I purchased a pre-owned Chevrolet Silverado Z71, 4WD, off-road, LTZ pickup truck (Model # C1500 k 1500, VIN [XXX] , NAIC # XXX) from Wally Edgar Chevrolet in Lake Orion, Michigan on 3/28/24. It has the V8 – 5.3 L gasoline engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle was, and still is, in very good condition (no scratches, dents, and a good running engine). However, on 10/29/2025 the vehicle started not being able to shift out of 1st gear. I immediately took it to Cruise Transmission in Rochester Hills, Michigan to have it evaluated. They indicated that the transmission “valve body” needed to be replaced at a cost of about $3,000. Their problem was that they couldn’t locate that part anywhere, and said it might be a month or more before it would be available! After not hearing anything for a couple of months (checking-in occasionally), I began to try to find out why that part wasn’t available. When I did a Google search on “can you sue GM if they can’t provide parts for a [XXX] vehicle”, it came back with the fact that there was a class-action lawsuit in progress for transmission issues on the 2015-2019 Chevy Silverado pickup trucks with 8-speed transmissions. When I inquired with two of the main law firms associated with the class-action lawsuit they indicated that I wasn’t a candidate for the suit because my vehicle was out of the warranty period. I indicated that I understood that, but that I wasn’t able to use my vehicle because the part wasn’t available anywhere. I also called several local dealerships to see if they could get the part. All of which indicated that they couldn’t get the part either, and also expressed their frustration with the issue. On 1/6/2026 and 1/7/2026, I spoke with Chevrolet Customer Service who indicated they didn't know when or if the part would be available. I can't afford to throw away an $18,000 vehicle!!! The vehicle intermittently enters a reduced power/limp mode resulting in a sudden loss of acceleration while driving. This has occurred multiple times, including while towing, when the vehicle was unable to safely maintain or reach highway speeds. The loss of power creates a dangerous condition when merging or driving in traffic. Warning messages indicating reduced engine power have appeared, and diagnostic trouble codes have cleared without repair. Despite this, the problem continues to reoccur. The condition is intermittent and not consistently reproducible during dealer diagnostics. The vehicle is currently available for inspection.

Vehicle lost power while driving on highway 2days in a row dealer Syed they could not find any problems

Dec 24, 2025

Engine light is on with DTC P1098 due to a faulty engine coolant control valve requiring replacement. Vehicle displays warning message “service transmission, unable to shift soon” due to faulty component in electronic shifter requiring replacement.

Dec 17, 2025

Torque converter needs to be replaced at about 35000 miles. Power steering rack needs replacing at 36000 miles. Both of which would be considered major repairs for a vehicle with such low mileage.

Dec 16, 2025

Valve body failed in Dec. 2024 and they replaced it. Valve body failed again in April 2025, they replaced it with new. Valve body failed again in Oct 2025, they said they will not replace it. The brakes locked up for a few seconds making a loud noise, it would not go in reverse which i showed the mechanic all three times, and it would not go over 35mph. they told me the new transmission they put in it in April of 2025, was not warrantied. This has been an on going issue since the original recall, and they refuse to fix it correctly. You will see from the documents, it has been in the shop 6 times in 10 months. now it sits in my yard because I don't want to get in a accident if it goes out while I'm driving. I can not go south for the winter like we usually do because of the truck. Chevy doesn't seem to want to fix the on going issue which was a recall.

The vehicle was purchased new from the dealer in June of 2022. Since the purchase the vehicle has had multiple issues that are safety concerns. The backup camera cuts out on average 1 out of every 10 times the vehicle is placed in reverse always in low light situations like parking garages, night time driving or overcast/rainy weather. The vehicle has been in to GM on multiple occassions to have issue diagnosed and is still not repaired and TSB states for dealerships not to do more work to fix as this is a computer program issue and not a component issue, nonetheless the camera is still not functioning. The second area of failure is the transmission shift module. This module determines when the vehicle has been shifted out of park into R, N or D. The module has been replaced 2 times in 55,000 miles. When the module goes bad the vehicle gives a warning that the ability to shift will be lost. Finally the last safety issue that has been largely reported is the failure of the Telematics Onstar Module which runs the onboard communications for Onstar, Maps, GPS, and other systems that use the GPS signal. This means that any hands free technology tied to these systems no longer work leading to legal issues in most states that have hands free requirements. GM is charging around $1,000 to replace the Onstar module and it is taking 6 months or longer to even access the part if at all. Vehicle has also had running light/headlight, indicator light go out with no way to change a bulb, This requires an entire LED assembly, this issue is intermittent and may reset after the vehicle has been fully powered down, but creates a safety issue while driving with lights and blinker being in operable.

