Component or system failure: The engine valvetrain (camshaft and lifters) sustained severe internal damage, including camshaft scouring, confirmed during inspection and teardown by an authorized Chevrolet dealership. In addition, the rear differential was found to contain no gear oil when the fill plug was removed during inspection. The vehicle and components are currently at a Chevrolet service center and are available for inspection upon request. Safety risk: The vehicle experienced persistent drivetrain vibration and abnormal operation that worsened over time and ultimately rendered the vehicle non-operable. Internal engine damage and a rear differential without lubrication present a risk of sudden drivetrain failure, loss of propulsion, or loss of vehicle control, particularly at highway speeds. The vehicle is currently unsafe to operate. Problem confirmed: Yes. Engine damage has been confirmed by the dealership during teardown. The absence of gear oil in the rear differential was directly observed during inspection. Inspections by others: Yes. The vehicle has been inspected by an authorized Chevrolet dealership and by third-party inspectors associated with the extended drivetrain warranty administrator. Two inspections have been completed, and a third inspection has been ordered. No repairs have been completed as of this report. Warning lamps or prior symptoms: Beginning around approximately 21,000 miles (2022), the vehicle developed drivetrain vibration. The vehicle was taken to a Chevrolet dealership at that time, but the cause was not identified or corrected. No warning lamps or messages are recalled.

This truck has been very jerky when shifting. Transmission issue plus engine had valves done but still is a problem mostly jerky really bad to the point seat belt is a good thing.

Dec 10, 2025

The vehicle was shifting hard and eratically on the highway. All dashboard lights came on including the ESC failure warning. A misfire in cylinder 2 occurred without any warning lights causing the vehicle engine to stop running on a highway. The mechanic repair shop did a disgnostic evaluation and reported a catastrophic engine failure from cylinder 2. The engine does not run and requires full replacement. The vehicle has only 80,000 miles.

Purchased Truck in 2019 - 2 weeks after purchase the truck gave a Code and started to stall while in motion. We took into dealership and they did a complete review. They discovered and documented the following: Removed transmission fluid pump and disassembled to inspect- found a large piece of manufacturing metal flashing - that got stuck in valve bore preventing full movement etc. we kept up on all of our maintenance oil changes. We had the transmission flushed just near the end of the warranty as they recommended it. Shortly after, we started experiencing the same issue. Per the dealership, no recalls for this. The power would completely shut down while driving. Took to dealerships , now telling us we need new transmission $12,000 and is the reason for the power shutting down. They are saying GM will offer us $2,000. We feel this is all due to the flushing and maybe having particles from the flushing,

My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L engine developed a severe tick, misfire, and rough idle at only 93,000 miles. This was diagnosed as a collapsed AFM lifter on Cylinder 2. GM 5.3L AFM lifter failure is extremely common in these trucks and causes sudden loss of power, misfires, and unsafe driving conditions. This is a known widespread defect, yet GM has not issued a recall. The failure happened without warning and required major engine disassembly. This should be investigated as a safety and reliability issue.

The 8-speed transmission has been a problem from day 1 of owning this truck. It has a bad vibration, slips into gear and hard shifts. I have maintained this truck to the fullest and have done all service to the fluids as requested by the manufacturer. I have never pulled a trailer, and I want The NTHSA to make all Chevrolet products that have this 8-speed transmission recalled. GM should make this right. These vehicles aren't cheap.

Nov 23, 2025

The transmission consistently fails to shift properly, hanging between Drive and Overdrive. The dealership initially diagnosed the issue as a faulty torque converter & lines, then a tow/haul switch, and replaced it; however, the failure persists. The transmission now requires full replacement. I believe this is a known manufacturing defect present prior to the vehicle's release. Additionally, the lifetime powertrain warranty originally attached to the vehicle has been removed from GM's records. This hesitation causes unpredictable acceleration and loss of power, creating a significant safety hazard when merging onto highways or navigating heavy traffic. It is available for inspection upon request.

During the first transfer case fluid service on a 2019 light-duty 4WD truck equipped with an Autotrac two-speed transfer case, the drained fluid was bright red and consistent with automatic transmission fluid rather than the required GM Auto-Trak II blue/green fluid. The transfer case had never been serviced since new, so the fluid appeared to be the original factory fill. Before the discovery, the vehicle occasionally hesitated when shifting between drive modes and sometimes felt as if the system was binding or briefly locking up during transitions between 2WD, Auto, and 4WD modes. These symptoms were intermittent and no warning lights appeared. Using the wrong fluid in this type of transfer case can affect clutch-pack operation and may cause premature wear or loss of proper torque transfer. The system has now been refilled with the correct fluid, and the drained fluid is available for inspection. The issue has not yet been inspected or confirmed by a dealer.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 40 MPH, the vehicle jerked and vibrated abnormally. In addition, the RPMs fluctuated, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the transmission. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle briefly shuddered and jerked before returning to normal functionality. The vehicle returned to normal functionality, but the failure became a regular occurrence. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the torque converter. The contact was informed that the transmission fluid was flushed and replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The failure mileage was 47,200.

When driving normal speeds to work on a county road, engine light comes on, service light comes on. There was a tapping noise and reduced power. Luckily, there was a sports field parking lot that I could pull into to get out of traffic. We had the truck towed to our house through our roadside assistance program so that we could determine what to do. If we had not been able to pull off the road as quickly as we did, we probably would have been hit by the semi that was barreling behind us. The truck had reduced power.

Oct 31, 2025

Truck lost power and began to shake while on the interstate traveling at 75 mph. The check engine light came on. The screen also displayed a message to service the ESC system and the parking brake system. The truck has been maintained at the recommended service intervals. The dealership said the lifters needed to be replaced as well as the electronic brake control module. With a cost of over $8000. The truck has 108,000 miles on it.

GM know about the problem they are having with there L90 transmission. I did what they recommended. Had the dealer flush 3 times. It's only a temporary fix until the warranty runs out. That's why they changed there warranty to 5 years 60000. Now a few months later the shifting hard is back and now shuttering hard. I drive a lot of highway and a little nurvise of something happening. I only have 63000 miles on my 2019 Chevy Silverado.

Oct 17, 2025

The transmission failed at 100,000 miles and the engine failed at 130,000 miles. Available for inspection. Yes the dealer confirmed both failures. No warnings. Immediate failure with engine light. Barely made it home with the transmission and the engine just stopped out of nowhere due to the dynamic fuel management system and oil consumption starvation.

Oct 10, 2025

I have been hearing noise coming from the rear of the engine or front of the transmission. I took it to my local shop and they said it appears to be coming from the transmission and that I should take it to a Chevrolet shop because their is a service bulletin (PIP5996A) that describe what I am experiencing. They gave me a copy of the service bulletin and it covers many models and years of the Silverado. I called to make an appointment with Chevy and they said my Silverado is not associated with any recall, so this service bulletin does not apply. I don't understand how it does not apply when my make and year is listed on the service bulletin.

Passenger side lifters have failed, along with camshaft. The induced misfire caused a sudden and potentially unsafe jerking of the vehicle while on the expressway. The vehicle was on cruise control and running at 1,400rpms at the time of the failure. There were zero warning lights or vibrations/noises that could have indicated an imminent failure. Thankfully I was alone on the expressway at the time of the incident as the vehicle started bucking, jerking me out of my lane until I could regain control. Vehicle had 105,500 miles with all engine maintenance up to date prior to incident. Speed limit on this section of US31 is 75mph.

Aug 8, 2025

The valve body for the transmission failed. While driving the vehicle transmission would shift violently. This would cause the truck to jerk forward a few times before engaging the next gear. At times it caused a slowed performance and could have caused an accident with another motor vehicle especially when traveling uphill. I brought the truck to a chevrolet dealership and they confirmed this issue. I also completed online forum and general searches through google which confirm this is an issue especially with the 4 cylinder and v6 engines. The check engine light came on when the issue first occurred. The issue happened a week after my catalytic converter was replaced under warranty in July 2025.

GM says my Vin was not part of the recalls, The Vin wasn't the problem,It was the Transmission!!! letter I sent to GM : Transmission Failure on 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Dear General Motors Customer Assistance, I am writing to formally express my concern regarding the complete failure of the 8L90 transmission in my 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT. I have been a loyal Chevrolet customer and have always trusted GM vehicles for their reliability and performance. However, the recent catastrophic failure of my transmission—resulting in both internal and external damage—has left me extremely disappointed and financially burdened. This vehicle, equipped with the 8-speed 8L90 transmission, began exhibiting harsh shifting, delayed acceleration, and shuddering well before the failure. Despite regular maintenance and proper care, the transmission ultimately failed and "blew up" both internally and externally, rendering the vehicle undrivable and in need of complete transmission replacement. Upon further research, I discovered that numerous owners of 2015–2019 GM vehicles with the 8L90 transmission have reported similar issues, and multiple class-action lawsuits have been filed citing systemic defects in this transmission design. Though no recall has been officially issued, the volume of complaints and the existence of internal Technical Service Bulletins (such as TSB 16-NA-019) suggest GM is aware of the ongoing problems associated with this transmission. Given these circumstances, I am requesting that General Motors stand behind its product and assist with the full cost of replacing the failed transmission. I am prepared to provide documentation including service records, a technician’s report on the failure, and photos of the damage if needed. Please let me know how GM intends to proceed with this request. I would appreciate a prompt and fair resolution to this matter. Sincerely, [XXX] VIN # [XXX] Current Mileage: 114850 INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 55

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The ECU/Power train failed/ Yes the vehicle is available for inspection. The vehicle's check engine light & traction light came on & the dash displayed multiple warning messages including reduced engine power & service ECS. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? I was traveling on the Interstate at 65 MPH in traffic in the far left passing lane. Engine power was reduced & I had to safely navigate the vehicle through traffic & multiple lanes to safely get the vehicle to the shoulder of the interstate & avoid causing any accidents. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem was confirmed by my local Chevrolet dealer. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? It was inspected by my local Chevrolet dealer. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No there was not. The issue was attributed to a known manufacturing flaw on my vehicle. The wiring harness to the ECU was chaffed caused by rubbing on the frame, ECU bracket and/or A arm which in turn caused the issue. GM published a repair bulletin on this issue as well as the NHTSA.

