I bought a truck from Paul Gerber Auto sales, Inc(used car dealer) in Omaha Nebraska. The transmission is bad because of the torque converter and a known issue where the transmission fluid gets too hot causing the torque converter to become damaged. There are also multiple known safety recalls with this vehicle and the issue with the transmission has been confirmed by a independent mechanic. The dealer had me driving it down roads that didn't take the vehicle through all of its gears so the problem wasn't noticed until after I had gotten on to the freeway. Went on the freeway I noticed that it was shifting up hard and downshifting hard as well as a rumble strip effects in the vehicle struggled to get up to speed or was sluggish. When I was clear and tried to pull out into a lane from an intersection the vehicle struggled to get up to speed and I was nearly rear-ended. That's when I took it to have an OBD reading which caused the check engine light to turn on and notice that codes were pending which means that the dealership cleared the codes before the test drive. Please have not been made aware yet but I will be filing a report.

I have not had any incidents thank goodness. But I did take it to the shop and they told me as the vacuum pump. It wouldn’t stop my vehicle and I was always nervous about hitting someone or causing an accident. Before then, I had change the breaking pad, taking it to the shop to check on their transmission and none of that was the problem. Please make a recall on this. People could cause or be involving in an accident. It mostly happened when I’m driving in slow between 2-5 miles per hour. It always scare me when backing out of my driveway because the brakes wouldn’t work. I do not have any pictures. I would rather take this to get fixed before causing an accident.

The bus is always parked on the road, my phone slid off the console, when I reached for it, I accidentally moved the truck to the right, and before I hit the bus, I did not have enough time to correct my mistake. I have forgotten everything that occurred from Saturday the 18th up until Friday the 24th. I kept massive migraines the entire week. Now I just have some headaches. The part that scared me the most, is when I realized, not one single air bag deployed. I personally, am so thankful I was able walk away from it. I will never buy another Chevy Silverado.

When my speed decreases to slow for a turn, traffic, red light,etc-I lose complete power in my entire vehicle. A too fast message pops up on dash about Stabilitrak. If I throw it in neutral fast enough it’s fine, but if I don’t, my truck loses all power and I have to open and close my door, restart my truck, the dash tells me to open and close my driver window, and it drives again but my time and date restarts on my dash screen like I disconnected the battery. It doesn’t happen every day. But when it does, it’s scary because I can’t get out of the road. This occurs unexpectedly several times a month for the past few months. I’ve checked for loose battery cables, etc

twice know i have had the truck shutdown when turning to the left at slow speed . Took the truck to a maint shop and they had three codes in the computer but nothing they could fix so they cleared the codes and said to drive it and if it happens again to bring it in and they'll see what they can find out ,but my have to go to agm service center to have it checked . so I'm drive carefully and hope not to have a accident.

I believe Ray Chevrolet (Antioch, IL & Fox Lake, IL) are negligent in that they did not apply treatment as described in TSB #14002A while they had custody of our 2014 Chevy Silverado. The vehicle has been maintained mostly by the Fox Lake, IL location, but was purchased at the Antioch, IL location new. TSB #14002a clearly states that before the vehicle is released to the customer that the treatment should be applied. The vehicle has been maintained mostly at the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il 60020 dealership location over the past 10 or 11 years. Not once did any mechanic or service advisor mention TSB #14002A nor the deteriorating state of the truck's frame. This became a safety issue as described below. I was traveling on [XXX] which is under construction. I hit a bump and temporarily lost control of the vehicle. I also talked to my wife who also drives the vehicle. She said it sounded like an empty gas can was rolling around in the truck's bed. I took the vehicle into Ray Chevrolet at the Fox Lake, Il 60020 location and talked to a service advisor and told him about temporarily losing control of the vehicle and what my wife said about the loud bangs. We received notification from the Ray Chevrolet Fox Lake, Il dealership's service center via DM with a video attached. I watched the video and called the service advisor. The service advisor told me that the repair wasn't worth doing because it was more expensive to do than what the truck was worth. The same service advisor told my wife they would not do the repair which is replacing the truck's frame at an estimated cost of $15,000.00. He also told my wife that the truck is unsafe to drive. Because these service centers did not apply treatment either when the truck was purchased new or during the 10 or so years it's been serviced by these service centers, I believe these service centers have been negligent in their responsibilities to me and my wife. Over the course of ownership the chassis of this vehicle has gotten horrendously corroded, which has caused structural components of the frame to begin to develop rust holes needing repair. These holes in the chassis are caused by the incorrect application of the factory chassis wax coating and has caused the entire frame to become deeply rusted through in many areas. Additionally I have been through two transmissions, the first occurring at around 55,000 miles of use, and the second around 105,000 miles. Seems there is a point of failure after around 50,000 miles on these transmissions.

