The rear window of my 2017 Chevy Silverado exploded. I had the rear defrosters on, and they malfunctioned. I thought I smelled something hot before this happened. I am surprised this didn't cause a fire. I have researched this issue, and it appears to be an ongoing problem with the 2014 - 2019 Silverado and Sierra trucks. In fact, Canada has a recall on this issue, but the U.S. does not. Why is that?
After starting the vehicle. I heard a hissing noise coming from the rear of the cabin. I looked in the rear view mirror and saw a large amount smoke rising from the box where the rear defroster power connects to the window. I immediately shut the vehicle off, got out and walked around the passenger side of the vehicle. As I approached the passenger rear door, the rear passenger window exploded with a Loud pop, shooting glass across the bed of the truck. I know there is currently a recall for this issue in Canada.
When driving all gauges go to zero, truck doesn’t illuminate which gear it’s in, warning lights come on (service 4WD, service stabilitrak, service traction control, reduced power steering, service traction control, service trailer brake system ). When NOT driving if these issues show on the dash when parked and the car doesn’t illuminate which gear it’s in, it does not crank over, does not start, there is no clicking noise either like if it was a bad starter. All the dash lights, gauges, radio goes black as if I turn the vehicle off instead of on. This has been happening since around 2020-2021 in Colorado. It was in a shop for over a month with no resolution. In Idaho in 2022-2024 in a shop for a month with no resolution, and now CA in 2025. No mechanic shop can figure out what is wrong, no “certified GM” shop or “certified GM engineer/technician can tell me what’s wrong. I have had the following replaced already and still having issues. Body Control Module (BCM), the Transfer Case control Module (TCCM), and the Brake Control Module (BCM).
Issue is based off of this service bulletin, but GM has failed to call a recall on this for coverage. I was driving my daughter to softball practice. Every few minutes there would be a "stabilitrak" message showing on the driving information area. Then in slower speeds my dashboard screen would blank out and then go back to CarPlay. Then once I approached a parking lot at slower speeds my vehicle lost total power and shut down. Then had to switching the gear to park, then turn off the ignition key, then wait a few seconds and turn the key on to start the truck. It started as normal and was able to park in the parking space. Very scary and this is a very serious issue, I could have been in an accident with my daughter. This has to be addressed, I can't be the only one having this issue.
Electronic brakes lock up during driving. No power going to rear wheels.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving or while the vehicle was parked and occupied, while depress the horn, the horn failed to operate. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle, but the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure started in 2023. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed and determined that the horn had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the failure had occurred on several occasions. The contact stated that the vehicle had been repaired once. The horn was replaced the first time; however, with the current failure the horn was not yet replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000.
Mileage: 155,000
Unknown system or component failure. Vehicle is available upon request to inspect. My families safety was at risk, power steering goes out while driving, all service lights come on, vehicle goes into “limp mode”, would go in and out of gear while driving, gears won’t work properly (P,R,D…), when shifting into R camera won’t come on. This problem is continuing. Have not been able to get it into dealership. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, dealership, or insurance. Stabilitrak notification, and all service lights go off. No problem or symptoms prior to failure. Vehicle was well maintained and I have service records of every repair, oil change, etc.
Electronics for hands free stopped working. This part was already replaced once. When backing up, the whole truck shut down. I restarted, it said to roll drivers side window down and up. Truck started up again. Few days later... returning from trip, lost power, windshield wipers came on, electronics in truck started blinking. Pulled over, rolled driver's side window up and down. started back on road. This has happened numerous times. Whenever I gave it extra gas, asking for power to pass, same thing mentioned above happened. Very stressful! Next day, hit a hole, truck totally shut down again. Husband was able to safely coast off road, however, if he had been pulling out at a major intersection, this could have been bad. Warning light that comes with shutdown says "stabltrack issue". I have not seen our dealer service department yet, but plan to very soon. VERY unsafe... and I love this truck!!!!
The AFM system is a faulty system that starved my lifters of oil and they ended up collapsing causing a flat spot on my cam. The engine code would come up as a misfire but the code is caused by the flat spot created on the cam by the lifter it's a faulty system that cost me $7,000. My 8spd transmission also has a hard shift from 1st to 2nd pushing the vehicle forward and jerking it when it shifts. The dealer and GM said this was natural with this type of transmissions which we now know is a lie.
At night when in reverse, the dash camera does not dim as the rest of the dash does. The screen is far too bright inside the passenger compartment and you cannot safely maneuver the vehicle. There is no manual adjustments available.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while in a drive-through, he noticed a smoky odor. The contact stated that he looked through the rearview mirror and noticed that smoke was coming from the rear window of the vehicle. The contact exited the vehicle and inspected the rear window. The contact noticed an inch-long fire at the bottom of the rear window. The contact was able to blow the fire away. The contact stated that upon entering the vehicle, the rear window shattered. No warning lights were illuminated. A fire report was not filed. A police report was not filed. There was no injury sustained. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer referred the contact to the dealer for the vehicle inspection. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the vehicle inspection was performed, and the diagnostic report was sent to the manufacturer for claim purposes. The contact was not provided with the diagnosis information. The manufacturer later informed the contact that the claim was denied after reviewing the facts of the case's capital investigation. The manufacturer referred the contact to the insurance company for assistance. The contact stated that he was afraid of driving the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 53,500.

