I was driving on a busy street with a speed limit of around 45 mph and my torque converter failed causing my transmission to fail and my truck to become disabled in the middle of a busy road. It blocked traffic causing a potential danger to surrounding motorists and required assistance to be moved to a nearby parkin lot and later to be towed to the Chevrolet Dealership. The dealership confirmed that the transmission had failed. I subsequently took it to a specialist transmission shop that dismantled it an indicated that the torque converter had failed (a known problem with this year and model transmission) and that the failure had led to catastrophic damage to the transmission. There were no warning signs other than a couple of hard shifts just prior to failure. I was lucky that this occurred on a dry level street and not on a narrow mountain pass while pulling a trailer where the results could have been much different.

After years of driving like a grandma, my transmission unexpectedly failed while travelling down the freeway at 70mph. There were no warning signs, no vibrations, and I changed my transmission fluid at the dealer-recommended intervals. Huge bummer, really. I use my truck for work, and because of the time of year, it is unlikely that I'll be able to get it repaired for a few weeks. Certainly not going to help my bank account either, since a new transmission from Chevrolet is $4,800 before labor and other parts.

2015 5.3 with afm related failure / lifter collapse still within warranty by mileage (5 yrs, 100,000 miles I think), out by years in service, was diagnosed by a GM authorized dealership by a GM Master Certified Technician and under the supervision of service manager. Issue Description On 6/18/2025, the dealership diagnosed a failure in the #7 lifter due to afm / afm related failure / lifter collapse. The vehicle’s engine, diagnosed at approximately 58,000 miles and minimal idle hours. While the GM Master technician is confident that only one side of lifters require immediate replacement, there is a possibility of damage to the camshaft lobe, which cannot be inspected without significant additional labor. There is also a concern about potential metal contamination in the oil, which could further impact the engine’s performance. I also have many documented repair orders indicating my concern with the transmissions performance.

My engine shakes when shifting into the V4 from the V6 and my transmission shifts hard as well as a dieseling affect when shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd gear. Rear main seal was replaced 1000 miles ago and now has to be replaced again due to the rapid shaking of the V4 cylinder deactivation(which was a terrible way to make the reliable 4.3 Lt engine unreliable)

Experienced a problem with electrical theft deterrent system and it shut the vehicle off while driving. I tried to start the vehicle and nothing happened except it said theft deterrent system. I took the key out tried starting again and it turned over immediately. The dash said theft deterrent and I clicked dismiss but the dash icon (a car with a lock light) remained on. I then drove 11 miles home. I turned on my directional proceeded to brake upon approaching my driveway. As I attempted to turn the steering wheel the vehicle completely shut off. The info system stating theft deterrent active. I lost power steering and brakes. I needed to press the brakes with great force because the vehicle was headed towards the sidewalk and a road sign. Steering was virtually unresponsive. Vehicle stopped as the tires reached the curb and approximately 1 ft from the sign. Placed vehicle in park and started it back up. Pulled into my driveway and the info system stated I need to roll the drivers window down and the up to deactivate. I have checked all battery connections are intact and tight. The battery, starter and alternator were all checked and fine. I have no idea what caused this dangerous behavior. The incident happened on MA Rt. 126 988 S. Main st Bellingham MA 02019

Transmission failure at 133,000 miles due to faulty tourque converter … which was replaced AFTER … i repeat AFTER… replacing all components that failed because of the faulty torque converter … so now its showing same symptoms as did before failed … only 30,000 since repairs

The torque converter with the 6L80 transmission went and destroyed the transmission in my 2015 Silverado. Which is going to cost me thousands of dollars to fix. With the 10's of thousands of people affected, Chevy should of done a recall on the torque converter and/or transmission. There were no signs/symptoms, the truck started shaking like I was driving over rumble strips, no check engine light. I was able to get it to a mechanic immediately and it sits there unusable at this time.

I bought my 2015 Silverado Z71 LT new in 2015, after a few months I started experiencing the "chevy shake", I took it back and they replaced the tires saying its fixed. It didnt fix it, after getting ready to call and go back it stopped doing it. Throughout the years it has done it off and on, I have had the driveshaft balanced, 3 sets of wheels and 5 sets of tires, U-joints, both fron CV Axles, bearings and bushings in the differential, transmission checked and fluids and filter changed, still does it. The truck only has 38,850 miles, I saw that there is a class action lawsuit against GM for knowingly selling these vehicles with bad driveshafts or transmissions. I will have it back in the shop Tuesday 9/24/24 to have them look again.

