Issue is based off of this service bulletin, but GM has failed to call a recall on this for coverage. I was driving my daughter to softball practice. Every few minutes there would be a "stabilitrak" message showing on the driving information area. Then in slower speeds my dashboard screen would blank out and then go back to CarPlay. Then once I approached a parking lot at slower speeds my vehicle lost total power and shut down. Then had to switching the gear to park, then turn off the ignition key, then wait a few seconds and turn the key on to start the truck. It started as normal and was able to park in the parking space. Very scary and this is a very serious issue, I could have been in an accident with my daughter. This has to be addressed, I can't be the only one having this issue.
Unknown system or component failure. Vehicle is available upon request to inspect. My families safety was at risk, power steering goes out while driving, all service lights come on, vehicle goes into “limp mode”, would go in and out of gear while driving, gears won’t work properly (P,R,D…), when shifting into R camera won’t come on. This problem is continuing. Have not been able to get it into dealership. Vehicle has not been inspected by police, dealership, or insurance. Stabilitrak notification, and all service lights go off. No problem or symptoms prior to failure. Vehicle was well maintained and I have service records of every repair, oil change, etc.
We bought this truck in 2020 with only in two years had to have the transmission rebuilt within warranty 2 1/2 years later after rebuilding the transmission with the dealer warranty, the transmission gives out again same problems as before now the warranty expired and we have to pay out of pocket to have the transmission replaced as no one is reaponxible for repairs. This has been an ongoing issue since the beginning And I don’t understand what this transmission is not being recalled if you could please explain multiple people that I have talked to and multiple mechanics have advised me that this is an ongoing issue with this make and model. I only wish I had known this before purchasing and now I’m hoping that I can get help on this.
Electronics for hands free stopped working. This part was already replaced once. When backing up, the whole truck shut down. I restarted, it said to roll drivers side window down and up. Truck started up again. Few days later... returning from trip, lost power, windshield wipers came on, electronics in truck started blinking. Pulled over, rolled driver's side window up and down. started back on road. This has happened numerous times. Whenever I gave it extra gas, asking for power to pass, same thing mentioned above happened. Very stressful! Next day, hit a hole, truck totally shut down again. Husband was able to safely coast off road, however, if he had been pulling out at a major intersection, this could have been bad. Warning light that comes with shutdown says "stabltrack issue". I have not seen our dealer service department yet, but plan to very soon. VERY unsafe... and I love this truck!!!!
THE LOCK ACTUATORS ON THE TRUCK HAVE FAILED MULTIPLE TIMES ON EACH DOOR. THE REAR LOCKS HAVE FAILED AGAIN. I HAVE REPLACED THEM NUMEROUS TIMES. I DO SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON FORUMS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I ALWAYS HAVE TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE MY DOORS LOCK WHEN I EXIT MY VEHICLE. I HAVE PUT TODAYS DATE AS THE INCIDENT DUE TO MULTIPLE TIMES THE LOCKS HAVE FAILED
Rear defrost shorted and shattered the glass.
Rear driver side window panel cracked due to cold weather no incident or accident occurred. It just cracked and needs to be replaced. This to me is unusual for tempered glass.
This 2017 Silverado 2500HD LT L5P is showing limited distance with an error message of "DEF FLUID EMPTY" when it is not. There are no codes for DEF (the only codes are showing glow plugs, NOX1, and the Body Control Module). The truck will permit REGEN but not DEF fluid quality or pressure tests. Pin 14 displays 0v (empty). Five months ago the DEF pump was replaced with a NEW pump.

