I bought a truck from Paul Gerber Auto sales, Inc(used car dealer) in Omaha Nebraska. The transmission is bad because of the torque converter and a known issue where the transmission fluid gets too hot causing the torque converter to become damaged. There are also multiple known safety recalls with this vehicle and the issue with the transmission has been confirmed by a independent mechanic. The dealer had me driving it down roads that didn't take the vehicle through all of its gears so the problem wasn't noticed until after I had gotten on to the freeway. Went on the freeway I noticed that it was shifting up hard and downshifting hard as well as a rumble strip effects in the vehicle struggled to get up to speed or was sluggish. When I was clear and tried to pull out into a lane from an intersection the vehicle struggled to get up to speed and I was nearly rear-ended. That's when I took it to have an OBD reading which caused the check engine light to turn on and notice that codes were pending which means that the dealership cleared the codes before the test drive. Please have not been made aware yet but I will be filing a report.
The air conditioner condenser has a small leak causing the refrigerant to leak out. This is a known problem with all gm Silverado 2014-2017 and a recall needs to be issued. They are all leaking in the same place due to a faulty weld from the factory.
Vehicle is experiencing intermittent electrical issues, including vehicle completely shutting off while driving, driver window security warning message appears, radio, outside temp and fuel economy will reset when starting the truck. Last time it shut down while coming to a stop, a message appeared on the driver information screen saying “3 key programmed to vehicle”. Sometimes before it shuts down while driving, the radio and dash lights go out followed by engine stalling and there are different messages that appear briefly, like, service stabilitrac, roll driver window down & 3 keys programmed. The truck has shut down on me while operating 7 times in the last 3 months! This is EXTREMELY dangerous as i lose power steering & brakes! It has happened while in the middle of a busy intersection, in a round about, pulling into a parking spot, driveway and while driving straight on a road. I have cleaned & checked all ground locations, replaced the battery and alternator, cleaned battery terminals and Cables, checked all the fuses and nothing has made it stop!
I am writing to report a significant mechanical failure with my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, which I believe warrants further attention due to its potential safety implications and its connection to a widely documented defect affecting many GM vehicles equipped with Active Fuel Management (AFM) systems. The engine suffered lifter and camshaft failure. This is a well-known problem with GM trucks using AFM systems and can pose a safety hazard, particularly if the vehicle stalls while driving. Failed Component: The engine’s valve lifters and camshaft failed. The components and repair documentation are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This failure caused loss of power while driving, creating a risk of stalling in traffic, which could endanger both myself and other drivers on the road. Confirmed Diagnosis: The issue was confirmed by the dealership where I service my truck, Team Chevrolet in Las Vegas, NV. They identified the lifter and camshaft failure as the source of the symptoms. Inspection History: The vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by the repair facility. I reported my concerns directly to General Motors and formally requested goodwill assistance and an extended warranty to cover the repairs. However, GM denied my goodwill and extended warranty request despite widespread reports and TSBs. Warning Signs: These warning signs began to show June, 2025 after picking it up from the service department at Team Chevrolet as it had been serviced. The truck was taken back to the dealership within 30 minutes of picking it up.
twice know i have had the truck shutdown when turning to the left at slow speed . Took the truck to a maint shop and they had three codes in the computer but nothing they could fix so they cleared the codes and said to drive it and if it happens again to bring it in and they'll see what they can find out ,but my have to go to agm service center to have it checked . so I'm drive carefully and hope not to have a accident.
the truck went in for the fuel injector number 6 again. went in on June 13 and on the 12 as well. on the 12 they said it was the number 6 coil. they then gave it back but the next day had to be returned again for the same problem. this time they found the number 6 fuel injector was possibly shorted out. the service manager did call and said that i was right that it was the fuel injector. i feel that i paid for a coil that should not have been replaced in the first place.

The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where the upper part of the engine was rebuilt, and the lifters were replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 98,000.

