A LITTLE WHILD AFTER TURNING THE TRUCK OFF I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM INSIDE THE TRUCK. AFTER PUTTING OUT THE FIRE, I INSPECTED THE WIRES TO FIND THAT THE BLOWER MOTOR HAD SHORTED OUT AND CAUGHT FIRE. I HAVE HAD A SIMILIAR ISSUE WITH MY 2003 AS WELL BUT WAS ABLE TO CATCH THE ISSUE BEFORE ANY FIRE BROKE OUT. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THIS PART. THANKFULLY NOONE WAS HURT BUT THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE.
THE INTERIOR LIGHTS ON THE GAUGES ALL TURN OFF MAKING IT HARD TO SEE THE SPEED LIMITS. BRAKES SOUND AS IF GRINDING BUT CANT TELL IF ITS BRAKES OR DIFFERENTIAL AND U JOINTS. NOISE GETS LOUDER IN THE CABIN OF THE TRUCK AS I DRIVE ON THE ROAD. 3. SIGNAL LIGHTS TURN ON BRIGHT WHILE ON LEFT HAND TURN SIGNAL. AND CIGARETTE LIGHTER AND OTHER COMPONENTS WONT WORK

THE PASSLOCK LIGHT COMES ON AND THE TRUCK WON'T START. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS GETS BRIGHT THEN DIM. BACK AND FORTH. WHEN THE PASSLOCK COMES ON IT WILL KEEP THE TRUCK FROM STARTING FOR DAYS AT A TIME. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ANYWHERE
RANDOMLY MY TRUCK WILL GO IN ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND TOP SPEED IS 35 MPH. IT HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIME ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CODE THAT POPS UP IS P2135 AND I LOOKED IT UP ON LINE. THE INTERNET IS FULL OF FORMS AND VIDEOS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. EVERYTHING ON THE INTERNET POINTS TO THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. I'VE REPLACED IT TWICE AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY TWICE AND WIRING TWICE. I PUT TRUCK IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES. SPENT A GOOD $1500 TRYING TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND IT STILL POPS UP EVERY COUPLE OF MONTHS.

IN LATE FEBRUARY 2019, I ACQUIRED A TRUCK FROM A USED DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE DONE BUSINESS WITH BEFORE. UPON OBTAINING THIS VEHICLE I STARTED HAVING ISSUES RIGHT AWAY. FIRST ISSUE I ENCOUNTERED, I WAS DRIVING BACK TO KANSAS CITY FROM LEBANON,MO AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN MY BRAKES WENT OUT AND MY STEERING LOCKED UP AND TRUCK STARTED JERKING REALLY BAD. I DROVE LIKE THIS ALL THE WAY HOME AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND LOW AND BEHOLD IT'S COST ME $100 TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. SHORTLY AFTER I NOTICED MY TRUCK WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH GETTING UP TO SPEED WHILE GETTING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WOULD END UP HAVING THE PETAL TO THE FLOOR AND IT WOULD STILL ACT LIKE IT DIDN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE ALMOST LIKE A DELAY AND THEN SLOWLY GAIN SPEED. IT FELT AS IF IT WAS SLIPPING OR IT JUST WASN'T GETTING ANY POWER. MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR HAD WENT OUT WITHOUT ME KNOWING AT THE TIME SO I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM HAD TO DEAL WITH MY OIL PUMP. I FINALLY TOOK IT BACK TO THE MECHANIC I USED BEFORE AND HE RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON MY TRUCK DUE TO HIM NOT FINDING ANY ISSUES BESIDES MY OIL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME BACK WITH MULTIPLE CODES AND 3 OF THEM HAD TO DEAL WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I DECIDED TO TAKE MY TRUCK TO MY BROTHER AND HAVE HIM LOOK AT IT FOR A SECOND OPINION. UPON DOING SO HE TEST DROVE AND INSPECTED THE TRUCK ENTIRELY AND CONCLUDED THAT HE DIDN'T FEEL THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE TRUCK AT ALL. HE RAN HIS OWN DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AS WELL BUT HIS CANE BACK WITH NO CODES THAT CAME UP AT ALL. SO I DROVE OFF CONFUSED BECAUSE OF ALL THE DIFFERENT INFORMATION THAT WAS GIVEN TO ME ON TOP OF THE PROBLEMS I KNEW I WAS HAVING BECAUSE THE TRUCK WASN'T RUNNING LIKE IT DID WHEN I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT. SOME TIME PAST AND THEN ANOTHER PROBLEM. MY BRAKES AND ROTORS WERE TRASHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ASAP AND THEN MY ODOMETER STARTED READING SERVICE AIR BAG AND WOULD NOT GO OFF.