We Bought a Chevy Silverado 1500 truck used in Nov 2021for purpose of towing RV trailer. In having axel bearings packed on trailer March [XXX], 2024, the RV mechanic noticed no wear or brake dust. He checked and determined RV brakes had never engaged and found no power to the RV brakes in the plug in port on back of truck. Took to dealer, Chesrown in Delaware Ohio, on [XXX], 2024. After having truck all day they said issue was brake modulator which they reprogrammed. We hooked up RV trailer and brakes still do not work. Hand brake controller on dash will engage the trailer brakes , but not the foot brake. In researching online, there is a great deal of discussion about GM knowing about and not addressing the issue. There’s a known defect in a wiring harness between two of the body control modules. This part is known for broken wires and for connective issues. We reached out to GM Customer service at 800-222-1020, who took our information and said they would contact the dealer. We took truck in today and explained again what the issue was and what we had learned from our research. There are currently several recalls on 2022 and 2023 Silverados for the same trailer brake issues. GM needs to take responsibility for this critical service issue!! We CAN NOT tow a RV trailer WITHOUT BRAKES! When we asked the service manager why the tow package was not part of the inspection process when they took the vehicle in and placed it for sale as a used vehicle, he said they don’t do that. Seems to us, that when a dealer sells a vehicle, all parts should be in working order. Especially with a factory installed tow package. PLEASE research and contact GM and have them issue a RECALL on ALL of their vehicles with factory tow packages to ensure the safety of all of those driving them! You will find numerous forums online where the biggest complaint is the trailer brake system not working and people very frustrated with the lack of response from not only GM but the dealers. Stabilitrak notification came on and truck shut off. Took vehicle to O’Reillys to see what was wrong. Test machine was not picking anything up. There was no issue But the truck shut off while on the highway and i called my insurance
I went to my truck after an 8 hour shift at work, simply opened my door got into my truck and when I shut the door, my back window literally exploded into a thousand pieces. I am in no way joking at all, I shut my door and the back window busted into thousands of pieces. I was and still am shocked.
AC condenser leak, no cold air blowing. Only 82,539 miles. I took my truck to Chevy and was told about the issue and the cost amount to replace. I asked if that’s under warranty or recall. Chevy dealer told me no. Because there haven’t been too many complaints about it, so it’s not yet a recall. Then the service person then proceed to tell me the repair cost amount which was around $1100. And I was also told that Chevy now has a better AC condenser part to replace the defective ones. This obviously upsets me because this truck has been nothing but problems for me. I took my truck to a mechanic shop and had the AC condenser replaced for way less than what Smith Chevrolet of Turlock CA quoted me on cost. My mechanic showed me the defective part and where it’s leaking at. The AC condenser is built poorly. Plastic parts attached to the side of the condenser cracks easily as I was told, causing it to leak freon.
Radiator leak, coolant fully drained out, truck overheated. Approximately 86,000 + miles. I recently replaced the AC condenser back in [XXX]. Which I submitted a complaint form also. Reference below. Request #[XXX] Complaint number [XXX] Then in [XXX] I had the radiator replaced. This was due to a leak that caused all coolant to drain. The engine overheated because of the radiator leak. I was on the freeway when this happened. I ended up taking my truck to be inspected at a mechanic shop. I was then showed the issue of the leak. The radiator is poorly designed and is a similar issue to the AC condenser I had just replaced. The sides of the radiator is made of plastic which cracks or warp causing it to leak. I took pictures of the defective radiator after it was taken out. I decided not to go to a Chevy dealership, simply because of the higher cost. Before leaving the house, it sounded like a static noise was coming from the speakers. I turned the radio off and the noise was still there. I get out of the truck to check the back seat area (where the noise was coming from). I put my ear near the window and it almost sounded like a can of something was being sprayed. It was weird, because nothing was in the back of the cab. Anyway, I thought "that's weird" and drove off, not giving it much thought. As I was walking to the truck at Sam's Club, I hit the automatic start. While loading the groceries in the truck, the noise now sounded like a sizzling, snapping sound. Then, I noticed few snowflakes landing near the back window were causing that sound. Again, I thought "that is so weird"!! I put the cart back, got in the truck and started it. At that point, it smelled like something was burning. I jumped out and opened the back door to get a closer look. While trying to figure out what was going on, smoke started coming up from both sides of the back windshield. I ran to the front to take the keys out of the ignition and then the window exploded!! I was so scared to start the truck again, wondering what else was about to happen. Thankfully, I was able to get it home with no other issues. It's now at the dealership getting looked at. They mentioned no recalls, but a quick google search shows that this is clearly an issue!! In 2019, Canada actually recalled over 159,000 vehicles over the high potential of catching on fire!!! After learning this, I'm so happy it didn't actually catch on fire!!

