My truck for several months now has been having an issue with power steering, gets a service vision system where at time I get no back up camera and a server trailer brake system. While doing research I've found dozens of posts and videos of issues with 2 ground straps on the vehicle thaylt have affected all 3 or these issues I am dealing with. The ground straps are under the truck near the right wheel well and are basically out in the open not protected wires. I live up north in New York and these wires will corroded overtime especially dealing with salt, snow etc. It is a known issue that a TSB has been put out. I called GM to speak with them of this issue and was told that I haven't bring it to a dealership to look at where I would have to pay a diagnostic fee. I would also possibly be responsible for the repair itself. This issie with the ground straps should be a safety recall especially due to the fact it affects power steering. This has caused my vehicle to at times be unsafe to drive when hard to turn. Thos can cause a serious accidents. The fix is so easy and is a huge engineering flaw with where these wires were placed and not protected. Im asking you to put out a recall so individuals like me can get this issie fixed with no costs to the customer. Not fair for us to foot the bill for a known SAFETY issue. This issue happens everyday. Not sure of exact start date that this is making me choose.

Steering wheel power assist became inoperable when turning into a store parking space. If the steering assist had failed while at higher speed and/or in other conditions the results may have resulted in a potentially life threatening situation. There was no prior messages or symptoms the problem prior to the event. It was discovered that the GM service bulletin 23-NA-201 includes my vehicle as prone to the failure due to corrosion of the body grounding straps. The vehicle trouble lights also acted in accordance to the description in that same service bulletin. The grounding straps were found to be badly corroded to the point of fragility. Grounding was replaced and the vehicle trouble lamp display returned to the normal. The steering assist in the vehicle then returned to normal operation with no further occurrences.

Was driving and the engine died, lost power steering, lost gauges (No speedometer, No Tachometer, Gauges quite working at all) and lost power brakes. Had to try and pull over and was not able to stop or steer easily. I almost hit several other cars and a guardrail trying to stop and steer to emergency lane. After I got stopped, I was not able to restart my vehicle, the starter just kept running but the engine would not start and gauges didn't work. I had my vehicle towed home and started trying to figure out what happened. Put my code reader on the truck and it showed 12 different codes including ECM/BCM failure. I started checking fuses and relays but everything was good. Finally found the problem at the ECM. There was a wiring harness that was not secured and was rubbing against the frame of the truck. One little yellow wire had rubbed through and shorted out which killed the whole truck. It looks like the manufacturer didn't secure the wiring harness in several spots which allowed the wiring harness to rub on the frame and the mount that holds the ECM. The mount for the ECM has started to rub through a different wiring harness and had started rubbing through wires in that harness but I caught it in time.

The power steering light comes off and on and I lost power steering here and there.

Jul 9, 2024

The brake system went out last month on my vehicle. While driving down a road approximately 35 mph I went to stop the vehicle and realized my brakes went out. I had to continuously pump the brakes to avoid hitting the car in front of me. When I hit the brakes several codes came up on my dashboard. Then the brakes began working again but the lights on the dashboard stayed on so I went to a parts house and they checked the codes. There was a code for the brake sensor. They cleared the codes at the parts house I did not order the sensor because the warning lights went off and I had no more problems with the brakes. Sunday, July 7th, I started the truck in a parking lot. As I was backing out of the parking spot the power steering went out and I almost hit the car parked next to me. Again the dashboard lit up with codes. I had no choice but to drive the truck to my house with no power steering. It was difficult to drive the truck back home and then to the Chevrolet dealership the next morning. I presently have the truck at the Auto nation Chevrolet. When I brought the truck in to the service department they hooked up the scanner to download the codes on the vehicle. Vehicle had several codes for the brake system, Telematics communication, engine control module, power steering control module and Body control module. The service Manager stated that they would need to charge me $200 to diagnosis the problem. They would need to keep the truck there 3-5 days. I am waiting on their diagnosis to determine the problem but I believe there is a safety issue involved with this vehicle and the repairs should be addressed by the manufacturer before someone gets hurt.

