AS I WAS TOPPING THE CURVE OF AN ENTRANCE RAMP, I FELT THE REAR OF THE TRUCK LOSE TRACTION ON THE WET ASPHALT AND THE TAIL STARTED TO MOVE. I LET OFF THE GAS PEDAL TO GAIN CONTROL, AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO PROPEL THE TRUCK AS IF THE GAS PEDAL WAS STUCK. THIS CAUSED THE REAR OF THE TRUCK TO CONTINUE AROUND AND SLAMMED THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK INTO A GUARD RAIL AND FINALLY CAME TO A STOP WITH TRUCK PARALLEL TO GUARD RAIL AND FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC. I WAS HOLDING THE BRAKES AS SOON AS I REALIZED THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF CONTROL. IF NOT FOR THE GUARD RAIL, MY FAMILY AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN PROPELLED OVER A STEEP EMBANKMENT WITH FATAL RESULTS. AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES THE VEHICLE WOULDNT STOP AND VEHICLE CONTINUED FORWARD. EVASIVE ACTION WAS TAKEN BY DRIVING OFF INTO A FIELD AND PLACING THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL STICKS INTERMITTENTLY AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR REPAIRS. HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT REMEDY THE PROBLEM. ALSO, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE STEERING PUMP FRACTURED WHICH RESULTED IN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST. THE HYDRO-BOOST POWER BRAKING WAS INCREASED AFTER THE BRAKING ASSIST WAS DEPLETED. THERE IS A NHTSA RECALL, # 05V005000, REGARDING THE POWER STEERING PUMP. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS.

I AM WRITING TO SEEK SOME ASSISTANCE WITH AN INFERIOR PRODUCT PRODUCED BY GM. I HAVE A CHEVY 2000 SILVERADO Z71 PICK UP THAT HAS PISTON SLAP STARTING AT AROUND 15K MILES AND PROGRESSIVELY WORSENED WHICH THE DEALER STATES IS NORMAL WEAR. THIS EXPENSIVE VEHICLE ALSO HAS A REAR END BANG INTO DRIVE AND THEN REVERSE AGAIN THE DEALER STATES IS NORMAL. RECENTLY I FIXED A SNAPPED CABLE FOR THE DRIVERS WINDOW WHICH THE SAME KIND OF CABLE WAS RECALLED FOR THE TAIL GATE CABLES. I HAVE REPLACED RECALL ITEMS FOR THE TAIL GATE CABLES, DRIVE SHAFT YOLK AND THE ABS SENSORS TO WHICH IT IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. ALL OF WHICH WHEN PRESENTED TO THE DEALER AND THE RESPONSE WAS IT IS NORMAL, UNTIL THE RECALL OCCURRED. IT SEEMS THE POLICY OF A COMPANY WHICH CREATES AN INFERIOR PRODUCT IS TO STATE, "IT IS NORMAL" TO THE CONSUMER UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT STEPS WHEN ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN AND MAKES THE DEALER OWN UP TO THE PROBLEMS WITH THE PRODUCTS AND FINALLY TREATS THE CONSUMER WITH MORE COMPASSION, AND TO SOME DEGREE "DECENCY". WHILE TRAVELING TO WORK ON A ICY ROAD, MY ACCELERATOR STUCK AND I COULDN'T ACCELERATE. IT THEN RELEASED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD WHERE IT STUCK AGAIN. I LOST CONTROL OF THE PICKUP AND SLID INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC WHERE I HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION. THE ACCELERATOR STICKING WAS THE CAUSE OF THE WRECK AND I BELIEVE THAT CHEVY IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. *JB

MY 2000 CHEVROLET 2500 SILVERADO THROTTLE STICKS SHUT WHEN FIRST STARTED. MINE HAS A 6.0 LITER V-8, BUT I KNOW SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT ENGINES AND MODEL YEARS WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. THE PEDAL STICKS SO HARD THAT IT TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORT TO MAKE IT RELEASE RESULTING IN LARGE BURST OF SPEED AND LOSS OF CONTROL. THE DEALERS REFUSE TO CORRECT EXCEPT UNDER WARRANTY WHICH I NO LONGER HAVE. THE FACTORY KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND DEALERS ACKNOWLEDGE AS WELL BUT WILL NOT CORRECT WITHOUT BEING PAID. FUEL THROTTLE BODY-IT SEEMS THAT THE GAS PEDAL IS HARD TO PUSH. WHEN WE SPOKE WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, ALL THEY WOULD SAY IS THAT THEY ARE AWARE THAT IT MIGHT BE A PROBLEM, BUT IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER HAS "CLEANED " THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY ON EACH OCCURRENCE. AFTER THE LAST SERVICE HE CHARGED $65.00 FOR THIS SERVICE. UPON CHECKING YOUR WEBSITE I SEE THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED SITUATION. I FEEL THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE MADE AWARE OF THIS POTENTIALY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, AND THAT A "FIX" SHOULD MADE AVAILABLE AT NO CHARGE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM. IN REGARD TO THE SECOND PROBLEM, I WAS VERY SURPRISED, AND DISAPPOINTED WHEN $1500 IN REPAIRS WAS NECESSARY TO REPAIR THE RING AND PINION ASSEMBLY IN THE REAR END.