After start up and when putting the vehicle into drive the transmission seemed to not recognize and then began clunking into gear. While driving it felt like it was slipping and racing with no response. The vehicle became to precarious to drive on the road because the gears wouldn't shift and the vehicle decelerated quickly and would not accelerate upon demand. I felt as if I could endanger others and lose control and endanger myself and the occupants of the vehicle. We chose not to drive it and bring it in for an assessment and ultimately was told of the problem and agreed to the repair to gain our vehicle back in safe working condition. The vehicle needed a total transmission rebuild and torque converter as well as other tranny related items. No warning lights but we did begin to hear a whining noise while cycling through what seemed to be the gears.

My transmission is not shifting into gear and is not pulling anymore. Also,the transmission has been shifting hard and jerking into and out of gear while driving. The jerking into gear while driving has been going on since I purchased the truck in 2015. I told the Chevrolet dealership about it a few times. I even asked if there was a recall. Their answer was, no recall and all of the Silverado transmission pull like that.

The transmission has failed in less than 150,000 miles. I was driving in traffic and lost gears. I stopped and tried to get back going and I was stuck being a traffic hazard to the other motorist. I talked to a local transmission shop and he stated that the 2014-2016 Silverados are known for transmission problems even when they were new. He’s rebuilt hundreds of them and Chevrolet should have recalled and fixed them. There were no warning lights or anything through the truck.

Transmission sounds different and clunks lightly once in a while. There is a known problem w this type of transmission but GM is not accepting it as a recall concern and many dealers are ignoring repairs are needed.

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that when making a left or a right turn, or while shifted into reverse, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that he heard a popping sound throughout the vehicle. The contact stated that upon inspecting the ground cables, the electrical system was reset. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that a message was displayed on the instrument panel to roll down the window and back up. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the failure could not be duplicated; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse, he heard a popping sound throughout the vehicle and all the electrical system flickered. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering). An undisclosed dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the recall had expired and advised the contact to bring the vehicle to the dealer for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 190,000.

A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado seemed to be running rougher after an oil change. When inspected by dealership, Litha Chevrolet located 200 East Cypress Ave in Redding CA, they identified lower end knocking and lifter ticking noise. Also identified was PO300 was randomly missing and PO324 Knock Sensor performance. The dealership recommended total engine replacement, after reviewing the report. The 2015 Silverado is currently out of commission. It is not roadway safe. The Silverado has been serviced regularly as recommended and has not been in any collisions in the past. The truck has had one owner previously, my father, who left me the truck when he perished. I relied on the truck for daily and extended transportation for myself and my children. I have maintained excellent care of the 2015 Silverado with regular maintenance and services. There is no explanation of this issue other than it was caused by faulty equipment from the manufacturer. If you can provide any information regarding how to fix this please contact me. Thank you

The transmission began slipping and failed at 106,000 miles in spite of obtaining all recommended services throughout the life of the vehicle. It failed completely while driving, which was a major safety issue. It now needs a new transmission. After searching online, I see that numerous owners have reported issues with the 2015 Chevy Silverado transmission. There were no warning lights. It began to make a noise and a shaking and failed about one week later.

My wife came home and told me there was something wrong with our truck. I went and inspected it and found nothing. The next day i drove the truck about 30 miles up river. Coming home I was traveling around 55 mph the truck came to a sudden slow down as if I had locked up the brakes then drove fine again. This happened three or four times not as bad as first time. While in town stopped at a light it tried to take of. Not like something giving it gas but like it was in gear and the brake wasnt going to hold it. Almost put me into a school bus ahead of me. Then the rest of the way home it kept binding down and releasing then binding back down. Hard to control but not necessarily a break problem. Its something else. I have worked on vehicles all my life, professionally for 25 years. I never seen a vehicle do this. It has to be in the transmission. Maybe something in the torque converter would be my guess. I have heard of the issues with the 8 speed ever sense this happened I have parked this truck. I cant afford a need transmission that doesnt actually fix the problem from what i hear. I feel GM needs to do something here. At least pay for the parts to fix it