Jul 6, 2024

Complete loss of power assist steering with multiple safety codes causing loss of vehicle control. Was able to pull over in parking lot to get vehicle off the road. Near impossible to steer when incident happened. Frightening experience. As other complaints have noted frame to body ground strap located behind passenger front tire severely corroded and causing loss of ground contact. No service center open so had to be towed home. Vehicle only has 27,000mi. This has been reported frequently and should be a safety recall as very dangerous.

The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while her husband was making a right turn from a complete stop at approximately 10 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. The message "Trailer Brake" and another message indicating a power steering failure were displayed. The contact stated that her husband pulled to the side of the road, turned off and restarted the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact's husband was able to drive to the residence by using physical strength to maneuver the steering wheel. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure could be related to a corroded ground strap. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

While driving my 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 Crew Cab with the grandkids in the car the electric power steering was lost while driving the vehicle which almost cause an accident. It became extremely hard to turn the wheel lost the power sterering while making a turn almost hit the curb and by an on coming vehicle. I noticed there is a National recall on the Chevy Silverado's for this exact issue with the same symptons listed on the recall but my dealer ( Depaula Chev located in Albany NY) states for some reason my vehicles VIN is not listed as a recall thats associated with the National recall. I had a person come by cause Im afraid to drive the vehicle and it came up as service the power steering EPS.

Because of faulty ground strap, lost power steering and several other fault codes. Authorized GM dealer reported ground strap completely broke. My vehicle has a little over 26000 miles on odometer.

In August 2023 I was hearing a popping noise coming from my truck. Took it to Hare dealership for diagnosis and repair. They had my truck until September 8, 2023. I was told Hare service couldn't reproduce the noise, ran multi-point inspection and was informed that everything was fine. Few days later, I returned to dealership and reported still hearing the popping noise. But service Mgr. said they found nothing wrong that wasn't repaired. Approximately 10 weeks later, while my wife was driving to pick up dinner, after stopping at a stop sign, she started moving and all the sudden steering the vehicle was impossible, and the truck collapsed in the middle of the dark road! See photos. I believe the safety risks to my family and other travelers on the roads speaks for themselves in this situation. I went to the scene with my father-in-law, where I saw my wife visibly terrified and shaking! As for the condition of the truck at the scene, see photos. I had the truck towed to my home, then called Hare Chevrolet the next morning and my truck was then towed to them. Hare reported that, Upper ball joint failed. Multiple damaged components. Recommend replacement of Upper Control Arm, Lower Control Arm, Axle Shaft, Steering Gear, RF Outer Tie Rod End, RF Brake Line, & Wire Repair for Speed Sensor. 4 Wheel Alignment: Required with ball joint replacement. [Primary]: D11 : Multi-Point Inspection (I), Wheels/Rims: Wheel repair. After waiting 6 weeks for Hare to provide a required written estimate detailing the costs of parts, labor, fees and taxes, I finally had my truck towed to another shop a few days ago. Excluding Sep. 8 to Nov 26, 2023, I have not had use of my family vehicle since August 15, 2023!

Nov 27, 2023

Vehicle steering became intermittently jerky while turning in reverse out of driveway and back up camera guide disappeared. This happenend suddenly every time backing out of driveway for about 4 days. The second episode was while attempting to do a K turn. Steering was lost, could not complete the turn almost putting the vehicle into a large ditch. I was able to complete the turn and vehicle opperated seemingly "normal". Concerned, I drove dorectly home, the same happened while turning another corner almost into a ditch.....had to stop short of the turn and muscle the steering wheel to safely get through the corner. The dash communication system showed "service power steering no assist soon" while the incidents happened. After parking vehicle at home the alert would not go away and unable to turn steering wheel. This steering issue seemed to happen at a reduced speed while turning. Very dangerous situation !! I will need to have the truck towed to shop for review and contact dealer for any currnt recalls. I know GM trucks have been recaled for this issue on past models. I have read a bad ground on the passenger side chassis behind front tire may be the culprit as well.

Nov 23, 2023

Power steering failure while the vehicle is in motion. Power assist goes off and on intermittently, without warning. This causes a very unsafe condition, particularly if you are in a curve or turn. There have been other reported failures on this model truck. I have taken the vehicle to an authorized Chevrolet dealer who stated there is no recall on the vehicle for this problem, but also stated Chevrolet is aware of the problem and has had a recall in the past for the electronic steering doing the same thing. The dealer stated they could not replicate the problem and charged me 147.00 for diagnostic, which showed nothing. This was done, although the truck was sold as a certified pre owned vehicle with warranty.

