The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. The contact stated while driving at approximately 40 MPH, the power steering became soft, and the vehicle started to lose forward momentum. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the engine failed to respond, and the vehicle continued to lose forward momentum. The contact stated that the check engine and several other unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact pulled over and turned off and restarted the vehicle and the vehicle started to function normally. The contact stated the failure had been intermittent but had become a recurring failure while driving at various speeds. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the failure was with the electrical system; however, there was no fix for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Battery continues to die there is something continuing to pull power believed to be an ecm issue other models like mine had a similar recall but my vehicle wasn't apart of it
UNKNOWN: The heater-AC blower wire harness female clip and has melted three times with replacement parts. While it was on I was feeling for it and I can feel a strong pulsing so it has a lot of power. The wire harness gauge is week and small. Cheap parts the manufacturer made on a budget. I have heard many complaints and and worries from others that feel it can catch on fire and would be a dangerous distraction driving the freeway while it starts to melt it is a strong obnoxious fume and smells like it an catch fire. Also if you loose your heater on the freeway in the cold your windows fog up.
The first problem was the cluster , it completely went off . I took it to a mechanic he said he fixed it . It works for one day then completely shut off again, I can not see what gear I am in , any alert that I need to see for warning and saftey completely off in the cluster . . Shortly after the first issue I noticed 2 cracks on my dashboard ,on both driver and passenger side of the vehicle . I had not put a lot of thought into that as it didn’t seem like a safety concern up until I’ve read several post of others with same issue . ( I’m guessing a fire should be expected anytime because of others stories I have read off here the cracks have lead to fires ) Another issue is I have to add quart oil to my Tahoe atleast every 2 -3 weeks . I’ve taken it to have that fixed and each time was told there is no leak . I get the works done each oil change and still have to add oil 2 weeks after a new air filter oil etc .. a major issue that could have been a major wreck was While driving down a highway around 11 pm .. my car started flickering lights inside and outside of my tahoe and it started making a loud click sound saying system is shutting down ,my steering wheel locked up and all power to vehicle completely shut down .period . No power to anything at all what so ever . The battery was fairly new . Well We had it towed back to town for a mechanic to look at the next day … he replaced the alternator and checked everything . Said he couldn’t see anythjng and told me I should sale it right away He warned me of a lot of issues he keeps seeing with Tahoe . Well now my driver door will not open at all I have to crawl through the passenger side door to get in and out of my car . With all these serious issues still going on I m very scared to be in my car , not getting my alerts and being trapped inside . Please someone point me in the right direction I have 5 kids this is not safe !
OUR CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 100K MILES AND LOST ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING TO THE SPEEDOMETER AS WELL AS RADIO, LIGHTS, ETC... WE EVEN TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO IS ALSO HAVING TROUBLES FIGURING IT OUT. PAID OVER $500 TO HAVE THEM CHANGE THE BCM AND IGNITION SWITCH STILL HAVING ISSUES TO THE POINT IT WILL NOT START.

THE DASH CRACKED ON PASSENGER SIDE 80 K.THIS VEHICLE IS VERY WELL-MAINTAINED IT LOOKS LIKE IT ROLLED OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR. TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL WHAT A JOKE. SO YOU RECALL THE VEHICLE BUT YOU DON'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX IT. THE VEHICLE HAS A DEFECT IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, I STARTED NOTICING IT WHEN I WOULD FILL UP WITH FUEL. IT HAS TO BUILD THE PRESSURE UP BEFORE IT'LL START. MANY MECHANICS TOLD ME THIS IS A DEFECT. KAT FRIDAY NIGHT I RAN AN ERRAND. PULLED IN THE DRIVEWAY EXITED THE VEHICLE HIT THE KEY FOB TO LOCK THE VEHICLE. I GO OUT THE NEXT MORNING AND I CAN SMELL BURNT WIRES. THE WINDOW/POWER LOCKS/MIRRORS MODULE ON DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE. LUCKILY IT SHORTED OUT THE MODULE, BUT IT BURNT UP AND MELTED ONE OF THE CONNECTORS. THIS JUST HAPPENED SO I HAVE NOT HAD TIME TO FIGURE THE CAUSE. BURNS 2 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. GENERAL MOTORS THREW ME UNDER THE BUS IN 1988 ON A BRAND NEW PICK UP TRUCK WITH THE DEXCOOL ANTIFREEZE THAT ATE EVERY GASKET OUT OF THE ENGINE AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT I REPLACED IT AT MY COST WITH NO HELP FROM GENERAL MOTORS. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH THESE PEOPLE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF ALL THESE PROBLEMS THEY GOT TOP DOLLAR FOR THESE VEHICLES. ALL OF THESE OCCURRED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING STILL. THE DOOR HANDLE ON PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAVE CUT SEVERAL PEOPLE. IT'S LIKE A RAZOR. A BRAND NEW VEHICLE HAS HAD A PIECE OF TAPE WRAPPED AROUND THE DOOR HANDLE HOW EMBARRASSING.

