My transmission blew up and I almost wrecked my truck. No engine lights came on, and still no engine lights are coming on it only has 69,000 miles on it and has never missed a service. Its currently at the dealership where I bought it from
Torque converter failed which led to premature transmission failure at 115,000. Known common issue with 6L80 and TSB advising this. No recall
shudder while driving
2018 6.2l engine dropped 3 lifters at just a little over 70k miles. Vehicle is my wife’s and almost caused her and my child to have an accident while traveling on highway at posted speed. Vehicle lost power that resulted from premature engine failure resulting in vehicle losing power to the brakes and steering while in heavy traffic. This directly affected my wife and immediately caused her to have a panic attack. Vehicle has always been maintained to the highest levels. This issue affects a substantial amount of these motors around the same mileage. Very bad and unsafe AFM design that is common among vehicles with this engine. Transmission is also experiencing studdering/vibration issues. Right now we have paid out over 5k for engine repairs. Transmission needs repaired and presents a constant safety risk to our family as well as others. GM needs to stand by their products as we consumers put our trust in these vehicles to be safe and to last more than a few miles. My wife and I both have to work and unfortunately we don’t have the extra funds to purchase another vehicle or to keep shelling money out to fix a basically new vehicle that we have babied. Please help us hold companies accountable for their failure to stand behind their products. Thank you for your time.
My 2018 Silverado z71crew cab LT , 5.3L engine was having issues with hold Freon in AC unit. We took to dealer to be fixed in June 2025. They added Freon and it was running good for a week then once again blew but no cold air. So took back second time 7/3/25 and they started the die test and machine went down in middle of doing it. So could not finish fixing . We took back on 07/20/25 and they completed the test needed condenser . So few days later we took to our local mechanic to have the condenser replaced and all is well with the AC unit now. Everything was fine from mid July 2025 till Oct 14 th 2025 , when it started shaking and was running rough and engine light was on so I had it checked for codes to see what it needed. Came back as bad injector. So we took to local mechanic to have injector replaced and tuneup and coils replaced . After this was completed was running much rougher then before we even had that injector and tuneup done. So mechanic suggested for him to keep it and let him dive deeper into what was wrong and why it was running rougher than before, so we let him do that.. after two days, he came back and told us that there was a crack in the engine and that is why it was running rough and that it probably was going to have an engine failure and might be and must be replaced. So I looked up my VIN number to see if there’s any recalls for my particular truck and engine size which is a 5.3 L and it doesn’t show my particular truck but it does show my year of a Silverado and the 3.6 L engine has had the same issues so I was wondering if this recall should be extended to the 5.3 L 2018 seems to be the same problem with the engine block.
2018 Chevy Silverado with 84,000 miles and the transmission is broken. Truck is currently in a shop to have a new transmission installed.
No check engine light come on until continued driving over 15-20 miles. Transmission slams into second gear when taking off or when stopping it may or may not downshift into first causing safety issues when in traffic. Possible electrical error or clutch inside transmission. On this model it is a sealed transmission so no way of identifying if metal shavings come out with a transmission flush. The issue only happens when vehicle is at temperature, if under and still cool drives perfect but as soon as it hits the temperature of 210 it slams very ugly.
Multiple Ttansmission failure, Torque Converter failure which leads to a completely destroyed transmission, vacuum pump to transmission fails which then completely destroys the transmission, transmission cooler failure which destroys said transmission. Due to parts availability, GM continues to replace with reman transmission which continues to fail. 6L80E transmission. Engine catastrophic failure due to stuck lifter, recommended oil weight starved viscosity and causes lifters to become lodged and rockers, valves and other internal parts to fail catastrophically.
1. The components that failed were the transmission because the vehicle was driving and continued to slow down until it came to a complete stop gradually, and had to be pushed home. And also, there was an issue with the doors unlocking on their own and all windows rolling down by themselves. 2. The safety risk was the issues that happened without any knowledge of any issues at all with the vehicle. And the vehicle could have stopped on the highway, and another vehicle could have run into it, and it could have been a very bad incident. And with the doors unlocking and the windows rolling on their own could be exposed to unsafe environments and possibly theft of the vehicle or harm to the occupants. 3. Had a scan done, which showed the issues that were going on with the vehicle 4. I haven't had a chance to have it taken to the manufacturer because it broke down, and I was waiting for some help to get these issues repaired from the manufacturer. And needed from ACC. 5. There wasn't no indicators or lights on when this happened? I was told by a coworker about the windows being down, and with further investigations, I found the doors were unlocked as well, which was done automatically without my control.
The transmission has been shifting hard. I have had it serviced to try and address the issue. It continued to shift hard, until suddenly slamming me down and locking me into first gear. It would not shift from first gear until I found a parking lot, placed it in park, shut the truck off and restarted it. This caused me to nearly rear end the vehicle in front of me. This has not been reproduced to date because the shop cannot get to my truck for 4 weeks and I cannot be without a vehicle for that long (won’t schedule and let me bring in the day before). There has not been an inspection done by anyone because I was able to avoid the collision, and the shop is too far out time wise. There were no prior indications/lights to warn me of a severe problem. The dealership informed me that this has been an ongoing problem with the valve body inside the transmission, but there is no warranty or recall for it. They were sure happy to take my money without telling me of the problems when I bought my truck.
I purchased my truck in December 2018 which is a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 crew cab automatic from Servco Chevrolet Dealership in Waipahu, Hawaii and making monthly payments for my truck February of 2019 truck runs good and purchased the warranty also had my oil and service changed when time is due which I always kept up. [XXX] and mileage was 40k while leaving work to go home at a stop light was red once turned green I pushed pedal to go and truck just changed noise tone started to run like rough idle, loud tapping noise coming from the engine, shaking and check engine light came on almost causing me to get into an accident. I pulled on the side and checked what was going on and heard the tapping noise from the motor. So I made an appointment with service department with Servco Chevrolet Dealership where i bought my truck from and spoke with the service tech for my truck to go in for repairs due to issue. It took 2 to 3 weeks for repairs to be complete and service tech informed me that I'm not the only person to have that issue which had to do with the lifters and camshaft with these motors but GM never came out with any recalls due to how much people has the same motors with the same issue. So luckily it was still covered under warranty but said the problem might come back and would just replace the faulty lifters and camshaft. So in August of 2023 my truck has the same issue but wasn't covered under warranty anymore and mileage is 61k and missed the warranty repairs that was for the lifters which I got it scanned cause check engine light and same issue and code was P0016. So I called Servco Chevrolet dealership in waipahu again and spoke with the service technician which he told me I just missed the coverage of the warranty repair and only way to get it fixed I would have to bring it back for them to scan and roughly would range from 4k to 8k to get it fixed. So my truck is parked in my garage and hasn't been moved but paying for truck. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT
10 miles from home on [XXX] after Thanksgiving with my children sleeping at [XXX] in snowy cold weather, my engine began to fail. Power was limited on hills and the check engine light would come on and go back off when on flat or downhill. The next morning I took my truck to the dealer that I purchased it from where I was told the lifters had failed and I need a new engine. 1000 miles after I replaced my engine my transmission failed completely requiring a transmission replacement. Immediately upon picking up the vehicle and going down a long hill in the area, engine breaking turned on as expected but as the truck tried to slow itself, after 2 or 3 downshifts, the transmission began making a loud grinding sound and while still going close to 50 MPH, the speedometer showed 10-15 MPH and the tach dropped to idle. The transmission was decoupled from the motor. When gas was reapplied it seemed to make the connection again and resume normal driving. I called the dealership whose techs did not believe me and told me that I could 'turn off' the engine breaking feature. The situation continued to worsen each drive and it would do it more often. This was unacceptable and they finally had a tech ride with me to experience it and immediately agreed there was an issue and reordered another transmission. The third transmission did not fix the issue and was experienced immediately. They are now guessing how to fix the issue telling me I have to replace the transfer case out of my pocket with no diagnosis, not sure what is causing it and have not fixed the problem. Videos would not fit in upload due to size. Videos show speedometer failure. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact's husband owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that metal shaving were discovered in the radiator due to a defective torque converter. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and the contact was informed that there were no recalls on the VIN. The contact was referred to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 143,057.

