The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while starting the vehicle, there was a loud rattling sound coming from the engine compartment, with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked unexpectedly, with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal became inoperable. The contact reported that the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard, and the ABS system vibrated following the brake pedal failure. No warning lights were illuminated for the brake failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.

While driving on the freeway accelerating the truck made a huge clunking noise and dropped speed instantly and I was unable to accelerate. The tow truck driver said it was a transmission problem.truck had to be towed and is at the mechanic awaiting an official diagnosis

Vehicle will cut off as if an electrical short and the Service Stabilitrak indicator will flash on the dashboard along with warning chimes. This has happened several times at low speed (1st gear) especially while turning. The steering wheel locks and can not be turned. I've almost been involved in an accident this week because the truck turns off while making a turn. I was at a stop sign waiting to turn left having to cross 2 lanes of on coming traffic and when I accelerated the trucks electrical cut out and forced the steering wheel to go straight I gave it more gas and the truck turned back on. On another day I pulled up and put it in reverse turned right and the truck shut off I had to put it in park and restarted it to back in my driveway. GM need to fix this.

This vehicle has experienced repeated and ongoing serious defects with the 8L90 Transmission Torque Converter. I took delivery of this vehicle on 17SEP2016 and since it has required multiple service appointments to address the issue. To date it has not been satisfactorily repaired. Despite repeated failed repair attempts the vehicle exhibits erratic transmission slipping, jerking, hesitation and surging under acceleration. These symptoms persist even after a most recent torque converter replacement (and subsequent re-replacement as outlined below). This creates a serious safety concern particularly when accelerating into traffic, merging and driving uphill, but also in low speed maneuvers such as navigating a parking lot. The vehicle often feels like it is misfiring under acceleration when trying to merge, then surges forward erratically. In parking lots at low speeds, the downshift of this transmission is so abrupt that it often causes the driver and passengers alike to believe that the vehicle has been hit from behind. The repair history started within 2 years/24K miles as follows: - 01FEB2018 @ 28140 - Drain flush and fill transmission for Shudder/Hard Down Shift - Diagnosed as Torque converter issue. This helped for a short period of time - 26JUN2019 @ 53445 Miles - Same issue - same diagnosis - same repair attempt - this was unsuccessful in anyway. - 12NOV2019 @ 60653 Miles - Same issue and diagnosis - Torque converter replaced - 31JUL2024 @134218 Miles - Same issue and diagnosis - Flush and fill recommended since extended warranty had expired - paid $300 for transmission fluid flush and fill - 15APR2025@145963 Miles - Same issue and diagnosis - Torque converter replaced for $2956 - there was no appreciable improvement - 08AUG2025@151182 Miles - Torque Converter replaced under warranty from 15APR2025 work - No appreciable improvement - 20AUG2025@151500 Miles - Same issue - Advised to replace entire transmission

Transmission shifts erratically, sometimes violently. It seems to shift through several gears within seconds. There is no warning lights or codes that appear. I was rolling in line to exit a parking lot, going less than a crawl, and transmission shifted. It sounded like I had been rear-ended and vehicle lunged forward. There was enough distance that I was able to avoid the vehicle that was in front of me.

This vehicle has been driven only on highway and local paved suburban roads. Fully maintained per Manufacturer recommendations. This vehicle has never been used to tow. Transmission suddenly failed during driving creating an unsafe condition on a 55mph busy road.

Jul 1, 2025

Problem 1: passenger side seatbelt does not retract. Problem 2: the transmission failed due to a bad torque converter. This is apparently a well known problem that General Motors has been ignoring. The cost to repair is approximately $6,500.00 which, for a senior citizen is really going to hurt my cost of living.

2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Z71 Crew Cab Transmission (6 speed automatic) 97,000 miles - At 70 mph in traffic, the transmission decided to stop working with no warning, stranded on highway 800 miles from home at 7:15 pm on Saturday, June 28, 2024. - Got it to a Chevy dealership, they had to replace the transmission. - 4 days and $7,100 later I had transportation again. - Do not have the blown transmission, dealership kept it. Engine (5.3L V8 EcoTec3) 103,000 miles - At 35 mph in traffic, the engine lost all power and had a very loud clunking sound. Had to have it towed. December 7, 2024 - Had to have it rebuilt, 3 lifters were broken along with other things. - 3 weeks and $5,600 later I had transportation again. - I have the box of parts that had to be replaced.

Transmission completely destroyed. Transmission known to have various problems had in shop twice and still not right! Total cost so far is 4800 dollars

Apr 26, 2025

The transmission failed prematurely (just over 95,000 miles). Before i had it rebuilt, It was lurching forward as I was coming to a stop. It also had trouble switching gears (very rough) and a loss of power. I understand this transmission is part of a class action lawsuit. I wanted to make sure my experience was documented with the other cases. General Motors needs to correct this problem and reimburse owners for work already completed. I will dig up my transmission repair documentation and include it with this record. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Mar 18, 2025

2016 Silverado with 5.3L and 8L90 transmission. Experienced a P0711-Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor "A" Circuit code and a P0700-Transmission Control System Malfunction. The P0711 code has periodically come up multiple times in the past, but would clear itself before could make to a dealership to troubleshoot. The temp reading on the instrument cluster has always been erroneous though with inaccurate readings (e.g. transmission temp reads 20 deg on an 80 deg day) or wild swings in temperature reading. There is a GM special coverage notice for this issue due to the amount of owners this has affected (N192291660), but this only applies to 6.2L owners even though multiple 5.3L owners that have the exact same 8L90 transmission are experiencing this same issue.

Mar 17, 2025

I have had to replace the transmission in this vehicle 3 times within a year and half time frame. Initially experienced harsh shifting, significant hesitation in shifting and the transmission overheated whilst driving on the highway to the point where smoke was clearly visible. Each of the 3 failures stemmed from the torque converter. There were no warning lamps or messages present prior to the failures.

Mar 11, 2025

Jerking of 1-2 gears. Also in 5-6. Has not been inspected thoroughly by dealer. Was told “it’s just the way these vehicles are.” Merging onto oncoming traffic, I fear for my safety. No warning lights and the jerking/rumble strip feeling is becoming more common than when purchased.