Chevy and GMC pick-ups are having engines blow up because of a problem with the system that makes the pickup go from 8 cylinder to 4 cylinder. This needs to be looked into immediately. Chevy has taken no action/responsibility to alert people that this is a problem with their vehicles. At the advice of our mechanic, we purchased something that completely turns off the active fuel management or multiple displacement system. This is an almost certain problem waiting to happen. Chevy should be notifying people of the problem and offering to pay for the fix. Or maybe a recall should be issued. Please look into this.

I called GM and the Lady told me that there 5 recalls on this truck of which 4 were taken care of. there still remains one left undone. I purchased this truck from a private owner. the one remaining is the seat belt wire issue. A new warning has appeared on the dash, saying service trailer brake system. This a non stop warning while driving the truck. Very distracting and dangerous. I looked on you tube to see if anyone has this problem. yes there are some. One incident stated that to resolve this issue, someone needed to check the trailer receptacle plugin for corrosion, or broken wires. IF all is good there check the other four connectors under the truck on the frame. Finally if these are all good, then check the fuse box under the hood for the fuse for this braking system. The representative that I talked to from GM said to take the vehicle to a local Dealer for analysis to see where the problem is in the trailer braking system. Dealer labor rates are high. The representative stated that there is a payment assistance program available through GM if a Dealer takes care of the situation. Is this true? I need this truck every day for work. The frame on my truck is completely rusted out. There isn't a spot of rust anywhere else on my truck. I know there is knowledge of a wax coating problem. Why isn't this being fixed? I called GM corporate office and no one could tell me anything. They acted like they had no idea what was going on. I also tried my local dealership.... I left a message over a week ago and no one has called me back. What is going to be done about this issue?? I know others that have the same issue and no one is telling us anything.

I have a 2014 chevy silverado that I purchased brand new from the dealer. The truck just hit 100,000 miles and recently had a clunking noise from the rear undercarriage. After having it inspected, it has come to my attention that the frame is rusted and rear crossmembers are rusted out causing the rear shock mount to break, and I'm not sure if the frame is salvageable. After doing some research, I found a recall for my year silverado for the undercoating on the frame(not properly done from the factory) but my VIN is not in the recall. I'm at a loss being the year of the vehicle and mileage on the truck considering it might be undeliverable and unfixable

I have a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, covered by multiple Technical Service Bulletins regarding issues with premature frame rust due to a manufacturing issue. During the Factory Warranty Period, Chevrolet did not acknowledge or repair the issues noted in the TSBs. A 10 year old truck, with 81k miles on it is no longer safe to operate due to extensive damage to the frame from Chevrolet failing to fulfill their own commitments in resolving this issue. There has been no abuse or failures by myself as the owner that would result in the current unsafe condition. Due to this being an extremely widespread and known issue, this must be further investigated and upgraded to a full recall. Without a full on recall, unsafe vehicles will continue to be utilized on roadways, causing safety concerns to owners, passengers, and others on the roadway. Chevrolet has just refused to repair the damage due to the expiration of the factory warranty period. The vehicle was in possession of Chevrolet several times during the warranty period, but the resolution and repair was not completed. Per the TSB, this was to be completed and Chevrolet acknowledged the issue. Since not all dealerships have the ability or willingness to address this concern, Chevrolet must be put as the responsible party through a recall to rectify this, allowing owners to drive safe vehicles.

I bought this vehicle used, in February of 2019. Everything about the vehicle was checked and in very good shape. Approximately a year ago, early 2023, I was told that a bit of coating had come off the frame and was beginning to rust excessively. In January of this year during a dealership visit for repairs I was shown an area of the frame that looked like hunks of rust had fallen of, and then I was told this will turn into a major problem. My most recent visit, on March 21, 2024, I was again informed about the frame rust and was shown not only the rust problem, but large cracks in the frame that could not be repaired and is a major safety issue. I find it hard to believe a ten year old vehicle with 89455 miles can be beyond repair without this being a manufactures issue !

