Was a light frost on mirror and back glass. Turned on rear defroster then all of a sudden back passengers side glass shattered.

Wheel will lock up randomly on slow turns like an intersection, parking lot or anything. It’s very random and there’s no reason why it does it. The truck drives fine most of the time. It will say stabitrack service on my dash then it will go away my wheel locks up so I can’t turn it anymore then it will release like 10 seconds after. I nearly been in two accidents from this. The dealership can’t find out what’s wrong with the truck and I don’t feel comfortable knowing it’s not fix.

We have replaced the engine twice and the transmission once spending 18,000 dollars on a truck that was 54,000 plus dollars that we bought in 2019 and we still owe over 5 grand on currently. Currently now were having a stablittrack malfunction weve been told by numerous mechanics how awful this year for yjis particular vehicle is because its the first year GM decided to put in a smart engine .we definitely regret ever buying this GM product 🙄we truly need help with the repairs for tnis truck ! Its stranded us numerous times even shutting off trying to go thru a red light !

Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the Service Stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in an accident this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. I was at a stop sign waiting to turn left having to cross 2 lanes of on coming traffic and when I accelerated the trucks electrical cut out and forced the steering wheel to go straight I gave it more gas and the truck turned back on. On another day I pulled up and put it in reverse turned right and the truck shut off I had to put it in park and restarted it to back in my driveway. GM need to fix this.

Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the Service Stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened twice at highway speed (65mph) and several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in 2 accidents this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. Also the MyLink infotainment system screen has gone completely blank while driving. Although functioning, the displays comes on and off. This has happened off and on for 3 months.

At low speeds and turning right or left the steering wheel locks up if wheel is turned quickly and engine quits momentarily, power is lost to instruments and radio, etc. or in one case the vehicle has shut off completely. I saw that there was a recall for this on earlier models but not for my VIN (2016 Silverado 1500)

I have a 2016 Silverado 1500 I bought new. It only has 33000 miles on it. Last week I was backing my boat into the shop and the steering wheel jerked back and forth on its own pretty violently and a stabilitrac warning popped up and the radio screen kinda went dead for a second. Then last night I was pulling in a parking space at a restaurant and it did it again. This time it jerked and went dead enough to cut the truck completely off. I had to put it in park and crank the truck again. It actually reset the radios time and date.

2016 Silverado with 5.3L and 8L90 transmission. Experienced a P0711-Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit code and a P0700-Transmission Control System Malfunction. The P0711 code has periodically come up multiple times in the past, but would clear itself before could make to a dealership to troubleshoot. The temp reading on the instrument cluster has always been erroneous though with inaccurate readings (e.g. transmission temp reads 20 deg on an 80 deg day) or wild swings in temperature reading. There is a GM special coverage notice for this issue due to the amount of owners this has affected (N192291660), but this only applies to 6.2L owners even though multiple 5.3L owners that have the exact same 8L90 transmission are experiencing this same issue.

Truck lost power and died while making a low speed right turn. Attempted to start vehicle but was unable to immediately after losing power, after trying again for about 30 seconds I was able to get it to start and pull it off the road. I lost control of the steering as the steering wheel locked up. When I turned it back on the truck required me to roll the driver window down and back up and radio stations went back to the default station, letting me know that the truck lost power. This typically happens at low speed, but I have had it lose power while driving on the highway at night and my headlights shut off, luckily it immediately came back on.

This has happened multiple times, most of the time going at a low mph while turning (I.e into a driveway). However, it has happened driving through a residential neighborhood as I’m going straight or turning. My truck will completely power off and I will lose access to the steering. The steering wheel will lock up, any systems (radio, A/C, etc. that were on will go off). Multiple time I have had my battery/alternator checked after these instances and my battery/alternator passes with flying colors. Luckily each time it has happened I haven’t been in traffic, but if another car was around or expecting me to make a full turn, it could have run into me while my truck just shut down in the middle of the turn. I had to restart the whole car to be able to move out of the way. These instances have happened intermittently and seemingly at random. When I took it to a dealer, they didn’t know what it was and couldn’t reproduce it. Insurance, police or other have not inspected it - again it happens intermittently. There haven’t been warning lamps prior to these instances, but when it happens it says stabilitrak warning or another message on the screen as it shuts down completely.

