I have had a problem with the theft deterrent system which, shuts the truck down and issues a message saying "turn the driver side window down and then up". After 5 minutes the truck starts back up by itself? This has occurred sitting in Popeyes drive thru line in August 2024 in Benton Harbor, Mi. This has occurred 3 times in the past week, 09/25/25 driving on Garrett road it shut down during the entry into a "s curve" 09/26/25 driving into my drive way 09/28/25 driving into my drive way Took the truck into Wimberley Chevy dealer and they searched for error codes and checked some of the ground wires not connected properly and found the negative cable on battery was ok. I don't know if any other wire connectors were checked, however I have had this before and the dealer said they would have to keep the truck as it may take quite some time in confirming all connections were good. the service manage of LeValley Cheverolet stated that they would require a $1,000 deposit for them to start looking into the problem and again require another $1,000 deposit to continue and then another etc. I will not drive my truck on any major highway or in any very busy large city for fear of having a return of another shutdown and no place to pull into as I was only coasting when I entered the "S curves" and had space.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road and allowed the engine to cool down. The contact stated that upon restarting the vehicle, the vehicle responded as needed. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring mainly in hot weather. Additionally, the contact stated that if the vehicle was not pulled over to the side of the road until the vehicle cooled down, the vehicle gradually lost motive power. I was driving and when I came to a stop light the power steering stop working and I had to go because the light turn green so I had to steer very hard and pull over to the side. It was very dangerous and I can’t believe this happened. The warning light came on as well and it says service power steering drive with care.

I bought the truck around [XXX] from Barkau CDJR, Freeport IL. Two hours away from the dealer the truck went completely dead in traffic. A message appeared on the info screen that said roll down the drivers window and back up to reset the system when the truck finally restarted. Got home with it and called the dealer and let the know. In the next few weeks it happened a couple of more times. It was taken to Tapper Chevrolet in Paw Paw, MI to be serviced. The tech thought it was a problem in the fuse Block and replaced that, after that on the week end the truck was returned the problem happened 3 times. Took it back to Tapper's and they checked it again, had it for 4 days and could not replicate the problem. Kept having issues and took it to 1st Choice Automotive LLC in Dowagiac, MI, he went through the wiring and cleaned some grounds and it seemed to work for a while. Now it is doing the same thing again. It just shuts down randomly for no reason. You lose steering, brakes, you have no control when it happens and no warning when it is going to happen. Three or four instances of loss of power steering while making a right hand turn. Power steering failed momentarily except for the last time, steering failed completely while turning into a parking lot and I ended up in the snowbank. All electrical to the vehicle shut off to the vehicle and could not be restored until a new battery was installed. The new battery was completely discharged overnight. Possible related incidents are that several times I have had a message that the security system has been compromised, and I have been locked out of my vehicle spontaneously. I found that there is a recall for this year and model for this issue, but my VIN does not connect to any recall issued. I am afraid to drive this vehicle until this is corrected.

The vehicle lost power steering and being an electronic system, there is nowhere to add fluid to the system. There was a recall for this issue from 2018 to 2019 and the repair service was performed on this vehicle. I now have to pay for the repairs that were once covered under a recall for a known issue.

#1- I had my truck in a few years ago for a brake issues that they said was a computer reprogramming issue and vacuum pump. They repaired and the issue slowly came back. Now it feels as if there is little to no assist with braking and stopping distance is growing. I feel like my family is at risk if there were ever to be a time I need to brake hard or fast. Theire are no warning lamps but obvious excessive braking effort and can feel the brake rotors through the pedal. #2- Intermittently, at low speeds, pulling into parking lots and parking spaces while turning the steering wheel, electrical power cuts out, steering wheel jerks out of hand, and a dash light comes on saying "service stabilitrack". This is a huge safety issue that could certainly cause an accident. I have Googled this very common issue with my year Chevy Silverado and personally checked the grounds on the left and right under the front dash panel by each speaker and found them to be clean and tight. This leads me to believe it is something else and electrical and a huge safety problem. Only issue is that it is very random and hard to replicate. Seems to happen on hot days when I've been driving a lot. I just got off the phone with the local dealership and they are saying there are no other recalls aside from the current one for air bag issues which I just scheduled. But these other issues I feel are definitely safety manufacturer defects/issues especially being that it has been in for the brake issue once already and the steering/electrical issue is such a common thing when searching the internet.

Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V719000 (Steering) which he linked to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the electronic power assist and rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not under recall. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.

A warning about my power steering popped up. My power steering is completely out. I had to drive it to the dealership to be worked on. The dealership has it in the shop. It's been there for two months, they cannot find the part. GMC/Chevy offered some money to help cover me since I cannot drive it, but that's when Gerald Jones GMC Aiken, SC deemed it operable. I told Chevy/GMC I would ask what the NHTSA said about that. I asked GMC the definition of operable. I don't have a definition yet. My belief is that my truck is not operable due to a safety issue (power steering) being out. Thank you for always protecting the consumer and protecting us. [XXX]. My 2015 silverado with the 5.3 randomly just shuts off. When slowing down and at 10 to 20 mph, the Instrument panel goes dark, the engine shuts off, no power steering or brakes and almost crashed into someone. I turn the key it starts back up, but have to reset time and date and lose radio channels. Once a message about stabilitrac flashed after starting back up. Truck can be for Inspection. This problem happened 4 times in one morning it is being looked at now on [XXX]. There hasn't been any warnings. It just shuts down. While driving on the highway, I came to stop in traffic. Power shut off in truck. I had AC on and radio on and everything turned off.Dashboard went blank as well. Power restored and service stabiltrack notification came on. This happened multiple times while on road. Got off as soon as possible and took to dealership. Dealership has yet to get back to us. I believe this is related to the two recalls that I had completed. At no point should I lose power in the vehicle and not be able to control the car. This could have been a tragedy if driving at full speed and for vehicle to shut down.

The contact's husband was able to veer to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that her husband turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle responded as needed. The contact's husband was able to continue driving. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring increasingly and was persistent after restarting the vehicle. An alarm sounded. The contact stated that while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated to respond, and then jolted suddenly. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the failure could be related to NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 18V586000 (Steering) and 19V761000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Service Brakes, Electronic Stability Control); however, additional diagnostics tests were being performed. The component or system is the Electronic Power Steering System and my vehicle is available for inspection at any time needed. Although this started last week and is happening randomly it has happened three times all in the last week. While making a turn I lose all power steering, in fact all power and have to try to maneuver the truck safely. This is the same issue that GM issued a recall for GM recall 18289. NHTSA Campaign # 18V586. This problem is very dangerous and I almost collided head on due to this problem when leaving work and in a turning zone. The first time it happened my mom said it jerked the steering wheel. lost all power and she had to manhandle it to keep from hitting a child that was walking across the parking lot at a Dollar General store. I need to see about getting my truck fixed for this recall before someone is killed. My VIN may not be listed on the recall but the exact same thing is happening and I sure would hate to see someone killed before this is fixed. Mighty strange that my VIN is not listed but same exact thing is happening with the electronic power steering (EPS). I am asking for your help in guiding me to getting this fixed. Two other known issues with this vehicle have also happened. One was valve collapsed and I was able to get that fixed under warranty cause I only had the truck for a short time. I've spoken with dealership and they say vehicle charge to look at the vehicle would be $159.95 and that will be applied to repair cost but mechanics would have to determine if my issue is considered under the recall. I can almost surely guess what that answer will be. Please assist me in the direction I need to go to get this fixed.

2015 CHEVY Silverado rack and pinion steering went only after 34,000. There are 900 cars recalled. My vin was not mentioned but the something happen to me, No warning. I did my research and 2014,2015,2016 all effected. It's something to do with the module. I have two small children do you know how frightening this is. How could this me the company said my car is not affected by the vin. but it is. They are not owning up to the situation. Can you help me please?

