Component Failure: AC condenser assembly failed due to thermal cycling cracks in combination transmission fluid/oil cooler design - exact failure documented in GM TSB 17336-05. TSB states "thermal cycling creates a crack that may allow refrigerant to escape." Safety Risk: AC system failure after sun exposure creates dangerous interior temperatures lasting 30-45 minutes with family including two teenagers in 95°F+ NC summer heat. Risk of heat exhaustion/stroke during highway travel where immediate stopping impossible. Dealer Confirmation: Hendrick Chevrolet diagnosed refrigerant leak from upper left condenser on 7/22/25 (Invoice CTCS913252, $1,904.60). Official work order documents identical symptoms and repair operation covered by GM TSB 17336-05 Special Coverage. Manufacturer Knowledge: GM issued TSB 17336-05 acknowledging their combi-cooler design cannot withstand normal thermal cycling, affecting 908,000+ vehicles. GM provides Customer Service Satisfaction Campaign 17336-01 free repairs for this exact defect but denied my reimbursement (Case #72260590) solely due to mileage, claiming manufacturing design defect becomes customer responsibility after 60k miles. Symptoms: Problem began summer 2024 - AC functions normally when parked in shade but requires 30-45 minutes to cool after direct sun exposure, exactly matching TSB heat-soak failure pattern. No warning lights as system retained sufficient refrigerant until complete thermal stress failure.
The sunroof shattered when nothing hit it driving down the road.
The stabilitrak notification comes on constantly. While we are driving/reversing and turn our steering wheel the whole car will shut down and the steering wheel jerks. It's happened multiple times. It takes forever for the car to turn back on.This is super dangerous and cause myself and my children to end up getting hit by another vehicle while on the road.
Air conditioning could cause a safety problem during hot days, forcing the driver to drive with all windows down and still remain very hot and sweaty while driving. The A/C system in this vehicle is so poorly designed that I've spent $6,000 in 8 years of ownership just to keep the A/C running. The primary problem is that is has a separate rear HVAC zone, which requires both high & low side freon lines to run under the length of the vehicle to a rear condenser. These lines are not shielded in any way from being hit by road debris. I'm replacing a leaking rear A/C for the third time at a cost of $1800. These lines should be shielded so they are not getting pelted by rocks and other debris. It's a very bad design that exposes a potential safety issue. When these lines break, it also dumps all of the freon into the atmosphere.

THE ISSUE WAS TEMPORARILY RESOLVED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH OR SO, AND NOW IT IS BACK TO BREAKING AND RELEASING. -ONE CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE VEHICLE AND/OR ITS COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN INSPECTED GIVEN THAT I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE SERVICE CENTER, STATED THE ISSUE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ISSUE SHOULD BE RESOLVED AFTER IT HAS BEEN SERVICED. -THERE WERE NO WARNING LAMPS, MESSAGES, OR OTHER SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE.
The brake vacuum pump is bad. It was hooked up to solious and that's the codes it's throwing. Out of no where while driving on the highway my brake pedal became very stiff and difficult to push down. I could barely stop in time off the exit. Now when the truck is in Drive it doesn't even move. When you do go u have to put all your might into pressing the brake down to stop. Even then the pedal won't go down. Very dangerous especially since I had my [XXX] daughter with me. Very scary situation. I looked up recall for VIN but I have 0. Which is weird because there's a recall on 2016 chevy tahoes for this exact symptoms and part. Now I did go to [XXX] and found a recall under my Vin and also a warranty for this part under my Vin. The touch screen glitches. While traveling depending on maps I can't safely drive and follow the screen.

