AIR BAG LIGHT ON AND CAN'T GET PARTS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET S-10. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE AIR BAG ON LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE AIR BAG WITH THE SWITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS PUSHED BACK TO THE RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
DEFECTIVE AIR BAGS ON 2002 CHEVROLET S10 TRUCK. CONSUMER FEELS THAT THE AIR BAGS ARE DEFECTIVE. DURING THREE DIFFERENT ACCIDENTS THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED THE LAST ACCIDENT TOTALED THE VEHICLE. *JB
THE TRUCK WAS IN A HEAD-ON COLLISION WITH A LARGE TREE AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE WAS HIT IN CENTER OF BUMPER WITH SUFFICIENT FORCE TO PUSH ENGINE INTO BULKHEAD AND DISTORTING DASHBOARD AND INTERIOR. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. MY FATHER WAS KILLED IN THE ACCIDENT. POLICE REPORTED HE WAS NOT WEARING A SEAT BELT. OUR CONCERN WAS WHY WASN'T THE AIR BAD DEPLOYED DURING CRASH. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WAS NOT ILLUMINATED SHORTLY BEFORE THE CRASH. *AK

ON FEBRUARY 13, 2007 H THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT ON A DRY DAY WHEN A VEHICLE GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH HIT HIM IN THE REAR , CAUSING THE CONTACTS VEHICLE TO COLLIDE INTO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. UPON IMPACT, NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO STATE FARM INSURANCE COMPANY, AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO REASON WAS GIVEN FOR WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THE DRIVERS SEAT BROKE. UPDATED 05/08/07. *JB

THE CONSUMER HAS NOT SPOKEN WITH THE MANUFACTURER OR DEALER TO FIND OUT WHY THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER PLANNED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER. *JB

UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, AND DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. AS A RESULT, CONSUMER HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUSTAINED A CONCUSSION. VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. MANUFACTURER'S INVESTIGATOR AFTER INSPECTING THE AIR BAGS INDICATED THE REASON THAT THEY DIDN'T DEPLOY WAS BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T HIT RIGHT. *AK