2015 Chevy Silverado, 62,300 miles. While driving at highway speeds. The air condition compessor locked up. Causing the engine to die and causing the loss of power steering and power brakes. I was unable to brake in a timely manner and had to swerve to avoid stopped traffic. It seems there are thousands complaining of the same issue online. There was no warning. I have contacted the dealer and they say there is no recall.

When going at low speed, power braking fails, and I have almost crashed my truck several times. Also - when going at low speeds, my electronic power steering fails - it's difficult to turn and the steering wheel "kicks back" in my hands. Extremely difficult to turn. I'm very concerned that these two things will lead to a crash/accident. Please help! The approximate date listed is the last time these two issues occurred - but it occurs almost every time I drive the vehicle.

The contact stated that the stability tract control warning light and the 4-wheel drive warning light illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wiring harness lid needed to be cleaned and the dialectic grease needed to be applied inside the connectors. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred while driving. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.

While slowing down to make a right turn the engine stalled and the electrical power was lost rendering the power steering inoperable. The loss of power steering created a dangerous situation where I almost hit a tree. Also there has been several occasions while driving on the freeway the electrical power stalled. Thankfully it was only for less than two seconds, but I can't imagine what would have happened on a busy freeway had it not been only a temporary loss of power. I read online that these problems are not uncommon. I have taken the truck to a Chevy dealer where they replaced battery cables they said had some resistance in them. It's been a month since the repair ($1300 later) was made and have not experienced any problem since. After experiencing these "power failers", there would be a message on the dash that would state "OPEN THEN CLOSE DRIVER WINDOW'

Originally had a recall for the power steering and my truck went to get that recall done and not even 2 months later the same exact thing happened. Lower steering went out. I’ve already put in a complaint a while back when it happened but never heard anything so im putting in another one until i hear something to get ot fixed/reimbursed

I purchased the silverado 2014 in July 2018 dealer ship in Orangeburge SC. 3 months after driveing the truck i pulled to stop sign when pulled off the stearing wheel went left and my intentions was to go straight my luck was on my side that day. I finally fought the steering back straight and pulled over turned truck off then started back up and no probloms until later on started getting codes on the dash so i took to dealer ship closet one near me , they reboted the ECM and i told the service manger at that time i open the hood and showed him the wire that sometimes i go to start truck all it would do make a cliking noise open hood shake the big cable coming from the battery then truck would start, finaly summer arrives i start useing my air condition it finally went out took back too dealer they say needed new compressor i had warranty at the time replaced compressor after 2 week no A/C back 2nd time a/c issues they put die in compressor no leaks drive another 2 weeks same no a/c tack back to dealer then they tell me my waranty has run out and appears you have condinsor leaking refrigerant they wanted me to pay for i finally agreed to pay half and dealer pay half . Going back to about the second time i took the truck to the dealer when it was under warranty showed service manager cable that would cause truck not start until wiggled the wire. He told me that if that problom would have to change the ECM he said would cost alot of money when come 3rd time they refered to a dealership in Rockinham nc. so they could do a electrical codes diagnostic after my warranty had out when i asked why dont yall have the machine hear after you seen me at dealership 7 times after took truck ROCKINGJAM NC. DEALER checked codes erased few and few weeks later get into crash going arond a suv and cotton picker after starting go around suv turns left i tryed to turn steering wheel back over to my drive lane i had no stearing crashed into suv both total loss.

For no reason at approximately 57,000 miles vehicle developed a strong intermittent shudder at at low RPMs on highway alignment seems has not corrected issue and vehicle has always had a concerning vibration I have been told is "normal" vehicle is on its second transmission and torque converter and the warranty just ran out and it seems like it wants to fall apart these issues have been ongoing and don't seem to be resolved by dealer

