CRACKED DASHBOARD MAY CAUSE PLASTIC SHARDS IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS.

TAKATA RECALL: AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED. CRACK AND DASH BULGE ON PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DASH. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT USED IN 2013 FROM CABLE DAHMER BUICK GMC OF INDEPENDENCE, MO. LABEL ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR STATES IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN TEXAS, AND IT WAS REGISTERED IN TEXAS BY PREVIOUS OWNER.

THE DASH IS CRACKING IN MULTIPLE LOCATIONS WHICH IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY COULD SEND SHARDS OF PLASTIC FLYING THROUGH THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SOME TIME BUT IS CONTINUING TO GET WORSE, AND WE HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT IT HAS BROKEN ALL THE WAY ACROSS ONE OF THE DASH PANELS. I HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS APPEARS TO BE A ISSUE WITH MANY CHEVROLET VEHICLES.

TAKATA RECALL CHEVROLET IS OUT OF REPLACEMENTS
TAKATA RECALL, JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, GM IS NOT ABLE OR WILLING TO REPLACE THE TAKATA INFLATORS WHICH BRINGS ME TO THE CRACKED DASHBOARDS. MINE IS BADLY CRACKED INCLUDING WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD COME OUT, WHICH REALLY WORRIES ME IF MY GRANDKIDS ARE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND THERE IS A COLLISION. I PRAY THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN.

TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET SUBURBAN 1500. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS). THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER (VIVA CHEVROLET, 5915 MONTANA AVE, EL PASO, TX 79925) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-222-1020 AND COULD NOT CONFIRM WHEN THE PARTS WERE TO BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL SO I CAN ONLY COMPLAIN AFTER SOMETHING HAPPENS??? THIS IS TAKING TOO LONG AND I HAVE CHILDREN IN MY CAR.
DASH IS CRACKED IN 6 DIFFERENT SPOTS; 3 OF THE CRACKS BEING AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY, THE DASH WOULD SHATTER THUS CAUSING SHARP PROJECTILES TO BE DISPENSED IN THE VEHICLE CABIN POTENTIALLY CAUSING SERIOUS INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS. THE CRACKS START DOWN WHERE THE BOLTS CONNECT TO THE BODY (THEY EXTEND FURTHER DOWN THAN WHAT CAN BE SEEN IN THE PHOTOS).

THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED IN TWO LOCATIONS, AT THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG COVER, AND IN FRONT OF THE INSTRUMENT COLUMN. THIS IS GREATLY CONCERNING BECAUSE IT COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO MALFUNCTION, OR CAUSE OTHER DEBRIS FROM THE DASHBOARD TO COME LOOSE IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED. WHEN IN MOTION THE DASHBOARD VIBRATES VIOLENTLY BECAUSE THE TWO CRACKS HAVE COMPROMISED THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY AND SUPPORT. THE VIBRATING ALSO CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT RATTLE.

DASHBOARD HAS BEGUN TO CRACK IN NUMEROUS AREAS, 1 AREA THAT IS VERY CONCERNING IS RIGHT BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH I FEEL CONCERNED THAT IF IT WERE TO INFLATE THE DASHBOARD WOULD WOULD SEND PROJECTILES FLYING. THE DASH IS ALSO CRACKING SEVERELY ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. UPON RESEARCH THIS IS A ISSUE THAT THE INTERNET IS FLOODED WITH AND GM REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED GM IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE AND THEY REFUSE TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY ALTHOUGH AT A DEALETHIS SHIP WHEN I WENT LOOKING AROUND 4 OUT OF THE 5 VEHICLES FOR SALE ON THE LOT HAD THE SAME CRACKS IN THE SAME PLACES. I NEED HELP FROM NHTSA TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE MY FAMILY IS PUT IN DANGER IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE ACCIDENT. THIS CRACK SEEMED TO OCCUR WHEN THE WEATHER GOT COLD, I TURNED ON MY HEAT AND THE DESK IMMEDIATELY CRACKED. THIS IS FLAWED EQUIPMENT AND WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.

THE DASHBOARD IS CRACKING IN SEVERAL SPOTS. THE MAIN CONCERN IS THAT IT IS CRACKING AT THE CORNER OF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AREA. IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY IT COULD BE PUNCTURED OR CUT DURING DEPLOYMENT DUE TO THIS CRACKED DASHBOARD.

THE DASHBOARD HAS THREE SEVERE LONG CRACKS THAT RUN INTO WHERE THE AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY AND ONE THAT RUNS VERTICALLY STRAIGHT UP TO THE STEERING WHEEL.THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECT. THE EDGES ARE VERY SHARP. A PIECE HAS CRACKED AND FELL INTO THE A/C VENT. I AM VERY CONCERNED THE DASH COULD CUT THE AIRBAG AS IT PASSES BY THE SHARP EDGES OR SHARP EDGES COULD SEVERELY CUT DRIVER OR PASSENGER AS AIRBAG PUSHED BROKEN DASH INTO PASSENGER OR DRIVER.THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