While driving on an Interstate the vehicle violently shook and drive shaft ce off.
I’ve had to have the transmission replaced before hitting 123k miles There is a constant shake, tremble in the car that dealer mechanics cannot figure out and they relate the issue to the transmission Electrical dashboard and ac lightning fixture burnt out
Vehicle went into limp mode on I 65 in Indiana. Chevy dealer replaced tvb/ thermal bypass valve with newer version that opens at a lower temperature.Hard to get vehicle to the side of the highway. State Police arranged a tow truck to remove vehicle from highway.
Driving on the fwy going 73mph While running Transmission stopped working and I’m not able to accelerate to move forward and safely pull over to the shoulder. The problem was not been confirmed by the dealer or service center. The vehicle was not been inspected by anyone. There is no warning lamps Messages, or symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.
The automatic transmission in my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 4.3L V6 has experienced repeated failures and overheating events starting shortly after a scheduled dealer transmission flush at approximately 50,000 miles. Since then, the transmission has slipped under load, failed to shift properly, and routinely overheated—reaching over 270°F—without triggering a dashboard warning or entering limp mode. Multiple dealer visits confirmed internal transmission damage, including discolored fluid, metal shavings, and torque converter clutch failure. The entire transmission and torque converter were replaced under warranty, along with a redesigned bypass valve. Despite these efforts, the transmission failed again, showing further signs of overheating and debris in the fluid. The vehicle has been inspected and serviced multiple times by the dealership (Karl Chevrolet in Iowa) and GM warranty contractors. The issue persists even after complete transmission replacement. This condition poses a safety risk as loss of power and unexpected gear disengagement occurred during normal road use, including highway driving and towing. Transmission temperatures spiking well beyond GM’s Dexron VI fluid thermal limits raise further concerns about systemic cooling design flaws. Warning signs included high transmission fluid temperatures (over 270°F), RPM surging, harsh downshifts, slipping, poor throttle response, and delayed engagement from park to drive. The manufacturer has been notified, and the issue has been documented with the Attorney General of Iowa. A GM case number was also opened, but no permanent fix has been offered.
TRANSMISSION STARTED SHIFTING WEARD CONTACTED DEALERSHIP. THEY STATE THIS UNIT IS NOT UNDER RECALL BUT IT IS AN 6L80 AND IT IS ALL OVER YOU TUBE AND THE INTERNET ABOUT FAILURES THAT START WITH THE PM VALVE AND/OR THE TORQUE CONVERTER HOUSING THAT IS STAMPED BUT MOUNTING BRACKETS ARE WELDED TO IT CAUSING HARDED STEEL TO MEET STAMPED STEEL CAUSING FRICTION AND WEAR THAT POLUTES THE REMAINDER OF THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSES FAILURE BEFORE 100000 MILES; USUALLY JUST AFTER 50000ISH. WHEN TRANSMISSION FAILS IT CAN CAUSE LOSS OF PROPULSION OR COLLION.
Brakes sometimes require more pressure to stop or slow down. Transmission shutters and makes a clunking noise between shifting points. Kind of a sound bad u-joints make. Air Conditioning leaked all freon out in 2024 with 70k miles just 2mos. after service at a GM Dealership. Still not repaired.
My vehicle has had transmission and engine problems that should not have been an issue until after at least 100,000 miles. At 11,577 miles I reported hard down shifting as well as a hard shift / kick when going from reverse to drive when the transmission would feel like it would slip and then kick when shifting from 1st to 2nd gear on automatic transmission. There were no codes and dealership said they couldn't duplicate problem. At 58517 miles the service 4x4 warning light came on as well as a shifting problem was continuing. A transmission valve body was replaced and a transmission service / fluid replacement was done under warranty or extended warranty. The shifting problem has continued. It has come to my understanding that Chevrolet put out a bulletin about changing the transmission fluid should solve the problem and to tell customers that some hard shift could be normal and not a problem. And I have heard about some class action lawsuits that have been filed. A second and more major issue was the 5.3 liter engine failure that occured at 62,093 miles after having a tapping noise develop and some loss of power. But this issue began earlier at 40,125 miles when I had a fuel injection clean due to it running rough. Extended warranty replaced engine with a used motor and I was still charged $1158.93 for amounts extended warranty didn't cover. My Son's 2015 Silverado 1500 which I owned previously had to have the transmission rebuilt for just under $5,000 just out of extended or manufacturer's warranty. We don't pay $60,000-$70,000 to have engines and transmission fail before 100,000 miles and before the loans on vehicles are paid off. We shouldn't have to be paying a loan on a vehicle we can't even drive because it is in the shop for an extended period of time. At 62,298 miles after getting the truck back from the engine failure, the starter then failed and was replaced under extended warranty with $133.76 cost going to me.
The truck started shuttering one day it was like I was driving on the drunk bumps but I wasn't. Also it will drop gears when it shouldn't and at times it will kinda jump like it's losing power and don't want to go. I have taken it to my step dad who has been a transmission mechanic all his life and he said the transmission needs to be rebuilt but even rebuilding it won't solve the problem because it is a flaw in the way it was made so rebuilding it they use the same parts and everything so it will eventually do the same thing again it's all just a matter of when. He also had me go to another really good transmission guy and he said that we could replace the torch converter but still may need a rebuild l. I don't know if any that has to do with my passenger tire wear or my wheel bearing coming loose while driving only one bolt was holding it on when my husband checked it. The wheel bearing coming loose is pretty big safety problem. As for the transmission my step dad works at a transmission shop and he said they get probably 3 to 5 trucks a week having the same problem mine is having and I know they have been recalls on other trucks that have the same problem as mine just my one wasn't in the batch they recalled .

Sometimes when traveling higher speeds (55-70)and braking going downhill, a hard brake will come out of nowhere. Not enough lock up the brakes or anything but enough to scare the crap out of you!!! If it would happen to a elderly person or a less experienced driver, they could probably lose control or wrack. With the power train...sometimes when accelerating(from a stop or low speed)it seems as though it gets stuck in gear or skips a gear. You won't have any power then bam... almost cerps the back tires
Hard shift when transmission is shifting around 70 mph and also transmission temperature keeps rising above 230 degrees. Shuddering when shifting after city driving.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle intermittently shuddered. No warning lights was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

I purchased a used 2018 Chevrolet Silverado High Country (VIN: [XXX] ) on [XXX], with 24,375 miles. On the day of pickup, the truck felt like it was driving over rumble strips. Dimmitt Chevrolet flushed the transmission and used the updated Mobil 1 HP LV fluid. This worked temporarily, but the shudder returned. CarMax then sent the truck to Burke’s Transmission in Sarasota, where they replaced the torque converter. However, the shop declined to rebuild the transmission, citing its complexity. I later brought the truck to Cox Chevrolet in Bradenton. Despite clearly describing the shudder, harsh shifting, and driveline clunk, they told me the behavior was “normal” and refused to investigate further, stating, “We’ll look into it once the unit fails completely.” The symptoms have worsened. Harsh 1–2, 2–3, and 3–4 shifts are back. Shifting into Drive causes a loud clunk and forward lurch. Cold starts cause bucking and sudden stopping. I’ve replaced the tires, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks, and front suspension parts, but the problem persists. I signed on to a class action lawsuit against GM over the 8L90 transmission, but my claim was denied. This issue is well-documented and matches reports from many other owners. It affects drivability, safety, and long-term reliability. GM and its dealers have failed to properly address this known transmission defect. I urge NHTSA to investigate further. on or about [XXX] while driving through Olathe Kansas, the torque converter and subsequently the transmission on my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 failed while driving in heavy traffic. While navigating to a safe place outside the high-speed traffic corridor, the truck would run at approximately 3000 RPM at a speed of 40MPH. By sheer luck, we were not involved in a traffic accident. Replacement cost of the transmission unit was $7907.88 and $800 for a rental truck while the dealer replaced the transmission. transmission temprature excessively high, there is a TSB#21-NA-199 Document[XXX] on Thermo bypass vlave on 2018 trucks 6 speed transmissions. 200 degree transmission temp is too high. Service advisor originally said thats normal, after high temp issue a 5th time. I referenced the TSB #21-NA-199 to the dealership service advisor, Advisor said bring it in. Dealer replaced the original Thermo 198 degree transmission bypass valve with Gm's recommended 158 degree trans bypass vlave. Delaer proceeded to charged me $200 diagnostic fee and $167 for part and $258 for labor Total cost was $658 from Holz Morots Hales Corners Wisconsin. My truck was purchased in 2020 and I recieved the full 6 year warranty vehicle currently has 57,000 miles. Im within 60,000 drive train warranty. Dealer claims TSB is not part of the drive train warranty therefor not covered. How's that possible, a drive train is damaged by excessive heat and the thermo bypass valve of 198, creates excessive heat in the transmission destroying countless chevrolet transmissions. My position is: if the Thermo Bypass transmission vlave is not part of the drive train, then what is it doing in my transmission which moves the vehicle? I want to file a complaint, I want Chevrolet to stand behind the product they built and sold . Dodging responsibility on technicality is how Chevrolet will lose buyers. I'm very unhappy with the way I was treated with zero responsibility for the GM product. The dealership would not provide any type of discount .. too add insult to injury the dealer charged me a diagnostic fee after lengthy conversation on the problem which is absurd and offensive to any consumer. I paid and I said to myself, Chevrolet just lost a great customer because of a lousy policy claiming the thermo by pass valve is not part of the drive train ... Bleed the consumer for a repair on the failures created by the manufacturer. Its under warranty on top of it all.. Bad torque converter cause transmission to totally fail. Had chevy do transmission flush,2 yrs ago. Back in Aug 2024, transmission started to slip, while driving, then totally failed,no forward or reverse gears, nothing, had truck towed into chevy dealer, almost $7000.00 later, transmission had to be replaced.
Transmission failed at approximately 120,000 miles. All maintenance had been done and 90% of miles on vehicle were highway miles. Appears as though there's a thermostat mounted on the exterior of the transmission that is prone to failing around the 100,000 mile area, and when this part fails, there is no transmission fluid circulating to be cooled, so the transmission gets so hot it fails. There are tons of youtube videos from many GM owners that have had to spend thousands and thousands of dollars to replace the entire transmission, when General Motors knows of the faulty part.
Transmission locked up. Vehicle has low miles.
Had to replace rear end now transmission is starting to act up like might be going out (the truck started by like having a shake as you drive ot not for long period just every so often to when i gave ot rhe gas the really loud whinning noise let off gas it stopped )looked up to see if any others and many others with the same model as mine is having same trouble as I am and have not seen any recalls, but many people have been having same issues .
My transmission had a history of failing trans symptoms, all documented at the dealer from 10,000 miles until it ultimately failed at 127,000 miles. Those symptoms where a down-shift thud, confusion to what gear it should be in, shuddering, shaking and fluid temp running hot without towing a load. Was told by the dealer this was all normal, that the transmission was "still learning". Eventually the trans failed and was towed to the dealer. Dealer said that pieces of the torque converter were found in the fluid and building up in the filter, ultimately clogging it. I had all my recommended maintenance done at the dealer over the life of the truck. Once the trans failed I had an independent service center rebuild the trans, not wanting the same remanufactured trans that failed put back into my truck without any improvements made. No warning lights ever came on.
Transmission failed and truck shut down mid road while going uphill. Shifting jumps when gears are switched and power jumps and goes down while stepping on gas pedal. At first it showed a check engine light but because i was traveling i had to skip and tried turning on again. It happened at least 5 times while on the road that day and now shifting is messed up and jumps while stepping on gas. I inspected and took to a mechanic for an inspection and said need a new transmission unless there is a recall because it happens to many 2018 chevy silverados 1500.
We just purchased the truck from a Chevrolet dealership 6 days prior took it on a trip to Missouri. Truck transmission shuddered then downshifted nearly causing a rear end accident behind us. Luckily the driver was attentive and did not hit us
Transmission slipping and shuddering when fluid warms up. Dealership diagnosed torque converter/transmission failure. Stated it may cause transmission lockup while driving