I've had continued issues with components that are electrical . The interior electrical items go wonky, radio touch screen will blink back and forth between two screens for several minutes. Sometimes the sir and radio will just turn on with no key, this is random. It will also turn on off then on again after removing key. The ac has begun to randomly stop working(, blowing cold or at sufficient correct speed) all these occurrences are random, have been checked, unable to duplicate or correct. Bigger more serious issues . The steering and loss of power and hesitation in transmission. My steering went horribly bad. It was replaced and it's still bad and the power module in new unit is bad.. again waiting for s new tech and pinion. (It's been ridiculous with the strike) the steering for several months has been extremely sloppy causing the truck to wander and it's very unsafe. Over the last couple months there's a hesitation when stepping on the gas. As well as a loss in power while driving and far too much gas is required to get it going. The truck purrs when idling but it's losing power. I've stayed on top of the maintenance.. I've had everything checked. These electrical issues have become more than annoying. They are now unsafe, becoming very expensive and have resulted in my having to rent a vehicle. I see there have been many complaints over steering, transmission and electrical. It's time to do something about these unsafe issues

When started vehicle, ECS warning came on dash, slippery drive icon came on dash & Service Power Steering, Drive With Care came on dash. Was unable to steer vehicle as no power steering. Turned off vehicle, checked fluid levels, everything full & no leaks under vehicle. Started vehicle & no warnings and no issue, was able to drive home. Has under 25k miles, serviced regularly & has all original tires/parts from dealer when purchased. I'm the only owner of this vehicle. Have called dealership that does my service & no call back yet regarding this issue. Have not had this issue happen but this one time so far with no prior warning. Anything with steering issues could pose a hazard for the driver & is unsafe. No recalls have been sent out for this either.

I first noticed jerking in my steering two days later the power assist failed. It was almost impossible to steer the vehicle. Luckily I was just leaving my drive. Next time I was in the vehicle the power assist for the steering worked fine, went online and found a video that makes the repair was a body to frame ground strap. This braided copper ground strap from frame to body is located right behind the passengers front wheel. It is subject to salt and corrosion. My vehicle only has 40,000 miles on it and I do have a picture of the failure cost me $10 to repair it shame on GM for putting this critical ground just behind the front tire exposed to salt and corrosion

Aug 14, 2023

There is a vibration that is randomly felt. Over the last year I have replaced struts shocks control arm control arm bushings sway bar link sway bar link bushings tires twice and the vibration just keeps increasing to the point it's doing it now when I turn or take bends in the highway. There is now a flat spot in a tire feel when going it slower speeds to be added to the vibration that happens later on obviously related. This is either from my understanding going to be axle or driveshaft it's going to get looked at today since there's nothing left underneath to repair. This has ruined a pair tires I bought last year for $1,500 in September and probably well on its way to ruining the tires that I've just put on last week for $2,400. There is a hesitation a lack of response and a vibration. As far as the electrical goes it makes this very weird buzzing sound very randomly it's only happened about four times it's loud and it can't be explained. Also sometimes the radio and the AC just turns on and there's no key in the car and I've had the door open for a few minutes. Sometimes after turning it off he'll turn everything off but turn it all back on again no key in. Sometimes I can turn the stereo off and it makes a whistling buzzing sound and it's not even on. As far as any light indicators on the dash for any of this no never had a one. I have completely taken care of this vehicle with the transmission flush and will changes and everything that it's supposed to have and I put a lot of money in it since I've had it in a year but I shouldn't have to on 2019 and it's still experiencing the same problems and I have plenty of documentation. As far as date of occurrence it's been continual and random since I bought the truck in June of 2023 from a local dealership called Lokey

While driving home from church the vehicle suddenly lost power steering when making a right hand turn. I had to go into the opposite lane to make the turn. Fortunately there were no other vehicles in the other lane and I was not far from home . There were no warning lights displayed during the incident. When restarted the truck the same day the power steering was working again. The the next day I started to drive out of my drive way and I finally got a message on my dash that said "Service power steering no assist soon". I called to have it service, but cannot get for 2 weeks. I called chevy customer service to inform them of the incident. They suggested having it serviced by a chevy dealership.