I was driving home from work on 5/9/2025 and my truck slowly started to loose power and I almost got rear ended going up a hill. NO check engine lights or symptoms noted prior I was able to make it to the Chevy Dealer here in town where i Live and dropped off. dealer noted cyl 4 has a misfireand there is a tick noise on that bank.checked and found no compression on cyl 4, removed valve cover and found that the lifter for cyl 4 is broken and pushrod bent. After reasearching found this to be a common problem, contacted Chevy reagarding this as truck is low miles (88k) NO help offered.
While driving to work a month ago (3/19/25) I lost the power to accelerate out of nowhere. And my truck started making this noise, what I can only describe as a winding up noise while trying to accelerate. I was going 55mph on a busy morning commute. There were no warning lights. I pulled over and shut the truck off. Checked oil (even though it was changed a week or 2 prior). Oil was fine. Let truck sit for 10 mins then tried to turn back on, it started but had that winding up noise when just sitting in idle, the check engine light then came on after it was on for a minute or so. Ran codes at home, and truck started making an additional rattle noise on top of the winding up noise when had to be turned on. One code was the crankshaft position sensor, we changed that out. Then the truck wouldn't start. Taken to Dealership, and they said initially they found a broken connector to the engine harness. Fixed that then truck started but still making the rattle/clunk type noise and louder than at home so they continued diagnostics because they said the noise sounds like a rod knock, so rod either being bent/broken/slipping. Further diagnostics found that oil and coolant are mixed along with metal shavings through engine so new engine is needed.
EVERYTHING, it started with spark plugs and boots which is normal, then all of a sudden one ignition coil after the other, then the transmission, now it's the valve cover gaskets, the ENGINE oil cooler lines, the rear main seal, the oil pan itself, like literally everything. The places I took it advised probably getting a whole new engine. Mind you I just financed this truck 2 years ago. The transmission cost me $6,700 dollars out of pocket because my power train warranty wouldn't cover it because some wire. I don't know but there is seriously big problems with this year make and model. Also, the catalytic converters are bad and the exhaust manifold. All these things can't be wrong all at the same time unless there was a major issue prior to me financing when Chevrolet spit these trucks out.

I have experienced engine failure in my 2014 Silverado 6.2L on 3 separate occasions. All caused by the AFM system. Rockers lock into the wrong position while transforming from 4 cylinder to 8 cylinder operation. The first two occurrences bent lifters and caused a failure to the catalytic converter. A certified GM service department at a local dealership replaced parts covered by warranty. On the third occasion the rockers locked into the wrong position, bent push rods, damaged the cam shaft and caused a failure in the catalytic converter. It was taken to the same GM service department at Lou Fusz Chevrolet. My 5 year warranty had expired and GM refused to cover the parts they had previously replaced a year prior. I was quoted approximately $10k for repairs and $16k for full engine replacement. After some back and forth with the service department manager I requested to speak with the lead mechanic. He informed me that it was an AFM system problem he was very familiar with. He stated to me that I would be better off taking it to a private shop and bypassing the AFM system as he was “working on” 10-15 vehicles a month with the same issue. At the time I had reached out to GM corporate about the issue and I did not receive a correspondence. I have all of the paperwork and receipts and all other service records dating back to my purchase of the vehicle in 2018.

check engine light came on and the code was cylinder 7 misfire 'code p0307'. it was replaced the first time and only lasted less than two months. the same code came up again and when they put a new one in they had to tow it back because it failed not even 30 minutes later.

The contact used and OBD tool and retrieved DTC code: P0207 (Power Train injector) and P0300 “Power train”; and a random cylinder misfire was detected. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact there were no open recalls on the VIN. The failure mileage was approximately 69,000.

AFM Lifters failure: - During the AFM activation and deactivation the lifters on my truck were observed to be collapsed causing the engine to malfunction. Transmission/Torque converter: Clunking noise when shifting between gears Makies noise when the gear is in neutral Rough shifting “Chevy Shake” - My truuk shakes violently while driving over 35 miles per hour, tires, alignment, etc was been tripple checked and replaced, dealer states it is within spec (even the shacking).

The vehicle is now at 158,109 Mi as of January 5th 2024 at approximately 148,000 to 152,000 Mi I noticed the transmission and or the rear differential starting to slip have play and making various noises and sounds along with a jerking feeling where you would hit the gas and you could see the tachometer wind up a little bit and then when it seems the gears would catch or however it works it would jerk you forward with a bang feeling like somebody hit you from behind but there's no one back there a few times I would hit the gas to leave from a stop and merge into traffic and the vehicle would not move at all until 2 or 3 seconds had passed for the engine and transmission to finally catch up with each other or something I've noticed many recalls and problems on these Transmissions as well as the same issues on a previous Chevy Silverado 2014 I had prior to this one I'm very concerned that at some point I'm going to try and enter a traffic situation and not be able to have forward motion taking a chance on being part of a collision due to the vehicle not moving forward as required when you hit the gas pedal. I've noticed signs of fluid around my rear differential cover I continuously check the fluid in the transmission it is always fine I would like to have it checked out as the engine is an excellent motor with no obvious problems I take care of it changing the oil and Performing maintenance regularly as expected and required.
Steering assist disabled comes on while driving and Steering locks up and shuts everything off,and then starts back. Very Very dangerous on the road not knowing where or when you're not in control of the vehicle. When this occurs engine stops,no brakes.