I estimate this has happened over 10 times. I lose all electrical power to the vehicle and the car shuts off, often this is preceded by loss of power steering and low speed. The last time this happened when pulling out into traffic; the steering kicked back, the truck lost all electrical power, dash went blank, radio dark, including loss of head lights, I will reiterate that this happened while pulling into traffic. This truck cost me over $40k new and I believe Chevy is aware of the problem, then simply don't want to cover the cost of parts and labor to fix. The dealership told me they had no idea what the issue could be, then I found several GM documents online. It appears this is a known issue, and they even list 2015 Silverado on documents. for months i have been experiencing small issues at first, turn signal quit making noise, and then the radio quit working, this issue would only be corrected by turning off the vehicle, and restarting it, now the problem has gotten worse, tpms lights up on the dashboard the stabillitrack icon appears, and vehicle appears to stall momentarily and the radio goes blank, the most dangerous part is the electric steering wheel locks up, i have read several complaints online about this issue, and find no solution has ever been recorded, so far i have experiment this issue at low speeds and it is a interment problem that randomly happens

The 2015 Chevy Silverado has a very common problem, which I am shocked has not been put under a nation wide recall. A manufacturing issue of placing the negative battery cable in the wrong spot, causes the dash, power steering, stability tracking and air conditioning to shut off completely. When braking, the dash shuts off and the steering wheel locks, which has sent me into oncoming traffic. My brother had the exact same year make and model of truck and had the same exact issue. When his needed to be fixed, he was told the same thing from the dealership. “The negative battery cable should have never been in placed in that position, but relocating it will fix the problem. Only, after replacing the battery it burned out as well. Here is the text I received from the dealership today. “Hey Brian, this is Matt @ Ken Garff Chevrolet, we have tracked the problem down on the truck to the negative battery cable. It has high resistance causing the electrical issues. Estimate for repairs $492 before tax. Reply STOP to OptOut.” It’s a very good thing they diagnosed the issue, since I told them what it was when I walked in their shop. I told them verbatim what they sent back to me. There are literally thousands of complaints online with the same issue. How does a manufacturing fault, that is most definitely a safety issue, become the consumers expense. This problem is much worse, and more dangerous than the recalls that are currently on the vehicle. How many accidents and how much consumer money needs to be spent, before a recall is placed on such a common manufacturing issue. Please let me know what needs to be done to get this taken care of, so more people aren’t in danger, or screwed into paying to fix a blatant error by the manufacturer.

My truck shakes frequently going down the road at certain speeds. I've had it for around 6 years now and I can't pinpoint exactly when it started. I've had the truck in for maintenance/service at the dealership as well as other auto shops trying to diagnose the problem. I've had new tries, new brakes, countless tire rotations, wheel balancing etc you name it. And the problem persists. Recently after hearing about the "Chevy Shake" I've come to realize that my problems are just like what others have too. Now my powertrain has given out. And my extended warranty has ended. I truly believe that the issues have caused, or are caused by this prevailing issue of a wobbling drive shaft. Every time I have had it in for repairs the issue still persists and I can't always get the time to go back and have it looked at it again. It is a safety issue above all else and I truly believe GM knows about it but does nothing. Even more to the point, I had a "transmission fluid flush" just under a month ago and now all of a sudden my truck doesn't shift like it should. They say it will cost over 5 thousand dollars to get repaired. There is something seriously wrong here. This is an ongoing issue, and again it is difficult to say when it started. But a vehicle going down the highway at speed limit and shaking is a safety concern.

WHEN MY TRUCK WAS UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY IT HAD A RATCHETING CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM THE RACK AND PINION. THE TRUCK HAD 89000 ON IT AND I CALLED CHEVROLET FILED A COMPLAINT. I WAS DRIVING LAST SUMMER AND I LOST MY STEERING GOING DOWN THE ROAD THEN I GOT IT BACK. THEN I TOOK IT IN FOR THE SOFTWARE UPDATE RECALL. THE CHEVROLET GARAGE TOLD ME THAT THE RACK AND PINION IS NOT COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. NOW THE TRUCK HAS 109000 AND THE RACK IS BINDING WORSE. I DID MY RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THEIR IS ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I'M HAVING. THESE RACKS NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT.

RESTARTED VEHICLE AND DASH "SERVICE" INDICATOR FLASHED ON BUT POWER STEERING WORKED FOR 2 CORNERS (200 YARDS) WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND FAILED WITH SAME SERVICE WARNING. LIMPED TRUCK WITH NO POWER STEERING TO DEALER ABOUT 3 MILES. NO NOTICEABLE AFFECT TO ACCELERATOR OR OTHER ELECTRONICS IN THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS 39,400 MILES ON IT.