Jul 7, 2023

Service Trailer Brake warning flashed then suddenly lost power steering which nearly caused a crash. Vehicle was taken to dealership and a corroded Grounding Strap caused the complete loss of the electrical power steering system.

Driving and the steering will jerk and comes up svc esc and service back up camera.Back up camera flashing on display but will not stay on .dealership said it was a battery issue so they changed battery and with in 7 miles from dealership almost hit oncoming car due to steering going out. Happen out of no where so it really hard to drive

Nov 7, 2022

Parked in parking on an attempt to crank and leave the power steering would not turn the vehicle and a message appeared stating power steering needs immediate attention and the anti skid light appeared as well as abs message. These messages may not be exact but my concern is if I attempt to drive and the power assist goes out and I cannot control my vehicle. I will say that I went back to where the vehicle was left parked attempt to drive after sitting 1-2 hours and the messages were gone and the power steering had returned.

Oct 17, 2022 Crash

While pulling into a gas station travelling no more than 10 mph the truck turned hard toward a gas pump island and crashed into the island barrier guard. After shutting down the engine and restarting I pulled the truck out of contact with the barrier. The ESC light is now on. It still drives but pulls hard to the right. I have contacted the local dealer that I will be using for repairs and will deliver it to their shop tomorrow. It has not been inspected yet. After the incident the ESC light was illuminated and still is.

Sep 29, 2022

Lost all power steering and brake pedal did not work properly. Could not steer vehicle at all even using both hands on steering wheel. I shut off the truck, turned it back on and "service power steering" light came on the dashboard. Steering did not work at all so I shut it off. Called dealer to report problem and left a message to call me back.( I did not hear back from the dealer.) After a short period of time, I restarted the truck and the service light was still on, but the steering and brakes were working so I drove it home. I took it to the dealership on Sept 5th to explain what happened. They pulled up 8 codes from the truck and made me an appt for sept 8th. They informed me that there was a wire chafing problem with this particular truck, but upon inspection on the 8th, they said they could not find a bad wire. They told me to drive it until it happens again! Not being able to steer or brake are DEFINITELY SAFETY issues !

The ball joint for the front left tire broke while driving on a straight road and caused over $2,100 worth of damage to the wheel, axle, brake, etc. I had no warning or anything when this happened. It felt like my tire popped and when I pulled over, the wheel was still attached but was sitting at an awkward angle. The shop quoted me at $2,154 as there were 5 or 6 different parts they needed to repair including the ball joint, axle, brakes, brake sensors, rim, etc.

Was Driving the truck when I got a Service Power steering and Service ESC and steering wheel turned hard had no steering assist while driving on the freeway was about to hit a curve when this happened had to stop completely since I couldn’t move the steering wheel! Took it to the dealer and they said it’s something they don’t cover so now they are trying to make me pay for something I have no clue about

Event in Order: -AutoStart, failure -Started with key -“Action Required” - “Steering Assist Is Reduced, Drive with Care” -“Service” - “Trailer Brake System” -“dash panel information” not available – Fuel Economy and oil life -“Traction Control light on” -Put truck in reverse, gear not engaged, no response -Put truck in drive, worked, but steering very difficult and made vehicle not safe to drive and/or operate. This has happened to me once before but not to this extent, last was when I was driving and thankfully I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. It would not start after repeated attempts but finally started after and functioned normally. These events had not check engine lights and when serviced, the mechanics said they didn’t see anything when scanned. OnStar diagnostics had no report when I had it active. I bought this truck less than 18,000 miles ago. Initially bought at 17,181 miles on Feb 22, 2021 and is now at 34,675 miles as of Oct 29, 2021. This is a safety concern as the steering fail can potentially lead to an accident if the truck can’t be controlled. Traction control failure can lead to the vehicle becoming stalled in a dangerous situation. Brake systems can lead to unwanted breaking and/or being unable to break. This truck is a danger to operate. I do have video but, upload does not support MP4 format.

Vehicle has 30,000 miles. Started the Vehicle in the morning and for no apparent reason the power steering was out. Error messages on the Dash were Service Power Steering and Service ESC

Jul 12, 2021

I received a message to "Service Power Steering" and to "Service ESC". The power steering completely went out and I had to drive without it. Once the vehicle sat for about an hour, I restarted it and the messages cleared. This is the second time this has happened since I have owned the vehicle.