I am experiencing the exact details of N192272400 Rear Wheels Lock At Low Speed but for some reason my VIN isn’t associated with the recall! This is highly dangerous. It could cause a serious accident seen that I live on a main road. I don’t know where the vehicle locks up the rear brakes if I go over 5 miles an hour at random times. I believe 100% that it is exactly what is described in that recall which is a defective TCM that has a short circuit. Another issue that I have with his truck out of nowhere is a short circuit in my rear defroster that was sparking and smoking when I used it.

Bought my truck with 29,000 miles on it. Was making a noise in rear tire. Took it in and it was the break calilper. Dealership wanted $1500 to replace it a week after I bought it. Stated that it was not covered. After a week of arguing, they did not charge me for it. Around 40,000 miles, every once in a while, it would feel like I was being rear ended when I came to a stop. It was not often, but around 55,000 miles, was more frequent. I took it to the dealershp at 62,000 miles and they said that it was a torque converter and would not be covered. Fixed it at a shop $2700. Lifter and Cam in the UP of michigan $5000. Oil lines at 110,000 $700. Torque converter again at 130000, and now lifter and camshaft again at 145,000 miles. I feel that GM should back their product. I had a 95 Chevy Silverado that I sold with 360,000 miles and never had any issues except fot transmission at 250,000 which is expected. I have all receipts showing proof

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The 8-speed automatic transmission is experiencing a persistent shudder during normal driving conditions. The problem appears to stem from a failing torque converter and possibly the valve body, as diagnosed by a GM dealership. The dealership also found metal debris in the transmission fluid, indicating internal damage. The vehicle is currently available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The transmission shudder causes the vehicle to hesitate and lurch unexpectedly, especially during acceleration or gear shifts at highway speeds. This creates unpredictable vehicle behavior that could result in a loss of control, especially when merging, changing lanes, or driving in heavy traffic. It presents a significant safety concern for both the driver and others on the road. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a GM dealership. They recommended replacing the torque converter and valve body due to internal damage and fluid contamination. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? Yes, the vehicle has been inspected and diagnosed by a GM-authorized dealership. It has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No warning lamps or dashboard messages appeared. The issue began with a noticeable shuddering and harsh shifting during normal driving, which gradually worsened. Symptoms include rough gear changes, hesitation, and vibration, most noticeable between 25–55 mph under light acceleration. These symptoms began approximately 2 months ago and have become more frequent.

Shut down

May 31, 2025

Since I have owned this vehicle I have experienced erratic shifting, primarily when driving in traffic, and when the vehicle is downshifting to 1st or 2nd gear. It has occasionally occurred when traveling on the highway during an upshift, but this is rare. I have also experienced lurching when stopped, or creeping forward in anticipation of a turn. I can occur at any time, and under any type of conditions, hot or cold. It also has a tendency to shift harshly when shifting from park to reverse or from reverse to drive. I have expressed my concerns with my dealer, and it appears they are aware of the problem, and have told me that GM is also aware of the issue, but they dismiss it by way of saying it is normal. I have had the transmission fluid changed at the regular interval, but this has not cured the problem. Finally, GM is well aware of this issue, and is subject to class action lawsuit regarding these transmissions, and other owners have stated that they too have experienced this shifting issue. My concern is that this will eventually lead to a failure of the transmission and the drive components i.e., drive shaft, pinon gear, differential housing, anything connected to the transmission. If this failure occurs at highway speeds, a possible loss of control and crash could occur.

Truck has been making a clunking sound for over a year and has gotten worse. Recently took to Jim’s Transmission to have transmission evaluated. Have been told that transmission needs to have a rebuild or new transmission $4500-6000. The truck has just over 67000 miles on it. Understand that there are class action suits regarding Gm being aware of the flaw in the transmissions. I have contacted both Chevy dealer and GM via certified letter and GM via email, and received no response regarding a goodwill repair.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated while responding. The messages "Transmission Hot - Idle Engine" and "Service ESC" were displayed, and the Parking Brake system warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had progressively worsened. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a fee would be charged for diagnostic test and the repair. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

I was driving on the highway at a speed of around 65 miles an hour and I heard a loud noise and the truck did a hard jerk and slowed down abruptly I then had to struggle to get over to the shoulder as cars around me were moving at high speeds then I found out that it was the lifters that failed and I started doing research on this problem and it seems to be a problem that a lot of people are having with these trucks as well as transmission issues which I was having before this happened

May 8, 2025

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that on several occasions while shifting into drive, the transmission violently jerked into gear, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed, and the contact was advised that the transmission was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that weeks later, the tailgate failed to lower while depressing the button, and the rear-view camera image remained displayed on the screen while the vehicle was in drive(D) and being driven. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000.

Oil coolant line detached from the crimp. GM customer satisfaction program N212326940 is exactly what has happened and GM states it is not associated to my VIN so they can't (won't) do anything about it, even though the bulletin clearly indicates 2019 Silverado 1500 (new model). This occured as I was on the interstate. I pulled over as soon as the warning came up telling me to turn the vehicle off. I had to wait on the side of the interstate for several hours for a tow to a local mechanic shop. The mechanic diagnosed the issue and took photos and described the issue in writing. Prior to the incident there was no vehicle warning light that there was an issue, nor did I receive a letter warning of the issue. This catastrophic failure of the coolant line ejected oil, coating the undercarriage and passenger running board. The program bulletin states: Condition: Certain 2019 model year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (New Model) and GMC Sierra 1500 (New Model) vehicles, may have a condition in which the engine oil cooler (EOC) lines may leak and detach from the crimp joints. Exposure to cold temperature may also aggravate this condition. If the EOC lines leak, there may be an oil leak on the ground and if the EOC lines detach while operating the vehicle, there will be an immediate decrease in oil pressure. This will coincide with a warning on the driver information center display (“Oil Pressure Low Turn Vehicle Off”), along with warning chimes. If the customer continues to operate the vehicle, a loss of propulsion is possible. Correction: Dealers are to replace the engine oil cooler lines, oil, oil filter and refill the coolant.

Truck rev high without much acceleration Clunking noise when accelerating Hard shifting Shuttering

May 1, 2025

I was passing a line of vehicles when a semi started over into my lane. I hit the gas, to avoid being hit by the truck. When I did warning light on my vehicle appeared on the display. I lost speed and immediately heard a loud knocking from the engine. I was on an open 4 lane highway and knew there was a dealer close by. I drove to the dealership, I left the vehicle running so they could hear it. The service tech told me they had seen "several" vehicles in with the same problem with the 5.3L . I left the vehicle there and was given a loaner. They told me the lifter had gone bad when I sped up quickly, and the camshaft was damaged. Further research by me has discovered a lot of vehicles have this same issue due to the active fuel management system. I chose not to pay Chevrolet $7000 to fix the engine, and currently have it in a private shop being repaired. A less experienced driver may have slammed on the brakes or swerved and caused a major accident. My vehicle did slow down on its own, but I was able to keep control and safely maneuver to the right lane.

I was getting on the freeway and all of a sudden a lost power and heard a loud clunking noise. I drove as fast as I could to get in a safe area. Afterwards I had my vehicle towed to my mechanic. They said engine failure and possibly transmission failure. They found metal shavings in the oil. I had changed it myself a few weeks prior. I then took it to a gm dealer. I was just outside my powertrain warranty at about 70k miles. They said the same thing. 24k to repair. I had to junk the vehicle.

I was driving on the hwy at 70mph when the engine had a catastrophic failure. Several warning lights appeared on the dash, loud metal clunking noises, vibration, and sudden slowing down of vehicle. I immediately pulled to side of road, turned truck off and called local dealership. Upon their inspection, they notified me a lifter bearing failed that would cause engine to seize and would require a new engine.

Chevy Silverado ZR2, Motor Locked up and needs to be replaced.

Mar 20, 2025

In 2024, I had the transmission replaced due it leaking transmission fluid. The transmission is sealed and there is no way to add fluid. This created an internal problem for the transmission. In January 2025, the engine made a loud pop noise and began performing horribly. My wife and I were on the interstate in a major city and surrounded by traffic. I drove it to the side of the interstate, immediately, and turned it off. I had to call someone to tow me back home(2 hours away) and my wife missed a very important doctor's appointment. Upon inspection, I found failed valve lifters, camshaft, pushrod and valve lifter tray. I managed to get everything replaced and the truck ran fine. March 2025, as I was driving on the highway, the truck stopped running. A message came on the dash screen saying, "Shift to Neutral and restart". I did and nothing happened. I had it towed to a shop. They told me it was a fuse block that was blown and the starter blew so they replaced them. It had struggled to start a couple of times and since I knew it had a new battery, a starter and fuse block made sense. I picked the truck up and in less than 24 hours, it happened again. It stopped running as I was driving and would not restart. The shop has checked GM tech forums and found where someone said to check if the motor would turn over manually. They have tried and failed. They, then, took the oil filter off and found metal shavings in the oil. Their diagnosis is that the engine bearing has seized and is causing the problems. My main issue is safety. My wife and I could have been seriously injured or killed and could have injured or killed someone else when the incident happened on the interstate. The same could've happened with just me in the vehicle or with our children. There were no warning lamps, messages or any symptoms whatsoever before January 2025 for the engine. The truck doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it and I have kept up all of the maintenance.

Hard shifting, shutter, jerk, hesitation feels like the motor is going to fall out. Haven't had the manufacturer look at it, but it's very annoying and embarrassing.

Mar 17, 2025

Right after our warranty expired which was 36,000, the transmission started harsh or rough shifting , delayed acceleration, sudden lurching, and shuddering , hesitating to the point that you don’t think the truck is going to move or someone hit us from behind. It’s horrible. Every time you drive you pray the truck is going to get you there safely. We tried to take the truck to the Chevrolet dealer and they insisted there was no recall and it was no longer under warranty. Then we took to a private place and had transmission fluid flushed which made it worse. We are waiting patiently for a recall because we can’t afford a transmission.

My transmission keeps shuttering during passing gear around 50-55 mph. It causes my truck to slow down drastically. It's always a knee jerk. I've serviced my transmission around 40 to 50k miles.

