I was driving down the road like normal then for a second smelled a burning smell then my back window (power sliding) drivers side just exploded and completely shattered.
My rear window defroster circuit started overheating causing my window to shatter.
I have had a problem with the theft deterrent system which, shuts the truck down and issues a message saying "turn the driver side window down and then up". After 5 minutes the truck starts back up by itself? This has occurred sitting in Popeyes drive thru line in August 2024 in Benton Harbor, Mi. This has occurred 3 times in the past week, 09/25/25 driving on Garrett road it shut down during the entry into a "s curve" 09/26/25 driving into my drive way 09/28/25 driving into my drive way Took the truck into Wimberley Chevy dealer and they searched for error codes and checked some of the ground wires not connected properly and found the negative cable on battery was ok. I don't know if any other wire connectors were checked, however I have had this before and the dealer said they would have to keep the truck as it may take quite some time in confirming all connections were good. the service manage of LeValley Cheverolet stated that they would require a $1,000 deposit for them to start looking into the problem and again require another $1,000 deposit to continue and then another etc. I will not drive my truck on any major highway or in any very busy large city for fear of having a return of another shutdown and no place to pull into as I was only coasting when I entered the "S curves" and had space.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the door locks were independently locking and unlocking, and the hazard lights were flashing intermittently. The contact stated that the interior lights and the headlights were activated without the contact using the key fob or manually turning the lights on. The contact stated that the 12-Volt battery and alternator were replaced, but the vehicle still experienced electrical failures. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the door lock actuator and the wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

Windows motor shorts out. If driving vehicle cuts off in order for window motor to reboot. Once you cut back on, error code tells driver to role window down and then back up.
Experienced a problem with electrical theft deterrent system and it shut the vehicle off while driving. I tried to start the vehicle and nothing happened except it said theft deterrent system. I took the key out tried starting again and it turned over immediately. The dash said theft deterrent and I clicked dismiss but the dash icon (a car with a lock light) remained on. I then drove 11 miles home. I turned on my directional proceeded to brake upon approaching my driveway. As I attempted to turn the steering wheel the vehicle completely shut off. The info system stating theft deterrent active. I lost power steering and brakes. I needed to press the brakes with great force because the vehicle was headed towards the sidewalk and a road sign. Steering was virtually unresponsive. Vehicle stopped as the tires reached the curb and approximately 1 ft from the sign. Placed vehicle in park and started it back up. Pulled into my driveway and the info system stated I need to roll the drivers window down and the up to deactivate. I have checked all battery connections are intact and tight. The battery, starter and alternator were all checked and fine. I have no idea what caused this dangerous behavior. The incident happened on MA Rt. 126 988 S. Main st Bellingham MA 02019
On 5 separate occasions during the last week my truck steering wheel became difficult to steer while executing a slow turn and then I lost all power almost causing me to crash. After my vehicle stopped I was able to restart it. I took my vehicle to a repair shop where they were unable to find any codes indicating a problem and suggested taking it to a dealer. I was able to find many people posting similar issues online and a service bulletin PIT5405C from January 2017. 2015 to 2017 Silverados were impacted according to this bulletin. When I contacted the Chevrolet Service department they could not find a recall for my vehicle.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the gauges on the instrument cluster were fluctuating, and the power steering warning light and the stabili-trak warning light lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and allowed the engine to cool down. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring mainly in hot weather. Additionally, the contact stated that if the vehicle was not pulled over to the side of the road until the vehicle cooled down, the vehicle gradually lost motive power. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring intermittently. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics, where the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the same assessment was made. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.

I remote started my vehicle about 5 minutes prior to getting in. After I got in and placed the key in the ignition, I started to smell smoke. I see in my rear view mirror the entire cab of my truck started to fill with smoke. When I turned my head around the interior of my rear window was on fire and my entire truck cab filled with smoke. I get out of the vehicle and immediately try and look for help as the fire was inside of my vehicle and the smoke smell was overwhelming. The fire then died out and the driver’s side pane on the rear window then shattered. I am now left with a shattered window and a vehicle that is left with unknown damage from a fire inside the pane. After going back and forth with a dealer that contacted Chevy for me, they determined there was no recall for the vehicle. Further research showed that this incident happened one other time in March of 2020 and was repaired once and the original recall was cleared. Chevy states that they have already repaired it once and are not liable to fix it a second time. This is a huge safety hazard and I am left questioning the integrity of my vehicle and the safety after what unknown damage has been done.
Vehicle shuts off when stopping. Everything goes dead. It will eventually start again, but very annoying. What happens when it shuts off going down the highway? No power steering or power brakes, that's what!
I heard a sharp click like metal on metal, then I lost all power from the engine. I was on the highway close to rush hour and I was trying to move to the right side of the road and get off on the shoulder, the engine would start long enough to get off the road and then that was it. The engine was dead. I called for a flatbed tow truck through my insurance. I had no idea as to what had happened. However, I have read many reports of engine failure concerning the 5.3 v8 engine which I have. The Chevrolet Silverado 1/2 ton pickup was towed on a flatbed truck to Chevrolet, They found that the engine had dropped a valve in the #7 cylinder and some rocker arms, etc also had broken. The final billing was $7092.89 I was in traffic going around 60mph when the engine died and put me in an emergency situation. This could have caused a wreck. Several warning lights came on because of a dead engine. I do not believe any rep. has inspected the parts as this has become a common serious problem, it is all over the internet however I have not seen a Recall at this time. I sincerely believe GM should be responsible for this as it has been happening for years and years. Thank you for listening

While driving I loose my power steering, most of my electrical systems shut down including the radio, driver information center, AC and the stability control system. I get a quick dash warning light that says stability rack and it goes off. Issue mostly occurs while making turns making it hard to steer the vehicle
My Trailer Brake System starts going off and showing "Trailer Brake System" at the bottom it states Dismiss. It is a safety issue and manufacturing malfunctioning of the truck. There should be a recall in place due to other consumers complaining about this situation.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while the vehicle was parked with the door ajar, there was no warning chime alerting the driver that the door was opened. The contact also stated that when both turn signals were activated, there was no audio warning. On other occasions, while driving at various speeds with the turn signals activated, there was no audio warning. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds, the seat belts were not engaged and there was no warning chime alerting the driver of the issue. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact believed that the failure was associated with NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V301000 (Electrical System, Seat Belts). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 41,000.

