My vehicle has a recall on it ,I no longer feel safe driving it so I will like to have my vehicle replace with a new vehicle, that doesn't have safety hazard or recall
Vehicle frame rust. Available for inspection. Compromised vehicle frame can result in a catastrophic incident posing a significant safety risk to self and others. Vehicle was inspected by an ASE certified mechanic who identified compromised vehicle frame.
Purchased truck in Massachusetts for 13,000.00 and on the outside it was a beautiful truck. Frame is completely rotted and I was never able to get it inspected and I have no vehicle and no way to repair or replace it.
2008 chev. Silverado severe u underside rusting , including factory tow attachments. uncle has 28599 miles , bought new and not driven in inclement weather. Wax coating on frame almost completely worn off. Was told it will not pass NYS inspection next year.
Cracked dashboard extending from air bag compartment. Cracked dashboard extending from drivers side windshield up to instrument cluster. This truck spends most of its time in the garage and has less than 100,000 miles. First crack appeared around 40,000 miles and second around 88,000 miles.

My 2008 Silverado has rusted and cracked frame and doesn’t pass inspection I am [XXX] and on SSI disability and can not afford to pay for repairs, the truck runs great and has 158,000 miles on it I traded in a 1999 Silverado and it had 240,000 miles on it with no rust and no issues whatsoever should of kept that, I am very upset and disappointed with this truck, can you please reach out to me and help me out any way you can. The frame of my vehicle is rusted out almost completely.I am concerned about my safety and the safety of others if I drive it on the highway ,I have taken great care with my truck I only have around 70,000 miles on it and a frame should last a lot longer than this one has, and I have read other peoples complaints about this vehicle also,I would appreciate any help you can offer me.I have no files to upload or any accidents to report I’m just extremely concerned about driving this vehicle with the frame in the condition it’s in.Thank You
There was no accident but due to the manufacturer not using a rust propellant coating on the frame I have a severely severely damaged frame the structural integrity of my vehicle is compromised and dangerously unsafe the frame is rusted in so many spots there's a few places where it is broke the back end of the vehicle sprain is starting to crumple this should be something that is fixed by GM as a recall it is unsafe it is dangerous it puts my life at risk driving the vehicle and I refuse to put my kids in the vehicle due to the safety issues
As with many chevrolet trucks the frame and cross members have rust to the point that they are breaking off. This is a major safety concern as the support the fuel tank and suspension mounts. It is also a major concern to the structural integrity of the truck. No it has never been inspected by anyone else, as it don't need to be it is very obvious on all GM trucks.
The dashboard is breaking into small pieces. The dealership said this is only cosmetic and refused to fix it. After finding this is a common issue it was recommended to submit this form.

CRACKED DASH PAD
DRIVING FREEWAY SPEED LOST THROTTLE/ACCELERATION CONTROL AND POWER, GAGES WENT OUT OF CONTROL DROPPING TO ZERO COMING BACK UP AND THEN DROPPING AGAIN, RADIO SHUT OFF AND CLOCK RESET. LOCKS WERE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING ON THEIR OWN THEN TRUCK SHUT OFF. HAD TO COAST TO SIDE OF FREEWAY. NO HAZARDS LIGHTS WOULD WORK NO BLINKER. ONCE PARKED ON SIDE OF FREEWAY TURNED OFF IGNITION AND TRUCK WOULD NOT START NO POWER NO NOTHING. HAD TO DISCONNECT BATTERY THEN CONNECT AGAIN BEFORE IT WOULD START BACK UP. WAS TOLD ENGINE WAS REBUILT BY CAR DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM CARFAX DOESNT SHOW THAT BUT DOES SHOW A POSSIBLE ODOMETER ROLL BACK AND A NEW AIRBAG RECALL WAS ISSUED. I JUST GOT CARFAX REPORT TODAY HAVNT HAD THE TRUCK FOR EVEN A YEAR.