I am the owner of a 10 year old Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with less than 82000 miles. Chevrolet has Service Bulletins out regarding frame rust, but I was unable to have a dealership repair the surface rust for the 7 years I have owned the truck. My frame is now rusted out to the point it is not safe to operate and will cost over $15000 for Chevrolet to repair since the Service Bulletin was not resolved during the visits to dealerships for service during the Factory Warranty Period. My truck has never been abused. As Chevrolet stated in [XXX] , this may be a result of a manufacturing issue. This issue is beyond a cosmetic issue and does affect the safety of the vehicle, the driver, passengers, property, and people around. This issue is not isolated to me and my truck, but many others. Thanks to this not being looked at as a safety concern I am now left without a safe method of transportation. Frame rust and deterioration needs to be upgraded to a recall, just as Toyota. This truck has rust and giant holes in the frame, I'm not even sure if its safe to drive. I see that Chevy doesn't want to claim ownership of the manufacturing mistake. I can't even sell this truck because it would never pass a safety inspection. Chevy needs to be held accountable and do a recall to those of us who are stuck with the vehicles and fix their mistake. I don't even think a dealer would be able to accept as a trade in. I see other posts here that trade ins were refused due to the frame damage. YOUR AGENCY NEEDS TO DO ANOTHER OR FIRST INVESTIGATION REGARDING THIS SAFETY PROBLEM!!!

Brought truck into dealer for trade in. Dealer refused to offer trade due to excessive rusting of the frame. Dealer informed me that this situation has been prevalent in Chevy trucks due to negligence during the manufacturing process. Truck body and engine are in good condition. only 120000 miles. After leaving dealership researched this problem on line and now see that there are numerous consumers that have suffered the same fate. This is totally unacceptable and GM should do something about this to compensate their customers. GM apparently failed to treat the steel frame properly during manufacturing causing the steel to deteriorate prematurely.

The 2014 Silverado I own the frame is rusting through already! Only 168,000 miles and cleaned and maintained very regularly and the frame is rusted so badly its almost scary to continue driving! My 97 Silverado the frame is still solid as can be with almost 400,000 miles on it and my 10 year old truck with half the miles the frame is shot already? Unacceptable!!

The vehicle is now at 158,109 Mi as of January 5th 2024 at approximately 148,000 to 152,000 Mi I noticed the transmission and or the rear differential starting to slip have play and making various noises and sounds along with a jerking feeling where you would hit the gas and you could see the tachometer wind up a little bit and then when it seems the gears would catch or however it works it would jerk you forward with a bang feeling like somebody hit you from behind but there's no one back there a few times I would hit the gas to leave from a stop and merge into traffic and the vehicle would not move at all until 2 or 3 seconds had passed for the engine and transmission to finally catch up with each other or something I've noticed many recalls and problems on these Transmissions as well as the same issues on a previous Chevy Silverado 2014 I had prior to this one I'm very concerned that at some point I'm going to try and enter a traffic situation and not be able to have forward motion taking a chance on being part of a collision due to the vehicle not moving forward as required when you hit the gas pedal. I've noticed signs of fluid around my rear differential cover I continuously check the fluid in the transmission it is always fine I would like to have it checked out as the engine is an excellent motor with no obvious problems I take care of it changing the oil and Performing maintenance regularly as expected and required.

During yearly inspection the mechanic noted excessive rust on frame components and warned that something should be done…. I am on my third Silverado and frame coating, brake lines and transmission coolant lines have had issues with excessive rust. I bought this new in 2014 and hoped they had addressed these issues… over the previous Silverados I have owned. What recourse do I have towards GM. The truck has 50k.

My pickup has 71,000 miles and the frame has cracks in it and very rusted out. There’s got to be something done , I am still paying for it, I have it for roughly 2 1/2 years. Even though it is a 2014 it looks to be good shape, but don’t llook at the frame. My mechanic will not put it on a lift because he is afraid crushing it completely. Pictures attached.

Got my truck windshield fixed from.body shop and wipers fixed the replaced fuse box but my air conditioner had been acting up before it went to the body shop when we got the truck back 2nd day having it back my wife was driving it with are kids the steering wheel Locked up service power steering popped up on screen and she couldn't steer the vehicle at all we took back to dealership twice they have cleared the code its still popping up service power steering and steering wheel locking up my truck is 2014 and is doing the same things the vehicles are doing that's in the recall and for some reason my truck doesn't have a recall

Transmission failing at 130k miles. Warning if car driving weird and then after 2 days I’m stopped in traffic go to hit the gas and nothing. Truck wouldn’t move. The 2015 has a transmission recall. A/C failing to work for the last 1.6 years. Inconvenience and apparently a common issue in the 2014 Silverado. Should be a recall since it’s so common.

Rear Window Defrost Thermal- When the rear defrost is turned out it has a static/sizzling sound and smoke emitting from behind the cover. I have video proof. Now since this problem has begun, it has led to part of the back glass shattering. GM claims this to only be recall on Canadian trucks and that this exact truck does not fall into the recall category and they are not willing to cover the problem.

