thing I can do? Please help
This is in reference to GM Recall Number: 13036 - I noticed that from time to time the service traction warning comes on, service esc warning comes on, my cruise control stops working suddenly. I didn't think anything of it until I finally noticed my brake lights were illuminated in my back window without my foot being on the brake pedal. I replaced the sensor on the brake pedal hoping that would fix it and it did not. I looked up my VIN for active recalls and for some reason it's saying there are none. This is clearly the recall that is listed. I'm worried I'll be driving and someone may either rear end me or get confused thinking I'm braking when I am not. Very unsafe. I'm just unsure what to do. Any help would be appreciated as I need a vehicle and can't be without one.
The July 14, 2014 recall (13036) describes the issue perfectly. Brake lights come on when gas is pressed, goes off when brake pedal is pressed (very dangerous). Airbag, motor & traction control lights come on, message center says “ESC” “traction control”. We have had the car on multiple diagnostic tools saying it’s the module and the electrical isn’t communicating with the module… according to the recall, it is EXACTLY what is happening. We bought the car recently for our NEW driver not knowing and after HOURS of research and going to mechanics it seems to be the SAME recall but this car/VIN is not included in the recall. My child is going to get rear ended because nothing is fixing the issue and this vin doesn’t have any “recalls”
• Yes, the vehicle is available for inspection upon request. • The failure of the power steering system made it extremely difficult to steer the vehicle, especially at lower speeds, which put my safety and the safety of others at risk by increasing the likelihood of an accident. It would turn on and go off by itself at random spurts, which was very unusual. • No, the problem has not been reproduced by another dealer. • The vehicle has not been inspected by the dealer’s service department. As well as, not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. • No it just randomly had a warning light one day when I got in it to crank it like a normal day. But never warned me before hand, but when it did come on, But it appeared on the dashboard indicating a power steering issue, and abs and brake warning light. The abs and brake warning light first appeared about two weeks before the complete failure of the system. Which I became without a vehicle for about 3 months because of it.
My 2010 Chevy Malibu randomly started having electrical problems a few weeks ago. My gauge cluster lights will not turn on and I cannot see my blinkers or other information I need in the gauge cluster. The gauge cluster lights wont come on so I cannot see how fast i am going at night. The brake lights illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed. The car is difficult to get out of park. After researching the problems I found that GM has issued recalls for the BCM on Chevrolet Malibus recalling certain model year 2004-2012 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles manufactured May 16, 2003, through October 11, 2012. I then contacted my local chevy dealership and they told me my vehicles VIN does not fall under the recall they issued so I would have to pay to have the problems addressed. I explained to the dealership that this is a well known issue and how unsafe that it is and they then told me “There is nothing we do about it.”. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle and I feel that these issues that it is having will put my life at risk and others because these malfunctions will obviously increase the risk of a crash. I feel that it is wrong to have a customer pay for repairs on a part of a vehicle that has recalls and is a crucial safety component.
Brake lights come on as soon as you start the car.Go off when press the brake pedal.Its like they are reversed or something.
Air bag light randomly pop on . Electrical system is so bad that I only have 1 head light and it’s very dangerous driving at night like that .
Brake lights stay on when not even pressing the brake pedal. This causes cruise control to shut off too. Sometimes "Service ESC" and "Traction Control" light will come on randomly too. Had taken it to Chevy dealership multiple times to have this issue fixed but problems seems to come back after a few months.
Brake lights stay on while driving but turn off when braking, engine and traction control lights come on, car acts like it's going to die. This happens intermittently and sometimes without any warning lights. I noticed this again most recently within the last week and several times on 2/25/23. Vehicle has not yet been inspected but was previously taken in for the same issue in 2020. Dealership stated that since the lights weren't staying on and no codes were stored, they weren't required to make repairs. It goes without saying that driving with faulty lights can cause an accident and is also illegal. It is highly irresponsible of GM not to repair this known issue and of NHTSA not to issue a recall.
I was driving the car safely as always and within the speed limits and an officer was heading the same direction, The brake lights got me cited for mechanical repairs. I have noticed the brake lights work yet they do not work with light pressure on the brake pedal. The officer gave a warning about brake lights and it has to be repaired ASAP. What explanation might there be for the brake light? What should I ask the mechanic to look for?
THE BRAKES ARE DOING THE SAME THING THAT WAS RECALLED AND REPAIRED BACK IN 2014. THEY ARE ILLUMINATING WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND TURN OFF WHILE I HIT THE BRAKES. I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER SEVERAL TIMES AND CANNOT GET MY CAR INSPECTED WITHOUT GETTING THIS CORRECTED. I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL PARTS TRYING TO REPAIR THIS BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT CORRECTING THE PROBLEM. CRUISE CONTROL, STABILITY CONTROL AND SEVER OTHER FUNCTIONS ARE NOT WORKING EITHER ALL OF THEM ARE RELATED TO THE SAME RECALL ISSUED BACK IN 2014. IS THERE ANY KIND OF WARRANTY ON THE RECALL THAT WAS REPAIRED?
I purchased the car for my mother on 10/20/2015 from Mike Savoie Chevrolet in Troy, MI. At the time I had a concern because there was a message being displayed on the car “Service ESC”, I was informed by the dealer that it was a false message and there was no issue with the car, we should just disregard but if we had any problems to let him know moving forward. At that time we did not have issues with anything else. There was about 80,000 miles on the odometer when we bought it, there are only about 95,300 now. Recently the brake lights have been coming on when the brakes are not applied, we have taken the car to a mechanic three times for this issue but he has been unable to duplicate it, as a result he felt that the brake pedal sensor was at fault and replaced it, but the issue still exists, a wasted $200! My 17 year old grandson is now using the car, the issue occurred again today and I discovered that this issue may be associated with a recall which also includes the “Service ESC” message which has been on the car since I bought it. However, when I enter the VIN it shows no open recalls. Apparently it was not fixed and the dealer should have fixed it before I bought it or I should have been notified of the recall. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY GRANDSON’S SAFETY AND WILL NEED TO SWITCH MY CAR WITH HIM SO THAT HE CAN BE AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE! Not only do the brake lights come on when not applied, but you need to tap the brake to turn them off at that point other drivers are not aware that the brake is being applied. My 3rd brake light works intermittently. I have bought my car just over a year ago from a pre-owned dealership.