I PARKED MY TRUCK THE BLOWER WORKED FINE GOT IN IT 2 HOURS LATTER AND IT DID NOT WORK.THE WIRES TO MY BLOWER MELTED AND HOT ALMOST STARTED A FIRE IN MY TRUCK. NO SMELL NO SIGN OF THE WIRES GETTING HOT. THE ONLY THING I NOTICED WAS THE CONTROL PANEL GOT HOT WHEN IT WAS ON SO I KEPT IT OFF. IF I HAD NOT TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP 2 DAYS AFTER MY BLOWER STOPED WORKING I MIGHT NOT HAVE MY TRUCK. IT MIGHT HAVE CAUGHT FIRE WITH MY KIDS AND I IN IT OR WITH MY 17 YEAR OLD DRIVEING. THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2011 ON THE RESISTOR AND CONNECTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR AND THAT WAS REPLACED IN MY TRUCK THEN. I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME PARTS AGAIN. AFTER HAVING A RECALL ON THESE PARTS WHY WOULD THEY GO OUT AGAIN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME?
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON 8-10-2015 AND WAS DRIVING AT 70 MILES A HOUR WHEN THE ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN. I RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED MISSING OUR REAL BAD, I THOUGHT IT WAS MAYBE SOME BAD GAS. I NOTIFIED THE GAS STATION AND THEY STARTED CHECKING THE GAS OUT. WHILE THEY WERE DOING THAT, I TOOK IT TO A MECH. AS THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLE THE GAS, PUT A CAN OF SEAFOAM AND TRY TO USE THE GAS UP. I DID AND IT KEPT GETTING WORSE , IT WOULD NOT IDLE AND KEPT STALLING OUT. I TOOK IT TO A MECH AND THEY FOUND A INTERMITTING WIREING PROBLEM. IT WAS A "IGNITION COIL WIRE HARNESS"TOOK TO DAYS TO FIND, THEY REPLACED IT AND RUNS GOOD NOW..ODOMETER READING WAS 55315. THEY CHECKED EVERY THING TWICE BEFORE THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM IN THE 2 DAYS THEY HAD IT.
LEAVING THE CAR WASH, FAN QUIT WORKING AND I SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. PIGTAIL TO RESISTOR HAD A BURNT WIRE. GOT PIGTAIL FROM DEALER FOR $95.00. PARTS MANAGER TOLD ME THEY REPLACE 4 OR 5 A MONTH. STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. PURCHASED FAN RESISTOR FROM AUTO PARTS STORE. PROBLEM FIXED. APRIL 2010 THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. WENT TO SALVAGE YARD AND GOT 2 USED PIGTAILS AND INSTALLED ONE OF THEM. RESISTOR SEEMED TO BE OK. APPROX. NOVEMBER 2011 RECEIVED LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS SAYING THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME FOR THE PARTS. I DID GET $95.00 BACK FOR THE PIGTAIL BUT COULDN'T FIND THE RECEIPT FOR THE RESISTOR. APRIL 2015 PROBLEM OCCURRING AGAIN. I STILL HAVE ONE USED PIGTAIL I WILL HAVE TO INSTALL, MAYBE THE RESISTOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. NOW I KNOW THAT THE GAUGE IS 1\4 OF A TANK OFF. SOME AUTO TECHS HAVE TOLD ME THAT WHAT THEY CALL A FUEL CARD THAT IS LOCATED ON THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY IS BAD. NEXT MY REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCKED UP ON 695 AND I SPUN OUT I BROUGHT THE TRUCK BACK TO THEM. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRED WELL THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP. SO I STARTED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE TURNED ON AND MY FRONT 2 WHEELS STARTED DRAGGING ALONG WITH MY BACK WHICH MADE MY TRUCK COME TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF YORK ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE UNKNOWN REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I PARKED MY TRUCK IN A BANK PARKING LOT AFTER RUNNING ERRANDS. I WENT INTO THE BANK LOBBY, LOOKED BACK, AND NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS FLASHING. I RETURNED TO THE TRUCK, THINKING I SET OFF MY PANIC ALARM, ONLY TO FIND SMOKE FILLING THE CABIN. AFTER THE SMOKE CLEARED, I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY TO AUX POWER AND NONE OF MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS WERE WORKING (E.G. WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS, ONSTAR, RADIO). AFTER INSPECTION, THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOUND THE MAIN BODY WIRE HARNESS HAD MELTED THROUGH FROM HEAT. THE FINAL ANALYSIS IS THAT THERE IS A SHORT IN THE WIRE HARNESS THAT CAUSED THE ENTIRE HARNESS TO MELT. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE HARNESS AND CARPET BECAUSE THE SHORT IMMEDIATELY DRAINED THE BATTERY AND DID NOT ALLOW THE HARNESS TO HEAT UP TO A COMBUSTIBLE TEMPERATURE. *TR