For several years now, I have been receiving the notification SERVICE: Trailer Brake. I typically try to dismiss it, but on occasion, it will continue to pop up over and over and over and over again. I have driven this vehicle since it's original purchase and have never even used the trailer brake. (Even though it's been titled twice - I purchased it from the company I work for.) Thankfully it has not caused any accidents. Just an annoyance. But I have been reading online that some owners have been unable to operate their vehicles due to this issue. This is not a daily driver vehicle but today was the most recent episode with the warning. I drove maybe a couple of miles total and it chimed and notified me approximately 20 times in this short distance. I looked on youtube and there are countless owners that have this same problem. It is definitely a distraction to the driver and could potentially cause a very serious accident.

The air conditioner condenser has a small leak causing the refrigerant to leak out. This is a known problem with all gm Silverado 2014-2017 and a recall needs to be issued. They are all leaking in the same place due to a faulty weld from the factory.

Vehicle and warranty was purchased 6/4/22. The following warning signs: service 4WD, service trailer brake system, it has shut off while driving on 6 separate occasions, vehicle locks after losing power and can’t put car in neutral, and several other safety issues, noise coming from engine.

Friday November 26th after having hit a deer, my truck quit entirely. Transmission Would Shudder, and Rattle, then not engage, causing engine to Die during several attempts. I had to have the truck towed 3 times just to get it to where I could have the issue diagnosed. Gateway Transmission quoted $4200 minimum on repairs including Torque Convertor, Drive Shaft (replace w Steel not orig. alum). The repairs are completed, which now totaled $ 6,374.84 paid out of pocket. I have been without a vehicle for 60 Days. The Transmission Coolant Lines also had to be replaced. No GM notification has been received. Multiple Complaints found re same issue. I AM DEAF Phone included is a voice contact family member.

My 2014 Chevy Silverado crew cab 1500 has started to vibrate. It’s like it comes and goes sometime. I was driving down the highway and something didn’t feel right so I thought it was the road surface that was making my truck feel that way. I then was driving on a newly resurfaced road an it was feeling the same like I had a flat tire. The tires were ok. It had this vibration.

Service Sabilitrack warning will appear and not that the vehicle will have limited steering capabilities. Then while driving 75 miles an hour on the highway merging lanes the steering wheel locked completely and unable to move it at all. Not an issue with power steering but an actual locking of the wheel. Happened multiple other times in parking lots. Was addressed and fixed by Chevrolet dealership, but now issue is back after the truck failed a state inspection and the tech reset the computer.

1) TRANSMISSION WHEN OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 55 ML PER HOUR, TRUCK ONLY HAD 107,000 MILES HAD TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION MORE LIKE A REBUILD TRANSMISSION FROM THE DEALER. 2) MY AIR CONDITIONER WHEN OUT 9 MONTHS LATER AFTER REPLACING TRANSMISSION, THERE WAS A LEAK ON THE A/C CONDENSER, DEALER REPLACE THE CONDENSER TWO YEARS LATER AIR CONDITIONER WHEN OUT A GAIN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM A/C CONDENSER LEAKING THE CONDENSER THAT DEALER REPLACE. THIS'S NOT COMENT AND I THINK GM NEEDS STEP IN TO THE PLATE AND LOOKED IN TO THIS TRANSMISSION ISSUES AND AIR CONDITIONER CONDENSER LEAKING REFRIGERAN.

INSTEAD OF A SINGLE NOTIFICATION TO THE DRIVER, THE INTERMITTENT CONNECTION WOULD RESULT IN THE ERROR MESSAGE CONTINUOUSLY RE-APPEARING AND CHIMING. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DISTRACTING AND COULD INCREASE RISK OF CRASH. I REMOVED THE BRAKE GAIN CONTROLLER FROM THE DASH AND FOUND CORROSION ON AN ELECTRICAL CONTACT STRIP. AFTER CLEANING IT WITH ELECTRONICS CLEANER, THE ERROR MESSAGE WENT AWAY.

