AFTER SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD GM ISSUE ESPECIALLY WITH 2008-09 GM SUV TYPE OF VEHICLES. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE ACTUATOR MOTOR FAILS. IT IS ALSO MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS DUE TO A VERY INEXPENSIVE ELECTRICAL ACTUATOR IS USED FOR THE LOCKING MECHANISM.