I was parked at a gas pump, just got done fueling, hung hose up. I quickly ran into the gas station to grab a drink and as temps are 0°F, I remote started my vehicle from check out counter. When I returned to my vehicle the cab was filling with smoke. I sprung into action and quickly but safely drove away from gas pump with very little visibility, due to smoke, I assessed what was going on. Upon further investigating where the fire was coming from, I Could see the smoke was billowing from my rear window. As I Went to check on window heater that turns on automatically with remote start, the windows left panel exploded in my face from the outside of truck. Minor glass cuts, no major injuries. No insurance claims filed, no emergency services called as after I extinguished fire and turned off vehicle smoke seemed to have dissipated enough to safely get home 4 minutes away. As preventive messures I pulled the fuse to the rear window defroster so it is no longer getting power. This is seriously a safety hazard and thankfully I was able to pull away from gas pump. My truck, not so lucky. After looking into the issue when I got home, the US has NOT filed a recall on rear window defrosters for truck years 2014-2019. Canada DOES have a recall for this issue. As it has happened to me in the US in a very scary manor this needs to be addressed. I can’t imagine what would have happened if I was driving with kids in the rear seat. This needs to be taken care of and not at owners expense. Americans buy new vehicles to feel safe and secure. After owning my vehicle I have second thoughts about owning new, especially if a fire happens due to electronics built into the vehicle. I pray we can have this issue resolved to save all the innocent GM truck owners with families and friends who would also like to feel safe in their trucks. With temps this low in New England, I would like to be able to use my window defroster and have safer fields of view in icy/snowy conditions.
Rear defrost shorted and shattered the glass.
"Trailer Brake System Service" message continuously displays across the digital cluster menu while I drive.
2 times total electrical and engine failure while driving.
As I was driving I received a call while my phone was plugged in to the USB charging port and as I answered the call all the gauges on my dash, as well as the radio and all my warning lights shut off and turned back on and calibrated as if I first started the vehicle and reset. Then the radio and things wouldn't work. I had to pull over shut off the truck and restart it. This has happened 2 times already in less than as year I contacted the dealer and they really don't seem to care and keep putting me off or telling me they will call me which never happens. As of writing this still not fixed.
This is a complaint in regards to the trailer breaking system in my certified pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado that I purchased in April of this year, 2024. I purchased this truck in particular for its high ratings in safety and towing capabilities. (April- May 2024) While towing a 22ft trailer from Virginia to Washington state, there were several moments where the “service trailer braking system” alert would appear on the dash. Driving on the interstate for days on end is twice as stressful when you have to wonder if your trailer brakes are reliable. If the trailer brakes were to suddenly stop working it would be dangerous for me and my passengers, as well as those around me on the road. (Sept- Oct 2024) We aren’t towing a trailer anymore, but the “service trailer braking system” light has been going off every couple minutes.
I am filing a complaint regarding an electrical fire in the junction box of my 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500. The issue began when the front passenger side marker light would not turn off. I disconnected the battery overnight to troubleshoot the problem. However, when I reconnected the battery the next morning, an electrical fire occurred in the fuse junction box under the hood. At the same time, the engine unexpectedly attempted to turn over and start on its own. I immediately disconnected the battery again to stop the fire. Upon inspection, I found that several wires, plugs, and the top half of the junction box had sustained significant damage.
Engine shuts down on its own causing steering wheel to jerk and almost locks preventing control. Has been doing this for three weeks and is now getting much worse. Seems to do when making slow speed sharp turn. Almost hit another car in intersection yesterday due to steering control loss. I have seen numerous mentions of this on the internet but seems GM does not have a fix. The truck is now dangerous to drive as it can completely shut down in the middle of an intersection.
My vehicle radio goes crazy, but oddly the speedometer goes away as well. I was able to get it back by turning radio off completely, but this should be a recall issue. Please help.
Trailer brake service message appears on dash and integrated trailer brake will not work. While towing heavy load system stopped working. Took to dealer. was told there was a bad wire in harness. Remedy was to cut wire and run new wire from front to back and recut at plug. worked for one year. happened again this year. have not had repaired again.
What happens is my "ABS light" comes on and when I pull into the driveway... the truck shuts everything off. Locks the wheel!!! Lights off!! It's deadly seriously!!! Stabilitrak stops the truck from moving!!! This needs fixed bad!
We Bought a Chevy Silverado 1500 truck used in Nov 2021for purpose of towing RV trailer. In having axel bearings packed on trailer March [XXX], 2024, the RV mechanic noticed no wear or brake dust. He checked and determined RV brakes had never engaged and found no power to the RV brakes in the plug in port on back of truck. Took to dealer, Chesrown in Delaware Ohio, on [XXX], 2024. After having truck all day they said issue was brake modulator which they reprogrammed. We hooked up RV trailer and brakes still do not work. Hand brake controller on dash will engage the trailer brakes , but not the foot brake. In researching online, there is a great deal of discussion about GM knowing about and not addressing the issue. There’s a known defect in a wiring harness between two of the body control modules. This part is known for broken wires and for connective issues. We reached out to GM Customer service at 800-222-1020, who took our information and said they would contact the dealer. We took truck in today and explained again what the issue was and what we had learned from our research. There are currently several recalls on 2022 and 2023 Silverados for the same trailer brake issues. GM needs to take responsibility for this critical service issue!! We CAN NOT tow a RV trailer WITHOUT BRAKES! When we asked the service manager why the tow package was not part of the inspection process when they took the vehicle in and placed it for sale as a used vehicle, he said they don’t do that. Seems to us, that when a dealer sells a vehicle, all parts should be in working order. Especially with a factory installed tow package. PLEASE research and contact GM and have them issue a RECALL on ALL of their vehicles with factory tow packages to ensure the safety of all of those driving them! You will find numerous forums online where the biggest complaint is the trailer brake system not working and people very frustrated with the lack of response from not only GM but the dealers. THANK YOU! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM O
While turning vehicle at slow speeds the trailer warning,no trailer on vehicle, stability control hill assist radio and steering stop working as well as vehicle will stall out. Depending on when it happens it may stall while turning into traffic. I have searched the issue and found there is a ground problem under dash near windshield. It has happened multiple times like 15 as of this date.
The radio/ my link is way to bright and there is no option to dim it. This makes an eye distraction and hard to see the road at night. there are many post about this concern online.
Stalling with no power transmission is putting me at risk since I first purchased this vehicle. Transmission needs to be replaced because of the defective drive shaft on all 2017 models . Really serious problem with a hard shift and multiple misfire. Just not sure what to do at this point. I’m still paying for a truck that’s not working.
Rear window drefroster began smoking. Pulled over and exited truck noticed defroster was glowing red. Window then shattered. This is a power slide window. Drivers side.