HAD MY TRUCK PARKED FOR 5 HOURS AT MY GRANDPARENTS WENT TO LEAVE AND HAD NO POWER STEERING AND THE SERVICE POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON THE DASH WHEN I STARTED IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. I CHECKED THE POWER STEERING FLUID AND IT WAS FULL. SO I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED IT BACK UP AGAIN AND POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT. I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AGAIN AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES STARTED IT BACK UP AND THE POWER STEERING WAS STILL OUT BUT I WAS ABLE TO STEER EASIER THAN BEFORE SO I DROVE HOME. ALSO AT THE SAME TIME THE SERVICE ESC MESSAGE CAME ON ALONG WITH THE LIGHT ON THE DASH. THE SECOND TIME RESTARTING THE TRUCK THE SERVICE ESC MESSAGE AND LIGHT WENT AWAY. THE RECALL THAT WAS TO FIX THIS ISSUE HAD ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED ON MY TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN HAVING TRANSMISSION ISSUES AS WELL WHERE THE TRUCK WILL JERK INTO SECOND GEAR AND WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM 2ND TO FIRST IT WILL JERK AGAIN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO BULLETINS ON THIS AND NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I ASKED THE SERVICE GUY THEN WHY DOES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT ROUGH IF THERE IS NOTHING WRONG? I QUOTE "THE NEW TRANSMISSIONS IN THESE TRUCKS ARE SUPPOSED TO SHIFT THAT WAY".

THE TRUCK WAS DRIVEN TO THE STORE, IT WAS PARKED FOR ROUGHLY 20 MINS. THERE WAS NO ISSUE WITH DRIVING TO THE STORE. UPON RETURNING TO THE TRUCK AND STARTING IT IN THE STORE PARKING LOT THE DIGITAL DISPLAY INDICATED THAT POWER STEERING SERVICE WAS REQUIRED AND ESC SERVICE WAS REQUIRED. AFTER SEEING THIS THE DRIVER TRIED TO TURN THE WHEEL BUT HAD NO POWER STEERING SO THEY TURNED THE TRUCK OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR TWO MINUTES. THE TRUCK WAS RESTARTED AND THE SAME FAULT INFORMATION WAS DISPLAYED. THE DRIVER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AGAIN, WAITED ONE TO TWO MINUTES AGAIN, AND RESTARTED. THE SAME FAULTS WERE SHOWN. THE DRIVER REFERENCED THE OWNERS MANUAL IN AN ATTEMPT TO TROUBLESHOOT THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS NO SOLUTION IN THE MANUAL. THE TRUCK WAS THEN DRIVEN BACK TO THE HOUSE 1.9 MILES WITH NO POWER STEERING. THE TRUCK WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER AND RECEIVED SERVICES ONE WEEK PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP DID NOT SAY OR SHOW ANY FAULTS DURING ITS SERVICES. HAD THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND THE DRIVER DID NOT HAVE THE STRENGTH TO TURN THE WHEEL WITHOUT ASSISTANCE THIS COULD HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

2/19/2020, AFTER ALREADY HAVING OTHER COMPLAINTS ON HERE. I WAS LEAVING THE GYM, AND AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING SPACE I NEEDED TO PRESS THE BRAKES, AND HAD TO STAND ON THEM TO GET IT TO STOP. STEERING WAS LOCKED UP AND FINALLY GOT IT STOP. I PUT IT IN PARK TOOK PICTURES OF THE DASH. TURNED IT OFF AND STARTED IT BACK UP, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON.

I WAS IN THE PARKING LOT AT A GROCERY STORE IN MOTION PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND MY BRAKES AND STEERING GOT VERY HARD. I HAD TO MASH THE BRAKE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. IT WAS HARD TO STEER AS WELL. THERE WAS LOTS OF ERROR MESSAGES AND LIGHTS ON. SERVICE ESC, TOP SPEED 62MPH, SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE. HAD TO WAIT 30 MINUTES AND START TRUCK. IT RUNS NOW BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THIS FIRST TIME I WAS IN A DRIVE THRU AND HAD TO PUSH THE TRUCK OUT OF THE WAY. IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY OR A BUSY STREET IT COULD BE DEADLY. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE DRIVING THIS TRUCK ANYMORE.