The first thing that happened was the transmission, driveshaft, and rear end all blew at the same time while I was on the freeway. I had to swerve over and get out of the lane I was in and part of the driveshaft was still sitting in the road and cars were hitting it. There was no lights or anything until it happened. I got out of the passenger side of the vehicle and looked under the truck and there was a flame coming out of the rear end. I was able to extinguish it. It was inspected by delta transmission and they said that the rear end gave out first and damaged the rest. Not even 2 weeks later the second thing that happened was my engine gave out. I was driving on the freeway and the engine stalled out on me and I barely got off an exit before the truck stopped moving. I had to get it towed to a shop where they told me that the 2 rods on cylinders 1 and 7 had given out and that I needed a new engine. Again no warning lights or anything until it happened. This all happened in February of 2025.

Feb 27, 2025

I was driving down the interstate stuck in slow moving traffic going 55 in a 70 in Jacksonville, FL. The Chevy suddenly lit up like a dang Christmas tree, parking brake service, check engine light, lane assist, and EVAC all flashing on the screen. Everytime I hit clear it like a new warning popped up. It started to drive super rough as in bumpy, loud and hesitant. I parked it, turned it off. Waited maybe an hour since I went to class, then came back to start it. Issue was still there. I took it to the dealership who seemed more interested in buying it than repairing it, they said it could be a number of things and estimated 10k even though they couldn’t tell me exactly what was wrong. They knew, they just wouldn’t say. Anywho, $100 later for a wacky diagnosis, I left to take the truck to an actual mechanic, who stated the lifters failed which caused a bent rod, which then damaged the cam shaft. We had just bought the truck outright for 27k three months prior and only driven it 1,500 miles. It was estimated to be anywhere between 12-15k to fix. Which we didn’t have that money and personal loans are too high so we traded it in and took a loss of 17k while being thankful that no one was injured driving this thing. The truck didn’t even have 80,000 miles yet. It was at 75,000 or 76,000. Truck engines shouldn’t fail that soon or fail at all and this is a common safety issue with this truck. If you have time, google the main issues for this truck and you’ll see several posts about people complaining about their truck doing the same and having to do a computer deletion to get the engine to function correctly to prevent this issue.

This truck has very low miles (22,900) and has broken down on me 4 different times over several years. It will randomly slam into 2nd gear and I will almost loose control as the rear wheels will almost lock up. Then the vehicle will barely move even at WOT. This has caused me to almost be in accidents and is very unsafe. GM knows there is several issues with this 8 speed transmission and cannot resolve it. I am afraid to be in an accident because this thing is so unreliable in it's operation. GM needs to be forced to address this issue. There are multiple TSBs on this transmission that claim to be collecting data and investigating the cause of issues dating back to 2020. Time for a repair!

Feb 14, 2025

I noticed up on start up a warning light comes on & display says brake system failure 62 MPH then goes away. I have been reading numerous other reviews online that they are experiencing the same issue. 2nd problem is when I bought the vehicle I noticed numerous oil spots on the tailgate, I asked a GM representative & they said it was road grime, but I noticed the rear pinon is leaking, so it's been leaking since I bought the truck & the dealership either doesn't know it's a known issue or they didn't want to come out & say it.

While driving on the highway with my four year old with me the truck jerked and then triggered 3 lights on my dashboard, this made getting to a safe spot uneasy as it was jerking and sounded like it was reving up and down and overall sounded not good. Truck was towed to mechanic and was discovered the lifter failed due to the Active Fuel Management (AFM) or Dynamic Fuel Management (DFM) in that engine model. That failure caused further engine damage to the cam shaft and needs an entire rebuild of the top part of the engine. There were no other indicators that this would happen until it did. I contacted Chevy and they are aware of the situation and offered "cost assistance" only if it was brought to a GM dealership. Given the engine had to be taken apart to figure out what was wrong they said the only way to get assistance was to have the garage put it back together and then tow it there and have their mechanics look at it to determine if they could cover part of it. This isn't a viable option to me seeing how there isn't a guarantee of any assistance and would potentially cost more long term.

I purchased this vehicle after my first 2019 chevrolet silverado trail boss's BCM dealined the vehicle after owning it 32 days. The vehicle with VIN [XXX] has had multiple engine failures causing the vehicle to be deadlined at the dealership for in excess of sixty days. The transmission is now failing as well. I am on my 2nd engine failure issue and the dealership refuses to acknowledge the problem. While under engine failure my vehicle would misfire causing the engine to stall and buck around like a wild horse. The electrical system on this vehicle is a complete catastrophe. The windows refuse to roll up once in the down position more often than not, the tailgate intermittently drops and closes on its own, the notifications on the dash always indicate the tailgate is down even when it is in the upright position, the lane change assist and parking detection intermittently work causing faulty detection when backing in/out of parking and changing lanes on the highway endangering the public, and all while these issues persist the "check engine" light never illuminates. Even when my truck had to be towed into the dealership the check engine light never came on. I have had this vehicle sine 43000 miles and now have 115000 miles and every oil change i have done(I am a shop owner and technician) has had metal shavings in the drained oil that has got past the filter due to the IMPROPER engine repair done by BEAVER CHEVROLET when my engine failed the last time. It is best practice to drain all the oil, remove engine from vehicle and replace the oil pump and pickup after cleaning the engine internally while disassembled to ensure no metal contaminants are inside the engine. Chevrolet simply replaces the broken components and doesn't do the proper procedure when an internal component fails, call any machine shop in any city across america and ask what the procedure is when a camshaft or bearing fails in a motor is. It is 100% not what chevrolet did for me. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (

86,000 miles on the vehicle and transmission and oil leakingproblem

Jan 14, 2025

I own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss that exhibits strange and persistent issues. A recurring engine code appears P0499, clears itself, and then reappears without consistent resolution. This affects the remote starter as the engine light will be engaged. Additionally, several service warnings flash momentarily and disappear, including: •Service Trailer Brake System •Brake System Failure – Top Speed Limited to 62 or 43 MPH •Parking Sensor Unavailable These warnings occur without warning and vanish too quickly to document fully. Despite multiple visits to the dealership, technicians have been unable to replicate or resolve the problem. This unpredictable behavior creates safety concerns, particularly regarding brake system reliability and sensor functionality. I and many others experiencing these same issues are concerned about a potential electrical or sensor issue impacting vehicle performance and safety.

My truck is at Hubler Cevrolet in Greenwood, IN with engine oil cooler lines leaking at 40,000 miles. GM Customer satisfaction program for some vin numbers expired in 2023 (N212326940). My vin was identified as being ineligible. Upon my own further research these trucks are known to have issues with leaking or rupturing oil cooler lines leading to catastrophic engine failure. I suspect that the manufacturer of the previously covered lines is the same although the part application number may be different. The manufacturer produced a defective oil cooler line that is previously know to fail especially in cold climates. I am Indianapolis, IN where temperatures have been below 0 at times and is frequently below freezing during winter. My lines starting leaking after the first freeze, about 4 weeks ago. I closely monitored the oil level until I was able to take it to the dealer for further inspection, it always remained above half on the dipstick. I wrongly assumed that the leak was from an overtightened oil drain screw from the previous oil change. I had my oil changed at XpressPro a few days before I took my truck to the dealer because their technician identified the leak was from the oil cooler lines. The tech at Xpresspro showed me a video he took on his personal cell phone showing the oil covering the engine oil cooler lines. The dealer is quoting 1400 for the repairs and they are not covered by powertrain warranty even though the engine would seize if they ruptured while driving. I reached out to GM customer service and spoke with Kaylee she advised me to contact Hubler to inquire about cost assistance and use my case number she gave for reference (XXX). I beleive this should be covered by a recall as it could have ruptured while driving causing the engine to lock and stop all forward momentum. transmission shudder and shakes at high speed and low speeds

Nov 26, 2024

When I bought the truck it only had 82 miles on it. After owning it for about a month it was shifting very hard at times. So hard it felt like I was being hit from behind. I complained to the dealership and they told me "that's normal for those". I learned how to drive it to avoid the problem. At 52000 miles I had the dealership do the routine transmission service that is due @ 45,000. The truck was fine when I took it in. When I got it back it was shifting extremely hard and erratically. It would downshift and accelerate by itself. On wet roads it would fishtail and I would almost lose control. It did this in traffic and I almost slid into oncoming traffic. While pulling away from a stop sign, the transmission slipped so bad the engine revved to 5000 rpm before catching. Then the check engine light came on. I took the truck to the dealership the next morning and they checked it out. They said it needs a new transmission. They also said it was my fault for going past the recommended service interval by 14%. Now they say a new transmission is going to cost $12,582.78. GM has agreed to pay half of that but they have known about these transmissions for years and they kept selling them anyway. My truck was not showing any unusual signs that the transmission was failing until I got it back from the dealership after they serviced it.

Nov 22, 2024

Driving down road transmission felt like it locked the wheels and stopped the vehicle briefly. Vehicle went into limp mode. Almost got rear ended. Going 55 mph to immediate stop. Have been having transmission shifting hard with truck since purchase. When accelerating @low speeds and it vibrates. Every time it has been brought up to service department they say it was normal. Brought vehicle in 3 months prior to this incident for harsh shifting and vibration and dealership stated it was due to deteriorating fluid. They serviced transmission and filter. Once incident happened again took vehicle to dealership they ended up keeping vehicle for 58 days waiting on parts to replace the valve body and speed sensors.

There is an issue with the transmission. My vehicle had started shifting erratically and became very clunky. At highway speeds, my truck will shutter and shift up and down for no reason while remaining at a constant speed. I took it to a certified mechanic and I was told it is a matter of time before my transmission completely fails. I have an invoice confirming these claims. This is a very wide spread issue with these 8-speed transmissions. I was told by the mechanic that the 2020-2024 models of the EXACT SAME TRUCK are now receiving recalls on the exact same transmission yet the 2019s are being overlooked.

-The transmission on this vehicle has begun to shift erratically with an audible thumping or clunks at normal speed. At highway speeds the vehicle will shudder and shake as the transmission shifts through the gears and periodically upon reaching cruising speeds. - Failure of the transmission is not out of the question. It could possibly lock up at any time while driving. - A reputable transmission service center reproduced and confirmed the complaint issues. - There have been no warning lights or messages pertaining to the issue. A vehicle diagnostic report confirmed no codes.