The Stabilitrak system is malfunctioning on my vehicle. It does it intermittently but can be available for inspection. When the stabilitrak system malfunctions, the vehicle will either shut down completely while driving, violently jerk the wheel to one side, or it shorts out the system for brief seconds while driving. Once the system malfunctions the "Stabilitrack" warning light comes on as well as the check engine light and traction control light. I have had the truck looked at on more than one occasion. The dealership I purchased it from first said they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle, but after showing them the video they came down to a bad power steering control module. I am having a second mechanic look at it to see if there is another solution. I have been reading this is a common problem on these vehicles and it is caused by a bad ground under the dash.
My truck shuts off on its on ,steering wheel locks and truck shuts off . Very scary while on the road .
2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 6-speed 6L80 had a torque converter failure and the transmission had metal debris. The vehicle would jerk or hard shift on acceleration while on the highway. When stopped at a light the truck RPMs would increase and then hesitate, jerk, and then move. This started as being barely noticeable and within a couple of weeks became extremely dangerous. I was on my way to the dealer for inspection when at a light and the RMPs went up it hesitated, jerked, and then moved, jerked again, then stopped. The vehicle was inspected by the dealer before purchase in Nov 2022 and this took place in April 2023. The vehicle was towed to GM service center/dealer who said the torque converter and transmission were issued and needed to be replaced. I moved it to another transmission shop to have the work done. No warning lights. From the time the light jerks/rough shifts randomly happened to the time the hard jerks/hard shifts happened almost causing an accident only a couple of times once in Dec 2022 and then it ran fine. On 4/22/23 I felt it again and headed towards the GM when it happened harshly and I didn't make it due to the RMP reve, hard jerk, and then nothing. I was lucky that this time I was in town and not on a highway.
Service stability track light come on and off check engine light does not come on so you can’t pull the code to see what’s wrong cause the vehicle to cut off while driving upon looking this problem up a lot of people are having this problem the dealership told me it’s no way to pin point the problem unless the check engine light come on it’s very unsafe cause this makes the cars cut on and off while driving
While driving, the touch screen “touches itself” changing settings, making and ending calls, turning off by itself, dimming and brightening the screen while driving.
After starting my truck, my kids and i entered a few minutes later, we smelled a faint burning smell but seemed to have faded. driving 50yards away from my home, my rear window (glass on side of sliding window) randomly made the spider web/Crack effect all over the glass and had started crumbling off.
Automatic transmission causing hesitation or stalling feeling when pulling into traffic. Also, now getting a shudder or vibration at variable speeds from 25 to 75 MPH. Called dealer, known common problem with GM 8-speed transmission. Dealer suggested getting a transmission fluid flush and change. Trying to get that scheduled at this time. Doing an internet search, this seems to be a very common problem with these transmissions.
The service trailer brake system warning went off on a return trip from Minnesota August 18. It chimed incessantly- probably every 5-8 seconds while driving. It was a huge distraction. I finally pulled over and pulled fuse #1 in the engine compartment hoping this would alleviate the chimes and now it only chimes every 3-5 minutes. I have NEVER used the trailer brake system as I only trailer my boat without it.
When towing RV the warning indicator “check trailer wiring” continually pops up and chimes and the trailer breaks continuously malfunction. This causes imminent danger to our family and others on the road as the trailer breaks malfunction and the continual chiming and warning lights take focus off the road.
Hello- I'm constantly receiving a repetitive service trailer brake system chime while driving and/or in park which is very dangerous! The exact warning message that pops up on my screen constantly says: Trailer Brake System. I have 87,531 on my certificated pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado_Redline edition. Extensive research leads me to believe that the wire harness in between two of the body control modules is detective! I TRULY BELIEVE that GM/Chevrolet Corporation should be held accountable in recalling the DEFECTIVE low quality wire harness on all 2017 Chevy Silverado's. I went outside and started my truck as I normally do. After a few seconds of the rear defroster being on I heard a sizzling noise behind me. I turned around and could see white smoke coming out and filling the truck w smoke. I quickly turned the rear defroster off and then the truck. The whole component has melted for the rear deforster and rear power window. The truck has less that 60,000 mi. After a quick Google search I learned this is apparently a known issue. This is an absolute safety hazard and needs to be addressed immediately. I shouldn't have to pay for a repair on the electrical wiring or faulty parts that were installed by the manufacturer.