I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE FOR THESE YEAR MODEL TRUCKS AND MY TRUCK ONLY HAD APPROXIMATELY 40,000 MILES. THIS PART SEEMS TO HAVE A HIGH FAILURE RATE AND IS RELATIVELY EXPENSIVE ESPECIALLY IF IT FAILS MULTIPLE TIMES WHICH I HAVE READ HAPPENS.

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED BUT THE FIRST TIME TO THIS EXTREME THAT IS WHY WE HAD TOOK OUR TRUCK TO VANDERGRIFF CHEVROLET IN ARLINGTON TX ON 2/16/19 WERE THEY TOOK CARE OF THE OPEN RECALL AND DID A SOFTWARE RESET FOR LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST C18289 AND POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE BUT EVEN AFTER SOFTWARE RESET I'M STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE I'M TAKING MY VEHICLE IN AGAIN TO BE SERVICED AS I FIND THIS LOSS OF STEERING VERY DANGEROUS THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS ON THAT SIDE WALK THAT COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. AS MY WIFE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AT A STOPLIGHT AND AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, SHE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT ACCERLATE. SHE PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD AND STILL WOULD NOT ACCERLATE. SO DUE TO THIS THE TRUCK SLOWLY ROLLED FOWARD. SHE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKES WOULD NOT MOVE. LIKE IF THEY BECAME LOCKED AND WOULDN'T MOVE AN INCH. AT THIS POINT SHE IS TRYING TO GET OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER, TO AVOID ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THEN SHE FINDS THAT THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO LOCKED AND CAN NOT BE TURNED. IT'S TAKING HER MAXIMUM EFFORT TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM ROLLING FORWARD AND TO VEER OFF THE ROAD TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES. SHE IS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AFTER ABOUT 100 YARDS OF EFFORT AND WAITS ABOUT 10 MINUTES, BEFORE THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD FREE UP. NO ERROR MESSAGE WAS PRESENT THE ENTIRE TIME THESE FUNCTIONS WERE DISABLED AND AFTER THEY FREED UP, IT WAS LIKE IF NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS EVER BEEN ON THIS VEHICLE. STRONG BELIEF THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL.

I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE FROM AFTER IT SHOWED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE SIGNS OF THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) RECALL AFFECTING IT. THE DEALERSHIP APPLIED THE FIX THAT GM HAD AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. THE VERY NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED WHAT I BELIEVED TO BE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM ACTING UP AGAIN. THIS TIME I WAS TRAVELING AT 55 M.P.H. ON THE HIGHWAY BEGINNING THE INTERCHANGE TO ANOTHER HIGHWAY AND COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS. THE LOSS OF STEERING WAS ALMOST AS SOON AS I STARTED THE TURN AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO GO OFF OF THE HIGHWAY. THEN FOR THE NEXT 5-7 SECONDS I WAS ABLE TO MANUALLY TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING TURNED BACK ON AND, BECAUSE OF HOW HARD I WAS TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL, I ALMOST ENDED UP IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT WHERE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS. I HAD NO PRIOR ISSUES LIKE THIS UNTIL THE RECALL WAS WORKED AT THE DEALERSHIP. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE TRUCK WAS ACTING WEIRD, AND AT A STOP THE TRUCK FELT AS IF IT WAS STRUGGLING TO STAY RUNNING. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND AGREED TO HAVE IT TOWED BACK TO THEM TWO DAYS LATER. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME IT IS DUE TO BAD BATTERY CABLES AND THAT CAUSED POWER LOSS DURING THE TURN. THEY SPENT HOURS SCANNING THE SYSTEM TO FIND THAT THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED, WHICH THEY CLAIM THEY COULD NOT FIND, BUT THERE WAS A WARNING LIGHT THAT SHOWED ON THE DASH NOTIFYING ME THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT AND TO DRIVE WITH CARE, SO I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THEY DID NOT FIND IT DURING THEIR SCAN. THEY THEN TELL ME THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN, THAT CAME OUT A MONTH AFTER THE EPS RECALL DID, AND IT WILL BE AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE. I CANNOT STOP THINKING THAT THIS ISSUE IS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE EPS SOFTWARE FIX AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED TO THE RECALL TO REPLACE THE BATTERY CABLES.