The check engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle failed to exceed 20 MPH. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact purchased a portable diagnostic machine and retrieved DTC Codes: C279A and U0422-71 indicating an electrical failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was purchased 30 days prior to the failure and the vehicle had been serviced by the dealer four times due to the persistent failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.

My local Chevy dealer has confirmed that the human machine interface (HMI) module has failed on my 2016 Chevy Silverado, causing the back-up camera to be inoperable. The camera is absolutely necessary at night when backing up due to window tinting and I believe this to be a safety-related issue. There currently is a nationwide back order on a replacement HMI module.

After air conditioning stopped working today on my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew High Country, conducted research to find out if others experiencing the same issue. Discovered thousands of pages of complaints and class action suits. Vehicle is 7 years old and just went over 79K. Following several troubleshooting videos and write-ups by technicians, discovered the top weld on the driver's side of the condenser has leaked the refrigerant and made the system inoperable. Since the defective condenser (AC Delco) is no longer being used and a clamp replacement to support the weld was never installed, expect that GM or Chevrolet to replace the defective part.

My vehicle just randomly shuts off, mainly when making a turn. I took it in to the dealership and had several repairs made but none of them fixed the problem. It’s definitely dangerous I almost had a accident at least 3 times. I feel it’s electrical due to the fact everything shuts off, the dash usually flashes before it shuts off. All electronics shut down and the vehicle turns completely off with no control of steering. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s electrical so I’m searching for a solution.

I was driving the other day and slowed to an upcoming vehicle, when I tapped the brakes the stabilitrak light flashed and all my dash lights and radio flickered, then when I used my turn signal the same things happened plus the windshield wipers came on, then when I went to merge back into my lane the pickup completely stalled out jerking us forward into our seat belts and then kept going. Later that day I went thru a drive thru and when I was turning the steering wheel jerked and wasn't able to continue turning and the pickup died. I had to lock the steering wheel in order to get it started again. This isn't the only time the first issues have happened or the steering wheel being jerked and stalling out, but this is the first time it completely stalled out in the highway and that is not okay. That is a complete safety issue and I'm not the only one who has had this issue, however when I have talked to a mechanic about it they couldn't find anything wrong and had no answer for me. There are several recalls on the years before the 2016 chevy silverado but nothing for them, and this is a big safety concern.

3mos ago i had a fender bender in Mesa,AZ(my front end to pasenger side)her car was towed my wasn't for the next 28 days my truck was still driving just fine like nothing ever happened to it,at the end of the month my work was done so i drove bk to Cali and it was till the middle of April when this all started 2 months ago like normal I was getting an oil change from there I went home it was 5:30pm didn't go anywhere else that night ,the next morning I put my key into the ignition and it was completely dead, at first I thought it was the battery so I bought a new one, installed the new battery went on my way to run my errands 3hrs pass came home it was around 12:40pm,around 5:30pm I was planning on going to the grocery store went to start my truck wouldn't start truck battery was dead, nothing was left on no door was open no lights were on, so I towed it to my mechanic so he could put it on the scope to find out the general problem,called and told me that it was an electrical problem and my truck would have to be reprogram starting from the main chip in my transmission, going back in forth from my mechanic to the Chevrolet dealer in Victorville ca, it's still not in working condition yet and still trying to reprogram the last of these codes that keep appearing on the dash(2016 Chevy Silverado 6cyl 4door LT, never had any problems at all from the day I got it from the dealer back in 2019 of Mar, with reg oil changes, tune ups, ran like a brand new truck, very confused, upset, concerned about this matter, not to mention the cost for this, Sincerely [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Trailer brake system warning has been flashing non stop for 2 weeks. I do not use or tow anything with this vehicle. Usually it locks up the steering wheel while parking my truck and shuts down the engine. Yesterday I was going 55 on the highway and the warning came on and it shut down the truck tried to put the vehicle in park and rapidly applied the breaks then the truck electrical system came back too and the truck was rolling I pull off to the shoulder to shut the truck off and turn it back on. At the time I had both my sons in the vehicle 4 years old and 9 months. Again usually it always happens when parking my truck (under 5mph) it will lock the steering wheel and totally shut down the trucks engine. Huge safety concern.