For several years this truck will at times start "grade braking" on its own. In other words, at speed, ie: 55 mph, the computer chip will tell the transmission to downshift to assist in "grade braking". The danger is that it actually speeds up the truck, and while attempting to stop at a stop sign, (or light), the truck is actually speeding up, while I am actively pushing on the brake pedal to stop at the light. I ended up having to replace the transmission with a new (rebuilt) transmission. I hoped this would end the problem, but now once again, I have the problem occurring with the replacement transmission. GM tells me they cannot program out the grade braking component. This is a very dangerous situation in which one day I will be unable to stop where required, due to stopped traffic, or a stop signal.

vehicle is shifting hard between 1st and 2nd. it only seems to do it at lower speeds. the RPMS had a shudder between and only once the truck has been running for awhile. has been in to an independent service dept. at the local dealer where it was purchased and has had all work done since purchased. there are no warring lights or check engine messages. they flushed all fluids and hooked to diagnostic machine found nothing. had it back for a week and it did it again. Took it back to them and had them ride along so they could see what it was doing. they replaced the torque converter although the shudder is gone but it still shifts hard between 1/2

I am having issues with my transmission. When I first turn on the truck in the morning, put it in gear, and lightly accelerate the truck accelerates way too fast then cuts out the power. It is enough to throw me forward or back in my seat and it honestly is frightening. I am also having problems with the vehicle shifting incorrectly causing me to have no power or a sudden surge of power. This is usually when i have slowed down and them am trying to accelerate again. Also, When I am slowing down to stoplights, the vehicle will occasionally shift down to too low of a gear and act like i am slamming on the brakes. I have had several close calls with this truck due to this issue. Gm knows about the issue and has refused to recall the vehicles that are having these problems. They are recommending changing out the fluid multiple times at the owners costs. This has resulted in several class action lawsuits. They also have gone to the lengths of changing warranty coverage to no longer include abnormal shifting. This is not safe. This is causing accidents and they are actively covering it up. Please help the hundreds of thousands of people that are having issues. We need your help, I need your help and gm is no longer standing behind their vehicles.

Air conditioning compressor busted and spilled oil and metal shards all over road. Condenser coil sprung a leak in 2019. Heavy vibrations in cabin when driving interstate speeds. Oil cooler lines leaking causing oil leaks and now I am noticing a leak on the radiator! Leak on the inner drivers side axle seal.

The contact stated the Electric Power Steering Assist module was updated under NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V586000 (Steering) however, while driving 55 MPH two years later, the warning message “Service Power Steering” illuminated. The contact continued to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure had been reoccurring and the vehicle would lose power steering while parked. The contact stated that the stability tract control warning light and the 4-wheel drive warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness lid needed to be cleaned and the dialectic grease needed to be applied inside the connectors. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

6l80 transmission has the Chevy shutter or slipping truck only has 60,000 miles not very optimistic that it will last till the 150,000 miles if it’s already acting up and I can hear metal slapping when shifting at various speeds and stopping speeds

The Chevy Silverado shakes around 65-70 mph and is continuing to worsen over the course of time. The original driveshaft may have been replaced by a dealer in the past (vin shows zero recalls to a known failure caused by aluminum driveshafts), but they have been replaced with the exact same aluminum driveshafts. This never resolved the original failure, but only pushed the failure down the road temporarily, putting new buyers safety at risk.

I was driving on the Freeway, when the gears on the Transmission started to idle. I was going about 65 miles per hr, when the vehicle would not move, even as a stepped on the gas pedal. I was able to put my hazard lights on and pulled over on the side shoulder of the Freeway. I immediately put the vehicle in park mode. While in park mode the vehicle started to make a very loud screeching noise. I turned off the vehicle to see if this would troubleshoot the issue. I turned vehicle back on and the noise did not go away, I put the vehicle back into gear and it would not move, it started to shake and the vehicle jumped into which I believe would have been 3rd gear. I was able to drive the vehicle to my house at 5 miles per hr with the Hazard lights on. My house was only 2 miles from the Freeway Exit. During the 2 Mike drive to my house, the vehicle kept jumping into gears. This could have caused a major accident on the Freeway. I need answers.