4x4 automatically engages and disengages after the 6.2 engine recall replacement. Dealerships has no solution to the matter. This makes the truck stop operating at normal 2wd speed and limits the turning radius of the truck since it changes to 4wd

I am filing a complaint because my 2022 high country Chevrolet Silverado truck has experienced multiple dangerou transmission failures 4all occurring while driving resulting in complete loss of power sudden stalling in traffic placing everyone in danger. This vehicle has malfunction repeatedly since just day 10 after purchase date and each breakdown has been transmission related occurring suddenly transmission was replaced twice in last 4 months. First incident November 27, 2024 the truck stalled in the middle of the road on card sound heading to a job in the Florida Keys. The vehicle locked up while driving putting us at extreme risk two-lane road next to water with no shoulder. The truck remained in the service department at BOMNIN Chevrolet West Kendall for 73 days until February 7, 2025. The second incident was only 13 days after The truck again experience loss of power & transmission malfunction the second safety incident for the same issue vehicle was in the shop until March 5, 2025, third safety incident for the same issue was June 25, 2025 once again same issue transmission we took the truck back for service BOMNIN Chevrolet West Kendall. The truck remained in the shop for a full month. although the truck was returned July 25, 2025 and they said transmission was replaced. The truck continued to give us issues leading us to the last incident for the same exact thing transmission failed again October 7, 2025. again in the middle of a very dangerous street in Hialeah, Florida where we had to once again to the car to the service department the truck remained in the service department until November 21, 2025. Each failure has happened while driving. Two transmission replacements June service and Oct. 2025 three months apart. The truck is unsafe I am scared to drive it and we have children ranging from newborn, one year-old , teenagers. I keep getting a runaround between the GM customer service the service department. Almost 6 months non use first year!

On Sunday October 12th, 2025, we were driving in Grand Rapids,MN when our truck (2002 Silverado [XXX] ) suddenly lost power. We were on a main highway without shoulders. The truck would not restart. The truck would not shift out of park to be rolled/pushed off the road. After about an hour, a tow truck arrived and towed the truck to our home ($200). We connected the ODB2 Code reader and found code P129F. After a bit of research, this code is related to a failed Fuel Pump Control Module (GM 13544060). The module is superseded with GM 13554821. We found this fuel control model is the subject of a recall (N252516900) on various GM vehicles that share a similar body design and year to this truck with this exact module. A semi-local dealer had the replacement part (GM 13554821 - $60) and we were able to replace it Monday morning to bring the vehicle back into service. I am requesting the following - Expand the recall to include any vehicles with this known-faulty Fuel pump control module INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

The throttle body and valve body failed at 90,500 miles. When this occurred it went into limp mode and I could not travel ov 20 mph. Also would not go in reverse. This was very dangerous for me since most travel need to be done at high speed. Also not being able auto go in reverse has significant potential for danger. This failure has been confirmed at a Chevrolet Dealer. The dealer diagnosed the issue and confirmed the problem. The failure came out of no where with no prior performance issue. The engine light came on and the limp mode message appeared.

We are having 2 problems with this vehicle. The first is the key in the ignition is not always removeable when you turn the truck off. The second is we are told called the chevy shudder. It almost feels like the wheels pause for a micro second. It feels like the there is something wrong in the transmission, drive train area. The truck started doing this when it had less than 50,000 miles on it. It hasn't broke down yet but it wouldn't surprise me if it did any day now.

Oct 2, 2025

Harsh jerking when downshifting when driving in AWD, it happens when I release the the gas pedal. It happened when I was going 10, 30 40, 50 mph.

Oct 2, 2025

Transmission I believe is the problem, when driving at speeds any where between 10 to 60 a very harsh jerk happens when down shifting, as I let go of the gas. It is harsh enough that it is unsafe. I took it to the dealer Autonation ChevyGilbert and dealer acknowledged condition but refused to apply GM TSB 24-NA-167 and Service Update N222383250, claiming VIN not applicable despite matching transmission and symptoms. Dealer says I should not drive the truck in Auto AWD.

Issue: (1) Was parking truck and as I placed the shifter into "R", it would not stay in "R" I could not engage reverse. After 3-4 times, I pulled straight forward and attempted to shift the vehicle into "R". It finally locked into "R" and I was able to back the truck up. I also experienced a hard shift when I had placed it into "D" to pull forward. Issue: (2) Earlier that day, was as I was backing out of my driveway, I noticed my backup video, went out, and intermittently, came back on. at one point it displayed a circle with a triangle?

Sep 27, 2025

On September 16 2025 sudden loss of acceleration and reduced engine power with check engine light turning on. No issues or symptoms prior. Dealership is replacing the transmission under warranty.

Got Engine Light and Reduced Power Message. Took To My Chevrolet Dealer Engine Codes P0700 and P0747 Which are Transmission Control System Malfunction and Pressure Control Solenoid A Stuck On. When this happens the truck stalls but keeps running in Limp Mode. I was told by Chevrolet Dealer it was a common problem with the 10L80 Transmission and it needed a New Valve Body installed. Because it is a common Problem it could take 2 weeks to 2 Months to come in and would be covered under warranty and DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL IT COULD BE REPAIRED,

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds in inclement weather, the ESC warning light illuminated. The contact stated that while making minor steering adjustments or turning to the right or the left, the vehicle skidded. The contact was able to make an adjustment to the steering wheel to regain control of the vehicle. Additionally, the contact stated that the vehicle was idling roughly and was vibrating noticeably while stopped at a traffic light or while slowing down for traffic. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. Recently, while driving at 45 MPH, the vehicle shuddered and unexpectedly downshifted to first gear. The check engine warning light illuminated, and the RPMs elevated to 4,500 RPM. The contact pulled over and stopped the vehicle, and the vehicle was turned off and restarted. The vehicle was revving abnormally and failed to shift out of first gear. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V797000 (Power Train); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.

