While driving on Highway 35 in Austin, Texas, my vehicle's transmission unexpectedly failed, which placed myself and my passengers in a precarious situation. The vehicle became inoperable on the side of the highway, necessitating that my passengers and I manually push it while traffic was actively flowing. This mechanical issue occurred without any prior indication. Through my subsequent research, I have observed that this particular problem appears to be a recurring concern with this model of vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, after the signal turned green, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle only revved but failed to properly respond. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence and later towed to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was diagnosed and determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Transmission went out while driving the vehicle and left it stuck in the middle of the intersection we had to push it though traffic. It had no forward movement. Would only drive in reverse. No warning or anything just made a clunk and wouldn't move any further.

Sep 6, 2025

The transmission started to shutter at 94,000 miles. Gwatney Chevrolet quoted $7,500 for a new transmission replacement. Had an in independent shop quote $4,670 for a reman transmission. I have only towed 2,000 lbs at a time in the past. This is the 1st time towing a 6,000lbs camper. It was only driven 800 miles with the camper in tow. The vehicle only has less than 95,000 miles and my transmission is shuttering and has metal shavings in the fluid. Needing a replacement at this time frame and mileage is ridiculous.

Transmission failure, I had to have the transmission replaced and no longer have it for inspection. I was on a one lane highway in Franconia NH with guardrails on each side, and no phone reception. Traffic was trying to get by me including tractor trailers, we were horrified and couldn't get out. these 6L80 transmission in the Chevy Silverado, come to find out, have been failing for a long time. 2 of my friends lost there's also, all of us were between 100k-115K miles. The transmission shop I went to, and others I called said they can't believe there was never a recall, they get many of them. Zero warning, just quit. I take exception care of my vehicles regarding maintenance, always early, these are to expensive to repair when your on a retired budget.

Aug 21, 2025

Premature engine failure specifically the lifters failed and the push rod failed causing the vehicle to become unusable and stranding the operator. Also transmission surges and slips causing unsafe driving conditions

I was driving to work last Monday when my truck entered a lymph mode. It would only let me go 40mph, when I was on a road that allowed others to go 60-70mph. I had traffic behind me as well. As I made it closer to work, the truck would only rev up. It left me sitting in a median with traffic going past me. Thankfully, I was not hit. I had to cut the truck off, wait several minutes, then start it back up to limp it to a safe spot where I could have it towed. I had it towed to a transmission shop. Please note* I have done the regular transmission maintenance on this vehicle as well. This shop done a diagnostic test on it ($95 +tax). It was a complete transmission failure. They told me this was due to the torque converter. General Motors, GM, programmed the transmission torque converter to kick on in 2nd gear which causes it to overheat practically everytime it drives. The same transmission shop said they rebuild 3-4 of the 6L80 transmissions a week. I have a 2017 chevy silverado with a 6 speed transmission, the 6L80..... This is an issue that GM should be held liable for. The transmission rebuild will be $4500-4800 + tax. Thank you to whomever reads this. I could really use help. My email is [XXX] . Phone number is [XXX] . I can provide rebuild cost and receipts when needed. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

There is a faulty weld on the radiator of my 2017 chevy silverado 1500 LT that cracked and began to leak coolant. Dealer stated that this is a common issue and there was no other remedy but to replace the radiator and coolant lines. i have seen bulletins and warranties for earlier models but the issue is still there.

I have lost my brakes when reversing, however I have good brakes when driving forward. The transmission is also slipping and the torque converter in the transmission is becoming very worn ALREADY. I do not tow anything with this vehicle, and I only have 73,411 miles on this truck.

May 18, 2025

Transmission and torque converter blew up. Rpm of truck was uncontrollable. Total transmission failure.

May 6, 2025

While driving my vehicle, with around 85,000 miles, the engine suddenly began running rough and felt jerky and sluggish. This was concerning and potentially dangerous situation, as the engine failure happened while I was travelling at high speed. A sudden loss of power on the highway put me and other drivers at serious risk. The check engine light came on, so I pulled over as soon as I could safely do so. Shortly after, the light started flashing, so I shut off the engine and contacted the dealership service department. They advised having the vehicle towed in for inspection. Prior to this event, I had not had any issues with the vehicle nor had the check engine light come on. After looking into it, the dealership initially suspected a thrown rod but said they wouldn't know the full extent of the issue until they could tear down the engine. Upon further inspection, they determined that the lifters had failed and would need to be replaced. The dealership has performed all regular maintenance and oil changes on my vehicle. When I asked what could have caused this, they explained that it's a known issue with these lifters and engines - one that Chevrolet has experienced for years, even in models prior to my 2017.

May 4, 2025

Automatic transmission (6L-80, 6-speed) failure around 92500 miles. After numerous loud and bad shifts, lost forward gears and had to be towed to repair shop. Required full replacement of transmission and torque converter out of warranty.

Apr 30, 2025

When stopping truck jerks, downshifts and lurches forward. While driving over 45mph truck does not seem to shift properly and jerks intermitantly and sounds different than before. 2017 silverado with 47,000 miles on it, bought brand new!

Apr 29, 2025

I own a 2017 Silverado 1500 ecoTech V6, 6L80 transmission, 91500 - over the weekend, I started having an issue shifting from 3rd to 4th. I noticed the transmission was over 190 degrees, as high as 230 degrees, then cooling back to 194. When attempting to shift from 3rd the 4th, it will start, then return to 3rd. It will do so 4 or 5 times until eventually skipping 4th and going to 5th. This happens when the transmission fluid is cold, 80s or when fluid gets to 190+. I called the local Chevy deal, who told me there weren't any open recalls for my VIN and that the diagnostics would be $190 which may or may not be a software update. They would not know until after the disanostics.

