The dash of my Chevy Silverado is cracked and continues to crack, on 9.27.2023 a couple of large pieces broke completely out of the dash which is right by the airbag on the right side of the dash. Now I have a gaping hole. As far as I see at this time there are no recalls for the dash.
Frame has rusted out beyond repair
I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED INNER AND OUTER ROCKER PANELS ON BOTH SIDES, REPLACE COMPLETE BED 6-14-2019 AND NOW MY WHOLE FRAME FROM THE COWL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
Dash cracking, fuse box continues to throw codes, front end problems
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE 405 FREEWAY MY DASH BOARD STARTED TO CRACK AND HAS BEEN CRACKING PIECES OF THE DASH HAVE FALLEN DOWN BY MY FEET BRAKE PEDAL AREA . THE DASH IS SLOWLY GETTING WORSE AND SCARES ME.
FACTORY PAINT DEFECT ON ROOF, SOME RUST FROM CENTER ROOF LIGHT AREA,ALSO CRACKED DASHBOARD.
MY 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO NEW BODY STYLE THE BED NEEDED REPLACED WITH 116000 ON IT SO WHEN I TOOK THE BED OFF I NOTICED THE FRAME WAS SHOT IF YOU WANT MORE PHOTOS I KNOW I NOTICED THIS PROBLEM IN FEBRUARY BUT I DIDN'T KNOW I COULD DO A COMPLAINT TO YOU ALL ABOUT THE SAFETY I ALSO CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE CONCERN AND THEY DIDN'T REALLY CARE ABOUT IT
THERE IS A LARGER CRACK THAT IS OCCURRING ON THE FAR CORNER OF THE DASH WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED. THIS IS DUE TO THE PLASTIC THAT WAS USED IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE DASH. UPON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT, PLASTIC PIECES MAY BREAK OFF AND HARM OCCUPANTS. UPON RESEARCH THIS SEEMS TO BE COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE MODEL OF VEHICLES. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON BOTH THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SECTIONS OF THE DASH BOARD HAD EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE CRACKS THAT EXTENDED APPROXIMATELY 18 INCHES EACH. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DASH BOARD WAS MADE OF A HARD PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER GENT CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (2715 35TH AVE, GREELEY CO) WHO INDICATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL DOCUMENTED AND REPORTED BY MULTITUDES OF CONSUMERS THROUGHOUT THE NATION. GM/CHEVROLET REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY SUPPORT WHEN CONTACTED VIA PHONE. THE LOSS OF STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY ALSO POSES A HAZARD AS THE PIECES VIBRATE AND CAUSE A DISTRACTION FOR THE DRIVER. MY DASH BOARD WAS REPLACED AT APPROX. 80000 MILES DUE TO THE SAME ISSUE IN NEARLY THE SAME LOCATION. THIS PROBLEM SHOULD WARRANT A RECALL AND/OR A STREAMLINED AVENUE TO REPAIR THE KNOWN DEFECT. THERE ALSO SHOULD BE SOME REQUIREMENT FOR ENGINEERING TO REVIEW THE DESIGN AND REMEDY THE SITUATION FULLY.

TWO YEARS BEFORE I HAD A CLEAN CT SCAN WITH JUST A SLIGHT DISC BULGE, NOW ALL MY DISCS ARE SMASHED KNOWN AS SCHMOR'LS DEPRESSIONS CAUSED FROM THE REPEATED UP AND DOWN BEATING ON MY SPINE FROM DRIVING THIS SILVERADO FOR THE LAST TWO YEARS UP AND DOWN THE CALIFORNIA FREEWAYS. THERE ARE TIMES IT SHAKES SO BAD I FEEL I AM GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. IT IS A DEFECT THAT COULD CAUSE SOMEONE (LIKE ME) TO INJURE THEIR FINGER IN THE LOCK OR JOLT A PERSONS WRIST AND ELBOWS (LIKE ME) AND CAUSE HARM. THIS DEFECT NEEDS TO BE CALLED TO GM ATTENTION AND HAVE THESE ISSUES REPAIRED.