Transmission jerks with hard shift and rough idle
Unknown
My truck has had transmission issues since we purchased it. At 79,000 miles the factory transmission finally went out and needed replaced. The truck currently has 81,000 miles on it and is already having transmission problems with the rebuilt parts. Background: the truck began having hard downshifts since purchase. Over the course of our ownership, we noticed it started struggling with shifting from 2nd gear to 3rd and 3rd gear to 4th. Constant "clunking" and shuttering when trying to shift. Approximately November of 2024 the truck suffered from the known GM transmission failures. It was almost "skipping" upon acceleration and had a very hard time with cycling between gears. The transmission began making a sound comparable to a normal operating diesel truck (almost sounded like the turbo engines upon acceleration). The truck was sent to the dealership and the transmission was replaced. However, since this replacement we are now experiencing similar symptoms to the previous transmission. There is a very hard downshift, there is clunking sound when the truck is trying to go from 3rd to 4th, and the truck has a noticeable gear burning smell when driven long distances.
Transmission Failure & Torque Converter Clutch Failure, Less than 90,000 miles on vehicle. This is a known issue with this year and model truck that GM is aware of. It has been inspected by the certified dealer and they are aware that this is a known issue. I don’t tow with my truck or do anything but drive it regularly. I was Quoted $8,900 with a $2,000 Core reimbursement.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the transmission failed to operate as designed and the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact stated that the vehicle returned to normal functionality afterwards. No warning lights were illuminated prior to the failure; however, the check engine warning light illuminated after the failure and remained illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with transmission failure. The failure persisted and the vehicle remained at the residence unrepaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Purchased this vehicle from a used car dealership 2 months ago. Now the transmission seems to be going out with 132,000 miles on it and funny noise from the transfer case. I have researched and found numerous complaints about the drive train on this vehicle and as a disabled veteran I don't have the funds to have it fixed. How can I get a recall in place for this issue?
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the contact stated that the vehicle felt like the transmission was slipping. The contact stated that the transmission was shifting abnormally. Additionally, while the vehicle was stopped and idling with the brake pedal depressed, the RPM was fluctuating, and the vehicle was moving unintendedly. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate the vehicle was jerking. The contact stated that the check engine and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The dealer replaced the serpentine belt however, the failure persisted and became more persistent over time. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who retrieved a DTC code for engine failure. The mechanic referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 92,000.

Transmission vibrates when it approaches 35 mph and 65 mph. The vibration feels like rumble strips and last for 3 seconds
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended. The contact stated that the vehicle was shaking and jerking. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 40 MPH. In addition, the contact stated while driving uphill, the failure reoccurred. The contact was almost involved in a crash because the vehicle had failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the vehicle rolled backward. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted the vehicle and the contact was able to get to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with engine and transmission failure. The contact was informed that the engine and the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure had been occurring for over five years. The contact stated that the vehicle had been taken to the dealer several times due to the failure. The contact was informed several times that the failure could not be duplicated. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 27,000.

The transmission has been slipping since the truck was brand new (<100 miles) and has always slipped but recently became worse and slips all of the time. This is a known issue with this transmission and should be included in the recall. The transmission slipped going around a curve and almost lost control of the vehicle.
Transmission issue!! Jerks on downshift as well rpm ramp up after shift of gear in 2nd to 1st gears
Doing 65mph on interstate on cruise control, the transmission went into 'false neutral' and engine revs went sky high. Truck slowed quickly, almost got rear ended. After that, the transmission did engage and I barely made it home. Very dangerous! Transmisison had to be rebuilt. Only 126,000 miles on a 2018 truck.
Transmission jerking on downshift between 3/2 and 2/1 gears! I have seen GM has been aware of a recent transmissions issue with 2012-2018 plus 2019-2022 years
6l80 transmission out of no where started kicking in and out of gear while in busy traffic. The motor would rev up and then kick itself back into gear multiple times. This wasn’t stop and go traffic also moments later i was at a light turning left as i did the vehicle start this losing power to the transmission except this time i was in the oncoming traffic’s lane trying to turn. Thankfully the other vehicles stopped although it could have ended much worse.
2 separate lifter failure incidents at 61,000 miles. One failure, happened on a busy interstate, while flowing with the speed of traffic. Truck started to misfire, jerk and blow smoke. I had trouble getting to shoulder of highway to get out of the speed of traffic. The issue was a collapsed AFM lifter # 6. All the lifters were replaced on the passenger side on my dime. 450 miles later, I had to limp again to the repair shop that performed the previous repair to find AFM lifter # 4 failed this time. GM has been knowing about these lifter issues for many of years and this is a safety concern while on busy highways.

Vehicle shuts off while driving in traffic at low and high speeds stabilitrak service light comes on and the vehicle dash goes dark Radio and temp control panel go dark/ black
I've been in and out of dealers over the transmission shifting points and hard down shifts when almost stopped. And the a/c condenser has cracked on the side for no known reason at 75k miles except for the fact of bad manufacturing