Nov 1, 2024

P0711 and P0700 code indicates a “transmission 8L90 temperature switch failure” requiring a transmission wiring harness replacement on my vehicle equipped with an 8 cylinder, 5.3L gas engine. Reference N192291660 special coverage transmission wiring harness, which only applies to vehicles equipped with 8 cylinder, 6.2L gas engine. Based on my research, this is a common problem on vehicles equipped with 8 cylinder, 5.3L gas engines and the TSB should be modified to include them as well. Respectfully…GM needs to acknowledge this problem and be held responsible for repairs on transmission 8L90 temperature switch failures for 8 cylinder, 5.3L gas engine.

Jan 16, 2024

My 2016 Chevy Silverado hit 100,000 and the transmission started to get clunky and finally went out a couple of days later. When the transmission went out we were stranded, had to call toe service. We had it toed to the closest service center and they said "this isn't the first one of these that they have seen, the transmissions should last way longer than 100k". Had them put a new transmission in the truck and that was about 8k that I wasn't ready to spend. There were not warning lights or anything on the dash stating there was anything wrong. I can't even tell you how disappointed I am, and I have owned chevy trucks my whole life.

Powertrain failed and vehicle would no longer move. Engine would rev up, but truck would not move in any direction, almost like the transmission had gone into neutral. Powered the vehicle off, then back on, and it violently jerked, but was enough for me to get to the shoulder. Afterwards, got the vehicle checked out with a scanner, there were no check engine codes coming up, nor were there any lights on the dash. When they checked the transmission oil, there was a lot of metal flakes, which will require a transmission change. Eletric seats also do not allow any movement, making it very difficult when others try to drive the truck.

Nov 5, 2023

Due to multiple electrical issues causes my stabilitrac, lane assist and power steering assist to cut out. After reading multiple forums and speaking to other owners many of these trucks have the same issue and Chevy isn’t addressing at all.

My truck started shuddering and having shifting issues. Took to Chevrolet dealership and was told that this has become a common issue with this type of transmission. We ended up having to replace the transmission.

Sep 1, 2023

While driving on the highway on ramp, the transmission came out of gear. The engine would accelerate but the transmission would not stay engaged. at this time the check engine light came on. Upon having it towed to a dealership and having the vehicle inspected. It was determined that "the Torque Converter came apart causing metal in the pan when hot vehicle would stop pulling". The transmission has been replaced at considerable expense. Dealer had stated to me that they have seen multiple vehicles with this same issue from 2015 to 2020 models. While we were at the dealership two vehicles were checked in with similar issues. This torque converter issue poses a risk while accelerating/passing other vehicles.

Transmission (6L80/E) started slipping at around 100,000 miles and needed completely replaced/rebuilt. This is replicated on multiple trucks with this transmission from 2016-2018. Evidence was slipping while shifting between 2-3rd gears. Dealership advised transmission needed completely replaced. Cost associated was ~$4000

Transmission bumping or shuddering in 1st-4th gear

Jul 8, 2023

My vehicle just randomly shuts off, mainly when making a turn. I took it in to the dealership and had several repairs made but none of them fixed the problem. It’s definitely dangerous I almost had a accident at least 3 times. I feel it’s electrical due to the fact everything shuts off, the dash usually flashes before it shuts off. All electronics shut down and the vehicle turns completely off with no control of steering. I’ve come to the conclusion it’s electrical so I’m searching for a solution.

Jun 27, 2023

Transmission drops out of gear with no warning. No forward or reverse. This is a potential hazard that if it had occurred on an Interstate, whether it be causing an accident or getting hit by other vehicles trying to get to side of road. Vehicle is with a transmission repair shop currently. No repair records yet or actual cause. Mechanic informed me today that transmission needs to replaced due to economics that a rebuilt or re manufactured would be better option. Will save records if when I get all receipts for the repair.

Jun 15, 2023

Transmission would shudder when driving. Sometimes loud bang when shifting from first to second gear. Torque converter ultimately failed while crossing traffic. Truck would not move. No gears. Only 58,000 miles on transmission. Never used for hauling. Torque converter had broken metal parts that caused the fluid to become blocked so it could not drive. A rebuilt transmission needed to be installed at my cost.

Jun 15, 2023

Transmission temperature sensor failure exactly as described in special coverage N192291660 occurred on my vehicle.

Jun 12, 2023

Torque converter shredded itself into my transmission while driving. When I was driving the truck did not show a light on the dashboard to show there was a problem with the engine and I started it up and started to drive. Once I was on a main road it stopped moving in drive and I had to coast to a stop. Once I stopped I had to put it in park and shut off the engine and restart the engine, still no light and now it would move again. I had it towed to the dealership and they said it was the torque converter that shredded metal into my transmission and that I needed a new one.

May 30, 2023

I was driving down the road when the transmission would no longer change gears. There were no warning lamps or anything to indicate that this was going to happen.

Vehicle takes 6 seconds before it does a hard shift into reverse. It also has hard jerks when switching gears. In April it was taken to Don Hall in which I was told that is how this model does and nothing could be done even though it was under a paid for extended warranty. The radio display also glitches out and is extremely faulty

Apr 27, 2023

Transmission died. Tried to merge highway traffic and wouldn’t accelerate. Push down gas pedal and mph didn’t change but rpm went to 6rpm. Finally engaged. Continued to shudder and hesitate but eventually smoothed out. Had to stop at a traffic light and it did the same thing. Next time I had to stop I completely lost forward motion. Pushed gas pedal and rpm at 6rpm and wouldn’t move. Transmission light came on and had to have it towed. Transmission is being replaced.

Apr 26, 2023

My truck has a shudder/ shake while accelerating as well as rough shifts here and there. If certain speeds are maintained, the shudder is constant. This causes uneven speeds, noises, and distractions. I fear one day the transmission will fully give out while driving and I will crash. My vehicle is available for inspection. The problem is easily reproduced as it happens every time I drive. As well, the truck was recently at an independent service center and the problem was confirmed by an associate. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer as they told me it would cost me $180 just for a diagnostic which they will need my car for two days. There are no current dash lights on. This is a known issue and Chevrolet should be held accountable.