A search of your site shows I have no unrepaired recalls. That is not true. I had a software update the was intstalled to keep me from going above 7th gear in my 10 speed transmission due to concerns over incidents of transmission/rear end lockup occuring when downshifitng from 8th to 7th gear. This update was done November 27, 2022, at Juneau Toyota, Juneau Alaska 99801. While this is supposed to protect me from a transmission/rear end lockup, it has impacted me in MPG since this updated, especially when towing a travel trailer. My MPG while towing a travel trailer was decreased by 30%. My highway travel MPG has been decreased by 17%. Yes GM is saying they are protecting my self and vechicle, It is costing me a lot at the pump. It has been almost 8 months since the recall updated software was installed and not a word when this will be repaired and I have a 10 speed transmission I purchased from GM back in full operation.

While driving, speed can vary, but yesterday we were going almost 50, and the transmission or brakes lock up which causes the back axel to lock up and the tire squeal, similar to slamming on the brakes. It caused my truck to sway side to side and scare the hell out of my son. Definitely not safe. The local dealer says it is a stuck valve or something. It has caused the engine light to come on multiple times, but will go off after 24 hours or so. But it keeps occurring. Happened 3 times on 7-8-25. Give a whiplash feeling to the body as well. One coded P0747 Transmission Solenoid Valve 1 Stuck on invalid configuration Other time was P0700 Transmission Control Module Requested Malfunction Please issue a recall so this can be resolved before an accident or injury occurs.

Jul 8, 2025

While driving at freeway speeds, my transmission malfunctioned and caused the rear wheels to briefly lock up. This sudden mechanical failure has occurred four separate times in the past month, each time while traveling at highway speeds. The incident creates a serious safety hazard — sudden rear-wheel lockup at high speeds can lead to loss of control, skidding, or collisions. Fortunately, I was spaced far enough from other vehicles during each occurrence, so no crashes or injuries occurred. However, this issue poses a major safety risk to both the driver and surrounding traffic, especially under different circumstances such as wet roads or heavier traffic. The issue appears to stem from the 10L80E transmission, a component widely used in GM vehicles from model years 2020 through 2025. Based on online forums and discussions, this is a known and recurring problem affecting a number of drivers, not just an isolated case. To date: The problem has not yet been diagnosed or confirmed by a dealer or service center, but it is reproducible, as it has happened multiple times under similar conditions. There were no warning lamps, messages, or symptoms prior to each failure — the malfunction occurred without notice. The component is not yet inspected by the manufacturer, insurance, or police, but it is available for inspection upon request. This issue requires urgent investigation by NHTSA, as it may affect a large number of vehicles on U.S. roads. A sudden drivetrain lockup at highway speeds could lead to catastrophic crashes under less fortunate circumstances I am aware of the Safety recall for vehicle years of 2020 -2022 but my specific truck manufacture date falls just outside the dates by a couple months.

Jul 7, 2025

Travel aprox 40 mph. Rear wheels abruptly lock up. Truck skids to a stop. Extremely dangerous situation luckily no accident occurred. Truck is at 72k miles. Warranty is 60k miles. Truck is currently at dealership and they consulted GM engineers at corporate and were told to replace the valve body and it’s $2500 but they will not cover any of the cost. I’m afraid that this wheel lockup will happen again. Especially considering the bandaid fix there recommended. They refused to buy the vehicle back and do not seem the least concerned that my safety possible dead could result from what truly is gm cheaping out on manufacturing the value body from an appropriate metal instead of cheap cast aluminum which is the root cause of all gms transmission issues.

Jun 27, 2025

I have had several check engine lights come on and the codes are for emission related issues. I made an appointment with the local chevy dealership to get the emission system looked at. However, the day before I was to take it in, I was driving and the truck dropped into "Low power mode" leaving me driving on the highway with no acceleration at all. I finally limp to the dealership only to tell me the valve body is shot and this has been a problem in these vehicles. They then tell me the parts are backordered and there is no ETA to fix. I start researching on the internet and this is a huge known issue and there should be a recall. Now I am stuck in a 10-year-old loaner with 130k miles. They know this is an issue, they should have a recall and the parts available.

I was driving my truck with my two young children in the back seat. I was accelerating to merge onto the interstate, and at 8th gear (around 74 MPH) I felt and heard a BANG and lost all propulsion, as if the transmission went into neutral. I revved several times and had no power to the wheels. I had to quickly check traffic behind me and find a place to stop on the side of a busy interstate, with two young children in the truck. While decelerating, I had no engine power and the transmission shifted from D to N to P while I was still moving - although it felt like it was still in N. As the truck decelerated, the engine shut off while in motion (around 30-40mph) and I came to a stop. As I was coming to a stop, I noticed I had a solid CEL/MIL along with several other warnings. I was unable to crank the truck - crank but no start - and unable to shift from P. Had I not been able to find a safe place to stop (e.g., in heavy traffic on the interstate or in city traffic) I surely would have been involved in an accident. When trying to tow the truck to the dealer, I had no way to get the truck out of P to load onto the tow truck flat bed. Subsequent attempts (at the Chevy dealer) to remove the truck from the tow truck flat bed were unsuccessful, as the truck would not shift from P nor crank. This was a severe safety issue which I am not sure is powertrain, electrical, or emission related but it could have ended in a severe crash on the interstate with my children. There were no indications of any sort of malfunction or issue except for when I immediately heard and felt the bang and lost propulsion on the interstate. I drove the truck earlier in the week without issue and there were no MIL's immediately prior to the incident. The truck is at Jimmy Gray Chevrolet, Southaven, MS awaiting evaluation and diagnosis.