The engine oil cooler line detached from the crimp joints, causing an "oil pressure low turn vehicle off" alert. I was fortunately able to pull over immediately, and catch the 8 quarts of oil which dumped out. This resulted in $634 repair bill, and likely damage to the engine of the truck. Had I not been in a rural area and able to pull over immediately, I would have lost all power to drive and dumped that oil on the road, causing both safety hazard and environmental damage. This truck has been serviced by our local Chevy dealer who confirmed the problem with GM. This is a known problem to GM, the subject of their Customer Satisfaction program bulletin N192220080, and a recall in Canada and Alaska. Clearly the issue exists in areas other than Canada and Alaska, yet GM refused to cover any of the cost under our 60,000 mile warranty and has not issued a recall in other states.

Oct 11, 2024

1.What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The transmission system appears to have malfunctioned, specifically causing hard, sudden jerks when shifting and sluggish acceleration. While the issue is ongoing, the dealer has not confirmed any problem. The dealer has performed transmission flushes twice under 60k miles and recommended a third flush a few months back when I took it in for the jerking issues. The transmission is available for inspection upon request. 2.How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The hard, sudden jerks when shifting can feel as if the vehicle has been rear-ended, potentially causing a loss of control or distraction while driving, posing a risk to both the driver and others on the road. Sluggish acceleration could also impair the vehicle’s response in critical driving situations, such as merging or avoiding obstacles. 3.Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No, the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by the dealer. The dealer claims the behavior is considered “normal operation,” despite the symptoms being severe enough to concern the owner. 4.Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has only been inspected by the dealer, who did not find any issues with the transmission or other components. It has not been inspected by any other parties like the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives. 5.Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? There were no specific warning lamps or messages associated with the issue. The symptoms of hard jerks when shifting and sluggish acceleration appeared over time but have not been linked to any warning signals from the vehicle’s systems.

Transmission shudders when starting off and slams into gear when down shifting. Took truck to dealer while still under warranty and was told that GM states this is "normal operation" and refused to perform repair under warranty. Now that truck is out of warranty period, GM is saying that transmission needs work at a cost of $6000 for torque converter and valve body assembly GM is well aware of the issues they are having with their Transmissions and refuses to fix or update..

Was driving and the engine died, lost power steering, lost gauges (No speedometer, No Tachometer, Gauges quite working at all) and lost power brakes. Had to try and pull over and was not able to stop or steer easily. I almost hit several other cars and a guardrail trying to stop and steer to emergency lane. After I got stopped, I was not able to restart my vehicle, the starter just kept running but the engine would not start and gauges didn't work. I had my vehicle towed home and started trying to figure out what happened. Put my code reader on the truck and it showed 12 different codes including ECM/BCM failure. I started checking fuses and relays but everything was good. Finally found the problem at the ECM. There was a wiring harness that was not secured and was rubbing against the frame of the truck. One little yellow wire had rubbed through and shorted out which killed the whole truck. It looks like the manufacturer didn't secure the wiring harness in several spots which allowed the wiring harness to rub on the frame and the mount that holds the ECM. The mount for the ECM has started to rub through a different wiring harness and had started rubbing through wires in that harness but I caught it in time.

The truck has shifting issues. It down shiftshard causing the rearwheelks to lock up. vehicles have transmission issues such as shuddering and shaking in higher gears, and hesitation and lurching in lower gears. They also allege that GM told dealers to tell customers that these harsh shifts were normal

When I started driving, the transmission began to feel loose, like gears weren’t seated all the way. And then it began revving for no reason, and would eventually catch a gear as I let off the gas. I was driving with my kids and I was afraid that the gears would catch at a high rev rate and send me forward into other vehicles or pedestrians so I needed to end my drive asap. I was attempting to turn left at a light and the truck stopped going into any gear and I was stopped in the middle of the road. I had to push my car out of the way with the help of others.

While operating vehicle in stop and go traffic the transmission downshifts so hard that the rear end locks up. This abruptly stops the vehicle. This happens quite frequently. The vehicle has had multiple warranty "corrections" made to include a new torque converter and flywheel. The issue was not resolved. Appears to be no correction or applicable TSBS that fix the problem more of a bandaid. This is a wide known issue at this point.

The oil cooler lines on my 2019 Silverado 1500 disconnected at the crimp while I was driving. The vehicle has only a bit more than 30,000 miles. I checked online, I.e. various sites as well as nhtsa and found the GM Customer Satisfaction Program N192220080. In the pdf on your site dated June 22, 2021, it is stated that only 530 vehicles were affected. I believe that this problem is more widespread than GM is willing to admit. Fortunately I was not driving on the interstate at a high rate of speed where “ a potential loss of propulsion” could have resulted in a tragic outcome.

Cracked Engine. There was no warning. No indications prior to incident. Driving approximately 45/50 mph on road, out of NO WHERE a message appeared "Shift into NEUTRAL and SHUT OFF ENGINE" I coasted to the side of the of road, there was no power at all. I did as the message stated. Once I turned off the vehicle, it would not start. It has not been able to start since that time. I had to have the vehicle towed. First to my local mechanic who could not find anything and suggested to take to a dealer, I had to have it towed again. Thankfully other vehicles behind me were patient enough for me to get to the side of road. However, this could have caused a very serious accident. I have read other complaints online regarding the same issue. GM/CHEVY states there are not enough complaints of the issue but have had some. Does a death need to occur to get attention? I certainly hope not. The vehicle has been properly maintained. Chevy can not give a reason for this happening. My vehicle is over the warranty amount in mileage. Therefore I have to pay 30% of the cost for a new engine. I would not be as upset if there was something I did, but if it is properly maintained, why? No one can answer that question. All I get is "I understand". If they did, they would have done something sooner and they would cover this cost 100%.There has to be some defect or issue somewhere. They can not seem to give me an exact figure for the repair. Who knows what my out of pocket cost will be.

Engine blew the lifters while driving on the highway at 75MPH in Morning traffic. The truck immediately lost power and dropped from 75 down to 45 quickly without any input from me. Luckily the cars behind me were able to swerve before hitting me while i was pulling to the side. The lifter failures are a known issue with GM trucks with the 5.3 and 6.2 liter engines. The service advisor told me they do at least 12 of these per month. There are 100's of messages on several forums where people have the exact same issue. Some of them experiencing the failures with as low as 5K miles. GM's fix is to replace both banks of lifter if the engine has under 16K miles and only replace the one bank if the engine has over 16K miles. The FIX is not really a Fix since GM is putting the same lifter design right back in, leading to many people having the issue multiple times.

When I put the vehicle in reverse the camera goes fuzzy then cuts out completely. Then goes on/off repeatedly. Also having transmission issues, I put the vehicle in drive and doesn’t move until about 7 seconds after I let off the brake. Does a bad jerk! Shifting issue throughout the whole time I’m driving! I talked to a guy about his truck that has the same issues I’m having and he said the dealer needs to change the transmission soon. Really concerns me bc I feel like one day it will leave me stranded and the truck only has 48,000 miles

Apr 7, 2024

the truck is constantly running a shift to park message. It takes continuous attempts by pressing the brake and wiggling or changing gears to reverse, to drive back to park in order to shut off. Sometimes, it takes up to 10 minutes to stop erroring before I can exit the vehicle. this has started a couple years ago there has been no resolution by Chevrolet as to the reason or an option to fix it the truck will not allow me to leave and lock it while this is occuring so i have no option but to keep to shifting gears to make it stop.

Transmission slips, into 2nd i believe. Hard shifts, shuddering and shaking at intermittent speeds. Also missed shifts and dtc triggered in performance mode. Started happening last year, 2023, progressively becoming worse overtime. Last summer is when it didn't shift and set off multiple codes that had to be cleared to be able to operate normally. Dealership stated since codes had been cleared they couldn't do anything about it, so nothing was done. (I can still find the codes with my personal code tool)

I have several issues going on with my vehicle. The transmission keeps shuddering and the dealer says there is nothing wrong with it. I've documented over a dozen instances. It feels like you are going over rumble strips. Also the screen flickers bad making it difficult to see the backup camera. I have a dozen or more videos on this and the dealer says they can't reproduce the issue.

The truck has lifter failure leaving the Engine in Operatable at best you and you kids are stranded in 0% wether or broken down in the road. The other outcome is the Engine Explodes like a bomb when the internals let go from the failure. Lucky I was just left in the cold where I could have frozen to death. This happened at 70k miles but is happening to all the 19+ trucks with 5.3-6.2 the other problem is a transmission shudder making you barely able to keep control of the vehicle. You have had so many complaints here there have been several class action lawsuits yet nothing has been done why is Gm not held accountable?

Since approximately 30,000 miles I have been having issues with the transmission. I have taken my truck to x3 different dealerships. Tom Bell in Redlands, CA and Mark Christopher in Ontario, CA are the first two. Both of them have told me there wasn't a problem and reprommgrammed the computer for the trans. I tried working with the chevy advocate and they did nothing but give me the run around until my chevy warranty ran our at 60,000 miles. Now I am once again attempting to get the truck looked at by a chevy dealer and I have taken it today to Diamond Hills in Banning, CA. My extended warranty runs out in 3000 miles and they had me come in to have it evaluated and they said they wanted to service the transmission. So we will see what happens. I regularly take my truck to be serviced at firestone and my firestone rep has warned me my transmission is definitely going OUT! It is unfair how the everyday person if forced to eat the cost while chevy keeps making money and dodging their intentionally distributed problem trucks. Please advise on how to hold them accountable for their intentional malpractice. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

CEL for emissions evap circuit. Problem part is fuel pump control module. GM has recalled other vehicles over this part and has suggested its failed operation may cause the engine to stall due to the fuel pump shutting off. Currently my vehicles evap system is unable to vent fuel vapors to the engine which poses a safety risk if the pressure accumulates in the tank. I believe GM wasn’t thorough in the recall and only recalled what was absolutely necessary. The part is on back order which points to how common this item fails.

We are experiencing Vehicle shuddering and or shaking when accelerating and Jerking while shifting the vehicle. Originally discussed with dealership during routine oil change and thought that it was possible connection with the auto stop/start so no further action taken. Problem has worsened to now affect ability to tow trailer and or use vehicle. Vehicle has already had engine replacement at 41k due to engine oil coolant line failure. Current mileage at 86k. We do not feel comfortable driving the vehicle at this time so it is parked awaiting service appt with dealership.