LONG STORY SHORT. THIS IS A WEEKLY ISSUE THAT I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN THIS TRUCK. LAST YEAR ABOUT 5/2020 I TOOK IT ON A 6 HOUR-ROUND TRIP DRIVE. THE HIGHWAY IS 70 MILES PER HOUR. ABOUT MIDWAY BACK HOME THE TRUCK JERKED HARD AND SHUT OFF FOR A SECOND AND TURNED BACK ON. WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH! I PULLED OVER TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS STILL "OKAY" TO DRIVE HOME FOR THE NEXT 2 HOURS. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT, THAT DID NOT RESULT INTO A SERIOUS COLLISION. I HAD A FULL TRUCK OF PEOPLE INCLUDING A CHILD ALONG WITH A 4X4 IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. THIS CONTINUES TO BE AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE "STABILITRACK" ALERT ALWAYS COMING ON EVERY SECOND. NONE OF THE LIGHTS TURNED ON, THE TRUCK WOULD NOT TURN ON FOR A GOOD 10 MINUTES. I WAS BLOCKING THE ENTRANCE AND THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO ABOUT IT. THEN JUST RECENTLY I NOTICE THAT MY LIGHTS, ALL LIGHTS FLICKER WHEN I MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL OR WHEN I STEP ON THE BREAK AND GAS PEDALS. IF I DRIVE IT LONG ENOUGH ALL SOUND IS OFF EVEN THOUGH THE VOLUME IS UP. THEN WHEN I NEED TO MAKE ANY TURN, ANY DIRECTION, THE WHEEL BECOMES HARD TO TURN TO THE POINT WHERE I CANNOT MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL THEN IT SHUTS OFF AGAIN. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN IN A SERIOUS COLLISON DUE TO THIS. I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUES I HAVE. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN AND IF THIS TRUCK IS THE REASON WE GET INJURED, I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ACTION. THE AC CONDENSER IN THIS TRUCK FAILED RIGHT AFTER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ENDED, LIKE IN MANY OTHER GM TRUCKS IN THE YEARS 2014-17. AFTER TALKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER NUMEROUS TIMES, I FELT THIS WAS ONE OF MY LAST RESORTS. THE MANUFACTURER LAUGHED ME OFF AND SAID NHTSA WOULD PAY NO ATTENTION AS PAINT ISNT A SAFETY CONCERN. SOMEONE HAS TO MAKE THIS RIGHT WITHOUT ME HAVING TO SPEND THOUSANDS TO REPAINT. ON JUNE 3, 2018 UPON CRANKING THE TRUCK, THE A/C BEGAN BLOWING EXTREMELY HOT AIR TO THE POINT IT LEFT A RED MARK ACROSS MY HAND AFTER FEELING FOR THE VENT WAITING FOR THE TEMPERATURE TO COOL DOWN. IT WAS 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE AND RAINING SO WINDOWS COULDN'T BE ROLLED DOWN. WINDSHIELD REMAINED FOGGY DUE TO HUMIDITY WITHIN THE TRUCK AND I HAD TO PULL OVER FREQUENTLY WHEN DRIVING IN ORDER TO WIPE THE WINDSHIELD TO BE ABLE TO SEE. TWO CHILDREN IN THE BACKSEAT OF THE TRUCK, ONE IN A REAR FACING CAR SEAT WERE BEYOND OVER HEATED AND WELL ON THEIR WAY TO HEAT EXHAUSTION BY THE TIME WE REACHED THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO TEMPERATURES REACHING ABOVE 95 WITHIN THE CAB. TRUCK WAS SEEN AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED DUE TO VIBRATION FROM DRIVING, THE A/C DISCHARGE HOSE WAS CRACKED ALLOWING THE HEAT FROM THE ENGINE TO BE BLOWN DIRECTLY INTO THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. HOSE WAS REPLACED AD A BRACKET ADDED TO IMPROVE THE STABILITY OF THE HOSE AND REFRIGERANT ADDED. EIGHT MONTHS AND 4 DAYS LATER, A/C SUDDENLY BEGAN BLOWING HOT AIR AGAIN. WAS ADVISED AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT THE HIGH SIDE SERVICE PORT WAS NOW LEAKING AND NEEDED A VALVE REPLACEMENT AND REFRIGERANT ADDED AGAIN.

MY 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS THE CHEVY SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TRUCK BEGINS VIBRATING AT 70-80 MILES PER HOUR. BEGINS TO REDUCE THE SHAKING BETWEEN 80-83 AND THEN SHAKES EVEN WORSE AT 85+MPH. THE SHAKING IS SO BAD IT CAUSES WATER TO SHAKE OUT OF A CUP IN THE CUP HOLDER. NOT ONLY DOES THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATE, BUT THE ENTIRE CENTER CONSOLE, AND THE FRONT SEATS. THE VIBRATION DIDN'T BEGIN UNTIL I HIT 60,000 MILES AND SEEMS TO WORSEN WITH THE HIGHER MILEAGE. I NOW FEAR FOR MY SAFETY, BECAUSE I SKIDDED THE IN THE RAIN DUE THE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I ONLY HAVE VIDEOS SHOWING THE VIBRATION. TOTAL BUMMER. I HAD MY TIRES CHECKED AND BALANCED (WHICH HAVE BEEN ON THE TRUCK FOR 1 YEAR +, PRIOR TO THE VIBRATION STARTING) MY TRUCK HAS LIFETIME ALIGNMENT ON IT, AND THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE EITHER.

WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN INTO MY DRIVEWAY ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, MY STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY JERKED TO THE LEFT OUT OF MY HAND, AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WENT DEAD (LOST ALL POWER, LIGHTS, ETC.). BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, I WAS UNABLE TO TURN FULLY INTO MY DRIVEWAY. AS A RESULT, THE BED OF THE TRUCK WAS STICKING OUT INTO A MAJOR ROAD AND I WAS ALMOST HIT BY CARS COMING AROUND THE CURVE BY MY DRIVEWAY. IT WAS DARK AND RAINY. I CALLED SOMEONE FOR HELP AND WE PUSHED THE TRUCK OUT OF THE ROADWAY AS BEST AS POSSIBLE, CONSIDERING THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS STILL LOCKED. THE TRUCK WOULD NOT RESTART. ALL POWER WAS GONE. THE ONLY WAY I COULD THINK TO MOVE THE TRUCK WAS TO JUMP START IT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. AFTER JUMPSTARTING THE TRUCK, THE DASH INFO SYSTEM DISPLAYED, "ACTION REQUIRED: OPEN THEN CLOSE DRIVER WINDOW." THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED AFTER CHEVY DEALERSHIP PERFORMED RECALL 17276 "TEMPORARY LOSS OF ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING (EPS) SERVICE (DURING LOW SPEED STEERING MANEUVERS). THERE IS A TSB OUT ALLUDING TO THIS ISSUE: #PIT5405C: STEERING JERKS OR KICKS BACK / REDUCED POWER STEERING ASSIST / ENGINE STALL, ETC. (JAN 27, 2017) . WHY IS THERE NO RECALL??? THIS PART IS NATIONALLY BACKORDERED, WHICH MEANS IT IS IN HIGH DEMAND, BECAUSE GM PUT A BAD CONDENSER IN THESE TRUCKS. THEY ARE DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP THE CUSTOMERS BUT PAY A MEASLY PORTION OF THE BILL MOST WORKING CLASS AMERICANS CANT JUST JUMP UP AND PAY. I WILL NEVER BUY A GM AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE. IN KENTUCKY THE SUMMERS ARE MISERABLE, AND WITHOUT AC IT MAKES THEM THAT MUCH MORE MISERABLE. BOTTOM LINE, GM CAUSED THIS PROBLEM, GM SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM.

THE AIR CONDITIONING CONDENSERS ARE KNOWN TO BE DEFECTIVE BY GM AND SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERSHIPS AS WELL AS LOCAL MECHANICS WHO ARE CONSTANTLY REPLACING THESE ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.3L V8. THIS APPLIES TO ALL GM VEHICLES WITH THIS MOTOR. OWNERS ARE UNABLE TO GET THIS FIXED AS OEM PARTS ARE ON NATIONAL BACK-ORDER WITH NO ETA. THE BACK-ORDER IS DUE TO GM HAVING TO RE-MANUFACTURE THE ENTIRE INVENTORY WHILE OVERWHELMING DEMAND FOR THESE REPLACEMENT CONDENSERS GROWS. THIS IS A $1,100 REPAIR INCLUDING PARTS AND LABOR THAT SHOULD NOT BE THE BURDEN OF THE CONSUMER AS GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. IN THE MEANWHILE WE HAVE TO DRIVE WITH OUR WINDOWS DOWN WHICH EXPOSES US TO EXHAUST FUMES OF OTHER VEHICLES AND DEBRIS BEING FREE TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. NOTHING PROVOKED THIS FAILED CONDENSER AS I WAS SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT A NORMAL SPEED AND MY AIR CONDITIONER QUICKLY BECAME WARMER AS THE REFRIGERANT LEAKED OUT.

THE AIR CONDITIONER QUIT WORKING SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER. THEY RAN THE DIAGNOSIS ON IT AND SAID THAT THE A/C CONDENSER HAS A LEAK AT ONE OF THE WELDS ON IT. I ASKED IF THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE SEEN SEVERAL OF THE TRUCKS WITH THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THERE IS A BIGGER PROBLEM BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT GET THE PART ANYWHERE IN THE COUNTRY AND NOBODY KNOWS WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE. IS THERE A RECALL IN THE WORKS FOR THIS PROBLEM?

