Dashboard cracking in multiple places
Dashboard cracked in multiple areas lifting up. Seatbelt jams up
Drivers side air bag barely inflated but something is causing aching in my ear and hearing is a little funny. My arm was cut from whatever blew out of 1 of the front airbags. I never received anything about any recalls.
Dash parts falling apart, loose trim, broken trim, unsafe and illy constructed dash. Loose parts directly resulted of General Motors lack of providing quality products may put lives in danger.

Not able to open drunk safely, it may or may not open and sometime when it does it will start closing on its own and then at a certain point will slam shut and can’t reopen until it is ready my son almost got his head chopped off so now I’m not able to open my trunk at all very scared
while driving the top part of my dashboard cracked and busted open. A piece of plastic came flying right at me and almost hit me in the face and could of caused me to crash while on the highway. Very poorly made dashboard by Chevy they should be ashamed of themselves.
Dash severely cracked into several different pieces. My children and I could be seriously hurt if that where to go airborne through the vehicle. No warnings! Everyone is terrified that had come in contact with this situation.

THE O2 SENSOR CAN LOSE FROM ITS HOUSING. I HAD NEVER DONE ANY REPAIRS TO THIS O2 SENSOR. WHICH IT IS LOCATED AT POSITION BANK 1 SENSOR 2. THE SENSOR CONNECTION CAME LOSE FROM WHERE IT IS HELD ON TO THE FRAME. IT CAUSED THE WIRING TO GET SLACK AND WRAP AROUND THE DRIVE SHAFT. THIS HAPPENED AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. I STARTED TO HEAR A NOISE COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. AS I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE SUV I SEEN THE O2 SENSOR WAS CAUGHT ON THE SHAFT. I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A ONCE TIME INCIDENT THAT HAD OCCURRED TO ME. BUT AS I WENT TO THE SALVAGE YARD TO GET A HARNESS. THEY TOLD ME THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE ON THESE MODEL TRUCKS.

I AM FILING A COMPLAINT IN REGARDS TO THE CHEVY TAHOE 2007 LTZ MODEL I OWN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CLAIMED BY THOUSANDS OF OWNERS TO HAVE A FACTORY BAD DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS MADE WITH A VERY CHEAP AND UNSAFE PLASTIC. THIS PLASTIC CRACKS DUE TO NATURAL CAUSES FROM HEAT AND COLD. THE PLASTIC ALSO AFTER SOME TIME WILL CRACK AND DETERIORATE AGAIN DUE TO UNSAFE AND POOR PLASTIC MATERIAL. THE REMEDY IS TO PURCHASE A NEW DASHBOARD PANEL AND PAY FOR THE PROFESSIONAL LABOR TO INSTALL. THIS PRODUCT COST SHOULD BE SHARD AT A BARE MINIMUM BY GM DUE TO GOOD FAITH PRACTICES. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CLAIM REVIEWED AND PASSED ON TO GM FOR THE PURPOSE OF CORRECTING THIS UNSAFE FACTORY PLASTIC DASHBOARD. THE AIRBAGS CAN CREATE AND CAUSE A HIGHLY UNSAFE DEPLOYMENT BY EXPLODING CHEAP AND SHARP SHARD OF PLASTIC INTO THE EYES AND FACE OF THE PASSENGER/DRIVER. GM IS CLAIMING TO NOT HAVE THE LEGAL REQUIREMENT TO REPAIR OR PAY FOR THIS UNSAFE DASHBOARD THAT SHOULD OF BEEN A RECALL.

IN LIEU OF THESE THESE DASHBOARD CRACKS, AND COMBINED WITH THE EXISTING RECALL THAT HAS NO SOLUTION FOR FIX- SURROUNDING THE TAKATA INFLATORS AMONG THE AIRBAGS, THIS BECOMES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD SHOULD THERE BE AN ACCIDENT. THE GARAGE DOOR, GARAGE ENTRY DOOR AND DOWNSTAIRS BASEMENT WERE DAMAGED AD POSSIBLE REPLACEMENT ON THEM. THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY SIGNS OF OVER HEATING, OR SMOKING, AND ANY TYPE OF BURNING SMELLS.

OVER THE PAST 6 SIX YEARS THE DASH HAS CRACKED 6-7 MORE TIMES. IT CRACKED WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON TBE HIGHWAY, IT CRACKED WHEN MY TRUCK WAS PARKED RIGHT AFTER I TURNED MY A/C ON, ON A HOT DAY. THEY STATED THAT IF IT BEGINS TO CRACK AROUND AIRBAG, THAT IT COULD CAUSE A SAFETY CONCERN. IT HAS NOW CRACKED AROUND THE AIRBAG AND I'M CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE A DISRUPTION IN AIRBAG/FLYING DEBRIS TOWARDS PASSENGER IF IT WERE TO DEPLOY (POSSIBLE SEVERE INJURY OR EVEN DEATH). THE DEALERSHIP STATED THERE ISN'T A RECALL FOR THIS AS IT'S COMMON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN GM VEHICLES BUT THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE AND THAT SOMETIMES THEY WILL COVER THE COST.