2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2020 was under warranty (22,000 miles)….felt a little vibration in my steering wheel and suspected a transmission problem and called the dealer’s service department. I told them what I felt and they said…yes you have a transmission problem (that Chevrolet knows about) bring it in and we will fix it. The fix was…change transmission fluid to synthetic. Now I was not comfortable with the repair but what can I do. I also know changing to the synthetic fluid can handle higher temperatures and will not breakdown as quickly. So my point is Chevrolet knows and knew about the problem and did not even think about a recall due to the expense it would cost them. Chevrolet expects me to absorb the cost of a manufacture problem. Last year was the start of my families transmission problems. It started May of 2023 with my 2014 Silverado’s transmission (175,000 miles) and ended up getting it overhauled. The truck was not abused. November my 1st grandson’s 2018 Silverado’s transmission failed, December 2nd grandson’s 2015 Serria’s transmission failed. I also recently (3 days ago) found out my friend’s 2018 Silverado went failed last year. All within a 6 month’s period. Now I have lost my 2018 Silverado transmission (mentioned above) with 88,000 miles. This is just my family…I really can’t imagine what is going on country wide. All of the above events has prompted me to look into this problem. Every transmission shop and dealer is telling me Chevrolet knows and knew about the problem…I can go on. I am very concerned and will not stop at getting resolve with GM/Chevrolet taking ownership of the transmission problem. Sure I want help...but I also want to help others with the same problem.
P1. On or about Feb 9, Power Train transmission, Modular’s. While traveling about 40mph the truck shifted suddenly to low gear, and the water pump blew resulting in steam or smoke from engine hood. Automatic shifting was not possible, after slowing to 5-10 mph check if mauls shifting was an option. All gears L1 L2…were replaced with ‘L’. P2 March 2023 to presented 2024, the vehicle will vibrate and shake. More like a shimming. This happens what seems to be every .5 to 1.0 mile. P3 March 2023 The Transmission issue listed in para 1 happen exactly as describe above. Except the water pump was fine. On or about June 2021 The Transmission issue listed in para 3 happen exactly as describe above. I TOOK TRUCK TO HENDERSON CHEVROLET in Henderson , NV and reported the transmission sudden shift to low AND how the truck slams into gear when leaving a stop sign light. It feels like someone hit the back of the truck. Jerks forward. Service RESULT: that’s normal for the truck. October 2019, took truck to back to Circle Chevy / Hyundai in Shrewsbury NJ regarding the slamming and jerky transmission. RESULT: it’s normal or it didn’t do it while in service road test. I just bought the truck 1 month earlier from CIRCLE CHEVY of SHREWSBURY NJ. Regarding the most recent trans issue of Feb 2024, the power train went out of warranty in August. The issues should have been fixed when odometer was between 000064 to 60000 or Aug 2024. This truck is unsafe and sudden shift to low gear can cause the truck to get into accident
Vehicle wouldn't accelerate while in moving traffic. Rpm gauge would move but speed gauge would not and vehicle would not accelerate past 30-35. When I pulled over and put my vehicle in park then attempted to put in drive, it would not move. Transmission light turned on. Had it towed to a mechanic who after diagnostics, states it's definitely the transmission/torque converter.
unknow getting gas in oil at 62532 miles on it which can cause the motor to grenade. a lot of the 5.3l on 2018 has this trouble from watching utube and using research, should be recalled and transmissions trouble as well.
I purchased this vehicle from Galles Chevrolet in Albuquerque New Mexico as a certified pre owned vehicle. Couple of days after I noticed a vibration coming from the front steering and drivetrain I immediately took it back to Galles and they told me nothing was wrong with it and that the aggressive tires was what I was feeling. So I took it back and drove it for a couple of weeks and the vibration started getting worse so took it back again they rotated and balanced the tires and said it was fine. A few weeks passed and it started again took it back and told me tires were out of round and that was what I was feeling 21/2 months it sat in the back lot until they figured out who was gonna replace the tires. Finally got the truck back and it was ok until the new tires started cupping again and the vibration was back in total I took it in about 8 times in past 18 months for the same issue and to this day has not been resolved. According to GALLES CHEVROLET the technician stated that that was normal for a 2500 4 wheel drive truck with aggressive tires drives and assured me that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle. Now look at the video and tell me if that’s normal for this truck For some reason it’s not letting me load a video of me moving the wheel up and down side to side where it moves about 3” with the steering wheel locked wheel is very very loose
Torque converter failed resulting in failure of transmission. Requiring complete replacement of transmission at the cost of $7100 from dealership.
The GM 6L80 transmissions have a faulty torque converter. When it goes out it causes a horrible vibration and drive train failure. Which leaves you stranded in traffic or on the side of a busy highway. These transmissions have been installed by GM since 2013 knowing they fail prematurely as early as 60k miles. It’s a running joke that this transmission saved repair shops because of the sheer amount of failures. With the cost passed on to consumers. There are several in detail breakdowns of the defect in this part on various social media platforms and Internet forums. You can call any transmission shop across the nation they can confirm the defect. There where no warning lights prior to, during, or after the failure.
The truck excellerate when I stop at stop sign or red light, with my foot on brake pedal acts like it is going to take off without my foot on gas
The transmission caused a vibration and sometimes a surge when it would go into gear. I had to be very careful when initially driving forward, especially in heavy traffic making sure I had a safe distance ahead of me. The entire vehicle would shutter when accelerating almost at any speed.
HAVE 2018 Z71 SILVERADO TRUCK AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES I NOTICE VIBATION WHEN SPEED WAS AROUND 65MPH EVEN THE PASSAGE SEAT WAS VIBRATING AND SOMETIME THE HARD SHIFT LIKE YOU WAS HIT FROM BEHIND WHEN SHIFT WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF ANYONE IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND THERE WAS SOMETHING ABOUT THE CHEVY SHAKE
I have a 2018 Chevy Silverado that has issues with the transmission slipping into different gears as well as hard violent jerking even on the freeway ,and I heard hard rumbling in my transmission burnt out with only 76,000 miles, it's like they're designed to go out.
Transmission shifts very hard in lower gears and is very sluggish at times.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while her son was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission was stuck in first gear. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Back in December of 2018 when I got my truck it only had a1000 miles on it and it has been down shifting hard it jerks hard I have reported it to the mechanic at the dealership at Mitch smith in Cullman Alabama and that said oh it’s supposed to do that well now it’s out of warranty and they said it needs this that and the other
My vehicle has been properly maintained since new. At around 90,000 miles the transmission started making noise. I had trans filter changed and the noise abated. at 92,000 the car started shifting oddly. Several times on the highway the engine would rev and the car loses speed. Loud noises from the transmission and hard shifts. I most recently was unable to accelerate while getting on the highway. This is a truck, I have things I have to transport. I am unsure if I should continue to drive on the highway. I am going to my local dealer next week to explore repair options. I have learned that this problem is well-known to GM .
While on the Interstate with cruise control on, my truck started to vibrate while on highway, then shakes so badly it becomes difficult to grip steering wheel firmly. Slowly came to a stop and checked all four wheels. Waited on side of road until engine cooled down somewhat and then got off highway at next exit and made my way back home on side streets NOT DRIVING OVER 40-45 MPH. Vehicle is currently at dealer Service Department. Said it is normal, but transmission would be checked.
My 10 speed transmission is failing, problem is a shutter in the transmission at various speeds. Have the shutter verified as not wheel balance problem, as all wheels were spin balanced. Upon looking up info online they said it could be dangerious and cause an accident.... My 2018 Silverado with the 6.0 engine and 10 speed transmision has only 42,000 thousand miles on it...
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 64 MPH with the cruise control engaged, the transmission became inoperable. While going up a hill, the vehicle was shifting hard in first and second gear. Upon accelerating, there was an abnormal winding noise detected. The vehicle was shifting roughly. The transmission got up to 160 degrees and continued to shift hard. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that a transmission replacement was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed him that the vehicle was above the warranty mileage. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
Mileage: 96,000
Torque converter was broken and destroyed my transmission just at 90,000 miles. I could easily have been stranded in major city traffic at any point if this had failed any earlier. This problem has been known in various GMC vehicles throughout the years. I have had a mechanic inspect and diagnose this problem. No warnings or symptoms were seen prior to the full failure of my transmission.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH and approaching a stop light while slowing, the vehicle lost motive power without warning. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer stated no failure was found. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the mechanic stated that no failure was found. The manufacturer was contacted, and the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the failure. The failure mileage was 69,000.