the paint is failing on the car. i have extensive research on it and it appears this is a big issue over the years 2015-19. there is no recall on this yet. i called the chevy 1(800) number and they told me to file a complaint to you guys.
While braking the engine will try to accelerate. not like normal downshift acceleration. sometimes while my speed is below 5 mph the engine will accelerate to the point that i have to apply extra brake pedal pressure to keep from hitting the car in front of me.
Steering assist warning message came up on dash and then transmission failed … had transmission fixed and steering assist warning is still there … checked into it and it’s the stabil track system that supposedly there is a recall for but my vin number doesn’t show it as a recall but other vehicle’s matching mine does
My 2016 Tahoe just shut off on me and my daughter inside of the tunnel with heavy traffic. When I placed the gear in drive the vehicle roll back instead of moving forward. I was afraid because the traffic was steady moving. The emergency wrecker pushed my Tahoe to safety out of the tunnel. I had it towed to my mechanic he said it’s the transmission . The engine light came on afterwards. The dealer refused the acknowledgment of the vehicle. I purchased as is. I purchase the vehicle 11-09-2022 it shut off 12-20-2022
This complaint is with respect to the GM Infotainment System. While driving on the 405 freeway in Orange County, CA, the sound level of the infotainment system went to maximum. This being extremely painful, I tried to turn down the volume of the sound system. All controls were frozen and inoperative. I had to pull off the freeway and find a parking spot so I could turn off the engine for a short time to allow the electronics to reset. I had my wife and granddaughter with me. I have had this infotainment system freeze at other times such as using the navigation system, or the sound system. This could be a very dangerous condition while driving. I can imagine a driver being greatly distracted while attempting to deal with a problem such as this, or even a lesser problem. What is needed is a way to reset the electronics while driving. This could be a special button or pushing a pair of existing buttons. I consider this a very dangerous problem. I queried the dealership for a reset procedure but they had nothing to offer.
The DIC shows “CAL” and will not allow direction of travel. The navigation system will not re-calibrate after many efforts to do so with instructions from manufacturer.
I was driving on the 405 freeway, passing through Orange,, County, CA. While adjusting the sound level of the radio, part of the Infotainment system, the volume jumped to maximum level. These automobiles have superior sound systems and the sound was at a painful level. Nothing that I could touch had any effect on the sound level. Also in the car was my wife and a young granddaughter who started crying. So I had to exit the freeway and find a parking place where I could stop the engine and allow the Infotainment system reset and I could then select a normal volume. This could have been the cause of an accident because all of my attention was turned to the electronics. Freezes and non operation of the other features of these electronics has also occurred which causes the driver to turn his attention to getting things working again. What is severely needed is a way to easily reset the electronics by the driver. This could be a simple button on the steering wheel or a combination of buttons that would safely reset the system back to normal while driving.
2016 CHEVROLET TAHOE. CONSUMER STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SWAY AND WAS UNASTABLE. THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE TOWING A TRAILER, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SWAYING UNCONTROLLABLY AND FLIPPED ON IT'S SIDE. THE TRAILER WAS TOTALED.
TAHOE FEELS LIKE IT WANTS TO SHIFT GEARS WHEN IT'S NOT GOING ABOVE 25MPH. IT'S HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS. IT HAPPENS AS SOON AS THE TAHOE IS PUT INTO GEAR. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN ALL OF THE TIME THOUGH. IT GOES AWAY AFTER I DRIVE IT FOR A COUPLE OF MILES. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. OTHER TIMES IT FEELS LIKE THERE'S NO POWER TO THE ENGINE EVEN WHEN ITS IN MOTION. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BRAKES BECAUSE IT FEELS LIKE ITS STUTTERING, LIKE ITS MISFIRING, BUT I'VE HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED AND THEY'RE FINE. THERE'S ALSO A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THAT THE MECHANICS I'VE TAKEN IT TO CAN'T DECIPHER WHY ITS ON. I CAN'T REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE MILEAGE ON THE ODOMETER WAS WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED. I'VE HAD THE TAHOE FOR 4 YEARS NOW.

