When attempting to stop, the brakes were rock hard and would barley compress. Almost crashed into the car in front of me. Brake booster was replaced a month ago by dealer, but still is losing vacuum. No codes are being thrown, so any reasonable driver would assume everything is fine with the vehicle. It is going to get someone killed.

02/03/2022 had brake shuttering and hard brake coming to stops and “Brake Assist” warning dealership pulled code C025E and replaced brake vacuum sensor. 04/22/2024 same problem arose hard braking shuttering pedal and “Brake Assist” warning. Took truck into dealer code C025E came up and they replaced my brake booster.

Brakes sometimes require more pressure to stop or slow down. Transmission shutters and makes a clunking noise between shifting points. Kind of a sound bad u-joints make. Air Conditioning leaked all freon out in 2024 with 70k miles just 2mos. after service at a GM Dealership. Still not repaired.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was vibrating abnormally while driving 45 MPH. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the brake pads and rotors needed to be replaced. The mechanic later determined that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The local dealer was contacted, and determined there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that there was no recall coverage for the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

Sometimes when traveling higher speeds (55-70)and braking going downhill, a hard brake will come out of nowhere. Not enough lock up the brakes or anything but enough to scare the crap out of you!!! If it would happen to a elderly person or a less experienced driver, they could probably lose control or wrack. With the power train...sometimes when accelerating(from a stop or low speed)it seems as though it gets stuck in gear or skips a gear. You won't have any power then bam... almost cerps the back tires

There is a recall for a brake issue on Chevy Silverados of the same year mine is doing exactly the same as the recall calls for but when I try to get the repair for the recall I’m told my vehicle doesn’t have the recall. The problem almost causes crashes due to the brakes not working when the pedal is pressed.

Jul 12, 2024

While vehicle is in motion the brake system will automatically start to lock up the brakes and then the stabilitrak light will light up on the dash. As well as if cruise control was set to whatever speed the brakes at some point will begin to slowly lock up causing cruise control to disengage and stabilitrak light will turn on. Relating to: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 20V603000 GM's number for this recall is N202300860.

I've been in and out of dealers over the transmission shifting points and hard down shifts when almost stopped. And the a/c condenser has cracked on the side for no known reason at 75k miles except for the fact of bad manufacturing

So the recalls were done on my vehicle in September 2023 , I purchased the vehicle in August and after the recalls were performed the truck would seem different but I thought it was just me, we'll I had an alignment done because it was driving crazy , this wasn't done at the chevrolet dealership, so recently we've experience some braking issues and pulling off to the side well I took it to the ryan chevrolet on a thursday and the mechanic kept the truck until Monday so he can diagnose the issue. We'll then he says nothing wrong but recommended I pay for an alignment because ones never been done the original pins were still attached. I declined because I knew better and so he charged me 80. 00 times 2 because I iefused, he was diagnosing the 2 different things I told him we were experiencing. These are the things that can occur if If the recalls arent taken care of, but he didn't care about my concerns, nor did he want to listen , o me I went to big o and I asked about the alignment and they showed me mt truck is perfect in alignment. The brake issues and the going off to the side are getting worse.

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle had experienced several safety related failures which included unintended acceleration. The contact indicated that the transmission needed to be replaced on multiple occasions due to the failure. The braking system had malfunctioned and caused the brake pedal to become difficult to depress. The brake master cylinder was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. Additionally, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the power steering failed causing the steering wheel to become difficult to turn in either direction. The steering rack was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that there was a loud clanking sound underneath the vehicle while driving over a bump in the road. The motor mount was replaced, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.

The recall was to REPLACE the vacuum pump and vacuum belt. The dealer recalibrate the vehicle computer instead. I have spoken with GM several times now and am not gett8ng a straight resolve.

Feb 27, 2024

The following Recalls were found on Kelly bluebook, that matched the issues I have been having with my vehicle perfectly. When calling the recall center, they stated my vehicle year 2018 Chevy Silverado and serial number were not listed for this but it's the exact diagnosis of what I'm experiencing. The Unintended activation of the driveline-protection system will cause unintended braking on the wheel on the opposite side of the failed sensor, causing the vehicle to pull to one side unexpectedly, increasing the risk of a crash. As the vacuum level drops, the brake assists decrease, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. A decrease in brake assist can increase the brake pedal effort and distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The brakes inflate on their own as if someone is pressing them down while driving. The vehicle begins to jerk horribly causing the inability to steer or maintain control of the vehicle or the ability to stop. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? This is very dangerous. I have no control over the speed of the vehicle or if the brakes will fail, or if the brakes will burn up due to fighting with the accelerator while driving. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, the manufacturer inspected it and stated they could fix the issues, paid but then the same malfunction kept happening even after payment and supposedly being fixed. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? None related to the issues, Stabilitrak warning and then random hill assist to inflate the brake vacuum