Apr 20, 2023

I just bought the vehicle in the summer of 2022 and the truck started to shudder so I took it to see if the tired were out of balance and they told me it sounded like a transmission issue. I took it to Lynchburg Transmission and they said after they ran their diagnostics test the transmission is shot and I need a new one. The vehicle only has 103,000 miles and should not need a new transmission on it. I have read online there are tons of 2016 chevy 1500s that have had transmission issues around the same mileage. This should be an issue that Chevy should be addressing and recall.

Apr 18, 2023

The family was driving down a busy highway and we felt a strong rapid jerk and heard a loud pop sound. The 2016 Chevy Silverado felt very forced and would not go past 20 miles per hour and the RPM's were between 2 and 3. This problem placed our family at risk because the speed was reduced significantly and could have been hit from behind or could no safely exit the highway. An independent mechanic has checked the truck and confirmed the transmission needs to be replaced as he reproduced the issue on a test drive. No warning signs came on prior to the issue but only after we exited the highway did the "check engine" light came on when we parked. *** Please note we had already replaced the original transmission in Nov. 2021, the exact same issue occurred at that time and it was replaced by a Chevy dealership in Pleasanton, Tx due to the pan was full of metal shavings***

Apr 13, 2023

The transmission failed at 96,000 miles even though maintenance had been completed. This could have been a catastrophic failure on the highway my family or others at risk. The dealer has the truck now and confirmed a failed transmission. No warning signs other than odd behavior when accelerating which led to odd noises from the transmission.

Apr 6, 2023

I was driving in a state Highway when without warning in traffic my truck stopped driving but the engine was still going. I have been to the dealer and complained about electronics like the radio just ceasing to work and the display unit as well as the erratic shift pattern of the transmission 3 times . Thankfully no one was injured and it was late night/ early morning hours, in moderate traffic we might have been injured. Upon looking at blogs and forums online and I am not the only one with these issues, it is a very costly repair. I was told by the mechanic he has another vehicle like mine for the same issue and apparently it’s related to the torque converter (in his words “most are problematic and inadequate from the factory” and the way the engine runs on less cylinders which in turn destroyed the valve body and pump in the transmission. The repair will end up costing me over $6000 now. I really just don’t want anyone injured as well as taken advantage of.

Apr 3, 2023

Barking system. it seams like when I’m in the city the brakes will not engage properly, at some point I’ve had to use the emergency brake to stop. on the freeway the brakes work good but when running at low rpm it’s like the brakes go to the floor and the truck is still moving. I went to get my brakes inspected and brake pads are still good, brake fluid was good. They told me to bring it in when the brakes fail again so they could see what was happening. Transmission was replace at 65000 miles because of a faulty torque converter

POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME. FIRST TIME DEALER "FLASHED" ECU AND SOLVED THE PROBLEM. SECOND TIME THE ECU HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE BURNED OUT. NOT JUST BURNED OUT BUT NOT EASILY REPLACEABLE AS IT IS WELDED TO THE RACK AND PINION STEERING! ACCORDING TO THE VIN ON THE TRUCK IT SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED THE RECALL. IF NOT, THEN PLEASE TELL ME WHAT WOULD CAUSE SUCH A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE IN A VEHICLE WITH 26,000 MILES ON IT. DOES IT TAKE SOMEONES' DEATH TO BE WORTHY OF A RECALL?

Mar 24, 2023

The vehicle only has 118,000 miles on it and the transmission cooler lines are leaking and now I have a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear and the same when the vehicle is downshifting as well.

Mar 20, 2023

The lifters on one side of my engine failed. This is due to the AFM(Active fuel management) system that GM had in its vehicles from 2016-2021. My truck is a V8 motor and the AFM system drops the motor to 4 cylinders during periods that the vehicle is in stop or coasting. Overtime the lifters in the engine wear out causing the engine to fail. I barely made it to the dealer to fix the issue as I lost full power in the engine nearly causing me to have an accident. The only notification I got was check engine light started blinking mid-stream on my way to work. The cost to repair lifters is extremely high and that is the reason why GM hasn't issued a recall yet. There are thousands of cases of failed lifters in my research online. GM knew this was a problem as they have quit using the AFM feature in all of their vehicles. My servicer at my dealership even told me that they have seen this problem on multiple occasions.

Mar 18, 2023

Have taken vehicle to dealership for service and they completed their 21 point inspection and never seem to find the electrical problem or the transmission issue, no transmission has completely stopped working. The contact's son owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while at a complete stop, the vehicle intermittently hesitated upon the depression of the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and provided an estimate for a diagnostic test. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but referred the owner back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My truck has 123,700 miles on it. I took my truck to M&T auto mechanic in Grandville, Michigan. They advised me I need a new transmission. I bought my Truck from Berger Chevolet in Grandville, Michigan with zero issues. It had 59,000 miles on it when I bought it used. I have taken very good of this truck and I do not pull anything with it. I feel I should have gotten many more miles out of the transmission. I feel General Motors is at fault for this. Can anyone help me out with this issue?

Feb 8, 2023

I have had 2 separate issues 2 weeks apart with the transmission. The first one was "fixed". Now they are stating I need a new transmission.

Feb 6, 2023

It appears, after google research, that my torque converter is or has failed. Transmission shudder is happening on my 6 speed trans.

Feb 5, 2023

At only 72k on the truck while traveling at 70mph down the freeway the transmission started slipping out of gear causing the motor to rev up causing a loss of power. Luckily I managed to get the vehicle off of the freeway without incident. It seemed to go back to normal than continued to slip within 3-4 miles. It turns out that the transmission pump failed and damaged the entire transmission. The truck was taken into the dealer in approximately 2018/19 because of a transmission shudder, to which the dealership said it was normal and there were no issues with the truck.