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON MY TRUCK HAS GONE BAD. THE AMPERES ARE POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN. THE TEMPERATURE REGISTER HAS GONE COMPLETELY AROUND, THE OIL PRESSURE GAGE IS PEGGED ALL THE WAY. THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS FOR 20 MINUTES AND THEN LOCKS UP. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHERS WHO HAVE SILVERADOS AND THEY STATE THEY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN GREAT BESIDE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE AC BLOWING HOT ON ONE SIDE AND COLD ON THE OTHER. WITH THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN ON THESE TWO ITEMS, IT SHOWS WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT TO BE A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. MY FAMILY BELIEVES IN CHEVY TRUCKS BUT THEY SHOULD KEEP OUR LOYALTY BUT CORRECTING THE SMALL MANUFACTURER DEFECT TO PROVE THEY ARE THE BETTER PRODUCT INSTEAD OF LEAVING THEIR LOYAL PATRONS TO FIX SUBSTANDARD ITEMS PLACED IN A GREAT TRUCK. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500, 4-DOOR. I HAD MY WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE TRUCK. WHEN WE GOT TO OUR DESTINATION, MY DAUGHTER COULD NOT OPEN HER DOOR (REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR). I CONFIRMED THE DOORS WERE UNLOCKED BY USING THE AUTOMATIC LOCK/UNLOCK FEATURE I HAVE ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE, BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK. I TRIED TO MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, BUT THE DOOR WOULD STILL NOT OPEN. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME THE ELECTRONIC LATCH HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME THEY HAVE HAD A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THE LATCHES WHICH PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM OPENING. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK DOWN THE FREEWAY, THE ENGINE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON AND A WARNING APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD STATING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" AND THE TRUCK SHUT ITSELF DOWN TO 10 MILES AN HOUR IN SECONDS. I HAD VEHICLES COMING UP BEHIND ME TRAVELING AT 60 MPH AND HIGHER THAT NEARLY HIT ME FROM BEHIND. EVEN IF I FLOORED THE GAS PEDAL THE TRUCK WOULD NOT SPEED UP MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP HAD MY TRUCK 2 DAYS AND CHARGED ME $400.00 FOR AN EMISSIONS PART. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP ON THURSDAY EVENING, JAN. 20, 2011, AND IT BROKEN DOWN THE VERY NEXT MORNING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I TOOK IT RIGHT BACK OVER THERE AND THEY TOLD ME TO RETURN IT ON MONDAY JAN. 24 WHICH I DID. THEY RETURNED THE TRUCK TO ME ON WEDS. JAN. 26, AND SAID THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM BUT MAY HAVE BEEN A LOOSE WIRE. THE TRUCK BROKE DOWN WITH THE SAME ISSUE AGAIN ON FEB 14. THE DEALERSHIP HAD IT ANOTHER 3 DAYS AND SAID THEY SOLDERED SOME CONNECTIONS. AGAIN ON MARCH 10, MY TRUCK BROKE DOWN AGAIN, SAME ISSUE. THEY HAD MY TRUCK UNTIL MARCH 14, AND AGAIN CHARGED ME FOR REPLACING THE WIRING HARNESS AND THROTTLE BODY. I PICKED MY TRUCK UP AT 6 PM MON MARCH 14 AND IT ALREADY BROKE DOWN AGAIN THIS MORNING MARCH 16, SAME ISSUE. ON TWO OCCASIONS NOW I HAVE HAD MY KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT, DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE ENGINE DECIDES TO SHUT ITSELF DOWN. NO ONE AT CHEVY SEEMS TO CARE IF WE ARE INJURED OR KILLED WHEN WE ARE HIT DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE TRUCK. I AM NOT THE ONLY CHEVY OWNER REPORTING THIS PROBLEM. NOT ONLY ARE THERE COMPLAINTS ALL OVER THE INTERNET, BUT THE DEALERSHIP HAD ANOTHER TRUCK IN AT THE SAME TIME AS MINE AT THE MARCH 10 VISIT, WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUE AND IT HAD ALREADY BEEN IN MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE AS WELL.