I HAVE AN AIRBAG FAILURE ON MY DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT WORKING. ON SATURDAY 11/21/2020 THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR KEPT SAYING DOOR WAS OPEN WHEN IT WAS ENTIRELY CLOSED. LATER ON THAT MORNING, THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD COLD AC WHILE THE REST OF THE CAR WAS THROWING HOT AIR ON IT'S OWN. BECAUSE THE CAR KEPT SAYING THE PASSENGER DOOR WAS OPEN, INSIDE LIGHTS DID NOT TURNED ON. REPLACED THE DOOR MODULE AND ISSUE NOT FIXED. BATTERY DRAINS AT LEAST TWICE A DAY. HAD TO REPLACE THE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SENSOR MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT STILL GOES OFF RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING AND FIX ITSELF. THIS CAR IT'S USED ONLY TO DRIVE LESS THAN 10 MILES PER WEEK. IT IS SO ANNOYING WIHT THIS ISSUE JUST TO GET IT OUT AND BACK HOME. I REPLACED THE BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, OIL PRESSURE SENSOR, PASANGER DOOR SENSOR, AC FILTERS ALL THIS IN LESS THAN 1 YEAR AND IT'S ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

THE O2 SENSOR CAN LOSE FROM ITS HOUSING. I HAD NEVER DONE ANY REPAIRS TO THIS O2 SENSOR. WHICH IT IS LOCATED AT POSITION BANK 1 SENSOR 2. THE SENSOR CONNECTION CAME LOSE FROM WHERE IT IS HELD ON TO THE FRAME. IT CAUSED THE WIRING TO GET SLACK AND WRAP AROUND THE DRIVE SHAFT. THIS HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. I STARTED TO HEAR A NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. AS I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE SUV I SEEN THE O2 SENSOR WAS CAUGHT ON THE SHAFT. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A ONCE TIME INCIDENT THAT HAD OCCURRED TO ME. BUT AS I WENT TO THE SALVAGE YARD TO GET A HARNESS. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE MODEL TRUCKS.

FIRST THE HORN WAS ALL OF A SUDDEN BLARING WITHOUT ANYONE BEING IN IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT 2.5 YEARS AGO AND NOW I DO NOT HAVE A HORN, AND NONE OF THE CONTROLS WORK ON THE STEERING WHEEL INCLUDING THE RADIO AND CRUISE CONTROL (I QUESTION IF THE AIR BAG IS ACTIVE ON THE DRIVER SIDE BECAUSE OF THIS). THEN, THE REAR LIFT GATE ALL OF A SUDDEN WILL NOT OPEN (MAYBE LAST WINTER). 6 MONTHS AGO, THE INDICATORS ON THE DASH ARE OUT SO I CAN'T SEE MY ODOMETER OR ANYTHING ELSE YOU CAN ACCESS ON THE DASH. RECENTLY THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW JUST RANDOMLY FELL OFF THE TRACK. RECENTLY, EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR DOES NOT WORK ELECTRICALLY: POWER DOOR LOCK, AND POWER WINDOW. AND I FIND THAT GM WILL NOT ADDRESS AT A MINIMUM THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES? NOT GOOD.

MY 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE WILL SPORADICALLY DISPLAY TWO M.I.L. 'S - SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND SERVICE STABILITRAK. I HAVE SPENT CLOSE TO $4,000 ON DIFFERENT PARTS, AS WELL AS HAVING THE HEADS COMPLETELY REBUILT ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO. THE ONLY TROUBLE CODES IT SHOWS WHEN HOOKED TO A SCANNER ARE A P0300 (GENERIC MISFIRE DETECTED) P0301 (MISFIRE CYLINDER 1) AND 0443 (EVAP EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM VALVE CIRCUIT). AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS OF RESEARCH ONLINE, IT IS BLATANTLY OBVIOUS THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL THOUSAND PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES. IT APPEARS THERE IS NO DIRECT SUREFIRE RESOLUTION. BUT RATHER A COMMON OCCURRENCE THAT IS SOMETIMES VERY LABOR INTENSIVE AND EXTREMELY INVASIVE TO TRACK DOWN THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT CONTROL SWITCH, ADDED A SECONDARY BACKUP BATTERY AS WELL AS ADDITIONAL POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE CABLES, REPLACE THE PLUGS, PLUG WIRES AND IGNITION COIL PACKS. IT SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE AND AT THIS POINT I HAVE AS MUCH MONEY INVESTED IN REPAIRING THE VEHICLE AS I HAVE SPENT PURCHASING IT. I AM NOT THE TYPE OF PERSON TO SELL THIS TRUCK AND LET'S HAVE THE MISFORTUNE OF DEALING WITH SUCH ISSUES BUT AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS SPENT AND DISCOVERING THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AMONGST CHEVROLET / GM SUVS AND TRUCKS, PARTICULARLY WITH THE 5.3 L ENGINE, I FEEL GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD AT LEAST COVER THE EXPENSE OF REPAIRING IT OR LET ME TRADE IT IN TOWARDS A NEWER MODEL WITH A SUFFICIENT CREDIT APPLIED. THE ISSUES I'M EXPERIENCING SEEM TO HAPPEN WHEN I AM STOPPING OR ACCELERATING ABOVE 40 MILES PER HOUR. I GOOGLED THESE PROBLEMS AND IT APPEARS GM RECALLED MODELS FROM 2014 AND 2015 WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THEY NEED TO RECALL ALL IMPACTED MODELS. IF THIS CAUSES THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER, IT COULD CAUSE A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

