Originally the ECS message came up on the dashboard. The truck started running rough with the engine shaking and white smoke started blowing out of the exhaust. The problems started showing just as I was entering the interstate. I pulled over to the emergency lane. The truck was towed to a local dealer. They ran the diagnostic on the engine and found the #8 cylinder has no pressure and fuel was dumping into the engine. The engine had to be replaced. There was no warnings before this happened.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at 55 MPH, the check engine warning light illuminated. A dealer was contacted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the engine and the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and suggested that the contact take the vehicle to the dealer for repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

While merging onto another highway at normal traffic speed, I pressed the accelerator to safely increase speed and merge with traffic. At that moment, I heard a loud bang coming from the front engine bay. Immediately afterward, the vehicle began making loud rattling noises, multiple warning lights illuminated on the dashboard, and the vehicle rapidly lost power. The car began decelerating while still on the highway, creating a dangerous situation. I was unable to maintain speed with surrounding traffic. Had another vehicle been approaching at a higher speed, this sudden loss of power could have resulted in a serious accident. The vehicle was later inspected by a Chevrolet dealership, which confirmed that the engine failed at approximately 77,000 miles. The dealer stated that the engine lifters failed and caused damage to the camshaft, resulting in complete engine failure. This failure occurred without warning and while the vehicle was in motion, presenting a serious safety risk. A sudden engine power loss at highway speeds significantly increases the risk of a collision. I am concerned this may be a defect affecting other vehicles as well.

The oil cooler line was un-lodged from the metal crimp that secures it while I was pulling away causing total loss of all engine oil in a matter of seconds. Not only does the car immediately tell you to turn your car off to avoid catastrophic engine failure, but this is also dangerous for other drivers as the oil may cause a hazard for controlling the vehicle going through the oil.

Jan 4, 2026

The engine locked up on the vehicle. Thought it was a starter issue, had it towed into a local repair show that I used. Diagnostic test showed that the engine would not turn. There was no warning lights or other symptoms. I understand that there has been a recall on the same engines from GMC from 2021 - 2024 and the case is now reopened to include the 2019 and 2020.

Engine powered down and I was able to safely move to the side of the road and wait for a tow truck. Lifters on the truck failed which also damaged the camshaft that is currently being replaced.

The truck is a 2019 Chevy silverado 1500 with a 5.3L V8. I have had 2 engine failures since I got this truck. Related to collapsed lifters causing bearing damage and camshaft damage. The first time this happened was around 98k miles. The failure happened while merging onto I95 and matching the highway speed to merge. I believe It is a dangerous defect because when this happened to me while merging the whole truck violently jolted and shook and lost engine power in the middle of the highway. The jolt was violent enough I suspected I got rear ended for a second after regaining control. The second incident happened about a week ago. This time the rebuilt engine failed the same way as before (bearings, lifters and camshaft) but without the dramatic jolt. The rebuilt engine only lasted 12k miles or so. This time the Camshaft is so bent they cannot remove it from the engine and have to replace the whole engine. The engine may be available for inspection but it is currently at a Chevy dealership while they wait for a new engine. Before these failures there was zero warning of the impending issue. Zero warning lights or messages of any kind. Warning lights and messages only appeared after the engine destroyed itself. I also have maintenance records that show routine maintenance was well accounted for.

an apparent engine malfunction, causing the number 8 cylinder to retard and miss. not sure if the L84 v8 engine s having the same issues as the L87. Just wondering. the vehicle has less than 90k miles and has not been abused.

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding the ongoing issues with my vehicle. The vehicle continues to overheat, the check engine light repeatedly comes on, and it has cut off unexpectedly. The tire air pressure sensors as well. These issues have persisted despite multiple repair attempts. I initially brought the vehicle to the dealership in December 2024, and again in March 2025 and now the vehicle is having the same issues to date December 2025. On both occasions, the vehicle remained at the dealership for over a month for repairs. Unfortunately, the problem has not been resolved. Each time I inquire, I am given different explanations as to why the issue cannot be fixed, which has been extremely frustrating and concerning. Additionally, I am being charged for services that I do not fully understand or agree with, especially given that the original problem still exists. Due to the lack of resolution, I have also contacted GMC directly to file a formal complaint. At this point, the ongoing delays, lack of clear communication, and unresolved mechanical issues are unacceptable. I requested a clear explanation of all charges, as well as a concrete plan outlining the steps needed to finally fix my vehicle. Please provide the appropriate point of contact and advise on how this issue will be resolved promptly. I expect immediate attention to this matter. Thank you.

Dec 24, 2025

Component or system failure: The engine valvetrain (camshaft and lifters) sustained severe internal damage, including camshaft scouring, confirmed during inspection and teardown by an authorized Chevrolet dealership. In addition, the rear differential was found to contain no gear oil when the fill plug was removed during inspection. The vehicle and components are currently at a Chevrolet service center and are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The vehicle experienced persistent drivetrain vibration and abnormal operation that worsened over time and ultimately rendered the vehicle non-operable. Internal engine damage and a rear differential without lubrication present a risk of sudden drivetrain failure, loss of propulsion, or loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. Problem confirmed: Yes. Engine damage has been confirmed by the dealership during teardown. The absence of gear oil in the rear differential was directly observed during inspection. Inspections by others: Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership and by third-party inspectors associated with the extended drivetrain warranty administrator. Two inspections have been completed, and a third inspection has been ordered. No repairs have been completed as of this report. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: Beginning around approximately 21,000 miles (2022), the vehicle developed drivetrain vibration. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership at that time, but the cause was not identified or corrected. No warning lamps or messages are recalled.

On 02-07-2025 I had just got on I-95 North In Daytona Beach, FL. While accelerating to merge with heavy fast traffic I reached a speed of Approx 65 MPH. I moved into to middle lane to allow the merging traffic from the LPGA West ramp entrance. At that moment my car was engulfed in smoke the engine stopped running and I had to navigate to the shoulder surrounded by fast moving traffic very dangerous event but I made it. l immediately got out of the truck as I though is was on fire from all the smoke. After several minutes the smoke decreased and there was oil spray all over the underside of the vehicle from front to rear. The Truck had a total of 64000 Miles since new and the diagnosis was from local Chevy Dealer was The Oil Cooler Line came off, the main bearings spun causing the engine to lock up. End result was I needed a complete engine replacement at a cost of $12,689.60. I have had my truck serviced by a GM Dealer so one would think they would check the oil cooler lines when they do the inspections and routine servicing. Long story short the truck was out of warranty by 4000 Miles and I reached out to Gm customer service and after many weeks they agreed to pay back $4441.46 of the $12,689.60 which was something but I guess they really didn't have to because it was out of warranty. I really just told me that they do not stand behind there products. The real kicker is the remanufactured engine that they put back in came with a better warranty than the original now has 36 Month 100000 miles. I consider myself very lucky to not have caused a very fatal accident trying to get off the interstate that day and I am thankful for that. But this event was caused by a $150.00 Oil cooler line. Now I just drive in the right lane because of that experience.

Dec 18, 2025

While driving at a speed of approximately 55 MPH, the vehicle suddenly displayed a flashing check engine light, ESC error light and stability control warning light on the driver cluster. The vehicle made a loud series of noises and suddenly lost power. The loss of power reduced my ability to control the vehicles acceleration while in traffic creating an immediate traffic hazard. Garage recovered vehicle by tow and found lifter failure, camshaft and cam bearing damage with significant metal shavings throughout engine requiring engine replacement. Repair is estimated at $12,000

On August 1, 2024 I had a knocking in engine Drove 3 miles to Dealer and was told engine needed rebuilt. 88643 miles cost estimate $ 7000. I refused came back GM would pay half I paid 3937.49 On 8/13/2024 I had no choice, I needed it fixed! They should have told me about engine problems and sold me insurance when GM Warranty was expiring I want reimbursed!!

Dec 17, 2025

This truck has been very jerky when shifting. Transmission issue plus engine had valves done but still is a problem mostly jerky really bad to the point seat belt is a good thing.