Transmission Went out at 45100 miles Breaks don’t work pedal gets stiff and will not engage breaks truck rolls can not drive due to breaks still doing this. Service Break system light will flash. Truck only has 55000 miles as of now Dealer replaced transmission with receipt to prove paid out of pocket. Breaks still not in working order do to dealer not being able to figure out the problem. Truck is not drivable Safety hazard Breaks not working and transmission slipping almost caused an accident while traveling at 55 mph truck loses speed tractor trailer almost slammed into my truck lucky tractor trailer was able to swerve over to other lane avoiding an accident Truck only has 55000 miles

Mar 6, 2025

The six speed transmission 6L80 failed with less then 60k miles and before it's first service due at 72k miles, I have already had the transmission repaired so the original transmission components are not available for inspection. My transmission failed when I was driving across the Coronado bridge in San Diego CA. This bridge has no shoulders to safely pull over. I had my truck towed to Cummings Chevrolet in National City CA. and they confirmed the transmission needed replacing. Yes the check engine light did come on but it was already too late to save the transmission.

Not sure if it is a torque converter or the transmission there are no codes reading on the computer but multiple times when driving, I will lose all power in Drive and it will take a few minutes to catch up before it goes back in the drive and accelerates

Feb 2, 2025

While driving to work on interstate I22 in New Albany Mississippi I suddenly noticed serging and my RPM gauge fluctuating , I immediately knew it was torque converter failure at 134,000 mostly highway miles, which is a very low amount for a truck that I really don't work or pull trailers, I can accept transmission failure around 250,000 miles but not 134,000 , upon research I discovered GM had a lot of issues with it's light duty truck transmission from this generation of truck due to substandard torque converter material.

Jan 19, 2025

I spent 40k cash for my 2017 high country to find out GM great idea of AFM and no good 10 speed transmission/torque converter was made with low quality and careless parts. I'm definitely getting me a lawyer to fix this [XXX] because all I've ever wanted was this body style but all they care about is money over quality. GM and they're retail sellers knew about AFW problems and sold us [XXX] anyway. They are saying that transmission issues aren't they're fault and actually getting away with that answer. Who's else fault could it be when it's the same problem with the same model. To be an American and get [XXX] by our own is getting old. If I can get sold [XXX] I can at least get a shovel with it...so I'm getting a damn good shovel/lawyer. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Transmission jerks, surges ahead, clunks when downshifting and is completely unpredictable. Checked transmission fluid and everything is good. This is a serious issue as you never know what’s going to happen

Dec 11, 2024

The transmission in my truck completely failed on a busy road during rush hour. I was in stop and go traffic and after one of my stops the truck wouldn’t move Luckily I was in the right hand lane and about 150 feet from the entrance to a parking lot and a stranger helped me push it to that lot. I had it towed to the dealership I bought it at The recite they gave me says “ transmission pump has failed and burnt clutches”. I have never pulled a trailer and only had 78,000 miles on my truck

Dec 2, 2024

Shifting was noticeable with a hesitation. Dealership said it was normal. Developed into a shudder while driving. Shudder came up with transmission code and decreased power. Not driveable. Miles are less than 108k

Dec 1, 2024

Bought 4/2023 at 98326 mileage. At 7/23 major issues take place trying to drive. Taken to original dealer where purchased, at 102581. Had to replace the air conditioner and throttle body plus equaling over $3000. I had bought extended warranty at $3384. Now at 139000 miles the transmission is gone!!!

I have a tork converter that locking the transmission and causing the truck to down shift and sometimes comes to a quick stop when braking. I am afraid if a family member drives the truck it could cause them to make a dangerous move in on goin traffic. Or not stopping and hitting a person or another vehicle. It hits hard and stops while pulling the vehicle in on coming traffic especially when not exspecting it all of a sudden.

My 2017 Chevy Silverado was giving me minor issues about two weeks previously, I was coming on the road and hear like something broken in pieces. I stop at the light and when I was to go forward to continue my with driving the truck was going backwards.. so scary thanks God, I didn't press the acceleration fast I would it have hit the car on back of me . I set emergency lights and call for help.. truck was moved from the road and brought back home. Please look into this safety issue.

The transmission lost every gear but 1st, 2nd. I was driving it down the highway when it lost the gear putting myself, other motor vehicles, and pedestrians safety at risk. The transmissions are known to by others and gm to lose gears or blow and no recall has been issued to rectify the issues. the vehicle was scanned by a trusted local auto motive shop. there were no warning lamps messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. It was going down the road then slipped/sputtered, dropping in to second gear then the checking engine light came on.

I bought my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST used almost 2 years ago. I noticed shortly after buying it that the truck will stall in low gear then lunge forward unexpectedly, it didn't do it all the time just once in a while. Problem is it seems to be happening more frequently and varies in severity. I've asked the local GM dealerships about this issue several times while having it in for service or oil changes. But was told each time that its common with that transmission and nothing to be concerned about, the problem is that I am. I recently started doing research on this and noticed I'm not the only one having these same issues. I'm filing a report as it worries me that a vehicle I'm making payments on is acting this way. I'm also concerned that with the truck in drive and moving, without warning then lunges forward could cause myself or someone else serious injury or worse. This I believe is not the fault of the owner/driver, but GM itself. This problem is not an isolated issue, but one shared by many consumers, me included.

Sep 6, 2024

experienced several years of misfire problems , replaced spark plugs twice which seemed to fix the problem short term. while out of my home state(retraining for a new job in the Airforce) the misfire became significantly worse and made the truck undrivable. brought the truck to a local mechanic and they told me that I had bad misfires on the AFM/DOD cylinders and need to replace them all. chevy confirmed the diagnosis also stated there not going to offer coverage for this know issue. this know failure has costed me 15k in total costs when GM has know about this for years and could have fixed it before costing me so much money . I've also received no help from the chevy dealership or corporate regarding this know problem and I've been told its going to be an out of pocket repair and there's noting they will dop to help.

Recently had to have the transmission replaced on my truck. I was driving on an on-ramp onto a highway and my transmission would not change gears once reaching 50mph, where the speed limit was 70mph, causing me to almost be rear-ended. This was without warning, no lights came on and no other conditions were noticed prior to this event. I pulled off the highway and the transmission was making hard shuddering noises. I had a dealership look it over and they determined I needed a full transmission replacement. Upon researching online, this appears to be a common problem for this vehicle.