Recently I was almost rear-ended a few times and got curious as to why?? Well yesterday I was following my 2010 Chevy Malibu in another car and noticed that my brake lights stay on when I'm driving and go off when I brake. Very dangerous! I have read other complaints regarding this issue and I think a recall needs to be issued on these cars. It had also disabled my cruise control.
Brake lights illuminate without being pressed. Service ESC and Service Traction Control lights intermittently comes on. Dealer said recall issues has already been fixed.
THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR KEEPS FAILING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE IN MOTION, RESULTING IN FAILED CRUISE CONTROL AND REVERSING MY BRAKE LIGHTS. WHEN THE SENSOR FAILS, THE CRUISE AUTOMATICALLY TURNS OFF, LIKE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. WHILE ACTIVELY IN MOTION, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL TURN ON AS IF THE PEDAL IS ENGAGED, HOWEVER THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF WHILE ACTIVELY BRAKING THE MOVING VEHICLE. THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL BE TRIGGERED AND SAYS "SERVICE ESC" WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR FAILS. MY LOCAL CHEVORLET DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN AWARE OF THE ISSUE SINCE THE SUMMER OF 2017, AND WILL NOT FIX IT. A COMPLAINT WAS FILED WITH CHEVORLET DIRECTLY IN JULY 2019, AND WAS PROMPTLY DISREGARDED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM AND WE ONLY REALIZE IT STILL EXISTS WHEN ONE OF OUR FAMILY IS FOLLOWING THE 2010 MALIBU IN ANOTHER CAR. WE HAD BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN TO A CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER IN THE PAST AND WERE CHARGED FOR A "REPAIR". WHEN WE AGAIN NOTICED THE PROBLEM WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO A FIRESTONE SERVICE CENTER AND THEY CHARGED US FOR A "REPAIR". WE JUST NOTICED THE PROBLEM AGAIN AND NOW ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. A SEARCH OF THE VIN SHOWS NO UNREPAIRED RECALLS SO WE ARE NOT SURE IF THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAD ALREADY BROUGHT IT IN (WE ARE THE SECOND OWNER) OR IF THIS PARTICULAR VIN WAS NOT THOUGHT TO BE AFFECTED. REGARDLESS, IT SOUNDS LIKE A KNOWN PROBLEM AND WE ARE HOPING NOT TO HAVE TO PAY A THIRD TIME AND THEN STILL HAVE AN ISSUE. PLEASE LET US KNOW OUR OPTIONS. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