Failure of integrated wiring harness for trailer brake control. Wires broken, corroded and with brittle and cracked insulation causing trailer brakes to not engage thus creating a dangerous and possibly deadly condition for driver and others on the road.
The power sliding rear window circuit heated up so much that it produced smoke and shattered the rear window.
Complete loss of electrical system power and engine power, vehicle stalls and Coast to a stop. This has happened seven different times in the last 4000 miles driven. Possibly due to faulty ground connection electric power steering system and or stabilitrak I don't know but it is very dangerous. And there has been many other people experiencing this on Silverado Facebook groups.
Before leaving the house, it sounded like a static noise was coming from the speakers. I turned the radio off and the noise was still there. I get out of the truck to check the back seat area (where the noise was coming from). I put my ear near the window and it almost sounded like a can of something was being sprayed. It was weird, because nothing was in the back of the cab. Anyway, I thought "that's weird" and drove off, not giving it much thought. As I was walking to the truck at Sam's Club, I hit the automatic start. While loading the groceries in the truck, the noise now sounded like a sizzling, snapping sound. Then, I noticed few snowflakes landing near the back window were causing that sound. Again, I thought "that is so weird"!! I put the cart back, got in the truck and started it. At that point, it smelled like something was burning. I jumped out and opened the back door to get a closer look. While trying to figure out what was going on, smoke started coming up from both sides of the back windshield. I ran to the front to take the keys out of the ignition and then the window exploded!! I was so scared to start the truck again, wondering what else was about to happen. Thankfully, I was able to get it home with no other issues. It's now at the dealership getting looked at. They mentioned no recalls, but a quick google search shows that this is clearly an issue!! In 2019, Canada actually recalled over 159,000 vehicles over the high potential of catching on fire!!! After learning this, I'm so happy it didn't actually catch on fire!!
Not exactly sure of the root cause but the glass shop said it appeared that the rear defrosting element on my 2017 Chevy Silverado shorted out, became extremely hot and caused my rear window to shatter. Some documents that I read stated that the electrical connections could corrode over time and short out. I read that Canada does have a recall for this same problem.
Two times now when driving, vehicle has randomly lost all power. First time there was no warning of any sort of problem. Second time was on the express way running just fine, then all of a sudden engine light started flashing, and stabilatrac light up on dash. was able to get off right away. turned right Into a office complex and shut right off. after 3 minutes got power back and was able to get it safely in a parking spot, but then it started running rough, like multiple cylinder miss fire
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle was remotely started. The contact's husband entered the vehicle and turned on the rear defrost. The contact stated that her seven-month-old infant was seated on the passenger side rear seat. The contact's husband noticed a burning odor on the interior of the vehicle and smoke was coming from the rear passenger’s side rear window. The vehicle was turned off and the infant was removed from the vehicle immediately. The contact stated that she had noticed the odor of burning odor in the interior of the vehicle shortly after the vehicle was purchased. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was scheduled for a service appointment in several weeks. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised that the failure was normal wear and tear. The failure mileage was approximately 123,298.

Rear window defrost almost caught fire about 10 min into drive smoke emitted from near rear window and got worse and worse until I found the cause and shut off the rear defrost. Smokey electrical smell filled the interior.
Vehicle has abrupt, unexpected power failures and/or issues with "Stabilitrak" that causes immediate engine shut-off at highway speeds and/or causes the steering wheel to jerk unexpectedly potentially causing a run-in with traffic
An electrical issue of uncertain origin involving the stabilitrack system that causes the truck to jerk a different direction or stop completely in unexpected fashion
The Stabilitrak system is malfunctioning on my vehicle. It does it intermittently but can be available for inspection. When the stabilitrak system malfunctions, the vehicle will either shut down completely while driving, violently jerk the wheel to one side, or it shorts out the system for brief seconds while driving. Once the system malfunctions the "Stabilitrack" warning light comes on as well as the check engine light and traction control light. I have had the truck looked at on more than one occasion. The dealership I purchased it from first said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle, but after showing them the video they came down to a bad power steering control module. I am having a second mechanic look at it to see if there is another solution. I have been reading this is a common problem on these vehicles and it is caused by a bad ground under the dash.
18V586. GM's own number for this recall is 18289. These are for the 2015 Silverado’s . The 2017 Silverado 1500 are doing the same thing as the recall from above describes . My wife had almost accidents cause of this . I almost had an accident today as well getting off the freeway . I know a lot of people are having these problems as well . Gm needs to own up to this mistake they did with these trucks . They should be held responsible for this defect on this truck .
The trailer brakes light keeps coming on for no reason at all times
Dear NHTSA, The truck has lost electrical power several times over the past few months but only 3 times while driving. Today it completely shutdown while making a right hand turn at a busy intersection causing the loss of power steering and braking while narrowly missing a car waiting for the traffic light It took both hands to turn the wheel and both feet to push the brake pedal enough to stop on the shoulder. Prior to this latest incident I removed the engine compartment splash pan, checked the starter and ground connections and all seemed well. I then unplugged, cleaned and reconnected all electrical connections in the engine compartment and fuse box. The complete shutting down of a vehicle and its electric system while driving is a very dangerous matter. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Service Power Steering message comes on and off at random time. Almost got into a accident a couple of times. One example is I was getting off the freeway and the exit made a U shape turn. The Power Steering message came on and I lost power steering and it became so hard to steer. The wheel almost jerked out of my hand and almost went straight into the wall had to use my whole body to turn the steering wheel. Checked grounds and connections all that seem good also checked for codes and there were no active codes
While driving down the highway in a torrential rain the wipers just stopped working. They were cutting on and off and now do not work at all. The problem appears to be in the engine compartment fuse block which is not servicable. It is currently not fixed and could be inspected. We could not see 50 feet in front of us and were blindly following the car in front of us. It hasent been to the dealer yet as the truck is out of warrenty and it would not be covered. This came without any warning lamps or messages.