Vacuum Pump is leaking oil and internal components are rattling indicating imminent failure and that is a safety hazard for the vehicle and passengers. Oil is being slung all over the front of the engine and multiple belts creating additional operating hazards for the vehicle and passengers. There was a recall concerning reprogramming software to reroute air pressure to the brake system and prevent total failures. Also, technical service bulletin addresses related issues to vacuum pump failures and other affected system components. My vehicle is available, no one has looked at it, we are in danger every time we ride in this condition, no indication of failure other than those already stated. My truck is going on 6 years old and 118K miles. Hardly the time for a brake system failure for a normal use vehicle. This is a safety hazard that GM has created by utilizing faulty components and should be treated as such with all vehicles affected recalled for replacement before vehicles and passengers are seriously injured.

Last night the truck wouldn’t turn on. The battery had died 4 days after the car was serviced at a local Chevy dealership. I turned the truck on this morning, with what seemed like it didn’t want to turn on and now I’m getting an alert “trailer brake system” i will be contacting the dealership once it’s open

When I hit the brakes the brake pedal gets hard and I can hear air leak from around the brake pedal. There is a recall for this but my VIN does not fall into the recall, per the dealership and Chevrolet. The description of the recall is the identical thing that is happening when I hit the brakes. The recall info is listed below. Service brakes, hydraulic Recall date 2020-10-01 Recall no. 20V603000 General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain 2018 Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Tahoe, GMC Sierra 1500 and Yukon vehicles equipped with either a 5.3L or 6.2L V8 engine. The output of the mechanical vacuum pump can decrease over time, decreasing the amount of vacuum/power brake assist. Hide details Recall consequence A decrease in brake assist can increase the brake pedal effort and distance required to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Recall action GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the Electronic Brake Control Module, free of charge. The recall is scheduled to begin November 16, 2020. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-866-522-9559, Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006 or Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-630-2438. GM's number for this recall is N202300860.

Both front brakes applied themselves going down highway. Brake pedal was hard and stiff. Had to pull over. Brakes did not disengage for several minutes. Could not get brakes to release. After turning the vehicle off, drove to nearest auto repair shop, and brakes seized again going barely 20 mph. Chevrolet dealership did diagnostics and could not find anything obvious. No warning lights or issues occurred before this moment. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Unknown exact cause. Has occurred since diagnostics. No replacements or work has been done directly related to this issue as nobody is certain what the cause is.

Jun 8, 2023 Crash

The wheel/wheels locked up while in motion and caused vehicle to veer off road and cause the vehicle to crash. ABS light and Stability Control System warning came on prior to crash.

Jun 2, 2023

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed that the computer module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. While driving approximately 60 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed and there was smoke coming from the four wheels. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate or move forward. The contact pulled over, and her husband drove the vehicle to the residence. Additionally, while driving, the vehicle failed to move, and smoke was detected from the brakes. While her son was driving at approximately 35 MPH, he was unable to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and the contact was informed that the rear calipers had detached, and the braking system needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken back to the mechanic and the contact was informed that the front brake calipers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. On another occasion while driving at an unknown speed, there was smoke coming from the brakes. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the failure was due to the hydraulic control module and referred her to the local dealer for assistance. The electronic stability control warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage approximately 69,000.

While driving on the highway the vehicle began to shake and the stability track light came on. It felt like it affected the transmission. We had to get it towed 30 miles to our home area. Shop Calibrated the brakes and says that took care of it. This vehicle only has 30,000 miles on it.

:Service Trailer Brake" warning comes on on every start up with no trailer hooked up. The warning can usually be dismissed, but for 40 minutes one time ,it constantly came on and off constantly. Could not get it to stop. Very distracting and dangerous. An independent repair shop has confirmed the condition, but unable to diagnose problem.

Transmission doesn’t shift smoothly and often slams into second gear from first very hard. Downshifting on rare occasions shifts to a lower gear before necessary causing rpms to go from 2800-3000 up to 4500-5000. I have to touch the gas real quick to upshift. Also brakes seem to require extra strength to engage if hard braking is required. Like the booster is not reacting properly.

Feb 15, 2023 Crash

The contact owned a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at 80 MPH the steering wheel became stiff and the vehicle would not brake without any warning. The contact desperately pressed on the brake pedal but the vehicle would not brake, causing the contact to be struck by another vehicle on the driver's side. No one was injured and no major damage to none of the vehicles. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed a loss. All the air bags deploy but the front driver side. The manufacturer was not unable to reach them. The failure mileage was 69,000.