Vehicle has intermitten reduced engine display while traveling down the high way. Causes the vehicle to downshift and significantly increase engine RPM. I’m fearing if this continues to happen it will blow up my engine. The ecu shows code p2138. After some research I’ve learned GM is aware of this fsult in their vehicles and I believe they should be the one paying for their mistake. Not me.
When something is hit (or pot hole/ rough road etc.)stabiltrak warning and check engine lights flickers, all panel lights go out, and vehicle seems to shut down briefly because you can notice AC go warmer. This is a safety issue.
I have been getting the Reduced Engine Power message due to the drive by wire components and the truck will go into Limp mode. This is a VERY DANGEROUS event due to the fact that a driver not knowing when this will happen. I have pulled into the road many times before and have this happen, and when it does go into limp mode, you are dead in the middle of the road trying to avoid being hit by on-coming cars. It is a KNOWN issue with GM for years now and many Technical Bulletins have been sent out about it.
Lifter failure happened while traveling home from Florida to SC. I was towing a vehicle and barely made it home. Having to drive at low speeds on the interstate put me at risk for accident. Now that I’m home I’m losing money because I have been unable to work due to not being able to drive the truck. The dealership quoted me $4700 to fix when there is a known class action lawsuit for this exact problem. GM should just replace these motors. This is very dangerous. There were no prior warning signs it just started ticking after stopping for fuel.

Heavy smell of gasoline in the cab and the bed of my truck as well as outside of the truck began on February 23, 2023. The truck is also harder to turn over or start since the smell has begun. Due to the gasoline smell, it is causing a nauseous feeling, severe headaches, coughing and a red flush over my wife’s face when she is in the truck. The transmission line leak has been leaking for quite some time and I have to replace the transmission fluid a least a quart of fluid every two weeks. I was not notified of the Safety Recalls for the Fuel pump pressure regulator and the Transmission oil cooler line leak/ fire danger on my 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. I have taken my truck to be assessed by the Chevrolet Dealer on 03/13/2023, and they determined that my truck does indeed have both of these Safety Recall problems but that they will not repair them. They stated it is a closed recall and my 95k+ miles were too high. The Safety Recall Bulletin #14121 and #13370A both state no mileage limitation and declare my make and model affected by these Safety Failures. I have paid off the loan to my truck early only to be unable to drive it safely or enjoy it. I have never been late on any of my payments and was proud to pay it off early. This model truck has had several Recalls including an incident with the front wheel falling off due to a mechanical failure, that was shocking and frightening when it happened after only owning it for approx. 2 years. With the Fuel leaking and carbon monoxide, and the transmission fluid leaking, the Dealer should take responsibility and repair these problems that they know are a Safety and Fire issue as stated in the Recall Bulletins and make my vehicle operable again. I am only asking that the Dealership provide me with the Repairs they said are needed to the Failures caused by improper installations and or Faulty equipment from the manufacturer as stated in the Safety Bulletin Recalls.
Automatic fuel management system failure has caused a p0300 code as multiple misfire diagnosed to cylinder 4 dead with no compression. This vehicle is no longer drivable and I still owe $21,000. GM knows of this failure for a long time. At current I have no way to pay for repairs and making payments on a truck I can not drive. I bought this vehicle used at 83,000 miles and have put 16,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 years
Using a signal for lane changes causes cruise control to disengage, suspension messages and air bag failure messages as well as tire failure icon would all come on and when leaving the exit ramp and decelerating the engine would die and system would lock up without ability to steer. So dangerous. Then next trip all is good but the engine failing while driving has happened a half dozen times. The last incident was another engine failure during an exit from the interstate in November.
Steering assistance failed during slow speed turn into side street. Vehicle stalled with no power to steer or brake. Engine turned off allowing vehicle to dead stick accross two lanes of traffic for opposite direction. Vehicle came to rest in parking lot nearby. Had there been vehicles in those lanes an accident would have occurred. Dash board monitor gives signals that "stability track" off and check engine have issues. In August of 2017 received recall letter from GM citing problem with EPS (electric power steering). Took vehicle to Serpentini Chevy on August 13th 2017 and they reprogramed EPS Module. Milage at this time was 20,085. They did not charge for repair. In 2017 my vehicle had no symptoms of recall. Now in 2022 this EPS problem is happening with milage 54,000 twice almost causing MVA.