THE GARAGE DOOR, GARAGE ENTRY DOOR AND DOWNSTAIRS BASEMENT WERE DAMAGED AD POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT ON THEM. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY SIGNS OF OVER HEATING, OR SMOKING, AND ANY TYPE OF BURNING SMELLS.

DEFECTIVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER - THIS GAUGE CLUSTER HAS BEEN NOTORIOUS FOR BEING DEFECTIVE IN A GREAT MANY OF GM VEHICLES. I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THE CLUSTER IN MY 2005 TAHOE BECAUSE GM WOULDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THAT SHOULD NEVER BE THE CASE. WHEN THESE CLUSTERS FAIL THEY CAN LEAD TO MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF INJURIES DUE TO IMPROPER READINGS WHICH DRIVERS DEPEND ON TO MAKE CORRECT DRIVING DECISIONS. THE U.S. GOVERNMENT SHOULD MANDATE THAT ANY DEVICE PLACED INTO A VEHICLE WHICH GIVES DRIVERS INFORMATION FOR WHICH THEY DEPEND ON ACCURACY TO OPERATE THAT VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED FOR REPLACEMENT NO MATTER THE AGE OF THE VEHICLE AS THIS IS IN ITS SIMPLEST TERMS A MATTER OF SAFETY. SEVERAL PHONE CALLS AND 1 TRIP TO THE DEALERSHIP INDICATES THIS IS A "WEAR AND TEAR" STANCE THE COMPANY IS TAKING WITH THIS ISSUE. I FOUND OUT MY CLUSTER WAS DEFECTIVE WHEN I RECEIVED A SPEEDING TICKET WHEN MY GAUGE CLEARLY INDICATED A PROPER SPEED LIMIT ON CRUISE CONTROL. THE OFFICER STATED THAT I WAS GOING 17 MPH FASTER THAN WHAT WAS ALLOWED. THIS WAS MY FIRST TICKET SO I WAS LET OFF WITH A WARNING BUT TO HAVE MY VEHICLE CHECKED IF THAT WAS TO BE MY REASONING. DEFECTIVE DEVICES SUCH AS THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE AS THE NORM.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT OBTAINED AN ONSTAR REPORT TO SPECIFY THE DIAGNOSTIC FAILURE CODES THAT FLASHED EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AS THE ELECTRICAL SHORTAGE AND THE AIR BAG FAILURE PROGRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V381000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 218,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS ON THE VEHICLE HAVE BEEN A NIGHTMARE. THE IGNITION WILL AT TIMES FAIL TO TURN OFF DESPITE REMOVING THE KEY. THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL POP OUT OF CRUISE MODE FOR NO REASON AND WILL OFTEN FAIL TO REENGAGE IMMEDIATELY. LITHIA CHEVROLET IN REDDING REFUSES TO DISCUSS REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT, STATING IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. I ALSO HAVE A RECALLED TAKATA AIRBAG THAT LITHIA REFUSES TO REPLACE.

I BEEN HAVING PROBLEM OUT OF EVERYTHING FOR A WHILE MY LIGHTS ON

THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE DIGITAL INFORMATION CENTER (DIC) LOCATED IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) HAS STOPPED WORKING. HOWEVER, ALL OF THE NON-DIGITAL GAUGES SUCH AS SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, ETC STILL WORK PROPERLY. ALL OF THE DIGITAL DISPLAYED INFO SUCH AS ODOMETER, GEAR SELECT, MPG, TIRE PSI, ETC, IS NO LONGER VISISBLE. THIS DEFECT/MALFUNCTION OCCURRED UNEXPECTEDLY ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO. THE DEFECT/MALFUNCTION OCCURED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED (NOT MOVING) IN MY DRIVEWAY. I SIMPLY GOT IN AND TURNED THE KEY ON TO START THE ENGINE, AND THE DIC WAS NOTICEABLY BLANK. I LOOKED ON-LINE AND CALLED SEVERAL DEALERSHIPS FOR INFO REGARDING REPAIRS,, AND I QUICKLY LEARNED THAT THIS EXACT DEFECT/MALFUNCTION IS EXTREMELY COMMON AMONG 2007-2016 CHEVROLET AND GMC VEHICLES. GM SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE BY ISSUING A RECALL. ALSO, FOR NO REASON AND WITHOUT ANY CAUSE, MY DASHBOARD CRACKED ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THIS IS ALSO A VERY COMMON DEFECT WITH MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE MAKE/MODEL. IF THE AIRBAGS WERE TO DEPLOY, WOULD THEY DEPLOY PROPERLY? AND EVEN IF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOY PROPERLY, IM AFRAID SHARDS OF THE PLASTIC FROM DASHBOARD WILL SHOOT ALL OVER THE CAR RESULTING IN INJURY.