I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT IT FROM, OVER CONCERNS ABOUT POSSIBLE SPLINTERING OF THE DASHBOARD IN THE EVENT AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE DEALER ONLY OFFERED TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT. THE QUOTE WAS JUST OVER $1200. HE ALSO ASSURED ME THAT MY STILL ACTIVE, "BUMBER TO BUMBER" WARRANTY WOULD NOT COVER THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT. OF COURSE NOW I'VE GOT A CRACK FROM THE DEFROST VENT TO THE WINDSHIELD, AND CRACKING OVER THE GAUGE CLUSTER SO SEVERE THAT IT IS BASICALLY A HOLE. IT IS MORE THAN OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPONENT IS DEFECTIVE IN MATERIAL, DESIGN, APPLICATION OR MOUNTING METHOD. IT IS ALSO OBVIOUS THAT THIS COMPONENT IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE LIKELIHOOD OF SPLINTERING SHOULD AN IMPACT AND/OR AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT OCCUR. I WAS ON HIGHWAY 84 PASSING ANOTHER CAR AT SPEED 75 MPH THE DOOR LOCKS STARTED CAME ON AND OFF, THE SAFETY BELT LIGHTS CAME ON, THE ENGINE STARTED TO SLOW AND SPEED UP, THE CLOCK WENT FROM 4:00 PM TO 12:00 PM, THE DATE WENT TO 01/01/2004, THE A/C STARTED TO BLOW HOT AIR. I STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER AND TURNED IT OFF, EVERYTHING STOPPED ONLY THE ABS LIGHT STAYED ON. I CALLED ONSTAR TO CHECK WHAT'S WRONG, THEY SAID EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD, CHECK THE TIRES, IF THE TIRES ARE GOOD, YOU ARE GOOD TO DRIVE. ALL TIRES WERE 33PSI. IT IS GOING TO END UP BEING A LIABILITY AND SOMEONE WILL GET INJURED DUE TO THERE CHEAP PLASTIC AND POOR ENGINEERING! I AM WRITING TO YOU TODAY TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN OVER CRACKED DASHBOARDS DUE TO A FAULTY PRODUCT OF GM/CHEVROLET. I HAVE A HUGE CRACK IN MY DASHBOARD WHICH IS NOT CAUSED BY MAINTENANCE OR THE SUN. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT COULD OF CAUSED THIS. I HAVE 3 OTHER PEOPLE AT MY WORK THAT HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE SAME SPOT. YOU CAN ALSO READ ABOUT SEVERAL OTHER STORIES ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. GM REFUSES TO PUT OUT A RECALL TO FIX THEIR FAULTY PRODUCT. I FEAR THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THIS WILL CAUSE PIECES OF THE DASHBOARD TO FLY ABOUT THE VEHICLE CAUSING FURTHER INJURIES TO A PASSENGER IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS.

THE DASH HAS DEVELOPED CRACKS THAT MAY CAUSE INJURIES TO ANY BODY PART THAT CONTACTS IT DUE TO SHARP EDGES. IT MAY ALSO CAUSE INJURY DURING A CRASH AND POSSIBLY BY AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A PROBLEM ON MOST OF THESE VEHICLES. THESE CRACKS DEVELOPED WITHOUT PHYSICAL FORCE OR ANY INDUCED DAMAGE. THE CRACKS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED.

THE QUESTION IS, WHY ARE THE DASHES CRACKING AT ALL !

AS OTHERS ARE WORRIED, THE DASH BOARDS OF THESE TRUCKS AND SUVS IN THE 07+ MODEL YEARS ARE PRONE TO CRACK INTO PIECES, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE DASH CAN BECOME PROJECTILES UPON AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND CAN CAUSE INJURY TO OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH I'M NOT AWARE OF THIS HAPPENING, I AM CONCERNED, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS, THAT THIS CAN POSE A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD.
THE DASH ON MY 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS CRACKED NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ACROSS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ONE CRACK ACTUALLY MET ANOTHER LARGER CRACK AND A PIECE OF THE DASH HAS FALLEN OFF LEAVING A HOLE.