Feb 3, 2023

I have been experiencing this problem for years, but recently it has been getting worse. When accelerating from a stop there is a shudder in the transmission. The wheels feel like they slip or vibrate upon acceleration from a stop or slow speed. Sometimes the wheels don't spin, and I have to put the truck in 4-wheel drive for the wheels to catch. Sometimes while at a steady speed, like on a highway, the transmission slips and catches quickly, like little thumps. I only have 62,000 miles on my truck. I do not haul heavy loads or tow a trailer.

Feb 3, 2023

The transmission failed while driving on a highway the transmission went into limp mode reducing speed down to 1st gear almost causing a wreck . Codes read p0700 and p0796 .after drawing transmission fluid it looked like water in there fluid but I found out it's glycol. There is a recall on my year make and model but not by my vin .

6l80 transmission filed /malfunctioned it is available or inspection . while driving down a highway running 65mph i noticed a slip in the transmission . all at once my transmission started dropping gears from 6th all the way down to 1st gear .causing increased rpm . i was in the center lane of the highway and could not gain speed to keep up with traffic and was almost hit by a semi truck . as i only had 1st gear 10 mph . i finally managed to get the truck off the highway which left me stranded on the inside lane of a interstate no where to go . i had my family of 5 in my truck on the way home .if it had not been for the fast reaction of the semi driver my family would not be here today . when i got my truck towed home i ran a diagnostic which gave me the code P0796 pressure control soleniod c performance or stuck off. and P0700 transmission control system . i have seen so many youtube videos/ repair videos. of the solenoid pack failure torque converter failure . electrical failure for these trucks i dont understand why their is no recall .

My 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500 has just over 100,000 miles, and the transmission is slipping and making a clunking noise which is going to require replacement with a new transmission. I bought this truck with 48,000 miles and it's my daily driver. This truck was not used to haul trailers with heavy loads. There should be a recall for the transmission on the 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500. I had a 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500, and It had no transmission issues with 275,000 miles on it when I traded it in.

Nov 14, 2022

Truck is at 130,000 and the transmission is about failing drastically. I have been telling the dealer that there was a problem with the transmission since 80-90k which the truck seemed to "slip" out of gear and slam into gear, was told that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I've heard that this year truck is known to have a bad transmission and nothing has been done to fix the issue.

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the RPM fluctuated and that the vehicle was jerking. After pulling over, the vehicle lost motive power. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle failed to restart and was then towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained with the mechanic unrepaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but a case was not filed. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

Oct 3, 2022

The vehicle has a faulty transmission. On numerous occasions the vehicle has issues going from first to second gear, causing a delay in acceleration. This is an issue when trying to turn left across traffic as you never know when the truck will pause leaving you in the way of oncoming traffic. Another incident happened on the highway where a very loud bang was heard and the truck was stuck in gear and wouldn't shift. Upon researching these issues o line it is apparent that this is a widespread issue in which GM acknowledges the problem, but says that's just the way it is and does not want to correct the issue.

Sep 16, 2022

When shifting into second gear truck will jerk sometimes. Can be hard enough that the stuck stops and tires squeal. Also have had transmission flushed and switched the the recommended transmission fluid and didn’t fix the shifting. Also had it stop moving completely, driving then had no power, rpm’s went high but wouldn’t accelerate. Had to have towed. Safety issue, almost rear ended multiple times due to transmission hard shifting. No power on the highway and had to pull over. Not safe!

Sep 12, 2022

Truck isn’t shifting after 2nd gear when warmed up. Shut it off for a few mins and it shifts fine. If driven more than 20 mins starts doing it again.

Sep 7, 2022

Transmission started to shudder, slip, and lose traction, driving on I-74 near Indianapolis. No indication of malfunction on driver display interface. Loss of power in any situation, on a Freeway, can place the vehicle occupants in a dangerous situation, and potentially cause accidents.

Aug 25, 2022

I had to replace the transmission and pay out of pocket because my transmission went out due to the recalls that was never sent to me and I was never notified until now.

Aug 20, 2022

There are two problems occuring that seem to be common with this vehicle. First the lifters in the engine have gone bad. Second, there is severe jerking and delays with the transmission going into gear.

Jul 28, 2022

Truck has hard downshift from 2nd to 1st gear. Has been serviced two times With module replacement and issue is not resolved.

Jul 9, 2022

Transmission has developed a shudder during acceleration. Rpm’s will jump as the issue is occurring. Feels like truck is almost hesitating.

Jun 28, 2022

At around 80,000 my transmission in my truck started given me problems. I now have to replace the entire transmission. I am the only owner of my truck. One pays a lot of money for a brand new truck only to have to pay $6,000 for a new transmission.

Jun 21, 2022

On June 12, 2022 I experienced a full blown transmission failure in my 2016 Chevrolet Silverado at 75,000 miles on the vehicle. The defect represents a safety risk to General Motors consumers and makes the vehicle equipped with the defective transmission unsafe and uncomfortable to drive. The transmission failed on a busy freeway creating unsafe conditions for myself, others in the vehicle and other motorists and top speed of 28 mph. . The vehicle is in for repairs currently and estimated cost of $5,400. As I researched the problem it became obvious that this is an ongoing problem with several model years of General Motors vehicles and the manufacturer is not taking corrective actions as needed. We should not wait for consumers to risk their lives and possibily loss of life before the problem is corrected with a recall for defective transmissions in these vehicles. Lets not let profits rule over consumer safety.

2/18/22- Sanborn Chevy in Lodi, CA Vehicle was towed in for transmission concern found that the transmission pump was whining found 4th thru 6th gear slipping. Dealership had to replace transmission. Upon talking to dealership informed me that they have been replacing a lot of 2015-2016 transmission with the same concern. I did contact GM Corp told me nothing they could do ... Repair order # 26319 the amount paid was $4559.65 Would like this to be investagated for transmission concerns

Feb 14, 2022

My vehicle has a very good service record. The transmission failed and had to be replaced at 93,800 miles. My research has revealed this is a common problem with this make/model. The transmission has been replaced and I have filed a claim with GMC. I do not have an extended warranty. However, this appears to be a common problem.