I have had numerous repairs to electrical components in the truck. Most recently I have been getting the same wiring harness repaired on and off for almost 5 months now along with various modules that it damages. The dealer makes the repair and then after anywhere from 100 to 1000+ miles later the check engine light will come back on or another error message like Service Trailer Braking System. Wires keep breaking in the harness and the dealer keep repairing them. The dealer has been very good about this. This last time they repaired a broken wire and 2 more broke during the repair and had to be spliced. There is obviously a defect in this wiring harness. I have been in contact with GM but the truck is out of warranty and they do not seem willing to help out much. They suggested I trade it in, I just paid it off less than a year ago, and have put thousands of dollars in repair and maintenance into it since then.
Rear defrost/sliding window began to smoke. Eventually, rear window exploded and shattered with a very loud noise. The noise was so loud it had my ears ringing and unfortunately happened also while I was driving down the road which cased me to swerve abruptly. Fortunately, I was able to steady myself and pull of the road. Prior to the explosion, there was smoke coming from the window that was continuing to intensify in my rear view window as I was driving. I pulled over into a cemetary quickly and noticed the rear defrost button was lit. I quickly depressed it to kill the electrical current to see if it would stop the smoking from the window. It did then disapate. I took off driving again presuming I stopped the issue. Within seconds the right side glass panel in the rear window exploded. The vehicle or component has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center yet. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance reps., as of yet but it will be shortly.
Was driving down the road at 65 and the truck shut down completely and had control of steering that time. Put truck in neutral and it restarted. Then was in a gas station getting gas then went to pull out after filling up and the wheels jerked and almost broke my wrist the instrument cluster said stibilatrac and shut down. Went to restart then the instrument panel said lower driver window then close . It did this one more time in the gas station parking lot.
Rear defrost malfunctioned causing rear window to blow out smoke filled cab plastic started to melt I am in possession of vehicle it available for inspection in driveway at time buy sounded like a 22 going off behind my head had it at Brunswick auto mart for a week and told they can’t do anything dash had no indications at that time or after
I believe the General Motors Video Display Module Digitizer has a design flaw that affects vehicle safety. This is the appliance in the center of the dashboard to the right side of the driver controlling audio and clock operations. It is a large touch screen. Also, the instrument cluster located over the steering wheel is affected. This is the digital display that reports vehicle velocity, tire pressure, gas mileage. What are the symptoms? During vehicle operation, the video display to the driver's side will randomly cycle through alternate operations not requested by the user. For example, while listening to radio station "A", the unit will switch to radio station "B". Then, the clock will be displayed in "full screen mode". Then, the unit initiates phone calls to people from my contacts list on my phone. In addition, the display unit over the steering wheel is connected to the side unit and will randomly change display. Each time these units change operation, the system emits an audible beep. All this is distracting and increases the workload of the driver (talking on the phone while driving trying to explain that you didn't mean to call the person), thus representing a safety hazard while driving. While the misbehavior comes and goes, at its worst, the unit will change operation a few times per minute. I made a video of the misbehavior, which I can share with you upon request. The behavior is reproducible. Why do I say this is a design flaw requiring NHTSA safety recall? The unit is relatively new but past its warranty period: the vehicle has 57,000 miles. And multiple vehicle owners are affected: see web sites containing reports from other owners reporting the same problem with their relatively new vehicles: https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/252750-touch-screen-has-a-mind-of-its-own/ https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/255203-touch-screen-problems/ GM charges $900 to install a new unit, but I believe the problem is a design flaw and will occur again.
While turning out of a parking space. I went into reverse, when I tried to turn the steering wheel it turned the other direction. The dash went dim, stabilitrac message came on the information display and the truck completely shut off. I had no lights no anything. I popped the hood touched the +battery terminal and lights came back on. Was able to drive home
Rear sliding widow automatic defroster caught fire filled truck with smoke causing driver to make emergency stoppage and open windows to clear deadly smoke condition to breathe when glass shatteted and created loud noise and danger of shattered glass to rear passengers. Recall in Canada for same exact dangerous rear window defect.
The display on the radio touches itself. It will constantly change screens. It opens apps. It trys to make calls and send text. It is become a safety issue in the fact that it is constantly drawing my attention from the road. The center of the screen no longer is touchable, it doesn't recognize input. This is an issue alot of chevy customers are having.
The " service trailer brake system" light has been coming on for about 3 yrs in my truck. I have asked the dealer about this, and all I hear is it will cost me about $200 just to find out what is causing this. I was also told I could clear this just by pressing the dismiss button, which I have been doing. I don't feel this is the way to fix the problem. Since I do a lot of towing, I feel this is putting both mine and other lives in danger, since I don't know if my brakes are going to work or fail. I have recently discovered that this is a very common defect in this vehicle and is due to a faulty wire harness, which could fail at any time and cause a brake failure. I am truly afraid to operate this vehicle, and feel ALL 2017 silverado's should be recalled, and this faulty wire harness replaced, before people die.
I have bought this certified 2017 chevy Silverado after driving for 1,100 miles the service trailer break kept popping up on my dash making my trailer breaks not work it pops up even when I do not have a trailer hooked up it chimes every few seconds I drive making the warning cover my digital speed it then will not let my music work and I can’t make call hand free bc it chimes and goes off the hole time I drive
Service trailer brake warning consistently flashing and dinging, every 1-4 seconds. Taking away my ability to see any digital read out on the screen, not safe to drive with this consistant relentless chiming and flashing on the screen. This issue has ready cost me a battery.
My truck has 57000miles has electronic steering. The steering will shut down and everything becomes manual. Steering error messages pop on the screen and chimes sound. This mostly happens at low speed, like stopping to back into a parking space. I've taken the truck to the dealership on two occasions, first time they " adjusted the module" for 1 hourly rate. The second time they reset the module and recommended a battery cable replacement. After replacing the battery cables and battery ( at a different repair shop) same problem. Now back to the dealership for a recommended Electronic Comtrol Module (ECM). After researching multiple websites and blogs, this is a known issue, and a dangerous one. Why has this not become a recall issue yet? https://shop.tekmetric.com/inspection/2D5vHKs-uXj8ZivBaJywx2vyFb4Lg9TyK5LgYX56mKE
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was overheating. The dealer also informed the contact that the wiring harness and the transmission fluid temperature sensor needed to be replaced under a Technical Service Bulletin. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the check engine warning light was reset. The contact referenced GM Recall Number: N192291660. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.