I purchased the silverado 2014 in July 2018 dealer ship in Orangeburge SC. 3 months after driveing the truck i pulled to stop sign when pulled off the stearing wheel went left and my intentions was to go straight my luck was on my side that day. I finally fought the steering back straight and pulled over turned truck off then started back up and no probloms until later on started getting codes on the dash so i took to dealer ship closet one near me , they reboted the ECM and i told the service manger at that time i open the hood and showed him the wire that sometimes i go to start truck all it would do make a cliking noise open hood shake the big cable coming from the battery then truck would start, finaly summer arrives i start useing my air condition it finally went out took back too dealer they say needed new compressor i had warranty at the time replaced compressor after 2 week no A/C back 2nd time a/c issues they put die in compressor no leaks drive another 2 weeks same no a/c tack back to dealer then they tell me my waranty has run out and appears you have condinsor leaking refrigerant they wanted me to pay for i finally agreed to pay half and dealer pay half . Going back to about the second time i took the truck to the dealer when it was under warranty showed service manager cable that would cause truck not start until wiggled the wire. He told me that if that problom would have to change the ECM he said would cost alot of money when come 3rd time they refered to a dealership in Rockinham nc. so they could do a electrical codes diagnostic after my warranty had out when i asked why dont yall have the machine hear after you seen me at dealership 7 times after took truck ROCKINGJAM NC. DEALER checked codes erased few and few weeks later get into crash going arond a suv and cotton picker after starting go around suv turns left i tryed to turn steering wheel back over to my drive lane i had no stearing crashed into suv both total loss.

Truck has 130k miles. Never used for towing or rough driving. Transmission is going bad. Reached out to GM and was told it’s our problem. We paid 43,000 for this vehicle and transmission issues already. We have a 1997 Chevy Silverado as well. With 321,000 miles on it and just had to replace the transmission. Engine is still running strong. For a vehicle to cost as much as our 2015 you would think the quality would better.

My truck shakes frequently going down the road at certain speeds. I've had it for around 6 years now and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I've had the truck in for maintenance/service at the dealership as well as other auto shops trying to diagnose the problem. I've had new tries, new brakes, countless tire rotations, wheel balancing etc you name it. And the problem persists. Recently after hearing about the "Chevy Shake" I've come to realize that my problems are just like what others have too. Now my powertrain has given out. And my extended warranty has ended. I truly believe that the issues have caused, or are caused by this prevailing issue of a wobbling drive shaft. Every time I have had it in for repairs the issue still persists and I can't always get the time to go back and have it looked at it again. It is a safety issue above all else and I truly believe GM knows about it but does nothing. Even more to the point, I had a "transmission fluid flush" just under a month ago and now all of a sudden my truck doesn't shift like it should. They say it will cost over 5 thousand dollars to get repaired. There is something seriously wrong here. This is an ongoing issue, and again it is difficult to say when it started. But a vehicle going down the highway at speed limit and shaking is a safety concern.

CONCERNING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC, TRANSMISSION HESITATES AND DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY APPLY POWER. HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICED 5 MONTHS AGO DUE TO SHUDDER AND SHAKE BETWEEN 20-35MPH. TRANSMISSION ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD AND FINALLY STOPPED SHIFTING AT ALL WHILE IN MOTION (BACKING OUT OF OUR DRIVEWAY). DESPITE TAKING IT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP FOR 3 YEARS FOR MAINTENANCE, WE WERE NEVER TOLD THEIR WAS A KNOWN ISSUE. WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND ONLY WHEN WE TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP TO GET A SECOND OPINION WERE WE TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT ON SEVERAL GM MODELS. WE ENDED UP HAVING TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REBUILT ALONG WITH THE REAR END TO THE TUNE OF OVER $5,000. LEMON LAW DOES NOT HOLD UP BECAUSE WE DID NOT HAVE ANY WORK DONE UNDER THE WARRANTY (WHICH ONLY COVERED THE FIRST YEAR).

WHEN PLACING THE TRUCK IN REVERSE OR DRIVE THE TRANSMISSION DOES NOT IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND HAVE HAD TWO REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSIONS FOR THIS AND OTHER ISSUES. DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT GENERAL MOTORS CALLS THIS DELAYED ENGAGEMENT. DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN STATING THEY WILL NO LONGER REPLACE TRANSMISSIONS FOR DELAYED ENGAGEMENT. THIS IS UNSAFE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN GEAR AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AND IT DOES NOT MOVE FOR SEVERAL SECONDS AND THE ACCELERATOR IS PRESSED HARDER TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE BUT SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE TRANSMISSION WILL ENGAGE AND THE VEHICLE WILL LUNGE AND UNEXPECTED DISTANCE. THIS SITUATION OCCURS MORE OFTEN WHEN THE TRUCK IS SITTING OVERNIGHT BUT CAN HAPPEN OTHER TIMES ALSO. I AM FAMILIAR WITH THE SITUATION AND USUALLY REMEMBER TO NOT ACCELERATE AND WAIT AN EXTENDED TIME FOR ENGAGEMENT.

