THE DRIVER'S SEAT HAS NOT BEEN WORKING PROPERLY FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THE SEAT WILL NOT STAY LOCKED IN PLACE AND THIS HAS CREATED A DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IN INTERSECTIONS, WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN MOTION. NOW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, I'VE BEEN ESPECIALLY CAREFUL & PREPARED TO MOVE THE SEAT BACK FORWARD SO I CAN AGAIN REACH THE PEDALS. MY SOLUTION FOR THE TIME BEING - PLACING A WOODEN 2X4 PIECE BEHIND THE SEAT SO IT WILL STAY FIXED. IT'S WORKING, BUT IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT GETTING INTO OR OUT OF THE SEAT. WILL TRY TO REPAIR OR TAKE TO A SHOP IF A RECALL IS NOT MANDATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BASE OF THE SEAT HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 CHEVROLET S10. THE DRIVERS SEAT SLIPPED OFF TRACK AND EXTENDED TO THE REAR SEAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR A POT HOLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BY THE DEALER PER THE WARRANTY AND AGAIN UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FIRST FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 135,000. THE SECOND FAILURE OCCURRED AT 70,000 MILES. THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT OF MY 2000 S10 PICKUP DOES NOT CATCH AFTER YOU MOVE IT FORWARD TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE BACK OF THE SEATS. IN ORDER TO GET CATCH, I HAVE TO PUSH AS HARD AS I CAN BACK INTO THE FULL BACK POSITION. IF THIS IS NOT DONE AND I MAKE A SUDDEN STOP THE PASSENGER AND SEAT ARE THROWN FORWARD TOWARD THE WINDSHIELD. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THEY SAID THE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE PASSENGER SEAT BUT DID FIX THE DRIVER'S SEAT THAT WAS DOING THE SAME THING. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR REPORTS ON SOME WEBSITES ABOUT S10'S. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE. THIS IS THE THIRD S-10 I HAVE OWNED AND AM DISAPPOINTED IN THE CHEAT METAL USED AND THE REPAIR COST. THE PLASTIC THIRD DOOR HANDLE ALSO BROKE WHICH WAS A $75.00 REPAIR. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BACK THE TRUCK UP, THE BACKS OF THE SEATS ARE TOO HIGH AND IT OBSTRUCTS MY VIEW. ONE NIGHT WHILE TRYING TO BACK MY TRUCK UP IN MY YARD, MY VIEW WAS TOO OBSTRUCTED AND I HIT A TREE. THE TAILGATE OF MY TRUCK WAS DOWN, AND WAS DAMAGED. IT IS UN-REPAIRABLE. I WAS BACKING UP AT ABOUT 5 MPH, SO THE AIRBAGS DIDN'T OPEN. THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FROM THE BEGINNING. I HAVEN'T CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, BUT IF YOU ADVISE ME TO DO SO, I WILL. THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES JUST WENT MADE A GRINDING NOISE AND I HAD TO ALMOST PUSH THEM TO THE FLOOR TO STOP...I WAS GOING 35-40 MPH AND SOMEONE IN FRONT OF ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. SINCE THEN, THE BRAKES SCRUB AND MAKE A GRINDING NOISE IF I DON'T STOP GRADUALLY. THE BRAKE PADS WERE LOOKED AT AND ARE OKAY. I'M NOT A MECHANIC, BUT IF IT'S NOT THE PADS, THEN WHAT IS IT???