Dash board instrument panel and radio loses all power, May even cause vehicle to shut off not able to steer, If the cruise control is set it shuts it off. It mostly happens when you apply the brake or if I operate my passenger window from driver door controls. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer or independent service center. Has not been inspected by the manufacturer or any other representatives. No it gives no indication prior to the failure. I have been researching it on google and youtube, I have seen a lot of owners with the same problem but no one seem to have a solution. Thank you

I was driving in a state Highway when without warning in traffic my truck stopped driving but the engine was still going. I have been to the dealer and complained about electronics like the radio just ceasing to work and the display unit as well as the erratic shift pattern of the transmission 3 times . Thankfully no one was injured and it was late night/ early morning hours, in moderate traffic we might have been injured. Upon looking at blogs and forums online and I am not the only one with these issues, it is a very costly repair. I was told by the mechanic he has another vehicle like mine for the same issue and apparently it’s related to the torque converter (in his words “most are problematic and inadequate from the factory” and the way the engine runs on less cylinders which in turn destroyed the valve body and pump in the transmission. The repair will end up costing me over $6000 now. I really just don’t want anyone injured as well as taken advantage of.

POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. FIRST TIME DEALER "FLASHED" ECU AND SOLVED THE PROBLEM. SECOND TIME THE ECU HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE BURNED OUT. NOT JUST BURNED OUT BUT NOT EASILY REPLACEABLE AS IT IS WELDED TO THE RACK AND PINION STEERING! ACCORDING TO THE VIN ON THE TRUCK IT SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED THE RECALL. IF NOT, THEN PLEASE TELL ME WHAT WOULD CAUSE SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN A VEHICLE WITH 26,000 MILES ON IT. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONES' DEATH TO BE WORTHY OF A RECALL?

Have taken vehicle to dealership for service and they completed their 21 point inspection and never seem to find the electrical problem or the transmission issue, no transmission has completely stopped working. Shifting hard and truck will not move at times or will only travel at only 8 miles per hour.

Truck turns off when going in reverse, sometimes when brake is applied, sometimes when turning left and when left turn signal is on. It usually happened when stopping at a traffic stop or light or when turning left. This time it turned off when changing lanes on the freeway and almost caused a pile up. It was scary and it could have caused a lot of unnecessary mishaps. What happens is the engine turns off completely for a couple of seconds and turns back on. It feels like its a battery cable issue or some bad connection. The problem is the dealer cannot replicate the problem. Sometimes it happens often sometimes it happens every other day. Had momentary steering loss preceded by an electrical glitch. System recovered after a few seconds. A steering warning appeared on the display but no code was triggered. This is similar to the recall problems on the 2015 Silverado.

LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS DESCRIBED IN THE NOTICE. THIS IS SECOND TIME IT HAS OCCURED . FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED (2 YEARS AGO) TRUCK WAS WITH MY MECHANIC FOR 6 WEEKS AS HE TRIED TO "MECHANICALLY" FIX THE PROBLEM. FINALLY, DEALERSHIP TOLD HIM THEY NEEDED TO "FLASH" THE COMPUTER SYSTEM IN THE TRUCK. MECHANIC TOOK THE TRUCK TO DEALER WHEREUPON THE "FLASH" PROCEDURE WAS PERFORMED, THE POWER STEERING RETURNED AND THE TRUCK WAS GIVEN BACK TO ME AS "FIXED"! I HAVE ALREADY BEEN INVOLVED IN 1 LIFE THREATENING VEHICLE CRASH (2017 Dodge Durango) I'M NOT DOING THAT AGAIN. HELPPPPPPPP! LOOK IT UP.