Dec 14, 2025

I was driving to work in the morning and started to accelerate to the speed limit of 45, and at about 35mph my truck completely shut off. I tried to push the start button while coasting with no avail. I pulled to the shoulder and tried to start it and it would slowly crank similar to a dead battery. I towed it home, then tried to start it later in the day and it started no issues, however ever since then there is a knocking noise from the lower end. I have had it parked for a few weeks and Monday December 15th it will go in to a Chevy dealership for a diagnostic appointment. No there was no lights or warnings related to this, and this did put my life in danger being stranded on the shoulder of a road with limited room to pull off too early in the morning dark out.

Dec 11, 2025

While driving the engine suffered a catastrophic failure and died. Fortunately I was already coming to a stop when it happened. Had I been traveling at speed I would have been seriously injured or killed along with any other vehicles I may have crashed into. The Chevrolet dealership where vehicle was purchased new confirmed it was a catastrophic failure of the GM L87 engine which has knowingly been fraught with these failures. They cannot confirm the exact nature of the failure without dismantling the entire engine at my cost which I have not decided upon doing yet as it will be very expensive. As far as symptoms or warnings I heard a sound from the engine compartment immediately before the engine died.

Dec 10, 2025

The vehicle was shifting hard and eratically on the highway. All dashboard lights came on including the ESC failure warning. A misfire in cylinder 2 occurred without any warning lights causing the vehicle engine to stop running on a highway. The mechanic repair shop did a disgnostic evaluation and reported a catastrophic engine failure from cylinder 2. The engine does not run and requires full replacement. The vehicle has only 80,000 miles.

Dec 9, 2025

In March of 2025, my engine started knocking and had low power. I took it to a local mechanic and he said it was the classic 6.2L rod knock. I took it to the dealer in Decorah Iowa and they agreed that it was the rod knock from the recall. Since it was not covered under the recall, I had to pay almost $10,000 to have it replaced. It took over 4 months to get an engine and then it was finally replaced.

Dec 7, 2025

Engine oil cooler lines leaking crimps. Crimps could completely fail losing engine oil and causing an accident. Dealer has confirmed the issue at last visit.

Dec 1, 2025

My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L engine developed a severe tick, misfire, and rough idle at only 93,000 miles. This was diagnosed as a collapsed AFM lifter on Cylinder 2. GM 5.3L AFM lifter failure is extremely common in these trucks and causes sudden loss of power, misfires, and unsafe driving conditions. This is a known widespread defect, yet GM has not issued a recall. The failure happened without warning and required major engine disassembly. This should be investigated as a safety and reliability issue.

Nov 18, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 MPH, there was an abnormal knocking, popping, and rattling sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact stated that without shifting to park(P), the vehicle turned off unintendedly. The contact had not attempted to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and it was determined that the lifters on the right side of the engine needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the camshaft was possibly replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

“2019 Silverado 5.3L – engine knock + oil leak post-warranty install = fire/breakdown risk”

Nov 13, 2025

"The vehicle has developed a recurring ticking/knocking noise in the engine, worsening under acceleration, accompanied by excessive oil consumption. This is a repeat issue after a warranty repair on June 6, 2022, where all 8 lifters on the right bank were replaced due to AFM/DFM lifter failure. I believe the current problem is caused by metal debris from the initial failure scoring cylinder walls, rings, and bearings, leading to lower-end damage. GM denied coverage under Special Coverage Adjustment N242498000 despite the prior repair and matching symptoms in bulletin PIP5623. Johnson Motor Sales quoted $14,893.89 for engine replacement. The noise and oil loss pose a safety risk of sudden engine failure or loss of power while driving, potentially causing a crash."

Nov 13, 2025

I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 35 MPH entering the flow of traffic, the vehicle lost power with the engine misfiring. The messages "Service Parking Brake" and "Service ESC" were displayed. The check engine warning light was also illuminated. I drove to the nearest dealership the vehicle was diagnosed that cylinder #5 lifters had collapsed. The dealer informed me that the cylinder lifters needed to be replaced. Additionally, the camshaft would be replaced as necessary. The vehicle was being repaired. The manufacturer will be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000. and I was informed that my service contract had expired less than 2 months ago

Engine lifter failure causing car to breakdown on highway. Car had to be towed and repaired with a new engine.

Nov 10, 2025

As I was driving the vehicle it seems to be hesitating or jerking and when I tried to start it,it would say put your foot on the brakes to start, but my foot was on the pedal and it was slow starting.Days later the engine light came on,took it to the dealership and they told me it was a problem with the brake system.I bought the vehicle brand new, only 41,000 miles,on it now, warranty went out in June of this year.I very rarely drives it and now they saying its a 4,000 job to get it fixed.

Nov 5, 2025

While driving down the road the engine quit. There were NO indicators of anything wrong. Check engine light was NOT on. It just quit while driving. I didn’t have any notice. I wasn’t even able to get it off of the road. When it did come to a stop. The engine would not restart. I was stranded and had to get a tow. I had it towed to my mechanic and upon inspection, he says it needs a new motor. My truck has ran fine with all the regular maintenance up to this point.

Nov 4, 2025

When driving normal speeds to work on a county road, engine light comes on, service light comes on. There was a tapping noise and reduced power. Luckily, there was a sports field parking lot that I could pull into to get out of traffic. We had the truck towed to our house through our roadside assistance program so that we could determine what to do. If we had not been able to pull off the road as quickly as we did, we probably would have been hit by the semi that was barreling behind us. The truck had reduced power.

Nov 3, 2025

- The engine failed in my 2019 Silverado 1500 6.2l. The truck is available for inspection. - The engine could have seized up while driving causing an accident at any time. - Yes, the dealer found metal shavings in the oil in addition to engine codes P0016 and P0017. - No, the dealer is the only one who has inspected the vehicle and components. - The check engine light came on and the engine was making a loud noises.

Nov 2, 2025

I was on my way to work and I stoped along the side of the road to help with a car accident. After helping the person and the ambulance arrived I went back to my truck. when I got in it everything was on but I noticed that it was quite and that’s when I realized the truck was not running anymore. I tried to turn it on and off but nothing happened besides all the dash stuff came on. It had been making a ticking noise but it would go away after a certain speed. After the engine would not turn on I had a friend that is a certified Chevy mechanic take a look and he told me the engine seized. It took 2-3x the torque to crank it over and when he was able to do that he found lots of metal shavings in the oil. I been out of a vehicle for almost 2 years now because of this issue.

engine Failure

Oct 31, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds and accelerating from a stop light, the vehicle operated under reduced power. The vehicle was sputtering and shuddering. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Action Number: EA25007 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with engine failure before reaching the bay. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 136,524.

The 6.2 Eco tech V8 is failing. Chevrolet new car of Lowell Massachusetts reports that motor needs to be torn down due to component failure. Also transmission is whining and will need replacement transmission shifts hard between gears and lunges forward while down shifting.

Oct 28, 2025

Lifter failure while driving on highway. Resulted in an immediate drop in speed taking me from 65 to 30 mph quickly, and having to cross three highway lanes of traffic in order to pull over. Lifter failures are well documented on the chevy silverado 1500 trucks with the 5.3V8 and the 6.2V8. Mine happened after the warranty period but there are many documented cases of owners having lifter failures at 3,000 miles.

Oct 28, 2025

while driving on 401 EAST the vehicle started to shake and the service ESC error code came on. This vehicle has had all service completed at GMC and had no issues. stopped at dealership and they ran diagnostic tests to report back the engine has failed and requires replacement. 6,2L L87 is all ready on recall replacement but this same engine is not covered even though same symptoms and diagnosis was determined by dealership.

after buying my truck from McFarland Chevorlet in Maysville KY i then moved to Cincinnati OH for work for work and is about a 1.5 hour away, all maintenance on the vehicle was done by a ASE certified shop and never went over the millage. I bought a extended warranty (200,000) as well but was voided as soon as i had a oil change done at Valvoline. my truck is at 85,000 miles and Chevy nor Premier Auto Insurance refuse to work with me to fix my truck. blown engine -- collapsed lifter on cylender 4 and was told it need a new crank shaft also ! a Chevy dealer near me quoated me $9,600 to fix this. have been trying to get ahold of the dealership i bought the truck from and they will not return my calls

Was driving on the highway, heard loud bang followed by a violent metal-on-metal slapping or knocking sound, and a sudden loss of engine power. Came to find it was crankshaft/connecting rod issue that is common in these vehicles. Have a picture of the broken rod and am waiting the get it repaired.