Used the remote start feature to warm up my truck (automatically turns on rear defrost). Upon entering the vehicle I could smell smoke. While driving I turned around and noticed smoke pouring from rear window. I turned off the rear defrost and the window exploded! I contacted the dealer and they claimed the recall had already been completed and they could not assist me.
Rear window started smoking while rear defrost was turned on the rubber seal started melting smoke started coming between cabe and truck bed window scattered after I got out and closed the door
The vehicle lost power steering and being an electronic system, there is nowhere to add fluid to the system. There was a recall for this issue from 2018 to 2019 and the repair service was performed on this vehicle. I now have to pay for the repairs that were once covered under a recall for a known issue.
Electric power steering ,loses power ,on board computer lost memory ,clock went 0,active fuel management mileage recorder to 0,M/L smog number to no ready
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while stopped at a STOP sign and attempting to drive off, the doors locked, the vehicle lost power steering functionality and lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to shift into neutral and move out of the way of traffic. The contact then restarted the vehicle and drove to his destination. The contact stated that the failure had occurred twice. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure. The contact stated that a representative inspected the vehicle but was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 116,000.

While going through an S curve the dash lights went dark and engine quit while pulling a trailer. Had no power steering or brakes. Put it in neutral and was able to get engine started again before hitting a car coming from the other direction. On initial start up, there was a message "action required, open then close driver window". All dash settings for radio, information and media had to be reset. This is dangerous, vehicle shutting down randomly, as it could cause accident and injury or even death.
#1- I had my truck in a few years ago for a brake issues that they said was a computer reprogramming issue and vacuum pump. They repaired and the issue slowly came back. Now it feels as if there is little to no assist with braking and stopping distance is growing. I feel like my family is at risk if there were ever to be a time I need to brake hard or fast. Theire are no warning lamps but obvious excessive braking effort and can feel the brake rotors through the pedal. #2- Intermittently, at low speeds, pulling into parking lots and parking spaces while turning the steering wheel, electrical power cuts out, steering wheel jerks out of hand, and a dash light comes on saying "service stabilitrack". This is a huge safety issue that could certainly cause an accident. I have Googled this very common issue with my year Chevy Silverado and personally checked the grounds on the left and right under the front dash panel by each speaker and found them to be clean and tight. This leads me to believe it is something else and electrical and a huge safety problem. Only issue is that it is very random and hard to replicate. Seems to happen on hot days when I've been driving a lot. I just got off the phone with the local dealership and they are saying there are no other recalls aside from the current one for air bag issues which I just scheduled. But these other issues I feel are definitely safety manufacturer defects/issues especially being that it has been in for the brake issue once already and the steering/electrical issue is such a common thing when searching the internet.
Power steering randomly stops working, sometimes warning lights come on when this happens. There is a recall affecting 2015 chevy vehicles that is related to a defect in the power steering system that causes similar issues, but my VIN is not part of the recall. How can I get the manufacturer to fix this?
At low speed power steering will cut off and kick in opposite direction, radio will blank out followed by service stabilitrak warning has happened multiple times in last few wks since first of Sept 2023
I have been having problems with my vehicle cutting off and I would jump start. It often gave be a theft code on the dash. Until one day it stops starting all together. Now to find out there is a recall on the electrical system I was told by my mechanic please contact me so I can get this resolved will be with out of transportation, paying insurance and a car note thank you.
Truck shuts down, power steering quits working and forces vehicle wheel back other direction, stablitrack light comes on, ac shuts down, truck loses power, sometimes completely shuts down while turning.
[XXX]. My 2015 silverado with the 5.3 randomly just shuts off. When slowing down and at 10 to 20 mph, the Instrument panel goes dark, the engine shuts off, no power steering or brakes and almost crashed into someone. I turn the key it starts back up, but have to reset time and date and lose radio channels. Once a message about stabilitrac flashed after starting back up. Truck can be for Inspection. This problem happened 4 times in one morning it is being looked at now on [XXX]. There hasn't been any warnings. It just shuts down. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving on the highway, I came to stop in traffic. Power shut off in truck. I had AC on and radio on and everything turned off.Dashboard went blank as well. Power restored and service stabiltrack notification came on. This happened multiple times while on road. Got off as soon as possible and took to dealership. Dealership has yet to get back to us. I believe this is related to the two recalls that I had completed. At no point should I lose power in the vehicle and not be able to control the car. This could have been a tragedy if driving at full speed and for vehicle to shut down.
“Service trailer brake system” this message randomly appears with no trailer connected at all, i recently bought a brand new trailer and im scared to tow it since there is no current fix for this error message on the display, it comes on randomly and will not stop popping up and dinging it is a huge distraction as it repeatedly does it over and over, also when it does this you lose trailer brakes which is very unsafe especially in the mountains. This has been a known issue for years that is why i don’t understand why there is only a fix for the 22-23 models. Gm needs to address this issue as there are tons and tons of complaints, it is never safe to lose trailer brakes especially with all that weight you could burn up the truck brakes and cause an accident or if the trailer starts swaying you can not correct it with the breaks
The component or system is the Electronic Power Steering System and my vehicle is available for inspection at any time needed. Although this started last week and is happening randomly it has happened three times all in the last week. While making a turn I lose all power steering, in fact all power and have to try to maneuver the truck safely. This is the same issue that GM issued a recall for GM recall 18289. NHTSA Campaign # 18V586. This problem is very dangerous and I almost collided head on due to this problem when leaving work and in a turning zone. The first time it happened my mom said it jerked the steering wheel. lost all power and she had to manhandle it to keep from hitting a child that was walking across the parking lot at a Dollar General store. I need to see about getting my truck fixed for this recall before someone is killed. My VIN may not be listed on the recall but the exact same thing is happening and I sure would hate to see someone killed before this is fixed. Mighty strange that my VIN is not listed but same exact thing is happening with the electronic power steering (EPS). I am asking for your help in guiding me to getting this fixed. Two other known issues with this vehicle have also happened. One was valve collapsed and I was able to get that fixed under warranty cause I only had the truck for a short time. I've spoken with dealership and they say vehicle charge to look at the vehicle would be $159.95 and that will be applied to repair cost but mechanics would have to determine if my issue is considered under the recall. I can almost surely guess what that answer will be. Please assist me in the direction I need to go to get this fixed.
When turning on defroster heard a buzzing/hissing/sizzling sounds. Rear defroster wires extremely hot and burning smell coming from wires. GM knows about this problem but only issued a recall in Canada and I am in US