Mileage: 48,000
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and slowing down, the vehicle would suddenly lose motive power and stall. The contact indicated that the failure only occurred while making either a right or left turn. The contact stated that during the failure, a message to raise or lower the window was displayed. After restarting the vehicle, the vehicle would operate as designed. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 15,000.

My Service Trailer Brake System light comes on. This is the 2nd time that I have had to take my truck in for this issue. The first time it was fixed it lasted for about a year. I am not sure what the issue is, but there seems to be a lot of people with this same issue that is very concerning especially when you are pulling a heavy load and the trailer brakes stopped working.
Trailer Brake system message comes on multiple time. Have never pulled a trailer. Also when going 75mph on cruise control the "Stabilitrak" message comes up and kicks off my cruise and completely blanks out my screens. This is extremely bothersome and is DEFINITELY a safety issue with this wiring problem.
Stabilitrac service light comes on and dash lights flicker for a second, radio sound cuts out a second, then power steering is lost until putting in park or restart of vehicle. Just like recalls for other silverado 1500s. Happens intermittently.
(1). Entire Electrical failure. Initial investigation revealed Negative Batter Post and Cable extremely Hot. The Truck was operating perfectly and had just sat overnight. This issue was first detected about 1 month prior, when, after a 3 Hour drive, I got and when I returned, there was "Nothing". Disconnected Battery Cables, touched thwm together fo 30+ seconds and everything worked perfect. (2). The first event, I was in the Middle of the Arizona Desert, almost 90 miles from the nearest population. (3), Unable to Intentionally Reconstruct this problem. There was No Check engine light. HOWEVER - in the first event, the Stabili-Trak Light illuminated and had to pull to the side of the road to apparently let it reset. (4). Took it into the Dealer who simply stated "since there was No Check Engine Light, it would be a waste of money, since I had driven it in". They did not take a formal report. (5). Other than the initial issue with the Stabili-Trak light, prior to the first incident, 2/12 Hours later, there were NO advanced warnings. In the 2nd event, the Truck ran perfectly, parked it overnight and when I went to start it in the morning, NOTHING.
Pressing the brakes can cause the trailer brake system alarm to go off. Sometimes it causes the truck to die while I’m driving. Very dangerous. I have seen numerous posts online of the exact problem.
Trailer brake system is continuing to show a service warning on the dash. Noticed the problem when my battery kept draining over night. Then the service trailer brake system light came on and won’t go away. I don’t have any modifications done to the vehicle and I bought it used almost 6 months ago with 80,000 miles. The service light comes on every time you crank the truck. GM service bulletins are reporting that it is a wiring harness that is defective. This should be addressed as a recall. It is unsafe to pull any type of equipment as well is causing my battery to drain over night to where I’m having to jump the truck off just to crank it
My 2017 Silverado cuts off on me while driving. Completely gos dead for a few minutes then it will regain power. It has cut off on me while on the road. That is extremely dangerous. Also I keep getting a message for to service trailer break system. Non stop messages and stabilitrak is another non stop message on my dash. This is how I've been driving for weeks now. It's a on and off thing.
Hello- I'm constantly receiving a repetitive service trailer brake system chime while driving and/or in park which is very dangerous! The exact warning message that pops up on my screen constantly says: Trailer Brake System. I have 87,531 on my certificated pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado_Redline edition. Extensive research leads me to believe that the wire harness in between two of the body control modules is detective! I TRULY BELIEVE that GM/Chevrolet Corporation should be held accountable in recalling the DEFECTIVE low quality wire harness on all 2017 Chevy Silverado's. The distracting message puts every driver at risk and should be deemed extremely UNSAFE to drive. [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
The truck will shut off without warning and lock all doors. The key fob/manual unlock or door unlock button will not unlock the doors. There is no way to get out. This has happened 3 times in the last year
I went outside and started my truck as I normally do. After a few seconds of the rear defroster being on I heard a sizzling noise behind me. I turned around and could see white smoke coming out and filling the truck w smoke. I quickly turned the rear defroster off and then the truck. The whole component has melted for the rear deforster and rear power window. The truck has less that 60,000 mi. After a quick Google search I learned this is apparently a known issue. This is an absolute safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately. I shouldn't have to pay for a repair on the electrical wiring or faulty parts that were installed by the manufacturer.
I am the owner of a 2017 Chevy Silverado with a little under 50000 miles. I have had an issue with the computer system occasionally re-booting while driving. Also, on occasion, I will get a warning on my display for "trailer braking system" for a fraction of a second. I have mentioned this a several service appointments and inspections, but the dealership was never able to pinpoint the problem. On the morning of Monday, February 28th, I dropped my children off at school, pulled up to the edge of the building and the "trailer braking system" warning flashed for a split second on my display. I proceeded to the stop sign. As I was making the turn into traffic, the computer seemed to have re-booted several times in the period of a few seconds. However, this time, my steering locked in place while making the turn, putting the front of my vehicle just over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. The doors locked and unlocked several times, several chimes went off, the display flashed a few times, and then, after a couple of seconds, I was able to steer and pull back into my lane. I promptly called Chevy support to report the issue, as I believed this to be an important safety issue that Chevy would be extremely concerned with. I was disappointed to find that the operator was not interested in taking my information, she suggested that I contact the dealership for service, which I already was in the process of doing. I explained that I was calling to report a safety issue to Chevy, not to merely complain, and offered my VIN number. She reluctantly checked the last 8 digits of my VIN number for known recalls and again suggested I call for service. Dealership said that my power steering module needed calibration updates. But, they are not sure that this will solve my issue. I see many complaints like this online and Chevy is not proactively scanning for this computer issue even though it could be deadly in traffic, especially on the highway.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the trailer brake warning light illuminated. Additionally, the battery was drained. The dealer was made aware of the failure however, the contact had not yet received a callback. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,300.