TRUCK SHAKES SEVERELY WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS ABOVE 70 MPH ON MANY DIFFERENT ROAD TYPES. THIS PROBLEM STARTED NOT TOO LONG AFTER I GOT MY TRUCK NEW. AFTER COMPLAINING ABOUT IT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THIS IS "STANDARD 22 INCH WHEEL VIBRATION." AFTER I HAD ABOUT 35000 MILES ON IT THE VIBRATION GOT SO BAD I COULDN'T STAND TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THE TIRES WERE WORE OUT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS STILL PLENTY OF TREAD. HAD ANOTHER SHOP LOOK AT IT AND THEY FOUND ONE OF THE WHEELS WAS EVER SO SLIGHTLY BENT. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO CONFIRM. THEY SOLD ME A NEW WHEEL, THE PROBLEM DIDN'T GO AWAY OR CHANGE IN ANY WAY. I BOUGHT NEW TIRES AS THEY RECOMMENDED, PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE BUT NOT SO SEVERE UNTIL AFTER DRIVING A FEW THOUSAND MILES. THE MORE MILES I PUT ON THE TIRES THE WORSE THE VIBRATION GETS. TOOK IT BACK INTO THE DEALER AGAIN RECENTLY, THEY KEEP TELLING ME IT'S STANDARD VIBRATION FOR 22 INCH WHEELS. I KNOW THIS IS BOGUS BECAUSE I KNOW A FEW PEOPLE WITH THE EXACT SAME WHEELS AND TIRES THAT DON'T HAVE THE SHAKING PROBLEM, THEY CAN DRIVE AS FAST AS THEY WANT AND IT'S SMOOTH. EVERYBODY THAT RIDES WITH ME ASKS WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. HOW CAN I CONVINCE THE DEALER THAT THERE IS AN ACTUAL PROBLEM?

I HAD AN ISSUE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE GOT STUCK IN 4HI AND AT THE TIME IT HAD A RECALL SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER LOCATED LESS THAN 20 MILES OF MY HOUSE I NEVER GOT OVER 45 MPH WHILE STUCK IN 4HI DEALER DID RECALL WHICH FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 7 MONTHS THEN WHEN I WAS HAULING A 18 FT CAR HAULER WITH A SMALL TRUCK ON IT AND I ONLY HAD TO HAUL IT 30 MILES TO MY HOUSE I WAS ABOUT A 1/4 MILE FROM MY DRIVEWAY AND THE REAR END POPPED REALLY LOUD 1 TIME AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED GRINDING AND I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND CALLED ROADSIDE AND HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALER THEY SAID THAT THE SPIDER GEARS HAD BROKEN AND IT WAS GOING TO COST 3000 FOR A NEW REAR END DO TO THE CROSS PIN RETAINING BOLT HAD BROKEN INSIDE THE DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY I DECLINE THE SERVICE BECAUSE I DIDN'T SEE WHY I HAD TO PAY IF I STILL HAVE WARRANTY ON IT AND I HAD ANOTHER REAR DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER ASSEMBLY AND HAD IT INSTALLED WHICH IT WORKED FINE EXCEPT THAT THE WHEN THE ORIGINAL REAR END BROKE IT SAID SERVICE 4WD AND IT STILL SAID THAT WHEN I GOT THE REAR END FIXED AND I TOOK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST 130 JUST TO LOOK AT IT AND IF THEY FOUND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT THAT 130 WOULD GO TOWARD REPAIRS AND AS I SAID BEFORE IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND IS ONLY GOT 47000 MILES AND I TOOK IT TO A FRIEND'S SHOP THAT HAS A SNAP ON COMPUTER AND PULLED CODES AND RESEARCHED THE CODES AND WHAT I FOUND WAS THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SHIFT MODULE RE LEARNED OR REPROGRAMMED AND THAT WOULD FIX THE ISSUE WHICH A LOT OF OTHER 2014/15 SILVERADO OWNERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE TRANSFER CASE AND RELEARNING OR REPROGRAMMING FIXED THE ISSUE.