When pulling off or slowing down, there's hesitation, jerking, and kicking or slamming going in or out of gear. Was passing a vehicle one day and it started going, then lost acceleration. I put it to the floor, still no acceleration. My Abs/Traction light came on, the rear end started like bouncing, or something with traction. As I pulled over, the abs/traction light went off. A few times we complained about it, they looked at it, but said they couldn't find nothing wrong with it. It's still happening and it is dangerous. I have a 17 yr old Autistic son, I drive him everyday to school, almost 4 hrs a day. We bought the truck cause we needed something reliable. But now that our warranty is up we can't afford to get it fixed. They made sure to let us know about our warranty was out. But at the time they looked at it, we had warranty. But when it came to get it looked at it would take days, and we needed a rental but they never had one, so we would have to wait till they had an opening. There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway. There is now a flat spot in a tire feel when going it slower speeds to be added to the vibration that happens later on obviously related. This is either from my understanding going to be axle or driveshaft it's going to get looked at today since there's nothing left underneath to repair. This has ruined a pair tires I bought last year for $1,500 in September and probably well on its way to ruining the tires that I've just put on last week for $2,400. There is a hesitation a lack of response and a vibration. As far as the electrical goes it makes this very weird buzzing sound very randomly it's only happened about four times it's loud and it can't be explained. Also sometimes the radio and the AC just turns on and there's no key in the car and I've had the door open for a few minutes. Sometimes after turning it off he'll turn everything off but turn it all back on again no key in. Sometimes I can turn the stereo off and it makes a whistling buzzing sound and it's not even on. As far as any light indicators on the dash for any of this no never had a one. I have completely taken care of this vehicle with the transmission flush and will changes and everything that it's supposed to have and I put a lot of money in it since I've had it in a year but I shouldn't have to on 2019 and it's still experiencing the same problems and I have plenty of documentation. As far as date of occurrence it's been continual and random since I bought the truck in June of 2023 from a local dealership called Lokey

Transmission failure at ~90700 miles. Transmission failed while driving home from work on US-95 on 26 July 2023, placing myself and other drivers at risk of accident and injury due to vehicle unable to shift gears at higher speeds. This problem was confirmed by Sullivan Tire mechanics, who also spoke with mechanics at McLaughlin Chevrolet, who have stated that they have received vehicles for repair and replacement for the same mechanical failure. I am currently waiting on insurance to inspect this issue. The malfunction indicator light (MIL) did come on the information center at the same time the problem appeared.

Vehicle started shuttering then almost slamming from gears and eventually gave out at 97k - Vehicle is still in the shop right now, as I have no other vehicle

Jul 6, 2023

The vehicle started jumping when switching gears or when accelerating from a stop. The drive shaft ended up separating from the transfer case, lost 3rd gear in the transmission, and blew the 8th cylinder in the motor. I am seeing that this is a common issue with the year, make, and model. Yet not all that were affected were actually included in the recall from 2020. We luckily were not in an accident from this incident however, this has cost us well over $10,000 in repairs. This issue needs to be addressed and GM needs to fix this problem. This could cause an accident.

The transmission jerks when shifting or just driving as you’re accelerating and as you’re at cruising speed, the transmission has a shutter that creates a vibration through the truck. My safety was put at risk as I did not know if the transmission was gonna fail as bad as the truck was shaking. The dealer reproduced the same problems that I was having. Said the fix was to change out transmission oil with the new transmission oil. Had to pay for a flush and filter at 56,000 miles. There were no warning lights coming on for the vehicle. Just the shattering of the transmission.

The engine was stuttering and running very poorly at higher speed. Luckily it did not cause a complete engine failure and I was able to safely exit the highway and make it to a garage. The repairs totaled over $5900. This is a known problem with the AFM system and continues to be ignored by GM. Under different circumstances this could be potentially a very dangerous situation.

My 8 speed transmission jumps out of gear randomly. Sometimes when I'm trying to pass on a 2 lane road at which time I am forced to hit the brakes and get back in line behind the vehicle I was trying to pass. Or after have stopped at a stop light or stop sign and I'm attempting to make a turn. At which time it will sometimes jump out of gear causing me to be stuck in front of oncoming traffic. It's getting worse and the GM dealer can't do anything about it.

So my Silverado is having the same issues as many other Silverado owners. I originally had the vehicle in for service on a transmission issue, which is also another problem these vehicles are having. As for the engine issue I have experienced the vehicle stalling out after running rough, primarily after the vehicle has been running for a while. In addition, there are times when I am driving at highway speeds and the vehicle seems to shudder and shake. I thought OK maybe it's the wheel balance or alignment so I took it in for the wheel balance and the alignment and it still is doing the same thing. So at this point I had the spark plugs, wires and coil packs replaced. Still having the same issue. In addition to this I had the vehicle in for first time transmission hard shifting at around 20k miles. The technician took the vehicle for a drive and stated that there was an issue and that the computer reset should eliminate the problem. It didn't. So I dealt with this multiple times, bringing the vehicle to service for diagnosis and even filing a claim with GM. The vehicle is still experiencing these problems with the hard shifting. I had the recommended maintenance performed on the vehicle which included fluid replacement without a resolution to the issue. I have completely lost confidence in the GM products and their service technicians as they've been unable to repair the vehicle to proper running order. This will be my last GM product, and that says a lot coming from a GM family member. Sad that quality has significantly gone downhill.

Currently own a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Texas Edition Z-71. Transmission continues to hard shift / lunge in forward and reverse. The transmission has popped so hard, on multiple occasions that I was convinced that someone had hit me from behind and had to pull over. The downshift is occasionally so hard that it that you jerk forward out of the seat. In October of 2022 the downshift at 15 mph made me lose control of my truck and utility trailer, sliding me into a small tree causing over two thousand dollars in damages. The suspension is also extremely shaky and any rough terrain makes the vehicle uncontrollable even at low speeds. I have almost had 3 additional accidents because of loss of control in rain and snow. The suspension is also noisy when you first drive with a grinding / rubbing sound. Vehicle has been in for service for these issues on more than one occasion and I have been told they cannot find anything wrong. I have had a transmission code in the past that eventually turned off. A quick internet search shows these all to be known issues and Chevrolet refuses to address of repair these major safety issues.

My transmission is always shifting hard and shuddering intermittently and is going in for inspection. Shifting hard could cause a problem for the driver it is very distracting. Yes, independent service center. No. No warning lamps came up and it has been going on just under a year now

Jun 1, 2023

*What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request?- drive transmission while driving at a low speed 25mph or less I stopped at a stop sign and preceded to go while accelerating the truck started to go and immediately stopped moving forward with a high rev on the RPMs I checked to see if maybe the truck died but it was still in drive I put my hazard lights on and shut the truck off thinking for some reason it shut off when starting again immediately did a high rev when trying to accelerate with the gas pedal now this happened for about 10min I a high traffic area I proceeded to push the truck out of the way with the help of some kind strangers, I waited about 20min till starting the truck again and regained drive i went back and forth momentarily only to have the same thing happen again. I had to leave my vehicle in my work parking lot and have my wife drive 1 1/2hr away to pick me up. *How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? - I had no indication on my dash of any check engine lights luckily I was only going a slow speed and was at a stop sign when the incident happened I obscured a heavily traffic area and I had to push the vehicle to a safe position. *Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? - I have yet to get this to a dealer, I currently had towed to my home. *Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? - No *Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? - No warning lamps This vehicle has 80,000 plus miles is used as a family/every other daily driver I have not hauled anything but a vintage trailer that's well within its towing capability I have no warning lamps to even indicate a problem is occurring at this time.

Transmission is slipping and can’t drive too dangerous. This is a VERY expensive repair for such a new type model. I have read several complaints about this model having transmission problems. I currently have 130000 miles on speedometer so the warranty is no longer good. RIDICULOUS so many 2019 models are having this issue and GM is not correcting the problem. Have owned several GM vehicles. This will be my LAST!!! [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Car is having issue since day one I bought it in 2019. Transmission is making a weird noise when shifting. It shakes when car is accelerating and in low RPM around 1.2 to 1.5 especially if car is driven with the load or up the hill. Car is making this stumping noise when car is decelerating like when attempting to stop on traffic light or stop sign, like the engine is going to go out so loud. At the dealership they told me if it’s not doing it constantly it’s normal. I will take it to the dealership this week again, it is really behaving bad lately . Car does have 53 thousand miles on it.

Gm is telling me I need a $7800.00 dollar repair that I am on the arm for. There was nothing out of the ordinary that could have caused this. I am aware of others having the same problem. It would not be safe if I was traveling faster.

When shifting to park and shut truck off a shift to park warning comes on dash and you can shut engine off or lock door if you try the horn starts honking. I took it to dealer they had it for 2 days said it showed no costs nor could they get it to happen so they say. It dose it almost every time you shut it off. They sent me home and the problem is the same.

I have had issues with the transmission of my 2019 Silverado RST since about 25,000 mile. I've had the vehicle in for service of the transmission multiple times and the issue is still unresolved. The vehicle will hard shift into second gear and downshift into different gears intermittently. I've followed through with all the maintenance that is required since I've owned this vehicle at the dealer level only. They've been the ones to recommend the maintenance items due to mileage. This includes the replacement of the trans fluid as well as the rear differential fluids. This problem is only getting worse now and it seems that GM is having dealers push these problems far enough without resolution that the owner would be outside the original power train warranty of the vehicle.

Aug 29, 2022

starting at about 10,000 miles I brought my vehicle in for service for a chirping noise from the left front axle area. I was told that they couldn't replicate the issue so I went for a drive with the service technician at the dealer. The noise was able to be replicated at that time and the dealer said that there is a service bulletin for that issue but they don't have a resolution for it from GM at that time. The noise is still evident and there is still no fix for it from the dealer. Not sure if this could become a safety issue further on down the road but with close to 60k miles on the vehicle now and the same noise still evident you'd think GM would have addressed it by now.

Aug 12, 2022

The truck at times and getting more frequent will at times jerk when downshifting and at times will be so bad it feels like you were rear ended. Had an issue 2 weeks ago this happened and the service engine light and anti skid light came on the interstate on ramp. The truck would not accelerate. I had to pull over, shut truck off for a couple minutes for computer to reset. Anti skid light went off but service engine light stayed on for several more days. Called dealership and service writer said down shift problems are normal, it's a learning feature. Truck has 52000 miles should have learned by now.