I have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado I purchased new in 2017 from Woodruff SC Chevrolet and have had several major issues including a complete transmission replace, towed in twined, Now the latest the check engine light is on again also “service trailer break” causing the truck not to start without being jumper off, Will shut down with out notice I have replaced the battery and had alternator checked, Googled problem abs was informed to report to NHTSA asap I’m told it’s a defected wiring harness that has been brought to your attention,
While driving the vehicle I turned the rear window defrosted on. The rear window started smoking after 5 minutes of turning on rear defroster and filled the vehicle cabin with smoke. I immediately turned the rear defroster off and pulled off the side of the road and opened all the doors to air it out. I then went back in and turned the defroster back on to verify the rear window defroster was the issue. It instantly started smoking again and was scalding to the touch of the bottom right of the sliding window. I turned defroster off and waited about 20 minutes where I felt that it had cooled. After some research I found the TSB provided by GM. TSB # N192265660. I contacted GM customer service and they said there is nothing they can do and it will need to be fixed out of pocket. This is unacceptable as this may cause the window to blow out on passengers, or can cause a smoke inhalation issues. I had everything I could do the get the vehicle pulled over because I could not see. The truck is only has 56,000 miles on it.
Was driving for 25 minutes in the truck. Temperature outside was around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. I did not know the rear defroster was on. My son who was in the back seat smelled smoke and said that the truck was on fire. I pulled to the side of the road and looked in the back and could see the rear defroster on drivers side was glowing and emitting smoke. I looked at rear defrost light and it was on. I turned the rear defroster off to prevent any more current from going through the wire. Once we were sure there was no more smoke or fire we got back in the vehicle. About 300 seconds later the window shattered. If my son was not in the back seat and smelled smoke the back seat could have caught on fire. I called the dealer and they stated no recalls for my vehicle. There is an article from Canada describing what happened to my truck. https://gmauthority.com/blog/2019/07/gm-truck-recall-2014-2019-silverado-sierra-trucks-over-fire-risk/ No warning at all. The rear defroster just started smoldering and smoking. I do have a rear sliding window so only the left glass pane was impacted.
I bought my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 certified pre owned on 11/04/2019 shortly after I purchased it I started having problems with it. From brakes to lights. An took it in for the recall on brakes and steering. After that I've not had cruise control, and the stabilitrak warning light has been on. And just about a year ago while driving an pulling trailer, I lost communication to transmission, electronic brake, park assist, trailer brakes, ect. An was forced to stop! After taking it in to dealership to fix it, they did which lasted not even a month and done it again numerous times leaving me stranded. Now just last night 11/23/2021 while pulling my trailer, as I came to a stop sign I hit my brakes and all trailer brakes locked up bringing me to a stop (trailer brake on dash has been set on 0 since they haven't worked since purchased ) I had to unhook trailer wiring to make it home. As I took off I lost communication to transmission again and trailer brake system warning chime kept going off repeatedly, lost dash gauges, causing transmission to get hot. As it was stuck in a certain gear. Your defective wiring/ electrical system has fault and potentially caused a SERIOUS accident, and is going to cost me an enormous amount of money to fix. Also the torque converter has been acting up for a year, forcing me to purchase a tuner just to stretch the life of transmission. This vehicle is NOT safe to drive on highway! This vehicle is life threatening. Putting my life, my familys life and innocent peoples life's in danger! Problem needs resolved or reimbursement/ new truck. A $37,000 truck should not be life-threatening. This truck has spent more time in a garage than on the highway. Solutions have to be done. Why pay for a $37,000 truck you can't use or risk everyone's lives!
i reported my vehicle stalling in the middle of traffic on 2 separated incidents. the dash lights turn off and on and the car stalls. but after having it serviced nothing was found this was in 2019 and 2020. come 2021 my car STALLED AND LOCKED in the middle of an intersection my truck is not more than 5 years old and i have it serviced at the dealership and they never saw this coming. my diagnostic check reads i need to replace 8 fuel injectors $2400.00
The service brake assist came on and the brakes are acting funny at lower speeds. I see there was a recall for this very problem.
My vehicles trailer breaking system keeps activating cause the brakes to activate. Additionally, it is activating my stabilitrak system and turns the vehicle off and on. These issues coralate with recall #19V761000.
The system that failed is the speedometer display and radio display while driving. This can be dangerous as I do not know the speed I am driving. This can also be dangerous as the display includes the screen for the backup camera that turns off without notice while backing up. The problem has happened many times in the 2017 Chevrolet Silverado owned by the company I work for. I own a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado and the issue occurs in it, as well. I notified the GM dealership where both vehicles were purchased and they said the screen could be replaced but would be very expensive. No warning lamps or messages occurred. The screen jumps around a lot and occurs at various times (morning, afternoon, warm or cold weather, etc.).
My engine went out while I was driving in the highway. The engine started ticking and I was instantly limited to 30mph with cars going highway speeds around me. No symptoms or warnings prior to that. Dealer said it was faulty lifters required for the AFM module.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the air conditioner was blowing hot air throughout the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the air compressor was replaced. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was contacted who referred the contact to the NHTSA. The failure mileage was 41,645.

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado on February 1st of this year, and over the last 4 months have put only 5,000 miles on it. On June 20th, on my way back from a 10-hour trip, where I was towing a trailer with a car on it, my trailer brakes suddenly stopped functioning (about 4 hours from home). Not only did the trailer brakes stop functioning, but a warning message popped up on the dashboard "service trailer brake system". But this warning message didn't pop up just one time, it kept coming again and again and again and again and again, relentlessly chiming and distracting me from driving, it covered my speedometer readout, it prevented me from receiving or making voice commands, prevented me from hearing phone calls, and prevented me from listening to music. The service warning chime also prevented the turn signal chime from functioning. So for a full 4 hours, I was constantly reminded with a service trailer brake system chime, was unable to hear my turn signal chime, was unable to listen to music or make a phone call, and was unable to see the digital readout of my speed. The vehicle had been rendered completely undrivable, and I absolutely will not hesitate to say that the vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. Especially if you consider that I was towing 5,000 lbs with no working trailer brakes. GM's defective wire harness endangered my life. Consumer stated wire harness has not been replaced and manufacture refused to honor CPO warranty.
