FAULTS OR SHORTS IN THE ELECTRICAL HARNESSES HAVE CAUSED PREMATURE FAILURE OF HEADLAMPS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE AUTO PARTS STORE THEY CONFIRM THAT MANY PEOPLE COME IN WITH THIS SIMILAR FAILURE. KNOWN ISSUE WITH SUPPLIER QUALITY ON GM FORUMS SUGGEST THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE MODEL LAUNCH. WE HAVE REPLACED ALL LIGHTS AND FUSES CHASING THE HARNESS AND NOT STILL HAVE THE DEALERSHIP STATING THAT THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL HARNESS SYSTEM NEEDS REPLACED.

SAFE LITE AUTO GLASS PLACED POLYEURETHANE GLUE ON THE REAR WINDOW AUTO DEFROSTER METAL CONTACT TO THE REAR WINDOW OF MY CHEVY 2007 LT SUBURBAN. I HIT THE REMOTE STARTER AND ALLOWED THE CAR TO RUN FOR 9 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WILL AUTO SHUT OFF AFTER 10 MINUTES. MY DAUGHTER SMELLED SMOKE IN THE CAR SO I INSERTED MY IGNITION KEY AND I ROLLED DOWN THE WINDOWS. I THEN BACKED MY CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE, PULLED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY AND MY REAR WINDOW EXPLODED INTO PIECES OF GLASS EVERYWHERE. I CALLED THE POLICE, FILED A POLICE REPORT, FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY (GEICO, REF CLAIM # : 0501768800101053) WHERE THE CLAIMS ADJUSTER FOUND THAT THE METAL CONTACT DID CAUSE A CHEMICAL REACTION WITH THE POLYURETHANE GLUE AS THE CAUSE. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE HAD BEEN THIRTY DIFFERENT CODES ON THE COMPUTER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE AIR BAG AND EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING LAMPS ALSO ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS CHAFED AND BURNED NEAR THE LIFT GATE THAT EXTENDED TO THE FUSE BOX. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS PROBLEMATIC FOR YEARS. THE DISPLAY WOULD LIGHT AND MESSAGE CENTER WOULD INDICATE ALL TIRES WERE LOW WHEN NONE WERE BY CHECK OF ACCURATE GAUGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS FINALLY BEEN ADDRESSED AT LEAST TEMPORARILY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS STAY ON. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO SHOP AND DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. TESTS HAVE BEEN RUN AND THE CODES RESET, TO NO AVAIL. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE SEEMS NORMAL, HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHT REMAINS USELESS FOR ANY "REAL" PROBLEM. 2007 SUBURBAN LTZ BATTERY HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DRAINED 2X WITHIN ONE MONTH. ONCE AFTER HAVING THE DOORS AND BACK OPEN FOR APPROX 10 MIN AND THE OTHER AT A CAR WASH WHILE THE STAFF CLEANED THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. ( APPROX 10 MIN). FIRST TIME DEALER BLAMED THE COLD AND THE LACK OF DRIVING AT THE TIME, HAD THE BATTERY TESTED AND THE BATTERY IS COMPLETELY DEAD. WILL BE TAKING TO DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. READING THE REVIEWS AND AM ASTONISHED THAT THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE BATTERY DRAIN ISSUE. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A FAMILY VEHICLE, BUT AM VERY CONCERNED WITH ITS RELIABILITY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION WAS CLEANING THE INTERIOR WITH THE DOORS OPEN AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ON. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. DROVE THE VEHICLE A SHORT DISTANCE AFTER RECHARGING THE BATTERY. VEHICLE FAILED TO START FOR RETURN TRIP. TOOK VEHICLE (2007 SUBURBAN LTZ TO DEALER FOR AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECK. THEY REPORTED THAT EVERYTHING CHECKED OUT OK. HAD ANOTHER INCIDENT OF NOSTART TRYING TO LEAVE HOME DURING A SNOW STORM. FINALLY REPLACED THE BATTERY AND HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. RANGE OF DATES IS FROM JAN 2008 THROUGH JAN 2010. *TR

NO CRASHES OR INJURIES. ON THE INDICATED DATE I HAD THE ENGINE TURNED OFF WITH THE KEYS IN THE IGNITION, LISTENING TO THE RADIO. AFTER A SHORT TIME APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES, I DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED. I HAVE BEEN CAREFUL NOT LET THESE INCIDENTS OCCUR AGAIN BUT IT HAS REPEATED AT LEAST 6 TIMES. THE MOST RECENT TIME WAS WHEN I HAD A FLAT TIRE REPLACED AND THE TIRE SERVICE TECH ATTEMPTED TO REPROGRAM THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM AT WHICH TIME, THE BATTERY WAS DRAINED IMMEDIATELY. THE REPROGRAMMING WAS IMPOSSIBLE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ELECTRICITY TO COMPLETE THE TPMS. I FOLLOWED THE OWNER'S MANUAL'S INSTRUCTIONS' AND HAD THE SAME RESULTS, A DEAD BATTERY AND UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT. I NOW HAVE A USELESS TPMS AND THE DANGER OF GETTING STRANDED WITH A DEAD BATTERY. THE DEALERSHIP OFFERS TO ATTEMPT TO FIX THE PROBLEM STARTING AT $99.00 +. A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD BE FREE OF THESE TYPES OF DEFECTS. I SHOULD NOT BE PAYING FOR THE REPAIR. *TR

SUDDENLY FROM WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT A MASSIVE FIRE BROKE OUT, THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FROM THE CITY OF HENDERSONVILLE TENNESSEE. RESPONDED AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. INITIAL INVESTIGATION FROM THE OFFICERS AT THE SCENE INDICATED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE COMING FROM THE CONTROL RELAY BOX ATTACHED TO THE LEFT SIDE FENDER WALL. VEHICLE IS A 2007 CHEVY SUBURBAN PURCHASED 10-31-2006 WITH 320,000 MILES ON VEHICLE POLICE & FIRE AT SCENE. *TR

SINCE THEN EVERY MONTH SAME AND THE DEALER CAN NOT FIND THE PROBLEM. THEY CHANGED 3 BATTERIES. TODAY 2/21/2007 IS THE 7TH TIME. I PAY $825/MTH + RENT A CAR EVERY MONTH -- THEY DO NOT PAY FOR RENT A CAR BECAUSE THEY START BLAME EACH OTHER. GMC IS BLAMING THE DEALER AND THE DEALER GMC. I'M IN THE MIDDLE AND I DON'T HAVE A CAR. WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 GMC SUBURBAN HOME WITH MY FAMILY. I LOOKED DOWN AND NOTICED I WAS DRIVING AT 90 MILES AN HOUR. WHAT A SURPRISE. THE SPEEDOMETER WAS READING WRONG. BY THE TIME I GOT HOME I WAS GOING 120 MILES AN HOUR PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY. THIS JUST HAPPENED AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN IT FIXED YET. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF NOT FIXED. I READ MANY BLOGS AND MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. I AM VERY LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS INJURED OR KILLED BY THIS SAFETY ISSUE. IN MY OPINION THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY A SAFETY RECALL. AFTER 2 DAYS AT DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPT., DECIDED IT WAS THE CDM. 15 DAYS LATER CDM CAME IN BUT, SERVICE TECHS FOUND 4-5 WIRES "BURNT UP". WIRING HARNESS IS BROKEN. AFTER 6 DAYS WIRING HARNESS IS IN AND BEING REPLACED CURRENTLY. DEALERSHIP IS NOT SURE THIS WILL SOLVE THE PROBLEM. *NM