Recently purchased a 2015 Chevy. The truck in is excellent condition , garage kept. problem is the horn. It stops working after it rains, or after we wash . We have almost had several wrecks due to the horn not working. The water runs down the seam of the hood and drips in the switch. That in return keeps the horn from working. I feel unsafe in the vehicle. At anytime people pull out in front of us or anything from around us. We have no way to warn nor get their attention. Any help in soling this problem would be greatly apricated. Thank You [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Truck stalles when wheel is turned at idle or low speed. No warning just dies. No problem restarting.
I own a 2015 Chevy Silverado LD. There was a recall that included (among other vehicles) the 2014 Silverado LD and the 2015 Silverado HD but not the 2015 LD. It is for the base radio audio output not working causing audible safety warnings to not work as well. I have this problem on my truck. I took the truck to a local dealership but they claimed to have no knowledge of this faulty condition.
There was a buzzing from rear window while defroster was ON. Upon closer inspection, there was smoke coming from the defroster electrical connections while on and there was an electrical arcing sound present.
Service trailer brake system warning will come up on screen when there’s nothing wrong with it. It is completely random and distracts you from driving with 3 loud chimes and no way to change to volume of the chimes. Most times it will come on 5-10 times in a row and then go away. I’ve tried fixing it like countless others but no success. The chimes are so loud and distracting it causes headaches and frustration
Hard brake petal at low speed when I'm trying to park vehicle, dealership kept truck for five days, service Rep said, he couldn't get to my truck,. I picked up my truck and I took it to another Dealership they claimed that my brakes problem was completed, Matick Chevrolet Jan 6, 2023 . Problem # ,2 High Pressure Fuel pump needs replacing as per Matick Chevrolet inspection on 1/6/2023 their Mechanic inspected my truck , I have their invoice stating that and two more invoices from ,one from Pep Boy's diagnosed bad Fuel pump and another invoice from Good Year Tires diagnosing bad High Pressure Fuel pump is bad with 45 psi. Pep Boy's also diagnosed my Brakes Vacuum Booster Pump needs replacing and remove and replace another Brake Booster vacuum pump and they listed two different parts numbers, #3 my Electrical System causes my dashboard monitor to jump back and forth all crazy, and anti theft warning, Traction Control System Warning on constantly Please help me to get these problems resolved contact Les Stanford Chevrolet Dealership in Dearborn , Michigan and Matick Chevrolet in Livonia Michigan, they charged me 300 Dollars just to check out my Recall Order and told me it would cost me 3000 Dollars for them to repair my Recalls , Please Help [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
While driving at low speeds (approx 5-10 mph) the brake pedal became stiff and very difficult to stop. This issue happened with no prior warning or indication of the issue. As a result of this issue severe damage to personal property housing and vehicles was nearly missed. Upon research this has been a common issue for GM vehicles specifically trucks and SUVs.
Turned my truck on and rear defrost was active. Sizzling sound started occurring in rear window. Inspected sound and saw a small amber electrical fire starting. Immediately turned off defroster. After about 10 seconds I heard a loud “pop” noise and saw that the rear driver’s side of the rear window was shattered.
Rear window defroster began to SMOKE while being on for a few minutes (under 6). Smoke was visible next to sliding window.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving and making a turn in the driveway, the vehicle lost electrical power inadvertently. My control panel keeps flicking the radio with phantom touches to the touch screen. It is making all sorts of gyrations, shifting over to my speed indicator screen, at times, the radio turns on by itself, very loud. I find online that many people are having similar issues with this condition. This is very distracting to the driver while driving on the highway, it should be considered a safety issue. Can you please research how many vehicles are having this issue? Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Trailer brake system I have owned this Chevy Silverado 2015 since 2018 when I purchased it certified from a used car dealership in upstate New York. About one year into owning the vehicle I started to experience an alarm that was flash trailer brake system. This alarm would beep and flash in my center consul restricting me from sight distracting me from driving and is almost impossible to drive the car without distraction. I checked YouTube I called the manufacture I did so much to figure out what was going on and why this was happening considering I do not show any thing I did not understand why the trailer brake would cause such a problem considering I never told anything. After about three months of driving the car this trailer brake system alarm stopped. Now recently 2022 the trailer break system alarm is back and flashes nonstop and is relentless. I cannot listen to music I cannot hear my own self think the alarm is so loud and so distracting I would rather walk to the store then drive the truck I am forced to drive this truck because of the fact that I need to get to work but the safety hazards that are now limiting me and I am afraid this is going to cause a major accident or loss of life. I recently discovered that this is a manufacturers wire harness malfunction due to faulty wiring and a low-grade wire harness system. Before this gets any worse I need some sort of help. Knowing that it is impossible to fix without thousands of dollars being spent and finding a specific electrical auto technician to fix it it is nearly impossible to have this fixed Chevy refuses to even acknowledge there is a problem I need someone to please help me and the other Chevy Silverado owners to get this under recall so that these wire harnesses can be replaced please help us my name is [XXX] my address [XXX] [XXX] is my cell phone number INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The electrical system randomly shuts down. It has done this multiple times in the past several months. Everything shuts off, including engine, power steering, etc. It has done this both while sitting idle and when driving. Most times, it will come back on after a few seconds but I have had to coast off the roadway, and have it towed back home. This is VERY DANGEROUS!!! Fortunately, the times it has shut down while driving has been during daylight hours because if this were to happen at night, I would lose all lights, therefore making a serious crash almost certain.
NHTSA campaign number 18V586. GM’s recall is 18289. Power steering at low speeds with voltage drop causes power steering to lose control
Service Trailer Brake light comes on continuously making it very distractive when driving no matter if you dismiss the message on the dash.
While driving my dash and power steering would go out suddenly without any warning and last for several minutes before regaining electrical power. Engine would still be operating and I was still able to drive it but I lost all power and electrical indicators when it would happen.
While driving, engine running - the whole electrical system including the engine just stop - totally dead including lack of power steering. Several times it was a fraction of a second, and then all systems came back on and engine resumed running. Another time, I had to coast off the road and try to steer without PS. After waiting a bit, the engine restarted. Even though you only ask for 1 date, this has happened several times. Most recent was yesterday, 5/2/2022. Before that it was March 13, 2022. Before that, I believe it was several years ago.
The truck just shut down for no reason, then can not turn it or can not use the brakes to stop it,then will not start, then it will start in time.
steering and braking stops working during low speed. AC stops working and several components flash a warning message Trailer hitch and stabilizer and engine light appears sporadically. It shows that I do not have recalls but I believe the repairs in the past were not done correctly. old software or a electrical short from an faulty part!!!!!