AC CONDENSER FAILED AT 51000 MILES DUE TO POOR WELD! "THIS IS A WELL KNOWN ISSUE FOR GM 2015-2017 MODELS". THERE HAS BEEN A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #17336-04 ISSUED BY GM FOR ESCALADE,SUBURBAN,TAHOE AND YUKON MODELS BUT NOT FOR TRUCKS. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED BY GM. THE LEAKING OF THESE REFRIGERANTS IS TOXIC TO PEOPLE AND THE ENVIRONMENT AND HIGHLY FLAMMABLE.
ran system check and found code p0796 performed test drive and found torque converter switch slipping-checked fluid in the pan found excessive amount of debris removed transmission and disassembled finding 4-5-6 clutch burnt mup and debis went through the valve body and tcm - bushings are also damaged from debris , 75400 milees on 2017 silverado truck
My vehicles trailer breaking system keeps activating cause the brakes to activate. Additionally, it is activating my stabilitrak system and turns the vehicle off and on. These issues coralate with recall #19V761000.
I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado on February 1st of this year, and over the last 4 months have put only 5,000 miles on it. On June 20th, on my way back from a 10-hour trip, where I was towing a trailer with a car on it, my trailer brakes suddenly stopped functioning (about 4 hours from home). Not only did the trailer brakes stop functioning, but a warning message popped up on the dashboard "service trailer brake system". But this warning message didn't pop up just one time, it kept coming again and again and again and again and again, relentlessly chiming and distracting me from driving, it covered my speedometer readout, it prevented me from receiving or making voice commands, prevented me from hearing phone calls, and prevented me from listening to music. The service warning chime also prevented the turn signal chime from functioning. So for a full 4 hours, I was constantly reminded with a service trailer brake system chime, was unable to hear my turn signal chime, was unable to listen to music or make a phone call, and was unable to see the digital readout of my speed. The vehicle had been rendered completely undrivable, and I absolutely will not hesitate to say that the vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. Especially if you consider that I was towing 5,000 lbs with no working trailer brakes. GM's defective wire harness endangered my life. Consumer stated wire harness has not been replaced and manufacture refused to honor CPO warranty.
Hi, My company purchased this truck brand new. Since the 1st I time drove it I realized that I can easily smell the pollution on the out side, inside the truck. Even with windows up and Air Condition on cabin air recirculate mode. This is a problem I did not have on my 2000 Silverado 1500 model. The pollution from other vehicles in front of my truck would be sucked right into my truck and into my lungs. So every time I would get behind a smokey truck or near it, a few cars behind, I would have to open the windows to get that air out and if iI was stuck behind that truck then the smell was not going anywhere. I will be very happy to see this addressed. I see this as a major issue with this truck. Please help.

TRAVELING APPROX 30MPH, ON A CITY STREET, ANOTHER VEHICLE TURNED LEFT IN FRONT OF ME, I DID NOT EVEN HAVE TIME TO HIT THE BRAKES. I HAD A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT AND THAT SEATBELT LOCKED, THE PASSENGER WAS NOT INJURED AND ONLY A LITTLE SORE IN THE NECK AND BACK THE NEXT DAY.

MY TRUCK SHUT OFF, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND WOULD NOT RESTART. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES WITHIN THREE WEEKS. I HADE TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED BOTH TIMES. THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T GIVE ME A REASON FOR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP RETURNED THE TRUCK TO ME AFTER ONE WEEK THE FIRST TIME, TWO WEEKS THE SECOND TIME. THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO RESTART, UNTIL IT SAT FOR A DAY BOTH TIMES. THEY COULDN'T GIVE ME A REASON FOR THE SHUTDOWN ETHER TIME.