LASTLY THE DASH HAS BEEN CRACKING . THE CRACK STARTS FROM THE DRIVERSIDE AND ENDS IN THE CENTER OF THE FRONT DASH. I HAPPEN TO GET IN THE CAR AND NOTICE A CRACK IN THE DASH THAT GRADUALLY STARTED TO GET BIGGER. *TR

THE VEHICLE HAS A FAULTY THROTTLE BODY AND THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR THAT CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MODE WHICH BASICALLY MEANS THE VEHICLE DOESN'T MOVE. THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE VEHICLE IS INOPERABLE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME DOZENS OF TIMES, IN INTERSECTIONS, AND I HAVE TO ROLL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ADDITIONALLY, THE INTAKE GASKETS LEAK ALLOWING FLUID INTO THE ENGINE. THE DASH CRACKED. WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED THE AIR RIDE SHOCKS (LTZ MODEL), THE CONNECTOR WILL WEAR A HOLE IN THE SHOCK. WE HAVE ALSO REPLACED BROKEN MOTOR MOUNTS AND TIE ROD ENDS. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS CONSTANTLY RUNNING HOT AND WE REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND RADIATOR. THE VEHICLE LEAKS OIL AND OUR MECHANIC SAID THAT IT'S THE REAR MAIN SEAL THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