Oct 17, 2025

The transmission failed at 100,000 miles and the engine failed at 130,000 miles. Available for inspection. Yes the dealer confirmed both failures. No warnings. Immediate failure with engine light. Barely made it home with the transmission and the engine just stopped out of nowhere due to the dynamic fuel management system and oil consumption starvation.

Oct 16, 2025

engine shut off while driving ,and would not start again .upon inspection from gm dealer they stated the high pressure fuel pump. cam shaft and lifters need to be replaced ...there was no sign of failure prior to shut down

Sep 28, 2025

One day when headed out of town I stopped and got gas immediately once getting back on the highway my dash lit up like a Christmas tree, driving became uncomfortable as it sputtered when trying to give gas. I looked up a couple of the dash warning lights and it alluded to emission problems. I take the truck to the mechanic and he says that a head is cracked and the cam shaft needs to be repaired. This issue came out of nowhere, no prior issues as far as over heating or any dash lights on.

Sep 26, 2025

Purchased new and service maintained. At 65,000 miles all warning lights came on and truck began to misfire and lost power. Was taken to a garage where it was determined to have bad lifters and camshaft. Warranty just expired and now it needs a new engine

Component/System Failure and Availability for Inspection: While driving at 70 miles per hour on the interstate, the vehicle suffered a complete loss of oil pressure. The engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle simultaneously stopped operating. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection upon request. Safety Risk: This failure posed a severe risk to my safety and the safety of others. The sudden and complete loss of engine function at highway speed could easily have resulted in a serious accident. I was fortunate the incident occurred in an area that was not heavily populated at the time. Under different circumstances, this failure could have led to life-threatening consequences. Reproduction/Confirmation of the Problem: The issue has not yet been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, but the nature of the failure was sudden, significant, and left the vehicle inoperable. Inspection by Others: The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives, but it remains available for review. Warning Lamps/Messages/Symptoms: The only indicator prior to the failure was the immediate illumination of the engine light as the oil pressure dropped. This warning appeared at the same moment the vehicle lost power and stopped operating, leaving no opportunity to respond before the vehicle was disabled. Numerous comments and complaints with the same issue. Cust Satisfaction N212326940, does it take someone getting injured or dying before this administration makes the compnay do the right thing?

Reduced engine power message pops up while driving Check engine light stays on Codes that came up for Cadillac converter And transmission failure

Sep 9, 2025

While driving "No Oil pressure" alarm went off on my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. I had to immediately pull off to the side of the road, upon inspection the Oil cooler line separated at the crimp joint. This is the exact failure mode as described in "N212326940 - Customer Satisfaction Engine Oil Cooler Lines Detaching from Crimp". I have my truck at a GM dealership and they said my VIN is not included on the TSB. I also contacted GM Customer Service and was told the same that my VIN was not effected by this issue. My failure is the same mode as the documented issue, it has to be related to part quality issue as described on N212326940. The GM dealership is charging me $2000 to replace the line.

Component or system failed- Lifter in the 4th cylinder - 4 different times. Safety - Driving down the interstate, when the lifter goes out the truck slows down in limp mode and causes safety issues for myself and vehicles around me. Problem has been fixed 4 times, now waiting on a BRAND-NEW MOTOR that is on backorder for the foreseeable future. NO WARNINGS WHATSOEVER.

1. engine/transmission 2. while driving and acceleration vehicle stalls/hard shifts. The truck was running just fine one day then the next day upon starting the truck, Vehicle warnings for "service" Parking brake system and ECS started showing up and the truck started running rough, smoking exhaust, smelling, and the air conditioner went out. all at the time/day. 3. An independent service center provided a diagnosis that stated the "motor was shot" oil was getting passed the rings/seals and entering cylinder 6.

The vehicle, 2019 Silverado with 6.2 Liter engine only has 72,000 miles on it and when I was driving it, it slowed and went into a limp type mode. I could not go to speed. I had the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet Dealership, they indicated that the Camshaft is broken, at least one lifter and rod is bad. It is less expensive to replace engine. After research it appears this is a known issue and the manufacturer is not addressing it.

On 7/2/25, I was driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado on the highway and felt like there was a slight loss of power. I then noticed the Service parking brake, service ESC and the check engine light came on. I was going up a hill and had to move over to the far right lane and drive very slowly on the highway because of the engine problem. I was able to get off the highway without incident. I immediately took the truck to the Chevrolet dealer where I purchased it since it was very close. The dealership later inspected the truck and found the lifters had seized and caused damage to the camshaft. They said I would need a new engine at a cost of around $15,000. There were no warning signs or problems to indicate I was going to have an engine failure. The instrument warning lights came on when the engine problem occurred.

The vehicle was being driven to work when the engine lost power and several warning lights started cycling. The vehicle started shaking badly. The truck had 62,735 miles and was regularly serviced. We took it to Christian Brothers Automotive in Lubbock, TX. where they were able to find that that lifters failed causing $7,000.00 in damage. The shop that made the repairs said it is a common and known issue.

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT and I am having issues with the transmission bucking, hesitating, slipping. I am also having issues with the variable timing system. The variable timing system started acting up last year and when I took it to the dealer they replaced it and I was charged over $400 for it to be repaired. It happened again the beginning of this year and I took it back to the dealer. They told me the oil was dirty and suggested an oil change to fix the issue. I had the oil change done and now I am having the same problem again and have already had the oil changed. I need help since I am paying for a vehicle that is sitting in my driveway not being able to be used. There are 6 codes that have popped up including the variable timing system, cylinder 4 misfire, brake system, and I'm not exactly sure what the other ones are.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The ECU/Power train failed/ Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle's check engine light & traction light came on & the dash displayed multiple warning messages including reduced engine power & service ECS. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was traveling on the Interstate at 65 MPH in traffic in the far left passing lane. Engine power was reduced & I had to safely navigate the vehicle through traffic & multiple lanes to safely get the vehicle to the shoulder of the interstate & avoid causing any accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem was confirmed by my local Chevrolet dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was inspected by my local Chevrolet dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No there was not. The issue was attributed to a known manufacturing flaw on my vehicle. The wiring harness to the ECU was chaffed caused by rubbing on the frame, ECU bracket and/or A arm which in turn caused the issue. GM published a repair bulletin on this issue as well as the NHTSA.

During acceleration my vehicle had a whinning noise coming from near the transmission. It will buck and then when slowing down to a stop it bucks like being hit in the rear by another vehicle. It also shudders and makes the reduce engine power light come on.

Jul 2, 2025

Bought my truck with 29,000 miles on it. Was making a noise in rear tire. Took it in and it was the break calilper. Dealership wanted $1500 to replace it a week after I bought it. Stated that it was not covered. After a week of arguing, they did not charge me for it. Around 40,000 miles, every once in a while, it would feel like I was being rear ended when I came to a stop. It was not often, but around 55,000 miles, was more frequent. I took it to the dealershp at 62,000 miles and they said that it was a torque converter and would not be covered. Fixed it at a shop $2700. Lifter and Cam in the UP of michigan $5000. Oil lines at 110,000 $700. Torque converter again at 130000, and now lifter and camshaft again at 145,000 miles. I feel that GM should back their product. I had a 95 Chevy Silverado that I sold with 360,000 miles and never had any issues except fot transmission at 250,000 which is expected. I have all receipts showing proof

I have a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ. 5.3 Ecotrac 8 transmission with 89,000 miles. I bought it used and have had it 12 months, but only drove it 9 before it malfunctioned causing severe electrical & mechanical problems. I was driving the truck when the EPB, service engine, stabilitrac, ECBM warning lights came on, also driving over 43 miles an hour could cause a crash due brake failure This caused the emissions. transmission, & throttle to shut down Truck would not shift out of low gear. It would shift to park but did not recognize it was in park which kept the accessory on running down the battery, the tail gate would not open, and the information system shut down. I got sick and was in the hospital for 5 weeks, the truck was vandalized. The body repair shop took it to the chevrolet dealership in long beach to have it inspected. I did not tell them the vehicle had malfunctioned, throwing code U0101 and another code. I wanted the dealer to find the problem, the truck had not been driven since it was parked from the malfunction. All they came back with was I had a burnt cylinder and would be 9000 to fix due to maintenance, we maintained this truck changing the oil every 3000 miles with Castoroil synthetic oil, regularly checking and maintaining transmission, brake , all-fluids. Supposedly they ran a diagnostic, if they did they would have found these warnings and that main code U0101 would have showed up. When it happened Onstar ran the diagnostic and told me to take it immediately to a dealership. That dash should have lit up like a christmas tree that’s how many light were going off. The dealership never said a thing about these lights. Now i’ve read where Chevy had a problem with the EPB and only put them on this model from 2019 to 2022 because of this. I found on other sites recalls that included what happened to my truck, but not in your web sight. There was major design and manufacturing flaw with this model and year. I’ve read complaints on this.