The service trailer brake system alarm goes off constantly while driving when trailer is not attached to vehicle. You can dismiss the warning but the alarm comes back. It’s a loud audible beeping that takes your eyes off the road.
I’ve only owned my 2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 for 8 months now and I’ve been noticing my paint starting to bubble and I popped one and water came pouring out I have also had to change my left rear turn signal twice my top light socket keeps melting and you can just buy a pig tail you have to get all three light sockets and they are 136.89 and the sound in the truck don’t also work if the truck sits longer then 5 hours I have no sound and I’ve replaced battery already I also will get a clicking noise from under the steering wheel when the truck turns off it lasts from 1 min to 15 mins and stops thank you
The truck would take off on its own. The steering column would lock up, and the brakes would fail. The transmission is currently slipping an d these are just a few thing that are/have happened.
Service trailer park system
The rear window defroster melted and started to smoke and then the rear window exploded.
While slowing down to make a right turn the engine stalled and the electrical power was lost rendering the power steering inoperable. The loss of power steering created a dangerous situation where I almost hit a tree. Also there has been several occasions while driving on the freeway the electrical power stalled. Thankfully it was only for less than two seconds, but I can't imagine what would have happened on a busy freeway had it not been only a temporary loss of power. I read online that these problems are not uncommon. I have taken the truck to a Chevy dealer where they replaced battery cables they said had some resistance in them. It's been a month since the repair ($1300 later) was made and have not experienced any problem since. After experiencing these "power failers", there would be a message on the dash that would state "OPEN THEN CLOSE DRIVER WINDOW'
Seal deteriorated on 3rd brake light at top of cab, allowing water inside the light and the vehicle. Concerned about possible wire/electrical short circuit.
Faulty trailer wire harness that can result in loss of brakes while towing as well as a constant distraction
Severe overheating and smoke from rear defrost window area. Same issue happened to my vehicle as described in recall number N192265660 with GM. I used remote start to warm up truck and when I went to get in and opened the rear door, smoke bellowed and a bright red glow (flame?) at the rear window was present. Due to the low temperature outside, cold air rushed in and the driver side rear window fractured from thermal shock. Appeared as a short or bad circuit caused the extreme heat in this area.
I purchased the silverado 2014 in July 2018 dealer ship in Orangeburge SC. 3 months after driveing the truck i pulled to stop sign when pulled off the stearing wheel went left and my intentions was to go straight my luck was on my side that day. I finally fought the steering back straight and pulled over turned truck off then started back up and no probloms until later on started getting codes on the dash so i took to dealer ship closet one near me , they reboted the ECM and i told the service manger at that time i open the hood and showed him the wire that sometimes i go to start truck all it would do make a cliking noise open hood shake the big cable coming from the battery then truck would start, finaly summer arrives i start useing my air condition it finally went out took back too dealer they say needed new compressor i had warranty at the time replaced compressor after 2 week no A/C back 2nd time a/c issues they put die in compressor no leaks drive another 2 weeks same no a/c tack back to dealer then they tell me my waranty has run out and appears you have condinsor leaking refrigerant they wanted me to pay for i finally agreed to pay half and dealer pay half . Going back to about the second time i took the truck to the dealer when it was under warranty showed service manager cable that would cause truck not start until wiggled the wire. He told me that if that problom would have to change the ECM he said would cost alot of money when come 3rd time they refered to a dealership in Rockinham nc. so they could do a electrical codes diagnostic after my warranty had out when i asked why dont yall have the machine hear after you seen me at dealership 7 times after took truck ROCKINGJAM NC. DEALER checked codes erased few and few weeks later get into crash going arond a suv and cotton picker after starting go around suv turns left i tryed to turn steering wheel back over to my drive lane i had no stearing crashed into suv both total loss.
The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 50-65 MPH, the turn signal switch was engaged, and all the dashboard lights turned off temporarily. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. The contact stated while pulling into a parking space, the vehicle inadvertently lost power steering and electrical power. The warning message "Stability Control Activated" was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic. The failure reoccurred while the independent mechanic test drove the vehicle however, the independent mechanic could not duplicate the failure since the OBD reader was not reading any codes. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,400.