I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION HARD SHIFTING IN LOW GEAR. MAINLY FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. I ALSO EXPERIENCE A POWER LOSS WHILE MOVING AT VERY SLOW SPEED AND APPLYING THE GAS PEDAL. MOST OF THE ISSUES I AM EXPERIENCING HAPPENS WHILE MOVING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND WHEN TURNING FROM A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BUT THE PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED AND THEY STATED THAT THE HARD DOWNSHIFTS AND POWER LAG ARE DESIGN FEATURES TO PROTECT THE TRANSMISSION FROM SELF INFLICTED DAMAGE.

THE FIX IS TO REPLACE/REBUILD TRANSMISSION. REPAIR IS STATING THAT THEY ARE UPGRADING VARIOUS PARTS WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION TO PREVENT ISSUE IN THE FUTURE. I WAS DRIVING NORMALLY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED WANTING TO DOWNSHIFT FROM 5TH OR 6TH GEAR TO 2ND OR 3RD GEAR WHEN GOING UP A TINY INCLINE WHICH NORMALLY WOULDN'T BE CAUSE FOR ANY DOWNSHIFT. I SAW IT WAS FUNKY AND A MILE LATER, I LOST ALL POWER AND HAD A VARIETY OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS. I PULLED OVER, CLEARED THEM AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK. IT LET ME DRIVE IN FIRST GEAR FOR A LITTLE WHILE UNTIL I REACHED A STOPLIGHT AND COULD NOT GO ANYWHERE. TOWED THE VEHICLE OUT OF THE INTERSECTION THANKS TO MY FRIEND AND PUT IT ON A TOW TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PUMP FAILED AND EXPLODED, SENDING METAL CHUNKS ALL THROUGHOUT MY TRANSMISSION. THEY SAID IT WOULD COST $4500 FOR A GM REBUILT 6L-80 AS IT WAS AT 98K MILES AND WAS NO LONGER UNDER ANY WARRANTIES. I DRIVE VERY CAUTIOUSLY AND ALMOST NEVER ALLOW RPM'S TO GO ABOVE 2500, NEVER SHIFT FROM REVERSE OR DRIVE TO ANY OTHER GEARS UNLESS FULLY STOPPED, AND DO MOST OF MY DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. SO A MONTH LATER AND 4 GRAND LATER, MY TRUCK IS RUNNING AND DRIVING AGAIN.

DURING ACCELERATION, THE TRANSMISSION SURGES AND FEELS LIKE IT'S SLIPPING OR TRYING TO SHIFT WHEN IT SHOULDN'T. TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOW FAILING. STEERING IS HAVING ISSUES NOW, EITHER BAD TIE RODS OR BAD CV JOINTS. I HAVE HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING IN THE PAST. I SUSPECT THIS VEHICLE WAS IN A FLOOD AND THE DEALERSHIP COVERED IT UP. I HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS SINCE JANUARY OF 2019, AND I HAVE TEXT RECORDS STARTING APRIL 7TH 2019. RPM INCREASES BETWEEN 4 AND 5.5K BUT UNABLE TO ACCELERATION AFTER DESCENSION FROM HILL WHILE DRIVING ON I-17. IT APPEARS MY TRANSMISSION/GEARS SLIP FOLLOWING HILL DESCENTS. ON 6 OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING TO AND FROM MOAB, UTAH ON AUG 9-10, THE ENGINE REVS UP TO 4.5 - 5.5K AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL/DECLINE. I COULD NOT GET OUT OF THE GEAR OR PICK UP SPEED UPON ACCELERATION. BRAKING DID NOT STOP THE REVS. I JUST KEPT MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR UNTIL THE GEAR EVENTUALLY KICKED IN. OTHERWISE THE TRUCK RIDE AND DRIVE IS AMAZING AND NO OTHER PROBLEM EXCEPT GETTING ANNOYING GEAR CLUNKS NOW AND THEN, EVERY SINCE I PURCHASED IT. BACK IN 2017 MIDWAY CHEVY SAID THAT IS NOT A PROBLEM. WELL, I DROVE MY TRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY SINCE THE INCIDENT. THE PROBLEM REOCCURRED WHILE DESCENDING A VERY SMALL HILL IN ANTHEM. THIS TIME SPAN WAS MUCH SHORTER. I WANT TO MENTION THAT I HAVE DRIVEN MY TRUCK UP I-17 FROM ANTHEM, AZ TO FLAGSTAFF AND BEYOND AT LEAST 20 TIMES IN THE LAST 4 YEARS AND NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS. I DO NOT HAVE A FLOOR MAT OR ANYTHING ON THE DRIVER SIDE FLOOR OF THE TRUCK. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF TRANS FLUID LEAKING (ON GARAGE FLOOR ETC.), NO WAY TO CHECK MY TRANS FLUID LEVEL. NO MESSAGES SHOWED UP IN THE DIC (DRIVER INFO CTR), OR ON THE DASHBOARD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (MESSAGE CENTER) (I.E.: TRANSMISSION, SPEED, SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST, ETC.), NO DIAGNOSTIC WARNING AND THE AUGUST MONTHLY DIAGNOSTIC REPORT DID NOT REFLECT ANY PROBLEMS. I DON'T THINK ANY FEATURES WERE ACCIDENTALLY TURNED ON WHILE DRIVING (I.E.: TOW/HAUL, HDC, GRADE BRAKING ETC.) . THE PROBLEM CONTINUED AFTER TURNING TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTING, WHICH SHOULD DISENGAGE MOST FEATURES. I AM A 70 YEAR OLD WOMAN AND HAVEN;T DRIVEN THE TRUCK HARD OR NEVER HAULED ANYTHING. I AM 2K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY. WILL NEVER PAY 53K FOR A VEHICLE WITH SUCH A LOUSY DRIVE-TRAIN WARRANTY.