My 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 5.3l V8 has a common transmission failure. The torque converter started malfunctioning under 100,000 miles. I am fully aware of of GM’s Hydra-Matic 8L90 transmission or Hydra-Matic 8L45 transmission on the 2015-2019 models. My wife was driving with our kids on the highway yesterday and the trucks immediate shaking, increased high RPMs, slow acceleration and violent downshifting. Scared them very much on the highway while going at the normal speeds of 65mph trying weave through traffic and make it back home on top of that. With zero warning and this having happened on my first 2011 Chevy Silverado as well. I know full well there are more class action lawsuits against GM. Them being allowed to get away with this consistent problem and not owning up to their failed products is unacceptable.

Bought my truck brand new in 2017 7 years at 119000 miles I was driving down the road stopped at a red light and when I proceeded to step on the gas when the light turn green my rpm would go up but the truck would not move in the middle of traffic I had to have it towed to a repair shop where I was informed there was an internal transmission failure which cost me nearly 10000 dollars out of pocket to fix never no check engine lights or notice before this happened or after

Vehicle shudder was noticed along with harsh shifting. Took to local shop and it was diagnosed as bad torque converter. Referred to transmission shop. Vehicle towed to transmission shop to avoid any further issues. Mechanic sent a picture of the magnet inside pan that was completely covered with metal shavings from torque converter. Mechanic stated new transmission would be necessary. Transmission was replaced February 2024. Truck had approximately 93000 miles on it.

Apr 3, 2024

At 83,000 miles the transmission failed. We bought this car from a Chevy dealership with 35k miles in November of 2021. We have performed all required maintenance. If GM knows there is a transmission issue with these trucks why won’t they help their customers? It’s a 7k bill on a truck with many more payments and that has less than 100k miles.

Mar 25, 2024

Transition failed

Mar 11, 2024

Stalling with no power transmission is putting me at risk since I first purchased this vehicle. Transmission needs to be replaced because of the defective drive shaft on all 2017 models . Really serious problem with a hard shift and multiple misfire. Just not sure what to do at this point. I’m still paying for a truck that’s not working.

Mar 11, 2024

Transmission failed. As I was pulling a horse trailer the transmission went out of gear and left me on a curve in the roadway. No warring lights or any other kind of warning was given. I did take it to a dealer to have it checked out and was advised I would need a new transmission. The cost would be $7,000. I do not have the funds, therefore my truck is not drivable and is parked. I have learned this is a known problem with this transmission and GM is not doing anything about it. The very least they could do is pay for half of the repair cost.

6L80 TRANS SHUDDERS AND SLIPS

Feb 15, 2024

Transmission (6L80) torque converter failed at 76k miles. The transmission has never shifted well but was told that’s how they shift. Vehicle is not used for towing. And all scheduled maintenance was followed. While driving down the road the transmission suddenly started shuttering and jerking. Luckily, I was able to make it to a transmission shop who confirmed the torque converter was shot. Called Chevy dealer and the service rep advised that there is a reason they have 30 of those transmissions on the shelf right now, it’s a known issue. Unfortunately, it’s outside the warranty. Transmission has already been replaced with a remanufactured 6L80. 500 miles after the new transmission installed, the torque converter went out again. Another 6L80 is scheduled to be put in. This transmission is unreliable and went out while driving down the highway. No warning lights ever came on to indicate any issues.

Feb 6, 2024

Torque converter clutch system stuck in “off”; and won’t engage when commanded by system…this is apparently a known and common issue. Causing gears to not engage properly and a safety hazard when driving on freeway and higher speeds.

Jan 22, 2024

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle briefly shuddered. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed failures with the thermostat and torque converter. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 38,000.

Dec 21, 2023

2017 Silverado with 6L80, 59k miles - transmission failure due to TCC failure. Rough shifting, coming out of gear, shuttering when accelerating. Truck started to whine loudly when it was promptly taken to the dealership. Dealership dropped the pan and used magnet. Visible metal was in the transmission pan. There were no indicator lights on the dash from this issue. Requested goodwill warranty, gm replied they would cover 20% or $7k so I am stuck to pay $5k for a known issue. The replacement transmission is not new that they are offering, it is "certified refurbished" where they use the old casing with new internals. They are providing a 3yr/100k miles warranty on the new transmission. Deciding factors from GM were age, miles, service at dealership. Incredibly unsatisfied that GM is standing behind their vehicles not lasting 60k miles.

Dec 20, 2023

While driving on the interstate the truck started jerking and vibrating, started slowing down, while in the fast lane, then a loud whining sound started, finally making over 3 lanes of traffic doing approximately 40mph got stopped on the shoulder. No warning lights or anything came on. Sat there not knowing what happened so I proceeded onto the freeway and it started lunging & squealing again, got off the next exit to find out it was probably the torque converter or transmission, so here I sit in Virginia & I live in Arizona stranded. And trying to figure out how to pay a $6000 to $8000 repair bill and to find out this is a common problem with GM transmissions

Dec 17, 2023

Engine has always “ticked” since new took it multiple times to dealer they said it’s normal. Took it to shop they say its pushrods. Brakes front they wear unevenly even after being replaced by shop it always feels like truck is braking feels like it takes extra effort on gas pedal Transmission its a 6L80 only 85,000 miles and already there is metal shavings in pan and transmission is shifting hard and slipping.

While depressing the accelerator pedal, the engine revved, and the vehicle shuddered and vibrated but failed to accelerate as needed. The following day the vehicle was driven to the local dealer and was diagnosed, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to the local transmission specialist who confirmed that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 94,000.