I AM DISABLED AND HAVE RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS AND GM IS NOT RECALLING THIS PART DUE TO NO SAFETY ISSUES. I HAD ALSO PURCHASED A PROTECTION PLAN WITH FINISHING TOUCH THAT THEY TALKED US INTO WHEN WE BOUGHT THE CAR ON THE PAINT AND INTERIOR. 3.5 YEARS INTO OWNERSHIP THE PAINT ON THE HOOD AND ROOF FADED. WE CONTACTED THE PROTECTION PLAN AND THEY WERE MORE THAN WILLING TO TAKE CARE OF. THEY SENT AN ADJUSTER OUT AND HE CLASSIFIED AS CLEAR COAT FAILURE. THEN THE RUN AROUND STARTED. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TALKED WITH THE ASSISTANT MANAGER IN THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. HE BROUGHT OUT THE MANAGER AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS PAINT FAILURE. SO THEN THE DEALERSHIP GETS INVOLVED WITH CHEVROLET. THE FIRST CALL COMES BACK AND SAYS THEY WILL COVER 20%. I TOLD THEM THAT SOME ONE WAS GOING TO COVER THE REPAIRS AND IT WON'T BE ME. THEY SOLD ME A PROTECTION PLAN THROUGH FINISHING TOUCH FOR THE PAINT AND THE INTERIOR SO SOMEONE NEEDS TO COVER THE DAMAGE. AFTER A FEW DAYS I GET A CALL STATING THAT BETWEEN THE DEALERSHIP, CHEVROLET AND FINISHING TOUCH IT WOULD BE REPAIRED AT NO COST. NOW IT GETS BETTER. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE HOOD AND THE ROOF REPAINTED. AFTER A WEEK AT THE BODY SHOP THE CAR IS READY TO BE PICKED UP. WE WALK UP TO THE CAR AND IT IS ALL SHINY AND LOOKING GOOD. BUT THE COLOR DOESN'T MATCH. WE CALL THE SERVICE MANAGER OUT AND HE SAYS HE CAN'T SEE THE ISSUE. THE TAHOE IS A BROWNSTONE METALLIC AND THE HOOD IS MORE BRONZE THAN THE REST OF THE VEHICLE. HE TELLS ME HE CAN GET THE PAINT MANAGER TO COME SPEAK TO ME BECAUSE HE CAN'T SEE THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A OVERCAST DAY SO IT DOESN'T SHOW REALLY BRIGHT BUT MY HUSBAND AND I CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE. WHILE WE ARE WAITING FOR THE MANAGER FROM THE BODY SHOP TO ARRIVE WE WALK AROUND THE VEHICLE. GPS ANTENNA LEAKED WHILE PARKED IN RAIN. SATURATED HEAD LINER, STEERING WHEEL, AND DRIVER SEAT. WATER PUDDLED IN DRIVER FLOOR MAT. GPS SIGNAL LOST UNTIL THINGS DRIED OUT. ALSO HAS IMPACTED COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN LAST 2 MONTHS. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT BECAUSE VEHICLE IS GARAGED MOST TIMES. DOESN'T OCCUR WHILE DRIVING DURING RAIN, ONLY WHEN VEHICLE IS PARKED AND WATER CAN STREAM IN THROUGH GAP ON BACKSIDE OF ANTENNA AND ENTER THE DEFECTIVE INNER SEAL. THE VEHICLE HAS ROUGHLY 90K MILES ON NOW. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING AT CHEVY DEALER IN IMLAY CITY, MICHIGAN ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND THEY HAVE YET TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I'VE USED THIS VEHICLE TO TOW MY BOAT. WHEN IN REVERSE AND BACKING BOAT INTO WATER AT BOAT RAMP I'VE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND IT SEEMS TO TAKE A SECOND OR TWO FOR THE BRAKES TO REACT MAKING IT FEEL LIKE THE VEHICLE IS STILL MOVING IN REVERSE. NOT SURE IF THIS AN ISSUE WITH THE RECENT BRAKE RECALL SEPT 2019 OR TRANSMISSION ISSUES.
THE CAR WAS PARKED. WE GOT IN & SHUT THE DOORS. WHEN I TRIED TO START THE CAR, THE DOORS LOCKED AUTOMATICALLY. I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOORS OR ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS. IT WAS WELL OVER 100 DEGREES IN THE CAR. WE WERE TRAPPED IN THE CAR. WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH 911, I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO RELEASE THE DOOR LOCKS AND WE ESCAPED. THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED AND COULD NOT BE OPENED. EVIDENTLY THE BATTERY WAS DEAD AND THE SYSTEM SHUT DOWN. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THE BATTERY WAS LOW. HAVING DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AND BE DISABLED DUE TO A BATTERY IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD.

