The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds, the instrument cluster became inoperable, and the vehicle shuddered and stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after 20-seconds on all occasions. The traction control, stabili-trak, and the check engine warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,300.

TRUCK PURCHASED BY MY FATHER IN 2010 FROM CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM HIM IN 2016. THE TRUCK HAS UNDER 120,000 MILES AND DUE TO FAULTY ENGINE AND SENSORS THE VEHICLE HAS SEIZED LEAVING ME WITH THOUSANDS IN REPAIR AND NO VEHICLE. THR VEHICLE BROKE DOWN ON ME WITH MY CHILDREN SEVERAL TIMES LOSING PWOER, SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. THERE WAS OIL AND THE PRESSURE UNIT DID NOT READ LOW OR SHUT THE TRUCK DOWN.. MY TRUCK ALSO HAS AN AIRBAG RECALL FROM 2016 THAT THERE IS NO REMEDY FOR. I STILL MAKE PAYMENTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE COSTING THOUSANDS FOR REPAIR. GM SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FAULTY VEHICLES.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY STABILITRACK TURNS OFF THEN FEW SECONDS LATER TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF THEN I GET EITHER A CYLINDER MISFIRE OR THROTTLE BODY CODE. TRUCK THEN GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE WITH ROUGH IDLE. I CAN CLEAR THE CODES WITH OBD READER AND IT RUNS FINE FOR A WHILE.

" TAKARA RECALL ". WHILE DRIVE TRUCK, STABIKITRAK LIGHT COMES ON STATING THAT STABIKITRAK IS OFF. LIGHT THEN TURNS OFF. OTHER ISSUE STABIKITRAK LIGHT COMES ON STATING STABIKITRAK OFF, TRACTION CONTROL OFF REDUCE ENGINE POWER. DASH STATS STABIKITRAK NEEDS SERVICE, TRACTION CONTROL NEEDS SERVICE ENGINE STILL IN LIMP MODE. PULL TRUCK ONTO THE SHOULDER OR SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY TO TURN TRUCK OFF. TRUCK OFF FOR 15 SECONDS TO 1 MINUTES. RESTART THE TRUCK AND DRIVES JUST FINE. TOOK IT TO SHOP. ITEMS THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED AND STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM THROTTLE BODY, THROTTLE BODY SENSOR, MAP SENSOR, MASS SENSOR, ABS MODULE, TRIED TO PUT A NEW ECU ON IT DIDN'T WORK SO PUT OLD ON BACK ON. CHANGED OUT FRONT WHEEL HUBS ASSEMBLY AND STILL DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE IS I'M MOTION DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON NORMAL TO WET TO COLD TO WARM. ALL THIS IS HAPPENING IN BOTH CITY, HIGHWAY AND TURNING. ITS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE TRUCK GOING INTO LIMP MODE AND HAVING TO PULL IT OFF THE SHOULDER OR SOMEONE'S DRIVEWAY.

WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 65-70 MPH, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUT DOWN THE TACHOMETER, SPEEDOMETER, FUEL AND ALL OTHER GAUGES. LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS REMAINED ON. TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT UP AFTER A COMPLETE STOP. SHIFTING TRANSMISSION TO PARK, REVERSE OR NEUTRAL WOULD NOT REGISTER, BUT WOULD SHIFT. SERVICE ENGINE, ABS LIGHT AND STABILITRAK OFF LIGHT CAME ON. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION MESSAGE CENTER READ SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK ON A SIMILAR OCCURRENCE, WHILE COMING TO A STOP. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. DROVE HOME, WITHOUT SPEEDOMETER AND MILES DID NOT REGISTER ON ODOMETER.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL ALERT "STABILITRACK OFF" AND THEN MOMENTS LATER "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". YOU ARE THEN FORCED TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR AT LEAST 1 MINUTE BEFORE TURNING IT BACK ON. THIS CAN HAPPEN ON ROADS WHERE IT IS DANGEROUS TO PULL OVER PUTTING MYSELF AND OTHERS AT RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT. THE TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPLACED AND NO OTHER AUTO SHOP HAS AN ANSWER FOR ME AS TO WHAT IS CAUSING THE ISSUE. THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN RESET MULTIPLE TIMES AND SOMETIMES THIS WILL HELP THE ISSUE NOT HAPPEN FOR A LONG LENGTH OF TIME BUT THE ISSUE ALWAYS COMES BACK. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF REVIEWS OF OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, THE CONCLUSION IS NO ONE HAS THE SAME FIX AND THE MAJORITY OF THE TIME THERE IS NO FIX.