The transmissions jerks, vibrates, and loses power as you accelerate

Sep 8, 2023

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the transmission failed to shift out of first gear. The contact stated that the failure had been a reoccurring failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with transmission temperature sensor failure. The contact was informed that the transmission temperature sensor wiring harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover a percentage of the total cost of the repair. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

while attempting to accelerate or decelerate we feel a hesitation and harsh shift. also along with the harsh shifting there is a shudder at speeds from around 50-72 miles per hour. yes it is available for inspection. it was a bit nerve racking not knowing if we should be driving or not, we bought the vehicle with 59,000 miles on it and felt some jerky shifting but didn't think anything about it because it was a chevy and that is all we drive, but now with the shudder we are concerned. we were on a road trip yesterday to help our niece move and she lives 3.5 hours away and we noticed the shudder again, ( we just had it in the shop for new tires, rims and balance thinking it was the tires and rims and alignment ) we were nervous to drive it back home, more severe shudder like driving on rumble strips and the steering wheel would even shake. no warning lamps or messages.

Aug 18, 2023

I have replaced my transmission about 8 months ago…$5200 and 15k miles later the transmission shudder is back. This is a safety issue because of transmission failure in traffic. There needs to be accountability from GM to fix this ongoing problem.

Aug 15, 2023

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started shaking and the contact heard an abnormally loud sound before the vehicle lost motive power. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the roadway, where the failure persisted. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed the vehicle with transmission failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was unable to assist. The failure mileage was 62,000.

The system that failed is my transmission and this puts me in risk on getting stranded one day and yes it’s been confirmed by a dealer. Yes there was a message on the dashboard and other symptoms prior to the failure and they appear around mid July of 2023.

Jul 26, 2023

The AFM system to the vehicle started to fail while I was on the road with my family. Vehicle went into limp mode as the vehicle started. Displayed on the dashboard engine loss of power with check engine light on. Took to the dealer to repair and got quoted a spark plug change when the issue is clearly something else.

After a full service of the truck in July 2022 with approximately 90,000 miles (including oil change, tire rotation, transfer case fluid exchange, front and rear differential service, coolant system flush and refill, front and rear brake pads and resurface of rotors, and transmission fluid flush and refill), the truck began jerking and stuttering (like rolling over rumble strips) in October 2022. In February 2023, the truck was taken back to dealer service department for an oil change and inspection of the jerking/stuttering issue, the service department replaced the spark plugs, inspected the wires and connectors, and performed a throttle body service with the expectation that this would fix the jerking/stuttering issue. It did not. In May 2023, the truck was diagnosed with a transmission issue by an independent service center and confirmed by the dealer service department. From the start of the issue in October 2022 until diagnosis of the transmission issue, no warning lamps or messages ever appeared. The dealer service department stated that the torque converter is bad and that it would be best to replace the full transmission. The truck is still drivable, but the dealer service department suggested that it should not be driven as the transmission could fail completely at any time. At this time, safety is of utmost concern and the truck will not be driven until fixed as we do not want to put ourselves, our passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians in an unsafe situation if the transmission fails.

Bad airbag sensor. Transmission wet out with 144000 miles

Apr 3, 2023

My transmission had to be replaced. It has always lunged, jerked, shake and make several unnatural noises. It would clunk into gear or not go in the proper gear. Several times it would not down shift and pushed me into the intersection either at a stop sign or red light. It felt as if I was hit from behind. One day it wouldn't go forward or reverse. It started working later and I took it to a dealership. There were no warning lights on so no codes were displayed. Suggested driving it as maybe it was just a glitch. The next day it wouldn't go over 40 mph and check engine light came on. I took it back to dealership. After they saw the codes, a mechanic looked at it and said there was metal in the transmission fluid and it smelled burnt. They said it needed a new transmission. I took it to a transmission shop and they confirmed it needed replaced. I had this done and it was over $5000. Transmission shop said they do 2-3 transmissions for Silverado a week, especially 2016 and 2017.

Is available upon request. Transmission chugging, quite often. Pulsing after turning a corner trying to resume speed. Difficulty shifting when cold. Noticed this happening occasionally, but this problem is definitely getting worse, happening daily. I only have 27,000 miles on this truck. I stopped by the dealership and was told to change the transmission fluid myself since the warranty was up. Very disappointed.

Major transmission shudder at 65-80 mph, creating control issues. Hard downshifting causing a vehicle push, hard to stop. Problem not confirmed by dealer, I'm out of warranty. No warning lamps or messages. 50,000 miles

Jan 16, 2023

The transmission in my truck has been giving me problems off and on since I purchased it a few years back. I have told the dealer about it and they said they could not find a problem and that's because it is very sporadic when it happens. What is happening is it shifts really hard like it's not in gear when you hit the gas and then it just takes off, it is to the point where now it Jenks really hard when shifting and it also has been downshifting for no reason. There are no warnings alarms or messages displayed and yes it can be inspected but the couple times I asked them being Sterling Buick GMC they tell me the techs can not duplicate the issue and that's because it does not happen all the time. Thank you

Transmission failed on vehicle with less than 27,000 miles. Required total overhaul costing over 4,000 $. No prior symptoms, no check engine light upon failure. This on top of over 5,000 $ of engine overhaul due to lifter failure last year. These are both known, prominent defects of this family of vehicles I unfortunately own.

Nov 17, 2022

I started having a shift issue and feeling vibrations around 25-30000 miles. Was told it was my tires. They were a little wore, so replace them and again the issues were still there. I brought it back to dealer and they said the transfer case was bad. Replaced by dealer. Same issues, returned to dealer. They made some adjustments and tried to send me away. After an aliment they did, it was said truck was fine. Another heavy clunk and hard shift around 68000 miles, back to dealer, asked to have transmission inspected, told the fuild was fine no issues. Was told that's just how this truck handles. Wrong. Something is wrong. I was sent away again. Now close to 97000 miles have have a P0741code and told the transmission is bad and needs replaced. The vehicle is never been in an accident, has only had minor weight in the bed. Never towed anything with the truck, northern transmission is faulty and causing driving problems.