The brakes failed to work when I was in a parking lot. As I was pulling into a parking spot, the brakes did not work even when I pumped them. I was going approximately 3mph. It startled me, so I put the truck in neutral and then into park. Then I turned the vehicle off. Fortunately, this happened in a parking lot and I was able to avoid hitting anything, including a pedestrian. Also, this put my husband and me at great risk because if I had not chosen to go back into a parking lot, and had gone into an intersection and been unable to stop, I could have entered the intersection and been in a serious accident. The truck functioned well enough to get to my dealership. I avoided driving it for a couple of weeks until they could run diagnostics. Between the time it first happened and bringing it to the dealership, the problem did not occur. However, when the technician was driving it into the shop, it happened to him too. They did perform diagnostics and found a problem with a brake Pump 3.280 (Part No. 12696313). I had it repaired at my own expense ($587.65) on Nov. 22, 2022. NOTE: This truck has only 25,673 miles on it. There has been a recall for this problem on Silverados from this year, but my VIN number was not included in the recall. There were no warnings prior to this event. I would like to have this repair cost reimbursed.

Nov 23, 2022

I have done some research and found other trucks same year and make have had the same problem and have had recalls but the problem is when I hit the break the lights will all flash like the truck is going to stall and it will say service trailer break system and stablitrak system and will even shut my truck off while I’m driving causing me to have to either pull of the side of the road and start my truck back up

Sep 5, 2022

On Saturday Aug 6th, 2022 my girlfriend and I were driving in my 2018 Chevy Silverado and the car just came to a complete stop really hard. Once the truck froze up, the car would go FOWARD but very slow, jerkish, and sluggish. We were almost hit by three cars behind us when the truck froze up. The truck was towed to the dealership where they diagnosed the truck with METAL SHAVINGS in the TRANSMISSION. And the engine light came on four weeks after I bought the vehicle last October. This time…. There was NO engine light on. Nothing displayed on dashboard.

I'm getting a persistent message about servicing the trailer brake system. There is no trailer hooked up to the vehicle. The message covers the speedometer and chimes over anything else.

Aug 31, 2022

While driving down the road, I received several non stop alert messages stating "Service Trailer Brake System". The messages were non stop and while I did attempt to acknowledge them and dismiss the alert, I was distracted from driving and had to pull over to attempt to acknowledge or dismiss the alert. After several minutes, I was able to dismiss the alert and continue on my way. This happened on Tuesday evening around 5:00 pm on August 30, 2022. I called Mike Anderson Chevrolet on Wednesday August 31, 2022 around 12:30 pm to advise them about the situation and was told it was water in the wiring.

Jul 9, 2022

Service Trailer brake system audible message appearing due to faulty wire harness between body control modules.

Jun 30, 2022

While towing a trailer the service trailer brake system light/alarm came on, trailer brakes stopped working and the alarm persisted for hours. It was extremely distracting and dangerous, and interrupted hands free phone calls.

Jun 17, 2022

I purchased a certified pre-owned 2017 Chevy Silverado on June 6 of this year. On June 13th, on my way back from a 10-hour trip, where I was towing a trailer with a car on it, my trailer brakes suddenly stopped functioning (about 4 hours from home). Not only did the trailer brakes stop functioning, but a warning message popped up on the dashboard "service trailer brake system". But this warning message didn't pop up just one time, it kept coming again and again and again and again and again, relentlessly chiming and distracting me from driving, it covered my speedometer readout, it prevented me from receiving or making voice commands, prevented me from hearing phone calls, and prevented me from listening to music. The service warning chime also prevented the turn signal chime from functioning. So for a full 4 hours, I was constantly reminded with a service trailer brake system chime, was unable to hear my turn signal chime, was unable to listen to music or make a phone call, and was unable to see the digital readout of my speed. The vehicle had been rendered completely undrivable, and I absolutely will not hesitate to say that the vehicle was not safe to drive in that condition. Especially if you consider that I was towing 5,000 lbs with no working trailer brakes. Your vehicle's defect endangered my life.

Jun 12, 2022

Trailer brake issues. Blows fuses non stop chiming in the dash. Once fuse blows it doesn't chime anymore. Replace fuse and it's non stop all day every day. Been dealing with it for a couple years. Tons of people have the same problem.

Jun 2, 2022

A faulty internal computer constantly beeps a warning about "trailer brake system" when there is no trailer attached to the vehicle. The beeping is extremely hyperactive and non stop and distracts you from safe driving and interrupts all other audible functions (such as turn signal blinking & navigation voice commands) to render the vehicle unfit to drive.

Mar 21, 2022

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would not properly accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the braking system malfunctioned causing the braking distance to be extended. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was contacted and notified of the failure. The local dealer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 96,000.

Mileage: 96,000

Mar 20, 2022

The trailer brake system warning suddenly came on, disengaging my cruise control. My cruise control has not worked since. Also, the stabilitrac warning came on and has not left. Ever since then I have been hearing a squeaking noise driving at low speeds.