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 which the "O2 Sensors" are going out and causes my truck to run rich and lose horsepower. My truck does burn more fumes from the exhaust causing bad pollution in the air. Can type of action this be considered as a recall.
Truck has rough breaking at low speeds. It’s due to the break pump recall on this make, year and model. The break pump also makes a clicking sound when engine is running. Common in these trucks.
My vehicle started displaying a stabilitrak warning, gauge lights dimming, hard steering, and the ac turning off when I would push the brake pedal while driving. 15 miles later, while making a left hand turn, my vehicle shut off completely which caused a loss of power steering. I was able to avoid an accident as the vehicle did restart. Prior to this incident, I have taken the vehicle in twice to Chevrolet dealerships to diagnose this issue. Both times they stated they could not duplicate the issue so nothing was done. This seems to be a common issue for many 2014 Chevrolet Silverado owners.
The vehicle has experienced dash and screen flickering while driving. When stopped and making turns the engine shuts off and the steering is locked. The whole dash goes blank. The engine is not able to restart or click. Anit-theft warning comes on for no reason. I feel there is a safety issue when driving this vehicle but no recalls have been placed. I don't feel safe driving my babies in the car.
Make a left turn and lose all power the truck just dies in may or may not start right back up
Vehicle losses electric power steering specially at low speeds tends to jump to the right side or locks the steering wheel possibly accident if it continues. There are recalls on most trucks like mine but it seems that my truck is not in the list and it should be this is a real safety issue I believe that I report it to you before.

Transmission Light comes on to say cut engine off, if not done quickly, just dies. It can cut off at any time. I just purchased truck and took it to the chevrolet dealer they told me this year make and model has had a lot of transmission issues that the torque converter fails inside the transmission and they want 6000.00 to fix it, I have not had the truck 60 days

I've heard there is a known ground issue with this model and its can be dangerous when moving if you lose steering control and engine control. This has happened multiple times the most recent was 6/28/2021
Towing 16ft stock trailer with 2 calves- Turning Left onto another 2 lane road which was downhill, Engine shut off during turn, power steering went out, had truck brakes pressed to floor, trailer brakes didn't react. Took everything I had to turn the steering wheel to keep from going off embankment on both sides of road. Finally got stopped when road flattened out. Thank goodness no oncoming vehicle!!! Message on dash to roll up drivers side window. Truck restarted! Truck only has 60100 miles. What is going on with this truck? I could have injured myself or someone else? problem first started about 6 weeks ago. slowing down making a turn my truck would shut down without any warning. once turning left in a four lane highway. once turning into Mc Donalds jumping curb and several other times. took into dealership for a recall told them about problem. they put analizer on it showing nothing. it has shut down several times since and a light on my truck finanally came on saying it was the trucks thief deterrent system. i will be taking this into my dealership again this morning but feel you should be aware of this problem as all control of truck was loss when turning into oncoming traffic.
My truck has developed a radiator leak after 39930 miles. I see from reading on the Internet this is a very common problem with this year of truck. Chevrolet even has a recall to replace the radiator but says my truck is not included. The recall notice is #15829. This ends up being a very expensive repair. I have been quoted $1428.00 by a Chevrolet dealer to replace radiator.
I CHOSE A USED 2014 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 180K MILES. I MET MY SALESPERSON, BERNARD, ON SITE AT PUGMIRE FORD, IN CARROLLTON, GA. WHEN I TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRUCK HAD OFF ROAD TIRES, SO I REQUESTED THAT PUGMIRE PUT REGULAR TIRES ON THE TRUCK BEFORE TAKING POSSESSION. THEY AGREED AND THE TRUCK WAS DELIVERED A FEW DAYS LATER. SOON AFTER DELIVERY, I NOTICED A SOFT NOISE SEEMINGLY COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I INFORMED MY SALESPERSON BERNARD OF THE ISSUE. HE ASKED ME TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK FOR REVIEW. I DID & BERNARD TOLD ME 'IT HAD SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE EXHAUST SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. IT WILL GO AWAY AFTER A FEW DRIVECYCLES'. I DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM SO I HAD THE OBD CHECKED, THAT INDICATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED. I SENT THE DOCUMENT TO BERNARD, THEN I ASKED IF THE VEHICLE HAD A RECENT EMISSIONS INSPECTION, HE SAID HE DIDN'T KNOW. HE APOLOGIZED, BUT STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. AT THIS POINT, I REMINDED BERNARD 1. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SELL A VEHICLE THAT CANNOT PASS EMISSIONS 2. THAT MY BANK HAD NOT YET MAILED THE CHECK. WITH THAT MIND, PUGMIRE FORD FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. SO I AGREED TO AUTHORIZE MY BANK TO SEND THE CHECK. PUGMIRE HAD ARRANGED FOR THE TRUCK TO BE FIXED AT G&S AUTO AND THEY PAID FOR THE WORK. BUT AFTER REPAIR, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNED. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO G&S TO ASK WHY. THAT'S WHEN THEY DETERMINED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD FAILED DUE TO INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE. THEY RECOMMENDED ANOTHER SHOP FOR A 2ND OPINION. THAT SHOP IS CALLED ALL PRO AUTOMOTIVE. ALL PRO CONFIRMED THE DAMAGE AND PROVIDED A QUOTE FOR THE REPAIRS. PUGMIRE FORD VOIDED ALL CLAIMS OF THE VEHICLE BEING AN AN 'AS-IS' PURCHASE WHEN THEY PAID TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTERS. THEY TOOK OWNERSHIP OF IT, AND OPTED OUT AFTER THEY RECEIVED THE CHECK FROM MY BANK.