I was door dashing then a service alert came on the dash… I had pulled over to check what it meant about the trailer brake system. I have never towed or have a trailer to tow around! So continued to drive then my truck cut off then cut on while I was trying to make a turn. Then I pulled over again and luckily a mechanic said it’s wiring that’s defected in my truck and I need to get fix! I don’t have no money to get this fix , is there a way I can get some assistance with this?

I parked my truck in the garage and shut it off, after a minute or two the starter engaged by itself, cranking the engine over, luckily I wasn't to far from and heard it. I tried by putting the key in the ignition, nothing, pulled the starter relay, still kept cranking, by the time I got some tools to disconnect the battery smoke was rolling out by the starter, disconnecting the battery did stop the starter. Had it hauled to my nearest chevy dealer. Had to have the starter, engine wiring harness and engine fuse block replaced. It fine now, but why? What would have happened if this happened in the middle of the night? This is an attached to house garage, there could have been a fire with who knows what consequences or outcome!

The reduced power indicator comes on. The code for this has been p2138 and it keeps saying it’s the pedal and I’ve replaced it twice and it seems to still come out. Looking over the internet it seems that this case has been experienced by so many people. GM needs to take responsibility and fix this problem with not only my vehicle but future ones as well. After this experience I’m really not sure I would want to continue purchasing GMs anymore. You need to have a recall on this issue and have it fixed.

Rear Defroster malfunction. After starting the vehicle smoke was coming from the rear cab of my truck in the area that the power sliding window meets the rest of the rear window. In the same area, one of the metal strips for the defroster was glowing red hot. Seconds later the rear window shattered within inches of my face. There were no warning lights or messages prior to the defroster malfunctioning. The vehicle is yet to be disabled and the dealer refuses to look at the vehicle until the rear window is fixed. There are messages and recalls from the manufacturer for this issue on the same year make and model as my vehicle but for some reason my trucks vin number is not associated with that recall.

Additionally, a message was displayed indicating that the driver’s side window be closed. The contact stated that the vehicle then lost motive power and stalled. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred several times while driving. Usually shuts down for a few seconds and then starts back. Sometimes it shuts off completely and I have to place it in park and restart. The last time was while in traffic.

GMC HAS THIS PROBLEMS WITH SEVERAL MODELS OF THIER CARS WITH THE MYLINK SYSTEM IN IT OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. Service trailer brake warning system activating intermittently without a trailer attached. Dashboard message center displays "service trailer brake system" alarm chime activation sounds. Repair facility diagnostics indicate the wiring harness between the BCM’s and brake system has a fault / defect issue. I was advised this is common issue with this vehicle and presents a severe safety concern with a braking system and require immediate repair for my safety. The repairs are not covered under a TSB or recall notice from Chevrolet.

Zero warning lamps or warning labels. Safely made it to the side of the road after getting out of traffic, but inhaled quite a bit of white, bitter smoke.

"Trailer Brake System" (TBS) warning indicator malfunction. Out of nowhere the TBS warning message and chime started malfunctioning. The malfunction is irregular and often so frequent the vehicle is un-drivable. The rapid warning display and chime is very distracting and presents a very significant distraction resulting in unsafe operation of the vehicle. I have a 2016 Silverado which was purchased new, the vehicle has now 35K miles. Recently the radio display which contains the intelink and other adaptive controls began randomly going through multiple screens on my dashboard, and touch screen radio screen including digital speedometer turning off and going to random music stations, the radio flickering as if searching for different signals , and going through different screens, blue tooth, ac, radio volume going extremely loud, driver info screen going blank , etc... causing a horrible distraction , and will not turn off a search on the internet shows multiple GM vehicles for the years 2016-2020 with the same problem I have contacted local dealer who states car is not under warranty anymore. This is definitely a safety issue on this vehicle and I would like to report this to the NHTSI

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for routine service, it was discovered that anti-freeze had leaked from the radiator. The radiator and thermostat were replaced, and the failure was remedied. The contact indicated that prior to the repair the thermostat would occasionally over cycle. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 84,204.