I OWN A 2010 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 68 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, SERVICE STABILTRACK AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING ALL CAME ON AT ONCE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO REDUCE SPEED QUICKLY AND DANGEROUSLY ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AS THE MY SPEED WENT FROM 68 MPH TO LESS THAN 30 MPH IN AN INSTANT. THANKFULLY THE GENTLEMAN WAS ABLE TO SLOW IN TIME- THROUGH ON HIS HAZARDS AND HELP ESCORT ME TO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER. MY TRUCK HAS APPROXIMATELY 67,000 MILE ON IT AND THIS PROBLEM HAS NOW HAPPENED 5 TIMES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS MATTER AND THIS IS KNOW ISSUE AND IS ALL OVER THE GM FORUMS WITH MULTIPLE MODELS. EACH FIX REPORTED COMES AFTER CUSTOMERS HAVE SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE DEALERS TO LOCATE THE ISSUES. GM/CHEVY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND YET THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE EVEN THOUGH IT IS CAUSED FROM A KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART AND CAUSES A DANGEROUS DRIVING SITUATION!

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH DOWN A STEEP HILL, TOWING A UTILITY TRAILER, ON SR87 IN THE MOUNTAINS WHEN THE DOOR LOCKS CLICKED AND THE ENGINE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF WITH NO WARNING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. MY HUSBAND PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AS IT ACCELERATED DOWN A CLIFF AND ATTEMPTED TO RESTART IT WITH NO LUCK. THERE WERE NO CARS IMMEDIATELY AROUND US SO WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP ON A STEEP INCLINE. WHEN WE GOT OUT TO CHECK IT, THERE WAS OIL ALL OVER THE WHEEL WELLS AND STILL NO WARNING LIGHTS HAD COME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD US THE TRANSMISSION WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN ON OUR 6 YEAR OLD TRUCK. THERE WAS ZERO EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THIS WOULD HAPPEN AS WELL AS TO WHY WE HAD NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE ENGINE SHUTTING OFF. WE WERE TOLD TO PAY BETTER ATTENTION TO THE TEMP. EVEN THOUGH IT DID NOT OVERHEAT. CHEVY OFFERED NO RELIEF OR HELP. WE WERE QUOTED A PRICE ABOUT $2000 LESS FOR THE INITIAL TRANSMISSION REPAIR THAN IT WOULD HAVE COST SO WE TOOK IT TO A NON-DEALERSHIP SHOP TO REPAIR. THIS WEEKEND, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE INDICATING LOSS OF POWER AND THE STABILITRACK WARNING CAME ON EVEN THOUGHT THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED BY A DEALERSHIP ON A TSB ABOUT A YEAR PRIOR TO THE TRANSMISSION GOING OUT. THE CODE IT THREW THIS TIME WAS P0305 AND WE WERE ON VERY LIMITED POWER DRIVING BACK HOME FROM A ROAD TRIP. COULD NOT GO MORE THAN 40 MPH UPHILL. EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR OUR SAFETY SINCE THE VEHICLE CAN TURN OFF WITH NO WARNING. ALSO, THE MONEY SPENT IS RIDICULOUS.

