The driver side dash has a large crack that appeared all of a sudden. This is apparently an on going issue with many complaints filed due to cheap plastic parts.

My dashboard is severely cracked, I called GM to order a new dashboard and they don't have the parts. First this shouldn't happen, GM should own up to the issue and create a part that doesn't have the issue. Second they don't even have the existing part to fix the issue. I called a local dealership (Simi Valley Chevrolet) who wouldn't even give me the part numbers as they said it was against their policy to not give out part numbers. I don't know how a consumer is supposed to fix their vehicle with manufacturer who doesn't make a part any longer and a dealer who doesn't give the information to find another one.

I AM FILING A COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE CHEVY TAHOE 2007 LTZ MODEL I OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CLAIMED BY THOUSANDS OF OWNERS TO HAVE A FACTORY BAD DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS MADE WITH A VERY CHEAP AND UNSAFE PLASTIC. THIS PLASTIC CRACKS DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES FROM HEAT AND COLD. THE PLASTIC ALSO AFTER SOME TIME WILL CRACK AND DETERIORATE AGAIN DUE TO UNSAFE AND POOR PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE REMEDY IS TO PURCHASE A NEW DASHBOARD PANEL AND PAY FOR THE PROFESSIONAL LABOR TO INSTALL. THIS PRODUCT COST SHOULD BE SHARD AT A BARE MINIMUM BY GM DUE TO GOOD FAITH PRACTICES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CLAIM REVIEWED AND PASSED ON TO GM FOR THE PURPOSE OF CORRECTING THIS UNSAFE FACTORY PLASTIC DASHBOARD. THE AIRBAGS CAN CREATE AND CAUSE A HIGHLY UNSAFE DEPLOYMENT BY EXPLODING CHEAP AND SHARP SHARD OF PLASTIC INTO THE EYES AND FACE OF THE PASSENGER/DRIVER. GM IS CLAIMING TO NOT HAVE THE LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO REPAIR OR PAY FOR THIS UNSAFE DASHBOARD THAT SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL.

I PURCHASED MY TAHOE A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO, AND IT ALREADY HAD A CRACKED DASH, BUT WAS MINOR. ONE SMALL CRACK BY THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, AND ONE IN FRONT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. SINCE THEN, IT HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. THE CRACK NEAR THE AIRBAG EXTENDS FROM THE AIRBAG PANEL TO THE EDGE OF THE DASH WHERE IT JOINS TO THE FRONT SECTION OF THE DASH. THE DRIVER SIDE CRACK EXTENDS FROM THE SAME EDGE, UP TOWARDS THE STEERING WHEEL, ALMOST TO THE EDGE CLOSEST TO THE STEERING WHEEL. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN UTAH. IT WAS OWNED BY SOMEONE WHO LIVED IN THE NORTHEAST, THEN MOVED TO UTAH, AND THEN I MOVED TO KENTUCKY ABOUT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE PROBLEM HAS STARTED AND CONTINUES DESPITE THE LOCATION, OR THE TEMPERATURE. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE DUE TO NOT BEING SUPPORTED FROM THE UNDERSIDE.

ONE LONG CRACK ABOUT 3 OR 4 INCHES LONG ON TOP OF MY DASHBOARD, OVERTOP OF MY GAUGES AND ANOTHER CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BY THE AIRBAG ON TOP OF THE DASHBOARD ABOUT 1 INCH AND A HALF LONG. I DON'T KNOW HOW MY DASHBOARD CAN JUST CRACK ON ITS OWN, BUT I DO KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT THERE DAYS BEFORE BECAUSE I HAD MY TRUCK DETAILED INSIDE/OUT AFTER BEING FULLY PAINTED. THE DASH IS CRACKING AT THE AIRBAG LOCATIONS. AT WHAT POINT DOES THIS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE? IS IT ONLY AFTER AN INJURY OR DEATH OCCURS? THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON THE TAKA AIRBAG INFLATOR BUT WE REMAIN ON A "LIST" FOR REPAIRS. ANY SAFETY ISSUE SHOULD NOT TAKE THAT LONG TO BE REPAIRED. I AM UNSURE OF WHAT TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT DEX-COOL HAS BEEN FOUND TO EAT AWAY AT HOSES, O-RINGS, GASKETS, AND OTHER PARTS OF WHICH DEX-COOL COMES INTO CONTACT WITH. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO REPORT THAT MY OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT ALSO NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, IT IS NO LONGER SENDING PRESSURE READINGS TO THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE READ THAT THIS IS A VERY POPULAR PROBLEM WITH MANY CHEVROLET VEHICLE.