Atmospheric temperature, 33 degrees F. Windows slightly frosted. Remote started vehicle and cleared side and front windshield of frost. Entered vehicle, inserted keys and drove approximately 300 ft to drop off mail. While sitting in the vehicle and the vehicle was in park, and running. I heard a very load pop and and observed left side window had shattered. This is the driver side rear window, left side looking from rear of vehicle. The window was bowed out slightly and some loose pieces of glass were observed. This occurred approximately 3 minutes after the initial start of the vehicle. No other damage observed. This vehicle had been previously subject to a recall regarding the powered rear window defroster circuit. The dealer corrected this recall on February 7, 2020.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado LT Crew Cab Standard Box A/C Condenser (GM Part Number 84802253) cracked at weld and failed at approximately 63,000 miles, resulting in refrigerant leaking to atmosphere and loss of cooling. The affected component is very similar to the TSB 17336 from GM on like vehicles. There were no warnings or indicators that signaled that this component had failed. Owner located weld failure independently.

GM HAS A BULLETIN ABOUT A SMALL WATER LEAK IN THE SAME AREA BUT DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT IT IS RELATED TO THE REAR WINDOW SHATTERING. THE WATER LEAKS IN DIRECTLY ONTO THE POWER COMPONENTS OF THE GLASS, CREATES A SHORT THAT OVERHEATS THE GLASS, AND ULTIMATELY ENDS WITH THE REAR GLASS SHATTERING. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO CATCH MINE BEFORE IT BLEW OUT BUT THAT COULD CAUSE A HAZARD FOR ANYONE SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT, I DO NOT FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL BUT SOME SORT OF EXTENDED COVERAGE ON THIS COMPONENT FOR THOSE WHO EXPRESS THE SAME COMPLAINT. EVEN IF YOU CATCH IT BEFORE THE WINDOW BLOWS OUT, THE DAMAGE FROM THE SHORT IS ONLY FIXED BY REPLACING THE ENTIRE REAR WINDOW ASSEMBLY (THAT IS WHAT THEY DID TO MINE). ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I WENT TO PULL OUT OF A SIDE ROAD ONTO A MAIN ROAD AND THE TRUCK FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE LIKE I HIT A KILL SWITCH AND IT ALL MOST CAUSED ME TO GET T-BONED. I HIT THE THROTTLE MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT DECIDED IT WAS GOING TO 100% THROTTLE AND HAVE ME GOING OUT SIDEWAYS ONTO THE MAIN ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED IT TO BE A PROGRAMMING ISSUE, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FROM GM AND THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT BECAUSE OF EPA LAWS, BUT THERE ARE AFTERMARKET TUNERS THAT ADDRESS THIS VERY ISSUE AND FIXES THE PROBLEM AND ALSO VOIDS WARRANTY OF THE TRUCK. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND MAKING TURNS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PARADISE CHEVROLET CADILLAC (27360 YNEZ RD, TEMECULA, CA 9259 (951) 699-2699) FIVE TIMES FOR THE FAILURE, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED OR DUPLICATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LAST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, SHE INFORMED THE DEALER THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WOULD INADVERTENTLY TURN TO THE "OFF" POSITION. THE DEALER REPLACED THE IGNITION SWITCH, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR MONTHS LATER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER ONCE AGAIN TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT FOR 8/2/2017. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 3,000.

VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY LOSES ALL ELECTRICAL CONTROLS: POWER STEERING, ENGINE POWER, STABILITRAK, AIRBAGS. ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ARE COMPROMISED AND THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON A FEW TIMES IT WILL GO INTO A 'LIMP MODE'. I'VE BEEN STRANDED IN THE VEHICLE 4 TIMES. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TWICE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY, ONCE DRIVING IN A PARKING LOT, AND TWICE WHEN FIRST STARTING THE VEHICLE. DURING ONE INCIDENT ON THE FREEWAY I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE AND LOST ALL ENGINE POWER, AIRBAGS, SAFETY CONTROLS, AND POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST AND MAKE MY WAY OVER TO THE SHOULDER. GM AND THE DEALERSHIP HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND ARE NOW REFUSING TO HONOR THE WARRANTY, REPLACE THE VEHICLE, OR REFUND THE PURCHASE. THIS HAS BEEN A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE HAD MY WIFE AND TWO SMALL CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAS DIED ON THE FREEWAY. NOT ONLY IS IT A SIGNIFICANT DANGER TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY, BUT ANY OTHER VEHICLES IN CLOSE PROXIMITY. AS SUCH I HAVE REFUSED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY LONGER, BUT GM SEEMS INTENT ON IGNORING THIS.

UPON ACCELERATING AFTER TRAFFIC LIGHT, POWER FAILS, STEERING LOCKS FOLLOWING GRINDING CLANKING SOUND IN STEERING COLUMN. ALSO OCCURS SAME SYMPTOMS IN ATTEMPT TO MOVE GEAR SHIFT TO PARK POSITION. MORE FREQUENT DOING THIS PROCEDURE. KEY MOVES BY ITSELF TO ORIGINALLY INPUT POSITION IN PROCESS OF LOCKING STEERING. THIS DEFECT OCCURRED EIGHT TIMES WITHIN FIVE DAYS, REQUIRING TOWING, AND BEING STRANDED. VEHICLE DELIVERED BY TOW SERVICE TO NEAREST CHEVY DEALER ON FIRST FEW FAILURES, VEHICLE RETURNED TO ORIGINAL DEALER 230 MILES AWAY NEAR OWNERS HOME AT COST OF OWNER. ORIGINAL DEALER BELIEVES DEFECT IS POTENTIALLY LIGNITION LOCKING SYSTEM, ATTEMPTING TO VERIFY AT THIS PERIOD. THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE OF LOOSING POWER AND SYSTEMS LOCKING UP JEOPARDIZE OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS LIVES.AGAIN OCCURRENCES WERE AT VERY LOW SPEED OR IN MOTION OF PARKING.

ONGOING SAFETY ISSUE...VEHICLE LOOSES POWER, STEERING, BRAKING, ALL OTHER DEVICES INACTIVE, DRIVING SAFETY OF OCCUPANTS AND OTHERS RELEVANT WHEN DRIVER HAS NO CONTROL DUE TO DEFECT. CHEVY MECHANICS BELIEVE MIGHT BE STEERING SYSTEM SUCH AS IGNITION AND LOCKING ELEMENTS, DUE TO GRINDING NOISE BEFORE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER AND OTHER PARTS LOCK UP, CHEVY TECHS THOUGHT MIGHT BE RACE AND PINION, MIGHT BE ELECTRICAL, MIGHT BE WHATEVER, THEY ARE UNABLE TO CONCLUSIVELY DETERMINE THIS CRITICAL SAFETY DEFECT IN TRUCK. CHEVY TECHS HAVE COMMENTED THEY ARE SKEPTICAL ABOUT LETTING ANYONE DRIVE UNTIL RESOLVED. INVESTMENT HUGH WITH LOSS OF USE AND FINDING OTHER TRANSPORTATION. WHY OWN IT. GM NEEDS TO REIMBURSE COST AND REPLACE. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT LIABILITY. ALL ASPECTS OF NON FUNCTIONING PARTS DON'T GENERATE ERROR CODES, AND THIS INCIDENT HAS REOCCURRED OVER EIGHT TIMES IN FIVE DAYS. THIS REQUIRES ACTION BY GM, WHERE IS IT. LOANER VEHICLE NOT SUFFICIENT REPLACEMENT FOR INVESTMENT. SAFETY ISSUE COMMENCED ON MARCH 16, TOWED MULTIPLE TIMES, BEEN TO TWO DEALERS, INITIAL MORE THAN 200 MILES FROM HOME, AND CURRENT DEALER WHERE PURCHASED WITH 25 MILES OF HOME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500.