Driving truck on vacation on the highway in traffic and when slowed down would hesitate going into gear when accelerating. Was able to get it in gear to try to exit highway. Was nearly rear ended in the process. Went to transmission shop immediately and was told no error codes and transmission fluid looked good so most likely transmission was going. We were about 200 miles from our destination and left stranded in unknown area. Truck towed to garage who confirmed failed transmission. Cost almost 6k to replace. Truck odometer just went over 61K miles!

Nov 1, 2022 Crash

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brakes made grinding noises due to the brake pads rubbing on the rotors. The contact added oil to the brake pads; however, the failure recurred. The contact replaced five hubs, two rotors, four calipers, and two brake lines. The vehicle was then taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with vacuum pump failure and the vacuum pump was replaced. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to Jim Butler Linn Chevrolet Service (317 Main St, Linn, MO 65051) where it was diagnosed that the transmission was faulty, and the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to replace the faulty parts with OEM parts. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000. The consumer had an accident due to brakes locking up and not able to get the transmission fixed.

Transmission issues. Brought Vehicle to Chevrolet dealership in Wisconsin. Explained the the vehicle had a vibration and I thought if might be a tire. They indicated that it was the Transmission fluid had to be changed. They change it and it was under warranty then. 10000 miles later the vibration is back. Brought it to a dealership in Indiana and they informed me that the dealership in Wisconsin put the fluid that was not the correct one. Now GM service wants 650 to fix the problem. Why didn't they correct this prior. They indicated they have done over 100 pickup trk like mine to fix the problem. Apparently GM dosen't want to take responsibility.

Sep 29, 2022

Transmission related issue - per dealer diagnosis, the transmission on the vehicle need to be replaced due to 1st gear bumping/harsh, rough/chuggling & being delayed when shifting. Complete lost of 1st gear after reaching operating temperature. Sudden loss of acceleration and the vehicle stalling while driving on a busy the freeway is a big safety issue to both the driver and other commuters. Vehicle was inspected by the Chevy Dealership - Alan Webb Chevrolet No warning lamps or messages showed prior to the failure. Just sudden lost of power while driving on the freeway.

The vehicle shake when accelerating, decelerating, stalls when taking off,the losses traction when it does take off, jerks the vehicle when shifting up or down sometimes causing loss of traction, especially on wet roads. Has been taken to the dealer several times, tsb has been performed only gives temporary fix. I cannot allow anyone to drive this vehicle because it randomly looses traction. The dealer,Mtn View Chevrolet, has duplicated the problem in the past and performed a tsb that was not a permanent repair. This has been an ongoing issue since 2019

My 2017 Chevy Silverado LT Z71 started shaking and jerking while I was traveling at 65 mph and almost caused an accident on I - 65 North. The engine light never came on until the truck lost acceleration after leaving the interstate and would not shift into other gears. I was able to get off the interstate at 30 mph while other vehicles are going past me 70 mph +. I stopped at a dealership and they checked the vehicle out and told me the transmission needs to be replaced at $6500 with only 79,000 miles on the vehicle. I investigated online and realized other owners have been complaining about 6 and 8 speed transmission shaking and shuddering/Jerking while driving. The dealerships have been flushing and changing the transmission fluid to stop the problem in 8 speed transmissions. The dealership the truck is at for repairs told me this. GM knows this is a major problem with their transmission, and it appears they refuse to recall this safety issue. Owners will pull out in traffic or driving on the interstate and the 6 to 8 speed transmissions will sporadically stop shifting thru gears and start shaking and jerking the vehicle causing acceleration issues. GM needs to fix this problem with their transmissions because it is a safety issue for the public. The dealership told me not to set the truck to the auto setting that operates the 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive setting, and to leave it at 2 wheel drive while driving because they said the vehicle will have transmission problems if you move the setting. GM and the dealership knows this is a major problem and so does every owner. Hopefully, this problem will be addressed.

Transmission and torque converter problem. Vehicle available. Transmission malfunctioning and sometimes violent vibration at highway speeds. Taken to dealership several times and charged a lot of money but dealer says even though they know they built them wrong they won’t replace it. Vehicle inspected by dealership and confirmed. Class action lawsuit is still active on this 2017 model as faulty transmission

Bought new with only 48 miles in 2018. Within the first 10,000 miles started getting a Service 4WD message. Dealership could not find an issue and told me it was a miscommunication between the transmission and computer. The message has continued to come on for several years. I have contacted On Star to run a diagnostic on it when it comes on and everything shows to be okay with no codes showing up. Had a severe shudder in the front end at 75,000 miles which went away after servicing the transmission but the 4WD message still comes on consistently.

While driving the vehicle wont shift properly. As someone with a degree in automotive I checked the vehicle which has code P0741 in the TCM. I contacted GM regarding the problems with my vehicle and they agreed to pay a portion of the costs to repair if I had it diagnosed by a dealership. The dealer diagnosed it between them and GM they replaced the valve body. This did not fix the issue. The dealer found metal shavings in the transmission which it not a good thing. This transmission needs to be replaced. However, getting the dealer or GM to say or do this is not working. I am stuck with a vehicle that isn't functioning properly. I have talked with other dealerships and transmission repair shops which all agree that if metal was found the then the transmission needs replaced.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission was overheating. The dealer also informed the contact that the wiring harness and the transmission fluid temperature sensor needed to be replaced under a Technical Service Bulletin. The vehicle was not repaired; however, the check engine warning light was reset. The contact referenced GM Recall Number: N192291660. Torque converter failure, only 33k miles on vehicle. Had a load of dirt in bed of truck, while going home had too pull to side of road. Cause - truck shook violently almost lost control, thought someone hit me at first. While getting started again, noticed transmission was shifting funny but got home and symptoms went away for approx 2 months. April 16 while going for a drive on the highway, truck shifted down gears while cruise was set at 65mph the had trouble getting into gear so I pulled to the side and shut her down after I noticed a engine light come on. Luckily I had a scanner in my vehicle that I carry all the time and the code PO741 CAME UP. TORQUE converter and impellar, sensors, wiring issue. I called dealer immediately to set up apps and they came to same conclusion, TORQUE converter, impellar, trans lines .

