The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 MPH and turning into the driveway, the power steering and braking system malfunctioned. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction and the brake pedal had extended to the floorboard while depressed and the vehicle would not immediately stop. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the engine drive belt had fractured causing the failures. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 200,000.

THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A LOUD CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE WIPER ASSEMBLY AND THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000. I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 4X4 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD DURAMAX DIESEL TRUCK. I HAVE HAD MY HUBS FAIL TWICE LEAVING ME WITHOUT BRAKES. THIS LAST TIME MY HUB FAILED MY BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING. ABS SYSTEM FAILED. MY CHILDREN & I WERE VERY STARTLED. I AM A MOTHER OF SIX CHILDREN. I HAVE LITTLE FAITH IN MY VEHICLE BEING SAFE FOR CHILDREN OR ANYONE. $913.00 DOLLARS LATER IT IS FIXED. ALL NEW WIRING HARNESS & HUB.WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER. MY VEHICLE HAS IN THE 3 YEARS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT HAS SPENT APPROX. 8 MONTHS TOTAL BEING SERVICED FOR MALFUNCTIONS. STEERING HAS BEEN AN ISSUE THROUGHOUT ALSO. STEERING SHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED 2 TIMES ALONG WITH ENTIRE STEERING BOX. IT HAS HAD ENTIRE REAR END REPLACEMENT ALSO. I HAVE 3 YEARS OF SERVICE PROOF. MY LIST GOES ON AND ON. *TR THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLES SAFETY ISSUES STARTED AFTER THE LIFT WAS INSTALLED .

THE ENTIRE VEHICLE IS ALSO VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP ON THE ROAD. THE FRONT TIRES MADE A CLUNKING NOISE WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE HAS BRIDGESTONE DURAVIS M7732 TIRES, SIZE 245/75/R16. THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD, WHICH CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE ALSO HESITATES WHILE DRIVING. A MECHANIC AND THE DEALER PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH DUE TO THE STEERING COLUMN FAILURE. HE SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES AND THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED FRONT END AND ALIGNMENT DAMAGE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER PERFORMED A REALIGNMENT. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE RESULTS OF THE TEST SHOWED NO DEFECTS WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,325 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,800.

THE FRONT TIRES TURN IN TOWARDS EACH OTHER WHEN IT IS IN FOUR WHEEL DRIVE, AND CAUSES THE TRUCK TO DRIFT OFF WHERE IT WANTS TO. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO MEROLLIS CHEVY MANY TIMES, THEY HAVE FIXED IT A FEW THEN JUST TELL ME ITS NORMAL. FRIDAY FEB 8 2008 I GOT MY TRUCK BACK FROM MORAN CHEVY AFTER 2 DAYS BEING IN THE SHOP, AND THEY SAID EVERYTHING WAS GOOD LATER THAT DAY WHEN I HAD TO USE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM BUT WORSE THAN WHEN I TOOK IT IN, THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED SATURDAY AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE ROADS WHERE BAD AND I PUT THE TRUCK INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE THINKING IT WOULD BE SAFE SINCE THEY STATED THEY FIXED IT, IT WASN'T. AS I WAS GETTING ON THE FREE WAY THE TRUCK STARTED TO DRIFT OUT OF CONTROL AND SLAMMED INTO THE MEDIAN ON THE FREE WAY.