I HAVE A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 LIKE MANY OTHERS I HAVE A CRACKED DASHBOARD. ONE OF THEM IS A SMALL CRACK NEXT TO THE PASSENGER AIRBAG AND ANOTHER MUCH LARGER ONE IS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE ABOVE THE GAUGES. I'VE ALWAYS KEPT MY DASHBOARD COVERED WHEN IT WAS PARKED WITH A COVER THAT GOES ACROSS THE WINDSHIELD AND USED A PRODUCT PROTECT AND KEEP THE DASHBOARD NEW. TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE THE PROBLEM STEMS FROM IMPROPERLY PLACED SCREWS AND CLASPS OR POSSIBLY AN INFERIOR MATERIAL FOR THE DASHBOARD.

THE DASH ON MY 2008 SILVERADO IS CRACKED. THE CRACK IS LOCATED AT THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE CRACK IS LOCATED AT THE TOP LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG OPENING. I AM AFRAID THAT IF THE AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED THE CRACKED DASH WILL BECOME SHRAPNEL AND KILL, OR SERIOUSLY INJURE PEOPLE IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK.

WITH TRUCK STATIONARY, I HAVE INSPECTED AND OBSERVED THE FOLLOWING. DASH HAS CRACKED THROUGH MULTIPLE LOCATIONS TO INCLUDE AREAS FOR STORED AIRBAGS. RATTLING SOUND IS COMING FROM INSECURE DASH. RADIO AND SPEAKERS FUNCTION INTERMITTENTLY AND OTHER TIMES WITH STATIC. REPLACED SPEAKERS IN DOORS AND THAT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. DRIVERS SEAT BELT DID NOT CONNECT TO RECEIVER END. REPLACED PART ORDERED FROM GM PARTS WEBSITE. A CONSTANT WATER LEAK COMES FROM UNDERNEATH DASH ALONG FIREWALL INTO DRIVERS SIDE FLOORBOARDS. WATER SOAKED CARPET AND INSULATION HAS WICKED TO REAR FLOOR AREAS. NO ONE HAS FOUND THE WATER SOURCE, BUT IT HAS RUSTED DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL SCREWS AND RUINED CARPET. WATER APPEARS TO BE WORSE WHEN USING HVACC OR DEFROSTER. REPLACED FUEL VENT VALVE SOLENOID UNDERNEATH TRUCK, NEAR REFUEL CAP/DOOR, THREE TIMES DUE TO CHECK ENG LIGHT.
DASHBOARD HAS 3 LARGE CRACKS THAT OCCURRED WITH NO ACCIDENTS OR TRAUMA TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN CRACKS OCCURRED. THE CRACKS OCCURRED AT THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. THE TWO SMALLER CRACKS ARE AROUND THE AIRBAG HOUSING. (SEE PICTURES)

I HAVE CONTACTED DEALER AND ALSO GENERAL MOTORS WHEN I FIRST NOTICED THIS IN 2014. I ALSO CONTACTED THEM AGAIN IN 2015, I WAS TOLD THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. MY CONCERN IS THEY TOLD ME THAT I KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM AND I NEED TO FIX THIS OR I AM RESPONSIBLE IF THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYING OR A PIECE OF THE DASH INJURING SOMEONE IN THE EVENT THAT THE AIRBAG DOES DEPLOY. I FEEL THIS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