I HAVE PLACE TWO CANS OF REFRIGERATE IN THE SYSTEM IN LESS THAN ONE WEEK. I CAN NOT IDENTIFY ANY LEAKS. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE VOICED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES AND REPAIR. I BELIEVE THAT IS UNFAIR CONSIDERING I HAVE NOT DAMAGED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY ONE YEAR OLD AND IS HAVING A/C PROBLEMS. I HAVE KIDS AND LIVE IN A SOUTHERN STATE THAT HAS 100 DEGREE WEATHER IN THE SUMMER MONTHS. I BELIEVE I DESERVE ANSWER AT LEAST!!!!!!

ALL POWER FEATURES OF THE LIFT GATE MAY BE TURNED OFF, BUT NOT JUST THE HAND-FREE FEATURE (KICKING FOOT UNDER BUMPER). GATE HAS CLOSED 3 TIMES ON MY WIFE/CHILDREN LOADING/UNLOADING GROCERIES. VEHICLE PARKED, OFF AND KEY FOB IN POCKET OF WIFE (NEAR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE). THIS IS DANGEROUS FOR CHILDREN ESPECIALLY.

TAHOE WAS IN DRIVE. TWO OF US HAD EXITED THE VEHICLE AND COLLECTED SEVERAL SHOPPING CARTS, SO PEOPLE WOULD NOT DAMAGE THEIR VEHICLES. THIRD PERSON EXITED THE VEHICLE. IF LEFT IN DRIVE, (ELECTRIC START) NO BELLS OR ALARMS WENT OFF. DOORS WEREN'T LOCKED AS PERSON IN BACK SEAT WAS ABLE TO EXIT. WE WERE IN THE STORE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES. ON VIDEO, THE TAHOE WAS IN ITS SPOT FOR QUITE A WHILE BEFORE ROLLING BACK. MY WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THERE WERE SEVERAL WITNESSES.

THE PRESSURE INSIDE THE CABIN CAN BE FELT UPON TURNING ON THE VEHICLE, AND OPENING THE WINDOWS DOES NOT HELP. THE SENSATION ALMOST FEELS MAGNETIC. THE ORIGINAL TIRES FAILED A ROAD BALANCE TEST AND WERE REPLACED. THIS DID NOT HELP THE ISSUE.

TAHOE HAS A VIBRATION WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO V4 CONTINUES FROM 40MPH THROUGH 55 OR WHEN YOU PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR. HAVE HAD IT IN SHOP THEY RESEALED THE BOWS IN THE ROOF , ROTATED TIRES , CHECKED THE EXHAUST NOTHING HAS FIXED. I THINK THE PROBLEM IS IN THE MOTOR WITH UNBURNED GASES WHEN IT SHIFTS INTO V4.

WHEN DRIVING MY NEW 2016 CHEVROLET TAHOE, I AM EXPERIENCING A BOOMING NOISE OVER BUMPS IN THE ROAD AND EXPERIENCING SEVERE PRESSURE AND PAIN IN MY EARS FROM SOME SORT OF PRESSURE CREATED IN THE VEHICLES CABIN. THE PAIN IS UNBEARABLE, I CANT DRIVE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES DUE TO THE PAIN IN MY EARS WHILE DRIVING.