Transmission doesn’t shift smoothly and often slams into second gear from first very hard. Downshifting on rare occasions shifts to a lower gear before necessary causing rpms to go from 2800-3000 up to 4500-5000. I have to touch the gas real quick to upshift. Also brakes seem to require extra strength to engage if hard braking is required. Like the booster is not reacting properly.
The truck has has multiple issues.RR taillight always blows fuse, which I think sometimes stops my back sliding glass,I have no power to it,this has been an issue since day one, always have to carry fuses, then not long after having the truck,it has stabili trak issues,it stalls when first put into drive.delayed take off sometimes the truck jumps forward and revs the rpm’s up to 1000 X rpm sitting then it jumps to a fast hard takeoff.the truck does something called chuggel and buck I believe,it bogs way down, and then again it’ll slip buck it kicks jerks and also harshly engages.I love Chevy and haven’t given up hope just yet.this is my first Chevy.
Motor vehicle accident 4/21/22. Vehicle stalled hit by 18 wheeler. Several times on several occasions after that on several days vehicle stalled in interstates with multiple 18 wheelers, trucks cars almost hitting me/my vehicle each time it stalled. Now and since May 2022, the transmission completely failed and is inoperable at this time. The stalling in the middle of interstate traffic where the speed limit on 4/21/22 is 55mph & on the interstate 65mph(The vehicle coasted slowly to the side of the road & stopped changing gears to go in either direction)
While I'm very slowly backing up my attached small 2 wheel trailer the Transmission over heating warning light comes on. This has happened SEVERAL TIMES!!!!
Transmission issues with 78500 miles, one owner, no hauling other than a boat. headed to shop... multiple complaints on 2018 transmissions why no recall
Under light to medium load on the throttle, the transmission will shift very hard from 1st to 2nd gear and sometimes 2nd to 1st while decelerating. Another issue is that the transmission or torque converter will shutter, but that is not as often. It does not happen every time, but happens way more often than it should for it being a 2018 with 26k miles. The GM Authority website has this as a known problem, but my VIN is not associated to it for some reason. Apparently flushing the transmission with Mobil 1 Synchromesh fluid can solve the issue. The truck seems to hesitate while taking off something and I think it is related to this transmission issue which can be a huge safety risk.
April 2022 & 5 2022 Complete transmission failure in traffic ALMOST causing death in traffic, emissions failure, leather seat defect REPEATED left fog light failure
On Saturday Aug 6th, 2022 my girlfriend and I were driving in my 2018 Chevy Silverado and the car just came to a complete stop really hard. Once the truck froze up, the car would go FOWARD but very slow, jerkish, and sluggish. We were almost hit by three cars behind us when the truck froze up. The truck was towed to the dealership where they diagnosed the truck with METAL SHAVINGS in the TRANSMISSION. And the engine light came on four weeks after I bought the vehicle last October. This time…. There was NO engine light on. Nothing displayed on dashboard.
The transmission failed at 81k miles. Upon doing some research, it sounds like this is caused by the wrong transmission fluid that was installed by GM, not myself, the owner. If known about early enough, flushing the transmission 3 times and replacing with the newest transmission fluid is to correct the problem. I was not notified of this 'fix' and the transmission is already damaged to the point where it must be replaced.
leaf springs malfunctioned & yes its available for inspection. safety issues of cracking noise sounds like cracking in the suspension or axle. on 7/7/22 Lorenzo at Richland Chevrolet in Shafter, California confirmed & had it all day for inspection. no warning lamps or messages were provided. First appeared on 6/30/22. continental crosscontact LX20 P275/55 R20 111 t eco plus+ Tires are chopping & shredding safety & hazard issues are the tires can shred apart & cause an accident or death. on 7/7/22 Lorenzo at Richland Chevrolet in Shafter, California confirmed tires were having that problem & if there was a recall on them then General Motors would reach out to us. Then prior, on 4/28/22 during oil change & tire rotation service Lorenzo confirmed tires were chopping also. no warning lamps or messages.
Truck was brought in for routine maintenance they noticed At the dealership a radiator leak. I was told this is not covered under warranty And I have no lights on
The transmission failed. The truck had heavy shifting and the transmission needs replacement. The truck was no longer safe to drive. The problem was diagnosed by a licensed mechanic shop. The check engine light came on as well as the service stabilitrak light that came on the same day as failure.
For months this truck as stuttered while driving. Eventually one day the RPMs would shoot to 3500 when trying to shift gears and would struggle to shift. After having the spark plugs replaced and a tune up ($660 later) it started randomly just losing power to the engine while driving. All electrical still on but no power to the engine. I would pull over and turn the engine off and restart and it would be fine again. This continues to happen with no explanation. Always acts fine after I stop the care and turn it back on again. Nothing comes up on a scan for issues. Mechanic can't figure it out and now it isn't "acting up" when the transmission guy drives it and he doesn't know what's going on either. It's not safe to drive on the HW if its going to just randomly lose power. We checked with another transmission shop and he said they have two chevy Silverados in line for something similar. That made me look to see if there was a recall and led me to make this report. Chevy should look into this and do a recall.
Transmission shifts out of gear spontaneously while driving and warning light comes on for “transmission hot idle engine” forcing the vehicle to become inoperable unexpectedly without allowing the vehicle to drive forward or reverse to get to a safe location. Transmission temperature gauge rises quickly to 280 degrees in less than an hour of normal driving before overheating. Multiple General Motors dealers and General Motors headquarters have been unable to diagnose the problem and provide a solution despite multiple attempts and several thousand dollars in repairs including a completely new replacement transmission. General Motors first recommended the dealer to hook battery cables up to the transmission which did not fix the problem and in fact caused the vehicle to not start several times. General Motors then recommended the dealer replace the transmission entirely. Despite replacing the transmission, the same problem exists and the vehicle shifts out of gear while driving reporting an overheating transmission. Problem still occurs today 3/25/22 and vehicle becomes inoperable unexpectedly and suddenly while driving due to overheating transmission. General Motors is unable to diagnose the problem or provide a solution.
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the braking system malfunctioned causing the braking distance to be extended. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.
Mileage: 96,000
While driving my transmission will shudder and the vehicle will lose power causing the vehicle to slow down abruptly. It also will shift very hard making a loud noise.
The transmission started shifting improperly at 40k and the fluid gets to hot
Transmission noise -something loose only 60k miles
When entering traffic, upon acceleration the truck stalls, and shutters. Going into traffic a vehicle had to maneuver to avoid collision with me. I took it to the dealer and they said transmission should get a flush and transmission oil was low. At 60,000 and out of warranty I paid for service and they said it was good now. it still continues. I can’t afford to take it in for service and pay again. From searching online customers state the dealer representatives all say it’s normal for truck to do that. Also, others say transmission (6l80) and/or torque converter is the problem. Again being without warranty I cannot afford to take it in and pay to just get that “it’s normal for the vehicle to do that.” A vehicle that stalls IS a hazard for the driver and for others on the road. Especially entering highways and heavy traffic streets. The main reason is we never know when it will stall or when it will accelerate what I believe is properly.
The torque converter failed internally allowing the torque converter clutch to shudder. The fluid exchange has already been done on RO#587959. Vehicle had 40k when torque converter was replaced. Issue arouse after a road trip to Houston Tx and progressive more at various speeds. James Wood dealership replaced the torque converter since it was still under power train warranty. When I researched online, I realized that this is a common problem within the 2014-2018 Silverado models. I hope I that after the dealership replaced this defected part I don't experience additional mechanical issue related to this faulty part.
The transmission stopped working randomly on the highway after being driven for 45 minutes perfectly fine. Thankfully this happened near a stoplight so the traffic on the highway was going slower than normal otherwise it could have been very bad. Local mechanic confirmed that the transmission was no good and has ordered a replacement. There was no indication of the issue prior to the failure. No lights came on to indicate that there was an issue.
While driving this truck i get a severe shudder at various speeds and now its not shifting gears correctly. I have been told there is a big problem with these 6 speed transmissions ans torque convertors.
The engine gave out at 60k miles. Only covered buy the extended warranty I bought. the transmission thunks on downshifts. The exhaust adaptive valve started making a terrible noise at 40k miles. I took it to the dealership for them to tell me my extended warranty doesn't cover it and to buy an aftermarket exhaust because it would be too expensive to replace it. I think they quoted me at $1200
I was on highway 65 coming out of Rocklin Ca going back to Yuba City Ca. The Chvey Silverado with out any warning it just lost power and I had to pull over. I am glad I was on the slow lane. If I was on fast lane with a big rig behind me. It would have been bad. After pulling over the Eng Light when on for the first time since I have owned the truck. Not any time before. I thought if a family with children was in the fast lane and this happened it would not be a good out come. I had it towed to my home the chevy dealer was close. On July 18 I had it towed to the dealer I had the truck towed to Wheeler Chevrolet In Yuba City They replace the engine computer and the tranny computer . And to day Aug 1 , 2021 they said they would fix the tranny. I am wondering if they know what they are doing ? This is very disturbing I am very apprehensive about the safety of the truck if this were to happen again !!
The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, the traction control and the transmission overheating warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road for 30 minutes for the transmission to cool down. The contact stated while driving to his residence, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,158.

Radiator started leaking at 40,000 miles. Leaking at a weld where tube connect to side tanks.
The transmission clunks and slips a lot.
Radiator developed a leak as described in General Motor's Service Bulletin PI1513F dated January, 2019. Safety was put at risk due to having a vehicle which could have a sudden radiator failure and permanently damage the vehicle. The Dealership I had my radiator replaced at would not state if they have had this issue occur often. No warning lamps or messages prior to the radiator losing 1.5 gallons of coolant. My first symptom was the engine overheating.
While driving or idling Transmission temp was around and staying at 240.
While driving highway speed on cruise control the RPM levels start jumping up and down and it feels like your driving over the rumble strips. It only last for a second or two at a time, but it does do it a good amount of times while driving.
HARD DOWNSHIFT FROM 2ND TO 1ST
WHEN COMING TO A FULL STOP, THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFT REALLY HARD. IT MAKES THE VEHICLE JERK FORWARD. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING UP HILL/DOWNHILL OR ON A FLAT ROAD. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AT 4K MILES FOR THIS REASON AND WAS TOLD IT WAS A KNOWN CHEVY ISSUE BUT THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF FIXING IT.I TOOK IT BACK A SECOND TIME AT 5K AND WAS TOLD THE JERKINESS AND POOP THE TRANSMISSION DOES IS A GM DEFECT DESIGN BUT THAT THEY HAD NO WAY OF FIXING. DEALER SAID OTHER OWNERS HAVE INSTALLED A 3RD PARTY SINGLE PIECE DRIVE SHAFT WITH ANGLE SPACERS BUT THAT WAS NOT COVERED BY GM WARRANTY. DEALER ESSENTIALLY WANTED ME TO FIX THE HARSH SHIFTING AND CLUNKINESS BY GOING WITH AN AFTER MARKET PARTS PROVIDER. A WORK AROUND THAT HAS SEEM TO MAKE THE ISSUE MORE BEARABLE IS PUTTING THE TRUCK IN 'TOW MODE' IT SMOOTHS THE RIDE OUT BUT IT TENDS TO MAKE THE TRANSMISSION RUN ABOUT 20'40 DEGREES HOTTER

TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND FAILED. ACTED LIKE IT BOUND UP. THIS HAPPENED DURING A NORMAL SHIFT SEQUENCE, ACTED TIGHT THEN ENGINE JUST KEPT OVER REVVING. HAPPENED ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO. DEALER FIXED FOR FREE. SAID IT WAS COMMON. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AT 60K MILES. SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY IT AS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. SUGGESTED I BUY ANOTHER NEW TRUCK. NEXT PROBLEM IS MY RIGHT FRONT CALIPER HAS FAILED TWICE AND NEEDED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. IT IS NOW FAILING FOR THE THIRD TIME. THIS IS SERIOUSLY UNSAFE AND CRAZY. I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 73K MILES ON THIS TRUCK. THIRD THING IS MY CHROME TRIM ON MY DOOR HANDLES HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THIS IS NORMAL AND IT IS NOT FIXABLE UNLESS I PAY THEM. IT IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE TRUCK IS BABIED AND KEPT IN PERFECT CONDITION.

ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE ON HILLS, BUT PRESENT ON FLAT AND DOWNHILL ROADS AT SURFACE STREETS AS WELL AS FREEWAYS AND HIGHWAYS. PROBLEM FIRST BROUGHT TO CHEVROLET'S SERVICE DEPT AT 7000 MILES AND TOLD IT'S NORMAL. AGAIN BROUGHT TO SERVICE DEPT ATTENTION AT APPROXIMATELY 12000 MILES AND AGAIN TOLD IT'S NORMAL. PROBLEM CONTINUED TO WORSEN SEVERELY AND AGAIN BROUGHT TO SERVICE DEPT ATTENTION AT APPROXIMATELY 15000 MILES. PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS FAILING TORQUE CONVERTER. THIS WAS REPLACED. PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION CONTINUES AFTER REPLACEMENT AND AT 16197 MILES IT IS NOW BACK AT THE SERVICE DEPT.TRANSMISSION IS THE 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC.

MY VEHICLE IS HAVING HARD DOWNSHIFTING ISSUES. MAINLY FROM 2 TO 1 AND OCCASIONALLY FROM 3 TO 2. I NOTICE THERE ISNT A RECALL LISTED BUT IT DEFINITELY SEEMS LIKE A SERIOUS ISSUE. THAT COULD POSSIBLE CAUSE DAMAGE LATER ON. I'VE READ ONLINE THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A PRETTY COMMON ISSUE WITH THE SILVERADO 2014-2019. I WOULD LIKE AND EXPLANATION AND FIX PLEASE. CHEVROLET HAS CHECKED AND SAID IT DOESN'T READ AS AN ISSUE ON COMPUTER READING. THANKS

ON 8/17/2020 I STARTED GETTING A SEVERE SHAKING IN THE FRONT END OF MY 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CREW CAB 4X4 LTZ. THINKING THAT I THREW JUST A WHEEL WEIGHT I TOOK IT TO MY PRIORITY CHEVROLET IN CHESAPEAKE VIRGINIA AND FOUND OUT IT HAS A SHUTTER SHAKE AS THE DEALERSHIP CALLED IT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ON THIS I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAW SUITE AGAINST GM ON THIS MATTER AND IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING FROM YEARS 2014 THRU 2019. I WOULD THINK AFTER ALL THIS INFORMATION ON THIS A RECALL WOULD BE PUT OUT ON THIS.I DO NOT HAVE ANY DOCUMENTATION AT THIS TIME DUE TO IT STILL BEING AT DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR.THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 64 EAST BOUND AT A SPEED OF 55 UP TO 65 WHEN PROBLEM OCCURRED.

WHILE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE TOWING EMPTY 12' TRAILER, THE ENGINE STOPPED AND RECEIVED STABILITRACK MESSAGE AND TRANSMISSION TOO HOT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER LETTING ENGINE COOL DOWN. HAD THE TRAMISSION FLUID CHANGED TWO DAYS LATER. DEALER JUST STATED THEIR WAS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION WITH THE ENGINE. ONE WEEK LATER RECEIVED TRANSMISSION HOT, IDLE ENGINE MESSAGE ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE HAULING THE SAME TRAILER WITH ONLY A RIDING LAWNMOWER. PULLED OVER FOR 30 MINUTES AND DROVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME AT A REDUCED SPEED. HIGHWAY SPEED WAS 70 MPH UNTIL IT OVERHEATED, THEN DROVE 50-55 MPH TO GET TO MY DESTINATION TRYING NOT TO LET TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE OVER 220.

THE PLASTIC RADIATOR HAS CRACKED AND IS LEAKING COOLANT HEAVILY. TRUCK STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY BY GM IS ONLY OFFERING TO COVER 20% OF THE $1,823 REPAIR COST. I NOTICED IT WHEN STOPPED TO GET GAS, THE VEHICLE LEAKING APPROXIMATELY 1.5 GALLONS OF COOLANT WHILE STOPPED FOR APPROXIMATELY 3 MINUTES. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT AND NEEDED TO ADD COOLANT JUST TO DRIVE TO SHOP. *TR

WHEN I OPENED DOORS THE FUEL PUMP TURNS ON, WHILE I'M DRIVING IT SHIFTS AND RUNS FUNNY AND YOU HEAR POPPING NOISES. THE GAUGES MESS UP AND RADIO TURNS ON AND OFF. LIKE ITS BEING HACKED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35-50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED, SHUDDERED AND LOSS MOTIVE POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. A WARNING MESSAGE INDICATED TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO COOL OFF; STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED STEVES CHEVROLET OF CHOWCHILLA LOCATED AT 1 AUTO PARK DR, CHOWCHILLA, CA 93610, AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,800.

TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD FROM FIRST TO SECOND/SECOND BACK TO FIRST. I NOTICED THIS ABOUT A WEEK AFTER PURCHASING TRUCK. SHIFTS HARD MOSTLY IN 2WD, NOT SO MUCH IN 4WD OR HAULING/TOWING. LEAF SPRINGS AND SHACKLES HAVE SQUEAKED SINCE DAY ONE OF PURCHASE. ENGINE OIL PRESSURE IS AT 12-15PSI AT IDLE AND WILL NOT EXCEED 32-35 PSI UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS WITH OR WITHOUT A LOAD. I'VE CHANGED THE OIL FILTER AND OIL PRESSURE SENSOR MULTIPLE TIMES. THERE ALSO SEEMS TO BE A CHIRP/TICK COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I'VE BEEN TRYING TO NARROW IT DOWN FOR THE LAST FEW WEEKS. SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING GOING ON IN THE ENGINE ITSELF OR POSSIBLE THE AC COMPRESSOR. TRUCK HAS 42,450 MILES
Mileage: 42,500
SERVICE STABILATRACT COMES ON BEFORE I START THE TRUCK STILL SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT'S WRONG. AND SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK THE TRANNY REALLY BANGS AND CLUNKS A LOT IT'S ANNOYING WHEN TRYING TO DRIVE IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC IT GEAR CHASES WAY TO MUCH. IT CAN'T BE GOOD FOR THE TRANNY LIFE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD OVERHEAT. THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS NOT WORKING AND THE FANS WERE RUNNING. THE VEHICLE HAD A LOAD JERK AND THE TRANSMISSION KEEP REEVING HIGH EVEN AFTER HE HAD TAKEN HIS FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. STARLING CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (1001 E IRLO BRONSON MEMORIAL HWY, ST CLOUD, FL 34769 (407) 593-8957) WHERE THE AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED BUT THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTED. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE TRANSMISSION. AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE FOR ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

TRANSMISSION SLIPS, TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTS HARD, TRANSMISSION WILL HAVE A LOUD THUD WHEN REENGAGING AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF GAS PEDAL IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, ESPECIALLY ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THUD CAN BE FELT IN THE CAB OF THE TRUCK. ELECTRONIC 4 WHEEL DRIVE GRINDS WHEN ENGAGED IN MOTION. 4 WHEEL DRIVE GRINDS WHEN TURNING EVEN THE SLIGHTEST BIT. UPON FIRST STARTING VEHICLE TRANSMISSION HESITATES UNTIL TEMP REACHES 125 DEGREES AT LEAST.

