My heater started to shut off then I’d turn it off then turn it back on then it’d come back on again. That went on for a few days. Started my truck in the morning and let it warm up for a few moments when I hear truck is on fire. The fire was in the cab of the truck. It was investigated and they said fire started in the right side of the dash which is where the faulty part is from what I’ve learned about other Chevy trucks same make model and year as my truck

I was driving in normal conditions around 45 mph with the air conditioner on high. Smoke starts pouring out from underneath the dash on the passenger side and once I get stopped the blower motor resistor had caught fire. I was able to put the fire out myself no incident report was filed. It caused damage to my dash but I was able to extinguish it rather quickly to avoid further damage. I just bought this pick up for my 17-year-old son and if he had of been driving things could’ve been a lot worse especially if his reaction time is any slower than mine.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER- THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS IS THE SPEEDOMETER IF I HIT A BUMP THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING MY TRUCK SOMETIMES DIES ON ME GOING DOWN THE ROADS, I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND TOLD ME IT'S A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BUT SINCE MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WASNT WORKING COULD NOT NARROW IT DOWN.. WINDSHIELD- FRONT MAKES A WHISTLE SOUND WHEN YOUR GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT SINCE I HAVE OWNED IT.. BATTERY- BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO AND SOMETHING KEEPS DRAINING IT SOMETIMES CAUSING IT TO HAVE HESITATION AND BOGS OUT.

THE TPS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CHECK ENGINE CODE KEEPS GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE TPS CODE GOES OFF THE ENGINE LOSES TOTAL POWER AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL REMAINING EVEN AFTER REPLACING DIFFERENT WIRES.

THE MILEAGE ON THIS VEHICLE IS 68,901, HOURS DRIVEN 2,498.6. I CAN'T TELL WHAT THE AMOUNT OF GAS, OIL PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, ETC. IS. I REALLY THINK WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE THIS PANEL SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER.

WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR SMOKE CAME OUT. THE TRUCK HADN'T BEEN DRIVEN IN TWO DAYS AND NOTHING WAS PLUG IN TO THE CHARGING OUTLET. THE ENTIRE DASH HAD MELTED. THE HEAT WAS HOT ENOUGH TO CRACK THE WINDSHIELD AND POP OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. THE VHELIHICLE WAS PARKED THE DRIVEWAY OF THE PRIMARY RESIDENCE.

IN ADDITION, THE AIR CONDITIONER CIRCULATED WARM AIR WHENEVER ACTIVATED. THE BLOWER MOTOR CONNECTOR WAS NOT REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE MOTOR RESISTOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