Feb 23, 2022

For months now, my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 has a “service trailer brake system”notification on the the dash that repeatedly pops up every 5-15 seconds while the vehicle is on, including while driving. This, along with the pinging sound that comes with the notification, makes the vehicle difficult to drive due to the constant distraction the notification makes. I have tried taking issue with the dealership but they are not helping whatsoever. From my own research online, I have seen hundreds of other people experiencing the same issue. Please help us eliminate this distraction by forcing a recall and thus making the roads safer for everyone. Thank you.

2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 .1/20/22 slow driving in a parking lot, applied brake to slow down for a stopped vehicle and pedal was soft and went almost to the floor could have killed someone, this happened 3 times within 4 minutes Power Brake Assist warning came on, the brake assist decreases, increasing braking effort, extending the distance required to stop the vehicle, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. called local CHEVROLET dealer Jenkins Chevrolet of Homosassa service department told the manager that my truck was working right they said it was not involved in a recall my truck showed all the symptoms in this recall, NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V645000

Dec 14, 2021

While coming to a stop at a traffic signal I experienced a sudden braking loss. The pedal began to vibrate and I noticed an extreme reduction in braking power. I then got a prompt on my dashboard saying “service brake assist.” I narrowly avoided the car in front of me while trying to stop. I contacted GM and they claim even though my year make and model are the same as vehicles being recalled my specific VIN# is not.

Dec 12, 2021

Bought the truck new. Never towed a trailer till well after warranty. Service trailer brake light keeps coming on continuously. Then no trailer lights or trailer brakes. Found 2 blown fuses but now the same thing is happening again. After my research I found tons of information that lots of other people are having the same issues. I have not pulled my RV since because I'm worried about it not having brakes. It's quite large and without them this truck would not be able to stop in case of a quick emergency.

Nov 30, 2021

My 2018 chevy silverado started making weird squeaky/popping sounds it almost sounds like something is rubbing against something else when stepping on the break pedal. When driving at any rate of speed the pedal seems to not make the squeaking noise but when I make a complete stop for example at a traffic light and let go of the break pedal and press again I can hear that noise loud and clear even passengers can hear it, Another example would be going in a drive thru of a restaurant that pretty much break pedal is used every 3 seconds as you pulling forward there the noise becomes constant every time stepping and letting go of the break pedal. My silverado has about 80,000 miles on it

Nov 12, 2021

Trailer brake system failure we noticed the sudden drainage of power resulting in death of battery multiple times alert was present after we notice the loss in voltage in battery to battery drainage after research I found that it is usually a short or a bad wiring harness which causes this and could pose a danger considering how I at one point in time have trilled things this could be an issue and a danger to others on the road

Nov 2, 2021

It started 400 miles after I bought the truck new and was on vacation with my family, the trailer break system lights started coming on so I detached my travel trailer and took it into a Chevrolet dealership in flagstaff Arizona they couldn’t find out why it was doing it and told me it must be the plug in the trailer it self . So on our trip we were driving threw Zion National Park when my trailer break did not engage down a steep grade and my truck break barley held enough to stop us down the grade , lucky for us the exhaust break gave us just that little bit to help us stop the truck. And now I see people on you tube showing the problem and wonder why GM has not done anything about it , I have paid many time for my truck to be fully serviced and I’m still dealing with this broken piece .

Oct 20, 2021

Service Brake Assist warning on message center. Brakes go from power to manual

Oct 6, 2021

On 10/03/21 at approximately 1251 hours, I was driving my 2018 Chevrolet Silverado which is the vehicle with the above mentioned VIN. As I was traveling towards a heavily traveled intersection in my current city, I approached a steady red signal on the traffic light. It should be noted that this particular part of the roadway is a slight decline towards the intersection and traffic control signal. It should also be noted that on this particular day, there were no inclement weather or roadway conditions that would affect the vehicle to deviate from normal maneuvering. As I applied the brakes at a reasonable distance from the stop light, almost all pressure and power towards braking was lost. As a result, I was forced to apply extensive pressure to the brake pedal as the vehicle failed to slow and stop in a timely fashion. After gaining some braking power, the vehicle and brakes began to shake and produce a clunking sound. This was troublesome because had I failed to stop in a timely manner, I or other motorists could have suffered serious injury or death as a result of a crash at a heavily traveled intersection. Prior to this incident, there were no warnings or alerts provided by the vehicle, dealer, or manufacturer about this issue. As the event occurred, an alert flashed on my dashboard that read “Service Brake Assist.” Following the incident, my vehicle was inspected by a certified mechanic. Said mechanic deemed that the problem with the braking was a result of a failure of the brake booster vacuum system. After doing some research, it is apparent that other years, makes, and models of GMC products suffered the same issue with the braking system. Said issues were remediated with a recall by the manufacturer. This defect also caused numerous vehicle crashes with reported injuries.

Sep 22, 2021

When driving the brake pedal goes soft. In parking lots, areas of low speeds, making u-turns the brake pedal goes all the way to the floor and doesn’t stop. The brakes completely stop working until you release and pump the brakes again quickly before hitting something or someone.