OIL PUMP HAS A PRESSURE SWITCH ON IT THAT SAYS PUMP OIL AT 10 PPM, IF IT GOES AT 7 PPM IT WILL CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.THE OIL PRESSURE GOING INTO THE ENGINE AT 7 PPM IS NOT S SERIOUS ISSUE AND SHOULDN'T CAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON.I LIVE IN A STATE COUNTY WHERE YOU CAN'T REGISTER YOUR 1500 TRUCK FOR A NEW VEHICLE REGISTRATION WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.THE DEALER WANTS TO BILL ME 10 HOURS OF LABOR BECAUSE OF WHERE THE OIL PUMP IS LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGINE.THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $1,000 FOR THE REPLACEMENT FO THE OIL PUMP AND THE CONNECTED SENSOR.I WOULD LIKE TO SEE A RECALL EFFORT HAPPEN WHICH WILL NOT MAKE THE SENSOR ENACT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FOR SMALL IRREVERENT DISCRETION WITH THE PRESSURE SWITCH.

ROLL DRIVER WINDOW DOWN AND BACK UP, I DID THIS AND THEN IT WENT AWAY. AFTER DRIVING ON A FLAT, PAVED, DRY ROAD AT ABOUT 35 MPH. FOR NO APPARENT REASON, MY TRUCK DISPLAYED A MESSAGE THAT SAID "STABILITY CONTROL", THE ENGINE REVED, RPMS SHOT UP TO 5K AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FLICKER SEVERAL TIMES, RADIO TURNED OFF AND THEN RETURNED TO NORMAL. A SHORT TIME LATER AT A LIGHT AND THE MESSAGE APPEARED AGAIN, THE RADIO AND CLUSTER COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND THEN THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DIED. I PUT IT IN PARK, AND IT RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY, ONLY TO DO IT AGAIN (STARTED AGAIN AS WELL). THE FIRST TWO TIMES THIS HAPPENED, THE TRUCK CAME BACK ON WITHOUT ISSUE AND I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WITHIN MINUTES OF THE SECOND TIME AND I HAD JUST PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. THIS TIME, THE TRUCK COMPLETELY DIED (NO ELECTRICITY, NO ABILITY TO USE BLINKERS, HAZARDS, NO POWER STEERING OR BRAKES ECT. COMPLETE OUTAGE. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF IT NOT COMING ON OR STARTING, I CALLED AAA TO TOW IT AND WHILE ON THE PHONE (APPROX 30 MINUTES, IT CAME BACK TO LIFE ON ITS OWN (RADIO, INSTRUMENT PANEL CAME ON) AND IT STARTED. I TRIED TO DRIVE IT HOME, AND AT ONE LIGHT, IT DIED AGAIN BUT RESTARTED AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT HOME TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. I AM WRITING THIS BECAUSE OF THE DOZENS OF CASES OF THE SAME ISSUES (SOME OF WHICH VEHICLES DIED WHILE AT DRIVING SPEEDS) WITH SIMILAR YEAR AND MODEL GM VEHICLES ON FORUMS. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE WHICH DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION BY GM AND NEEDS TO BE DOCUMENTED.