THE PICKUP SHAKES AT SPEEDS TYPICALLY BETWEEN 30-45 AND 55-75. IT SHAKES HARD ENOUGH AND LONG ENOUGH AT TIMES WHERE AT HIGHER SPEEDS BECOMES DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT COMPROMISES THE STEERING WHERE THE TRUCK CAN COME OFF ITS LINE AND BECOME UNSTABLE. IT WILL ALSO SHAKE RANDOMLY AND FOR UNKNOWN PERIODS OF TIME. WHEN IT STARTS I HAVE NO CONTROL OVER IT AND NO CONTROL OVER WHEN IT STARTS OR STOPS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT INTO THE DEALER A COUPLE TIMES NOW. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID I NEEDED TO REBALANCE THE WHEELS AND PUT ON NEW TIRES SO I DID BOTH. THE SECOND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN WHEN IT DEACTIVATES 4 CYLINDERS. THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT SEEMS THAT IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS SPECIFIC ENGINE AND GM IS CLAIMING THERE IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS COMPLETELY FALSE AS THE TRUCK BECOMES UNSTABLE AND STEERING IS COMPROMISED. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE ESPECIALLY IF THIS CONTINUES INTO WINTER MONTHS WHERE ROAD CONDITIONS ARE NOT THE BEST.

TRUCK EXHIBITS A ROUGH IDLE AFTER TRUCK IS DRIVEN AND WARM. IDLE CAUSES TEH TRUCK TO SHAKE AND FEELS LIKE IT WILL DIE AT STOPS. RPM DROPS BELOW 300 RPM THEN GOES BACK TO 490 RPM. IN ADDITION THE TRUCK WILL START TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 75-80 MPH. GMC SERVICE PERFORMED TSB CHANGING OUR ENGINE MOUNTS BUT THAT HAS NOT FIXED THE ISSUE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON SILVERADOS AND NO FIX IN SITE. CONCERNED WITH SEAT VIBRATION THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO POTENTIAL DRIVE TRAIN PART FAILURE.

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN I HEARD IT POP AFTER TURNING ON DEFROSTER. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN CHEVROLET / GM VEHICLES SPANNING MANY YEARS.
THERE'S A BOX UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN THAT CAN VIBRATE LOOSE AND FALL BY YOUR FEET WHILE DRIVING. IT FALLS RIGHT BESIDE THE BRAKE AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SAFELY BRAKE WITHOUT IT SWINGING AROUND. IT CAN BE REPLACED BUT IS CAPABLE OF VIBRATING LOOSE OVER AND OVER.

MY VEHICLE IS A PICKUP WITH THE Z71 OFF ROAD PACKAGE. I USE IT WORKING ON FARM AND PASTURE LAND WHICH REQUIRES ME TO DRIVE OFF ROAD IN TALL GRASS AND BRUSH AT TIMES. I NOTICED, AND IT WAS CALLED TO ATTENTION, THAT GRASS AND BRUSH WAS COLLECTING AROUND THE REAR AXLE, DRIVE LINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. I GOT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND FOUND TWO LARGE PLASTIC CLAMPS AROUND THE AXLE HOUSING THAT HAVE A LARGE V SHAPED OPENING FACING THE FRONT OF THE PICKUP. THE CLAMPS ARE CATCHING AND HOLDING GRASS AND BRUSH WHICH THEN BUILDS UP AS THE VEHICLE TRAVELS. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH NUMBER ONE COULD CAUSE A FIRE, CAUSE DAMAGE AND FAILURE OF THE DRIVE LINE AND ENDANGERS MY SAFETY BY HAVING TO CRAWL UNDER THE VEHICLE TO REMOVE THE BRUSH AND GRASS. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS NEW 6/25/17 TO CURRENT.