I DID SOME ONLINE SEARCHING AND FOUND THERE WAS A RECALL BUT THE SYMPTOMS WERE LOSS AND IMMEDIATE RETURN OF POWER STEERING BUT THOUGHT MAYBE MINE WAS ALSO ASSOCIATED. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO LYNN SMITH CHEVROLET IN BURLESON TX AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE WAS BAD AND THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHICH IS $3,000 OUT OF MY POCKET. MY TRUCK IS A 2015 WITH 53,XXX MILES IT HAD NEVER ACTED STRANGE OR GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL THAT ONE INCIDENT. MY TRUCK WAS RECALLED I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MY DEALER ABOUT THE RECALL. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO DECATUR JAMES WOODS CHEVROLET WHICH PERFORMED A RECALL ON THE EPS MODULE FOR A STEERING RECALL. NOTE PRIOR TO ME TAKING MY VEHICLE IN I HAD NO PROBLEMS OR ISSUES. I TAKE MY TRUCK IN FOR DOCUMENTED OIL CHANGES AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. ONCE THEY DID THE RECALL FLASH UPDATE REPROGRAMMING I PICKED UP MY TRUCK AND ON THE WAY HOME THE DASH LIGHTS BLINKED OFF THE STABILITRAC ERROR AND TOW HAUL ERROR BOTH CAME UP. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPT IMMEDIATELY ON THE WAY USING HANDS FREE SYSTEM AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THE RECALL COULDN'T CAUSE THAT. ON THE ROAD TO MY HOUSE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS LIGHT SPRAIN TO MY WRIST AND ALMOST TOOK ME OFF THE ROAD AS THE BRAKES ALSO FAILED TO WORK VERY WELL. THE TRUCK DIED TO A STOP. WHEN I GOT TO JERRY'S THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T TOUCH IT AND TAKE THE LIABILITY AND TO TAKE IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY HAD MESSED SOMETHING UP. NEXT MORNING TO TO LOCAL MECHANIC WE HAVE USED THEY PUT COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC ON IT AND SHOWED ALL KINDS OF ERRORS AS WE TEST DROVE WHILE HOOKED UP. HE SAID THE RECALL PROGRAM HAS EVIDENTLY CAUSED COMMUNICATION ISSUES TO OTHER MODULES AND CAN TEAR UP THE TRUCK. I TOOK IT BACK TO DECATUR THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT AND TO COME BACK THE NEXT DAY. I DROPPED IT OFF TRUCK STILL HAVING ISSUES AND RUNNING AND SOUNDING WORSE AND LOSING POWER AND VOLTAGE GAUGE DROPPING AND GOING BACK TO NORMAL. I'VE FOUND HUNDREDS OF STORIES AND VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET VERY SIMILAR TO MINE FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. I HAVE AN EARLY MODEL 2015 SILVERADO WHICH I LEARNED HAS THE SAME RACK AND PINION AS THE 2014'S. I ASKED THE DEALER IF THE RECALL COULD BE EFFECTING MY TRUCK AS WELL. I WAS TOLD THEY WERE UNSURE AND IT WAS POSSIBLE, HOWEVER THEY STILL REFUSED TO REPLACE THE RACK UNDER WARRANTY. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS AS A RESULT OF MY TRUCK HAVING A LEVELING KIT. WHEN TURNING STEERING WHEEL I HEAR A CLUNKING/GRINDING NOISE. ON 7/07/2017 I BROUGHT IT IN TO MICHAELS CHEVROLET LOCATED IN FRESNO, CA REGARDING THE ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THE ISSUE WAS A RESULT OF A BAD RACK AND PINION. THEY REPLACED THE RACK UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THREE WEEKS LATER I'M HAVING THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM SO OBVIOUSLY THIS NEW ONE IS BAD AS WELL. THE CLUNKING/GRINDING NOISE IS MORE PRONOUNCED WHEN STATIONARY AND TURNING WHEEL RIGHT AND LEFT AND WHILE BACKING. YOU DON'T REALLY HEAR IT MUCH WHILE DRIVING.