I HAVE A 2016 CHEVY SILVERADO HIGH COUNTRY 6.2L ENGINE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION 38,000 MILES. TRANSMISSION EITHER HESITATES OR SHIFTS ROUGHLY WHEN ACCELERATING. MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN THIS OCCURRED MAKING A TURN IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IF IT DECIDED TO HESITATE SHIFTING. GM HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM EXCEPT GIVE CUSTOMER MAGICAL FLUID FIXES THAT DON'T LAST IF THEY WORK AT ALL, THEY ARE NOW ON THE THIRD FLUID INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL FACTORY. THEY'VE BEEN TELLING CUSTOMERS THE TRANSMISSION JUST HAS TO RE-LEARN SHIFT PATTERNS FROM DAY ONE. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS ONE OF THESE TRUCKS AS WELL AND HAD ONE DEALER TELL HIM THAT'S JUST HOW THE TRUCK WORKS. AT APPROXIMATELY 32,000 MILES, AS I WAS ENTERING THE ON RAMP TO THE FREEWAY, I LOST FORWARD DRIVE. I COASTED TO A STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TRIED SEVERAL TIMES UNSUCCESSFULLY TO RESUME FORWARD MOTION OR EVEN REVERSE. THE ENGINE REVVED UP BUT NO MOVEMENT. AFTER GETTING THE TRUCK TOWED TO MY HOUSE, AND THEN TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, THE DEALERSHIP SPENT 2 DAYS DIAGNOSING THE TRANSMISSION BEFORE DETERMINING THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REMOVED FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. AFTER THEY REMOVED THE TRANSMISSION, THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE GEARS AND CLUTCH PACKS FOR GEARS 2 THROUGH 6 HAD BLOWN APART. THIS IS OF COURSE WAS ABSURD DUE TO THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE, THE MILEAGE AND THE FACT THAT I'VE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING WITH THE TRUCK OR ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF NORMAL EVERYDAY DRIVING. FORTUNATELY, IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY SO THE DEALER PROCEEDED TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. FAST FORWARD TO 60,000 MILES LATER AND OF COURSE THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS HAVE RETURNED. I BEGAN FEELING AN INTENSE VIBRATION THROUGH EVERY GEAR AND AT ALL SPEEDS, LONG, DELAYED AND FREQUENTLY VIOLENT SHIFTS BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND, 3RD AND 4TH GEARS, AND A STRANGE, NOISY IDLE. THIS WENT ON FOR A DAY WHICH, I THEN PARKED THE TRUCK AND SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, AFTER THE VIBRATIONS, CLUNKS AND DELAYED SHIFTS, I LOST FORWARD DRIVE AGAIN, ABOUT A HALF MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP. I MANAGED TO GET IT BACK IN DRIVE AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND CYCLING THE SHIFTER FROM PARK TO DRIVE, BUT THIS WOULD ONLY LAST THROUGH 2ND GEAR BEFORE LOSING DRIVE AGAIN. I REPEATED THIS ABOUT 4 TIMES WHICH WAS ENOUGH TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PREVENT HAVING TO WAIT AN HOUR TO BE TOWED 1/4 MILE. UNFORTUNATELY THE TRUCK IS NOW OUTSIDE OF THE 5 YEAR 60,000 MI POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. EXPECTING TO RECEIVE A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT TOMORROW. *TR

I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2016 SILVERADO IN 2016 AND HAVE PUT 72000 (HIGHWAY) MILES ON IT. TOOK IT IN TO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP BECAUSE OF A TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AND HESITATING WHILE ACCELERATING AND WHINE RIGHT BEFORE SHIFTING TO THE NEXT GEAR. TORQUE CONVERTER IS FAILING SENDING METAL SHAVINGS THROUGH MY TRANSMISSION AND DESTROYING IT. A BILL OF GREATER THAN 5500 FOR THIS TRANSMISSION IS ABSURD BUT NOT AS CRAZY AS A 3 YEAR OLD TRANSMISSION FAILING ON YOU.

EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY TRUCK IN EARLY 2017, THE 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR AT LOW SPEEDS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY HARD. IT CHANGES SO HARD, IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE STRUCK MY TRUCK FROM BEHIND, AND SHAKES THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. THIS HARD SHIFT WILL TAKE PLACE ON AN UPSHIFT AND DOWNSHIFT. ON THE DOWNSHIFT, MY TRUCK WILL LERCH FORWARD, CONCERNING ME THAT I MAY STRIKE ANOTHER VEHICLE UNINTENTIONALLY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP REGARDING THE PROBLEM ON AT LEAST 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE LAST OCCASION, THE CHIEF MECHANIC CALLED ME AND SAID IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, AND CHEVROLET HAS NO INTENTION OF FIXING IT. HE EXPLAINED IT INVOLVED THE TORQUE CONVERTER, AND CHEVROLET HAS MOVED ON FROM THAT TRANSMISSION. HE ALSO STATED THAT MY TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE DAMAGED FROM THE SHIFT. ONE SERVICE REP. STATED TO ME THAT MY WARRANTY IS GOOD FOR 100,000 MILES, SO DON'T WORRY. HOW CAN I DRIVE A VEHICLE, WHEN PASSENGERS BECOME FRIGHTENED FROM THE HARD SHIFT. MOST RECENTLY IT HAS STARTED TO SHUDDER THROUGH THE FIRST FEW GEARS AND IS EXTREMELY BOTHERSOME TO DRIVE. THE DEALERSHIP HAS MADE IT CLEAR THAT CHEVROLET HAS NO INTENTION ON FIXING THE "KNOWN" PROBLEM, WHICH IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE SERVICE RECORDS UPON REQUEST.

I HAVE HAD THIS HARD JERKING AND SLAMMING OF MY TRANSMISSION IN MY TRUCK SINCE I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. IT OCCURS WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT WILL HESITATE AND NOT GO INTO GEAR AND THEN IT SLAMS AND JERKS THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY WITH A ALOUD CRACK NOISE OF THE GEARS SLAMMING TOGETHER. IT ALSO OCCURS WHEN I AM IN BETWEEN THE SPEED OF 40-50 MPH. I WILL BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE TRUCK WILL SLAM INTO GEAR WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO HAD A VERY HIGH IDOL AND SHAKES THE TRUCK. I HAVE BROUGHT MY TRUCK INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR THESE ISSUE 5+ TIMES NOW AND CONTACTS THE GM TO HELP GET MY ISSUE SOLVED AND THEY JUST CAN'T NOT FIX THE ISSUE. I DON'T WANT TO GET STRANDED WITH MY FAMILY IF THE TRANSMISSION DECIDED TO BREAK OR CAUSE TROUBLE. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES OF THIS ISSUE HAPPENING.