AT MY LAST 5,000 MILE OIL CHANGE, THE OIL WAS FOUND TO BE 2 QUARTS LOW WITH OIL IN THE COOLANT. GM HAS REFUSED (TWICE) TO ASSIST IN THE COST OF REPAIRS BECAUSE I DID NOT USE A GM AUTO SERVICE FOR MY OIL CHANGES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED EVERY 5,000 MILES WITH DURABLEND BY AN INDEPENDENT QUICK OIL CHANGE SERVICE, A MILEAGE THAT EXCEEDS THE GM 7,500 MILEAGE RECOMMENDATION. I EXPLAINED TO GM CEO MARY BARA THAT I WAS UPSET WITH THIS DECISION - A TRUCK WITH 48,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND THAT GM IS NOT ASSUMING RESPONSIBILITY FOR ITS QUALITY PROBLEMS. THE NEXT DAY, THE SAME CLICKING NOISE OCCURRED AND IT WOULDN'T START AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. I CALLED AAA TO HAVE MY VEHICLE TOWED TO THE SHOP. WHEN AAA CAME, THE MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE. I THEN DROVE IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSIS. THEY COULD NOT PINPOINT THE ISSUE AND RECOMMENDED THAT I TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE NEARBY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, WHICH I DID. THEY HAD IT FOR 2 DAYS AND COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE - DROVE, TESTED, DIAGNOSED MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. TRUCK ALSO DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF POWER LOSS, ETC. TODAY, FOR THE FIFTH TIME IN THE LAST 8 DAYS, THERE WAS AN ISSUE. TRUCK STARTED NORMALLY, DROVE APPROX. 2 MILES AND PARKED. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START, THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED - CLICKING SOUND, LIGHTS LIGHTING UP ON THE DASH BOARD AND THIS TIME, A STABILTRAK ERROR CAME ON AND OFF. TRUCK THEN STARTED AFTER 3 ATTEMPTS SO I DROVE IT HOME. WENT TO RESTART AND THE CLICKING SOUND WITH LIGHTS ON THE DASH LIT UP AGAIN. I DROVE FOR ANOTHER MILE AND AS I WAS ENTERING DRIVEWAY ABOUT 5 MPH AND WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, ENGINE AND DASH LIGHTS WENT OFF AGAIN AND RESTARTED AGAIN. PRIOR TO ALL THIS HEADLIGHTS WERE FLICKERING AND THERE WAS A LITTLE DEADENING IN THE POWER STEERING. TRUCK HAD 72,950 MILES. I CHECKED THE GROUNDING POINTS AND CLEARED OUT THE DEADENING MATERIAL THAT SLIGHTLY IMPEDED IT. NOT SURE THIS WILL HELP. THIS IS ACTUALLY THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. WENT TO FELDMAN CHEVROLET OF HIGHLAND, TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, LAKESIDE TOWING DELIVERED MY TRUCK THERE. FELDMAN WILL NOT COVER REPAIRS STATING OUT OF WARRANTY. THE BATTERY BEING REPLACED WAS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD AND IT WAS THE SECOND BATTERY THE DEALER HAD REPLACED IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. THE INITIAL REPAIRS FAILED. ULTIMATELY, THE PROBLEM WAS A FAULTY STARTER MOTOR. A CHECK OF THE PART NUMBER OF THE FACTORY STARTER MOTOR THAT HAD BEEN REMOVED (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO) INDICATES IT IS COMPATIBLE WITH 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO/GMC SIERRA 1500 WITH THE 4.3L V6 ENGINE. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE. EITHER THE INCORRECT PART WAS INSTALLED AT THE FACTORY OR GM DETERMINED IT IS NOT APPROPRIATE FOR THE 5.3L V8 ENGINE AND DISCONTINUED USING IT FOR THIS MODEL. REGARDLESS, GM NEVER MADE ANY NOTIFICATION OF THE ISSUE.

WE HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 ADDITIONAL TIMES NOW FOR THIS ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS OPENED A CASE WITH GM, AND GM HAS RECOMMENDED MANY THINGS, ALL AT MY COST THAT HAVE NOT RESOLVED THE SAFETY PROBLEM. I FEEL THAT GM IS USING ME AS A CRASH TEST DUMMY. I SENT AN E MAIL REQUEST TO GM DOCUMENTING THIS ISSUE. GM REPLIED THAT THEY WILL ONLY WORK BY TELEPHONE THEY ASK TO RECORD THE CALL BUT WILL NOT ALLOW THE CUSTOMER TO DO THE SAME. ALSO WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED (70-80 MPH) ON HIGHWAY THE STABILATRAK ERROR WOULD APPEAR WHEN I PUT TURN SIGNAL ON TO CHANGE LANES BUT TRUCK HAS NOT YET SHUT DOWN UNDER THAT CONDITION. I HAD THE RECALL FOR SOFTWARE FIX FOR POWER STEERING ISSUES APPLIED IN SEPTEMBER 2017 WHERE PREVIOUSLY I EXPERIENCED NONE OF THESE ISSUES. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN AFTER THE RECALL SOFTWARE FIX WAS APPLIED. THE DEALER SAYS IT'S DUE TO A FILM THAT BUILDS UP ON THE BATTERY CABLE CONNECTION AND CAUSES IT TO NOT HAVE A GOOD CONNECTION WITH THE BATTERY. APPARENTLY THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT FOR THIS ISSUE BUT IT ISN'T A RECALL SO DEALERS ARE CHARGING AROUND $700 TO FIX THIS. HAVING YOUR TRUCK TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AND ONE THAT IS MUCH WORSE THAN THE RECALL FOR HAVING YOUR POWER STEERING GO OUT WHEN TURNING AT SLOW SPEEDS.