Reverse lights and camera are out
The back-up camera system has failed on my 2017 Silverado for the second time under 46,000 miles. Got to the point that the screen was just blue, not even a distorted image any more. With large vehicles like this I feel the camera is an essential safety component for backing up, especially in my neighborhood with children around, people walking down the sidewalks etc. The dealer had to replace wiring at about 7,000 miles (5mo old) and then wiring and the camera again at about 45,000 miles (4yrs old). The second time more wires broke during testing, triggering a check engine light which resulted in 2 days in the shop. The camera screen started saying it needed repair, would work on and off and then quit completely and went blue.
ABS AND SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON. TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIRS AND THEY REPLACED WIRING. THIS CAUSED LEFT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR TO MALFUNCTION. VEHICLE WILL ONLY DRIVE CORRECTLY IN 2 WHEEL DRIVE.

I RECEIVE MANY ERROR LIGHTS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY 2017 SILVERADO. LIGHTS INCLUDE STABILITRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL DISABLED, TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEMS SERVICE, AND POWER STEERING DIMINISHED. THE SAFETY COMPLAINT IS DUE TO THE POWER STEERING ACTUALLY SHUTTING DOWN AND A SHARP LOSS IN ENGINE POWER AND HARD SHIFTING. ON MANY OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE THE ROAD UNTIL THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY. I HAVE GONE INTO QUIRK CHEVROLET ON MANY OCCASIONS BUT THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE RECENTLY CONTACTED CHEVROLET DIRECTLY AND THEY HAVE SET UP A CASE AND WILL KEEP OPEN UNTIL THIS IS FIXED.
TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH NO WARNING WHEN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE LEFT, WHILE IN MOTION, WOULD STOP DURING THE TURN AND JERK BACK THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND POWER TO THE VEHICLE WOULD BE LOST FOR A SECOND THEN HAVE POWER RESTORED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS BACKING UP AND HAD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT TO AVOID HITTING AN OBJECT, AT THIS POINT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND JERKED BACK IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION AND THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED, RADIO SCREEN WENT BLANK, AND THE CLIMATE CONTROL LIGHTS WENT OUT BUT ALL POWER CAME BACK ON AFTER A SECOND. THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME SIX TIMES WHILE TRYING TO BACK UP. I HAVE A VIDEO AFTER I BACKED UP AND PARKED AND THE ISSUE REPEATED ITSELF SO I COULD GET A VIDEO TO SHOW FOR A REPAIR. THE SECOND OCCASION WAS WHEN I WAS ON A 25 MPH TWO LANE ROAD. I WAS TURNING LEFT ONTO ANOTHER ROAD AND AFTER COMING TO A STOP TO LET A CAR GO BY I HIT THE ACCELERATOR TO GET THE VEHICLE TO MOVE AND THE ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE CUT OUT, DOOR LOCKS CYCLED, AND LOST ALL POWER TO THE VEHICLE. WHEN I LOST POWER MY VEHICLE WAS HALF WAY INTO THE ON-COMING LANE OF THE ROAD I WAS TURNING OFF OF. VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER NOW AT AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THE ISSUE, THE DEALERSHIP HAS SEEN THE VIDEO I HAVE AND THE MECHANIC COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BUT FOUND ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRIC STEERING WHILE DOING TEST DRIVES. AS OF NOW I'M NOT AWARE OF THE ISSUES THAT WERE FOUND. MECHANIC TOLD SERVICE SUPERVISOR THAT THE ELECTRIC STEERING NEEDED TO BE UPDATED IN THE COMPUTER TO SMOOTH OUT THE ISSUES. SINCE THE ORIGINAL ISSUE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED, NOT SURE IF THIS WILL BE THE FIX. IF VIDEO EVIDENCE IS NEEDED PLEASE EMAIL ME AND I WILL SEND VIDEO.

MY 2017 SILVERADO HAD A RECALL FOR THE REAR DEFROSTER. THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED 6 MONTHS AGO. OVER THIS PAST WEEKEND, AN ELECTRICAL FIRE SMELL APPEARED IN THE VEHICLE, AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE REAR SLIDING WINDOW BEGAN TO SMOKE FROM BEHIND A PLASTIC PART. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE TRUCK OVER AND SHUT DOWN THE ENGINE AND EVACUATED MY FAMILY. THE SMOKE STOPPED AND I REMOVED THE FUSE AND RELAYS FOR REAR DEFROST TO PREVENT FUTURE FIRE. CLEARLY THE RECALL REPAIR DID NOT ACCOMPLISH FIXING THE SAFETY ISSUE.

THIS MORNING I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WITH THE HEAT ON FULL, HEATED SEATS ON, AND THE REAR DEFROST. I SMELT SMOKE COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN THE CAR. I LOOKED IN MY BACK SEAT TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY REAR WINDOW. I DID NOT OPERATE MY REAR POWER WINDOW AT ANY POINT TODAY. I STOPPED AND LOOKED CLOSER TO SEE SOMETHING ELECTRICAL MELTING BEHIND THE REAR PASSENGER HEAD REST (SEE PICTURE). SUDDENLY THERE WAS A LOUD POP, IT WAS THE REAR WINDOW BREAKING. THE WHOLE THING DID NOT BREAK, JUST THE 1/3 ON THE DRIVER SIDE. I BELIEVE THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE I USED THE REAR DEFROST. I'M VERY HAPPY NOTHING CAUGHT ON FIRE AND MY BACK SEAT WAS EMPTY. WHEN I DROVE HOME THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS, THE REAR DEFROST WAS OFF BUT NOW I HAVE A SHATTERED. I DID NOT HAVE ANYTHING IN MY TRUCK BED THAT COULD HAVE BROKEN THE WINDOW, I BELIEVE THE HEAT FROM THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE CAUSED IT TO SHATTER. I HAVE SEEN THAT CANADA HAS RECALLED THIS TRUCK FOR THIS ISSUE. I DON'T KNOW WHO IS RESPONSIBLE AND WHO IS GOING TO FIX THIS PROBLEM.