THE IGNITION SEEMS TO BE THE PROBLEM. I AM BRINGING THIS TO EVERYONES ATTENTION JUST IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE HAS THE SAME TYPE OF VEHICLE. WHEN THE TRUCK IS CRANKED AND AT IDLE AND IN MOTION THE HEADLIGHTS AND ALL PANELS BLINK. THE LIGHT ON THE PANELS DO NOT COMPLETELY GO OUT BUT IT DIMS. THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE WENT COMPLETELY OUT A FEW TIMES WHILE IN MOTION. WHEN THE INTERIOR LIGHT IS ON IT ALSO BLINKS AND DIMS. AT TIMES THE RADIO GOES HAYWIRE AND STARTS GOING THROUGH ALL OF THE STATIONS. THE HEADLIGHT CONNECTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AND WE NOTICED THAT THE WIRING THAT GOES TO THE HEADLIGHTS IS VERY BRITTLE AND WHERE THE CONNECTORS PLUG INTO THE BULB WERE BURNT AND THE PRONGS ON THE BULB WERE ALSO BURNT AND MELTED. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SOME TIME AND WE CAN'T SEEM TO FIND WHAT IS CAUSING ALL OF THESE PROBLEMS. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW,DOOR, AND MIRROR PANEL ONLY HALFWAY WORK. SOMETIMES THE DRIVERSIDE WINDOW WILL GO DOWN AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T THE DRIVER SIDE PANEL WILL NOT CONTROL THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR, LOCK, OR WINDOW EITHER. I WAS DRIVING ON A DOWN HILL ROAD WITH A STOP SIGN AT THE BOTTOM. I BEGAN TO PRESS THE BRAKE AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I COULD NOT GET THE TRUCK STOPPED AND ENDED UP IN AN EMPTY FIELD TO AVOID A WRECK WITH IMPACT. THERE WAS A HUGE WET SPOT ON THE STREET WHERE BY BRAKES FAILED. VERY SCARY WITH MY YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK WITH ME. THE BRAKE LINES WERE ALL RUSTED AND HAD GIVEN WAY. ACCORDING TO THE REPAIR SHOP (AND THE INTERNET) THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. I AM ALSO NOW HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY INSTRUMENT PANEL GOING CRAZY. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SAY I AM TRAVELING 110 WHEN I AM ROLLING UP TO A STOP SIGN. THE FAN BLOWER WILL BE ON 0 AND IT WILL BLOW OUT AT FULL FORCE AND WILL NOT TURN OFF, EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. THIS ULTIMATELY RESULTS IN A DEAD BATTERY. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE SEVERAL JUMP STARTS. THIS ISSUE ACCORDING TO MY MECHANIC IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, MY VIN # PRODUCES NO RESULTS FOR RECALLS. WHEN MY TRUCK IS STARTED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A DAY THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WILL BE FULLY OPERATIONAL. IF THE TRUCK IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILS TO COME ON, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES I START AND STOP THE TRUCK. IF THE TRUCK SITS OVERNIGHT AND IS RESTARTED THE CLUSTER FUNCTIONS NORMALLY UNTIL THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED, AT WHICH TIME THE CLUSTER FAILS TO COME ON. ALL GAUGES, TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, BATTERY, ENGINE TEMPERATURE, OIL PRESSURE ODOMETER, FUEL GAUGE AND ODOMETER FAIL TO OPERATE AT ALL. ON THE RARE OCCASION WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK WITH A NON FUNCTIONAL INSTRUMENT CLUSTER THE CLUSTER WILL SUDDENLY TURN ON. IF I TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT THE CLUSTER FAILS TO COME ONLINE. SEVERAL YEARS AGO I HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SPEEDOMETER NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. NOW THIS PROBLEM IS OCCURRING. ESSENTIALLY, THE VEHICLE WILL LOSE THE FUNCTION OF THE ACCELERATOR WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY GIVEN TIME DURING THE USE OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY IDEA WHY IT STILL IS HAVING THIS ISSUE...THE OTHER DAY THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE SET IN AND AT THE SAME TIME THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. THOUGHT THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT AT THE SAME TIME WAS A ONE TIME DEAL BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE VERY NEXT DAY. THE VEHICLE HAD THIS ISSUE ON THE HIGHWAY THE OTHER DAY AND NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT IS SHOCKING THAT THERE ARE NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE, IF YOU LOOK UP FORUMS ON THIS TOPIC THERE ARE OVER 200,000 THREADS ON THIS VERY ISSUES. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH ON A SMOOTH PAVED COUNTY ROAD WITH MY A/C ON. IT WAS ABOUT 78 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I HAD THE A/C RUNNING ABOUT 15 MINUTES BEFORE THE AIR JUST TURNED WARM. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD IN THAT THE DRIVER DOES NOT ACCURATELY KNOW THE VEHICLE SPEED AND DOES NOT KNOW IF HE/SHE IS TRAVELING AT A SAFE SPEED. WHEN THE SPEEDOMETER READS LOWER THAN THE ACTUAL SPEED (IT MAY READ 5 OR 10 MPH BELOW THE ACTUAL SPEED, OR MAY BE MUCH LOWER, AS THE INDICATED SPEED IS UNRELIABLE), THE DRIVER MAY BE GOING FASTER THAN HE/SHE REALIZES INTO A CURVE OR TURN, WHICH MIGHT LEAD TO A CRASH, POSSIBLY INJURY OR DEATH. I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 AND I WANT TO REPORT THE DEFECTS I'VE NOTICED WITH MY TRUCK. FIRST OF ALL, THE SEAT BELT TENDS TO JAM FOR NO REASON. ANOTHER PROBLEM IS THE A/C SYSTEM. MY TRUCK HAS DUAL CONTROL SYSTEM AND THE DRIVERS SIDE WILL BLOW HOT AIR WHILE THE PASSENGERS SIDE BLOWS SOLD AIR ALL WHILE THE SETTINGS ARE BOTH IN COLD AIR. THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE OIL TEMPERATURE GAUGE A FEW WEEKS AGO STARTED NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE NEEDLES WOULD STICK AND THEREFORE COULD NOT READ GAUGES. AT FIRST THEY WOULD JUST NOT WORK FROM TIME TO TIME, BUT NOW THEY DO NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE A LETTER FROM CHEVROLET INFORMING ME THAT A PROBLEM LIKE THIS COULD HAPPEN AND IF IT DID TO CONTACT MY DEALER FOR AN APPOINTMENT TO INSPECT THE PROBLEM. IF THE DEALER FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM WAS VALID THEN CHEVROLET WOULD REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE LETTER ALSO STATED THAT THEY WOULD ONLY FIX THE PROBLEM IF THE PICKUP FELL BETWEEN THE GUIDELINES OF NO MORE THAN 70,000 MILES OR 7 YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE, WHICHEVER OCCURRED FIRST. THEREFORE WHEN I SPOKE TO CHEVROLET AND MY PICKUP HAD 97,000 MILES, EVEN THOUGH IT HAS NOT BEEN 7 YEARS SINCE PURCHASE, THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO HELP ME BECAUSE I HAD GONE OVER THE MILEAGE RESTRICTION. THE PART CAN ONLY BE BOUGHT BY THE DEALER AND INSTALLED BY A CERTIFIED CHEVY MECHANIC, BECAUSE IT HAS TO BE PROGRAMMED. IT COST AROUND $350.00 TO FIX THIS PROBLEM THAT ONLY OCCURRED BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE PART. I HAVE BEEN A DRIVER FOR A MAJOR DELIVERY COMPANY FOR 20 YEARS AND THIS PROBLEM FALLS IN THE CATEGORY OF A SAFETY ISSUE. THE GAS GAGE DOES NOT WORK, RESULTING IN NEVER KNOWING WHEN AND WHERE THE VEHICLE COULD RUN OUT OF GAS. THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE IS NOT WORKING, THEREFORE NOT ALLOWING THE DRIVER OF THE PICKUP TO KNOW IF THERE IS ENOUGH OIL IN IT AT ALL TIMES TO PREVENT OVERHEATING WHICH COULD RESULT IN BURNING A MOTOR UP. *TR