I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FIRST THING ON MONDAY, APRIL 2ND, AND THEY RAN TESTS AND FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN SAYING TO REPLACE THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE AND THE JUNCTION BOX. BEING A SERVICE BULLETIN ONLY THOUGH, IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AND WOULD COST $675. BEING THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT CUTS ALL POWER WHILE SOMEONE IS DRIVING, I FEEL THIS TO BE UNFAIR.

RESTARTED AND DROVE HOME. I SPENT ABOUT 30 MINS DRIVING AROUND THE BLOCK AND SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY TRYING TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE YET TO RECREATE.

QUOTED AROUND $900 TO $1,000 TO REPLACE THERMOSTAT WITH A NEW VERSION THAT WILL NOT STRESS CRACK THE RADIATOR AND NEW RADIATOR (SAME PART AS ORIGINAL) IS PUT IN THE TRUCK. WHILE TRAVELING WITH THE VEHICLE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 45MPH THE VEHICLE DROPPED FROM 6 CYLINDERS TO 4 CYLINDERS. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN 4 CYLINDER MODE AND IT HAD TO ACCELERATE THE ENTIRE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT STARTED TO VIOLENTLY VIBRATE (SORRY BUT THAT??S THE BEST DESCRIPTION I CAN GIVE) ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM CHEVROLET SO FAR HAS CHANGED THE TIRES, REALIGNED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, REPLACED THE EXHAUST CLAMPS, ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT LANDERS CHEVROLET, BENTON, AR 72015, ON 10/30/14. THE DEALERSHIP CHANGED THE OIL. ON NOVEMBER 6, 2014, THE ENGINE STOPPED WHILE BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE STREET AT A RATE OF 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. THE SERVICE MANAGER STATES THAT THE BACK TIRES ARE WORN WHICH INDICATES ABUSE. GM WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL TIMES AND EVERY TIME WE HAVE CONTACTED THEM, THE REPRESENTATIVES HAVE STATED THAT THE TIRES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE IS UNDER WARRANTY AND HAS TO BE REPLACED. GM THEN CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED ME AND TOLD ME THAT THEIR GM REP. STATED THAT HE DID NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE DUE TO THE TIRES. WE CONTACTED GM AGAIN AND WHEN THE REPRESENTATIVE CALLED US BACK, THEY STATED THAT THEY ARE NOT GOING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE UNDER WARRANTY BASED ON THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