ABS, ESC, TRAILER BRAKING SYSTEM CONTINUES TO FAIL. I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP THREE TIMES FOR THIS DEFECT. THE TRUCK HAS HAD 5 RECALLS, ONE FOR THE SEATBELT, FOUR FOR THE BRAKES. I DRIVE A LOT OF MILES IN ROUGH CONDITIONS AND DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE. MY WARRANTY IS UP IN ABOUT 7000 AND I DON'T WANT TO BE STUCK WITH THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE.

ON 1/10/20, I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A MAJOR FREEWAY. JUST BEFORE 5:00 PM I HIT TRAFFIC AND SLOWED DOWN TO ROUGHLY 5-10 MPH. AT THAT MOMENT MY DASHBOARD LIT UP AND A NOTIFICATION STATING, "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE" AND "SERVICE ESC" POPPED UP ON MY DASH. AT THAT POINT I WAS UNABLE TO STOP WHEN APPLYING MY BRAKES. LUCKILY I HAD A LARGE ENOUGH SPACE BETWEEN MY TRUCK AND THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AS WELL AS THE TWO LANES BESIDE ME HAVING AN OPENING AND I WAS ABLE TO GET OVER AND COAST TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE SHOULDER. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION. HAD I LOST MY BRAKES 10 SECOND SOONER I WOULD HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO STOP AND CAUSED A POTENTIALLY FATAL CAR ACCIDENT.

I HAD A RECALL PERFORMED AT A DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING PROPERLY. I NOTICED THAT THE NEXT DAY MY LANE KEEP ASSIST WAS TURNED OFF AND NOT FUNCTIONING. LATER THAT SAME DAY WHEN APPROACHING A STOP SIGN, I NOTICED THAT 4 WARNING MESSAGES APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE FIRST SAID POWER STEERING ASSIST DISABLE, THE NEXT SERVICE ESC, THE NEXT TRAILER BRAKE DISABLED, THE NEXT VEHICLE LIMITED TO 62MPH.

ON 12/26/2019 AT 05:40 AM, I GOT IN MY TRUCK (2019 SILVERADO LT ALLSTAR) AND STARTED THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY RECEIVED MULTIPLE WARNING MESSAGES ON MY DASH PANEL. THEY WERE "SERVICE ESC", "BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE" "STEERING ASSIST REDUCED" AND TO DRIVE NO FASTER THAN 62 MPH. PRIOR TO PARKING THE NIGHT BEFORE ON 12/25/2019 I HAD NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER. ON 12/26/2019 I WAS HEADING TO WORK BUT FOUND QUICKLY THAT THE BRAKE PEDEL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH VERY LIMITED OR BASICALLY NO BRAKING. THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT WITH NO APPARENT POWER ASSIST.

WEIRD BRAKE AND STEERING FEEL WHILE DRIVING. SPEED DID NOT EXCEED 35 MPH IN NEIGHBORHOOD DRIVING. DIC READ: BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE MAX SPEED 62 MPH SERVICE ESC TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE. BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD TO PUSH AND UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES. FELT LIKE WE WERE DRAGGING THE BACK END AT TIMES. STEERING WAS INCONSISTENT. PARKING BRAKE WAS OFF. STOPPED AND STARTED 3 TIMES, RESET THE VEHICLE A FEW TIMES. PRIOR TO A BIG DOWNHILL, THE LAST RESTART CLEARED THE ISSUE AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. DROVE HOME AND PARKED. TO BE HONEST, FELT UNSAFE TO DRIVE ESPECIALLY WITH MY SON AND WIFE IN THE CAR. LUCKILY WE ONLY HAD A SHORT 3 MILES HOME. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ONSTAR REPORT RECEIVED IN EMAIL