Jun 23, 2025

On May 3, 2025 my truck would not go into reverse leaving me stranded 250 miles from my home. There was no indication the transmission was having problems (no warning lights and the truck was driving as designed). Then boom -- nothing. I was left stranded on a Saturday evening in a rough part of Detroit putting my safety at risk due to this sudden malfunction. The truck was taken to a GM dealer and had the transmission valve body replaced. Upon the repair, I drove the 250 miles back home. During this trip the torque convertor failed - again leaving the vehicle non operatable. The vehicle went back to the dealer and the torque convertor was replaced. About 1 week later the transmission valve body (that was originally replaced) failed again leaving the vehicle non operatable and me stranded again. I am now being told that transmission valve bodies are on national back order with no eta leaving me without transportation. Leaving a customer stranded multiple times despite replacing several major transmission components created a substantial safety risk to me and my family.

I have a 22022 Refresh Silverado 1500 High Country with 12,500 miles that gets a "Service Transmission" warning and kills the engine leaving it in the traffic. When trying to restart the truck it just keeps flashing errors and can't be restarted for about half hour. This has happened twice to me so far. The codes recorded are in the attached file.

Other vehicles of this year, make and model are recalled because of transmission issues. My vehicle is experiencing shuddering, lack of power, and hard shifting. Theses issues are the same as those found in recall.

Jun 5, 2025

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle was shuddering abnormally. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer and the transmission was replaced due to coolant intrusion. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred approximately 1-month later. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer on three separate occasions due to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.

Driving across town, rear wheel lock up occurred. Feels like hitting a small tree. Scary situation. Whole truck is rocked.

Jun 2, 2025

I was driving after 2 weeks of purchasing the truck the engine light came on and a message on the dash board that read loose of engine propulsion the truck was having a very hard time accelerating and it was jerking and it would not go into reverse at all this happened on May 30th 2025

May 29, 2025

Transmission valve body failed. I was driving to the store on 5/17/25 with my son (6) and the RPMs jumped while driving. We were less than a mile from the store and continued as it seemed to not be an issue after that. When we attempted to leave the store we had no reverse gear and the vehicle was in limp mode (limited acceleration). The vehicle has been at the dealership since 5/17/25 and they have confirmed that the valve body failed. The CEL came on when we started the vehicle at the store. This appears to be a prevalent issue for GM and the part to repair is backordered with no ETA available. The dealership advised it could be six months.

May 29, 2025

Driving across town. Going around 30 mph. Through a busy intersection and the rear wheels locked up again. Sends a jolt to anyone in the vehicle. Causing a whiplash effect. Scary as hell. Seems to happen almost daily now. Very unsafe. Worried about myself and anyone behind me. Dealer and other mechanics described it as "momentary wheel lock up". Please issue a recall.

May 28, 2025

When accelerating, it started around 35 mph, I would be driving and it would feel like hitting a speed bump, even though there wasn't a speed bump. Over the past month, it has moved to about the 45 mph, and the rear wheels completely lock up for a second, cause the tires to "squeal" as if slamming on the brakes. It gives anyone in the vehicle a whiplash effect. Any loose items in the truck will go flying. It is a scary situation and I am worried it is going to cause damage to myself or my passengers or cause an accident. The term given to me by the dealer is "Momentary Rear Wheel Lock-Up". They were very familiar with the issue, but since my VIN wasn't on the recall, they wouldn't do anything. This has happened numerous times, starting back in early March. The issue has escaladed and gotten worse. The latest date is noted below.

May 23, 2025

There is already a recall on the Chevy Silverado but only for the 10speed engine not the V8s in regards to the transmission. There have been a select few V8s that just now started getting recalled. Our truck is doing exactly what these recalls are reporting- hard shifting, knocking of engine, check engine light, trouble shifting into gear. All of which could cause a blown motor or issues while driving and decides to breaks down on the highway or regular roads which if that happens could result in accidents. GM knows there are issues but refuses to acknowledge that all the trucks in the 2022 year regardless of the engine type need to be recalled.

May 22, 2025

The engine started to shake violently while traveling down the interstate, my speeds reduced against my will. My safety and the safety of others was jeopardized while I'm traveling down an interstate with a minimum speed of 70 mph and my truck speed reduced to 35 mph or less. After an inspection from the dealership, I assumed the responsibility of having the engine rebuilt that cost me thousands of dollars. As the vehicle started to reduce speed is when the onstar alert went off. After having my vehicle for 10 ten days I receive it in worst condition that I gave it to them. Approximately 2 weeks later, the vehicle had to be towed to the dealership which they diagnosed it as needing the throttle body replaced. I allowed the dealership to fix that issue. Upon them returning the vehicle to me, I now have an electrical issue. The dealership stated that they may have crossed wires. The windows would roll down once I locked the vehicle, the door would constantly unlocked while I'm driving and the radio would shut down and restart while driving. The dealership was unable to find the problem so they decided to turn off everything so these I would not have these issues. Now I can smell something burning from time to time while I'm driving.