REAR FACING CAMERA CAN NOT BE DIMMED. WHEN BACKING AT NIGHT, CAMERA DISPLAY IS SO BRIGHT YOU CAN'T USE YOUR MIRRORS. YOU CAN NOT FOCUS ON ANYTHING THAT MAY BE ALONG SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS TO ANYONE WHO MIGHT BE OUT OF SIGHT OF THE CAMERA. I HAVE READ THAT OLDER YEAR VEHICLES HAVE A CAMERA DISPLAY DIM FEATURE.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TRUCK HESITATES TO THE POINT WHERE YOU COULD GET HIT OR YOU HAVE TO PUSH PEDAL HARD WHICH MAKES VEHICLE JERK OR SPIN TIRES, ESPECIALLY WHEN WET PAVEMENTS. ALSO WILL STUTTER AND VIBRATE AT HIGHER SPEEDS. BEEN TOLD IT'S NORMAL FOR THIS TRUCK WITH ITS FUEL SAVING [XXX] FROM 4-8 CYLINDER. NOT SAFE AT ALL. WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE FOR THE PURPOSE OF BACKING UP, THE RADIO SCREEN ILLUMINATES TO A BLINDING LEVEL OF BRIGHTNESS WHEN THE REAR CAMERA VIEW IS DISPLAYED. THIS IS ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE AT NIGHT AND IMPAIRS MY ABILITY TO SEE OUT OF MY WINDOWS. THERE IS NO ADJUSTMENT WITHIN THE RADIO SETTINGS TO FIX THIS ISSUE, AND THE ROTATING DIAL TO THE LEFT OF THE EXTERIOR LIGHTING KNOB WILL DO NOTHING TO DIM THE SCREEN WHEN IN REVERSE. DURING NORMAL OPERATION (NOT IN REVERSE), THE SCREEN IS ABLE TO DIM WITH THE ROTATING DIAL WHETHER PARKED OR DRIVING. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SOFTWARE ISSUE THAT IF NOT RESOLVED, COULD RESULT IN DETRIMENTAL IMPACTS TO DRIVING SAFETY, ESPECIALLY AT NIGHT. IF CHEVROLET/GM COULD IMPLEMENT AN UPDATE THAT WOULD ALLOW A SOFTWARE UPDATE TO PUT A "SOFT" BUTTON INTO THE SETTINGS MENU, I FEEL THAT OVERALL VISIBILITY WOULD BE IMPROVED GREATLY AND TEMPORARY NIGHT BLINDNESS WOULD BE A THING OF THE PAST. MY VEHICLE IS NOT THE ONLY TYPE OF GM VEHICLE AFFECTED WITH THIS ISSUE.

I HAVE BEEN DRIVING A 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 Z71 PICK-UP TRUCK SINCE FEBRUARY 2017. SINCE NEARLY DAY ONE, THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED VIBRATION AND WOBBLE LIKE SHAKING NOTICEABLE AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BECOMING MORE NOTICEABLE ABOVE 60 MPH. AT CERTAIN INSTANCES THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO EXPERIENCE A MILD BOUNCING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM FOUR TIMES OVER THE COURSE OF OWNERSHIP (APX. SIX MONTHS AT THE TIME OF THIS SUBMISSION) AND APPROXIMATELY 10,000 DRIVING MILES AND THE ISSUE STILL IS ONGOING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAD CALLED IN A FIELD ENGINEER TO HELP WITH THE ISSUE, TWICE, THEY AS WELL, UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIRES, ROAD FORCE BALANCED WHEELS AND TIRES, REPLACED SUSPENSION BUSHINGS, STEERING GEAR BOX, STEERING BUSHINGS, UNMOUNTED THE BODY FROM THE CHASSIS AND UNBOLTED THE EXHAUST SYSTEM, REASSEMBLING IN A DIFFERENT PATTERN, REMOVED CALIPER CLIPS, AND MADE OTHER CHANGES. THE ISSUE STILL EXISTS. FOLLOWING THEIR ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THE ISSUE, THE VEHICLE NOW MAKES A CLUNK NOISE WHEN EXECUTING A TIGHT TURNING RADIUS AND DRIVING OVER A SMALL BUMP (SUCH AS A DRIVEWAY APRON). WHEN THE SHAKING / VIBRATION OCCURS, THE VEHICLE FEELS UNSTABLE AND FEELS AS IF THERE MAY BE A LOSS OF CONTROL.