TOOK IT TO A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE THROTTLE BODY WAS STICKING AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE OVER THE LAST FEW WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS NOW STALLING ON A REGULAR BASIS (ABOUT 1-3 TIMES EVERY TIME IT IS DRIVEN). THE PROBLEM IS WORSE WHEN IT RAINS A LOT OUTSIDE. TODAY MY POWER LIFT GATE DECIDED TO OPEN SUDDENLY ON ITS OWN WHEN I LOCKED THE CAR AND STEPPED ABOUT 2 FEET AWAY, IN JUST THAT MOMENT A PASSING CAR IN THE PARKING LOT WAS COMING BY AND HAD TO SUDDENLY STOP TO AVOID HITTING MY NOW RAISING POWER LIFT GATE. NONE OF THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR FUNCTIONS WORKED. I REMOVED THE DRIVERS SIDE MASTER SWITCH AND THE WIRING HARNESS PLUG HAD BURNT OUR AND MELTED ITSELF TO THE MASTER SWITCH. THE SHORT DESTROYED BOTH THE MASTER SWITCH AND WIRING HARNESS THE CAR DID NOT TRIP ANY FUSES IN THE PROCESS. THIS WAS A VERY SCARY SITUATION CONSIDERING THE CAR COULD OF COMPLETELY CAUGHT FIRE IN MY DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS NO MOISTURE IN THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. I HAVE ONLY TOWED A TRAILER TWICE WITH MY TAHOE, SO OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT SOMEWHERE. SECOND ISSUE IS THAT THERE ARE 2 CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD; ONE IN THE AREA OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG, AND THE OTHER ON THE BACKSIDE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE STEERING COLUMN. THESE BOTH OCCURRED ABOUT THE SAME TIME, AROUND 100,000 MILES. OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A WIDESPREAD ISSUE. GM NEEDS TO BE REPLACING THESE DASHBOARDS ON THEIR DIME AND NOT EXPECTING THE CUSTOMER TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE. SHOULD THE AIRBAG SYSTEM HAVE TO DEPLOY, PIECES OF PLASTIC WOULD BECOME PROJECTILES THAT WOULD HARM ANYONE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE THIRD ISSUE I HAVE, THAT BEGAN TODAY AT 109,000 MILES, ARE INVOLVING THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT WORK, THE LIGHT THAT INDICATES WHICH GEAR YOU ARE IN DID NOT COME ON, AND THE SEAT BELT LIGHT AND AIR BAG LIGHT WERE ON EVEN THOUGH I WAS WEARING MY SEAT BELT. WE OCCASIONALLY HEAR ITS CREAKING SOUND WHEN WE DRIVE IT, AND WHEN WE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN ABOUT IT, THEY SAID IT IS JUST BECAUSE IT DOESN'T USE A BRAKE PAD THAT'S WHY. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO SOMETIMES MAKE NOISE WHEN TURNING, BUT THEIR COMMENT IS UNABLE TO VERIFY THE CAUSE AT THIS TIME. CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL ISSUES WITH VEHICLE AND REQUEST INFORMATION ON RECALLS, SERVICE BULLETINS, WARRANTIES OR LEMON LAW *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL DOWN SHIFTED TO 2ND WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ON HILLS, THE STARTER WOULD HANG, THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE AC COMPRESSOR. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. HOWEVER, IT CONTINUED TO HESITATE AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, AS WELL AS A VIBRATION. THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL, THE IDLE NEEDLE WOULD RISE, WHILE AT A STOP, THE BATTERY DRAINED, THE ENGINE STALLED, THE DASH WAS CRACKED, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES, THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR WAS INOPERABLE, THE WEATHER STRIP HAD COME OFF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE U-JOINT. *JB
I HAD DRIVEN THE VEHICLE FOR 50 MINUTES. PARKED TURNED THE IGNITION OFF FOR 30 MINUTES. NEXT NEIGHBOR KNOCKED ON THE DOOR AND SAID "YOUR TAHOE IS ON FIRE". WE CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT BECAUSE WE COULD NOT PUT THE FLAMES OUT. FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK ONLY FIVE MINUTES TO GET THERE. ONCE THE FIRE WAS OUT WE NOTICED THAT THE TAHOE WAS TOTALED. FROM THE NAKED EYE IT LOOKS LIKE THE ELECTRICAL FIRE STARTED ON THE DRIVER SIDE UNDER THE WINDSHIELD WIPER. THERE'S HUGE HOLE IN THE DASHBOARD BEHIND THE LEFT WINDSHIELD WIPER. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 65 DAYS. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT BECAUSE I REALLY LIKE THE 2007 TAHOE. *TR
PEELING INTERIOR PAINT - TWO OF THE FOUR DOORHANDLES PAINT IS PEELING CAUSING SHARP AND JAGGED EDGES RESULTING IN CUT FINGERS. BRAKES - ALL BRAKES AND ROTORS BAD AT 39,000 MILES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. WAY TOO EARLY! NOW THE BRAKES SQUEAL ALL THE TIME, ARE SOFT AND HAD TO BE FLUSHED 2 TIMES WITHIN 6 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR - I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPT. AT THE DEALER (MORENO VALLEY CHEVROLET) ADVISING THEM THAT THE DOOR LOCKS ARE NOT PROPERLY OPERATING WITH THE KEY FOB AND THAT THE SOUND OF WIND WAS/IS VERY LOUD AND THE TIRES ARE MAKING NOISE. WELL , THEY REPLACED, RESET, AND WHATEVER ELSE TO THE DOOR LOCKS - AND THE ELECTRONIC FOB STILL DID NOT (AND DOES NOT) WORK. EVEN AFTER THREE (OR FOUR) ATTEMPTS TO RESOLVE THIS - I HAVE TO USE THE KEY, THE FOB DOES NOT WORK. THE DVD PLAYER PLAYS AT WILL. AT ONE OF THOSE VISITS - WHERE I ADVISED OF EXCESSIVE NOISE, THE DEALER REPLACED THREE OF MY TIRES AND MY DVD PLAYER - WITHOUT MY REQUEST. THE SERVICE TECH SAYS - "OH, THEY HOOKED YOU UP." I ASKED AND ASKED "WHY" THEY REPLACED THESE THINGS AND NO ONE, INCLUDING THE SERVICE MANAGER, HAD AN ANSWER. WHILE DRIVING WITH CRUISE CONTROL ENABLED TRAVELING AT 70 MPH WITH RPM AT 2000 RPM, THE 2007 TAHOE SURGED, JERKED IF YOU WILL, AS IF THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS TELLING THE VEHICLE IT WAS GOING TOO SLOW. HITTING THE BRAKES DID NOT DISENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL. ENGINE RACED TO 4000 RPM AND LOCKED AT 4000 RPM! SUCCESSFULLY SHIFTED VEHICLE TO NEUTRAL AND WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD AND I CAN ONLY HOPE THE NEXT PERSON THIS HAPPENS TO WILL BE AS LUCKY. HAD TO TURN VEHICLE OFF TO REDUCE ENGINE RPM FROM THE 4000 RPM IT WAS LOCKED ON. CALLED ON STAR AND INFORMED THEM OF WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY RAN A TEST WHICH INDICATED NO PROBLEM. VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART ON FIRST FOUR ATTEMPTS. DISABLED CRUISE CONTROL BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL, WHICH WAS GLOWING YELLOW, AND THE ENGINE STARTED. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE CONTACTED, FILE 71-965035291 AND GM REFUSED TO REPLACE CRUISE CONTROL AS THE LOCAL DEALER IN SAN ANGELO TX INDICATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE CONCERN. IF SHOULD BE NOTED IT WAS 104 DEGREES AND THE ENGINE HAD BEEN RUNNING FOR OVER AN HOUR AND 100 MILES WITH THE VEHICLE LOADED WITH 5 PEOPLE AND LUGGAGE. THE LOCAL DEALER DID NOT DUPLICATE THE EXACT CONDITIONS AND INSTEAD DID A TEST DRIVE OF 60 MILES WITHOUT THE LOAD OR HIGH TEMPERATURE. TALKED TO SARAH AT 866 790 8601 EXT 12869 AND SHE PASSED ME ON TO VICTORIA, DAVID, AND THEN BACK TO VICTORIA. I AM AN EQUIPMENT ENGINEER AND VICTORIA DID NOT APPEAR TO HAVE ANY TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE. GM DID NOT TAKE MY OFFER TO REMOVE MY CRUISE CONTROL SO THEY COULD BENCH TEST THE UNIT AND ADD HEAT TO DRIVE THE FAULTY COMPONENT TO FAIL. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED IT HOWEVER LESS THAN TWO MONTHS LATER, I HAD TROUBLE STARTING IT AGAIN; THIS TIME THE CAR WOULD TAKE A FEW SECONDS TO TURN OVER WHEN I TURNED THE IGNITION AND SOMETIMES I WOULD HAVE TO TURN THE KEY BACK AND THEN TRY AGAIN BEFORE IT STARTED. I TOOK MY TRUCK BACK IN TO THE DEALER AND THIS TIME THEY REPLACED THE STARTER. OVER THE LAST YEAR, THE IGNITION STILL DOES THE SAME THING AND IF I SIT AND LISTEN TO THE RADIO WITH THE CAR OFF, THE BATTERY WILL DIE REQUIRING A JUMP START. THE BATTERY WENT DEAD AGAIN ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO AND WHILE WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE ME A JUMP I TRIED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE CAR STARTED. TWO DAYS AGO, I STARTED MY TRUCK AND ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS WERE DEAD. I CHECKED THE FUSES AND THEY WERE FINE SO I STARTED RESEARCHING ONLINE TO DISCOVER MANY MORE COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME NATURE DETAILING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE BATTERY, STARTER AND INSTRUMENT PANEL. TWO DAYS AFTER THE INSTRUMENTS WENT OUT, AGAIN THE TRUCK WOULDN'T START WHEN SITTING WITH MY TRUCK OFF AND MY CELL PHONE PLUGGED INTO THE CHARGER. I WAITED 20 MINUTES AND TURNED THE IGNITION AND AFTER IT CLICKED A FEW TIMES, THE CAR STARTED AND THE INSTRUMENTS CAME BACK ON. I'M TIRED OF THE DEALER TELLING ME THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE WHEN IT'S CLEARLY AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT AND OTHERS ARE AND HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH 2007 TAHOE'S. VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AND MAX OUT AT FUEL CUT-OFF. ACCELERATION IS UNRESPONSIVE TO BRAKE APPLICATION TO INCLUDE 100% APPLICATION, RESULTING IN SMOKE AND ODOR. VEHICLE CANNOT BE STOPPED OTHER THAN PLACING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND TURNING THE IGNITION OFF. UPON RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, RPM WILL IMMEDIATELY CLIMB TO IN EXCESS OF 5000 RPM. ACCELERATION PROBLEMS NORMALLY OCCUR AT HIGHER SPEEDS BUT HAVE OCCURRED ALSO ON CITY STREETS. THE PROBLEM THEN RESETS ITSELF AT ITS DISCRETION. CHEVEROLET HAS BEEN "WORKING" ON FINDING THE PROBLEM SINCE SEPTEMBER, TOTAL IN EXCESS OF 90 DAYS. I WAS PROVIDED WITH A VEHICLE DATA RECORDER (VDR) TO IMAGE THE ISSUE. VDR HAS A CABLE PLUGGED INTO VEHICLE COMPUTER THE DANGLES BETWEEN THE GAS/BRAKE PEDAL AND DRIVER POSING AN ADDITIONAL HAZARD. VEHICLE IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD LIKELY TO RESULT IN GREAT BODILY INJURY AND/OR DEATH. I AM UNABLE TO AND HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO ENJOY AND UTILIZE THE VEHICLE FOR THE PURPOSES TO WHICH IT WAS INTENDED FOR/PURCHASED AND HAVE BEEN PLACED IN A SEVERELY RISKY POSITION BY CHEVROLET. IN ADDITION, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IN INCLEMENT WEATHER HAS BEEN COMPROMISED DUE TO FAILURE OF THE STABILITRAC WHERE IT ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES WITHOUT APPLICATION OF THE BUTTON. HOWEVER, WHEN STABILITRAC PROBLEM SURFACED YET AGAIN, PROBLEM WAS WITNESSED BY CHEVROLET SERVICE REP BUT NO WORK COULD BE DONE DUE TO AN OPEN TICKET WITH GMC REGARDING THE ACCELERATION ISSUE. CHEVROLET HAS DOWNLOADED IMAGES/INFORMATION FROM THE VDR AND HAS STATED THAT THERE IS/ARE ISSUES AND RESET AND RETURNED THE VDR TO ME REQUESTING AGAIN THAT I TAKE MORE IMAGES WHEN MY VEHICLE IS STUCK IN ACCELERATION AND TO BE CAREFUL. INITIAL ATTEMPT FOR THIS REPAIR IN SEPTEMBER NOTED "DRIVABLE CONCERN." PROBLEM IS RECURRING FROM 0-9 INCIDENTS EACH DAY. I AM CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF OTHERS AS WELL AS MYSELF. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE INDICATORS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WOULD SPORADICALLY FLICKER ON AND OFF. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING ODOR. THERE WAS ALSO PROPERTY DAMAGE TO THE SIDING AND BRICKS ON THE HOUSE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE, FILED A REPORT, AND STATED THAT THE CAUSE WAS AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THEY HAD TO REPROGRAM THE SOFTWARE IN THE TAHOE TO REPROGRAM AUTO START. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE CLATTERING SOUND AND THAT NOTHING WRONG WAS DETECTED WITH THE VEHICLE SO THAT IT WAS READY FOR PICK UP. EVERYTHING WAS O.K. FOR ABOUT A COUPLE OF MONTHS. AUTO START WASN'T WORKING AGAIN. AT MY THIRD SERVICE VISIT TO THE DEALER I NOTICED THE TIRES WERE STARTING TO GET WASTED TOWARDS THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD ABOUT 5,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. WHEN THE DEALER WAS INFORMED HE INDICATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE ROTATED. AFTER ABOUT THREE TIRE ROTATIONS I NOTICED THE TIRES GETTING WARN OUT PRETTY BADLY ON THE INSIDE. HE INDICATED THAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE THAT IT NEEDS A FRONT END ALLINGNMENT ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE HAVING LESS THAN 12,000 MILES. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A 3RD TIME NOW (LOOK FOR MY OTHER COMPLAINT ON THIS WEBSITE ON ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS/WINDSHIELD PROBLEMS) FOR THE SAME PROBLEM PLUS A NUMBER OF MULTIPLE OTHER PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER CAN'T SEEM TO REMEDY IS THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND WIPER SPRAY KEEP COMING ON ALL BY THEMSELVES AND CANNOT BE TURNED OFF UNLESS YOU TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTART IT. THEY'VE REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE BUT THEY STILL COME ON RANDOMLY. THE HEATED SEATS SOMETIMES DON'T WORK AND IN ORDER TO GET THEM TO WORK YOU MUST RESTART THE CAR. THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW WILL RANDOMLY NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE MASTER SWITCH AND WILL ONLY START WORKING AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO GET SERVICED (OIL CHANGE) THE MECHANIC NOTICED SEVERAL LEAKS UNDER THE VEHICLE, ONE COMING FROM THE ENGINE BELL HOUSING ANOTHER FROM THE RACK AND PINION AREA AND THE THIRD FROM THE POWER STEERING PUMP HOUSING AREA. WHEN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THEY CLEANED THE ENGINE PAN (I HAVE BEFORE PICTURES) AND ADDED AN ENGINE DYE AND THEY STATED THEY FOUND NO LEAKS, WE'LL CHECK IT AGAIN AFTER A FEW HUNDRED MILES. THEY ALSO CLEANED UP THE OTHER LEAKS FROM THE OTHER AREAS AND CLAIMED NO LEAKS. OUR MECHANIC ALSO NOTICED WHILE ROTATING THE TIRES THAT THE FRONT RIGHT ROTORS WERE DEEPLY GROOVED WHICH ANSWERS MY QUESTION AS TO WHY MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQUEAKING. HE SAYS THAT WITH ONLY 10,000 MILES IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR THEM TO BE GROOVED, AND IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT WITH THE CALIPERS PROBABLY STICKING. SHOWED THE DEALER AND THE SERVICE WRITER STATED IT WAS NORMAL, THAT CANNOT BE NORMAL. SO NOW THEY RESURFACED THE ROTOR AND THE BRAKES ARE STILL SQUEAKING. AFTER BRINGING MY VEHICLE HOME FROM THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS THE CAR LOCKED "ITSELF" I DID NOT LOCK IT, THE CAR KEYS WERE NOT EVEN IN MY HANDS ANYMORE THEY WERE HANGING ON THE KEY RACK. THERE ARE DEFINITELY SOME MAJOR ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. *JB