Aug 22, 2021

Truck loses power driving down the road. The service trailer brake system warning comes on the dash. The battery dies because of this also.

Aug 18, 2021

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and failed to start. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The contact stated he replaced the battery and was able to start the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while the vehicle was parked. The contact stated he was able to jumpstart and restart the vehicle however, as he was exiting the parking lot and making a right turn, the vehicle inadvertently stalled almost causing him to crash into a wall. Several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact jumpstarted the vehicle however, the failure reoccurred while driving and he veered to the side of the road. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The radio, the headlights were engaging and disengaging independently. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of repair as the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist because the VIN was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 56,500.

Mileage: 56,500

The DIC and infotainment both change settings on their own. It will change radio stations or call people on the infotainment and the DIC will change information displayed. The safety issue is it will also flash that the trailer has been disconnected/connected and when it thinks the trailer has been disconnected the trailer brakes will fail to function. It is a known problem with the display issue but I am unaware of any reports on trailer brake function. I have had a few serious conditions on two trailers when the truck does not recognize the trailer being connected and fails to apply the brakes.

Jul 24, 2021

The trailer brake control module stopped working on the interstate while pulling a 37' fifth wheel camper. This defective part caused the truck to not have any electric brakes on the camper. A warning message appeared on the dash. A new trailer brake control module fixed the problem. Since the vehicle was out of warranty (37,878 miles) the part was not covered by the dealer. The dealership where the part was purchased informed me that it was a common problem. This problem occurred while traveling at 65 miles per hour. There was only the truck brakes to stop the camper without the trailer brakes working. This is a serious problem and should be addressed.

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, A LOUD SQUEALING SOUND WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE VICINITY OF THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE. WHILE UNDER THE OEM BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTED PERIOD, CHEVROLET DEALER NUMBER ONE WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM OR REPAIR IT. FURTHERMORE, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT REPORTED IN THE VEHICLE HISTORY AS REPORTED. A SHORT PERIOD LATER, CHEVROLET DEALER NUMBER TWO WAS ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM AND REPAIR IT AT MY PERSONAL EXPENSE AS THE WARRANTED EXPIRED ON TIME AS OPPOSED TO MILEAGE. I LEARNED THAT THE SAME PROBLEM WAS A PART OF A PREVIOUS RECALL WHICH DEALT WITH FAILURE OF THE BRAKE ASSIST PUMP. GM RECTIFIED THE RECALL BY CHANGING THE COMPUTER SOFTWARE TO OVERDRIVE THE PUMP BEYOND IT'S ORIGINAL DESIGN SPEED. THIS PROVIDED AN INCREASE IN PRESSURE WHICH TEMPORARILY CORRECTED THE FAILURE. THE CORRECTIVE ACTION ADDED MORE STRESS TO THE ORIGINAL DESIGN OF THE PUMP AND NOW THE PUMP IS MECHANICALLY FAILING AS A RESULT. THIS FAILURE COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE AN IMMEDIATE UNEXPECTED BRAKE FAILURE POTENTIALLY RESULTING IN FRONTAL COLLISION AND LOSS OF LIFE!. THE DEALERS HAVE NOT PROVIDED COPIES OF SERVICE ORDERS OR REPLACED PARTS. I ONLY HAVE RENTAL AGREEMENTS TO SUBSTANTIATE THAT SOMETHING WAS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. GM'S CUSTOMER CARE IS INVESTIGATING THE UNPRECEDENTED BEHAVIOR OF THE FRANCHISED DEALERS WITH NO REPLY TO ME AT THIS TIME.

TRANSMISSION LOCKED UP AND FAILED. ACTED LIKE IT BOUND UP. THIS HAPPENED DURING A NORMAL SHIFT SEQUENCE, ACTED TIGHT THEN ENGINE JUST KEPT OVER REVVING. HAPPENED ABOUT 3-4 MONTHS AGO. DEALER FIXED FOR FREE. SAID IT WAS COMMON. THIS HAPPENED RIGHT AT 60K MILES. SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN THEY WILL NOT WARRANTY IT AS THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. SUGGESTED I BUY ANOTHER NEW TRUCK. NEXT PROBLEM IS MY RIGHT FRONT CALIPER HAS FAILED TWICE AND NEEDED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. IT IS NOW FAILING FOR THE THIRD TIME. THIS IS SERIOUSLY UNSAFE AND CRAZY. I HAVE ONLY ABOUT 73K MILES ON THIS TRUCK. THIRD THING IS MY CHROME TRIM ON MY DOOR HANDLES HAS REPEATEDLY FAILED. I WAS TOLD BY MY DEALER THIS IS NORMAL AND IT IS NOT FIXABLE UNLESS I PAY THEM. IT IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE TRUCK IS BABIED AND KEPT IN PERFECT CONDITION.