2007 CHEVY TAHOE, DASH HAS CRACKED IN TWO PLACES. ONE CRACK IS IN THE LEFT CORNER AT THE AIRBAG (COMPLETE CRACK TOP TO BOTTOM). THE SECOND IS AT THE LEFT SIDE OVER THE STEERING WHEEL (WITHIN 1 INCH BEING COMPLETELY CRACKED FROM TOP TO BOTTOM). THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE MATERIALS NOT ANY INCIDENT THAT CAUSED THIS TO CRACK. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND ALL DASH CRACKS ARE BASICALLY IN THE SAME AREA. VERY MUCH A SAFETY HAZARD ESPECIALLY IF A CRASH OCCURRED. THIS WOULD BE DANGEROUS TO SMALL CHILDREN OR PEOPLE WITH THIN FINGERS AS IT WOULD BE QUITE EASY TO GET A FINGER CAUGHT BETWEEN THE BROKEN DOOR HANDLE AND THE BODY OF THE CAR. THE HANDLES DO NOT LOOK BROKEN. THE ACT OF OPENING THE DOOR CAUSES THE HANDLE TO PULL AWAY FROM THE BODY OF THE DOOR. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. A DEALER TOLD ME TODAY THAT THEY REPLACED 8 HANDLES FOR 1 CUSTOMER. THAT'S AT A PRICE BETWEEN $250 AND $300 PER HANDLE. I WAS GOING TO BEGIN LOOKING FOR A NEW CAR TODAY. WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WHERE THE DOOR WINDOWS STOP WORKING, THE SEATS WON'T MOVE AND HAVE HAD THAT FIXED TWICE. WE ALSO HAVE HAD THE REAR DOOR STOP WORKING WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE. WE HAVE HAD THAT IN TO THE DEALER ON THREE OCCASIONS. WE GAVE UP TAKING IT BACK. HERE AGAIN NO RECALLS. WE ALSO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM. THEY WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO. ALSO, THE TRIM ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND RADIO BUTTONS ARE PEELING OFF. THE 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE SEEMS TO BE PLAGUED WITH THESE THREE PART FAILURES AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS. A CUT MAY NOT SEEM SEVERE, UNTIL THE CUT DOESN'T HEAL PROPERLY, LEAVES PERMANENT SCARING AND POSSIBLY THE ADDED THREAT OF INFECTION. THE MOLDED PLASTIC ON THE DASHBOARD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS AN 8" CRACK THAT BEGINS WHERE THE DASH MEETS THE WINDOW AREA AND EXTENDS UP TOWARDS THE DRIVER AND EXTENDS UP THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROUNDED PORTION OF THE DASH THAT HOUSES THE SPEEDOMETER AND OTHER INSTRUMENTATION. THE TRUCK IS GARAGED AND I USE A WINDOW SUN SCREEN WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE. UPON MUCH RESEARCH THERE SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2007 TAHOE SPECIFICALLY, DEALER CONFIRMED, WITH DASHBOARD CRACKING IN THE EXACT LOCATION I IDENTIFIED ABOVE AS WELL AS ON THE RIGHT SIDE BY THE AIRBAG. I HAVE A CONCERN THAT THE PLASTIC IS DEFECTIVE IN THIS YEAR AND MODEL AND ALTHOUGH IT IS INITIALLY THOUGHT OF AS COSMETIC (STILL NO EXCUSE), MOST IMPORTANTLY I FEAR THAT THE COMPROMISED DASH WILL COMPROMISE THE INTEGRITY OF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SHOULD IT BE NEEDED. I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FURTHER INSPECTION AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS COULD HAVE HAPPEN BY USING ARMORALL, IN THAT CASE THE WHOLE CONSOLE WOULD BE CRACKED AND NOT IN CERTAIN PLACES WHERE ALL OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE SEEING THE SAME EXACT CRACKS. ACTUALLY THE ENTIRE CONSOLE IS AFFECTED WITH SEVERAL CRACKS. IF GM WAS NOT AWARE, HOW COME SOME OF THEIR CUSTOMERS CONSOLES HAVE BEEN CHANGED OUT BY THE DEALERSHIP? MORE THAN ONCE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE AS THE FRONT DASHBOARD HAS SPLIT OPEN AND CRACKED IN MULTIPLE PLACES. THEY APPEAR TO BE STRESS FRACTURES, OR WEAKNESSES IN THE WAY THE DASHBOARD IS MANUFACTURED. I HAVE LOOKED AT THE INTERNET, AND THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE, WHERE THEIR DASHBOARDS DEVELOP STRESS FRACTURES AND SPLIT OPEN. THE DASHBOARD HAS TWO MAIN PROBLEM AREAS; ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AROUND THE AIR BAG OPENING, AND THEN AGAIN OVER THE "HUMP" THAT COMES UP AND OVER THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS CRACK IN PARTICULAR IS VERY BAD, WITH THESE CRACKS SPLITTING OFF IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS. THE DASHBOARD IS NOW VERY WEAK AND HAS NO STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY. I WOULD NOT FEEL SAFE IF THIS VEHICLE WAS IN A CRASH, AS THE DASHBOARD WOULD PROVIDE NO SUPPORT TO PROTECT OCCUPANTS, AND THE PLASTIC PARTS OF THE DASHBOARD WOULD GO FLYING THROUGHOUT THE CABIN. THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE DIFFERENTIAL, THE IDLE NEEDLE WOULD RISE, WHILE AT A STOP, THE BATTERY DRAINED, THE ENGINE STALLED, THE DASH WAS CRACKED, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION, THE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM WAS REPAIRED THREE TIMES, THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR WAS INOPERABLE, THE WEATHER STRIP HAD COME OFF THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM THE U-JOINT. *JB