May 19, 2025

The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that after the dealer had replaced the engine, the rear tires seized while driving, preventing the vehicle from moving forward or reverse. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer, and it was determined that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to cover a part of the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 79,013.

- Failed Engine Coolant Control Valve, it was made available for inspection at a Chevy and GMC dealership - Failure of this part puts my family and other drivers at risk especially when towing our camper in the mountains of Colorado. The engine goes into "low power mode" which creates the possibility of overheating while driving and the coolant circulation to operate not as intended in the design of the vehicle. - Yes, the dealership was able to reproduce the condition and is sitting at the dealership now for 44 days as it is been considered "not drivable". - Yes, the dealership has been inspected by Emich Chevrolet in Lakewood, CO. - The check engine light did come on and produced GM code P1098. The engine goes into low power mode where the fans are on high and tells you to be careful when driving the vehicle. It first appeared in March 2024, the vehicle only has ~22,000 miles on it, bought new from the dealer.

Transmission valve body failing causing limited power and potential accident in middle of the highway.

May 7, 2025

Sudden limp mode check engine, engine power reduced only first gear working no reverse , dealership determined that the valve actuator on the transmission went out.

May 5, 2025

April 2023 experienced loss of power and eventually would not start at all. (8k miles) Was at the dealer for just over 3 months and had motor replaced. April 2025 valve body on the transmission went out and was at the dealer a week and a half. (15K miles) Currently experiencing loss of tailgate function and an error message on the screen saying "caution reduced speed". (17,400 miles)

May 2, 2025

Vehicle transmission stopped. Was at an intersection light turned green hit gas pedal vehicle moved 6”. Pushed throttle to floor and vehicle was jerking back and forth. No warning lights ever came on dash. I ended up getting stuck in intersection for 4 light cycles. Throttle to floor entire time jerking forward 6” at a time. People blowing horns at me entire time while I was helpless in a extremly busy intersection. Luckily a dealership was right around corner and was able to limp it into lot. Dealer had no loaner cars. Told me to come back. Went to leave and truck would not back out of parking lot. Truck was at dealer for nearly 3 months. Missed out on camping trips do to lack of truck.

My Chevrolet Truck was purchased brand new with under a thousand miles on it. I was driving and the sensor went out at about 45,000 miles then the other sensor went out two days later. 15 thousand miles later my transmission went out. Was at the dealership for 6 months. Now I have the vehicle back and still isn’t driving correctly. Shifting problems

May 1, 2025

I was driving the truck and it just stopped moving like the vehicle was in neutral. My safety really wasnt put at risk, other then I couldn't move out of the way of other traffic The truck is at simmons and rockwell dealership waiting to be fixed due to the part being on backorder. My check engine light was on but when the garage I usually take my vehicles to put it on a machine to tell them what was wrong with it. It came up with a different issue then the light went out. I just got it back from the garage that same day the control valve went. The garage put it back on the machine and then it said transmission issues. I then had it towed to the dealership. Where the truck is now waiting to be fixed. Thankfully this is covered under my powertrain warranty. I just wanted to report this because I seen alot of the same year different motor chevrolet trucks were recalled for this same part. I just bought this truck less then 3 months ago I am thankful for the warranty. If this is a common issue hopefully me reporting mine saves someone in the future. Thank you

Within the last couple of days, my truck went into limp home mode 3 times, "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care", check engine light on, right after the truck jerked a few times while it was shifting. Each time the message went away after a re-start but the check engine light was still on. Now the truck also has another message, "Service Transmission Now unable to shift soon". again after the truck jerking while the trans was shifting. I only have 15,781 miles on the truck and it is less than 3 years old.

When shut off and put in park it will not allow the truck to turn all they way off because it says it’s not in park. I’ve read that there has been several issues with this is the dealer charges anywhere between $900-$1500 to attempt to fix but people are saying it doesn’t. Also there is no dip stick to check transmission fluid. And apparently even ase certified mechanics can’t check the fluid levels

My truck (2022 Silverado with ~37k mileage) suddenly went into limp mode and gave me a reduced engine power message, along with an ignited check engine light. As soon as this happened, I also received an email stating that there was a diagnostic alert for my vehicle requiring immediate attention (Engine and Transmission System). I immediately called the shop and took it in for diagnostics. I am told it is a valve body issue. It seems that this is a known issue, and it seems extremely dangerous for these faulty parts to be on the road. Thank you in advance for keeping our roads safe and making sure the car companies are held accountable for their faulty systems.

At ~51,000 miles, my 2022 Silverado Trail Boss 6.2L L87 experienced a sudden engine failure while on / exiting the highway. The engine began shaking violently, the check engine light flashed, and it lost all power without warning. It was towed and remained out of service for 28 days. The dealer diagnosed lifter delamination, a scored camshaft, and scored cam, main, and rod bearings. Metal shavings were found in the engine, indicating internal contamination. Despite the severity, the manufacturer approved only an engine overhaul, not a full replacement. The service manager stated, “it’s nearly impossible to get these motors,” pointing to a national shortage due to widespread failures of the 6.2L engine platform. After picking up the vehicle, I immediately noticed a rattling noise from underneath. I returned to the dealer (who also failed to recharge the AC system). They traced the noise to the catalytic converter and muffler and quoted $2,709.24 to replace the full exhaust system. The manufacturer refused to cover the repair, even though the issue appeared immediately after the engine failure. The dealer did not confirm the exact cause, but possible contributing factors include combustion instability, engine misfires, unburned fuel, and extreme vibration during the failure. These conditions can severely impact the exhaust system and emissions components. I was quoted nearly $4,000 for an extended warranty, which I now feel pressured to buy due to loss of confidence in the engine. Metal debris may have affected the oiling system, injectors, or other critical parts. This raises serious safety concerns: sudden power loss at highway speed, compromised emissions components, and the risk of future failures. With the 6.2L under NHTSA investigation, I believe this incident supports further review or recall.