I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW IN NOVEMBER OF 2018. IT HAD 4 MILES ON IT. MY PREVIOUS TRUCK I OWNED FOR 10 YEARS. A 2000 GMC SIERRA, WHICH I MAINTAINED METICULOUSLY. I SOLD IT 452K MILES ON THE ORIGINAL ENGINE. SINCE I PURCHASE THE TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED HARD ESPECIALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. I WON'T WRITE A REVIEW EXACTLY LIKE ALL THE OTHER TRANSMISSION REVIEWS, BUT THEY ARE SAME PROBLEMS I AM HAVING. GM NEEDS TO RECTIFY THIS ISSUE DUE TO THE NUMBER OF UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS WITH A SUB PAR PRODUCT. I COULD HAVE BOUGHT ANY TRUCK I WANTED, AND I UNFORTUNATELY BOUGHT A SILVERADO WITH A TRANSMISSION THAT DOESN'T FUNCTION THE WAY A NEWER ONE SHOULD. ASIDE FROM THE MECHANICAL ISSUES IT CAUSES, IT IS EXTREMELY EMBARRASSING WITH PASSENGERS IN THE TRUCK. IT NEVER FAILS, THEY ALL SAY THE SAME EXACT THING...'WHAT WAS THAT?'...... GM STAND BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT LIKE WE STOOD BEHIND OUR HARD EARNED MONEY WHEN WE PAID YOU.
SQUEAKING NOISE UNDER BOX. DEALER TOOK 2 MONTHS TO GET A REPLACEMENT LEAF SHACKLE FOR LEFT SIDE. IT DID STOP THE NOISE. MY TRANSMISSION HAS A HARD SHIFT IN GEARS WHEN TAKING OFF AND COMING TO A STOP. TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO HANG UP SHIFTING FROM LOW GEAR T A HIGHER GEAR AND DOES THE SAME WHEN COMING TO A STOP. SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE. NEW TRUCK, NOW HAS 21,000 MILES BUT WORST INVESTMENT I HAVE MADE SWITCHING FROM A FOREIGN TRUCK BACK TO MADE IN AMERICA. THIS HARD SHIFTING TAKES PLACE WHEN STARTING OFF OR COMING TO A STOP ON ANY HIGHWAY OR STREET.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAVERICK CHEVROLET (4801 E END BLVD S, MARSHALL, TX 75672, (903) 938-5111), BUT THE FAILURES COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. AT APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES I WAS PARKED IN A YARD AND BLOCKED IN SO I BACKED UP ON A SMALL HILL AND THE TRUCK JERKED BADLY FOR ABOUT 15 FEET I THOUGHT IT WAS THE POSITIVE TRACTION TRYING TO CATCH ON THE GRASS BUT FURTHER INTO DRIVING THE TRUCK I NOTICED IT HAPPENING MORE AND MORE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE AND IN SHIFTING INTO GEARS ARE AT TIMES HARD. THE LAST INCIDENT I WAS TAKING OFF FROM A RED LIGHT TODAY AND AROUND 40 MPH IT HAD A JERK/ HARD SHIFT, MY TRUCK IS A DAILY DRIVER AND I HAVE 44,000 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. I AM A HARDWORKING AMERICAN THAT PURCHASED THIS $40,000 TRUCK FOR DEPENDABILITY BECAUSE I DO A LOT OF DRIVING AND WOULD LOVE FOR SOME ONE TO PUT A STOP TO THIS NONSENSE THERE ARE ALREADY SO MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION JERKING AND SNATCHING AT RANDOM TIME CAN YOU ALL PLEASE MAKE GM RECALL THESE AND BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE JUNK TRANSMISSIONS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. AFTER THE CONTACT WENT BACK AND FORTH WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER (BILL CRAMER CHEVROLET BUICK GMC, 2251 W 23RD ST, PANAMA CITY, FL 32405, (850) 250-1403), THEY SETTLED ON TRADING THE CONTACT'S 2015 SILVERADO FOR A 2018 SILVERADO WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED THAT CHEVROLET WAS SERVED WITH A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WANTED THE CONTACT TO GO THROUGH THE SAME PROCESS FOR DIAGNOSING THE 2018 MODEL AS HE DID WITH THE 2015 MODEL. THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER AND HAVE A SENIOR ADVISOR FROM THE MANUFACTURER CALL HIM BACK. THE CONTACT WANTED TO KNOW IF HE SHOULD FILE UNDER THE LEMON LAW WITH HIS STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL'S OFFICE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 0.
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TRANSMISSION SURGES/PULSATES UNDER LIGHT ACCELERATION. WHEN ACCELERATING MOST OFTEN WHEN VEHICLE IS ALREADY IN MOTION THERE IS A EXTREME DELAY IN SHIFTING WHICH CAUSES A JERK AT LOWER SPEEDS OR AN DELAYED THEN HARD SHIFT AT SLIGHTLY HIGHER SPEEDS. MOST NOTICEABLE IN TRAFFIC.

TRANSMISSION CLUNKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN
Mileage: 15
BOUGHT THIS TRUCK BRAND NEW WITH 9 MILES ON IT. (PREVIOUSLY DROVE A RAM 1500). MY FIRST GM PRODUCT I'VE BOUGHT IN MY LIFE AND I'M DISGUSTED! I'M A VICTIM OF THE 'TRANSMISSION HARSH DOWNSHIFT SYNDROME'. SLOWING DOWN NORMALLY IS CLUNKY, NOTHING SMOOTH ABOUT THIS 'AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION' 6 SPEED BTW. WHEN SLOWING DOWN ABRUPTLY (IN STOP N GO TRAFFIC), TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR WHILE DOWNSHIFTING, FEELS LIKE I'M BEING REARENDED. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES, THEY SAY 'OPERATING AS DESIGNED'....YEA RIGHT. MY RAM NEVER DID THIS...TALKED TO CORPORATE ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS... 'THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO' IS WHAT THEY TELL ME. POOR DESIGN, HATE THE TRUCK, DISGUSTED WITH GM. I'M NOW MAKING DOUBLE PAYMENTS TO GET OUT FROM UNDER IT (BECAUSE I'M UPSIDE DOWN FROM BUYING BRAND NEW AND GM THINKS SO MUCH OF THEIR PRODUCT TO CHARGE AN ARM AND A LEG AND MY FIRST BORN) TO TRADE IT IN ON EITHER A FOREIGN CAR OR BACK TO RAM. GM DOESN'T CARE, RICH BILLIONAIRES CRAPPING ON THE MIDDLE CLASS, TOO MANY 'PENCIL PUSHERS' CREATING 'NEW DESIGNS' TO BE FUEL EFFICIENT AND IMPRESS THEIR BOSSES TO MAKE THEIR BONUS. NEWS FLASH....WE BUY TRUCKS NOT BE FUEL EFFICIENT, BUT TO BE MANLY AND HAUL THINGS AND GO OFF ROAD AND CARY A FEW PASSENGERS WHILE WE'RE AT IT!! SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE AND DONT BUY A GM PRODUCT.

THIS TRUCKS TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WHENEVER IT WANTS TO... I WAS DRIVING 45MPH AND COASTING TO A RED LIGHT WHEN IT DOWNSHIFTS HARD BUT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AGAIN AND I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR I HAD NO TORQUE, LIKE I WAS IN 5TH GEAR AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN 2ND. I PRESSED A BIT HARDER AND IT DOWNSHIFTED HARD AGAIN AND WAS AT 5K RPMS! I THOUGHT IT HAD AN 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION, BUT IT SURE DOESNT SEEM LIKE IT. MY TRUCK WAS NEW AND ONLY HAS 5K MILES ON IT. UNACCEPTABLE

THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OR SHUDDER, ALSO HAS FREE WHEELED WHEN GOING DOWN HILL AT SLOW SPEEDS, ALSO OCCURS IN REVERSE, USUALLY ABOUT 1 TO 2 CAR LENGTHS. HAVE RETURNED TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND BEEN TOLD THAT GM DOES NOT HAVE A REMEDY. HAD THE SERVICE RECOMMENDATION OF A TRANSMISSION FLUED FLUSH DONE TWICE WITH DIFFERENT FLUID INSTALLED WITH NO CHANGE. HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS SHOP FOR 3 WEEKS WITH GM LOOKING AT THE PROBLEM, NO SOLUTION IN SIGHT. NO CONFIDENCE THAT GM CAN FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS COULD DEVELOP INTO A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.