My truck will start flickering and shuts off jerking the steering wheel out of my hand, then tells me to service stabilitrak. It mostly happens when I am driving (coming to a stop sign/light and/or while turning). Had it taken to two different dealers and they keep telling me it’s a mechanical issue when It seems more electrical.
I was towing my 44 foot trailer and I suddenly got an error that the trailer and the braking system was not connected to the truck. Luckily I was not going fast and was able to still stop but I have been driving the truck also when nothing was attached to my vehicle and I get that same morning trailer brake not attached in an error. I have contacted Chevrolet and they say there is nothing wrong there’s no recall on it but if you get online and all the places were the owners of General Motors trucks you will find numerous complaints about this problem they say they cannot duplicate this at the shops. But it continues to happen they say replace this and it still happens replace that and it still happens there’s a major problem somewhere and I imagine there have been accidents due to this error. I think it needs to be looked at from what I can tell it has not been I also had owned a GMC 20 14. 1/2 ton pick up and it had the same problem and I got the same answers. I reported this problem with my 2014 GMC 3-4 yrs ago
Truck has 98,500 miles on it. Radiator is cracked and leaking, roof leaks when raining, electric power steering randomly jerks the wheel out of your hand and almost causes you to crash.
wiring harness for vehicle is poorly design and is sitting next to hot engine block where the wires are melted and caused a short in the whole entire vehicle, all system is shut down when overheated, this means while traveling at any speed everything goes dead which is considered a highly unsafe situation.
The system that failed is the speedometer display and radio display while driving. This can be dangerous as I do not know the speed I am driving. This can also be dangerous as the display includes the screen for the backup camera that turns off without notice while backing up. The problem has happened many times in my 2015 Chevrolet Silverado. I have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado for a company vehicle and the issue occurs in it, as well. I notified the GM dealership where both vehicles were purchased and they said the screen could be replaced but would be very expensive. No warning lamps or messages occurred. The screen jumps around a lot and occurs at various times (morning, afternoon, warm or cold weather, etc.).
I estimate this has happened over 10 times. I lose all electrical power to the vehicle and the car shuts off, often this is preceded by loss of power steering and low speed. The last time this happened when pulling out into traffic; the steering kicked back, the truck lost all electrical power, dash went blank, radio dark, including loss of head lights, I will reiterate that this happened while pulling into traffic. This truck cost me over $40k new and I believe Chevy is aware of the problem, then simply don't want to cover the cost of parts and labor to fix. The dealership told me they had no idea what the issue could be, then I found several GM documents online. It appears this is a known issue, and they even list 2015 Silverado on documents. Bulletin No.: 18-NA-161 (The issues in this match exactly what I've experienced) also Reference Number:N172085440 Please help me convince Chevrolet to fix this issue or force them to do a recall.
for months i have been experiencing small issues at first, turn signal quit making noise, and then the radio quit working, this issue would only be corrected by turning off the vehicle, and restarting it, now the problem has gotten worse, tpms lights up on the dashboard the stabillitrack icon appears, and vehicle appears to stall momentarily and the radio goes blank, the most dangerous part is the electric steering wheel locks up, i have read several complaints online about this issue, and find no solution has ever been recorded, so far i have experiment this issue at low speeds and it is a interment problem that randomly happens
The 2015 Chevy Silverado has a very common problem, which I am shocked has not been put under a nation wide recall. A manufacturing issue of placing the negative battery cable in the wrong spot, causes the dash, power steering, stability tracking and air conditioning to shut off completely. When braking, the dash shuts off and the steering wheel locks, which has sent me into oncoming traffic. My brother had the exact same year make and model of truck and had the same exact issue. When his needed to be fixed, he was told the same thing from the dealership. “The negative battery cable should have never been in placed in that position, but relocating it will fix the problem. Only, after replacing the battery it burned out as well. Here is the text I received from the dealership today. “Hey Brian, this is Matt @ Ken Garff Chevrolet, we have tracked the problem down on the truck to the negative battery cable. It has high resistance causing the electrical issues. Estimate for repairs $492 before tax. Reply STOP to OptOut.” It’s a very good thing they diagnosed the issue, since I told them what it was when I walked in their shop. I told them verbatim what they sent back to me. There are literally thousands of complaints online with the same issue. How does a manufacturing fault, that is most definitely a safety issue, become the consumers expense. This problem is much worse, and more dangerous than the recalls that are currently on the vehicle. How many accidents and how much consumer money needs to be spent, before a recall is placed on such a common manufacturing issue. Please let me know what needs to be done to get this taken care of, so more people aren’t in danger, or screwed into paying to fix a blatant error by the manufacturer.
unknown When driving vehicle will randomly and often lose power -- the radio and dash lights go out, the steering wheel locks up -- sometimes the vehicle will have to be restarted
A/C Condenser gave out causing window to fog/ same issue with all GM / TAHOE / SUBURBAN / ESCALADE . Life safety issue visibility compromised I have a 2015 Chevy Silverado with only 30k on it. This should be a mandatory recall.
My truck shakes frequently going down the road at certain speeds. I've had it for around 6 years now and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I've had the truck in for maintenance/service at the dealership as well as other auto shops trying to diagnose the problem. I've had new tries, new brakes, countless tire rotations, wheel balancing etc you name it. And the problem persists. Recently after hearing about the "Chevy Shake" I've come to realize that my problems are just like what others have too. Now my powertrain has given out. And my extended warranty has ended. I truly believe that the issues have caused, or are caused by this prevailing issue of a wobbling drive shaft. Every time I have had it in for repairs the issue still persists and I can't always get the time to go back and have it looked at it again. It is a safety issue above all else and I truly believe GM knows about it but does nothing. Even more to the point, I had a "transmission fluid flush" just under a month ago and now all of a sudden my truck doesn't shift like it should. They say it will cost over 5 thousand dollars to get repaired. There is something seriously wrong here. This is an ongoing issue, and again it is difficult to say when it started. But a vehicle going down the highway at speed limit and shaking is a safety concern.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE TRUCK WILL COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHILE IN A TURN. ALL DASHBOARD INFORMATION SHUTS DOWN. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS DRIVING ABOUT 35-50 MPH GOING STRAIGHT AND THEN TURNING ON BLINKER ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A LANE CHANGE THE TRUCK CUTS OUT AND SHUTS OFF FOR A SECOND AND TURNS BACK ON. THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND USING POWER WINDOWS SOMETIMES CAUSES THE TRUCK TO SHUT OFF FOR A SECOND AND COME BACK ON. THIS HAPPENS IN PARK, TURNING, OR DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE SHOP AND THIS IS AFTER THE SOFTWARE UPDATE, AND THE VACUUM PUMP FOR THE BRAKES WAS REPLACED TWICE.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY ON A TYPICAL WINTER DAY IN MICHIGAN. THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ON TO MELT SOME SNOW/ICE ON THE REAR WINDOW. AFTER BEING QUIET/NORMAL, SUDDENLY A LOUD HISSING/SIZZLING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER, LASTED LESS THAN A MINUTE BEFORE I WAS SMELLING SOMETHING BURNING. THE DEFROSTER CIRCUIT THEN FRIED IN A LARGE PUFF OF SMOKE WITH A SUBSTANTIAL "POP" SOUND. AFTER A BRIEF DELAY OF JUST A FEW SECONDS, THE REAR WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED/SHATTERED. THIS IS AFTER A KNOWN RECALL WAS ISSUED BY GM FOR THIS VERY ISSUE. I HAD THE ISSUE ADDRESSED AT MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN AUGUST. IN THEIR SERVICE REPORT, IT SAID "INSPECTED REAR SLIDING WINDOW TERMINALS AND COVERS FOR DAMAGE. INSTALL REVISED TERMINAL COVER. ALSO INSTALL NEW DESIGN BUSS BAR COVERS. OK NO HEAT DAMAGE FOUND." AGAIN, MY PROBLEM OCCURRED *AFTER* MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP ALLEGEDLY ADDRESSED THIS KNOWN PROBLEM AND ALREADY-ISSUED RECALL. I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING WHETHER OR NOT THE REPAIRS/INSPECTION THEY CLAIMED THEY DID ACTUALLY HAPPENED. IF THEY DID, CLEARLY THEY DID NOT REMEDY THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM. I AM NOW TRYING TO GET INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE REAR WINDOW. AT MINIMUM, THEY'VE SAID IT COULD TAKE TWO DAYS TO GET THE REPLACEMENT WINDOW.