TRUCK IS 8 MONTHS OLD, LESS THAN 10K MILES ON IT. STEERING LOCKED UP BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. ESC WARNINGS, AND VARIOUS OTHER ELECTRICAL WARNINGS. DEALER STATED IT NEEDS STEERING COLUMN OR GEAR AS THEY SAW THE CODES AND DO NOT WANT ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT DEALER SINCE NOVEMBER 1ST (45 DAYS AND COUNTING) GM HAS STATED PART SHOULD SHIP THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 30TH... EVEN IF IT GOES WELL THIS WILL BE 60 DAYS IN A ROW WITHOUT MY TRUCK! DEFINITELY SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THIS. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS 2 HOURS LATE, DEALERSHIP GAVE AWAY LOANER, THEN WHEN I GOT A LOANER DEALERSHIP ASKED ME TO BRING IT BACK WITHIN A WEEK BECAUSE THEY SOLD THE LOANER... NOW DRIVING A SMALL SUV INSTEAD OF MY BIG TRUCK. HMMMM.

MY TRUCK HAS AN ISSUE WHEN AT LOW SPEEDS 30MPH AND UNDER ALL CHECK WARNING LIGHTS WILL COME ON MY ESC (ELECTRIC STEERING CONTROL) WILL COME ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS I LOOSE POWER STEERING AND WHEN THAT HAPPENS THE STEERING WHEEL RETURNS TO CENTER. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES SINCE BUYING THE VEHICLE NEW I HAD NOT HAD THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH WHEN ALL THE ISSUE STARTED TO HAPPEN. WHEN I LOOSE THE POWER STEERING THE POWER FOR BRAKES GO OUT AS WELL I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS IT'S A VERY SCARY SITUATION WHEN IT HAPPENS. AFTER ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD COME ON, POWER RUNNING BOARDS WOULD ALSO CYCLE UP AND DOWN ON THERE OWN, THE ONLY LIGHT THAT WOULD STAY ON WAS: SERVICE TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND HAD JUST BEEN STARTED. THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS APPEAR ON MY DISPLAY, 1) 'ACTION REQUIRED, STEERING ASSIST IS REDUCED DIVE WITH CARE'. 2) 'SERVICE, TRAILER BRAKE SYSTEM' 3) TRACTION CONTROL / ESC LIGHT APPEARS ON DASH. AT THIS POINT THE STEERING WHEEL CANNOT BE TURNED. I CALLED ONSTAR TO RUN DIAGNOSTICS. A CODE OF U0100 IS STORED. ERRORS WILL CONTINUE FOR 20 - 30 MINUTES AND THEN GO AWAY. AFTER THAT THE TRUCK IS BACK TO NORMAL UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED THE TRUCK FOR 2 1/2 MONTHS AND SEEMS TO HAPPENS ONCE A MONTH SO FAR.

PULLING OUT OF A GAS STATION ONTO A HIGHWAY MY DASH DISPLAY SHOWED "SERVICE POWER STEERING DRIVE WITH CARE" I NOTICED I HAD NO POWER ASSIST TO MY STEERING AND THE STEERING WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER AT BEST. I ALSO RECEIVED THE MESSAGE "SERVICE ECS" AT THIS POINT I HAD LITTLE CONTROL OF THE DIRECTION THE VEHICLE WAS GOING AND MANAGED TO PULL OVER. I ALSO NOTICED THE FOLLOWING FUNCTIONS STOPPED WORKING, CRUISE CONTROL, TRACTION CONTROL, LANE ASSIST, AUTO STOP, ETC. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND RESTARTED. NO ERRORS REMAINED AND I WENT ON MY WAY. SCARY SITUATION TO BE IN ON A HIGHWAY.

A WARNING DASH BOARD NOTICE 'SERVICE STEERING COLUMN LOCK'APPEARED THE VERY DAY WE TEST DROVE THE TRUCK.AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLED TO BE REPAIRED/CORRECTED.GM HAS MY TRUCK FOR MORE THAN 50 DAYS . GM CAN'T GUARANTEE ME THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT LOCKUP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD.WITH THAT STATEMENT I CONSIDER THIS A UNSAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. AND AS OF TODAY'S DATE GM AND THEIR DEALERSHIP CAN FIGURE THIS PROBLEM.I REQUESTED THAT GM REPURCHASE THE UNSAFE TRUCK BACK , I ONLY HAVE THIS TRUCK ABOUT 8DAYS OUT OF 60.