THE MYLINK RADIO SYSTEM IN MY 2017 SILVERRADO HAS DEVELOPED A MNID OF ITS OWN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE TRUCK IS SITTING STILL OR MOVING. TURN RADIO ON AND IN JUST A FEW SECONDS THE RADIO STARTS THE BROWSE FUNCTION. IT STARTS SCROLLING ALL THE STATIONS AND ON MY LITTLE SCREEN ABOVE MY STEERING WHEEL GOES TO AUDIO FUNCTION DISABLING MY SPEED READOUT. ALSO EFFECTS THE NAVIGATION SCREEN WHERE THE MAP JUMPS ALL OVER THE PLACE AND DISPLAYS LOCATIONS OFF AND ON. ON THE HOME SCREEN THE APPS JUST KEEP SCROLLING BY NEVER STOPPING. IT IS LIKE THE SYSTEM HAS A GHOST IN IT. IT IS VERY DISTRACTING WHILE DRIVING AS THE SCREEN KEEPS CHANGING. NOW I AM LEAVING THE RADIO OFF. CAN NOT USE MY NAVIGATION WHICH I PAY FOR EVERY YEAR, ALSO SOMETIMES THE TOUCH SCREEN WILL NOT RESPOND. MY TRUCK HAS 50,800 MILES ON IT. I PURCHASED THE TRUCK ON OCTOBER 31 2017. AFTER THE SMOKE, THE TRUCK NO LONGER ATTEMPTED TO CRANK OR START ITSELF AND THE SMOKE WAS GONE WITHIN 5 MINUTES, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE SMALL INSTANCES OF SMOKE OVER THE NEXT 15 MINUTES. THE TRUCK WAS PUT ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS AT THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. INITIAL DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THE "STARTER HAD CONSUMED ITSELF" AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE I SAW, BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. IT WAS QUITE SCARY TO HAVE A TRUCK ATTEMPT TO START ITSELF WITH A SMALL ELECTRICAL SHORT/FIRE AS A RESULT WITHOUT A KEY BEING NEEDED.

PURCHASED MY 17 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 ON 11/28/17 AND RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/1/17. THIS WAS DUE TO A SEVERE SHUDDERING & SHIFTING IN THE TRANSMISSION & SEVERE SHAKE IN THE FRONT END AT 70-90MPH. THEY BALANCED & ROTATED THE TIRES, SAYING THE ISSUE WAS FIXED, I PICKED THE VEHICLE BACK UP ON 12/4/17 BUT THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED & AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE HAD ALSO OCCURRED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK ON 12/7/18 WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION & SHAKING IN THE FRONT END, AS WELL AS THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE PROBLEM ELECTRICALLY WAS WHILE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT THE BRIGHT LIGHTS FLASHED & THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLANK. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME ON 12/8/17, TOLD ME THEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUES, FINDING NOTHING WRONG. I LEFT IT OVER THE WEEKEND, WENT IN MONDAY MORNING & SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER DIRECTLY. HE TOLD ME HE HAD PURCHASED THE SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SAID THERE WAS A POSSIBLE FIX BY EXCHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID & THEY WOULD USE A NEW MACHINE PICO TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING & PERFORM A PROGRAMMING MODULE UPDATE ON RADIO, I PICKED IT UP ON 12/22/17, ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR TRANSMISSION SHUDDER, SHIFT & SHAKE ISSUE MOST NOTICEABLE AT 70-90MPH, & RADIO ISSUE. THEY WERE ADVISED TO PERFORM A MODULE UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION & GIVEN 2 OPTIONS ON THE RADIO, THEY CHOSE TO REPLACE THE SCREEN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THAT SAME DEALERSHIP, MODULE UPDATE MADE TRANSMISSION/FRONT END ISSUE WORSE, ESPECIALLY COMING OUT OF A CURVE. THEY'VE REPLACED MY 2 BACK TIRES SAID THEY WERE BAD & SHOULD FIX THE SHAKING ISSUE IN THE FRONT END. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THUS THEY CANNOT REPAIR IT. OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES ARE BEING TOLD GM KNOWS BUT CAN'T FIX TRANSMISSION ISSUE.
RADIO DISPLAY CHANGES FROM BRIGHT TO DIM WHENEVER IT WANTS TO. ALSO RADIO CHANGES WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING THE SCREEN. POWER ADAPTER HAS STARTED NOT POWERING GARMIN AFTER BEING PLUGGED IN DURING TRIP. HAD TO TRY RECONNECTING SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER CONNECTION FIXED GARMIN LOST POWER EVEN AFTER REINSERTING ADAPTER. THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN ON BOTH CITY, HIGHWAY AND FREEWAY DRIVING. THE LATEST WAS SHOWN TO LOCAL DEALER RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED. I'M SURE WHEN THE VEHICLE IS CHECKED UNDER WARRANTY THAT NOTHING WILL BE FOUND. THATS WHY I WANT ANSWERS IF YOU HAVE ANY. MOST RECENTLY IT HAPPENED ON 20 FEB. 18

DRIVERS DOOR COULD NOT BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. HANDLE MOVED BUT DOOR MECHANISM WOULD NOT ENGAGE. HAD TO LOWER DRIVERS WINDOW AND USE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE DRIVERS DOOR INSIDE DOOR HANDLE MECHANISM WORKED AGAIN. I'M CONCERNED ABOUT BEING ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE QUICKLY IN AN EMERGENCY OR IF POWER WAS DISRUPTED TO THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO LOWER THE WINDOW. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED IN A SNOW STORM (BLIZZARD) ON A BACK COUNTRY ROAD AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT
