The frame has been rusting out bad for many years. My gas tank is about to fall off it is hanging down do to cross member rusting out, and shocks too. Also body is rusting bad do to not putting the right rust inhibitors in the paint and frame.

On multiple occasions, while driving, my truck suddenly locked/unlocked/locked/unlocked doors, airflow changed from a/c to heat, Stabiltrak disengaged, Parking assist shut off, Traction Control turned off, lights shut off, engine stalled, and was unresponsive.

Started out by sometimes not going into PARK, but now, Transmission will NOT go into PARK. This is hilly country, and I am concerned that the vehicle could roll away, although the parking brake has worked so far. When I park in my driveway, the rear (parking) brakes groan and slip just a little. So far, nobody has been killed.

THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.

TAKATA RECALL # 16V381. I BOUGHT THIS CHEVY NEW AND WAS DRIVING TO LOUISIANA. MY MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS 35,955 MILES. THE RED COLORED SEAT BELT LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TO CLOSE TO THE 36,000 MILE MARK FOR WARRANTY COVERAGE TO MAKE IT TO SHREVEPORT, LA. SO I HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK WITH THE LIGHT ON. I HAVE ASKED DEALERSHIPS IF THEY SEE THE PROBLEM, BUT WAS ASKED FOR A COMMITMENT FOR UNKNOWN AMOUNTS OF MONEY TO CHECK AND REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THANK THE LORD I HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS CONDITION. I WANT TO KNOW IF THIS HAS BEEN THE CASE WITH OTHER MODELS AS MINE. I HAVE A SECOND PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE AN TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT AT ABOUT 92,000 MILES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. LASTLY THE YELLOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON. I HAVE SPENT SEVERAL THOUSAND TO FIX THIS. EVEN AT DEALERSHIP. I WOULD LEAVE AND THE LIGHT WOULD RETURN. SOMETIMES I HAD ONLY DRIVEN A MILE. I HAVE HAD OTHER MECHANICS CHECK IT OUT AND IT APPEARS I HAVE A LIFTER PROBLEM ON MY NUMBER TWO CYLINDER CAUSING INTERMITTENT MISFIRES TO OCCUR. IS THIS ALSO A PROBLEM WITH MY MODEL?

I STOPPED AT A STORE ON MY WAY HOME LAST NIGHT AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT, IT MADE A NOISE LIKE IT WOULD IF YOU TURNED THE KEY AND THE ENGINE WAS ALREADY RUNNING. I HAD THE SAME RESPONSE FROM STARTING IT THIS MORNING AFTER IT SAT IN MY GARAGE ALL NIGHT. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 56,000 MILES ON IT AND GETS REGULAR MAINTENANCE...I'D HATE TO THINK I'VE GOT TO REPLACE THE STARTER ALREADY. IN THE LAST TWO MONTHS I'VE HAD TO DEAL WITH THE "CHECK ENGINE / GAS CAP" THING AND REPLACED THE IMPACT SENSOR FOR THE AIR BAG. EVERY WEEK I GET CLOSER TO TRADING IN FOR A NEW FORD. *TR

I REVERSED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY INTO A TWO LANE ROAD. I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT MOVE. I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO A GM DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE SPRAG CLUTCH FAILED AND SENT METAL PIECES THROUGH THE REST OF THE TRANSMISSION TO THE POINT THAT IT WAS UNREPAIRABLE. THEY PUT A WHOLE NEW TRANSMISSION IN. THEN THEY DISCOVERED THE TRUCK WOULD STILL NOT MOVE. THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS LOCKED UP TOO AND NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REBUILT. I ENDED UP PAYING $4,765.89 TO REPAIR A 2008 TRUCK WITH 89,437 MILES ON IT. *TR

THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD STRONG SULFUR SMELL AFTER THE FIRST YEAR. I COMPLAINED TO CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. BY YEAR THREE I COMPLAINED FOR THE THIRD TIME AGAIN WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW A CODE. I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE HE RETURNED SAYING THE CAT WAS JUNK IT WAS REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD ONLY TO RUN TOP TIER GAS I DID THAT BUT AFTER ABOUT 8 MONTHS IT SMELLED AGAIN MY TRUCK IS JUST FIVE YEARS OLD AND I NEED ANOTHER CONVERTER, MY POWER LOCKS HAVE EACH BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN SECOND AND THIRD YEAR. WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR SIGN, WHEN YOU RELEASED THE BRAKES IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HIT THE REAR BUMPER. THIS IS CAUSE BY THE YORK AT THE REAR OF THE TRANSMISSION IS STICKING. GM DEALERSHIP WILL SAND AND LUBE THE LUBE. THIS COVERS UP THE PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IF YOU WANT THE PROBLEM FIX IT WILL COST YOU ABOUT $350.00. THE YOKE IS NOT COVER BY THE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY. EVEN THOUGH THE YOKE IS THE WRONG ONE,BECAUSE THEY WILL REPLACE IT WITH A NICKEL PLATED YORK AND THEN THE PROBLEM IS SOLVE. THE YORK IS THE PART THAT COMES OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION AND HOOKS TO THE DRIVESHAFT. IF THE YOKE GRABS AND BREAKS THE REAR OF THE TRANNY, THE DRIVESHAFT WILL DROP OUT AND HIT THE GROUND. AT HIGH SPEED THIS COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH THE VORTEC MAX PACKAGE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2008. SINCE NEW, THE VEHICLE HAS IDLED ROUGH AND SURGED AT STOPS. IT FEELS LIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE HAS BUMPED YOU FROM BEHIND. I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN NUMEROUS TIMES TO BE INSPECTED UNDER WARRANTY. GENERAL MOTORS CAME OUT WITH A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN STATING THAT IF THE VEHICLE HAS A ROUGH IDLE WITH NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE. THE ROUGH IDLE CAUSES THE VEHICLES RPM'S TO SPIKE LEADING TO THE SURGE CONDITION. I HAVE ASKED FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED NUMEROUS TIMES UNDER THE EXISTING WARRANTY AND GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT TAKEN ACTION STATING IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC. THERE ARE MANY OTHER SILVERADO OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC. ANY VEHICLE THAT FEELS LIKE IT WAS BUMPED FROM BEHIND IS A DEFINITE SAFETY CONCERN. I AM SCHEDULED FOR AN ARBITRATION HEARING ON JULY 11, 2011 WITH THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND GENERAL MOTORS TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM. THE IDLE/SURGE PROBLEM HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES PER WEEK. MY WIFE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM WHILE DRIVING THE SILVERADO AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED ME ASKING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. NORMAL OPERATION UNTIL AUGUST 25, 2008. TRANSMISSION FAILURE OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET ENROUTE TO I-95. FAILED IN DRIVE AND COMPLETELY LOST REVERSE GEAR. LOUD SPINNING SOUND WAS HEARD. VEHICLE HAD 37, 351 MILES. THE MECHANIC AT MAROONE CHEVROLET SAID THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE "CLAMSHELL". THAT IT HAD COME APART AND THERE WAS METAL THROUGHOUT THE SYSTEM. THEY RECOMMENDED A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION CHANGE AT THE COST OF $3, 377.07. WE WENT AHEAD WITH THE RECOMMENDED REPAIRS. SO FAR, NO PROGRESS WITH COMPLAINT RESOLUTION THROUGH GMC. *TR

I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY SILVERADO EXT. CAB 4X4 LTZ AND DROVE APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER TRAVELING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION I NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I PROCEEDED APPROXIMATELY ANOTHER 50 YARDS IN AN EFFORT TO FIND A SAFE PLACE TO PULL OVER TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. BEFORE I COULD PULL OVER THE SMOKE INCREASED AND THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BECAME FILLED WITH HEAVY SMOKE. I STOPPED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND USED ONSTAR TO CALL FOR ASSISTANCE THEN EXITED THE VEHICLE AND OPENED THE HOOD TO INVESTIGATE THE PROBLEM. I SAW HEAVY SMOKE AND FLASHES OF FIRE COMING FROM THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE NEAR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ITSELF SHORTLY AFTER TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND THE SMOKE CLEARED AND/OR STOPPED AFTER ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. AFTER THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT CLEARED THE VEHICLE TO BE MOVED, I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT TOWED BACK. AFTER A BRIEF INVESTIGATION THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT "A COMPONENT OF THE TRANSMISSION WAS EITHER IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY DURING ASSEMBLY OR IMMEDIATELY FAILED IN THE FIRST 30 MILES THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN DRIVEN. THIS FAILURE RESULTED IN TRANSMISSION FLUID BEING SPRAYED DIRECTLY ONTO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEREBY CAUSING THE FIRE." *TR