THE REPAIR WAS NOT PERFORMED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WHILE BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLANKING NOISE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER STOPPED THE CLANKING NOISE; HOWEVER, IT RECURRED A WEEK LATER. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE SHOP AT LEAST EIGHT TIMES FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT THERE IS NO REMEDY TO SATISFY THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD NOT ACCEPT THE VEHICLE BACK UNLESS ALL THE FAILURES WERE RESOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,386.

I STOPPED AND INSPECTED FOR DAMAGE ON MY VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE OTHER PICKUP INVOLVED. NONE WAS INITIALLY SEEN, EVEN BY A WITNESS. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER INSPECTION A WHILE LATE, A PORTION OF MY BUMPER (THE PLASTIC END CAPS) ARE NOW RUBBING AGAINST THE PAINT. I BARELY BUMPED ANOTHER VEHICLE, NOW I HAVE TO SHELL OVER $1000 TO FIX SOME DAMAGE. YOU CAN NOT EVEN SEE WHERE THE COLLISION OCCURRED (THE FACE OF THE BUMPER) ON MY VEHICLE, JUST THAT THE BUMPER IS BENT. 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICKUP TRUCKS HAVE A PLASTIC PIECE HOLDING THE TAIL LAMP IN PLACE. THIS IS THE ENTIRE LIGHT ASSEMBLY UNIT ON THE REAR OF THE TRUCK WHICH INCLUDES THE BRAKE LIGHTS, BACKUP LIGHTS, RUNNING LIGHTS, PARKING LIGHTS, EMERGENCY FLASHERS, TURN SIGNAL, WIRING HARNESS ETC., THE ENTIRE REAR LIGHT HOUSING ASSEMBLY. FACTORY WORKERS "OVER" TORQUED THIS PLASTIC PART AT THE FACTORY. DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THIS PART BREAKS AND THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT FALLS OFF AND DANGLES JUST INCHES ABOVE THE PAVEMENT AS THE ELECTRICAL WIRES ARE STILL ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY IF THIS HAPPENS AT NIGHT. THIS HAPPENED WITH THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT AT 20,000 MILES WHICH WAS REPLACED, AND AGAIN WITH THE LEFT TAIL LIGHT AT 46,000 MILES WHICH CHEVROLET REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR. THIS IS CERTAINLY A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHICH COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH IF ON A BUSY FREEWAY AT NIGHT. BE CAREFUL, AS YOU HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING THIS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING. THE ENTIRE TAIL LIGHT, WHEN IT FALLS OUT, IS HANGING AND DANGLING ABOUT JUST INCHES ABOVE THE PAVEMENT. IMAGINE THIS AT 65 M.P.H. ANOTHER DANGEROUS SCENARIO WOULD BE IF THE TAIL LIGHT SHATTERS THIS DEBRIS COULD VERY WELL HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE, MOTORCYCLE OR PEDESTRIAN WHICH COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH. OR....IF THE WIRE BROKE AND SEPARATED FROM THE LIGHTING ASSEMBLY UNIT, THIS COULD VERY WELL GAIN SPEED FLYING THROUGH THE AIR AND HIT A PERSON, ANOTHER VEHICLE OR BUSINESS/RESIDENCE WINDOW/GLASS. DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT WELDS THAT HOLD THE SEAT ON THE FRAME/BODY BROKE CAUSING NOTICEABLE CREAKING AND GRINDING NOISES WITH SLIGHT MOVEMENT WHEN COMING TO STOPS OR ACCELERATING. TL* -THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING A 2005 DODGE DURANGO AT ABOUT 5 MPH WHEN A STICK KNOCKED OFF THE SERPENTINE BELT. THE CONTACT SAID THAT HE THEN LOST POWER TO BRAKES AND STEERING AS A RESULT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND THE DEALER.