When the vehicle is completely stopped, shifted to the park position, ignition turned off, the motor will stop running but an error come up on the dash " shift to park" and the horn start chirping and the instrument panel, radio etc. will not shut off even though it is in park .I have read this is a huge safety concern with my model truck and many other Chevrolet vehicles but I'm not sue if it's resulted in any injuries or damage. The GM customer service rep I spoke to said to file this with you NHTSA so that if there is enough of a safety concern or defective part problem a recall will be issues. thank you for your time [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

I have to be careful with somebody is in front me in crosswalk. The problem is in the center on some go black for hour, if it done do that everything freeze on the display some time for hour even if I stop and restart the truck, this is get worse as the week go by. Vehicle Message "Reduced Acceleration Drive with Care" . My car then ran like it was in 1st gear for my drive home. Next morning couldn't go into reverse so I had to have my buddy help me tow it. Went to the dealer and they said that it's "an ongoing issue with GM that they haven't addressed with several vehicles and the part (Valve Body) is on backorder with no ETA. With this horrible safety issue you would think GM would just take the hit and change out the entire transmission instead of making people wait so long without their vehicles.

I have a 22 5.3L V8 trail boss 86k miles was running great prior.Truck gears started slipping and was able to get it home. Started the next day and check engine light came on and no reverse. Was able to get it to the dealership with the reduced engine power warning. I dropped it off Friday 2/21 and was immediately diagnosed with the bad valve body issue/code. Service was very vague with me at first and gave me 2 options Valve body replacement with an estimate of $3100.00 or a full transmission of $8,000.00. No mention if this was common when asked. Makes sense as to why they did not drop the pan when I asked if they checked the fluid. If this is a common issue I feel as they were trying to lure me into a new transmission for the extra money. That doesnt give me a great feeling with the dealership or chevy in general. I went with the valve body replacement and he said he would order the parts. I called this past week just for an update and asked about parts and then they alluded that they were on backorder from GM not another dealership and he thought he mentioned that. There is no way to track the parts? No loaners available I rely on my truck a lot for work and transporting my family of 4 around. Not very optimistic after reading thats this is a major problem. Has anyone else experienced the brevity when asking for answers? Has anyone else had to pay for this out of pocket? Im expecting the worst and hoping for the best but not really sure where to go from here other than wait.

On 12.27.24, the vehicle lost motive power while traveling through a busy and dangerous intersection and coasted to a stop. It was towed to a GM Dealership where it was determined that the engine had seized as it wouldn't crank. The serpentine belt was also noted to be atypically damaged as if it wasn't riding evenly / correctly on the pulleys. The vehicle may be available for inspection but as of this date, repairs have been authorized... so availability may change. The dealer will likely retain the failed engine. The sudden loss of motive power is always potentially dangerous. In my situation, I could have been unable to move out of a busy intersection and been subject to cross-traffic collision. The problem has been confirmed by the dealer but has not been further inspected by anyone other than the dealer. No warning indicators occurred that led me to believe their was an impending issue with the powertrain / engine.

At 28000 km my 2022 Chevrolet trailboss 1500 with the 6.2 started to burn oil. It was averaging 1 litre every 2000km. The dealership told me this was perfectly acceptable for consumption on this engine. From 28000 km to 45967km I had it in multiple times due to low engine oil warnings and loss of power. At 45967km I took it to another Chevrolet dealership and they inspected my truck and determined that it was caused by piston and rings. This was done under warranty. I got the call stating my truck will be ready they are just doing a test drive to confirm the issue is fixed. When I got to the dealership they informed me it was ticking and they had to investigate further. During the test drive it collapsed a lifter. After they took my engine apart for a second time this was fixed I got my truck back. Over the course of the next month sitting my truck gave me headaches and made me sick. I found out that exhaust was leaking into my cab through my vents due to a 4 head gas monitoring device. I notified the dealership and made an appt. At 47434km my truck collapsed another lifter while I was on the highway with my wife and children in the vehicle and it started to violently shake with vibrations while trying to maintain or accelerate, all the warning lights in my dash went off and I lost all safety systems. I booked it back into the dealership to have it repaired and asked to have the engine replaced as I have had nothing but problems with it and was not happy with this truck or its reliability. I reached out to Chevrolet Canada at this point and asked to have my engine replaced or my truck replaced because this truck has had nothing but problems (many more outside of the engine) and they apologized and said the best they could do was offer me a hat. I have all service records and all service has been complete at Chevrolet dealerships. Truck has no current engine problems but still has many other problems.