On [XXX] I was driving in Beloit WI. Luckily I was in town and only doing 30-35mph and not another mile because I was headed for the interstate and we all would have died, because all of the sudden my parking brake locked on, my check engine light, ABS light, traction control light all came on and gray smoke just started pouring out my exhaust. Had it towed to my usual mechanic, it had 38 different codes on it, he worked on it for 8 hours and said it needed to go to a dealership. Towed it to a dealership, lifter on cylinder 5 went out and I was told "Yes camshaft is destroyed on that cylinder.. just need one. But tech would pull engine out and pull apart… or replace engine as does not include the fact that oil pump the timing chain the timing chain tensioner, the rod bearing the main bearings, and most importantly the camshaft bearings are still gonna be old and original to your engine. If you replaced just a camshaft. So later on down the road, something there could fail and more than likely the oil pump but again it’s just more money and more what else but if you are going to commit to that then you probably should commit to timing, chain, and oil pump, and everything else in which case now you start adding all the prices of that components in with labor on top of it, and an engine in my opinion would probably be better" and the engine comes with 100k mile warranty. I was driving on I85 North north of Atlanta merging off of I285 East in the second to the left hand lane when a light came on the dash saying "low oil pressure". I looked at the oil pressure gauge and it was at zero and there was black smoke from the back of the vehicle from oil hitting the exhaust. There was absolutely no indication of any issue at any time. I was able to coast into the emergency lane and get it shut off. Had I not been able to get pulled off the side of the road, it could have been disastrous as the vehicle had no power and I could have easily lost control and caused a multi vehicle accident. I had the vehicle towed to the closest Chevy dealership and have been informed that the oil cooler line completely separated and will cost $1,400.00 to repair. After receiving the diagnosis, I did a quick Google search and found that this is a fairly common issue, specifically with 2019 5.3L Chevy Silverados and should be, in my opinion, a safety recall.

Oil coolant line detached from the crimp. GM customer satisfaction program N212326940 is exactly what has happened and GM states it is not associated to my VIN so they can't (won't) do anything about it, even though the bulletin clearly indicates 2019 Silverado 1500 (new model). This occured as I was on the interstate. I pulled over as soon as the warning came up telling me to turn the vehicle off. I had to wait on the side of the interstate for several hours for a tow to a local mechanic shop. The mechanic diagnosed the issue and took photos and described the issue in writing. Prior to the incident there was no vehicle warning light that there was an issue, nor did I receive a letter warning of the issue. This catastrophic failure of the coolant line ejected oil, coating the undercarriage and passenger running board. The program bulletin states: Condition: Certain 2019 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (New Model) and GMC Sierra 1500 (New Model) vehicles, may have a condition in which the engine oil cooler (EOC) lines may leak and detach from the crimp joints. Exposure to cold temperature may also aggravate this condition. If the EOC lines leak, there may be an oil leak on the ground and if the EOC lines detach while operating the vehicle, there will be an immediate decrease in oil pressure. This will coincide with a warning on the driver information center display (“Oil Pressure Low Turn Vehicle Off”), along with warning chimes. If the customer continues to operate the vehicle, a loss of propulsion is possible. Correction: Dealers are to replace the engine oil cooler lines, oil, oil filter and refill the coolant.

May 3, 2025

I am writing to express my concern regarding a serious issue with my 2019 Chevy Silverado. Recently, while driving on the highway, I experienced a sudden loss of power. After diagnosing the issue, I was informed that my engine now requires a full replacement. This comes shortly after I had the camshaft replaced. My truck has only 80,000+ miles on it, which I believe is well below what should be expected for such a major failure. I have maintained the vehicle according to recommended service schedules and was surprised by this issue. Chevy has quoted me approximately $15,000 for the engine replacement, which is an extraordinary expense given the mileage and service history of the vehicle. I am seeking assistance in resolving this matter, as I believe this type of failure should not occur under normal conditions with such low mileage. Please let me know what steps can be taken or if there is any warranty or goodwill support available. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

I was passing a line of vehicles when a semi started over into my lane. I hit the gas, to avoid being hit by the truck. When I did warning light on my vehicle appeared on the display. I lost speed and immediately heard a loud knocking from the engine. I was on an open 4 lane highway and knew there was a dealer close by. I drove to the dealership, I left the vehicle running so they could hear it. The service tech told me they had seen "several" vehicles in with the same problem with the 5.3L . I left the vehicle there and was given a loaner. They told me the lifter had gone bad when I sped up quickly, and the camshaft was damaged. Further research by me has discovered a lot of vehicles have this same issue due to the active fuel management system. I chose not to pay Chevrolet $7000 to fix the engine, and currently have it in a private shop being repaired. GM 5.3 Liter V8 engines are known to have lifters lock up and bend push rods or destroy the camshaft resulting in engine replacement or rebuild. GM's fix is to replace the badly designed lifters with the exact same ones hoping that they will last past the warranty period thereby putting the entire cost of replacement on the owners. GM is well aware of the lifter issue but denies any responsibility. A simple google of 5.3 lifter failure will show thousands of complaints and experiences from various auto boards/pages. I own a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with a 6.2 liter L87 engine that is currently part of class action lawsuits. While driving down the highway with a car full of passengers at around 75-80mph, the vehicle shut down and would not accelerate. Frantically from the left lane, I crossed traffic almost causing an accident multiple times, to the shoulder of the highway. I then called for a tow truck to tow the vehicle as it would not start. The vehicle was towed three hours later, to the dealer (Quirk Chevrolet) and I walked off of the highway with the group of people. We then ubered home. The dealer diagnosed some mechanical issues that they said were the issue and “repaired” the vehicle. I picked the vehicle up three days later. Three weeks after that I was driving down the highway at about the same speed, 75-80mph, and my vehicle shut off again and was unresponsive. I had to then cut across three lanes of traffic frantically again and I coasted off of the highway due to an off ramp being right there and me acting quickly. The vehicle was unable to start for about 20 minutes and when I finally got it started it was making a loud audible knocking noise. I shut it down and called for a tow truck to the same dealer I had it serviced at a few week prior. I got a call the following day stating my vehicle needed an engine replacement and that I was most likely going to have to wait four months or more for it. They stated that they did not have any loaner vehicles available for me due to four other 6.2L engines needing replacement and if they had any available in the coming months, they would all be midsize SUVs. They stated that there was nothing they could due to get me a truck and only a midsize was offered which would not be any time soon anyways. I called three other Chevy dealers in the area and they stated that they all had between 3-5 seized 6.2L engines in the shop. There were no warning signs prior to this happening minus the repairs stated above and maybe a tic

I was getting on the freeway and all of a sudden a lost power and heard a loud clunking noise. I drove as fast as I could to get in a safe area. Afterwards I had my vehicle towed to my mechanic. They said engine failure and possibly transmission failure. They found metal shavings in the oil. I had changed it myself a few weeks prior. I then took it to a gm dealer. I was just outside my powertrain warranty at about 70k miles. They said the same thing. 24k to repair. I had to junk the vehicle.