THE SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2003 SILVERADO STARTED ACTING ERRATIC. AT FIRST THE VEHICLE SPEEDS WERE HIGHLY INACCURATE, I.E. DURING OCTOBER OF 2008, I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS INFORMING ME THAT MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WAS AMONG A GROUP OF VEHICLES AFFECTED BY POTENTIAL INSTRUMENT GAUGE PROBLEMS, AND THAT I SHOULD ONLY BRING MY VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR EVALUATION IF I WAS ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE LETTER WENT ON TO STATE THAT THE VEHICLE WARRANTY ON THIS ISSUE WAS BEING EXTENDED TO 70,000 MILES OR 7 YEARS, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST. WELL, AT THE TIME I RECEIVED THE NOTICE, MY TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 110,000 MILES ON IT, SO I WAS BASICALLY "OUT OF LUCK" AS FAR AS GM WAS CONCERNED. AT THAT TIME, MY VEHICLE WAS NOT EXHIBITING ANY OF THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED IN THE LETTER. HOWEVER, SHORTLY AFTER CHRISTMAS, 2008, MY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DID BEGIN TO MALFUNCTION. BEGINNING WITH THE TACHOMETER NOT READING AT ALL, THE SYMPTOMS PROGRESSED TO SPORADIC TACHOMETER READINGS, AND THEN THE SPEEDOMETER BEGAN TO BE AFFECTED. RIGHT NOW, THE SPEEDOMETER CAN INTERMITTENTLY READ ANYTHING FROM "ZERO" (WHEN I AM ACTUALLY DOING MORE THAN 50 MPH) TO 110 (WHEN I AM ACTUALLY DOING ABOUT 60 MPH). WHEN THE SYMPTOMS BEGAN TO OCCUR, I CALLED MY LOCAL GM DEALER TO SEE ABOUT REPAIRS, AND I WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS "OUTSIDE OF THE REPAIR WINDOW" FOR THE COURTESY REPAIR, AND WHEN I ASKED HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST TO REPAIR IT ON MY OWN, I WAS TOLD "ABOUT $500". THEN I FOUND OUT THAT GM HAD A RECALL OF THE THIS SAME PART OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN MY MODEL OF TRUCK. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THE RECALL NOR WAS I EVER INFORMED AT THE TIME OF SERVICE AT A GM DEALER THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. AFTER FINDING OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL OF THIS PART, I WENT TO THE GM DEALER FOR A REPLACEMENT BUT WAS THEN INFORMED THAT MY VEHICLE HAD PASSED THE MILEAGE LIMIT ON THE RECALLED PART AND THAT THEY (GM) WOULD NO LONGER HONOR THE DEFECTIVE PART. MY PROBLEM WITH GM IS THAT IF THIS DEFECTIVE PART IS A SAFETY HAZZARD THEN GM IS RESPONSIBLE TO REPAIR IT. THEY OFFERED ME A $200 VOUCHER FOR OTHER "MAINTENANCE" AT THE DEALER, BUT REFUSED TO REPLACE THE SPEEDOMETER. I HAVE NOT HAD IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE I WILL BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE ON SOMETHING THAT THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO REPLACE. I AM A DIEHARD GM FANATIC AND HAVE OWNED SEVERAL AND EVERYTIME I HAD A PROBLEM IT WAS MINOR, BUT THIS IS NOT A MINOR PROBLEM. IN THE FORUM I FOUND THERE IS TALK OF A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT AND I WOULD HATE TO SEE THIS PROBLEM GO THAT FAR, WHEN A RECALL WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WHIT OTHER TRUCKS LIKE MINE. THE MECHANIC HOOKED UP A TESTER AND TOLD ME HE DIDN'T SEE ANY PROBLEM. AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE SPEEDOMETER WORKED PERFECTLY, FOR ABOUT 3 DAYS NOW SINCE THEN IT IS A GUESSING GAME WEATHER OR NOT THE SPEEDOMETER IS TELLING ME THE RIGHT SPEED OR IF IT IS WRONG. SO I HAVE BEEN USING MY GPS FOR THE PAST FEW MOTHS. I HAVE TALKED TO OTHER PEOPLE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND ALSO TO CHEVY. CHEVY HAS QUOTED ME ANYWHERE FROM 600-1000 DOLLARS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. WE HAD AN ELECTRIC MALFUNCTION IN OUR STEERING COLUMN. THE STARTER HAD THE INSULATION ON THE WIRE WAS RUBBED THROUGH ENOUGH TOO SHORT OUT AND CAUSE IT TO BEGAN TO SMOKE. THE ENTIRE TRUCK SYSTEM SHUTDOWN. THE IGNITION AND THE KEY WAS HOT TO TOUCH WHEN WE TOUCH IT TO TAKE IT OUT. *LA