THEY ONLY ILLUMINATE WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY (OR IF YOU TURN THEM ON). I THINK THE HEADLIGHT SENSOR IS MIS-PROGRAMMED, BECAUSE IT SEEMS TO ROUTINELY ACTIVATE TOO LATE, BUT ON ONE OCCASION IT ACTIVATED WHEN IT WAS JUST GETTING DIM, WEIRD. THE RUNNING LIGHTS ONLY ILLUMINATE THE FRONT RUNNING LIGHTS, NOT REAR TAIL LIGHTS, MAKING IT DANGEROUS UNDER DIM LIT CONDITIONS. ALSO THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOT CENTERED IN THE SHROUDED PANEL BECAUSE THEY MADE IT SYMMETRICAL WITH A MATCHING TACHOMETER (RPM) GAUGE. WHO REALLY CARES ABOUT A TACHOMETER ON AN AUTOMATIC VEHICLE? I WANT TO SEE THE SPEED THAT I AM TRAVELING. ALSO, IF YOU TILT THE STEERING WHEEL UP AT ONE SET POINT YOU CANT EVEN SEE THE GAUGES DEPENDING ON HOW TALL YOU ARE. *NM

THE HEATER FAN DOES NOT RUN WHEN I AUTOMATICALLY START THE VEHICLE WITH MY REMOTE STARTER/KEYFOB. WHAT GOOD IS IT TO START YOUR VEHICLE TO WARM IT UP IF THE FAN DOESN'T START UP TO DEFROST YOUR WINDSHIELD? THE GM REMOTE STARTER WAS INSTALLED AND PROGRAMMED BY THE DEALER AFTER PURCHASE. OUR FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED 2 WEEKS AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR 2007 TAHOE LTZ ON MARCH 17,2006 THE HEATED SEATS DIDN'T WORK UNLESS WE RESTARTED THE VEHICLE THIS HAPPENED TWICE AND NEVER AGAIN SO WE THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE. SECOND MALFUNCTION/INCIDENT WAS. I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS CAME ON BY THEMSELVES AND I COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF UNTIL I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE THIRD INCIDENT WAS THE SAME AS THE SECOND...THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE FWY AND THE WIPERS AND WIPER FLUID CAME ON AGAIN, I COULD NOT SHUT THEM OFF UNTIL I EXITED THE FWY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AUG 23, 2006 AND EXPLAINED ALL THE MALFUNCTIONS THAT HAD OCCURRED THUS FAR THEY COULD NOT FIND NOR DUPLICATE THE HEATED SEAT PROBLEM BUT THEY DID FIND THAT THE WINDSHIELD WIPER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, SO THEY ORDERED IT. FORWARD TO TODAY SEPT 8, 2006 I WAS AGAIN DRIVING ON THE FWY WHEN MY XM RADIO WENT OUT COMPLETELY I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A PROBLEM WITH THE SATELLITE SO AS SOON AS I EXITED THE FWY I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE BUT THIS TIME ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, RADIO AND ONSTAR SERVICES WERE COMPLETELY DEAD! NO SERVICE AT ALL! I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY WANT ME TO TAKE IT IN SO THAT THEY CAN CHECK IT OUT YET AGAIN, AND INSTALL THE WIPER MODULE WE WERE WAITING ON. THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS, BEING THAT WE DID NOT PAY CHUMP CHANGE FOR THIS TAHOE FOR THAT KIND OF MONEY IT SHOULD BE A VERY RELIABLE VEHICLE! I AM NOT GOING TO BE HAVING TO TAKE A $50,000 VEHICLE TO THE SHOP EVERY OTHER MONTH FOR MALFUNCTIONS...WHAT A COMPLETE INCONVENIENCE THIS IS!! AND FROM WHAT I SEE THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT OF THIS KIND. I SEE PEOPLE ARE HAVING SIMILAR COMPUTER MALFUNCTIONS AS WELL! *JB