SOME RESEARCH ON THE WEB, AND ON HERE, SHOWS THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON AND EXPENSIVE REPAIR. OPINION OF SEVERAL, INCLUDING ME, IS THAT THIS IS A DESIGN DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN A SAFETY ISSUE. HEATER AND A/C NO LONGER WORK SO NOW HAVE NO DEFROST IN THE WINTER , CAN LIVE WITHOUT THE A/C BUT COULD NOT MELT THE ICE IN THE WINTER. BOUGHT AC/DELCO PIGTAIL CONNECTOR REPLACEMENT PARTS AND REWIRED THEM TO SPEC AND TURNED ON A/C AND IT WORKS, ONLY PROBLEM IS THE WIRES GET SO HOT IT BURNS YOUR HAND AT THE TOUCH AND YOU CAN SMELL THE WIRE COVERING STARTING TO MELT AGAIN. IT IS MY OPINION THAT IF LEFT UNCORRECTED MY TRUCK COULD CATCH FIRE IF A HEAVER GAGE WIRE IS NOT INSTALLED TO MAINTAIN THE CURRENT OF THE BLOWER MOTOR. MY TRUCK HAS 39000 MILES ! ! ! *TR

I MANAGE A FLEET OF VEHICLES FOR AN ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. SO FAR THREE 2006 CHEVY TRUCKS HAVE HAD THE FAN CONTROL MODULE, LOCATED UNDER THE DASHBOARD IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT, FAIL. I HAVE PURCHASED GMC PRIOR TO THIS CHEVROLET. I DO LIKE THE PRODUCT BUT GMC HAS INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THESE TYPES OF PROBLEMS. AIR CONDITIONING FAN CONTROL MELTED, WHILE I WAS DRIVING THERE WAS A STRONG ELECTRICAL FIRE ODOR. I TURNED OFF MY FAN AND WHEN I RETURNED HOME I FOUND THAT THE FAN RESISTOR GM PART# 89019088 AND THE CONNECTOR GM PART# 15862656 HAD MELTED. BARE WIRES WERE VISIBLE AND THE PINS IN THE CONNECTOR WERE TOUCHING. INITIALLY BEFORE THIS OCCURRENCE THE FAN HAD STOPPED WORKING AT THE HIGHEST SPEED THEN THE NEXT LOWEST SPEED AND FINALLY STARTED TO BURN UP. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE FOR SOMEONE WHO MAY NOT BE FAMILIAR WITH THE ODOR OF BURNING OF AN ELECTRICAL NATURE. I DID REPLACE THE RESISTOR AT A COST OF $55.00 AND NOW NEED TO GET THE CONNECTOR WHICH IS AT A RIDICULOUS COST OF $95.00. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. I WOULD THINK GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS SINCE THEY ARE PROBABLY SELLING QUITE A FEW OF THESE ITEMS. ONE OF THE PARTS COUNTER PERSON'S I SPOKE WITH KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE. *TR

FROM PURCHASE OF THE NEW VEHICLE THE LEFT DRIVER SIDE MIRROR SHAKES, AM UNABLE TO SEE OUT OF IT. UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT, THE TRUCK SHAKES. DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO ADMIT THESE PROBLEMS EXIST. THE VALVES ARE CLATTERING IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE DRIVING, NOT JUST WITH ACCELERATING. ROTORS ACT AS THOUGH THEY ARE WARPED. UPON RESETTING THE OIL CHANGE INDICATOR LIGHT, THE BATTERY FAILED. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REFUSED TO LOOK INTO THIS. *JB

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONSULTED, WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE WAS PURPOSELY DESIGNED IN THAT MANNER. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED THAT WHILE THE IGNITION WAS IN ACCESSORY POSITION A CHILD WAS ABLE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE OUT OF PARK WITHOUT APPLYING THE FOOT BRAKE. AS A CONSEQUENCE, THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND ACROSS THE STREET.