THE ECM/TCM IS HAVING COMMUNICATION ERRORS OR PROBLEMS CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS TO PRESENT THEMSELVES AT RANDOM UNPREDICTABLE INTERVALS TO DRIVERS. 11.ENGINE MISSES/STALLS WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS AT RANDOM: FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN MERGING INTO ONCOMING FREEWAY TRAFFIC OR TURNING OUT OF PARKING LOTS. AGAIN, THE ECM/TCM IS HAVING SOME SORT OF SOFTWARE COMMUNICATION ERROR WHICH IS CAUSING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS TO PRESENT THEMSELVES AT RANDOM UNPREDICTABLE INTERVALS TO DRIVERS. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK AND TRAVELING BETWEEN 70-75. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO FEEL ROUGH. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WAS ON. I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE IT TO THEM. THE ENGINE IDLED ROUGHLY AS IF IT WASN'T GETTING AIR OR GAS AND WOULD DIE. AS I DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP IT SHIFTED ROUGHLY, WOULD ONLY GO 55, WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY, AND HAD SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF POWER. THE TECHNICIAN SAID THE CODE WAS FOR A MISS FIRE ON PLUG 6. THEY CHECKED TO SEE IF THE PLUG OR WIRES HAD BECOME LOOSE. THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A VALVE SPRING AND LATER DECIDED IT WAS A BENT PUSH ROD AND HAVE DISASSEMBLED THE HEAD TO INSPECT FURTHER. THEY ARE CONTACTING THE ENGINEERING DEPT. AT GM TO FIND OUT WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS ISSUE. THIS IS OUR SECOND TRUCK THIS YEAR. OUR FIRST WAS A 2014 SILVERADO 1500 2X4, PURCHASED IN MAY W/ 4000 MILES, ROLLED DOWN A HILL ON JULY 26TH AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHILE UNOCCUPIED, LOCKED AND IN PARK. GM WAS "UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG", AND CLOSED OUR CASE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY HELPFUL AND THIS IS OUR REPLACEMENT TRUCK. WE TOOK A LOSS BUT UPGRADED TO THE 4X4 BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY BEEN COVERED IN THE RECALL OF JUNE 27, 2014 "IN EFFECTED VEHICLES, AN ELECTRICAL SIGNAL SHORT MAY CAUSE THE TRANSFER CASE TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL WITH OUT THE DRIVER'S INPUT." I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH WHEN I NOTICED THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND SHORTLY AFTER BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH LIKE A FOULED OUT PLUG, SO I WAS CLOSE TO MY HOME BUT BEFORE I GOT THERE THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING EVEN ROUGHER AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED VERY HARD ALSO. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT HAVE IT TOWED VIA CHEVYS 2 YEAR ROAD ASSISTANCE, SO I CALLED AND AFTER WAITING AND CALLING BACK 5 TIMES I CALLED MY OWN TOW SERVICE AND GOT IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID A CODE FOR ENGINE MISFIRE CYLINDER # 5 AND REPLACED BAD WIRE WITH A NEW ONE. ON MY TICKET IT SAYS BULLETIN PIP5159. THE MECHANIC TOLD ME USUALLY THESE PLUG WIRES HAD BEEN FAILING ON TRUCKS WITH LESS MILES THEN MINE. SO I ASKED IF THE OTHER WIRES COULD FAIL AND HE SAID YES-SO BE AWARE AND READY FOR MORE TO FAIL. *TR

EVERYTHING LIGHTS UP ON THE DASHBOARD AND ELECTRONICS WORK BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER TO START. TOTALLY DEAD. DEALER HAD ME CALL CHEVY ROADSIDE AND THEY HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED SOME FUSE BOX PARTS AND BROUGHT TRUCK BACK ON FOLLOWING WEDNESDAY 4/23. HAPPENED AGAIN 2 DAYS LATER AND DEALER CAME BACK AND PICKED THIS UP. I PURCHASED THE 2014 SILVERADO 1500 WHILE IT WAS RAINING. TEST DRIVE WAS FINE, BUT THE SALES PERSON ALREADY HAD THE VEHICLE RUNNING WITH THE DEFROSTER AND WIPERS ON. DROVE HOME (2 MILES) AND PARKED. TURNED ON THE FAN KNOB ( STANDARD WITH A/C MODEL) AND THE A/C TURNED ON, THIS OCCURRED NEARLY EVERY TIME I TURNED IT ON AND ASKED THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER ABOUT IT. I WAS TOLD I AM PROBABLY HITTING IT WITH MY KNUCKLES. I SINCE TRIED ONLY WHILE PINCHING THE KNOB TO AVOID THIS AND THE A/C STILL NEARLY TURNS ON EVERY TIME. ALSO WHEN THE TRUCK SITS A WHILE THE FIRST START IS A HARD ONE BUT AFTER RUNNING AND WARMED UP IT WILL BE FINE TO START. NOT SURE IF THE TRUCK BATTERY NEEDS A CHARGE AFTER SITTING ON THE LOT, I COULD ALSO SMELL A RUBBER BURNING ODOR OUTSIDE AND THROUGH THE VENTS, THOUGHT IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS NEW BUT THEN I SEEN THERE WAS A RECALL 3 DAYS PRIOR. WHEN I TRIED ANCHORING MY SONS CHILD SEAT I FOUND NO SEAT ANCHORS IN THE CENTER REAR SEAT AND ONLY THE ENDS. I WORRY ABOUT HIS SEAT NEAR THE DOOR IF THERE IS A SIDE CRASH. LASTLY, WHY ISN'T THERE REAR SENSORS AT A MINIMUM A MANDATORY ON TRUCKS YET. CAMERAS CAN STILL BE OFFERED AS A OPTION BUT SENSORS SHOULD BE MANDATORY! *TR