I'M HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CHEVY SILVERADO DYING OUT WHILE DRIVING WHEN I'M MAKING TURNS THAT WILL CAUSE THE TRUCK TO HAVE ERROR MESSAGES POPPING UP WITH REGARDS TO THE STABLE TRAC SENSOR, THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON, THE RADIO GOING IN AND OUT, AND THE AC GOING OUT/COMING BACK ON. WHILE BACKING UP THE TRUCK IS LOCKING UP ON ME, AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS JERKING OUT OF MY HANDS, WHICH WILL DYE OUT AS WELL. WHEN I GO TO START IT BACK UP THE TRUCK THEN GIVES ME AN ERROR MESSAGE OF ROLL DOWN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW THAT YOU HAVE TO DO IN ORDER TO CLEAR IT OUT. I'VE CURRENTLY HAD THIS AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP THE PAST 6 MONTHS WITHOUT THEM BEING ABLE TO FIX THIS NUMEROUS TIMES.

VERY LOW SPEED IMPACT CAUSED TOTAL STEERING LOSS. TURNING RIGHT ONTO A STREET, IMPACTING A STATIONARY VEHICLE LOCATED THE PASSENGER SIDE. SPEED OF IMPACT WAS VERY LOW, BUT CAUSED STEERING LOSS. REPAIR ESTIMATE SHOWS FAILURE OF THE GEAR ASSY, STEERING. I HAVE A POLICE REPORT AND INSURANCE ESTIMATE FROM CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND WILL PROVIDE THEM UPON REQUEST, BUT DO NOT WISH TO MAKE THEM PUBLIC.

IT BEGAN WITH THE HEADLIGHTS/PARKING LIGHTS FLICKERING FOR A FEW WEEKS. LATER THE TRUCK BEGAN TO GIVE ERROR MESSAGES ABOUT STABILITY CONTROL, TRAILER BRAKE CONTROL, AND OTHERS. FINALLY IT VIOLENTLY JERKED THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF MY HANDS ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS (TRUCK HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING). THIS HAPPENED AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN VARIOUS TURNS BUT I AM CONCERNED IT COULD HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHICH WOULD CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH AND/OR DEATH. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY MEMBERS ON BOARD.

SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING VIBRATION IN STEERING AND CAB OF TRUCK. BEEN IN THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. REPAIRS INCLUDED 14 SET OF TIRES , BALANCE DRIVE SHAFT, REPLACED RING AND PINION IN DIFFERENTIAL, INSTALLED HYDRAULIC BUSHINGS IN STEERING RACK . THE TRUCK STILL VIBRATES. THIS IS A CONCERN IN SAFETY IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS HOW CAN YOU SAY ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. VERY DISPLEASED WITH GENERAL MOTORS . THERE IS ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND SHOULD BE LOOKED AT MORE CAREFULLY

THIS WEEKEND MY TRUCK STARTED ACTING WEIRD. ON SATURDAY THERE IS A VERY INTERMITTENT ZAP OR CLICK NOISE THAT WOULD COME THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. ALMOST LIKE THERE IS A SHORT SOMEWHERE. WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I AM TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL TRIES TO PULL BACK MIDLINE FOR ABOUT A SECOND OR TWO THEN GOES BACK TO WHERE IT WAS PREVIOUSLY TURNED TO. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK UP ON SUNDAY I HAD TO RE-ENTER THE TIME IN THE RADIO BUT ALL STATIONS WERE STILL PROGRAMED INTO IT. I NOTICED WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AND IT MAKES THAT NOISE THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER A LITTLE BIT. ON THE WAY INTO WORK THIS MORNING THAT NOISE WAS NOT THERE BUT DURING A TURN ON THE INTERSTATE THE STEERING WHEEL TRIED THREE OR FOUR TIMES TO RETURN TO MIDLINE DURING THE TURN. IT HAPPENS SO FAST THAT IS IS FINISHED JUST ABOUT THE TIME YOU CAN REACT TO IT.