UNDER ACCELERATION AND CRUISING HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE VIBRATES AND SHAKES. IT IS FELT IN THE FLOORBOARDS, SEATS, PEDALS, STEERING WHEEL AND IN THE BED OF THE TRUCK. VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES GETTING ALIGNMENTS, WHEEL BALANCES, AND PICO SCOPE TESTS. UNDER MY OWN INVESTIGATION I FOUND THE FACTORY DRIVESHAFT WAS NOT STRAIGHT, OUT OF ROUND AND OUT OF BALANCE SO I HAD A PROFESSIONAL DRIVELINE SHOP BUILD ME A NEW ONE. ALSO UNDER MY OWN INVESTIGATION I FOUND THE REAR AXEL HUB FLANGES WERE OUT OF ROUND AS WELL AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD REPLACED THEM. VIBRATION STILL EXISTS AND THERE SEEMS TO BE NO ANSWERS COMING FROM GM.

THIS TRUCK HAS THE 6.2 AND 8 SPD TRANS. I START IT UP IN THE GARAGE AND LET IT IDLE DOWN, BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE INTO THE STREET, PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND FEEL IT ENGAGE, PUSH ON THE GAS AND IT DOESN'T MOVE FOR A FEW SECONDS OR NOW IT WILL MOVE BUT THEN WHEN IT TRIES TO DO THE 1-2 SHIFT IT WON'T SHIFT AND THE TRUCK STOPS MOVING FORWARD FOR A FEW SECONDS UNTIL IT FINALLY DOES SHIFT. I HAD IT IN TO THE DEALER AT 13K MILES AND THEY DETERMINED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE STATOR SUPPORT IN THE TRANS ALLOWING THE CONVERTER TO DRAIN SO THEY DID A PARTIAL TRANS REBUILD AND UPDATED THE PARTS. THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM IS SHOWING UP AGAIN ALONG WITH THE 1-2 SHIFT PROBLEM. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AT ABOUT 18K MILES AND THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY COULD REPRODUCE IT AND THE ISSUES IS CAUSED BY THE "CLUTCH" NOT BEING FILLED WITH FLUID AT THE TIME THE SHIFT IS TRYING TO HAPPEN. ONCE THE CLUTCH IS FULL...IT SHIFTS. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THIS IS A DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH GM AND THERE IS A BULLETIN OUT ON IT TELLING DEALERS THIS IS NORMAL AND TO NOT DO ANY REPAIRS TRYING TO FIX SO THEY DID A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND PUT THE TRANS BACK INTO LEARN MODE SAID THEY WERE SORRY AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME. THIS CONDITION IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU EXPECT THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AND IT DOES NOT. THIS TRANSMISSION IS INSTALLED IN CHEVY, GMC, AND CADILLAC TRUCKS AND SUVS AND THERE MANY COMPLAINTS ON ALL OF THE POPULAR MESSAGE BOARDS ONLINE ABOUT THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. SOME PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT ALMOST BEING HIT IN THE REAR BECAUSE THERE VEHICLE WON'T MOVE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH THE 8 SPD TRANS GM HAS BEEN USING IN THEIR TRUCKS AS WELL AND GM WILL NOT ADDRESS ANY OF THEM SAYING THAT THEY ARE ALL NORMAL. SO DUE TO KNOWN ISSUES WITH THE YOLK ON THE DIFFERENTIAL, THE LAG IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT AND ENGINE COMMUNICATION LEADS TO EXTREME VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND CLUNKING AND JERKING WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN. SO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS THERE IS A DELAY IN THE MOTOR RECOGNIZING IT SO IT REVS UP SOME SO WHEN THE TRANSMISSION FINALLY FINDS THE GEAR IT CAUSES IT TO KICK. AND SINCE THE YOLK HAS PLAY IN IT, IT CAUSES THE DIFFERENTIAL TO CLUNK AS THE ROTATION OF THE DRIVESHAFT CATCHES UP AT A QUICKER RATE. WHICH LEADS TO MORE LOOSENESS IN THE YOKE AND CREATES A WOBBLE IN THE DRIVESHAFT. AND AN UNSETTLING SOUND WHILE DRIVING AROUND.

AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS BETWEEN 58 AND 74 MPH, THERE IS A VIBRATION THAT SHAKES THE TRUCK. MY FIRST TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY SAID 3 OF THE 4 TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACE, WHICH WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 3500 MILES, WHEN I TOOK IT THE FIRST TIME. THE PROBLEM WAS STABLE FOR A FEW THOUSAND MILES, AND THEN STARTED TO GET BAD, I CALLED AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT, AND THE TRUCK HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A WEEK NOW, AND THEY HAVE REPLACE THE ONE TIRE THAT WASN'T ORGINALLY REPLACED. THEY ALSO SAID THEY ARE LOOKING AT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM.