THE TRANSMISSION SHUTTERS, RADLES, AND PINGS UPON LIGHT ACCELERATION. IT HAS A DELAY BEFORE DOWN SHIFTING, IT OCCASIONALLY MAKES A LOUD CLUNK WHEN PUTTING INTO DRIVE I DONT KNOW IF THE AFM HAS PART IN THESE ISSUES. IF YOU DRIVE WITH HARD ACCELERATION THEN IT ONLY PINGS SOMETIMES AND KIND OF SOUNDS LIKE AN OLDER 80 MODEL V8 WITH A TIMING KNOCK. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND IT HAD BEEN DOING IT FOR THE LAST 6K MILES. IF YOU MANUALLY SHIFT THE TRANSMISSION IT LIMITS THE ISSUE.

I HAD JUST GOTTEN HOME AFTER VISITING MY PARENTS WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY 100 MILES (1 HOUR AND 45 MINUTES) AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AND I HAD NO ISSUES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY BRAKES. THE DRIVE WAS MOSTLY ALL HIGHWAY WITH AN AVERAGE SPEED LIMIT OF 65 AND 75 MPH. I WENT TO PARK MY TRUCK AT MY HOUSE IN WHICH I BACK INTO MY PARKING SPOT AT HOME. WHEN I WENT TO STOP, MY TRUCK'S BRAKES WORKED PROPERLY BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN REVERSE TO BACK INTO THE SPOT, THAT IS WHEN I WENT TO GO BREAK, THE BRAKES NEEDED MORE FORCE APPLIED TO THE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. I THEN PUT MY TRUCK INTO DRIVE TO SEE IF THE PROBLEM WAS ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE OR ALL THE TIME. I DROVE IT A FEW FEET FORWARDS AND BACK A FEW TIMES AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS ISSUED A DOCUMENT (PIT5361D) REGARDING THIS ISSUE BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THE FIRST SET OF BRAKE PADS WERE GM REPLACEMENT, THEY DID NOT STOP THE TRUCK AS WELL AS THE ORIGINAL. SO I REPLACED THE PADS WITH RAYBESTOS BRAKE PADS, STILL NOT SATISFIED WITH THE STOPPING DISTANCE. AGAIN I WENT WITH NAPA CERAMIC PADS THEY CAUSED THE BREAKS TO SQUEAL WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. NOW MY MECHANIC HAS REPLACED THEM WITH O RELLY NAME PADS AND THE STOPPING DISTANCE IS STILL INCREASING. THE OTHER PROBLEM WAS AROUND 58,000 MILES MY TRUCK BEGAN SHIFTING HARD AND JERKING. WHEN I TOOK IT TO DEACON JONES CHEVROLET IN SMITHFIELD NC, THEY REPLACED THE TORQUE CONVERTER AT NO CHARGE. NOW AT 63,000 MILES ITS DOING THE SAME THING. GM STATES EVEN IF THEY REPLACED THE PART THE WARRANTY ONLY COVERS TO 60,000. MILES. WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE PART WARRANTY SAME RESPONSE 60,000 MILES. CHECKING WITH SEVERAL MECHANICS IN THE AREA AND ON LINE BOTH INCIDENCES SEEMS TO BE A REOCCURRING PROBLEM FOR PEOPLE WHO OWN TRUCKS OF THIS PERIOD. PLEASE CHECK INTO THIS.

THE 2016 SILVERADO HAS A PROGRAMMING ISSUE FOR THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I DRIVE UNDER A LOAD GOING UP A HILL IT CHUGS LIKE I HAVE A MISS FIRE ISSUE. THE PROGRAMMING IS SET SO IT STAYS IN THE HIGHEST GEAR FOR TO LONG WHEN DRIVING IN CITY CONDITIONS. IT STAYS IN 6TH GEAR GOING 25-30MPH AND WHEN YOU NEED THE THROTTLE. THE TRANSMISSION CAN'T DECIDE WHICH GEAR TO BE IN. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I WENT TO PULL OUT OF A SIDE ROAD ONTO A MAIN ROAD AND THE TRUCK FELL FLAT ON ITS FACE LIKE I HIT A KILL SWITCH AND IT ALL MOST CAUSED ME TO GET T-BONED. I HIT THE THROTTLE MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT DECIDED IT WAS GOING TO 100% THROTTLE AND HAVE ME GOING OUT SIDEWAYS ONTO THE MAIN ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED IT TO BE A PROGRAMMING ISSUE, BUT THERE IS NO FIX FROM GM AND THE DEALER CAN'T DO ANYTHING WITH IT BECAUSE OF EPA LAWS, BUT THERE ARE AFTERMARKET TUNERS THAT ADDRESS THIS VERY ISSUE AND FIXES THE PROBLEM AND ALSO VOIDS WARRANTY OF THE TRUCK. IT'S HAD THE ISSUE SINCE THE 2ND WEEK I'VE OWNED IT FROM NEW. THE DEALER TOLD ME TO KEEP CALLING GM TO COMPLAIN, BUT ALL GM DOES IS SEND ME TO THE DEALER. WHERE I'M TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. IT IS AN ONGOING ISSUE AND IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH IF IT HASN'T ALL READY. I HAVE 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE AUTO TECHNICIAN FIELD AND MY FAMILY COMBINED OVER 100 YEARS. YOU KNOW THE ISSUE IS BAD WHEN A BEGINNER DRIVER NOTICES THE ISSUE. IF YOU HAVE A LOCAL PERSON. I'D BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO TAKE THEM FOR A RIDE TO SHOW THEM. FOR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. IT STARTED IN 2ND WEEK OF JULY TO PRESENT. IT ONLY HAD AROUND 300 MILES WHEN IT STARTED.