WHEN VEHICLE'S EXTERIOR LAMP CONTROL IS IN THE "AUTO" POSITION DURING DAYLIGHT HOURS, MOST OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL GAUGES (SPEEDOMETER, RPM, GAS, BATTERY, TEMPERATURE, OIL) ARE NOT ILLUMINATED AND CANNOT BE READ WITHOUT TAKING ONE'S EYES OFF THE ROAD AND FOCUSING ON THE GAUGE IN QUESTION, CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. VARIOUS FEATURES OF THE VEHICLE ARE SPECIFICALLY DESIGNED SO THAT ONE DOES NOT HAVE TO REMOVE THE EYES FROM THE ROAD (E.G., RADIO CONTROLS ON STEERING WHEEL); THIS GOES COMPLETELY AGAINST THIS OBJECTIVE. ONE CAN BYPASS THIS PROBLEM BY SWITCHING THE EXTERIOR LAMP CONTROL FROM "AUTO" TO THE PARKING LAMP POSITION: THIS ILLUMINATES THE GAUGES BUT CUTS OUT THE DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS. AN IMPROPERLY DESIGNED LIGHT SENSOR SEEMS TO BE THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. WHEN THIS PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER, HIS SERVICE PEOPLE DETERMINED AFTER CHECKING THAT THIS WAS NORMAL OPERATION AND THERE WAS NO DEFECT. *NM