MY TRUCK HAD APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES WHEN I PURCHASED IT IN DEC 2014 AND HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP PRETTY MUCH EVER SINCE. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, I FELT A VERY SUBSTANTIAL VIBRATION AROUND 76+ MPH. INITIALLY, 2 TIRES WERE REPLACED AND BALANCED; THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THEN THE DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT GM SAID I HAVE TO PUT 500LBS IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK AND THE VIBRATION WILL STOP; THIS IS NOT EVEN REMOTELY PRACTICAL. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED AND FORCE BALANCED SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE PAST 2 YRS. IN JUNE 2016, THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THE TIRES WERE MOUNTED ON THE RIMS INCORRECTLY AND REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AND BALANCED THEM; THE VIBRATION CONTINUED. AFTER TRYING TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP OVER THE SAME ISSUE, THEY WILL NO LONGER CALL ME BACK. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT AT LEAST 8 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST MONTH TO NO AVAIL. SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE INDICATED THE PROBLEM IS QUITE POSSIBLY THE DRIVE SHAFT B/C THE ENTIRE TRUCK VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THEREFORE, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY TOLD ME I NEED TO ROTATE AND BALANCE THE TIRES. AFTER DISCUSSING THE HISTORY OF THE TRUCK WITH THEM AND REQUESTED THE SERVICE DEPT. CHECK THE DRIVE SHAFT, THEY STATED THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID IT IS NOT THE DRIVE SHAFT (WHICH WAS NOT INSPECTED TO MY KNOWLEDGE) AND TOLD ME THE TIRES NEED TO BE FORCED BALANCED AND THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. THIS DEALERSHIP REFERRED ME TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP FOR ASSISTANCE. I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING THIS ISSUE FOR ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW AND CANNOT GET HELP. FURTHER, NEITHER OF THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE MADE ME AWARE OF THE BULLETIN AND HAVE NOT TRIED ANYTHING PAST THE REPLACING & BALANCING THE TIRES. THE VIBRATION IS SO BAD OTHER THINGS IN MY TRUCK ARE STARTING TO COME LOOSE AND VIBRATE.

TRANSMISSION IS LURCHING IF DRIVING 50 MPH THEN SLOW DOWN TO 35 MPH WHEN YOU GO TO SPEED BACK UP IT LURCHES. COMPLAINED TO CHEVROLET SEVERAL TIMES THEY SAY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.

PURCHASED NEW 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 IN JANUARY OF 2016. EXPERIENCED A VIBRATION AT ALL SPEEDS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF PURCHASE. VIBRATION GETS WORSE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. VEHICLE CAME WITH STEEL WHEELS FROM THE FACTORY. VIBRATION CAN BE FELT IN THE SEAT AND SEEN IN THE CENTER CONSOLE. VIBRATION IS COMING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. REPLACED WHEELS AND TIRES WITH AFTERMARKETS. THE AFTERMARKETS WERE BIGGER AND HEAVIER AND MADE VIBRATION EXTREMELY WORSE. AFTER ASSURING THAT I WASN'T DEALING WITH A PROBLEM WITH THE NEW WHEELS AND TIRES, I PUT THE FACTORIES BACK ON AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR 3 1/2 MONTHS. THE VEHICLE FAILED PICO SCOPE TESTS. THEY PUT SEVERAL NEW TIRES ON THE VEHICLE, CHANGED BOTH REAR AXLES, AND CHANGED RING AND PINION IN REAR END. THESE STEPS HELPED REDUCE THE VIBRATION, BUT DID NOT TOTALLY RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THEY THEN DECIDED TO PUT ALUMINUM WHEELS ON THE TRUCK, WHICH HELPED REDUCE THE VIBRATION DOWN TO BARELY NOTICEABLE. MY CONCERN IS BY PUTTING THE LIGHTER WHEEL ON THE VEHICLE TO REDUCE THE VIBRATION, THEY ARE ONLY MASKING THE PROBLEM, SINCE THE HEAVIER THE WHEEL/TIRE ASSEMBLY, THE WORSE THE VIBRATION. THEY ARE TELLING ME THEY DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE TO THE VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS TOLD ME THEY ARE NOT GOING TO PURSUE THE ISSUE ANY FURTHER. THEY TELL ME THEY KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE BUT NOT SURE WHAT IT IS AND SINCE IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THEY HAVE HONORED THE WARRANTY. HOW DO THEY KNOW THAT IT'S NOT A SAFETY ISSUE IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I BELIEVE THEY KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND THEY ARE PASSING IT ON TO THE CONSUMER. THERE WAS NO DISCLOSURE OF THE ISSUES WITH THESE TRUCKS UPON PURCHASE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS TRUCK AND FEAR FUTURE PROBLEMS WITH THE ISSUE. ALSO, THE TRUCK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS HAS DOWN SHIFTED ABNORMALLY CAUSING RPMS TO RISE.