ADDITIONALLY, AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE REGAINED STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT OCCASIONALLY TWO ATTEMPTS AT RESTARTING THE VEHICLE WERE NEEDED BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING MY CAR SHIFTS/JERKS, AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, ALMOST CAUSING ME TO CRASH. WHEN I COME TO A STOP AT A LIGHT OR SIGN, MY CAR DOES NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE, CAUSING ME TO BE IN AN INTERSECTION FOR LONGER THAN NORMAL BECAUSE MY CAR WON'T TAKE OFF. THE VEHICLE ALSO JERKS INTO DIFFERENT GEARS WHILE ALL OF THESE SERVICE LIGHTS ARE FLASHING. THIS FEELS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE, AND THE PROBLEM CANNOT BE RESOLVED. IT STARTED IN JANUARY AND IS CONTINUING TO HAPPEN DESPITE REPLACING PARTS.

I CURRENTLY HAVE 2 OPEN RECALLS AND WAS NEVER SENT OUT NOTICES FOR EITHER, I AM CURRENTLY 15 WEEKS PREGNANT SO THAT'S A SAFETY CONCERN WITH ME BECAUSE THEY CAN BOTH RESULT IN A CRASH.

I HAVE REPLACED WHEEL HUB/BEARING COMBOS, ALONG WITH ADDING ELECTRICAL GREASE TO THE CONNECTOR FOR THE LIGHT CONTROLS, NOTHING FIXES THIS ISSUE.

THE ESC LIGHT COMES ON AND TELLS ME IT NEEDS SERVICED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON EVEN IF MY FOOT IS NOT ON THE BRAKE. IT ALSO HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GEAR SHIFT WHEN TRYING TO PULL IT OUT OF PARK. THIS ALSO DISABLES MY CRUISE CONTROL. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS SOMETIMES AS SOON AS I START THE CAR OR AFTER DRIVING FOR A BIT. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR IN TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED. THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE SENSOR AND THAT WORKED FOR A WEEK THEN THE ESC LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON.

IN FACT, THEY PULLED THE CAR UP TO THE PICKUP AREA, SAID NOTHING ABOUT THEIR FAILURE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, DID NOT TELL ME THAT THE BRALE LIGHT WAS STILLM NOT WORKING, THEREBY LEAVING ME WITH A CAR STILL BROKEN AND ME AT SAFETY RISK TO DRIVE A CAR WITH BRAKE LIGHT NOT WORKING, AND IN FACT I GOT A WARNING TICKET BY THE POLICE FOR THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT STILL BEUNG OUT

EVEN AFTER BRAKE LIGHT RECALL FROM 2014, I CONTINUE TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATING WHEN I'M NOT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND TURNING OFF WHEN I PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM 'FIXED' SEVERAL TIMES NOW, AND IT KEEPS HAPPENING. MOST RECENTLY, IN JANUARY 2019, AND NOW 6 MONTHS LATER, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS SUCH A HAZARD WHILE I'M DRIVING THAT I DON'T EVEN WANT TO GO ANYWHERE. WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING? IF THIS WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED WITH THE RECALL, IT ABSOLUTELY WASN'T. I'VE SEEN OTHER PEOPLE REPORT THE SAME ISSUE ON THE ONLINE FORUMS, SO I KNOW I'M NOT ALONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED NOW! ISSUE STARTED 08/27/16 WHILE 19 YEAR OLD WAS DRIVING AT NIGHT. AS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS COMPRESSED THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. WHILE DRIVING THEY ARE ON. SERVICE TRACTION AND ESC WARNINGS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND HAVE BEEN ADVISED THERE IS NOT AN OPEN RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE. A CASE HAS BEEN OPENED WITH THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE VEHICLE IS SCHEDULED FOR INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE 09/01/16 AT MILLER AND SONS CHEVROLET. THEY HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE ISSUE. I HAVE A SUSPICION THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE ON A PREVIOUS RECALL (14V252000) AFTER SEEING SOME RECENT COMPLAINTS FROM THOSE WHOM HAVE HAD THE ISSUE FIXED THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS THE 5 TIME IN 2 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE IN THE SHOP. ONCE FOR INTAKE AND EXHAUST SOLENOID REPLACEMENT. "TAPPING NOISES" THESE ULTIMATELY LED TO A TIMING CHAIN REPLACEMENT OF WHICH GM COVERED 800.00. I HAD TO PAY 600.00. IN ALL I HAVE SPENT OVER 900.00 ON THIS VEHICLE FOR REPAIRS WHICH I FEEL SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER OTHER VEHICLE RECALLS. EITHER FIX THE EXISTING PROBLEMS OR TAKE THE VEHICLE OFF THE MARKET AND BUY BACK.