The contact's fiancé owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving 65 MPH, the vehicle independently stopped with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The transmission resumed normal operation soon after the failure before failing again. The contact later discovered that an Over-The-Air (OTA) software update was performed on the vehicle without the owner’s knowledge. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where another software update for the brake control module was performed. The failure occurred for a second time as the contact's fiancé was driving again at 65 MPH; however, he managed to drive the vehicle home despite the repeated failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and her fiancé was offered a gift certificate for his next oil change. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.

Hello, I am having issues with my 2019 Chevy Silverado's transmission. When I go to drive it, sometimes coming out of first gear I will have hard shifting. The shifting is to intense that I have to let off of the gas, so my truck and idol down. This is a big issue when I am in heavy traffic, with a rick of being hit by other cars traveling faster. I have told my dealership about this multiple times and the last time I talked with them about this. I had them flush my transmission, thinking that would help. After that was done, the service manger told me. The way my transmission is shift is standard GM operation. Sometimes I will have a warning lamp come up. The fault code is "lost communication with transmission".

Ticking sound when barely touching the gas. Hard shifts. Bluetooth connects and disconnects constantly. If GM released a defective vehicle, in which they are aware of the problems should be fixed. Not only for me but for the tons of thousands filing known major problems as well.

I bought the truck in Oct. of 2019 with 5000 miles on it. I have taken it to several service shops since then. I have told every one of those shops fro 2019 to present that there was something wrong with the truck. There has always been a hard clanking noise in the rear end. It always feels like it's in 4 wheel drive. It has never shifted right. When pulling a load it fells like it jumps in and out of gear. And when shifting from reverse to drive it clanks in the rear end. It feels like there is a brake dragging because when I let off the grass it will practically stop itself and it sound like a wheel cylinder is going out. Sometimes I have to push the start/stop engine button 2 to 3 times before the truck will shut off. The screen of the radio goes black sometimes. The rear tires don't turn when in 4 low. The tail gate doesn't lift like it's supposed to. The heater isn't right when you turn the defrost on it blows out at you feet. And when it remote started the heater doesn't always come on. All the reportes can be seen through the Chevrolet dealerships or OnStar. It has been taken to several different dealerships since 2019 when I bought it.

Driving on state highway and truck felt like it went into neutral. Pulled to side of road and put truck in park. Put truck in gear and nothing happened. Truck would not move from side of the road. Had truck towed to dealership and was told that the transmission was burnt out and had to be replaced. 2019 Chevy Trail Boss with 90k miles and the transmission fails. Unbelievable.

1st Time I was idling for 30+ minutes, truck was also making strange knocking noises, pulled on to a major highway and rear end locked up, cars were slamming on brakes, almost got killed. Took to shop left for 2 weeks, they said they could find no issues. I assumed they fixed problem, because there was no knocking any more. 3 weeks later, was idling for about 45minutes, pulled into traffic, dark, raining, rear en locked up. Almost got killed a second time. Took in for service and left truck. This needs to be investigated before someone gets killed!

Dec 8, 2021

Truck has excessive shuddering accelerating or decelerating. According to the service person at the dealer it is a problem with moisture and the factory fluid that the truck came with. Event in Order: -AutoStart, failure -Started with key -“Action Required” - “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive with Care” -“Service” - “Trailer Brake System” -“dash panel information” not available – Fuel Economy and oil life -“Traction Control light on” -Put truck in reverse, gear not engaged, no response -Put truck in drive, worked, but steering very difficult and made vehicle not safe to drive and/or operate. This has happened to me once before but not to this extent, last was when I was driving and thankfully I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. It would not start after repeated attempts but finally started after and functioned normally. These events had not check engine lights and when serviced, the mechanics said they didn’t see anything when scanned. OnStar diagnostics had no report when I had it active. I bought this truck less than 18,000 miles ago. Initially bought at 17,181 miles on Feb 22, 2021 and is now at 34,675 miles as of Oct 29, 2021. This is a safety concern as the steering fail can potentially lead to an accident if the truck can’t be controlled. Traction control failure can lead to the vehicle becoming stalled in a dangerous situation. Brake systems can lead to unwanted breaking and/or being unable to break. This truck is a danger to operate. I do have video but, upload does not support MP4 format.

Oct 28, 2021

Same issue I had with my 2017 Colorado. Shutter/shake when accelerating between 1 & 2. Issue started around 64k miles. Thought maybe it needed the same transmission flush to the newer fluid. Dealer called after 4 days of holding my vehicle (with no loaner or rental option) to tell me that the trans needed an "update" and that it would cost me over $500 since I was over warranty at 67k. There's already a bulletin for the Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement, which supposedly memics the same issue. However the dealership says "that's not the problem". I'm sure the same trans issue with hard gear shifts is probably related to this issue now. I haven't felt the hard gear shift in a while but it would do it randomly when accelarating out of my driveway.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving 10 MPH, the rear wheels inadvertently locked. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated he veered to the side of the road, shifted into park, and turned off the vehicle. The contact was able to restart the vehicle but waited about four hours for the wheels to unlock. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who informed the contact that they were unable to diagnose the vehicle. The contact stated the failure had been reoccurring while driving. The contact became aware of an unknown customer satisfaction program for the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who informed the contact that he would be responsible for the cost of the repair because the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.

Truck lunges forward sometimes. It will work properly most of the time and then after stoping , when you tramp on the gas it will hesitate then lunge forward. As I said most of the time it works properly. I consider this a very real hazzard, has been doing this for months. One day at my golf club while pulling into my parking spot,a tight fit, I had to back up to get into my spot. When I tried to go forward it had about a two second hesitation then squealed the tires. I have witnesses. My dealer says everything with the truck is normal after they inspected it . The internet is full of the same thing from other owners of the same truck.

On September 11 at approx. 1630 hrs. my wife and I were going out for dinner. I stopped at a stop light on a hill. Transmission in Drive, foot on the brake. Our truck suddenly started rolling backward. I looked at the dash, no warning lights, gauges still working, transmission in drive, I stood on the brake pedal, no effect, I put the transmission in park, no effect, I engaged the parking brake, no effect other than the parking brake warning light came on. We had rolled back approximately 50 feet. I looked in my rearview mirror and observed a car approaching. Luckily he/she saw my problem and stopped. Things suddenly started coming back to life and came to a gentle stop. When I looked in my mirror I was so close to the car behind me all I could see was his windshield, no hood. I moved the transmission from park to drive and we continued on. I have contacted the dealer and they are attempting to determine what happened. However, I am afraid this will happen to someone else who may not be as lucky as I was or that it may happen to me again. I pull a 5th wheel trailer with this truck.

Sep 12, 2021

My truck has a vibration when going down the highway at speeds of 70 mph. The dealer has done a transmission flush but still have the same issue. I am afraid that the driveshaft or the transmission may lock up while we are on the highway with the family.

Aug 9, 2021

When backing out of the driveway and shifting from Reverse to drive the transmission slows the engine before slamming into second gear. During the entire driver the transmission shakes before shifting into any gear. I took it to Patriot Chevy in Warminster, Pa on 8/2/21. They said they reset the computer module. I tested it immediately and nothing changed.

Jun 19, 2021

When shifting from reverse to drive the transmission makes a hard slamming sound. It also shutters when driving 70 mph. The dealer told me it’s normal.

May 23, 2021

I purchased this vehicle back on February and noted that the transmission is kicking hard from first to second gear shift at all times. Went to the dealer and told me tech cannot find nothing wrong and that this is normal as is a 9 shift transmission. When at a fast food full line this vehicle shifted so hard that I almost hit the car on front on me. Having cars all my life and be a mechanic, I can tell you this hard shifting is a safety issue.

May 19, 2021

The transmission will sometimes hesitate/lag for a few seconds when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear. This seems to occur only cold starts where the vehicle has sat for a long period, such as overnight. On the most recent occurrence, I was stopped at a stop sign on my road and began to turn left (northbound) on to the busy highway. While turning from the stop sign on to the highway, the vehicle vehicle hesitated mid-shift and I lost acceleration. After a few seconds, a loud clunk was then heard, the truck jerked - throwing me forward, and acceleration was restored. This delay resulted in a near-miss collision as there was an approaching vehicle headed southbound and I was stuck in their lane since my vehicle was not accelerating. Issue reported to Heartland Chevrolet (501 Rte 291, Liberty, MO 64068) to document and investigate the issue. Vehicle taken to dealer next day. After 3 days of service, the dealer service team could not reproduce the issue and escalated to regional GM engineer (Service Manager called him directly.). Engineer stated that hesitation is normal. Still an on-going issue; work around has been to let the vehicle idle longer before driving on a cold start. Sometimes you can "feel" the hesitation and know when to let off the gas pedal few a few seconds until the shift in to 2nd to avoid the vehicle throwing you forward, being able to have better "control" of the hesitation issue.

START OF THE DAY, WHEN SHIFTING INTO D (DRIVE GEAR) ; UPON ACCELERATING, THE TRUCKS TRANSMISSION DROPS OFF BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR AS IF IT WERE PAUSING FOR 1-2 SECONDS, THEN TRUCK SURGES FORWARD ISSUE STARTED THE DAY I DROVE OFF THE LOT. THOUGHT IT WAS TRUCK JUST WORKING OUT A GLITCH, BUT HAS ALWAYS PERSISTED. 2. ELECTRICAL ISSUE: POWER MIRRORS; WHEN POWER MIRRORS ARE FOLDING INWARD MIRRORS DO NOT CLOSE AT THE SAME TIME, STARTED THE DAY I DROVE OFF THE LOT. AS TIME HAS PASSED IT NOW HAS BECOME AN EVEN LARGER ISSUE, THE POWER MOTOR IN MIRROR RUNS CONTINUALLY AFTER IT HAS BEEN OPEN OR CLOSED AS WELL AS MIRROR TILTING WHEN IN REVERSE. VERY DISTRACTING. 3. COLLISION CENSOR: ISSUE STARTED WITHIN LAST 90 DAYS; I CAN BE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD/ HIGHWAY AT ANY TIME WITH NO OTHER OBSTACLES IN MY AREA, NOTHING AROUND MY TRUCK ON ANY OF THE FOUR SIDES,TRUCK WILL SOUND WARNING ALARM AS WELL AS THE DISPLAY IN THE DASH. I MAKE SURE ALL CENSORS ARE ALL CLEAN OF ANY DIRT-ICE-SNOW, VERY TROUBLING WHEN DRIVING AS IT MAKES ONE THINK THERE IS ON COMING OBSTACLES.

I WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH WITH CRUISE ACTIVATED AND I NOTICED A "SHUDDER" AND IT LASTED APPROXIMATELY 1 MINUTE. 10 MINUTES LATER IT HAPPENED ONCE AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON I-40 AND THE ROAD SURFACE IS LEVEL IN THE AREAS THAT I WAS DRIVING. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK NEW AND IT ONLY HAS 11,000 MILES ON IT. AFTER SEARCHING CAUSES OF THIS ISSUE ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT I WAS NOT ALONE AND THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON ALL MODELS OF GM CARS AND IT IS RELATED TO THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION. I HAVE MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE.

THIS TRUCK CONTINUES TO SLIP OUT OF GEAR WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. YESTERDAY, AS I ATTEMPTED TO CROSS A ROAD, THE TRANSMISSION WAS "HUNG UP" BETWEEN GEARS RESULTING IN A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO MOVE UNTIL TRAFFIC CAME MUCH CLOSER. IT STARTED FROM A STOP AND WHEN I TRIED TO CROSS THE ROAD IT WAS SHUDDERING BETWEEN GEARS. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON THIS VEHICLE. SOMETIMES IT'S A HARD SHIFT, OTHER TIMES IT SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND AS I PUSH THE ACCELERATOR, THE ENGINE REVS AND IT IS NOT IN A GEAR AND IT FINALLY GRINDS INTO A GEAR AND THEN THERE IS A JOLT WHEN IT SLAMS INTO THE GEAR AND THE TRUCK LURCHES FORWARD OR SOMETIMES IT'S ENOUGH TO SQUEAL THE TIRES.

I BOUGHT A 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500HD USED AND EVERY SINCE I'VE HAD IT, IT HAS A VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I'VE HAD IT BACK TO CHENOWETH FORD WHERE I BOUGHT IT TWICE NOW AND THEY SENT ME TO HARRY GREEN CHEVROLET DEALER AND NO ONE HAS A CLUE WHAT IS CAUSING IT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE AND HAVE FOUND ALOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE THAT THEY ARE CALLING THE "CHEVY SHAKE" WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2014 THROUGH 2020. I EVEN FOUND A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS ISSUE. THE TRUCK HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT AND I WOULD SAY THIS IS THE REASON THE PREVIOUS OWNER TRADED IT OFF. I WAS GIVEN A RENTAL CAR ONCE WHEN I TOOK IT IN FOR REPAIR BECAUSE THEY HAD IT UNTIL THE NEXT DAY. WHICH WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY SAID THAT THE VIBRATION WAS 90 PERCENT GONE BUT THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO GO AWAY COMPLETELY AND THAT THEY HAD 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS WORKING ON IT.

HAD MY TRUCK PARKED FOR 5 HOURS AT MY GRANDPARENTS WENT TO LEAVE AND HAD NO POWER STEERING AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON THE DASH WHEN I STARTED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. I CHECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT WAS FULL. SO I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT BACK UP AGAIN AND POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AGAIN AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT BUT I WAS ABLE TO STEER EASIER THAN BEFORE SO I DROVE HOME. ALSO AT THE SAME TIME THE SERVICE ESC MESSAGE CAME ON ALONG WITH THE LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE SECOND TIME RESTARTING THE TRUCK THE SERVICE ESC MESSAGE AND LIGHT WENT AWAY. THE RECALL THAT WAS TO FIX THIS ISSUE HAD ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED ON MY TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS WELL WHERE THE TRUCK WILL JERK INTO SECOND GEAR AND WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 2ND TO FIRST IT WILL JERK AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO BULLETINS ON THIS AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I ASKED THE SERVICE GUY THEN WHY DOES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT ROUGH IF THERE IS NOTHING WRONG? I QUOTE "THE NEW TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE TRUCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO SHIFT THAT WAY".

VEHICLE IS PRODUCING A HARD SHIFT BETWEEN 1ST & 2ND GEAR PRIMARILY ON COLD STARTS. MORE RECENTLY IS HAS BEEN DOING MORE THROUGH OUT THE DAY BUT NOT AS SERVE. THIS STARTED AROUND 7500 MILES, CURRENTLY AT 23,000+. THE VEHICLE HAS NOW BEEN TO THREE DEALERS (6+ ATTEMPTS) WITH NO RESOLUTION. ONE DEALER TOOK THE VALVE BODY OFF FOR INSPECTION AND CLEANING. OTHER DEALERS HAVE TRIED REPROGRAMMING. LAST ATTEMPT AT REPAIR WAS THE WEEK 8/25/2020 WITH NO RESOLUTION AS THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE (HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A WEEK). THE NEXT DAY I EXPERIENCED THE HARSH SHIFT TWICE IN ONE DAY. I ALSO EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE AT CONSTANT SPEEDS BETWEEN 45 & 60MPH. A BULLETIN CAME OUT FROM GM THE WEEK OF 8/25/2020 INDICATING NOTE TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AS THIS IS NORMAL. HOW IS THIS NORMAL WHEN IT SHIFT SO HARD IT THROUGH THE OCCUPANTS FORWARD AND REARWARD IN THE SEAT. HOW IS THIS SAFE FOR A YOUNG CHILD/TODDLER? THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE WHIPLASH IN YOUNGER CHILDREN. I HAVE IN FIRM BELIEVE THIS IS A CAUSE FOR MY NECK AND SHOULDER PAIN. AS AN ADDED NOTE: I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH THE GM EXECUTIVE RESOLUTION TEAM ON THIS ISSUE AND AGAIN NO RESOLUTION. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING AN ISSUE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE COMING ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY OFF AND THE KEY OUT OF THE VEHICLE. AGAIN DEALERS CANNOT DUPLICATE EVEN THOUGH ONE SERVICE REP WITNESSED IT WHILE DROPPING THE VEHICLE OFF FOR SERVICE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE PERFORMING BRAKE SERVICE AS THE BRAKE COULD ACTIVATE AND CAUSE A PINCH POINT. OVERALL I HAVE SEVERAL OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES REGARDING RADIO, DIC DISPLAY & CRUISE CONTROL. ONLY THE DIC DISPLAY HAS BEEN CORRECTED. I ALSO HAVE HAD LEAKING REAR SLIDER AND SQUEAKS IN THE FRONT LEFT DASH, RIGHT FRONT FLOORBOARD AND UPPER LH B-PILLAR. I ALSO HAD THE LEFT DASH PANEL REPLACED DUE TO A BROKEN TAB. VIDEO UPON REQUEST

DOCUMENT ID 4605342 STATES FIRST SHIFT OF THE DAY MAYBE HARSH. IT'S NOT JUST THE FIRST SHIFT OF THE DAY THAT IT HAPPENS. GM SERVICE BULLETIN 20-NA-102 AND 16-NA-361 SUGGEST THAT THE POWER TRAIN BEHAVIOR IS NORMAL. WHEN I RETURNED THE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE, THIS WAS THE DIAGNOSIS. DISCUSSION WITH THE SERVICE ADVISOR INDICATED THAT IN SOME INSTANCES OTHER ACTIONS ARE TAKEN TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION, BUT IT IS NEVER ELIMINATED. NOW CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM N192272400 HAS BEEN ISSUED DUE TO A FAULTY TCM WHICH CAUSES THE WHEELS TO LOCK UP. THIS SHOULD BE AN URGENT RECALL. THESE COMBINED CONDITIONS CREATE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND CORRECTED.

I WAS NOT GOING FAST, NOR IN TRAFFIC, BUT THE FACT REMAINS I HAD NO BRAKES, AGAIN! THIS ISSUE WAS 'FIXED' TWO MONTHS EARLIER IN ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE BRAKES. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I LOST THE ABILITY TO BRAKE, BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST TIME. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IN ITS ENTIRETY, I MEAN TAKEN OFF THE STREETS. IT'S NOT JUST THE DRIVERS OF THE TRUCK WHO ARE IN DANGER, OTHER DRIVERS, PEDESTRIANS, BICYCLISTS ARE ALSO IN DANGER. A FATALITY IS IMMINENT BUT I ASK THE NHTSA HOW MANY FATALITIES BEFORE THIS DANGEROUS VEHICLE IS TAKEN OFF THE ROAD? EVERY SAFETY DEVICE ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECALLED: AIRBAGS, SEATBELT, AND BRAKE SYSTEMS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO BRAKE ARE FAR GREATER THAN WHAT IS REPORTED HERE. PLEASE DON'T EXPECT GM TO FIX THIS ISSUE WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW THE CAUSE BEHIND THE PROBLEM TO BEGIN WITH! THIS PROBLEM OCCURS AFTER THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN ANY DISTANCE, BUT FAR ENOUGH TO SHIFT GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND WHEN THE AUTO ENGINE STOP IS DEACTIVATED MANUALLY OR AUTO ENGINE STOP DOESN'T ACTIVATE DUE TO DRIVING CONDITIONS. WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A COMPLETE STOP THE TORQUE CONVERTER LOCKS AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO LURCH FORWARD. THE PROBLEM IS NOTICEABLE IN TRAFFIC, BUT MORE OF A CONCERN WHILE PRECISION PARKING AND WHEN MOVING SLOWLY WITHOUT THROTTLE OR BRAKE BEING APPLIED. THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MY VEHICLE AND IN ALL SIMILAR LOANER VEHICLES THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAS ASSIGNED TO ME DURING SERVICE. SPECIFICALLY, WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE AND WHEN INCHING FORWARD TO A COMPLETE STOP WITHOUT BRAKE OR THROTTLE, THE VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LURCH FORWARD WITHOUT WARNING AND HIT THE SIGN, ANOTHER CAR, OR CURB. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT INTERMITTENT AND HAPPENS DURING EVERY DRIVE AND STOP.