While driving down the interstate on cruise control with my son, my truck dash board lit up with no warning, service esc, service parking brake, check engine light flashing. The cruise control was disengaged and did not function. The truck began to run very rough.small amounts of White smoke where visible from the tail pipe. Acceleration was very hesitant. The codes were scanned and showed misfire on cylinder 1 and a rough idle code. The repair shop confirmed I had two failed lifters that destroyed my camshaft and send metal throughout my engine. The repair was to replace the entire engine.

Vehicle engine began to stall and make clanking noises. The engine light came on. Was able to get to repair shop, which was very close. Repair shop was able to verify that problem was due to an engine "cylinder clapse". Four cylinders where repaired on side of the engine. They indicated that because of issues the GM 5.3L V8 engines have been having (possibly ceasing and causing accident and/or injury) the other four cylinders could possibly cause the same engine problem in the future.

Mar 21, 2025

I stopped at street light, Automatic Fuel Management system shut off engine. As engine restarted I experienced several dash lights came on. The engine light continued to blink and E light stayed on. Immediately went to dealer, 1 mile away. Computer said cylinder 5 was misfiring. Upon repair the lifter was bent and the cam shaft was damaged. Repairs were over $7,000.00. Truck had oil changes on time, all performed by the dealer. Truck had 67,000.00 miles. Repairs have been completed.

In 2024, I had the transmission replaced due it leaking transmission fluid. The transmission is sealed and there is no way to add fluid. This created an internal problem for the transmission. In January 2025, the engine made a loud pop noise and began performing horribly. My wife and I were on the interstate in a major city and surrounded by traffic. I drove it to the side of the interstate, immediately, and turned it off. I had to call someone to tow me back home(2 hours away) and my wife missed a very important doctor's appointment. Upon inspection, I found failed valve lifters, camshaft, pushrod and valve lifter tray. I managed to get everything replaced and the truck ran fine. March 2025, as I was driving on the highway, the truck stopped running. A message came on the dash screen saying, "Shift to Neutral and restart". I did and nothing happened. I had it towed to a shop. They told me it was a fuse block that was blown and the starter blew so they replaced them. It had struggled to start a couple of times and since I knew it had a new battery, a starter and fuse block made sense. I picked the truck up and in less than 24 hours, it happened again. It stopped running as I was driving and would not restart. The shop has checked GM tech forums and found where someone said to check if the motor would turn over manually. They have tried and failed. They, then, took the oil filter off and found metal shavings in the oil. Their diagnosis is that the engine bearing has seized and is causing the problems. My main issue is safety. My wife and I could have been seriously injured or killed and could have injured or killed someone else when the incident happened on the interstate. The same could've happened with just me in the vehicle or with our children. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms whatsoever before January 2025 for the engine. The truck doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it and I have kept up all of the maintenance.

Driving on [XXX] going 75mph near Columbus Ohio and saw white smoke coming out of the back end of my truck, then looked at dash and low oil pressure light and shut engine off warning lights were on. The engine was knocking and barely able to keep idling. I pulled to the berm then looked for nearest service station I could get to. I got off highway at next exit and put 4 quarts of oil in and drove to dealership just across the street and had mechanic look at truck. Upon inspection the mechanic determined that the oil coolant line had detached and there was no crimp on the hose. The engine had catastrophic failure. It is currently at dealership and they are ordering and installing new engine at a cost of $10,100.00 to us. This problem is a known defect to GM as it was first reported in January 2020. There was a recall in Alaska and Canada but not to the lower 48 states. The recall and numerous consumer complaints state that the hose crimp fails allowing the hose to separate and leak all engine oil which will cause engine damage. I come from a loyal GM family and have driven GM trucks and cars for 30 plus years but question the integrity and reliability of the brand now. I’ve seen complaints for this issue across the board of all different mileages. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

While traveling on the highway, engine started smoking and received warning of low oil pressure and to turn off the engine immediately. After mechanics investigated it was found that the oil cooling line had become uncrimped and fully detached resulting in low oil pressure and oil spraying out/ full draining. After researching this problem I found a NHTSA bulletin of a GM customer satisfaction program N212326940 where GM identified other VINs of the exact same year make and model having this issue. My vin was not included in this program and it is clear that GM underrepresented the number of vehicles that were affected. I was traveling at approximately 55mph at the time and this could have caused a serious accident due to GMs failure to identify all vehicles with this issue.

A few months ago the main oil cooling hose broke while I was on the freeway at 65 mph. I lost power to the vehicle and prompted to shift to neutral and to shut vehicle off. I did, after exiting the vehicle, I noticed all engine oil had been exited from motor. I thought the worst, new motor... Dwayne Lanes in Arlington had told me everything was fine, the had inspected the pan and looked to be no damage. Fast forward to last week, same issue repeats, minus the oil. Lost power on a 2 laned back road, extremely nerve racking! Now the dealership says I have metal debris in my oil, and a replacement is required. This is referenced as uncommon, but how could that be if there is a national shortage on the DFM/6.2L L87 V8. Purchased this vehicle with 18,000 miles, 2021. 2025 has 56,000 miles. I drive less than 9,000 per year. GM knows there is an issues, this is extremely dangerous and costly for the consumer. Hope DOGE looks in to this

The first thing that happened was the transmission, driveshaft, and rear end all blew at the same time while I was on the freeway. I had to swerve over and get out of the lane I was in and part of the driveshaft was still sitting in the road and cars were hitting it. There was no lights or anything until it happened. I got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and looked under the truck and there was a flame coming out of the rear end. I was able to extinguish it. It was inspected by delta transmission and they said that the rear end gave out first and damaged the rest. Not even 2 weeks later the second thing that happened was my engine gave out. I was driving on the freeway and the engine stalled out on me and I barely got off an exit before the truck stopped moving. I had to get it towed to a shop where they told me that the 2 rods on cylinders 1 and 7 had given out and that I needed a new engine. Again no warning lights or anything until it happened. This all happened in February of 2025.

Lifters froze up on #4 piston twice, both times going down the highway. Transmission would jerk after shifting gears, had bad torque converter shudder from 18 mph on up. Can’t pull trailer over 55mph without the whole cab vibrating like crazy

Feb 27, 2025

I was driving down the interstate stuck in slow moving traffic going 55 in a 70 in Jacksonville, FL. The Chevy suddenly lit up like a dang Christmas tree, parking brake service, check engine light, lane assist, and EVAC all flashing on the screen. Everytime I hit clear it like a new warning popped up. It started to drive super rough as in bumpy, loud and hesitant. I parked it, turned it off. Waited maybe an hour since I went to class, then came back to start it. Issue was still there. I took it to the dealership who seemed more interested in buying it than repairing it, they said it could be a number of things and estimated 10k even though they couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. They knew, they just wouldn’t say. Anywho, $100 later for a wacky diagnosis, I left to take the truck to an actual mechanic, who stated the lifters failed which caused a bent rod, which then damaged the cam shaft. We had just bought the truck outright for 27k three months prior and only driven it 1,500 miles. It was estimated to be anywhere between 12-15k to fix. Which we didn’t have that money and personal loans are too high so we traded it in and took a loss of 17k while being thankful that no one was injured driving this thing. The truck didn’t even have 80,000 miles yet. It was at 75,000 or 76,000. Truck engines shouldn’t fail that soon or fail at all and this is a common safety issue with this truck. If you have time, google the main issues for this truck and you’ll see several posts about people complaining about their truck doing the same and having to do a computer deletion to get the engine to function correctly to prevent this issue.

Feb 13, 2025

The valves, pistons, head gaskets are all affected and malfunctioned. They caused burning of the oil and loss of coolant. I took it to the sister dealership of where I purchased it to track the leak and they stated that it was fixed. Upon picking it up and driving it to my home and then right back to the dealership (apprx 12 miles) the truck was making big enought plumes to where it was making other operators pull over or cough. I was following behind the truck to video record and it was producing so much I could not see and had to close my vents to not cough. Our oil said 65 % but decided to check it and there was barely any oil present. Had it towed to the dealership and after picking it up it was only worse than before. This is a safety issue. An emissions issue also. Thank you.