ABS (TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEM) AND STABITRAK WARNING LIGHTS RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND REMAIN ON UNTIL VEHICLE TURNS OFF. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE REAR WHEELS HAVE LOCKED AND STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT EVEN WHEN BRAKES ARE NOT BEING APPLIED. THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT VARYING SPEEDS AND IN VARYING WEATHER CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED BY DEALER ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THIS AND SERVICE WAS REPORTED UNABLE ONCE LIGHTS HAVE GONE OFF. SAID INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED APPROXIMATELY 30-50 TIMES OVER THE PAST 18MONTHS.

AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS PARKING LOT, OR TRAFFIC JAM, AND EVEN WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHES UP AND BECOMES VERY HARD. THE BRAKES STOP WORKING AND THE TRUCK MUST BE TAKEN OUT OF DRIVE. CHEVY HAS ISSUED A RECALL ON SILVERADO TRUCKS 2014-2018 EQUIPPED WITH 5.3L MOTORS THE RECALL NUMBER IS 20V603000. EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENS AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY BRAKE ASSIST IS EXACTLY WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY 2018 SILVERADO (5.3L) BOMNIN CHEVROLET DADELAND AND CHEVY IS TELLING ME THAT MY VIN NUMBER DOESN'T QUALIFY ME FOR THE RECALL, YET MY TRUCK DESCRIPTION AND BRAKE PROBLEM, BOTH MATCH THE RECALL PERFECT. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY BOMNIN CHARGED ME $630 AND WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP THE TRUCK IT IS EXACTLY THE SAME. NO BRAKES AT IDLE.

WHILE DRIVING ON 30-40MPH AND HIT THE BRAKES SLOWLY, IT FEELS AS IF THE PEDAL IS GONNA FALL OFF AND CAN ALSO FEEL A VIBRATE ON IT. IT ALSO STALLS AS IF THE BRAKES ARE BEING PRESSED BUT I'M NOT, THIS HAPPENS USUALLY IN THE BEGINNING AFTER BEING TURNED ON AND THEN STOPS DOING IT AFTER REACHING THE MIDDLE OF THE TEMPERATURE.

I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND PUT THE TRUCK IN REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. GAVE THE TRUCK GAS AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. PUT THE TRUCK BACK IN PARK AND LOOKED AT THE GUAGES AND THERE WERE NO RPM'S SHOWING ON THE CLUSTER AND THE OIL PRESSURE WAS AT ZERO. THERE WAS A MESSAGE THAT SAID TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE SCREEN. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND ON AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I PUT THE TRUCK IN DRIVE AND IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD BUT THE MOTOR RAN VERY ROUGH AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. I DISMISSED THE FIRST MESSAGE AND ANOTHER MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT SAID "STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED, DRIVE WITH CARE." I PULLED INTO ANOTHER PARKING SPOT, TURNED THE TRUCK OFF, AND WAITED FOR A RIDE. I STARTED THE TRUCK WHEN MY RIDE SHOWED UP TO MAKE SURE IT WAS STILL NOT WORKING AND IT WAS AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED BEFORE. THE TRUCK HAD NO ISSUES ON THE 16 MILE DRIVE HOME. GOT HOME AND TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND THE MESSAGE CAME BACK UP AND THE ISSUES CAME BACK. I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM AND ME SHIFTING THE TRUCK AND THE GUAGE CLUSTER. I HAVE A PICTURE OF THE STEERING ASSIST MESSAGE.

WHILE DRIVING 41-60MPH, THE TRUCK STARTS TO IDLE AS IF THE BRAKES ARE BEING PUSHED ON ONE TIRE AND THE BRAKE PEDALS AND GAS PEDAL TEND TO VIBRATE AS IF IT WERE TO FALL OFF. AFTER AWHILE DOING THAT, THE STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT MESSAGE COMES ON AFTER REACHING THE MIDDLE OF THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. SEEMS LIKE IT DOES IT WHEN IT'S ON LOW TEMPERATURE.