I was driving down the highway at 65mph when the truck shifted into Neutral. Could not shift back into drive. Pulled over 3 lanes to shoulder and stopped, shifted to Park, turned off engine. Restarted and shifted into Drive. While driving to dealer truck seized up and stopped at a red light. Could not start or shift into neutral. Left stranded in traffic hoping not to get rear ended by 65mph traffic. No warning signs, dash light notifications or check engine lights were on.

My truck was put in the shop for loss of power. after 28 days the dealer had diagnosed and repaired the truck. They had to replace all of the valve train lifters along with 1 broken push rod. I was driving home at about 35 - 40 mph when my truck began to shutter and the steering felt like I was going over a washboard road. I was only less than a mile from my home when this started and was able to limp home and had the truck towed to the dealership. After I receive my truck back I opened a claim with GM. Claim # 9-14306272503 on 12/20/2024. I have not received any feedback from GM or the Dealer.

I have personally been experiencing a terrible cold start in the mornings. I have a 8 speed transmission with the 2.7 L engine. There is a recall on other Silverado and sierras with a (broken reaction carrier ring). I am having issues like, not engaging into drive from park for 20 seconds, once engaging-it will have hard pauses and shifts, yesterday I turned left crossing traffic with my kids in the truck and it stalled before shifting into second. I have been having these issues since about 15k and they’re progressively getting worse. The dealership keeps telling me it’s a normal for an 8 speed transmission. When doing research gmc did a recall for exactly the issues I’m having, however it only included 96 vehicles sierra and silverados. Which is customer satisfaction program N212328090 8 speed reaction Carrier Failure. I would love to chat about it over the phone if more information is needed. I am very unsatisfied with Chevrolets resolution to saying it is normal. It is definitely not normal. I am submitting a complaint regarding recurring transmission issues with my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado (VIN: [XXX] ). These problems have compromised my safety and that of others on the road. Multiple repair attempts and discussions with GM have not resolved the issue. Incident Details: On [XXX], around 9 a.m., I experienced a severe transmission malfunction documented on dash cam. When I shifted out of park, the vehicle lunged forward, forcing me to brake suddenly, despite not applying gas. Minutes later, on an exit ramp, the transmission downshifted without throttle input, causing the rear end to fishtail as it attempted to throttle out and sounded stuck in neutral. Repair History: This issue has led to repeated repairs in January, February, and April of 2023 and 2024, as well as September 2023 and 2024. Despite these efforts, GM released a technical service bulletin classifying this transmission behavior as “normal” and has refused further repairs. Safety Impact: These unpredictable shifts and lack of responsiveness have created hazardous situations. Lunging, uncommanded downshifting, and rear fishtailing make it difficult to maintain control, especially in high-traffic areas. Request for NHTSA Investigation: Given these safety concerns, I urge NHTSA to investigate whether this defect affects other vehicles of this make and model year. An investigation may prevent future incidents and prompt GM to address this dangerous issue. Additional documentation, including dash cam footage, repair records, and communication with GM, is available to support this complaint. Hello, I was driving on the highway and all of a sudden the engine made a noise then the dash alerted me to shift into neutral/press start. I had to pull off the highway in single lane traffic and call for a tow. The truck was towed to the dealership. The truck lost power on the highway in single lane and there was no ability for other cars to go around me in a 75mph zone due to construction. The dealer diagnosis is that the motor is locked up and will require full replacement at only 70k miles. It is within years on powertrain but out due to mileage. There were no symptoms until the truck engine locked itself up.

As I drive down road at speed limit. Transmission control module shuts down and the truck loses speed to where it's a safety problem that the cars behind you almost hits you as you have to coast of the road. It has happened to many times. I took it to dealerships. But I had to shop around from county to county to find one that would fix the problem. They dealership wouldn't fix while under warranty. Know that I have finally found a dealership in another county. They have ho parts to fix it. But I'm stuck with a bill that while under warranty the problem exists. The biggest thing is that once I found this dealership. They informed me that this is ongoing problem with GM. They had about 7 others in shop with the same problem and no parts. I don't understand while there is no recall to fix this problem that exists. Trying to make me pay my truck payment plus spend monthly money on renter cars. That's about $2000 a month extra.

Periodically at low speeds my transmission will hard shift. This causes my vehicle to lurch forward. This has happened several times to me. I have taken it to my Chevrolet dealership and have been told that this is a known problem but nothing they the dealership can do about it! I can only speculate but they are waiting for GM to make a decision on what must be done. I believe the transmission is mechanically faulty.

Since new, this vehicle has had two unresolved safety issues. One of which being the failure of a FMVSS 111 required system - rear vision camera. The two defects are: 1. Service 4WD warning message and inability to use 4WD in inclement weather. This has caused safety concerns for my wife and I when traveling in the winter. 2. Failure of the FMVSS 111 required rear view camera system when in reverse. The display screen goes blank with an error message intermittently when in reverse.  Not being able to see behind the vehicle while in reverse has raised safety concerns by both my wife and I in numerous parking situations. The Dealer (Al Serra Chevrolet Grand Blanc MI) has attempted warranty repairs on both issues on 4 service visits: Delivery Date 9/27/2022 1st repair 1/12/2023 2nd repair 11/27/2023 3rd repair 12/19/2023 4th repair 2/27/2023 GM Customer Assistance Case 9-12089878168 2/27/2024 Certified Letter to GM notifying of intent to file for Lemon Law Relief, Final Repair attempt. All 4 repair attempts included the 4WD system failure as well as the Rear View Camera system failure. Many components have been replaced. along with many reprograming attempts of both systems. Both problems return after the Dealer attempts a repair, and have not been successfully repaired to date. The problems first appeared on 1/12/2023. Due to the Camera issue being of such a serious safety hazard, we will not drive the vehicle again until repairs are assured. We cannot risk backing into a pedestrian.