While driving on the highway with my four year old with me the truck jerked and then triggered 3 lights on my dashboard, this made getting to a safe spot uneasy as it was jerking and sounded like it was reving up and down and overall sounded not good. Truck was towed to mechanic and was discovered the lifter failed due to the Active Fuel Management (AFM) or Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) in that engine model. That failure caused further engine damage to the cam shaft and needs an entire rebuild of the top part of the engine. There were no other indicators that this would happen until it did. I contacted Chevy and they are aware of the situation and offered "cost assistance" only if it was brought to a GM dealership. Given the engine had to be taken apart to figure out what was wrong they said the only way to get assistance was to have the garage put it back together and then tow it there and have their mechanics look at it to determine if they could cover part of it. This isn't a viable option to me seeing how there isn't a guarantee of any assistance and would potentially cost more long term.

Jan 29, 2025

I purchased this vehicle after my first 2019 chevrolet silverado trail boss's BCM dealined the vehicle after owning it 32 days. The vehicle with VIN [XXX] has had multiple engine failures causing the vehicle to be deadlined at the dealership for in excess of sixty days. The transmission is now failing as well. I am on my 2nd engine failure issue and the dealership refuses to acknowledge the problem. While under engine failure my vehicle would misfire causing the engine to stall and buck around like a wild horse. The electrical system on this vehicle is a complete catastrophe. The windows refuse to roll up once in the down position more often than not, the tailgate intermittently drops and closes on its own, the notifications on the dash always indicate the tailgate is down even when it is in the upright position, the lane change assist and parking detection intermittently work causing faulty detection when backing in/out of parking and changing lanes on the highway endangering the public, and all while these issues persist the "check engine" light never illuminates. Even when my truck had to be towed into the dealership the check engine light never came on. I have had this vehicle sine 43000 miles and now have 115000 miles and every oil change i have done(I am a shop owner and technician) has had metal shavings in the drained oil that has got past the filter due to the IMPROPER engine repair done by BEAVER CHEVROLET when my engine failed the last time. It is best practice to drain all the oil, remove engine from vehicle and replace the oil pump and pickup after cleaning the engine internally while disassembled to ensure no metal contaminants are inside the engine. Chevrolet simply replaces the broken components and doesn't do the proper procedure when an internal component fails, call any machine shop in any city across america and ask what the procedure is when a camshaft or bearing fails in a motor is. It is 100% not what chevrolet did for me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (

My complaint is regarding faulty oil lines that are known to be defective by GM/Chevy. The oil lines begin to leak in colder weather and according to discussion boards, have even been known to come off completely while at speed and purging all of the oil from the vehicle. This can result in the almost immediate seizure of the engine and loss of control of the vehicle.   GM/Chevy acknowledges there is a problem with these oil lines by their creation of a Customer Satisfaction Hotline around 2021 instead of doing a full recall. My 2019 chevy silverado 1500 is experiencing the exact same issues with the oil lines as stated by hundreds of other customers. I have contacted both GM and my local dealership and have been turned away advising my 2019 Silverado was not part of the right "build number" associated with the special coverage that they voluntarily created to avoid the full recall of all 2019 and possibly more model years with defective and dangerous oil lines. As reported previously, the oil lines are likely to begin to fail in colder weather which could make for more dangerous conditions should they fail completely and come off of the engine. Although GM states my vehicle is not part of the conditional coverage, my lines began to fail a few weeks ago as my temps dropped well below freezing.

I scheduled an appointment at David Stanley Chevrolet on the south side of Oklahoma City to have it checked. I explained what the issue was in detail because I have a back ground in engine repair. Also, I'd performed research on line looking for "technical service bulletins. What I found was a history of issues with this engine, (5.3), involving lifters sticking. I informed the young lady of what I'd found. I was called the next day and told that the technician could not "replicate" the issue and I could pick up my vehicular. Less than half a mile from the dealer, I tried to merge onto [XXX] when the engine began to shutter and miss. Thank God, I was able to avoid a rear end collation. I immediately returned to the dealer where the the problem was identified as a "stuck #1 lifter resulting in significant damage to the cam. I have subsequently had this vehicle back to the dealer three additional times trying to repair oil leaks resulting from these repairs. The engine cylinders failed with the lifting rods falling. Engine needs to be replaced at 59k miles on it

Jan 18, 2025

The engine at 108,000 had a lifter that failed. There were no prior warning signs before this happened. This caused the engine to lose power. As a result of the lifter failing this caused other internal damage to the engine. It was towed to a local dealer where I was told it was going to cost over $9000 dollars to repair. It has also had some hard shifting in the transmission as well and many other people have reported engine and transmission issues in these trucks. I had the truck repaired by a reputable shop in my area at the cost of $7000 dollars. It continues to have transmission issues that have not been able to be repaired as of this time.

On January 1, 2025, while driving, I heard a loud bang, after which the engine began to knock. I brought the vehicle to the dealership on January 2, 2025, where I was charged over $4,000 for diagnoses. On January 9, 2025, the dealership informed me that the camshaft had broken. The truck had 130,000 miles on it at the time of the incident. I have consistently had the oil changed every 5,000 miles. In my opinion, this damage occurred prematurely.

86,000 miles on the vehicle and transmission and oil leakingproblem

Jan 3, 2025

Coming home from work one morning, the truck all the sudden displayed lights across the dash saying no oil pressure shut off engine now. So I Immediately pulled over and got out to find oil was coming out of everywhere, my front bumper, the hood, underneath. I had it towed to local Chevrolet dealership and they contacted me today to tell me the oil line from the engine had came loose because of a clamp. So I looked up some problems because it was over $1000 to fix it and found there was a customer satisfaction issued through GM because of the same problems within my year and model truck. Are they in contacted GM to see if they would fix the problem and they told me because my model number was included in their customer satisfaction that they couldn’t fix it even though it was the same year and the same type of truck. So I asked them how I got my model number included and they told me I had to go through the national Highway safety.

Rupture of Oil Cooler Lines. NHTSA previously completed a safety field investigation. GM issued a bulletin to their dealerships (only). Has both safety and environmental impacts. Vehicle suddenly losses oil pressure and provides a warning light to turn engine off. This will strand the driver wherever and whenever it should occur. I have spoken with GM, they are aware of the problem, but will not recall for the problem. This scenario also exposes the environment to the sudden loss of oil to the ground and surrounding area.

The oil cooler lines on my 2019 Silverado 1500 disconnected at the crimp while I was driving. The vehicle has only a bit more than 30,000 miles. I checked online, I.e. various sites as well as nhtsa and found the GM Customer Satisfaction Program N192220080. In the pdf on your site dated June 22, 2021, it is stated that only 530 vehicles were affected. I believe that this problem is more widespread than GM is willing to admit. Fortunately I was not driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed where “ a potential loss of propulsion” could have resulted in a tragic outcome.

I have fan on in my truck for the heat/ac and it blows out of the wrong vent or if I have dial on high there is nothing coming out. When I’m walking away from the truck it will start making noises. Head lights are dim inside lights are dim. I can smell gas in my truck. Transmission jerks no power at all driving up a hill. I had a 2006 Chevy Silverado. I fell in love with it the first time I seen it. She had a v8 vortex motor in it. I don’t know why a person would put come up with a v6 to pull an 8000 lb truck!!! It takes forever to speed up! I was told to save gas, I seriously don’t think so!!! I put transmissions and engines together for 15 years at Toyota. I have a lot of respect for the Japanese people because they care about what they build. Chevy needs to hire some people from Toyota to help straighten them out. Can’t really give dates to many!