TAKATA RECALL. WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY I HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND COMING FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE OF MY TRUCK. IT STOPPED FOR A SECOND AND THEN DID IT AGAIN THE CLUNKING SOUND GOT PROGRESSIVELY LOUDER. I NOTICED THE SOUND AT LOW SPEEDS, HIGH SPEEDS, GOING OVER MINOR BUMPS AND BIG BUMPS IN THE ROAD. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE GOING OVER BIG BUMPS I COULD HEAR WHAT SOUNDED LIKE FLEXING AND/OR GRINDING METAL COMING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION. I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND PROCEEDED TO ROCK IT BACK AND FORTH AND NOTICED THE KNOCKING/GRINDING SOUNDS COMING FROM THE UNDER CARRIAGE AND THE SUSPENSION. I GOT BACK IN THE VEHICLE AND DROVE OFF AND THE SOUNDS AGAIN STARTED. I HAVE INFANT TWINS THAT I WAS DRIVING IN MY VEHICLE AT THIS TIME AND I BECAME VERY CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY AND MINE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP (SINCE IT IS BRAND NEW AND AT THE TIME ONLY HAD 2-3K MILES ON IT). THEY SAID "ITS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN CHEVROLET TRUCKS" THE PAPERWORK THEY GAVE ME AFTER THE "REPAIR" STATED" LUBRICATE REAR LEAF SPRINGS AND RE-TORQUE BOLTS" THIS INDICATES I HAD LOOSE SUSPENSION COMPONENTS. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AND I AGAIN TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY AGAIN STATED THE SAME REPAIR AND REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY OTHER REMEDY AND ALSO REFUSED TO REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS. THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED AGAIN. AGAIN I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN THEY REFUSED TO PROVIDE ANY OTHER FORM OF SERVICE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 8K MILES ON IT AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ON 4 SEPARATE INSTANCES FOR THE SAME SUSPENSION PROBLEM. THE CLUNKING AND LOOSE SUSPENSION NOISES HAVE RETURNED AND I WILL BE TAKING THE TRUCK IN FOR THE 5TH TIME. THIS IS UNSAFE, AND MY WIFE REFUSES TO DRIVE IN MY TRUCK NOR ALLOW ME TO DRIVE OUR CHILDREN IN OUR TRUCK BECAUSE SHES CONCERNED FOR THEIR SAFETY!

VEHICLE DEVELOPED A VIBRATION AT 80MPH WHICH FADES IN AND OUT. TIRES WERE ROAD FORCED BALANCED, AND ALIGNMENT WAS DONE. TRANSMISSION FLUID WAS CHANGED. THE SHACKING AT 80MPH CONTINUED. ON A 30 MILE COMMUTE AT 80MPH THE VIBRATION IS EXTREME 25% OF THE TIME (LIKE DRIVING OVER A RUMBLE STRIP), MODERATE ANOTHER 25% OF THE TIME, AND THE OTHER 50% THE VIBRATION IS NOT NOTICEABLE.

THE EIGHT SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION STUTTERS AND ACTS LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW WHAT GEAR TO GO INTO UNDER LIGHT TO NORMAL ACCELERATION. THIS OCCURS WHILE COLD AND DURING THE WARMING PERIOD, (NORMALLY UP TO AROUND 180 DEGREES), BUT TENDS TO RESOLVE AFTER THE ENGINE IS COMPLETELY WARMED UP. THIS TRANSMISSION PROBLEM IS CONTINUOUS AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME AFTER THE VEHICLE SITS ALL NIGHT OR IF IT HAS SIMPLY SIT FOR A FEW HOURS. IT IS VERY APPARENT, OTHER PASSENGERS ASK WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE WHEN THEY RIDE IN IT. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW, BUT WHEN I TOOK THE TEST DRIVE IT WAS ALREADY WARMED UP. THEREFORE I WAS UNAWARE OF THE ISSUES PRESENT. I WENT BACK TO THE SALESMAN TO DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THIS HAPPENS WITH ALL THE 2018 EIGHT SPEED SILVERADO'S HE HAS DRIVEN ON THEIR LOT. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THESE TRANSMISSIONS HAVE A LEARN CYCLE, SO I DECIDED TO GIVE IT SOME TIME TO SEE IF WAS A LEARNING CURVE WITH THE COMPUTER. IT NEVER CLEARED UP. I LATER BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE INITIAL SERVICE AND DESCRIBED WHAT HAD BEEN HAPPENING WITH IT TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. I LEFT THE VEHICLE OVERNIGHT SO THE TECHNICIAN COULD DRIVE FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND PERFORM AN SERVICES. THE NEXT DAY I WAS CALLED AND TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS READY. UPON ARRIVAL I WAS INFORMED THE TECHNICIAN WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEMS I DESCRIBED, BUT IT WAS NORMAL FOR THE EIGHT SPEED TRANSMISSION. HOWEVER, IT BECOMES WORSE TO BRING IT BACK IN FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSIS. I CALLED GM, THEY ALSO LOOKED INTO THE CASE FOR ABOUT A WEEK, THEN CALLED BACK AND STATED THAT IS NORMAL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW WITH ABOUT 2,500 MILES ON IT, (DEMO), AND HAVE HAD IT ONLY A FEW MONTHS. IT CURRENTLY HAS LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT.
Mileage: 2,550
SEVERAL TIMES, WHILE DRIVING RIGHT AROUND 55 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED FOR NO REASON ON THRUWAY CONDITIONS. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, IT WAS ALMOST LIKE SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES QUICKLY. ON ALL OCCASIONS, MY BODY LURCHED FORWARD. IF SOMEONE WAS BEHIND ME, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WITH MY SON IN THE TRUCK, WE STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND THE TRANSMISSION CLUNKED SO VIOLENTLY, THAT WE BOTH THOUGHT WE WERE REAR ENDED AT FIRST. I DESCRIBED THE ISSUE TO MY GM SERVICE SHOP WHO SAID THAT THEY COULDN'T FIND AN ISSUE AND THAT THE CODES WERE ALL NORMAL. I WAS ADVISED THAT THE CLUNK AT THE RED LIGHT WAS COMMON, AS THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO RELIEVE PRESSURE. NO WAY IS THIS NORMAL! I GOT ON LINE TO REVIEW FORUMS AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A VERY PREVALENT ISSUE. YESTERDAY, I LOST MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY ON A THRUWAY. I HEARD A LOUD CLUNK AND THE RPMS SPIKED. I LEFT THE HIGHWAY ASAP BUT COULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH OR THE RPMS WOULD JUST SPIKE WITHOUT MOTION RESPONSE. EXITING THE THRUWAY AT THIS SPEED WAS VERY DANGEROUS! EVEN WITH HAZARDS ON, DRIVERS SELDOM SLOW DOWN OR MOVE OVER, ESPECIALLY 18 WHEELERS. THESE TRANSMISSIONS ARE CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD.

CONSTANT VIBRATION/SHAKE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 65 MPH. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE THE DAY IT LEFT THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN ON HIGHWAY AND VIBRATION IS FELT, PUTTING THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL DOES NOT CHANGE THE VIBRATION, SLOWING DOWN MAKES IT SLIGHTLY WORSE, SPEEDING IT MAKES IT SLIGHTLY BETTER. FEELS LIKE THERE IS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE GEOMETRY OF THE TRUCK MAKING IT UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ROAD FORCE BALANCE WAS ALREADY DONE AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS ON A BRAND NEW TRUCK.

IN MAY 2018 I PURCHASED A NEW CHEVY SILVERADO LT Z71 PU. I LIVE IN COLORADO AND WHEN I DRIVE THE TRUCK DOWN THE I-70 MOUNTAIN PASS THE TRANSMISSION IS DOWNSHIFTED BEYOND WHAT IO WOULD CALL A SAFE DOWN SHIFT. IM TRAVELING DOWN THE PASS, JUST COASTING, DOWN HILL ASSIST MODE IS OFF @ ROUGHLY 55 MPH THE TRANSMISSION DOWN SHIFT HARD. THE RPM GOES FROM ~1850 TO ~3800 RPM. THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE BOTH MAKE A LOT OF NOISE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I TRAVELED THE PASS ABOUT 8 TIME NOW AND THE TRUCK DOES THIS FUNNY SHIFT EVERYTIME AND I HAVE PICTURE SHOWING 4 EVENTS. I'VE TAKING THE DRIVE INTO THE DEALER AND SINCE THE COMPUTER DOESN'T LOG A ERROR CODE THE DEALER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. THIS PAST WEEK THEY GAVE ANOTHER 2018 P/U WITH THE SAME TRANNY AND ENGINE AND THAT TRUCK DID NOT DO THE SAME DOWNSHIFT. I BELIEVE THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY TRUCK AND ALSO IF THIS EVENT HAPPENED IN THE WINTER ON A SNOWY ROAD THE TRUCK WOULD SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AND CAUSE A ACCIDENT AND IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM BUT THEY ARE REALLY NOT HELP TO RESOLVE THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE TRUCK AGAIN TODAY, NO CODES RECORDED, THE RESET THE TRANSMISSION MEMORY TODAY TO TRY AND SATISFY MY NEED TO DO SOMETHING. I NOW WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALER ON THE NEXT STEPS. I WILL ALSO CALL GM AGAIN TO GIVE THEM THIS INFORMATION. I AM ATTACHING PICTURE THAT CLEARLY SHOW THIS PROBLEM. I ALSO GIVEN THE DEALER THE SAME PICTURES.
