On 4/1/2023 my engine light went on. I had my nephews look at it. see pictures below for engine read and how oil mixed with antifreeze. Also note service paperwork. Gaskets were not up to quality to keep the oil sealed in its compartment. Manager called and tried to take care of issue because he only uses genuine parts but was told there was an issue with this part and until there were more fatalities or more people complained noting could be done. He was NOT happy. They did the best they could resorting to youtube videos and imagination. When I got it back, it was like brand new. Two days later, my engine light came on again. You will find the new engine reading which again had the oil mix with the antifreeze and no oil left. The engine would blow/seize or worse if I kept driving it. I am on disability and live alone. I cannot afford the unpredictability of having something happen to me on the road or where I am suppose to the money. I complained before to a manager at a dealership when I had a problem with my motor when my car was still new. He told me it was supposed to be like that. I keep revving in the middle of traffic lights and people were on my backend when I would get out of work at 3:00 am. The car was recalled two months later to replace many individual motor parts. I am too old and anxious to play these games. Please seriously have look into this please. Thank you for your time.
On Sunday, my transmission had a Complete Failure; according to the dealership, on Monday afternoon, we had the vehicle towed to Pinkerton in Salem 925 N Electric Rd, Salem, VA 24153 540-562-1337. The vehicle has only had 48,900. They said that there was a flaw possible in the transmission but have been waiting to see if they have a fix for the problem since it was possibly a manufacturing issue since the vehicle was service regularly at the dealership. We were on the highway when this was happening, and the vehicle what to stall out, so we had to come home. On Monday, we had the vehicle towed since it would not reverse out of the driveway.. No warning light, and the car was driving fine until 07/25/2021
Shift Lever (Gear Shifter) started getting stuck in park when I attempted to put it in drive. My vehicle key would also get stuck in the ignition. These two problems put my personal safety at risk because in not being able to shift from park to drive and (or) take my key out of the ignition, I would be left stranded out in public.

NOW AFTER BUYING A USED TRANSMISSION AND HAVING THE SHOP PUT IT IN, IT IS STILL NOT RESPONDING IN REVERSE, WHICH THE PART SOLD TO ME SHOULD HAVE WORKED. HEARING THIS MADE ME COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT IT CANT BE THE TRANSMISSION, BUT I KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING WHEN IT COMES TO VEHICLES. THE GEAR SHUFT ASSEMBLY IS THE ISSUE. THE BUTTON ON THE GEARSHIFT GETS STUCK. THE CAR CANNOT BE TURNED OFF. I REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFT ASSEMBLY ONCE. I MUST NOW REPLACE IT AGAIN.
GEAR SHIFT BUTTON STICKS. UPON ARRIVING AT WORK THIS PAST MONDAY, I TURNED MY CAR OFF BUT THE IGNITION WOULDN'T RELEASE THE KEY. LOOKING CLOSER I REALIZED THE SHIFT BUTTON HAD NOT POPPED OUT LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE. WHICH MEANS I DROVE 26 MILES IN A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE THE CAR TO MY DEALERSHIP ABOUT TWO MILES AWAY. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T GET TO IT FOR FIVE DAYS, OH I'D HAVE TO GET A RENTAL IN THE MEANTIME.I CALLED MY SON WHO MANAGES A NATIONWIDE AUTO PARTS STORE. APPARENTLY THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE SONIC VEHICLES. I DON'T KNOW IF ANY ACCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED BUT I CAN SAY IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE GEAR TO SHIFT WHILE DRIVING IT, OR KNOCKED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE IN PARK. THERE IS A COMMON FIX, REPLACE THE BUTTON. I'VE HAD THAT DONE BUT IT STILL STICKS. ALSO, I HAVE HAD SOME RECOMMENDED LUBRICANT APPLIED, BUT THAT HAS MADE MATTERS WORSE BECAUSE NOW IT'S DIFFICULT TO GET THE SHIFTER BUTTON TO DEPRESS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT, I HAVE TO LEAVE IN THE MORNING TO GO OUT OF TOWN THAT I CAN'T PUT OFF. I'M AFRAID.

THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT, ON A STREET AND I TURNED RIGHT, ONTO A JUNCTION WHEN THE ENGINE REVVED UP AND THEN DIED AS I ACCELERATED. I COASTED TO THE SIDE AND UP TO A FARM DRIVE.

THE CAR HAS LURCHED FORWARD OF ITS OWN ACCORD, MY BRAKES HAVE FAILED TO ENGAGE ON A SINGLE OCCASION, THE CAR HAS INTERMITTENTLY SHUT OFF DURING IDLE, THE CAR HAS ALSO HAD ISSUES WITH SHIFTING FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. A 3 YEAR BATTLE HAS YEILDED NO ANSWERS OR IMPROVEMENT; I WAS UNABLE TO UTILIZE THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE THE ISSUES COULDN'T BE DIAGNOSED. FINALLY THE CAR IS SHOWING CODES FOR WHAT I BELIEVE IS THE TRANSMISSION BASED ON HOW POORLY THE CAR IS RUNNING. I CAN PROVIDE INFORMATION FOR THE DEALERSHIPS I HAVE WORKED WITH; THEY HAVE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THE OBSCENE NUMBER OF VISITS I'VE MADE WITH THIS CAR.

MY RADIO WILL TURN ITSELF ON HOURS AFTER MY CAR HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. I'VE HAD TO TAKE OUT THE FUSE EVERYTIME I EXIT THE CAR SO THE BATTERY WON'T DRAIN. I DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BEGIN WITH FIXING THIS PROBLEM. IT'S BEEN GOING ON FOR A FEW WEEKS NOW. I'VE CALLED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CAR WAS PURCHASED AND THEY SAID IT WAS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM. PLEASE DON'T TELL ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS OUT OF POCKET. FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN THERE'S A LOT OF THESE CASES ON THE INTERNET. SO IT'S NOT JUST A RANDOM PROBLEM.

GEAR SHIFTER BUTTON GETS STUCK, NOT ALLOWING RELEASING KEY FROM IGNITION. DRIVER HAS TO HAVE LUBRICANT ON HAND AT ALL TIMES, TO GET SHIFTER BUTTON UNSTUCK. HOWEVER LATELY IT IS GETTING SOMEWHAT HARDER TO GET IT TO WORK

DURING THE LAST WEEK HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE KEY NOT RELEASING FROM STEERING COLUMN. THE LAST TWO DAYS GEAR SHIFTER GETTING VERY HARD TO SHIFT AND BUTTON STICKS AND KEY WILL NOT RELEASE, AND WHEELS WILL NOT LOCK. HAVE HAD TO LEAVE THE KEY IN CAR WHICH IS NOT A VERY SAFE THING TO DO. HAVE NOTICED TODAY THAT THE BUTTON AFTER AWHILE WILL POP OUT AND THEN THE KEY WILL RELEASE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BEFORE THINGS GET WORSE WHICH APPARENTLY IS GOING TO HAPPEN..

I HAVE A 2012 CHEVY SONIC LT AUTOMATIC WITH THE 1.8 LITER. THE CAR STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS AROUND 45,000 MILES AND HAS GOTTEN WORSE OVER TIME.THE CAR ON COLD START UPS HAS A GRINDING SOUND. THIS GRINDING MOST OF THE TIME ONLY HAPPENS ON COLD START UPS BUT DOES AT TIMES HAPPENS ON WARM START UPS. THIS SOUNDS LIKE METAL AGAINST METAL AND IT RATTLES.