Cracked Engine. There was no warning. No indications prior to incident. Driving approximately 45/50 mph on road, out of NO WHERE a message appeared "Shift into NEUTRAL and SHUT OFF ENGINE" I coasted to the side of the of road, there was no power at all. I did as the message stated. Once I turned off the vehicle, it would not start. It has not been able to start since that time. I had to have the vehicle towed. First to my local mechanic who could not find anything and suggested to take to a dealer, I had to have it towed again. Thankfully other vehicles behind me were patient enough for me to get to the side of road. However, this could have caused a very serious accident. I have read other complaints online regarding the same issue. GM/CHEVY states there are not enough complaints of the issue but have had some. Does a death need to occur to get attention? I certainly hope not. The vehicle has been properly maintained. Chevy can not give a reason for this happening. My vehicle is over the warranty amount in mileage. Therefore I have to pay 30% of the cost for a new engine. I would not be as upset if there was something I did, but if it is properly maintained, why? No one can answer that question. All I get is "I understand". If they did, they would have done something sooner and they would cover this cost 100%.There has to be some defect or issue somewhere. They can not seem to give me an exact figure for the repair. Who knows what my out of pocket cost will be.

I was on my way to an important doctor appointment driving on the interstate in fairly heavy traffic. All at once with no warning my engine died and the transmission shifted itself into neutral. I was in the fast lane when the engine stopped. Fortunately I was able to make it over to the emergency lane. Otherwise I could have very likely have been hit by another driver. This was a very scary occurrence. I had it towed to the dealer and was told that my 6.2L engine was locked up. I have done my own oil changes for the past 55 years so I know for a fact that there was oil in the engine and it had be changed regularly. From what I have read on numerous other web sites this seems to be a common occurrence with these engines. I think there should be a factory recall on these engines immediately before someone is seriously injured or killed. Please look into this very serious problem.

Driving truck down road, suddenly alert on dashboard comes on that says “oil pressure low, shut off vehicle.” Turned into the parking lot, shut truck off. Noticed oil cooling line had come off the clamped side. Tried replacing it into clamp and replacing oil but engine would not turn over. Towed to shop. Had to replace entire engine. Noticed that other 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500s were recalled for same issue. Called to report to GMC—- they would not do anything about it since it was not part of the original recall. Please consider asking them to expand recall—-given that the recall reflects the exact issue we had with our 2019 Chevy.

I had an oil cooler line fail on the interstate, causing a sudden loss of oil pressure. Caused a great deal of smoke to the side and rear of vehicle as well as oil spilled beneath. I was fortunate to get off the road before an accident occurred. There was a related recall to this line in the past but covered only a small number of vehicles. It still seems to be a common occurrence according to several mechanics, vehicle owners, and tow truck drivers.

I am unsure why this organization has not made GM fix their lifter issues for their v8 engines. it is very common and has been around since the early 2000's especially with the 5.3-liter engine. my engine just had lifter failure at a little over 80,000 miles. this repair can cost up to 4000 to 12000 to fix depending on how bad the failure is. There are class action lawsuits on this issue. It's time to make GM pay up for customer losses. I am 5000 over my extended warranty, can't get a loaner from the dealership, haven't had my truck for almost over a month, spent 900 in car rentals so far. Again, this is a known problem, it needs to be addressed and fixed once for all. * Summary* Lifter failure Happened on the highway, lost almost complete power to my drive train abruptly. putting my safety and others safety at risk This is a very known and common problem with the dealerships, even the tow truck driver said must be your lifters before it was even at the deal, said he picks up 2-3 of these trucks a week with the issue. The component is at the dealership. diagnosed as failed lifters, still waiting for them to inspect the internal parts of the engine to see if it destroyed the internals with the failure. Warning lights came on at failure, and no symptoms beforehand.

Driving at normal speed, normal weather, and normal highway conditions my 2019 Chevy silverado 1500 suddenly, without any prior warning, became undrivable due to "No Oil Pressure". I had to pull over on the side of the highway where it stayed until the vehicle could be towed to a local auto mechanic. The mechanic informed me that the issue was due to an Engine Oil Cooler Line rupture; the same issue that's plaguing many other vehicles of my age and make. There is a recall: N212326940-01 as evidence. I don't understand why this recall hasn't been issued to others outside of Canada and Alaska, especially when this problem is happening at frequencies to cause a shortage of replacement parts in other parts of the U.S..

I was driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado and the low oil pressure light came on. I pulled over to find that my truck was leaking oil. I called a tow truck and had the tow truck take me to location that I bought the truck (25 miles away). While waiting for the tow truck I did research about what could be happening. While doing my research I found this recall by Chevy: [XXX] My truck was looked at and I was called the next day and informed that the issue was "oil cooler line crimps coming apart and leaking". To my dismay I was informed that my VIN was not part of this recall. I find this to be either very ironic or the recall needs to be expanded to include additional 2019 Chevy Silverado's. I have an email from the service manager; Dereck West, at Victory Chevy Milan Michigan, stating that the diagnosis was as follows: "inspected to find oil cooler line crimps coming apart and leaking. replaced oil cooler line assembly". Again, this seems to match the recall perfectly. I was advised by Chevy to file a complaint and retain all records related to this incident. I have tried contacting GM for additional support. I have been unsuccessful with getting any responses from GM customer support. Upon additional research I found many forums that describe the exact same issue that I have described above. Customers having to pay for an issue that matches identically to a recall because their VIN is not part of the recall. It is my opinion that this recall should be expanded to include additional VIN's for 2019 Chevy Silverado's. I am more than willing to provide any additional information that might be needed. I appreciate your time in advance and look forward to hearing from you. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Service brakes, Service parking brake, service ECM, etc. Motor started to bog down and major knocking from engine. Took to GMC dealership. They found issues with lifters and had to replace all lifters and camshaft. Also replaced faulty brake sensor. Get truck back and oil cooler hose or line came off and was leaking oil. 1 week after repairs. Take back to dealership for repairs. 2 weeks later went to start truck all electronics went haywire, lights flashing, all warning lights start going off again. Truck will not start. Let sit for 15 mins. Try starting and no electrical power at all. Truck will not shift out of park. Major issue. Sounds to be a common issue with 2019 Trail Boss. Only has 40,000 miles.

Oil cooling line failure at crimp joint. If oil line were to come apart all the oil would come out under the vehicle which could cause a vehicle to go out of control or vehicle surrounding this vehicle to go out of contoll. Plus it would destroy the engine. Independent service center confirmed the issue. Other than myself and the independent shop inspected it. The car was at the dealer and said it was normal oil consumption. They did not due their due diligence to determine the cause of the oil loss. The warning comes on the information screen saying to add oil. There was a Technical Service Bullentin (n212326940) issued by GM that expired on July 31, 2023 to address this specific issue with a NHTSA ID 10200186. The problem is GM states that my VIN number was not part of this correction. The TSB only pertained to a small specific group. In researching this it is a wide spread issue of failures for this specific part. My truck was at the dealer the summer of 2022 but because the cooling line leakage is at the front of the vehicle dripping right under the front bumper, almost 20 inches from the motor it never dawned on me that it was part of an oil loss issue from the cooling line. At the time it was in it was still under the 3 year, 36 month warranty. Which meant it would have been covered.

Jan 11, 2024

My truck recently started to leak oil onto my driveway so I took it to a local dealership to get it looked at. The service engineers diagnosed the problem as the Engine Oil Cooler line is detaching from the crimp causing oil to leak out. They also told me that there was a recall, see PDF attached, (#N212329640-01) that is associated with this problem. However, it only applies to my vehicle if it was manufactured in Canada and Alaska. My vehicle, I was told, was manufactured in Mexico. I brought it to the dealership and they told me this doesn't apply to my vehicles simply because of where my vehicle was manufactured. This is troubling information as the SAME issue that was part of a national recall is the SAME problem that is happening with my truck and could cause a major safety risk while driving, yet it is not part of the recall based off where it was manufactured. Specifically, the vehicle could be involved with "loss of propulsion" as stated in the original recall. This is too coincidental of an occurrence to simply ignore it which is why I wanted to file a complaint.

One of the oil cooler lines on this truck is leaking oil from the crimped area where the rubber hose connects to the metal part. The GM Authority website says the dealer should fix this at no cost to the vehicle owner be because it is a GM issue on 2019 Chevrolet Silverados and 2019 GN Sierras. I called them and the lady looked up my VIN and said my truck isn’t included in this issue, but clearly, it is. The description of the issue on their website is the exact description of my truck and the issue of the leaking oil cooler line in the crimped area.