While driving down the road, my Transmission stopped working. I was on the highway while coming up to speed, my truck would not pick up speed and would not shift into gear. I had the vehicle towed to a nearby automotive shop, where they said there was internal damage to my transmission and recommended a new transmission or a rebuild. There was no warning or any warnings that the transmission was going to fail. It just stopped being operational. My vehicle only has 67k miles on it.

GM already has a recall for brakes going out at low speed this has happened multiple times on this vehicle but there's no recall according to this Vin, the second is the transmission shakes the entire vehicle violently at higher speeds, commonly known as the "chevy shake." Multiple dealers refuse to look at the truck charging upfront fees and saying there's nothing wrong with it since there are no warning lights or other sensors on or reporting any errors, both problems have been recalled on similar vehicles just not for this Vin #, a truck with no brakes can put many at risk

On 1/20/2022, my son & I were traveling I-80 east to NV. At approximately 130 miles, we noticed the engine was sputtering occasionally along the flat road. It got worse on a climb, but engine runs smoothly. It seems fine on a downhill, but on a flat road & on a climb the problem continues & was getting worse. We checked the spark plug connections to make sure they are tight & secured. After a brief refuel stop in Elko, NV, we proceeded to travel again and at approximately 4:30 am 5 miles from Elko, NV, the engine went to high revolution, oil pressure to the max, check engine light came on, and the speed suddenly reduced to 30mph, transmission will not shift/or could not go any faster. Things became scary as semi truck was barreling behind us at high rate of speed and we almost got rear-ended on an icy road. We exited immediately to the next exit (Exit 314) and parked at a Sinclair gas station and called for a tow. The truck was towed to Riverton Elko Chevy dealer. Further investigation revealed metal shavings at the bottom of the pan which means the truck requires new transmission. Initially we were told that the repair cost would be $2.8K to change the shift control solenoid, then $4K for solenoid & valve body, then $8.5 for new transmission. The truck only had 67K miles, just 5K above the warranty expiration. It was serviced early last year (45K) from the local dealership. Prior to that, I took the truck to the same dealership for brake problem/recall and after that, for another problem with speed hesitation, loud thud under the truck when moving, and sputtering. We currently have the truck at a local mechanic in Elko, NV for an upgraded transmission replacement. We chose to not use the Chevy Dealer as their quoted repairs did not seem ethical at the time. The Chevy Dealer was helpful after giving poor service and they did tow the truck to the local mechanic without charge to us. As per the mechanic this is a very common problem on this model.

In the midst of rush hour traffic without any indication in a major interstate, 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT lost power as the engine reeved up and then check engine light came on. Once vehicle was carefully moved from interstate with citizens to the service road, engine running but would go into gears (D, R, L) without any movement. Nov 24, 2021

I bought my 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 certified pre owned on 11/04/2019 shortly after I purchased it I started having problems with it. From brakes to lights. An took it in for the recall on brakes and steering. After that I've not had cruise control, and the stabilitrak warning light has been on. And just about a year ago while driving an pulling trailer, I lost communication to transmission, electronic brake, park assist, trailer brakes, ect. An was forced to stop! After taking it in to dealership to fix it, they did which lasted not even a month and done it again numerous times leaving me stranded. Now just last night 11/23/2021 while pulling my trailer, as I came to a stop sign I hit my brakes and all trailer brakes locked up bringing me to a stop (trailer brake on dash has been set on 0 since they haven't worked since purchased ) I had to unhook trailer wiring to make it home. As I took off I lost communication to transmission again and trailer brake system warning chime kept going off repeatedly, lost dash gauges, causing transmission to get hot. As it was stuck in a certain gear. Your defective wiring/ electrical system has fault and potentially caused a SERIOUS accident, and is going to cost me an enormous amount of money to fix. Also the torque converter has been acting up for a year, forcing me to purchase a tuner just to stretch the life of transmission. This vehicle is NOT safe to drive on highway! This vehicle is life threatening. Putting my life, my familys life and innocent peoples life's in danger! Problem needs resolved or reimbursement/ new truck. A $37,000 truck should not be life-threatening. This truck has spent more time in a garage than on the highway. Solutions have to be done. Why pay for a $37,000 truck you can't use or risk everyone's lives!

Oct 25, 2021

Several times when coming to a stop at low speed, the RPMs stay at 1500 despite having foot off accelerator, requiring greatly increased brake pressure to stop or maintain stopping. Seems that the transmission does not downshift to low gear. Just bought vehicle used two days ago, happened three times today. This easily could have resulted in an vehicle or pedestrian accident.

Sep 10, 2021

In the last few weeks there have been five instances of the vehicle downshifting multiple gears at approximately 60 MPH with a hard shift. The vehicle was in 2wd mode during all events. This occurred twice on wet roads and resulted in a momentary loss of control which I was able to recover when the rear wheels suddenly slowed and skidded. The vehicle was taken to Brenegen Chevrolet in Onalaska, WI today. The dealer was unable to replicate the issue and charged me for diagnostic time. Vehicle mileage is 53k

MY SILVERADO IS EXHIBITING THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES DESCRIBED IN MANY COMPLAINTS HERE ALREADY, I.E., A SLIPPING/SHUDDERING FEELING AS IT PROGRESSES THROUGH THE GEARS AND A FREQUENT CLUNK/BANG AT TIMES WHEN IT DOWNSHIFTS. IT HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WITH TIME. I AM SURPRISED THERE IS NOT SOME SORT OF BULLETIN OR RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE CONSIDERING IT IS DESCRIBED SO EXACTLY IN SO MANY DIFFERENT COMPLAINTS. OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT THAT CHEVROLET SHOULD CORRECT AT ITS EXPENSE.