AFTER HAVING DRIVEN VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE FOR AN APPOINTMENT, TRUCK WOULD NOT START AN HOUR LATER; HOWEVER, LIGHTS CAME ON DASH. I WAITED 10 SECONDS AND TRIED IT AGAIN, AND IT STARTED NO PROBLEM. THEN NO PROBLEM STARTING THE NEXT TIME BUT DRIVING AROUND TOWN THE RADIO START SHUTTING OFF FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS BEFORE COMING BACK ON. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES, THEN AS I AM DRIVING, THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTS GOING HAYWIRE, LIGHTS FLASHING ON DASH WITH WARNING LIGHTS & MESSAGES GOING OFF ON DASH, THEN EVERYTHING BUT THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF (DASH LIGHTS, GAUGES, RADIO AND A/C), AFTER ABOUT 5 SECONDS EVERYTHING COMES BACK ON. I IMMEDIATELY DRIVE TO MY MECHANIC WHO HOOKED UP THE COMPUTER TO MY TRUCK AND SAID IT WAS MY IGNITION SWITCH. HE SAID HE COULD NOT GET ME IN THAT DAY AND ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK THE NEXT DAY. SO THE REST OF THAT DAY I DID NOT HAVE ANY FURTHER PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND GOT THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED. WHILE THE MECHANIC HAD MY TRUCK FOR SEVERAL HOURS UNTIL I COULD GO BACK TO PICK IT UP, HE SAID HE STARTED IT MANY TIMES AND IT APPEARED TO BE FIXED. SO I LEAVE THE MECHANIC SHOP AND GO BACK TO WORK, THEN GET OFF WORK 2-3 HOURS LATER AND MY TRUCK WILL NOT START. AFTER ATTEMPING IT 3 TIMES, IT STARTED. I DRIVE HOME WHICH IS 10 MINUTES AWAY AND TURN THE TRUCK OFF AND BACK ON. ONLY WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN THE TRUCK ON, IT WILL NOT START. THIS TIME NOTHING HAPPENS...NO CLICKING SOUND OR ANY ATTEMPTS OF THE ENGINE WANTING TO START....NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIKE BEFORE. IT WAS 2 HOURS LATER BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET JUST LIGHTS TO COME ON THE DASH, THEN ANOTHER 30 MINUTES WENT BY BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO GET MY TRUCK TO START. THIS IS DAY 3 OF DEALING WITH IT AND I DROVE IT TO WORK AND BACK HOME WITH NO PROBLEMS. I CALLED MECHANIC WHO SAID SOUNDS LIKE A GROUNDING PROBLEM. I SAID SOUNDS LIKE COMPUTER SYSTEM.

THE CRACKED EDGES OF THE PLASTIC ARE SHARP AND WOULD DO SERIOUS DAMAGE TO A PASSENGER IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AND/OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. THE TRUCK IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND IS KEPT CLEAN AND WELL SERVICED. THE DASHBOARD CRACKED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS PARKED. ONE OF THE CRACKS IS IN THE CENTER OF THE DASHBOARD AND SPLITS THE DASH INTO TWO PIECES.

MY FATHER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH HIS 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO, HE HAD THE SAME SWITCH PROBLEM THAT OTHER CHEVY VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR. HAVING THE TRUCK CHECKED OUT BY A GMC DEALER HE WAS TOLD HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT CORRECTED AS IT WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THEY TOLD HIM TO USE ONLY THE KEY AND BE SURE NOTHING ELSE IS ATTACHED TO THE KEY. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL STATED ABOUT THE OTHER VEHICLES THAT ARE ON THE RECALL LIST. HIS PROBLEM IS THE SAME AS THOSE VEHICLES. SO WHY NO RECALL ON HIS VEHICLE?
WHEN LOCKS ARE ACTIVATED WITH KEY FOB, DOORS CAN NOT BE UNLOCKED WITHOUT USING KEY FOB. A PERSON COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. CHEVROLET DEALERS DO NOT HAVE A FIX FOR THIS.
DASHBOARD STARTED A SMALL CRACK ON TOP OF DASHBOARD SURROUNDING THERE PASSENGER AIRBAG. ANOTHER CRACK STARTED ON TOP DASHBOARD AND TRAVELED TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE DASH IS NOW SEPARATED INTO TWO PIECES. THE DEALER EXPLAINED MY WARRANTY EXCLUDED TRIM AND COULD NOT WARRANTY THE PART. NO ACCIDENT OR TRAUMA WAS THE CAUSE. GENERAL MOTORS WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY WERE NOT ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER. I NOW FEAR SHARP PLASTIC WILL BE EXPELLED IN THE CAB IF AIRBAG IS DEPLOYED.