I TURNED OFF THE REAR DEFROSTER AND THE SMOKE STARTED TO DISSIPATE. MY REAR WINDOW THEN SHATTERED. GM RECALLED 159,000 VEHICLES IN CANADA DUE TO WHAT SEEMS LIKE THE SAME ISSUE WITH REAR DEFROSTERS. MY TRUCK WAS PURCHASED IN THE UNITED STATES.

THE CODE FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME UP AS P06DA WHICH MOST LIKELY INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE OIL CONTROL SOLENOID (BASED ON MOST OF THE VIDEOS AND REVIEWS ON THE INTERNET). UNFORTUNATELY, GM NEVER MADE A RECALL ABOUT THIS!! THIS PROBLEM COSTS ABOUT 3K TO FIX AT THE DEALER.

OUR 2015 SILVERADO 1500 HAS STUTTERING/ HESITATION WHEN ACCELERATING, WHEN TURNING ON TO A STREET YOU CAN NOT GET UP TO SPEED QUICK ENOUGH IT ACTS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING HOLD IT BACK. WE HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG AND WIRE AND ALL THE COIL PACKS. THE VOLTAGE METER ON THE TRUCK KEEP FLUCTUATING SO WE REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY AND THAT DID NOTHING AND KEPT FLUCTUATING SO WE GOT ANOTHER ALTERNATOR AND ANOTHER AND ANOTHER AND ANOTHER.. SO 5 ALTERNATORS LATER AND STILL NO FIX. BUT THE HARD SHIFTING IS THE MAIN CONCERN. BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING TRYING TO GET INTO ANOTHER LANE THE TRUCK WITH JUST START HESITATING AND JERKING UNTIL IT LAUNCHES INTO GEAR. 1ST GEAR GOING INTO 2ND GEAR THE TRUCK WILL SHIFT EXTREMELY HARD AND 2ND GOING INTO 3RD FEELS LIKE YOU ARE GALLOPING UNTIL IT FINALLY ENGAGES. THE COMPUTER HAS BEEN REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED WITH ALL UPDATES BY AND ASE CERTIFIED MECHANIC. ALSO DID A TRANSMISSION FLUID FLUSH AND CHANGED. NO SERVICE LIGHT. JUST BAFFLED WITH ALL THESE COMPLAINTS ABOUT TRANSMISSION WHY NOTHING IS DOWN. IT IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED ON A PAVED ROAD WHEN THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER WAS TURNED ON TO CLEAR SNOW ON THE OUTSIDE. SEVERAL MOMENTS LATER I HEARD A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE REAR INTERIOR OF THE PICKUP CAB AND THEN LOOKED INTO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR, AT WHICH TIME I SAW SMOKE EMITTING FORM THE LOWER CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE FIXED WINDOW PANE (THIS IS 3 PIECE REAR WINDOW WHERE THE MIDDLE PAN OPENS VIA ELECTRICAL SWITCH). THE HISSING CONTINUED WITH THE SMOKE THAT WAS COMING FROM THE LOWER CORNER OF THE WINDOW NEAREST TO THE CENTRAL WINDOW PANEL. I IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZED THE ODOR OF AN ELECTRICAL FIRE (BURNING INSULATION) AND THEN TURNED OFF THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER SWITCH. THE HISSING SOUND AND SMOKE CEASED. A FEW SECONDS LATER 8 HEARD A LOUD 'POP' SOUND COME FROM THE BACK WINDOW AND OBSERVED THAT THE ENTIRE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD SHATTERED, IN PLACE WITH THE FRACTURE LINE EMANATING OUTWARD FROM HE AREA WHERE THE SMOKE WAS FIRST OBSERVED.

I DID HIT A DOG BC I COULDNT SEE IT..... AND TO THINK ALL THE 1000'S OF PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM BC OF A FLAWED DESIGN. I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 SILVERADO 1500 WHEN MY DAUGHTER IN THE BACKSEAT NOTICED THAT'S SOMETHING SMELL LIKE IT WAS BURNING, SHE TOLD ME AND WITHIN 10 SECONDS I COULD SMELL THE SAME THING AND IT SMELLED LIKE ELECTRICAL WAS BURNING. I COULD SEE SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND HER HEADREST SO I PULLED OFF THE ROAD IMMEDIATELY AND GOT HER OUT OF THE BACK SEAT AND COULD SEE IT WAS COMING FROM EITHER THE SLIDE WINDOW OR THE DEFROSTER SO I JUMPED IN THE FRONT SEAT AND SEEN THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ON AND SHUT THAT OFF AND ALMOST IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING ME SHUTTING THAT OFF IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT WENT OFF IN MY BACK SEAT AND THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW EXPLODED THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT TOGETHER WAS THE FACTORY WINDOW TINT. THERE IS ALL KIND OF GLASS SHARDS IN THE BACKSEAT FROM WHEN IT SHATTERED. I HAD TO HAVE MY WIFE PICK UP MY DAUGHTER BECAUSE SHE IS TOO YOUNG TO SIT IN THE FRONT SEAT. SO I HAVE TO PUT TAPE OVER THE WINDOW TO HOLD IT TOGETHER UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTS ME BACK.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY USED THE REMOTE STARTER TO START THE VEHICLE FROM INSIDE THE HOUSE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, THE CONTACT NOTICED A LITTLE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR SLIDING GLASS WINDOW. THE CONTACT WALKED OUT TO THE VEHICLE TO INVESTIGATE THE ORIGIN OF THE SMOKE AND NOTICED THAT THE GLASS FROM THE REAR WINDOW WAS GLOWING A CHERRY RED COLOR. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE RIGHT BEFORE THE REAR WINDOW GLASS SHATTERED. THE DEALER (ELM CHEVROLET, 301 E CHURCH ST, ELMIRA, NY 14901) STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY A WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO WIRING SHORT CIRCUIT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. *TR

WHEN DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT APPROXIMATELY 30MPH , ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS SUDDENLY DIED AND VEHICLE SHUT DOWN. COASTED TO A STOP WITHOUT POWER BRAKES OR STEERING CONTROL, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. TURNED OFF AND ON IGNITION AND COMPUTER SYSTEM HAD ME "TURN ON AND OFF DRIVER WINDOW'. ALSO REFERENCE A FEW OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ERRORS THAT CLEARED AFTER ONCE AGAIN STARTING VEHICLE. DURING THE RESULTING 20 MINUTE DRIVE HOME, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHOWED A FEW ERRORS, ONCE WHEN INITIATING A TURN SIGNAL AND HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED BUT CAR DID NOT SUDDENLY DIE. NEXT DAY IT IS NOW RUNNING OKAY SO FAR. RESEARCHING THIS SUDDEN ELECTRICAL AND TOTAL SYSTEM SHUTDOWN ONLINE I FOUND NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH 2014/2015 SILVERADO MODELS FROM OTHERS. DISCUSSED WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND FOUND THEY HAVE SEEN OTHER CUSTOMERS LOCALLY WITH THIS INTERMITTENT ISSUE AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM.

I WAS ON A CITY ROAD DRIVING AT 45 MPH ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER I USED THE FACTORY REMOTE START. SMOKE STARTED POURING FROM BEHIND THE REAR SEAT AND THEN ONE OF THE BACK WINDOWS SHATTERED. THIS IS A WIDELY REPORTED ISSUE AND THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL FOR IT.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM AFTER IT SHOWED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE SIGNS OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) RECALL AFFECTING IT. THE DEALERSHIP APPLIED THE FIX THAT GM HAD AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE VERY NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM ACTING UP AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 M.P.H. ON THE HIGHWAY BEGINNING THE INTERCHANGE TO ANOTHER HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS. THE LOSS OF STEERING WAS ALMOST AS SOON AS I STARTED THE TURN AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GO OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. THEN FOR THE NEXT 5-7 SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING TURNED BACK ON AND, BECAUSE OF HOW HARD I WAS TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL, I ALMOST ENDED UP IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT WHERE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS. I HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES LIKE THIS UNTIL THE RECALL WAS WORKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE TRUCK WAS ACTING WEIRD, AND AT A STOP THE TRUCK FELT AS IF IT WAS STRUGGLING TO STAY RUNNING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND AGREED TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THEM TWO DAYS LATER. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS DUE TO BAD BATTERY CABLES AND THAT CAUSED POWER LOSS DURING THE TURN. THEY SPENT HOURS SCANNING THE SYSTEM TO FIND THAT THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED, WHICH THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT FIND, BUT THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT THAT SHOWED ON THE DASH NOTIFYING ME THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT AND TO DRIVE WITH CARE, SO I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DID NOT FIND IT DURING THEIR SCAN. THEY THEN TELL ME THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN, THAT CAME OUT A MONTH AFTER THE EPS RECALL DID, AND IT WILL BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. I CANNOT STOP THINKING THAT THIS ISSUE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE EPS SOFTWARE FIX AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED TO THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE BATTERY CABLES.

THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A MINOR INJURY THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE SUSTAINED FRONT END DAMAGE AND WAS TOWED. THE BODY DAMAGE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT SURE IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. AFTER THE REPAIRS, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND DID NOT DRIVE IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON THE ROAD. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE SEAT BELTS SHOCKED HIM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WAS EXPOSED AND THE AIR BAG SHOWED BURN MARKS AROUND THE EDGES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THE TRUCK SHAKES AT SPEEDS OF FROM 35 MPH, THEN IT STOPS AND WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 60 AND 70 ON THE THRUWAY IT SHAKES AGAIN. THE VIBRATION IS TRANSFERRED THROUGH THE GAS PEDEL AND INTO THE SEATS AND CONSOLE. ALSO WHEN BRAKEING IT SHAKES. ITS BEEN IN FOR SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES FOR THIS SINCE I BOUGHT IT. ALSO THE VOLTAGE METER DROPS AND I LOSE DASH BOARD LIGHTS.THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON BOTH CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING. I'M TIRED OF LOSEING VALUABLE DAYS OFF TO DRIVE UP TO DENOOYER CHEVY IN ALBANY TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THIS AGAIN. THE TRUCK TRAVELS STRAIGHT AND TRUE BUT SHAKES AT THOSE SPEEDS, SOMETIME IT MAKES A DROWNING SOUND AS IT HAPPENS.ITS IN THE FRONT END PART OF THE SUSPENSION I BELIEVE. THE TIRES WERE ALL HIGH SPEED BALANCED AND AIR IS PERFECT IN ALL 4 TIRES. HAS ANYONE EXPERIENCED THIS?

MY TRUCK WAS RECALLED I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY DEALER ABOUT THE RECALL. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO DECATUR JAMES WOODS CHEVROLET WHICH PERFORMED A RECALL ON THE EPS MODULE FOR A STEERING RECALL. NOTE PRIOR TO ME TAKING MY VEHICLE IN I HAD NO PROBLEMS OR ISSUES. I TAKE MY TRUCK IN FOR DOCUMENTED OIL CHANGES AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. ONCE THEY DID THE RECALL FLASH UPDATE REPROGRAMMING I PICKED UP MY TRUCK AND ON THE WAY HOME THE DASH LIGHTS BLINKED OFF THE STABILITRAC ERROR AND TOW HAUL ERROR BOTH CAME UP. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY ON THE WAY USING HANDS FREE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THE RECALL COULDN'T CAUSE THAT. ON THE ROAD TO MY HOUSE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS LIGHT SPRAIN TO MY WRIST AND ALMOST TOOK ME OFF THE ROAD AS THE BRAKES ALSO FAILED TO WORK VERY WELL. THE TRUCK DIED TO A STOP. WHEN I RESTARTED IT SHOWED NO ERRORS AND ALL WORKED AGAIN. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN STARTED IT DISPLAYED A CALIBRATION ERROR AND HAD ME OPEN AND CLOSE MY DRIVER WINDOW. WHEN DRIVING TO MY DEALERSHIP JERRY'S CHEVY IT BLINKED THE DASH AGAIN WHEN I USED MY BLINKER TO CHANGE LANES. THE POWER AND RPM WHERE ALL OVER THE PLACE AND RUNNING VERY ROUGH. WHEN I GOT TO JERRY'S THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T TOUCH IT AND TAKE THE LIABILITY AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY HAD MESSED SOMETHING UP. NEXT MORNING TO TO LOCAL MECHANIC WE HAVE USED THEY PUT COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND SHOWED ALL KINDS OF ERRORS AS WE TEST DROVE WHILE HOOKED UP. HE SAID THE RECALL PROGRAM HAS EVIDENTLY CAUSED COMMUNICATION ISSUES TO OTHER MODULES AND CAN TEAR UP THE TRUCK. I TOOK IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT AND TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. I DROPPED IT OFF TRUCK STILL HAVING ISSUES AND RUNNING AND SOUNDING WORSE AND LOSING POWER AND VOLTAGE GAUGE DROPPING AND GOING BACK TO NORMAL. SAFETY CONCERN FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS ON ROAD DUE TO THIS RECALL FLASH.

OH YEAH, THE A/C NEVER GETS USED, OTHERWISE I WOULD'VE HAD IT FIXED 20K MILES AGO UNDER WARRANTY BUT I DIDN'T KNOW IT WASN'T WORKING. 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 5.3L 4X4 (48,000 MILES). WHILE DRIVING LAST NIGHT I WAS U-TURNING AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION WHEN THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, THEN FLASHED "STABILITRAK" ON THE DASH, AND JERKED THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY HAND. SHOULD THERE HAVE BEEN SOMEONE COMING THE OTHER DIRECTION THERE SURLY WOULD HAVE A MAJOR HEAD ON COLLISION. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AFTER RE-FIRING THE TRUCK AND TRIED SOME LOW SPEED SHARP TURNS AND SURE ENOUGH THE SAME ISSUE. FLICKERING POWER, "STABILITRAK" FLASHING ON DASH, AND STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HAND. WHEN I SAY STEERING JERKED ITS NOT AS IF I JUST LOST POWER STEERING, THE WHEEL WILL ACTUALLY JERK AS IF ITS TRYING TO GET BACK TO CENTER ON ITS OWN. I LEFT THE TRUCK OVER NIGHT AND WENT BACK THIS MORNING TO HAVE SOMEONE FOLLOW ME HOME. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THERE IS NO ISSUED RECALL FOR MY VIN. I'VE FOUND HUNDREDS OF STORIES AND VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET VERY SIMILAR TO MINE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THERE ARE SOME RECALLS FOR OTHER MODEL YEARS THAT SOUND LIKE THEY ARE AIMED AT THE PROBLEM BUT NOT FOR MY MODEL/YEAR AND EVERYONE I'VE FOUND THAT HAS HAD THE RECALLS FOR STEERING AND VOLTAGE ISSUES SAYS THAT THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. ITS TERRIFYING THINKING THAT IM DRIVING A 6,000LBS MASS THAT CAN SHUT OFF AND STEER ITSELF OUT OF NO WHERE. RIDICULOUS THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED OR EVEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY GM!