I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT, AND THE PROBLEM HAPPENED UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN. MY CAR MOVED FORWARD JUST SLIGHTLY, JERKED HARD TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND IT WOULDN'T DRIVE ANYMORE. I WAS ABLE TO GET PUSHED TO THE SIDE IN NEUTRAL, BUT NEEDED A TOW TO THE DEALER. THE ONLY WORKING GEARS WERE R, 3, 2, AND 1. BRINGING IT INTO THE DEALER, THEY CONFIRMED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAD DONE SOME RESEARCH WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND NOTICED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, ALL IN THE SAME TYPE OF SCENARIO WHERE THEY WERE AT A COMPLETE STOP. SECOND ISSUE, NOT NEARLY AS MAJOR IS THE STABILITRAK. THE LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY, PRETTY MUCH FROM THE FIRST YEAR I'VE HAD THE CAR. AND LASTLY, THE INTERIOR CHROME DOOR HANDLES HAVE ALL PEELED OFF AND CUT ME AND MY PASSENGERS SEVERAL TIMES. THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLES HAVE COME LOOSE, THE FUEL POCKET IS COMPLETELY BROKEN, AND AFTER A HEAVY RAIN, WATER GETS TRAPPED INSIDE THE SHELL OF THE BACK DOOR AND SLOSHES AROUND WHILE I'M DRIVING. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TAHOE. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, EACH DOOR ON THE VEHICLE MADE CRACKING NOISES WHEN DECELERATING OR DRIVING ON JAGGED ROADS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS UNRECOGNIZABLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC APPLIED LUBRICANT TO CORRECT THE FAILURE, BUT THE NOISES RETURNED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 18,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 320. THE CONSUMER STATED DID HAVE TIRE PROBLEM, TIRES WERE CRACKING AND COMING APART. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES. UPDATED 09/19/07 *TR

THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER SUFFERED HAND CUTS FROM THE GLASS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CONTACT SUGGESTED THAT THERE WAS A BUTTON ABOVE THE LICENSE PLATE THAT LIFTS THE REAR GATE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 10,000.

JUST AFTER PURCHASE, WHILE THEY WERE PREPPING MY NEW 07 TAHOE I NOTED THAT IT HAD A DENT IN THE REAR DRIVERS-SIDE DOOR IN THE RIDGE OVER THE REAR WHEEL OPENING. A COLLISION CENTER OWNER INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED WITHOUT INSTALLING A NEW DOOR SKIN ON IT. THE SALESMAN HAD STATED THAT IT COULD BE POPPED-OUT. IT OBVIOUSLY HAPPENED AT THE FACTORY AS THERE WERE NO OBVIOUS SCRATCHES OR OTHER INDICATIONS OF IMPACT. *JB

SEVERAL PROBLEMS WITH NEW 2007 TAHOE, INCLUDING RECALL HVAC, REPLACE DVD, REPLACE RADIO, VIBRATING LEFT DRIVER'S MIRROR, BACK DOOR MOLDING, REPAIRED PASSENGER DOOR POWER LOCKS...HOWEVER, MAIN AND IRREPARABLE ISSUE IS THE POOR FM & XM RADIO RECEPTION WHICH FADES IN AND OUT WHILE DRIVING. *NM