TRANSMISSION SHUDDER OCCURRED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IN SEPTEMBER 2017. GM TECHNICIANS SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND IT. SHUDDER SPREAD TO ALL SPEEDS - ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS GOING UPHILL. TRUCK WOULD LURCH FORWARD FROM GEAR TO GEAR AND GENERALLY RUN WITH A CONSTANT VIBRATION. IN DECEMBER 2017 GM TECHNICIAN REPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND DIAGNOSED IT AS A MALFUNCTIONING TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS VEHICLE (2016 SILVERADO) HAS ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS ASSOCIATED WITH THE "CHEVY SHAKE", AN UNRESOLVABLE DRIVELINE UNDER SEAT VIBRATION THAT IS VERY SEVERE AT TIMES. GM HAS ISSUED SERVICE BULLETIN PI1354C WHICH I FOLLOWED AT MY EXPENSE TO REDUCE / ELIMINATE THE SEVERE SHAKE THAT OCCURS AT SPEEDS OF 69 ' 79 MPH WITH NO IMPROVEMENT. I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY MATTER WHEN A VEHICLE SHAKES TO THE EXTENT OF DRIVER DISTRACTION AND THERE ARE DANGERS ASSOCIATED WITH THE LONG TERM EFFECT ON SAFETY COMPONENTS THAT ARE SUBJECT SEVERE SHAKING THAT THEY WOULDN'T OTHERWISE BE SUBJECTED TO UNDER NORMAL DURABILITY TESTING. I DO NOT FEEL "IN CONTROL" WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE SEVERE SHAKING OCCURS AT 69MPH. I BELIEVE THAT SINCE THIS IS AN ONGOING BUILD ISSUE WITH THOUSANDS OF DOCUMENTED COMPLAINTS GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE AND PROVIDE RELIEF TO GM TRUCK OWNERS.

SINCE PUTTING ON THE NEW TIRES AND WHEELS THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE AND I HAVE HAD IT AT A GM DEALER TWICE AND MY THIRD APPOINTMENT IN ON 4-5-17 AT A DIFFERENT DEALER SINCE THE FIRST ONE DOES NOT SEEM TO BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAID IT WAS HAPPENING WITH THE STOCK WHEELS AND TIRES. THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN FOR THE SILVERADO WITH THE 6.2 TRANSMISSION WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. I CALLED THE SERVICE TECH WHO HAS MY TRUCK AND HE SAID "YOUR TRUCK DOESN'T HAVE THAT TRANSMISSION." I SAID "I REALIZE THAT RICH...HOWEVER IT IS THE SAME ISSUE." HE SAID AS SOON AS THEY GET THE NEW TIRE IN THEY ARE GOING TO TEST DRIVE IT SOME MORE. DID I MENTION THEY HAVE HAD IT FIVE DAYS THIS TIME AND THEY STILL DON'T HAVE A TIRE. ISSUE 1 - TRANSMISSION: THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS A 6-SPEED TRANSMISSION THAT CLUNKS / HARD SHIFTS (VERY HARD). GM INDICATES THAT THIS IS NORMAL AND/OR THE TRANSMISSION IS ADAPTING TO YOUR DRIVING STYLE. THE CLUNK IS VERY DISTRACTION (STARTLING) WHEN DRIVING. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO HESITATES IN SELECTING GEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE INTO TRAFFIC. ON TWO OCCASION, I ATTEMPTED TO MERGE ON TO THE INTERSTATE AND THE DELAYED TRANSMISSION ENGAGEMENT ALMOST RESULTED IN A COLLISION. ISSUE 2 - ENGINE: THE CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS AN ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT THAT DROPS THE TRUCK DOWN TO 4 CYLINDERS. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE ENTIRE TRUCK WILL VIBRATE / REVERBERATE CAUSING HEADACHES. I AM HAVING AN ISSUE WITH MY NEW 2016 SILVERADO AND A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED WITH AROUND 340 MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD THEY COULD DO NOTHING UNTIL I HAD 1000 MILES ON THE TRUCK (THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT GET PAID BY CHEVY FOR WARRANTY ITEMS). THAT TICKET STATED THEY REBALANCED MY TIRES. THIS HAD NO CHANGE. I TOOK THE TRUCK BACK AFTER 1000 MILES. THE DEALER DID A ROAD FORCE BALANCE. THIS HELPED VERY LITTLE. NOW, AT 1345 MILES, IT IS BACK IN THE SHOP. THEY STATE THEY WILL DO A PICOSCOPE ON THE TRUCK AND CHECK THE AXLE. I SHOULD MENTION THE UNDERLYING ISSUE IS A VIBRATION THAT CAN BE FELT AT SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 65-70MPH. IT IS MORE PREVALENT FROM 70-75MPH. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM, REFERENCE CASE 82405350103. THIS APPEARS TO BE THE SAME ISSUE FOR THE 2014-2015 MODELS REFERRED TO AS THE "CHEVY SHAKE". ONE MORE ATTEMPT AND I WILL LIKELY START LEMON LAW PROCEDURES IN GA. I WOULD LIKE SOMEONE TO SERIOUSLY INVESTIGATE GM ON THIS COMPLAINT. A DESCRIPTION OF EACH OF THE THREE MAJOR ISSUES ARE OUTLINED BELOW: 1)DURING INITIAL BREAKING THE TRUCK WILL BEGIN TO SLOW DOWN AS INTENDED AND WITHOUT WARNING IT ABRUPTLY ACCELERATES/SLIDES FORWARD (SEE BREAKING PROFILES). THIS TYPICALLY HAPPENS BETWEEN 10-20 MPH. 2)DURING BREAKING JUST BEFORE COMING TO A STOP I EXPERIENCE A HARD JERK OR SHUDDER (SEE BREAKING PROFILES). 3)DURING A 'COLD' START, IN THE MORNING OR AFTER WORK, THE TRANSMISSION WILL SOMETIMES SLIP AND SHIFT HARD WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY/PARKING LOT.