TRUCK BEGAN TO HAVE THE CHEVY SHAKES ABOUT THE 12K MILE POINT AND HAS INCREASINGLY GOTTEN WORSE THE MORE MILEAGE THE TRUCK GAINS ( CURRENTLY 14K MILES) I HAVE CALLED AND TALKED TO TECHNICIANS ABOUT THIS AND THEY ENSURED ME THAT ITS NORMAL. I'VE OWNED SEVERAL TRUCKS AND I HAVE NEVER NOT BEEN ABLE TO GO OVER SPEEDS OF 55 WITHOUT HAVING TERRIBLE SHAKES AND WOBBLES IN MY TRUCK. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROPERLY AND FIX THE ISSUE OR BUY BACK THE TRUCKS THAT ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE, WHEN A PERSON SPENDS 50K + ON A VEHICLE THIS SHOULD BE THE LAST THING THE SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IS FEELING SAFE IN THEIR VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ACTIVATE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING ELECTRICAL MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONSIDERED AN ELEMENTAL FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

I BOUGHT THE CAR THREE DAYS EARLIER. THE VEHICLE HAS 4800 MILES ON IT. IT IS A CERTIFIED USED TRUCK. I WAS DRIVING ON A CURVY ROAD ON THE SIDE OF A SMALL MOUNTAIN. WHILE DRIVING, I NOTICED THE STEERING GETTING A LITTLE PLAY IN IT, NOT MUCH EVER SO SLIGHT. WHEN I GOT TO THE 90 DEGREE LEFT TURN, ONTO ANOTHER ROAD, I FOUND I HAD LOST THE ABILITY TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE TRUCK STARTED TOWARD THE TREES. I HIT THE BRAKES AND GAVE IT ALL I HAD, MUSCLE WISE, IN ORDER TO MAKE THE TURN. I PULLED OVER AND REGAINED MY COM-POSHER. I DID NOTICE THERE WAS A MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING AND TO BE CAREFUL DRIVING, I DID NOT NOTICE THAT MESSAGE BEFORE THE INCIDENT. I THEN PROCEEDED TO DRIVE TO TO THE DEALERSHIP VERY SLOWLY WITH THE FLASHERS ON. I ONLY HAD TO MAKE FIVE TURNS AND EIGHT MILES TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE STEERING WAS MAKING ALL KINDS OF NOISES AND JERKY MOTIONS. THERE WAS NO INJURIES OR DAMAGE DONE TO THE VEHICLE DURING THIS INCIDENT. I JUST WONDER WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPEN IF MY WIFE OR ONE OF MY DAUGHTERS WERE DRIVING.

MY SILVERADO HAS DEVELOPED A VIBRATION AROUND 4-5000 MILES FROM NEW. THE VIBRATION STARTS AROUND 60MPH AND INCREASES IN INTENSITY UP TO AND BEYOND 80MPH, THE LEGAL SPEED LIMIT IN TEXAS. THE VIBRATION CAN BE FELT THROUGHOUT THE CABIN IN THE SEATS, CENTER CONSOLE, STEERING WHEEL, DOORS AND GAS PEDAL. ON MY LAST 3+ HOUR DRIVE I HAD TO STOP MIDWAY BECAUSE THE VIBRATIONS GAVE ME A HEADACHE. THAT'S NEVER HAPPENED IN ANY OTHER VEHICLE EVER. AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALER AND MULTIPLE ROAD FORCE BALANCE AND TIRE REPLACEMENTS LATER THE DEALER STATES THE TRUCK IS OPERATING NORMAL AND IS IN SPEC. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND I'M WORKING ON TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH GM TO DEAL WITH THE PROBLEM.