TRUCK STARTED BLOWING WARM AIR 2 MONTHS AGO. TRUCK WAS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AT 38,598 MILES. TOOK TO FIRESTONE REPAIR CENTER ON 5/06/2017 TO HAVE AC CHECKED OUT. THEY NOTED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE CONDENSER. CONTACTED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER CARE WHO OPENED A CASE AND THEY MENTIONED THAT I NOW HAD TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO AN AUTHORIZED CHEVROLET DEALER. I DID THAT AND THEY CONFIRMED THE FIRESTONE DIAGNOSIS AND ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE CONDENSER IS ON A NATIONWIDE BACK-ORDER. THE TEMPERATURE IN THE CALIFORNIA EAST BAY IS NEARING 100 DEGREES AND EXPECTED TO STAY THAT WAY FOR SOME TIME. NO WORK FORM CHEVROLET REGARDING WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE.

TODAY I DROVE IT ABOUT 20 MILES AND IT MUST HAVE CHIMED ABOUT 30 TIMES. IT IS A CONSTANT DISTRACTION WHEN I'M DRIVING NOT TO MENTION VERY IRRITATING. IT DOES IT IN PARK, IN DRIVE, DRY AND WET WEATHER.

AC CONDENSER - BEEN HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE AC WORKING, NOT WORKING, WORKING, NOT WORKING BUT NEVER STAYING OFF COMPLETELY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON MANY MILES BEFORE MY TRUCK REACHED 36,000 MILE WARRANTY END DATE AND NOTHING COULD BE FOUND, OR I WAS TOLD SINCE IT WOULD BE WORKING JUST FIND WHEN I COULD GET AN APPOINTMENT. NOW I HAVE NO A/C WHATSOEVER. WAS TOLD THAT THE AC CONDENSERS HAVE BEEN ON BACKORDER FOR OVER 4 MONTHS NOW. THEY ARE HAPPY TO PLACE AN ORDER FOR PARTS NEEDED BUT I WAS TOLD THAT EVEN THOUGH GM KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THAT IT IS HAPPENING TO ALL 2013-2015 MODELS AT THIS TIME. GM MOST LIKELY WILL NOT DO A RECALL AND MOST LIKELY WILL NOT PAY FOR PARTS OR REPAIRS.

THE CONDENSER UNIT HAS CRACKED AND COME AWAY FOR THE STRUCTURAL HOUSING CAUSING THE UNIT TO LEAK FREON MEANING THAT THE A/C DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS A DESIGN FAULT FOR THE 2014 CHEVROLET SILVERADO MODELS THROUGH GM/CHEVROLET AND CURRENTLY THERE IS A NATIONAL BACK ORDER ON THE PART (NR. 84211191). THIS SHOWS THAT THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM AND AS THINGS STAND CHEVROLET CANNOT EVEN GIVE ME AN ESTIMATE AS TO WHEN THE PART WILL BECOME AVAILABLE AGAIN. I FEEL AS THOUGH THIS SHOULD BE GROUNDS ENOUGH FOR SOME SORT OF REIMBURSEMENT / RECALL.

THEY NEVER NOTIFIED ME ABOUT THE RECALL WHEN IT WAS STILL COVERED AND NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS EXPIRED, THEY NOTIFIED ME SAYING THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO BE COVERED OUT OF POCKET. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO HAVE OTHER RECALLS DONE WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND AFTER A 4X4 ISSUED RECALL WAS RELEASED. WHEN I NOTIFIED THE SERVICE PERSON ABOUT WHY IT WASN'T BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION BEFORE, HE STATED THEIR WASN'T ANYTHING HE COULD DO.

MY 2014 SILVERADO LTZ 1500 HAS HAD A DISTRACTING VIBRATION/SHAKE SINCE DAY ONE THAT IS FELT AT ALMOST ALL SPEEDS. I NOTIFIED THEM OF IMMEDIATELY. THEY REBALANCED THE TIRES, IT DID NOT HELP. THE CHANGED ALL FOUR TIRES TWO DIFFERENT TIMES, IT DID NOT HELP. THEY DID SOME SPECIAL LOAD BALANCING, IT DID NOT HELP. WITH 32K ON IT AND MY WARRANTY RUNNING OUT I GAVE IT BACK TO THEM AGAIN FOR ANOTHER REBALANCING, THAT DID NOT HELP. MY BROTHER FULLY AGREES WITH ME ABOUT THE VIBRATION/SHAKE; WE ARE BOTH PREVIOUS OWNERS OF SILVERADO 1500'S THAT RODE EXCELLENT. HE NOW HAS A 2013 GMC SIERRA THAT RIDES JUST FINE. FRUSTRATED WITH MY RIDE AND LACK OF RESOLUTION I TEST DROVE A 2016 SILVERADO LTZ Z71 HOPING TO TRADE OUT OF THE ISSUE; BUT THE 2016 RIDE WAS NO BETTER. CHEVROLET HAS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES THAT NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED!