PURCHASED MY VEHICLE JUST A FEW MONTHS AGO AND HAD ZERO ISSUES, OTHER THAN PESKY AFM BULL. WITHIN THE LAST MONTH, TRANSMISSION BEGAN SHUDDERING AND JERKING AS IF SLIPPING GEARS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. SOON THEREAFTER, A WHINING NOISE STARTED THAT WAS MORE PREVALENT DURING GEAR CHANGE. SPOKE TO TECHNICIANS AT MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MODEL AND TRANSMISSION. ACCORDING TO THIS SENIOR TECHNICIAN, THEY HAVE FOUND THAT A FLUID SWAP CAN CURE THESE ISSUES BECAUSE THE WHAT IS CALLED FOR FROM FACTORY JUST DOESN'T CUT THE MUSTARD. CHECKED THE SYSTEM, AND TO MY ASTONISHMENT, THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE. TAKE MY TRUCK IN FOR SERVICES, HOPING ALL I WOULD NEED STILL IS THE FLUID SWAP, AND NOW THE TECHNICIANS ARE TELLING ME I NEED TO FORK OVER 5K FOR A NEW NEW TRANSMISSION BECAUSE MINE IS SHOT. EVEN MORE TO MY AMAZEMENT, I START LOOKING AROUND ON THIS SITE AND THERE HAVE BEEN A TON OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS SURROUNDING THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL TRANAMISSION, AND YET, GM HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT OR PREVENT THESE PROBLEMS FROM PERSISTING.

I BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE PROBLEM I AM ABOUT TO EXPLAIN SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING MY TRUCK. I WOULD EXPERIENCE AN ABRUPT SHIFT FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR SHORTLY AFTER STARTING AND ON OCCASION IT WOULD ABRUPTLY SHIFT DOWN FROM SECOND TO FIRST, FEELING AS THOUGH I HAD BEEN REAR ENDED. I SCHEDULED MY FIRST ROUTINE SERVICE ON DECEMBER 16, 2017 AT 6217 MILES. THE SERVICE WRITER, AT THE SELLING DEALERSHIP, ADVISED ME THE COMPLAINT I WAS EXPERIENCING WAS "NORMAL", AS THE TRANSMISSION HAD "TO LEARN MY DRIVING HABITS" AND WOULD CLEAR BY MY NEXT ROUTINE SERVICE. MY NEXT ROUTINE SERVICE WAS NOVEMBER 29, 2018, AFTER HAVING ONLY DRIVEN 5,000 MILES AND I AGAIN COMPLAINED ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE. THIS SERVICE WRITER ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL TOO NEW AND THAT IT'S NOT COMPLETED LEARNING MY DRIVING HABITS UNTIL AT LEAST 15,000 TO 20,000 MILES. I HAVE SINCE SEARCHED SEVERAL CHEVY TRUCK FORUMS (I.E. CARCOMPLAINTS.COM, GMTRUCKCLUB.COM, AND GM-TRUCK.COM) AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINANTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE EXPERIENCED BY OWNERS ACROSS THE STATES. EVERYONE COMPLAINS OF CHEVY NOT ABLE TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM AND CITING "NORMAL" OPERATION. ON MAY 28, 2020 I WROTE TO CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER. ON JUNE 26, 2020 I RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM CHEVROLET IN A LETTER STATING THEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO CONTACT ME AND IF THERE WAS NO FURTHER ISSUES THEY WOULD CLOSE THE CASE. I CALLED THE NUMBER IN THE LETTER AND SPOKE TO "[XXX]", REFUSING ANY FURTHER IDENTIFICATION, STATING HE WOULD TRY AND GET ME ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE INSPECTED. I AM AWAITING A RESPONSE. JUST YESTERDAY, WHILE APPROACHING THE COMMUNITY SECURITY GATE AT MY HOUSING COMPLEX, THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY SHIFTED FROM FIRST TO SECOND, LURCHING FORWARD, REQUIRING ME TO ABRUPTLY BRAKE TO AVOID CONTACT. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHEVROLET IS REFUSING TO ADDRESS. PLEASE HELP!! INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IT HAS ALWAYS SHIFTED HARD AND SHUDDERED. I TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE MY AUTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE WAS ON. IT CONTINUED TO HAVE ISSUES FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS AND EACH TIME I TOOK IT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE THEY WOULD TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE THE HOOD LATCH NEEDED REPLACED. REPLACED THAT AND 2 DAYS LATER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN. TOOK IT BACK AND THEY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHY IT WAS ON. 3 DAYS LATER, MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT. HERE I AM, OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY AND NO WAY TO PAY THE 5,000 IT TAKES TO REPAIR MY TRANSMISSION. AS I AM READING ONLINE, IT SEEMS THAT THE ISSUES I WAS HAVING, GM WAS AWARE OF AND HASN'T MADE A FIX FOR THIS YET. GM REFUSES TO FIX MY TRANSMISSION WHEN THEY ARE AWARE OF ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL.

TRUCK TRANSMISSION WAS GOOD UNTIL ABOUT 2,000 MILES. TRUCK HAS DELAYS WHEN PUTTING IN GEAR AFTER IT SITS OVERNIGHT. TRUCK HAS HARSH LOW SPEED DOWNSHIFTS. PROBLEMS ARE REAL BAD WHEN VEHICLE IS COLD. WHEN YOU COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND LET OFF THE BRAKE THE TRUCK WILL SOMETIMES LUNGE FORWARD. TOOK TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR A WEEK LATER WITH ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THEY DID A "TIMING" TEST AND FELT THE DELAY AND DID 16NA364 UPDATE. IT SEEMED TO HELP FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND PROBLEM RETURNED. BOTH DEALERSHIPS ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT GM IS NOT PROVIDING A FIX. I NOW WARM THE TRUCK UP A FEW MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING TO HELP WITH DELAYED GEAR ENGAGEMENT. HARSH DOWNSHIFTS CONTINUE WITH THE LUNGING AND SLOW RESPONSE AT TIMES WHEN APPLYING GAS PETAL. YOU HAVE TO BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS NOT TO BE A MAJOR PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE STICKER PRICE WAS $64,000 DOLLARS. I WISH I HAD MY OLD TRUCK BACK BECAUSE IT WAS RELIABLE AND NOT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. GENERAL MOTORS NEED FIX THIS PROBLEM OR AT LEAST GIVE AN FREE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE PICKUP SHAKES AT SPEEDS TYPICALLY BETWEEN 30-45 AND 55-75. IT SHAKES HARD ENOUGH AND LONG ENOUGH AT TIMES WHERE AT HIGHER SPEEDS BECOMES DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COMPROMISES THE STEERING WHERE THE TRUCK CAN COME OFF ITS LINE AND BECOME UNSTABLE. IT WILL ALSO SHAKE RANDOMLY AND FOR UNKNOWN PERIODS OF TIME. WHEN IT STARTS I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT AND NO CONTROL OVER WHEN IT STARTS OR STOPS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER A COUPLE TIMES NOW. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REBALANCE THE WHEELS AND PUT ON NEW TIRES SO I DID BOTH. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN WHEN IT DEACTIVATES 4 CYLINDERS. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS SPECIFIC ENGINE AND GM IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE AS THE TRUCK BECOMES UNSTABLE AND STEERING IS COMPROMISED. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF THIS CONTINUES INTO WINTER MONTHS WHERE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE NOT THE BEST.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES. WHEN RETURNING TO THE VEHICLE 10 MINUTES AFTER PARKING IT, THE VEHICLE STARTER WAS ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE DESPITE NO REMOTE START OR ONSTAR APP BEING ACTIVATED TO START THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO CRANK AND START, EVEN AFTER I UNLOCKED THE VEHICLE WITH MY KEY FOB, INSERTED THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION, AND ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF THE KEY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO CRANK AND START AND I SMELLED A STRONG ELECTRICAL BURNING SMELL. I THEN SAW BLUE/GREYISH SMOKE COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE WHERE THE HOOD MEETS THE WINDSHIELD. I THEN GATHERED MY BELONGINGS FROM THE TRUCK AND WATCHED FROM A SAFE DISTANCE. AFTER THE SMOKE, THE TRUCK NO LONGER ATTEMPTED TO CRANK OR START ITSELF AND THE SMOKE WAS GONE WITHIN 5 MINUTES, ALTHOUGH THERE WERE SMALL INSTANCES OF SMOKE OVER THE NEXT 15 MINUTES. THE TRUCK WAS PUT ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS AT THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. INITIAL DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THE "STARTER HAD CONSUMED ITSELF" AND WAS THE CAUSE OF THE SMOKE I SAW, BUT NO FURTHER INFORMATION WAS AVAILABLE. PURCHASED MY 17 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 ON 11/28/17 AND RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 12/1/17. THIS WAS DUE TO A SEVERE SHUDDERING & SHIFTING IN THE TRANSMISSION & SEVERE SHAKE IN THE FRONT END AT 70-90MPH. THEY BALANCED & ROTATED THE TIRES, SAYING THE ISSUE WAS FIXED, I PICKED THE VEHICLE BACK UP ON 12/4/17 BUT THE ISSUE WAS NOT FIXED & AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE HAD ALSO OCCURRED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK ON 12/7/18 WITH THE SAME COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION & SHAKING IN THE FRONT END, AS WELL AS THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE. THE PROBLEM ELECTRICALLY WAS WHILE SITTING AT A STOPLIGHT THE BRIGHT LIGHTS FLASHED & THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SCREEN WENT BLANK. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME ON 12/8/17, TOLD ME THEY HAD BEEN UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUES, FINDING NOTHING WRONG. I LEFT IT OVER THE WEEKEND, WENT IN MONDAY MORNING & SPOKE TO THE SERVICE MANAGER DIRECTLY. HE TOLD ME HE HAD PURCHASED THE SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUES. SAID THERE WAS A POSSIBLE FIX BY EXCHANGING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID & THEY WOULD USE A NEW MACHINE PICO TO CHECK IT OUT. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER DUE TO MALFUNCTIONING & PERFORM A PROGRAMMING MODULE UPDATE ON RADIO, I PICKED IT UP ON 12/22/17, ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL NOT RESOLVED. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR TRANSMISSION SHUDDER, SHIFT & SHAKE ISSUE MOST NOTICEABLE AT 70-90MPH, & RADIO ISSUE. THEY WERE ADVISED TO PERFORM A MODULE UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION & GIVEN 2 OPTIONS ON THE RADIO, THEY CHOSE TO REPLACE THE SCREEN. I TOOK IT BACK TO THAT SAME DEALERSHIP, MODULE UPDATE MADE TRANSMISSION/FRONT END ISSUE WORSE, ESPECIALLY COMING OUT OF A CURVE. THEY'VE REPLACED MY 2 BACK TIRES SAID THEY WERE BAD & SHOULD FIX THE SHAKING ISSUE IN THE FRONT END. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE TRANSMISSION ISSUES THUS THEY CANNOT REPAIR IT. OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES ARE BEING TOLD GM KNOWS BUT CAN'T FIX TRANSMISSION ISSUE.

UNSAFE CHARACTERISTIC!!!! INADVERTENT HARD SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR OR WHEN DRIVING LESS THAN 10 MPH. THE SEVERITY OF THE SHIFT HAS NEARLY CAUSED MULTIPLE ACCIDENTS DUE TO UNPREDICTABILITY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT IS A VERY STARTLING EVENT THAT CAN MAKE YOU INCREASE THROTLE PRESS AND ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE, OVERSTEER IN LOW SPEEDTURNS, ABRUPTLY APPLY THE BRAKES TO KEEP FROM RUNNING INTO OBJECTS INCLUDING PEOPLE AND DIZZYNESS FROM YOUR HEAD STRIKING THE HEADREST. EACH MORNING WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK I HAVE TO MAKE A U-TURN. I NEVER KNOW WHEN OR HOW HARD THE TRANSMISSION WILL KICK. I'VE ALMOST RAN INTO A SIGN/POLE IF I HADN'T QUICKLY STEERED AWAY FROM IT.