I AM REQUESTING THAT DOT NHTSA INVESTIGATE THE EXTREME WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKE ON NEW 2017 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW AND DRIVEN UNDER 55 MPH FOR THE FIRST 500 MILES. AFTER THE FIRST 500 MILES AND BEGINNING TO DRIVE HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BETWEEN 60 - 75+ MILES PER HOUR, A WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKE BEGAN TO OCCUR. WHEN THE WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKE BEGINS THE DRIVER FEELS THAT CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS BEING LOST AND THE DRIVER MUST DECREASE THE SPEED, WHICH IS ABLE TO BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH BOTH RELEASING FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR OR LIGHTLY BREAKING, IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR FRONT LEFT WHEEL REPLACEMENT DUE TO THE INABILITY OF ORIGINAL TIRE TO BE BALANCED, THE VEHICLE HAS FIELD FORCE BALANCING 3 TIMES, AND THE LEFT FRONT AXLE BOOT HAS BEEN REPLACED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT THE WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKE, THE VEHICLE NOW HAS ~10,000 MILES, THE WOBBLE/VIBRATION/SHAKE CONTINUES TO OCCUR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.

BOUGHT THE TRUCK 16 NOV 16 IN IDAHO. NOTICED AT THE END OF JAN/EARLY FEB '17 THAT PAINT CHIPS/KNICKS WERE STARTING TO APPEAR ALL OVER THE TRUCK AND IN PLACES WHERE THE ONLY WAY YOU COULD SEE THEM WAS TO THE OPEN A DOOR (I.E. NOT EVEN EXPOSED TO THE ROAD). AFTER MAKING NUMEROUS INQUIRIES TO LOCAL GM DEALERSHIPS, ALL OF WHOM SAID IT WAS SAND DAMAGE, I STARTED DOING RESEARCH. TURNS OUT, I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE ON THEIR TRUCKS. IT APPEARS THE ISSUES WITH PAINT ON GM (BOTH GMC AND SILVERADO) TRUCKS STARTED AROUND MID TO LATE MODEL 2014 TRUCKS AND PERSISTS TO THIS DAY (SEE ATTACHMENTS). ADDITIONALLY, MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP HERE IN RENO, I HAVE FOUND OUT, HAS BEEN LYING TO ME; THEY TOLD ME THEY SUBMITTED TWO SEPARATE REQUESTS TO GM FOR THE TRUCK TO BE REPAINTED AS THEY AGREED WITH ME (IN-PERSON AND VIA PHONE) THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE PAINT. IT TURNS OUT, THIS IS ALL A FARCE. THE TWO REQUESTS THEY SUBMITTED STATED, "CUSTOMER HAS BEEN ADVISED TO FILE A CLAIM WITH THEIR INSURANCE AS DAMAGE IS CAUSED DUE TO SAND DAMAGE. CUSTOMER INSISTS DEALERSHIP SUBMIT A CLAIM TO GM FOR WARRANTY RE-PAINT". WHILST I'M PARAPHRASING HERE, I WAS LIVID TO LEARN THIS WAS 'THEIR BEHIND MY BACK KIND OF THING'. PRIOR TO LEARNING ABOUT THIS SHENANIGAN, I THOUGHT FOR A SECOND THAT PERHAPS THE DEALERSHIPS COULD BE CORRECT, MAYBE IT COULD BE DAMAGE FROM DRIVING. SO, I TOOK IT TO THREE SEPARATE REPAIR FACILITIES IN THE AREA AND ALL OF WHOM SAID THE SAME THING, VERBATIM, "THE CLEAR COAT IS TOO HARD, IT'S LIKE GLASS. FACTORY DEFECT". WELL, THAT CONFIRMED IT. LASTLY, I HAVE JUST RECENTLY CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH I BOUGHT THE TRUCK (IDAHO). THEY ADVISED ME AT 1352 ON 23 MAY 17 TO ESCALATE THIS ISSUE BEYOND GM. AND THAT'S WHY I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT FOLKS. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE BUYING ANY NEW GM PRODUCT.