WHILE PARKED OVER NIGHT IN THE GARAGE THE SABILITRAK LIGHT WAS ON AND SERVICE TRAILER SYSTEM. TRUCK WOULDN'T START SO I JUMP STARED HE TRUCK. THAT WORKED TWICE THOUGH OUT THE DAY AND ON MY LAST DRIVE WHILE I WAS REVERSING THE STEERING WHEEL WAS PULLED FROM MY HAND AND THE 'STABILITRAK' LIGHT CAME ON! FINALLY WHILE PARKED BEFORE MY TRUCK ENGINE WOULDN'T TURN OVER THE 'STABILITRAK' LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND 'SERVICE TRAILER SYSTEM' I'VE NEVER USED MY TRAILER SYSTEM. MY TRUCK WOULDN'T EVEN TURN OVER 'CRANK'. I HAD TO TOW MY TRUCK HOME AND I'M JUST HAPPY THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WASN'T PULLED FROM MY HAND WITH MY TWO KIDS WITH ME IN THE ROAD!
THE STABILITRAK NOTIFICATION APPEARS AND THE STEERING WHEEL MOVES ON IT'S OWN TO THE STRAIGHT POSITION. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE BACKING UP MORE THAN ONCE. ALSO, THE STEREO SCREEN HAS BLACKED OUT AND THE VEHICLES POWER CUT OUT ON MY WIFE WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE.

THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE REAR PASSENGER TAIL LIGHTS HAS CORRODED. POINT OF CORROSION IS THE "CUP OR SOCKET" THAT THE TAIL LIGHT BULB IS INSERTED INTO. CORROSION FAILURE OCCURRED AT 28 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP OF THE NEW VEHICLE. SOCKET DID NOT HAVE ANY TYPE OF CORROSION PREVENTING DIELECTRIC GREASE PRESENT AS I HAVE TYPICALLY SEEN IN TAIL LIGHT CONNECTIONS.UNFORTUNATELY, SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS AT 40,000 MILES IT WAS CONSIDERED OUT OF WARRANTY AND ALL EXPENSE FOR REPAIR OF DEFECTIVE MANUFACTURING. DEALERSHIP ALSO RECOMMENDED THE REPLACEMENT OF A SOCKET WITH FIELD SOLDIERING RATHER THAN REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE WIRE HARNESS WHICH SEEMS LIKE A SOLUTION TO CREATE MORE CORROSION ISSUES. CORROSION CAUSED THE LOSS OF TAIL LIGHTS ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO LACK OF WARNING/INDICATION FROM VEHICLES BEHIND.

FURTHERMORE, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. ONE MORNING WHEN I WAS DRIVING MY 2015 CHEVY SILVERADO, I NOTICED A MESSAGE ON THE DASH BOARD SCREEN WHICH READ "RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT SIGNAL FAILURE. I WENT TO THE NEAREST AUTO PARTS STORE AND PURCHASED REPLACEMENT BULBS AND NOTICED THAT THE BULBS WEREN'T THE PROBLEM. I ALSO CHECKED THE FUSES AND DID NOT FIND ANY BLOWN FUSES WHICH AGAIN WASN'T THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER THE RIGHT REAR TAIL LIGHT WILL TURN ON IF THE LIGHTS ARE ON BUT WILL NOT BLINK WHEN THE SIGNAL LIGHT IS ON OR IF THE BRAKES ARE ENGAGED. LATER THAT NIGHT I REALIZED THAT NONE OF THE INTERIOR LIGHTS WORKED EITHER; WEATHER THE LIGHT IS IN THE DOOR POSITION OR THE ON POSITION. I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BUT WITH THIS TRUCK BEING SO NEW WITH LESS THAN 45000 MILES, THESE PROBLEMS SHOULDN'T BE HAPPENING.

WHILE BACKING UP THE TRUCK IS LOCKING UP ON ME, AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS JERKING OUT OF MY HANDS, WHICH WILL DYE OUT AS WELL. WHEN I GO TO START IT BACK UP THE TRUCK THEN GIVES ME AN ERROR MESSAGE OF ROLL DOWN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW THAT YOU HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO CLEAR IT OUT. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE APPROX. 10 MILES WITH THE LIGHT ON AND WHILE TURNING OFF A BUSY ROAD, ACROSS ON-COMING TRAFFIC, THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. NO STEERING, NO FORWARD MOVEMENT, NOTHING. IT VIRTUALLY WENT DEAD! I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK AND TRY TO START IT AGAIN (THANK GOODNESS NO TRAFFIC COMING THROUGH AT THE TIME). AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT STARTED AGAIN AND I BEGAN TO DRIVE AROUND THE CORNER TO MY HOME, WHERE IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AGAIN, IN FRONT OF MY DRIVEWAY. HAD IT TOWED, AS I WAS NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING IT AGAIN. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS UNABLE TO CONCLUDE WHAT HAPPENED. THEY TESTED IT WITH THE SPARE KEY, AND STILL NO SIGN OF ANY TROUBLE. I AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THIS TRUCK.

SO DUE TO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE YOLK ON THE DIFFERENTIAL, THE LAG IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT AND ENGINE COMMUNICATION LEADS TO EXTREME VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CLUNKING AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN. SO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS THERE IS A DELAY IN THE MOTOR RECOGNIZING IT SO IT REVS UP SOME SO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY FINDS THE GEAR IT CAUSES IT TO KICK. AND SINCE THE YOLK HAS PLAY IN IT, IT CAUSES THE DIFFERENTIAL TO CLUNK AS THE ROTATION OF THE DRIVESHAFT CATCHES UP AT A QUICKER RATE. WHICH LEADS TO MORE LOOSENESS IN THE YOKE AND CREATES A WOBBLE IN THE DRIVESHAFT. AND AN UNSETTLING SOUND WHILE DRIVING AROUND.

FINALLY IT VIOLENTLY JERKED THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY HANDS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS (TRUCK HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING). THIS HAPPENED AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN VARIOUS TURNS BUT I AM CONCERNED IT COULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH WOULD CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH AND/OR DEATH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I AM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TRIES TO PULL BACK MIDLINE FOR ABOUT A SECOND OR TWO THEN GOES BACK TO WHERE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY TURNED TO. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK UP ON SUNDAY I HAD TO RE-ENTER THE TIME IN THE RADIO BUT ALL STATIONS WERE STILL PROGRAMED INTO IT. I NOTICED WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AND IT MAKES THAT NOISE THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER A LITTLE BIT. ON THE WAY INTO WORK THIS MORNING THAT NOISE WAS NOT THERE BUT DURING A TURN ON THE INTERSTATE THE STEERING WHEEL TRIED THREE OR FOUR TIMES TO RETURN TO MIDLINE DURING THE TURN.