I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT ALREADY ABOUT MY 2018 SILVERADO1500 L, NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE ABOUT THE COMPLAINT FILED. MY TRUCK ROAD VERY ROUGH, IT HAD A BAD VIBRATION AND SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END. THE FRONT END WOULD NOSE DIVE WHEN BRAKING. THE TRUCK WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT WHEN GOING AROUND A RIGHT CURVE. THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WAS RIDING ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE. TAKING TO LONG TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP WHEN BRAKING. THESE COMPLAINTS WERE IGNORED BY THE GM SERVICE CENTERS, I WAS PRETTY MUCH CALLED A LIAR. THE LEFT SIDE FRONT TIRE EDGE WAS VERY VISIBLE TO THE EYE ON THE TIRE RIDING ON THE EDGE. CALLED A LIAR AGAIN. AT 16000 MILES I TOOK MATTERS INTO MY OWN HANDS. I BOUGHT NEW SHOCKS AND STRUTS AND HAD A CERTIFIED SERVICE CENTER PUT THEM ON. THE TRUCK RIDES WELL, NO MORE SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END, THE STEERING IS FINE GOING AROUND A RIGHT-HAND CURVE DOES NOT PULL TO THE RIGHT ANYMORE. THE TRUCK IS NOW BRAKING LIKE IT IS SUPPOSED TO. I HAVE A WARRANTY ON THIS TRUCK THE DEALERSHIPS DENIED THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE TRUCK. WHY WHEN I HAD THE SHOCKS AND STRUTS CHANGED THE PROBLEMS WENT AWAY. I KEEP THE GM SHOCKS AND STRUTS. I TOOK A STRUT AND PLACED THE ROD END ON A BOARD AND PUSHED DOWN ON THE TUBE THE ROD WENT INTO THE TUBE WITH HARDLY ANY RESISTANCE THEY WERE JUNK. I AM GOING TO MAKE A VIDEO DEMONSTRATING THE GM STRUT AND SEND IT TO THE NEWS MEDIA ALONG WITH THE PAPERWORK SHOWING WHERE I HAD TAKEN MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTERS. IF GM IS NOT GOING TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND TELL THEIR SERVICE CENTER TECHS TO LIE ABOUT THE PROBLEM THE PUBLIC HAS THE RIGHT TO KNOW. I AM GOING TO PUT THE DATE THAT I HAD THE SHOCKS AND STRUTS CHANGED ON THE NEXT STEP. *TR

MY TRUCK HAS A KNOWN RECALL WITH THE BRAKES FAILING DUE TO A MECHANICAL ISSUE WITH THE VACCUM. I CONTACTED HOLLY CHEVY IN MARION ARKANSAS AND IT HAS BEEN NOW OVER A MONTH AWAITING PARTS. I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE DUE TO IT BEING MY ONLY VEHICLE TO TRAVEL TO WORK. I HAVE EXPRESSED THIS SAFETY ISSUE TO THEM AND HAVING TO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH FORCE TO STOP THE TRUCK.

CURRENTLY THERE IS A RECALL FOR SAME MAKE OF MY VECHILE BUT NOT THIS VIN, AND ISSUE IS THE SAME WITH MY VECHILE. BREAKS WHEN PRESSED KICKS BACK AT ME. AND WILL HEAR A BACK KICK. AND ELECTRICAL WILL MAKE NOISE IN THE VECHILCE WHEN STOPPED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING LOW SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND FAILED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AND WAS TOWED TO WIESNER OF HUNTSVILLE (230 I-45, HUNTSVILLE, TX 77320, (936) 291-7500). THE DEALER WAS CURRENTLY REPAIRING THE VACUUM BRAKES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,325. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THE TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 100 MILES ON IT. I HAD BEEN DRIVING AT 55 AND ENTERING TOWN. SLOWED TO 45, THEN 35, THEN 25 MPH. HAD A SLOW COAST DOWN HILL APPROX 200 YDS AT 25MPH WHILE LIGHTLY ON THE BRAKES. I ATTEMPTED TO STOP AS I WAS APPROACHING A STOPSIGN. THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED DEEPER THAN USUAL, WAS VERY HARD, AND I DID NOT HAVE MUCH STOPPING FORCE. I HAD TO STAND VERY HARD ON THE PEDAL TO GET IT STOPPED AND MY STOPPING DISTANCE WAS GREATER THAN USUAL. HAD THERE BEEN A PEDESTRIAN CROSSING THE STREET THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A BIG PROBLEM. AS A LET OFF THE PEDAL TO CROSS THE INTERSECTION, THERE WAS A SURGE LIKE THE ENGINE WAS STUCK ON FAST IDLE OR LIKE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A LOW RPM BRAKE STAND. AFTER THAT SHORT INCIDENT, BRAKE FUNCTION WAS BACK TO NORMAL AND I DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME WITHOUT ANOTHER ISSUE.

DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE AT 5MPH WITH HILL DECENT ACTIVATED. BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO PULSATE, WHICH WAS FELT IN THE PEDAL AND IT WAS MAKING AN ODD AUDIBLE PULSATING NOISE FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL NON-STOP AS IF ABS WAS CONSTANTLY ENGAGING. BRAKES SUDDENLY DISENGAGED AND TRUCK STARTED PICKING UP SPEED. ERROR DISPLAYED ON DASH WHICH SAID SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM. I BELIEVE ANOTHER ERROR WAS DISPLAYED BUT I DIDN'T SEE IT. I ATTEMPTED TO MANUALLY APPLY BRAKES, HOWEVER PEDAL WAS EXTREMELY STIFF/HARD AND I WAS UNABLE TO PRESS BRAKE PEDAL DOWN, AND THE TRUCK DID NOT SLOW. THE PEDAL WAS HARD FOR 1 SECOND THEN THE POWER BRAKES RETURNED, AND I WAS ABLE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE. ALL ERROR SYMBOLS DISAPPEARED FROM THE DISPLAY. A NEW TICKING TYPE NOISE JUST STARTED FROM THE DRIVER SIDE LOWER ENGINE AREA. I LATER RECEIVED TWO ONSTAR EMAILS WHICH STATED; -'AN ISSUE WITH THE ANTILOCK BRAKING SYSTEM IN YOUR 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS BEEN DETECTED. PLEASE SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE WITHIN 7 DAYS.' -'AN ISSUE WITH THE STABILITRAK STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM IN YOUR 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS BEEN DETECTED. PLEASE SERVICE YOUR VEHICLE WITHIN 7 DAYS.' VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A CHEVROLET DEALER WHO SAID THE VACUUM PUMP HAD FAILED. PER MY ONLINE SEARCH THE PROBLEM IS DESCRIBED IN GM BULLETIN #PIT5361B. VACUUM PUMP WAS REPLACED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY.

Jan 19, 2019 Crash

IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE I WAS THE AT FAULT DRIVER, I WAS APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT AND DID NOT NOTICE THE RED LIGHT NOR THE CAR STOPPED UNTIL APPROXIMATELY THREE SECONDS BEFORE IMPACT. ONCE I RECOGNIZED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I IMMEDIATELY SLAMMED ON THE BREAKS. I HIT THE OTHER DRIVER IN THE REAR OF HIS VEHICLE. AS STATED ABOVE, I HIT MY BREAKS ABOUT 3 SECONDS BEFORE IMPACT, BUT MY ABS DID NOT ACTIVATE; INSTEAD MY BREAKS LOCKED AND I SLID 15-30 FEET INTO THE OTHER VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, SINCE MY AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, A TOW TRUCK WAS REQUIRED TO TOW MY TRUCK. UPON ARRIVAL OF THE TOW, MY TRUCK WOULD NOT START, SO HE NEEDED TO PULL IT UP ONTO THE BED OF HIS TOW TRUCK WITH CHAINS. ONCE HOOKED UP, HE BEGAN TO DRAG THE TRUCK UP. THE TOW DRIVER ASKED ME IF THE TRUCK WAS 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND WHETHER I HAD BEEN DRIVING IN 4 WHEEL. I INDICATED IT DID, BUT I WAS NOT DRIVING IN 4 WHEEL MODE. I ASKED WHY HE HAD ASKED, AND HE SAID THAT IT WHILE PULLING THE TRUCK UP, ALL FOUR WHEELS WERE LOCKED. HE SAID THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN NORMALLY. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY HOW THE MECHANICS OF ABS WORK, BUT I HAVE FELT ABS ENGAGE MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVE ATTENDING DRIVERS TRAINING FOR WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS. MY ABS DID NOT ACTIVATE; THERE WAS NO STUTTER OF THE BREAKS, ONLY A STABLE PRESS WITH NO ACTIVE RESPONSE OTHER THAN LOCKED BREAKS AND A LONG SKID.

THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT SOLID HARD AND LOSS OF BRAKING HAPPENED WHILE BACKING A BOAT TRAILER DOWN A BOAT LAUNCH RAMP. WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED THE DASH FLASHED SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST. LOSS OF POWER BRAKES CAUSED THE TRUCK TO NOT STOP EVEN WITH PUSHING DOWN ON THE PEDDLE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. THIS OCCURRED WHILE COASTING IN REVERSE OFF OF THE THROTTLE USING THE BRAKE TO SLOW THE VEHICLE AND BOAT DOWN WHILE GOING DOWN THE LAUNCH RAMP IN REVERSE. SPEED WAS APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. I MANAGED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT THE WATER LINE BY APPLYING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED REPLACED THE VACUUM PUMP UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO WEAK VACUUM. I LOST POWER BRAKES AGAIN ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP WHEN BACKING DOWN AN INCLINE ON MY DRIVEWAY AT LOW SPEED. THE DASH FLASHED SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST AGAIN. RETURNED TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING AND TOOK A TECHNICIAN ON A TEST DRIVE WITH ME. SHOWED TECHNICIAN LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND SERVICE BRAKE ASSIST MESSAGE ON DASH WHEN BRAKING IN REVERSE ON AN INCLINE. CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP SAYS THEY CONTACTED CHEVROLET TECHNICAL SUPPORT AND REPLACED BRAKE BOOSTER AND REPLACED VACUUM PUMP FOR THE SECOND TIME. THIS IS ON A 2018 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 LT1 WITH THE 6.2L ENGINE AND 42,155 MILES.