Discussing this with the mechanic (Sullivan Tire), this malfunction has been confirmed by a GMC certified dealer and service shop (McLaughlin Chevrolet) that there are several other Chevrolet/GMC vehicles that GMC technicians and third-party technicians that are reporting have had the same mechanical failure in the engine. I am unaware if this has been inspected by the manufacturer. It has only been inspected by third-party technicians at Sullivan Tire in Bridgewater, MA. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

The wiring harness of the vehicle was placed too close to the frame and began wearing the wires down until they broke. Once this happened, the vehicle turned off while driving and would not restart for a few minutes. The vehicle would turn off repeatedly every few minutes leaving me stranded in the middle of the street until I could get the truck to turn off and restart. There was no warning on when the engine would shut off, it just happened randomly while driving and while in park.

So my Silverado is having the same issues as many other Silverado owners. I originally had the vehicle in for service on a transmission issue, which is also another problem these vehicles are having. As for the engine issue I have experienced the vehicle stalling out after running rough, primarily after the vehicle has been running for a while. In addition, there are times when I am driving at highway speeds and the vehicle seems to shudder and shake. I thought OK maybe it's the wheel balance or alignment so I took it in for the wheel balance and the alignment and it still is doing the same thing. So at this point I had the spark plugs, wires and coil packs replaced. Still having the same issue. In addition to this I had the vehicle in for first time transmission hard shifting at around 20k miles. The technician took the vehicle for a drive and stated that there was an issue and that the computer reset should eliminate the problem. It didn't. So I dealt with this multiple times, bringing the vehicle to service for diagnosis and even filing a claim with GM. The vehicle is still experiencing these problems with the hard shifting. I had the recommended maintenance performed on the vehicle which included fluid replacement without a resolution to the issue. I have completely lost confidence in the GM products and their service technicians as they've been unable to repair the vehicle to proper running order. This will be my last GM product, and that says a lot coming from a GM family member. Sad that quality has significantly gone downhill.

Monday May 15th, 2023 while driving a warning STATING OIL PRESSURE LOW TURN OFF VEHICLE message flashes . Truck was towed bk to Chevy dealership. Dealership states there is a recall on engine oil cooler line but my VIN was not included. Chevy dearlership says this happens all the time lately with the same make and model. Picture shows zero damage to the crisp or oil line. It will just spontanously break off while driving.

In my 2019 Chevy Silverado, I experienced an oil leak in my garage. I have never had a leak since I purchased the new truck. I took it to the dealership, and they notified me that my engine oil cooler hose assembly was leaking and needed to be replaced. I asked if the truck was safe to drive and I was informed that it was. I was driving home from work when the warning chimes began, and a message on my screen said to pull over immediately due to a loss of oil pressure. I looked at my oil gauge which was already at zero. I pulled over as quickly and as safely as I could and shut off the engine. There was smoke coming from the engine compartment. I called my insurance and then a tow truck. The tow truck driver asked if this was a 2019 Silverado, I said yes, and he said that he has seen this before in other 2019 Silverado trucks. As well, the dealership also mentioned that they have seen this before.

While driving started making a ticking noise. Stopped the truck, to see if we could hear it again. Put truck in drive, check engine came one along with service park brake and esc warning lights; we were on a highway with minimal room to pull off. The truck started to shake at about 55 miles per hour. Made it home and took to Chevy dealer on Monday morning. Informed that the lifter went bad, in turn damaged the camshaft. After having the truck all week, total repairs topped out at $10,500. This is wrong especially when I searched internet and GM is well aware of this issue when no regards to safety of drivers.

The truck only has 68k highway miles on it with regular maintenance done by the dealer. My 2010 version of this truck lasted longer than this one. Gm is telling me I need a $7800.00 dollar repair that I am on the arm for. There was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I am aware of others having the same problem. My Truck has less than 35,000 miles and I've had Transmission issues. I've taken it to the Dealership and they don't have an answer to the problem other than changing the transmission fluid as that has resolved issues on other trucks. When I took it in, I would shift it out of park to drive it jerks, when I shift from drive to reverse, it jerks, when I shift from reverse back to drive it jerks. When I'm slowing down at a stop sign or stop light it shifts weird. I've been getting on a busy highway and accelerated and it downshifted so hard and kind of stalled, I swear took it at least 5 seconds to catch up and gain speed. I don't want to be on the HWY and my truck stall because no one knows what's going on or how to fix it.

Jul 25, 2022

Noticeable ticking noise started coming form the engine, upon further inspection it was the lifters that was causing the noise. DFM, AFM the truck is out of warranty at 76,000 mi. So i got a second opinion from another shop and got it fixed through them, not the dealer. My shop re surfaced the Heads and went a few steps further than the dealer would have done.

Thousands of these vehicles have Engine Lifter failure problems at early mileage and if your vehicle is out of warranty you have to pay. These are vehicles with the AFM 5.3 and many are failing. This is a well known problem and should be recalled soon. If your engine fails on the highway it can be extremely dangerous.

Failed lifter in engine due to GM’s terrible DFM and DOD system. Left me stranded 500 miles from home and 450 miles from my destination.

May 19, 2021

The transmission will sometimes hesitate/lag for a few seconds when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. This seems to occur only cold starts where the vehicle has sat for a long period, such as overnight. On the most recent occurrence, I was stopped at a stop sign on my road and began to turn left (northbound) on to the busy highway. While turning from the stop sign on to the highway, the vehicle vehicle hesitated mid-shift and I lost acceleration. After a few seconds, a loud clunk was then heard, the truck jerked - throwing me forward, and acceleration was restored. This delay resulted in a near-miss collision as there was an approaching vehicle headed southbound and I was stuck in their lane since my vehicle was not accelerating. Issue reported to Heartland Chevrolet (501 Rte 291, Liberty, MO 64068) to document and investigate the issue. Vehicle taken to dealer next day. After 3 days of service, the dealer service team could not reproduce the issue and escalated to regional GM engineer (Service Manager called him directly.). Engineer stated that hesitation is normal. Still an on-going issue; work around has been to let the vehicle idle longer before driving on a cold start. Sometimes you can "feel" the hesitation and know when to let off the gas pedal few a few seconds until the shift in to 2nd to avoid the vehicle throwing you forward, being able to have better "control" of the hesitation issue.

ON 12/26/2019 AT 05:40 AM, I GOT IN MY TRUCK (2019 SILVERADO LT ALLSTAR) AND STARTED THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED MULTIPLE WARNING MESSAGES ON MY DASH PANEL. THEY WERE "SERVICE ESC", "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE" "STEERING ASSIST REDUCED" AND TO DRIVE NO FASTER THAN 62 MPH. PRIOR TO PARKING THE NIGHT BEFORE ON 12/25/2019 I HAD NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. ON 12/26/2019 I WAS HEADING TO WORK BUT FOUND QUICKLY THAT THE BRAKE PEDEL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH VERY LIMITED OR BASICALLY NO BRAKING. THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT WITH NO APPARENT POWER ASSIST.

AT ABOUT 45 MPH ON A CITY STREET, I TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES BUT THE PEDAL FELL COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND ABOUT 98% OF THE BRAKING ABILITY WAS GONE. I WAS ABLE TO RIDE THE TRUCK UP ONTO THE SHOULDER TO SLOW DOWN AND STOP. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT SEEMED THAT THE BRAKES WERE WORKING AGAIN SO I TRIED TO MAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (ABOUT 1.5 MILES AWAY). ACCELERATING BACK UP TO SPEED WAS VERY JUMPY - ALMOST AS IF THE ENGINE WAS BEING STARVED. AFTER GETTING UP TO ABOUT 35 MPH, THE BRAKES ENGAGED INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT ME TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I PULLED BACK OVER AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE REST OF THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHILE STOPPED AND ENGINE IDLING, I OBSERVED A VERY NOTICEABLE KNOCK COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AND IS REPLACING THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER AND LIFTERS IN THE ENGINE. THIS FAILURE WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND I WAS LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT.