The consumer stated that the vehicle is still at the dealer and the DEF module has been replaced 3 times. No remedy has been provided from the manufacturer so far.

When vehicle becomes disabled due to an an electrical or mechanical issue there is no way to put the transmission into neutral. Due to the vehicle having an electric shift mechanism, when there is an electrical issue with the vehicle it can’t be shifted into neutral to push or tow the vehicle. For some unknown reason, GM did not provide an emergency transmission shift override system. My previous vehicle, a 2014 Ram had an emergency shift override mechanism for emergency situations. With GM’s lack of an override system if the vehicle develops an issue while driving once it comes to a stop it shifts its self into park leaving no way to move the vehicle safely off the roadway without a tow truck using skates/dollies on the rear wheels. I personally experienced this yesterday while driving in San Antonio, Texas traffic. My vehicle died while going 70 mph. Thankfully I was able to coast off to the shoulder. When the vehicle came to a stop it would no longer shift into neutral. I have read others having similar experiences only not being fortunate enough to get off the roadway. GM needs to provide a way to override the electronic shift mechanism so there vehicles can be moved when issues arise. It’s only a matter of time before an electrical issue renders a vehicle unmovable in traffic causing injury or death to the traveling public.

7500 oil change, tire rotation multi vehicle inspection appt. With issues. - didn't do oil change/inspection. Because of major issue with transmission/engine. Vehicle running rough, happens at idle or while driving. Sounds lik it will stall. When u put vehicle in gear drive or reverse vehicle lunges towards direction its in gear. Radio lights on dash decide to dim on their own, shuts off on its own. Will not let u adjust dimness you must shut off for it to re light up which is a 50/50 chance. Going over bumps loud noise coming from rear, vehicle does get squirmy when you hit a large bump. Large loud whinging noise upon acceleration. Intermittent issue with key fobs usually spare key not found on dash. Still. Diagnosis papers attached. It is a balance shift gear crank shaft case; they have to remove the transmission and the engine completely from my truck and replace parts! Takes over 1.5 for parts to get delivered, plus they will have my vehicle for 7 days plua approx to do repair. But for now they told me it's cool that I drove it still with crank shaft and balance gear shift issues! They cannot do 7500 mile oil change as they have to remove the engine and they want to wait to do oil so its not wasted when they have to rip engine out. All other issues will be address once this issue is fixed because they are hoping that these problems are solved with the major repair. Tsb# 23-NA-015.

My transmission has been slipping and shifting very hard. The dealer tried relearning the transmission twice and that did not solve the problem. The cooler line has failed and now the transmission is being replaced. The radiator also failed and started leaking. After 10000 miles my transmission is shifting erratically, especially in the morning

Mar 9, 2023

Vehicle was hard shifting from 1st to 2nd gear and back from 2nd to first gear. Periodic hard shifting would occur at highway speeds when attempting to pass. Vehicle was taken into the dealership. Deal had performed a smart learn on the transmission. Problem was corrected for approximately 50 miles. Problem came back and the dealership was contacted but they had no appointments available but stated vehicle was safe to drive. While at a stop light from red to green the vehicle lost all power, would not shift gears and check engine light came on. 7 codes were displayed all around the transmission valve cover and vales. Dealership said the vehicle was safe to drive and could not further diagnose the issue for several weeks. Drove the vehicle home approximately 7 miles and it would not shift out of 2nd gear. Called another dealership who said that the vehicle was not safe to drive and had it towed to the dealership. Dealer took it in replaces the valves and valve body but the vehicle has not been returned as issues are still persisting but dealership cannot locate reason for poor transmission performance and is tearing down the transmission. While driving at highway speed and winding the engine up to pass, the entire truck shudders and it feels as if the transmission slips. The vehicle does not accelerate normally and it feels as if the transmission has issues finding the passing gear. After passing and letting off the gas it continues to shudder for a while until you reach a steady speed. Occurs with or without a load. When loaded with weight in bed (such as a load of firewood) and/or towing a trailer the shudder/vibration and slipping feeling are more pronounced when just passengers are in the vehicle. Vehicle has about 3000 miles and the issue is occurring more frequently. started at about 2.5 k miles or so. Dealer was unable to duplicate on my first service call. I will take it back again when it happens.

Since new delivery, transmission appears to slip into neutral when vehicle is first started and accelerated forward. Was advised by Chevrolet service that this is a known issue, and that GM is aware of the issue, but nothing can be done about it. Other than annoying, if a quicker move forward is required, the vehicle accelerates in neutral then grabs, causing the vehicle to slip on wet pavement, which could lead to a loss of control.

On the first drive everyday, the transmission keeps slipping between 1st and 2nd gear and you have no power trying to accelerate until you find a gear. Took it to dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong. They said Chevrolet has a bulletin on this issue already. Not okay