ON SEPT 21 2016 I ARRIVED AT MY HOME. I DROVE UP MY GRAVEL DRIVEWAY IN D(DRIVE) AND SLOWED TO A STOP AND MY TRUCK BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARD UNDER MY CONTROL. I WAS CHECKING ON THE GROUND FOR LAWN DAMAGE. THE TRUCK SHUTTERED TWICE, SHUT OFF AND STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARD TOWARD A TREE. I QUICKLY REGAINED CONTROL WITH A PANIC STOP. I WAS ABLE TO PLACE THE TRUCK IN PARK AND RESTART THE TRUCK. I HAD LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK.

I PARK IN A 5 LEVEL PARKING GARAGE. SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, I WAS LEAVING WHEN I CAME UP TO THE RAMP TO THE NEXT LOWER LEVEL. I LET OFF ON THE ACCELERATOR BEFORE I WENT FROM FLAT TO LOWERING RAMP. THE TRUCK SHIFTED UP TO SECOND GEAR, ACCELERATED AND THROUGH ME TOWARD THE VEHICLE IN FRONT. THE TRUCK WENT OUT OF MY CONTROL. IF I WERE NOT A SAFE DRIVER I WOULD HAVE STRUCK THE VEHICLE. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED ANOTHER TIME AS WELL. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER PROBLEMS WHICH ARE NUMEROUS. I WILL ADDRESS THEM INDIVIDUAL IN FURTHER COMPLAINTS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED IN EXCESS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS, PART OF THE TRANSMISSION, AND MULTIPLE OTHER PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED, "HAUL GEARS" DISPLAYED ON THE MESSAGE BOARD AS THE VEHICLE SWITCHED INTO A LOW GEAR INDEPENDENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT SPEEDS STARTING AT AND ABOVE 70 MPH THERE IS AN AUDIBLE NOISE NOT PRESENT AT ANY OTHER TIME OR CIRCUMSTANCE. THIS IS ALSO FELT THRU THE GAS PETAL SO MY CONCERN IS THAT THERE COULD POSSIBLY BE A DEFECT OR OUT-OF-BALANCE COMPONENT. I DEMONSTRATED THIS CONDITION WITH THE DEALER'S TECHNICIAN ON THIS AND ANOTHER IDENTICAL 1500 AND IT HAD THE SAME ISSUE. DISCUSSING THIS WITH ANOTHER 2015 SILVERADO 1500 OWNER FOUND THAT THEIR VEHICLE ALSO HAS THE SAME CONDITION. IN FACT THEIR VEHICLE WHEN OPERATED AT SPEEDS ABOVE 70 MPH VIBRATES SO NOTICEABLY THAT THE CUP HOLDERS SPILL THE CONTENTS.

MY SILVERADO HAS DEVELOPED A VIBRATION AROUND 4-5000 MILES FROM NEW. THE VIBRATION STARTS AROUND 60MPH AND INCREASES IN INTENSITY UP TO AND BEYOND 80MPH, THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT IN TEXAS. THE VIBRATION CAN BE FELT THROUGHOUT THE CABIN IN THE SEATS, CENTER CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, DOORS AND GAS PEDAL. ON MY LAST 3+ HOUR DRIVE I HAD TO STOP MIDWAY BECAUSE THE VIBRATIONS GAVE ME A HEADACHE. THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE EVER. AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALER AND MULTIPLE ROAD FORCE BALANCE AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS LATER THE DEALER STATES THE TRUCK IS OPERATING NORMAL AND IS IN SPEC. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND I'M WORKING ON TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH GM TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM.