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HWY MY VEHICLE ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED DINGING AT ME AND SHIFTING HARD. I NOTICED THAT THE SERVICE STABILITRAK AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WERE ON. THEY STAYED ON FOR ABOUT 5 MIN AND THEN WENT AWAY AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. ABOUT 5 MIN LATER THE SAME THING HAPPEN WITH THE WARNING LIGHTS AND THE VEHICLE STARTED SHIFTING VERY HARD AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME IT CAUSED MY DOORS TO LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THERE OWN. AT THIS POINT I PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY HUSBAND. HE TOLD ME TO SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTART IT, SO I DID. EVERYTHING WAS FINE WHEN I GOT HOME BUT THE NEXT DAY IT BEGAN DOING IT ALL OVER AGAIN WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS AND EVERYTHING SEEMED GREAT FOR ABOUT A MONTH BUT NOW IT IS BACK TO DOING IT AGAIN. I RESEARCHED ONLINE TO SEE IF I COULD FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON AND NOTICED MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. JUST TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF WHY THIS IS GOING ON AND THE GM DEALER IS NOT MUCH HELP AS THEY GIVE A NEW REASON EACH TIME YOU TAKE IT IN TO GET CHECKED.

I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE RECALL ON THE AIRBAG FIXED AS OF THIS DATE. DEALER SAYS THERE IS NO FIX FOR IT. AS FOR THE STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION CONTROL, I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK ON A LOCAL STREET WHEN THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. LUCKILY I WAS ONLY DOING ABOUT 30 WHEN THIS HAPPENED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FIGURING IT WAS A RECALL SEEING AS I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS CHARGED $654.00 TO REPAIR IT. I AM THANKFUL I WAS ON A LOCAL STREET, I CAN ONLY IMAGING WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF I HAD BEEN ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70. I SEE WHERE MANY OTHERS HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM AND I FEEL I WAS CHARGED WHEN THIS IS A SAFTY ISSUE THE CHEVROLET SHOULD REPAIR AT THEIR EXPENSE.

DRIVING 65 ON CRUISE CONTROL WHEN CHECK ENGINE, STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. MESSAGE CENTER SAID REDUCED POWER I GOT TO A SMALL SERVICE GARAGE AND HE TOLD ME I SHOULD SHUT IT OFF WAIT 15 MINUTES AND IT WILL RESET AND IT DID. I DROVE ANOTHER 80 MILES AGAIN THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THE FIRST GARAGE GUY TOLD ME IT WAS A GM ISSUE AND I SHOULD GO SEE THEM THEY SHOULD REPAIR IT. HE SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND IN THE COLD IT GET SLUGGISH AND GM SHOULD FIX IT BECAUSE THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH SOME OF THEM. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 20 MILES LATER. I GOT BACK TO THE GM DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED IT HE CONFIRMED IT WAS THEY THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY BUT DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO REPLACE IT. HE OFFERED TO CLEAN IT (FREE OF CHARGE) AND SENT ME ON MY WAY TELLING ME IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN I SHOULD MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO REPLACE (APPROX. 400-600 DOLLARS). I DONE SOME INVESTIGATING ON THIS MATTER AND FOUND THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE. I STOPPED AT ANOTHER GM DEALER AND EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM HE CONFIRMED THE ORIGINAL THEORY CHECKED THE VIN # AND TOLD ME GM IS FIXING THIS PROBLEM FOR 10 YEARS FROM THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE. I WAS RIDING AT ABOUT 25 MPH ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT CAME ON, ENGINE HAD NO POWER TO PULL. ENGINE STABILIZER CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THIS IS ABOUT THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPEN THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN A 115,000 MILES ON IT. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPEN I CALL THE DEALER THEY REPLACED A SENSOR ON THE THROTTLE BODY. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN THE LAST WEEK. TODAY I WAS SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SUDDENLY WITHOUT WARNING MY 2010 SILVERADO ACCELERATED AND LUNGED FORWARD ABOUT 3 FEET. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOT A CAR OR PERSON IN FRONT OF ME OR I SURELY WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT THEN THE ENGINE STARTED MISSING. AT THE SAME TIME MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILTRAK, ENGINE POWER REDUCED FLASHED ON MY DASH. I LIMPED HOME AT 10-15 MPH MAX! AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR I STARTED IT AND IT RAN JUST FINE "BOTH TIMES".