ELECTRICAL FIRE: MY VEHICLE WAS HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES. MY RADIO WOULD RANDOMLY CHANGE, TURN ON AND OFF. THE PARKING SENSORS WOULD RANDOMLY GO OFF EVEN WHILE DRIVING FORWARD, DOWN THE HIGHWAY! I HAD A SERVICE APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED. HOWEVER, PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT MY VEHICLE BURNED UP. THE CAUSE WAS FOUND TO BE A CONTROL/COMPUTER BOARD IN THE DASH. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AT THE TIME OF THE FIRE, IT HAD BEEN ABOUT 1 HOUR SINCE DRIVEN LAST. I HAVE SEVERAL PICTURES, FIRE INVESTIGATION REPORT AND INSURANCE INSPECTION REPORT.

THE INCIDENT THAT IS REASON FOR BEING IN THE SHOP NOW IS, WHILE IN A PARKING LOT, STEERING LOCKED N UNLOCKED, DOOR LOCKS AGAIN FLIPPED UP N DOWN, VEHICLE DIED WITH NO POWER. COULD NOT UNLOCK THE VEHICLE, NO POWER WHAT SO EVER, KEY WOULD NO TURN. EVENTUALLY I HEARD A PSST NOISE AND THE POWER CAME BACK. THE PREVIOUS TIMES TAKEN TO THE DEALER, I'M ALWAYS TOLD, CANNOT DUPLICATE. THIS IS A DANGER TO ME,MY FAMILY. AFTER BEING A FAITHFUL GM FAN FOR OVER 40+ YEARS THEY HAVE LOST THIS GUY TO ANOTHER MAKE OF VEHICLE, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING SO MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS, AS I, WITHOUT RESOLVE. WHEN TURNING MY TRUCK LEFT OR RIGHT, THERE IS A CLUNKING/POPPING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE TRUCK (MAYBE FROM THE FRONT END). CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN PORTLAND,TX CONFIRMED THE NOISE BUT COULD NOT FIND THE ORIGIN OF THE NOISE. SO THE SERVICE MANAGER STOPPED WORK AND SAID THAT THEY WERE CHASING A "GHOST". THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON AUGUST 27TH 2014 AND HAD A BAD VIBRATION ON THE DRIVE HOME. IT HAS A WOBBLE SENSATION AT 35-45 MPH FELT STRONGEST AT 43 MPH THAT FEELS LIKE IT HAS A BENT WHEEL BUT IT DOESNT. WHEN YOU GET TO 65-70 MPH THERE IS A STRONG VIBRATION FROM THE TRUCK FELT STRONGEST AT 68 MPH AND IT ONLY OCCURS ON SMOOTH LEVEL ROADS AND EVEN CHANGING LANES DOES NOT CHANGE THE VIBRATION AT ALL SO IT IS NOT RELATED TO THE ROAD CONDITIONS OTHER THEN BEING FLAT AND SMOOTH. THE DEALER HAS MADE FIVE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT ALREADY AND CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM AND CANNOT FIX THE PROBLEM AND HAS REFUSED TO TRY TO FIX IT ANYMORE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS ISSUE I HAVE FOUND THAT ONE OUT OF FIVE GM TRUCKS (CHEVY & GMC) HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE NOT MANY PEOPLE REPORTING THIS YET. DO NOT BUY OR LET ANYONE YOU KNOW BUY A CHEVY & GMC TRUCK IN THE 2014 OR 2015 YEARS, 1 IN 5 ARE LEMONS THE VIBRATIONS ARE SO BAD THAT IT WILL MAKE YOU CAR SICK AFTER A FEW MILES AND CAN AGGRAVATE EXISTING CONDITIONS SUCH AS PEOPLE WITH BACK ISSUES. THIS PROBLEM ALSO GREATLY REDUCES THE TRADE-IN OR RESALE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND WILL MAKE SELLING IT YOURSELF VERY PROBLEMATIC IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE.