WHEN PUTTING VEHICLE IN DRIVE FROM PARK IT JUMPS FORWARD EVEN WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE. WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE IT FEELS LIKE THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN GEAR AND THEN ENGAGES AND THEN THE VEHICLE MAKES A CLUNK NOISE AND ABRUPTLY JUMPS FORWARD. THERE IS ALSO A ISSUE WHEN GOING FROM FIRST TO SECOND WHEN ACCELERATING AND THE SAME WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. THE TRANSMISSION ON THIS VEHICLE IS VERY ERRATIC IN NATURE, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IT IS GOING TO DO EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE IT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE FIRST 100 MILES AND I NOW HAVE 8600 AND STILL HAPPENING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO REPEAT THE ISSUE EVEN AFTER LETTING IT SIT OUTSIDE IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER TO COOL EVERYTHING DOWN.

MERGING INTO 70 TO 80 MPH TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE I95 MY TRUCK STALLED ABRUPTLY TO 45 MPH AND AT 3000 RPM WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF THE LOWER GEAR IT WENT IT. I HAD TO MERGE QUICKLY TO THE EMERGENCY LANE WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC DOING ALL THEY COULD TO GET AROUND AROUND ME. HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED.

REPEATED ATTEMPTS BY JONES CHEVY, SUMTER SC, THEY HAVE NOT IDENTIFIED THE VIBRATION PROBLEMS WITH MY NEW VEHICLE. 22+ DAYS IN REPAIR, MULTIPLE VISITS, AND GM CLASSIFIES HARSH VIBRATION AS "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" AND CLOSED THE CASE, SAYING ITS FINAL. I HAVE CONTACTED GM CEO WITH CERTIFIED LETTER, DISCUSSED WITH EXEC. CUSTOMER SUPPORT TEAM, AND POSTED ON SOCIAL MEDIA TO FIND ANY SOLUTION. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORSE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. SO FAR DEALER HAS CONDUCTED TRANSMISSION DRAIN AND FLUSH PER A TSB, CHANGED TORQUE CONVERTER, EVALUATED VIBRATION WITH PICO SCOPE, AND PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND PERSIST. NOW TODAY IT'S BACK AT DEALER FOR A PROP SHAFT SWAP, FROM A NEW TRUCK. MY VEHICLE NOW HAS 6K MILES, AND PROBLEM STARTED AT 5K AFTER THE DRAIN AND FLUSH. GM SAYS THE VIBRATION IS NORMAL BECAUSE OF THE DFM, DYNAMIC FUEL MGMT. SYSTEM. I SAY BS. THEY ARE WRONG, AND NO VEHICLE SHOULD VIBRATE AT LOW OR HIGH SPEED TO THE POINT YOU FEEL IT THROUGH THE SEAT, STEERING COLUMN, STEERING WHEEL AND HARMONIC DISTORTION IN THE CAB. GM KNOWS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO ADMIT. NEXT STEP, ARBRITRATION? ANY FEEDBACK IS MUCH APPRECIATED TO SOLVE THIS VIBRATION ISSUE. GM - DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. REMEMBER THE IGNITION PROBLEM? THIS PROBLEM ISN'T GOING AWAY.

THE 8 SPEED TRANSMISSION SOMETIMES GETS HUNG IN BETWEEN GEARS OR SHIFTS VERY HARD AFTER IT INTERMITTENTLY COMES OUT OF GEAR. THIS WEEK, I WENT TO CROSS A ROAD ON DRY ROAD CONDITIONS AND THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF GEAR, THE ENGINE REVVED AND I WAS WITHOUT A GEAR FOR 2-3 SECONDS, CAUSING THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC TO BE UNCOMFORTABLY CLOSE BY THE TIME I REGAINED POWER AND WAS ABLE TO CROSS THE ROAD. THERE HAVE BEEN OTHER TIMES THAT I HAVE BEEN AT A STOP SIGN AND I GO TO TAKE OFF AND THE ENGINE REVS UP AS I HIT THE GAS BUT IT IS NOT IN GEAR AND THEN ABRUPTLY SNAPS INTO GEAR, CAUSING THE TIRES TO ACTUALLY SQUEAL. SO THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED WHEN THE TRUCK IS STILL MOVING AND ALSO WHEN IT WAS AT A STOP SIGN AND NOT IN MOTION,

ONGOING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN LOCAL DEALER AND CHEVY/GM EXECUTIVE SUPPORT TEAM TO FIX SHUDDER/VIBRATION IS NOT RESOLVED. CHEVY STATES "NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC" FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE, 2019 SILVERADO 5.3, 8 SPEED. I VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE. GM APPROVED TORQUE CONVERTS SWAP AND THEN PROBLEM GOT MUCH WORSE. THEY NOW SAY, RESOLUTION IS FINAL, THIS IN NORMAL! PLEADED WITH DEALERSHIP GENERAL MGR, TO CONTACT DISTRICT SUPERVISORS TO RE-EVALUATE. NOW THEY ARE GOING TO RUN PICO TEST AND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS AGAINST 2 NEW TRUCK ON THEIR LOT. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 6K MILES AND SHOULD SHAKE AND VIBRATE, BUT IT DOES AND GETTING WORSE. HARMONIC DISTORTION WITHIN CAB GETTING WORSE. SEEMS THE MORE MILES I PUT ON IT, THE WORSE IT GETS. AFTER DRAIN AND FLUSH OF TRANSMISSION, PER TSB, NOW ALSO HAD DELAYED SHIFTING, AND HAVING TO BRAKE HARD WHEN DOWNSHIFTING BECAUSE IT WANTS TO LURCH FORWARD. FRUSTRATING AT BEST, BUT SAFETY AND RISK OF INJURY ARE MY IMMEDIATE CONCERN. NEED HELP!

WAS DRIVING BACK HOME GOING AROUND 65MPH WHEN ALL OF THE SUDDEN IT DOWN SHIFTED AND EVENTUALLY LOSE POWER. I PULLED OVER RESTARTED TRUCK AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON AND WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF FIRST GEAR. I COULD NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT DAY AS IT WAS SUNDAY AND WOULD HAVE TO WAIT TILL MONDAY. MONDAY 10/14/19 CAME AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP HAS STILL NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM, THEY HAVE ALREADY REPLACED THE PC MODULE, AND VALVE BODY. NOW THEY ARE THEY SAYING THEY ARE GOING TO REPLACE THE WIRING HARNESS ON IT. I DO HAVE A GM CASE #9-564919828, HOWEVER THEY ARE NO HELP AND BASICALLY TELL ME THE SAME THING AS THE DEALERSHIP DOES. TRUCK HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE 10/14/19 AND HAVE STILL NOT FIXED IT, TODAYS DAY 12/05/19.

2019 CHEVY SILVERADO, 5.3L WITH 8-SPEED TRANSMISSION. EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT TRANSMISSION SHUDDER AT 32 - 44 MPH. VEHICLE SERVICED PER GM TS BULLETIN TO DRAIN AND FLUSH TRANSMISSION, REPLACE DEFECTIVE FLUID WITH ATF MOBILE 1 SYNTHETIC. THIS WAS DONE TWICE AND PROBLEM GOT WORSE. NOW SHUDDERS CONSTANTLY AT 32-44 MPH. DEALER WAS INFORMED BY GM TECH THAT THIS IS A NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC FOR THIS MODEL. I DISAGREE! MY BRAND NEW TRUCK WITH ONLY 5K MILES SHOULD NOT BE SHUDDERING AND SHAKING. WAS TOLD THAT THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM, 2 TO 4 CYLINDER MODE IS SUSPECT AND AFFECTING TORQUE CONVERTER SHUDDER. BUT THIS IS NORMAL? I HAVE REQUESTED REPAIR OR REPLACE OR BUY BACK AND CONTACTED GM CORPORATE DIRECTLY. GM SENIOR ADVISOR TEAM HAS NOT YET CONTACTED ME. I HAVE REFUSED TO DRIVE IT, AND LEFT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP UNTIL RESOLVED. THEY GAVE ME A LOANER TO DRIVE IN THE MEANTIME. APPEARS LOTS OF INSTANCES ON THE INTERNET OF SIMILAR ISSUES AND OWNERS ARE NOT HAPPY. WHY HASN'T GM ENGINEERING FIXED THIS PROBLEM OR ISSUED A RECALL YET? I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING RESPONSES FROM GM / CHEVY FOR RESOLUTION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AND BRAKE PRESSURE PROBLEMS. THE AUTOMATION TRANSMISSION JERKS WHEN ACCELERATING FROM ZERO MILES PER HOUR OR AT LOW SPEEDS. IT CAN DRAMATICALLY INCREASE THE RATE OF AN INCIDENT DUE TO THE POWERFUL MOVEMENT THAT THE MOVEMENT DOES TO THE WHOLE TRUCK. YOU CAN THEN FEEL THE WHOLE TRUCK SWAY BACK AND FOURTH DUE TO THE IMPACT. THIS "JERKING" FROM THE START CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF HITTING ANYTHING IN FRONT OF YOU BECAUSE OF IT NOT BEING CONTROLLED PROPERLY WHEN MOVING IN CLOSE PROXIMITY AREAS SUCH AS HIGH VOLUME TRAFFIC AREAS, HIGH COUNTS OF PEDESTRIANS WALKING ACROSS THE STREET, PARALLEL PARKING, AND PARKING CLOSE TO ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF YOU OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF OBJECT IN FRONT OF YOU. THE BRAKE APPLICATIONS TAKE AN EXTREME AMOUNT OF PRESSURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE AT ALL GIVEN TIMES. MY TRUCK IS BRAND NEW AND PURCHASED ON 9/18/2019.

I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT A NEW 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 LD ON 06/08/2019, I REALLY LIKED THE TRUCK AND ITS MANY FEATURES. AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS I NOTICED THE WHOLE UNDERSIDE FRAME AND DRIVELINE COMPONENTS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED. I BROUGHT IT BACK TO MY DEALER AND THEY IMMEDIATELY LOCATED A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE FOR ME. I PICKED UP THE 2ND NEW TRUCK ON 07/10/2019. THIS TRUCK HAS THE SAME DEFECTS AS THE FIRST VEHICLE. CHEVROLET HAS AN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL TRUCK. I SPOKE TO GM AND THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CARE BLAMING THE DEALER FOR NOT INSPECTING TRUCK PROPERLY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED AND UNSURE WHERE TO TURN NEXT, CAN YOU HELP ME?