AS I PULLED OUT FROM WORK, I NOTICED THAT AS THE CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN GOING INTO SECOND OR THIRD GEAR, THE RPM'S JUST REVVED. I WAS HEADING DOWN A HILL AT THE TIME, AND WHEN IT GOT TO AROUND 30-35 MPH, THE GEAR CAUGHT (THANK GOODNESS BECAUSE IT WAS STARTING TO GET A BIT SCARY AT THAT MOMENT) AND WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN LIKE NORMAL. I HAD A FEW STOP LIGHTS ALONG THE WAY HOME, AND EACH TIME THAT I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN STARTED DRIVING, THE SAME THING WOULD OCCUR. AS I GOT HOME, I CALLED THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP, DAVID STANLEY CHEVROLET HERE IN OKLAHOMA CITY, TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. IT SAT IN THE GARAGE FOR THE DURATION OF THE WEEKEND, AND THEN I TOOK IT IN THIS MORNING (MONDAY AUG.22ND) FOR MY APPOINTMENT. AS I WAS DRIVING FROM MY HOUSE TO THE DEALERSHIP (AROUND 8 MILES) I NOTICED THAT IT HAD GOTTEN WORSE. A FEW TIMES ON THE TRIP I DID NOT THINK THAT IT WAS GOING TO MAKE IT THE WHOLE WAY THERE AND THEN ABOUT A MILE OR SO FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LATER, I HAD TO GO IN REVERSE AFTER I ARRIVED AND FOUND THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE. I DROPPED IT OFF TO HAVE THEM DO THE DIAGNOSTIC ON IT FOR $120. AS I GOT HOME, MY WIFE AND I DID SOME RESEARCH ON OUR CAR, TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT MIGHT BE WHILE THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS TAKING PLACE. I HAVE TO SAY THAT I WAS SHOCKED BY WHAT I FOUND. WEBSITE AFTER WEBSITE WITH COMMENTS FROM OTHER CHEVY MALIBU OWNERS RANGING FROM 2000, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, AND 2011 DESCRIBING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES I WAS HAVING. ALL DESCRIBING A "BROKEN 35R WAVE PLATE" THAT RESULTS IN A "LOSS OF REVERSE GEAR, SLIPPING OR HARSH 3RD OR 5TH GEAR SHIFT". .

WHEN THE WARNINGS POP UP THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE PEDAL,THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF BRIEFLY WHEN DEPRESSED, HOWEVER, WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME BACK ON AND REMAINS ON. ALSO WHEN THE WARNINGS ARE DISPLAYED, THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGES, AND I'M ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. TURNING THE KEY OFF RESETS THE WARNINGS, BUT THE WARNINGS AND SYMPTOMS RETURN AGAIN - SOMETIMES IMMEDIATELY AND OTHER TIMES IT MAY TAKE HOURS OF DRIVING. GM INSTRUCTED THEIR PERSONNEL TO CLEAN THE PART, APPLY CORROSIVE RESISTANT GREASE TO IT AND REATTACH. THE ISSUE IS, THIS IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX AND THE PROBLEM WILL CONTINUE TO MANIFEST ITSELF UNLESS THE ENTIRE HOUSING IS REPLACED (AT A COST OF ALMOST 600.00). I TOOK MY CAR FOR THE RECALL "REPAIR" IN SEPT OF 2014, THE THIRD WEEK OF JUNE 2015 MY BRAKE LIGHTS STARTED WORKING IN REVERSE ORDER AGAIN. THIS PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, NOT CLEANED. THE PERSON AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID AS MUCH, TELLING ME THAT CLEANING IT WOULD HELP IN THE SHORT TERM BUT ONLY FOR A FEW MONTHS, IF THAT. THAT MEANS THAT GM IS ALLOWING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TO DRIVE THESE CARS KNOWING FULL WELL THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTING SYSTEM IS SUBJECT TO FAILURE, WHICH IS VERY HARD FOR THE DRIVER TO DETECT. PLEASE REOPEN THIS RECALL, OR OPEN A NEW ONE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM FIXED CORRECTLY, JUST THINK OF A MALIBU WITH A FAMILY IN IT STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE SEMI COMING UP BEHIND THEM DOESN'T KNOW TRAFFIC IS STOPPED BECAUSE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT ON, THE DRIVER OF THE MALIBU HAS NO CLUE THAT THEIR LIGHTS ARE WORKING IN REVERSE ORDER, YOU CAN IMAGINE HOW TRAGIC THE ENDING OF THAT STORY COULD BE.

THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM RECALL # 13036 BUT ONCE THEY REPAIR IT, THEY CONSIDER THE RECALL CLOSED EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING IN REVERSE AFTER RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE SO CHEVY CHARGED ME FULL PRICE FOR DIAGNOSTICS BECAUSE THEY SAID THAT THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE ALREADY DONE, SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. WE REPLACED BRAKE SWITCH. A MONTH LATER PROBLEM PERSISTED, CHEVY DEALERSHIP CHARGED $50 FOR RELEARNING BRAKE POSITION, EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS ALL SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN FIXED IN RECALL REPAIRS. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE TRACTION CONTROL/ESC LIGHT IS ON, AND CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK. I HAD MY HUSBAND AND HIS BROTHER PUSH US OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND IT WAS DRIVING FINE FOR THE FIRST 3 BLOCKS, THEN STARTED TO CHUG AND WOULDN'T SHIFT CORRECTLY LEAVING A STOP LIGHT. I TURNED AROUND ON A CIRCLE DRIVE. WE LIVE ON A CULDESAC SO I PULLED AHEAD OF OUR HOUSE, SO WE COULD PUSH IT BACK IN THE DRIVE WAY. WHEN MY HUSBAND CAME BACK OUT IT WAS LIKE LOCKED, WE COULDN'T PUSH IT IN REVERSE. THEN IT WOULDN'T GO FORWARD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD HAVE TO BE ADJUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. DEALER WANT FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEM UNDER THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY. ALSO HAS COLD START ENGINE KNOCK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BRAKE SWITCH FAILED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ERRONEOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I'VE HAD MY CAR IN THE WARRANTY REPAIR SHOP 6 TIMES IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS. FIRST OCCURRENCE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND MY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON FOR ESC OFF, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE ESC AT 20 MPH. THEY'VE REPLACED 4 PARTS ON MY CAR AND TODAY THE SAME LIGHTS SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE ESC HAVE COME ON ONCE AGAIN. IT VARIES (SPEED DOESN'T MATTER) WHETHER OR NOT GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR STOPPING IN A DRIVEWAY WHEN IT COMES ON BUT WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON WHEN YOU TOUCH THE BRAKES. I ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE GOING DOWN THE ROAD (WHEN ITS DARK OUTSIDE) BUT WHEN YOU APPLY THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF. I FEEL THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING BEHIND YOU AND THINKS THAT YOU HAVE LET OFF THE BRAKES BUT YOU ARE ACTUALLY SLOWING DOWN. I DON'T THINK THAT THEY HAVE AN APPARENT FIX FOR THIS ISSUE AS I SEE SEVERAL REPORTS FROM VEHICLES RANGING FROM 2008 TO 2012 ONLINE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. I AM TO TAKE MY CAR BACK AGAIN FOR SERVICE NEXT WEEK TO HOPEFULLY GET IT REPAIRED BUT I AM NOT SO SURE THEY ARE GOING TO FIND THE PROBLEM AFTER ALREADY HAVING IT IN THERE SO MANY TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS INTERMITTANT. WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR OFF AFTER THIS OCCURS THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF. SOMETIMES ONLY FOR A SHORT PERIOD OTHER TIMES FOR A WEEK TO 3 WEEKS BEFORE IT COMES ON AGAIN. *TR