I RECENTLY STARTED TO NOTICE AN ODOR COMING FROM THE AIR DUCTS, WHILE RUNNING MY AIR CONDITIONER. I CALLED UP A LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, HOPING THEY MAY SCHEDULE ME FOR A SERVICING OF MY CABIN AIR FILTER. I CALLED THE PARTS DEPARTMENT, TO WHICH THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID, IN FACT, CARRY THE PARTS NEEDED (USING MY VIN). I SCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT BUT STILL HAD A FEW QUESTIONS AND ASKED IF I MAY SPEAK WITH A SERVICE ADVISER/TECHNICIAN (IT TOOK ME A WEEK BEFORE I WAS CALLED BACK). I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO SPEAK WITH AN ADVISER THAT, AFTER SPEAKING WITH ONE OF THE TECHNICIANS, INFORMED ME THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE A CABIN AIR FILTER, THUS, THERE IS NO NEED TO HAVE IT SERVICED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, I CAME TO THE CONCLUSION THAT MY VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE A CABIN AIR FILTER INSTALLED, HOWEVER, IT DOES HAVE THE HOUSING/SLOT FOR ONE. I PURCHASED A CABIN AIR FILTER AND COVER. THE DIRECTIONS SEEMED SIMPLE ENOUGH THAT I DID NOT NEED TO TAKE IT ANYWHERE AS I AM SOMEWHAT MECHANICALLY INCLINED. I WAS APPALLED BY WHAT I FOUND WHEN I REMOVED THE SEAL. TEN YEARS OF STANDING WATER, LED TO AN INFESTATION OF MOLD AND BACTERIA, THAT I AND ANY PASSENGERS HAVE BEEN BREATHING IN. ATTACHED ARE PICTURES I TOOK AFTER CUTTING OUT THE SEAL TO INSTALL A CABIN AIR FILTER. I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL EXPLANATIONS AS TO WHY THIS WAS NEVER ADDRESSED AND WHAT GM MAY RECOMMEND SO THAT THIS MAY NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. THE 2ND CRACK IS TO THE LEFT OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER, STARTING AT THE FRONT CLOSEST TO THE WINDSHIELD AND MOVING BACK TOWARD THE HUMP OF THE CLUSTER CLOSEST TO THE DRIVER. A 3RD CRACK HAS APPEARED, BRANCHING OFF THE SECOND CRACK AT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER POINTING TOWARDS THE DRIVERS WINDOW. THOSE CRACKS APPEARED ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO.THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN KEPT UNDER SHADED CARPORT OR IN WAREHOUSE MOST OF IT'S LIFE.

TOO HAPPY TO BE HERE AND THE SERVICE MANAGER, I GOT A VERY "REHEARSED" SPILL ABOUT HOW THIS IS AN OLD VEHICLE AND UNLESS GMC TELLS THEM TO FIX IT, THEY AREN'T GOING TO FIX IT! EVEN THOUGH HE ACKNOWLEDGED THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. (FYI I NEVER LOST MY COOL AND WAS HOPING THE CORDIAL, BUSINESS MANNER I PROJECTED WOULD HAVE BEEN RECIPROCATED.....WRONG!) THIS "OLD VEHICLE" HAS BEEN HAND WASHED, GARAGE KEPT AND KID FREE SINCE IT'S ORIGINAL PURCHASE, AND MAINTAINED WELL ABOVE THE MANUFACTURED RECOMMENDATIONS I'M SURE. THE CONCERN AND IMMEDIATE DANGER IS THAT IF THE AIR BAGS WERE TO DEPLOY, THE EXCERPTED FORCE WOULD EITHER SEND SHRAPNEL FROM THE DASHBOARD IN TO THE PERSONNEL IN THE VEHICLE CAUSING A GREATER RISK OF SERIOUS TRAUMATIC INJURY OR POSSIBLY DEATH. ADDITIONALLY IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE SHARP EDGES CREATED BY THE CRACKS COULD POTENTIALLY PIERCE THE AIRBAG PREVENTING IT FROM FULLY DEPLOYING AS INTENDED AND THUS RENDERING IT IN AFFECTIVE AND NOT ADHERING TO SAFETY STANDARDS, AGAIN RESULTING IN POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE OR SEVER TRAUMATIC INJURY.

I THINK THAT THIS PART SHOULD BE RECALLED SINCE THOUSANDS OF CHEVY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE SEEN MANY PICTURES OF PEOPLES DASHES THAT HAVE THE SAME CONCERNS. PLEASE REVIEW THESE CASES AND UNDERSTAND THAT THIS SIMPLE COSMETIC PIECE COULD HAVE MAJOR AFFECTS.

I AM WORRIED THAT MY FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG IS AFFECTED BY THIS AND THAT IF IT DOES DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT THAT ALL THE CRACKED PIECES OF HARD PLASTIC FROM THE DASH WILL BE HAZARDOUS. ALSO WHEN DRIVING YOU CAN HEAR THE LOUD RATTLES FROM THE DASH.

MY DASH IS ALSO CRACKED IN MULTPILE PLACES STARTING WITH THE LEFT CORNER OF THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AND NOW ABOVE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.

THIRD TIME SAME DEALERSHIP STATES THERE'S NOTHING WRONG. MAY 21, 2008, I GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP FOR A SERVICE AND BECAUSE ALL MY FRIENDS SAY THERE HAS TO BE SOMETHING WRONG. I WAS TOLD THAT IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH GM MODEL, I.E., TAHOE YUKONS SUBURBUNS. THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT THAT IS INSTALLED WEARS OUT, AND HAS TO BE REPLACED, IN MODELS DATING BACK TO 98 AT LEAST. HE STATES I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIR. I RESEARCHED AN FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS AND FORUMS ABOUT THE VERY PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NO RECALL ABOUT. THEY HAVE BEEN USING THE SAME SHAFT FOR YEARS AND NOW HAVE IMPROVED PART THAT CONSUMERS HAVE TO PAY FOR OUT OF THEIR POCKETS. HOW CAN THEY KNOWLINGLY PLACE BAD PARTS IN VEHICLES AND NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING.
