Transmission doesn’t have 3rd or 4th gear. Vehicle was smoking under hood. Found out after buying it it has flood damage. Mechanic said there was water in the transmission when inspected. Vehicle needs catylic converter sensor and vehicle has bad ground wire. Seller didn’t inform me of any of these issues and he said it was in good shape and very reliable.

FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS, EVERY PART OF MY INSTRUMENT PANEL SEEMS TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY. AT TIMES WHILE DRIVING, THE SPEEDOMETER WILL SHOW ME DOING 40 MPH OVER MY ACTUAL SPEED, OR WILL SHOW ME DOING 120 WHILE I AM SITTING STILL. THE OIL PRESSURE WILL SOMETIMES SHOW THAT THERE IS NO PRESSURE AT ALL, OR THE TEMP IS AS FAR AS IT CAN GO ON THE HOT SIDE. ALL OF THESE ISSUES DISAPPEAR AFTER A WHILE, AND THEN FUNCTION NORMALLY. THEY DO NOT SEEM TO BE TIED TOGETHER, BECAUSE AT TIMES SEVERAL INSTRUMENTS ARE WORKING FINE, BUT 2 OTHERS ARE NOT.

MULTIPLE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE MALFUNCTIONING. THE TACHOMETER IS READING 5,000 RPM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, AND 7,000 RPM WHEN GOING 15 MPH. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE GAUGE SITS AT 2,000. THE SPEEDOMETER IS CLICKING UP (NOT A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO THE CORRECT SPEED). AND IT SHOWING A LESSER SPEED THEN I AM GOING. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE SPEEDOMETER SHOWS IT IS GOING 10 MILES PER HOUR BUT WILL SLOWLY DROP DOWN TO ZERO. BOTH OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS COULD ARE A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS SHOWING 7,000 RPM, AFRAID I WAS GOING TO BREAK DOWN AND RUIN MY CAR.

SERVICE 4WD, SEAT BELT, SERVICE ENGINE, BRAKE AND ABS) OTHER GM VEHICLES WITH THIS SAME CLUSTER HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT THE 2003TRAILBLAZER.

THE VEHICLE HAS 83 THOUSAND MILES ON IT AND THE VEHICLE REAR LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING WHEN I BRAKE ONLY ONE THAT IS THE THIRD LIGHT ON TOP OF CAR. GM (CHEVROLET) I LIVE ON A VERY LIMITED INCOME AND DUE TO DISABILITY AS WELL. MY INCOME IS 1330 A MONTH. HOW CAN I GET THIS FIXED? BEFORE DOING SO I NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE STILL ON BUT GROWING DIMMER BY THE MINUTE. THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN DRIVABLE CONDITION.

THEN I SMELLED SOMETHING AND RAISED THE HOOD AND THE FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER THE HOOD WAS MELTING. WE DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY BUT IT HAD ALREADY MELTED THE BOX BY THAT TIME. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW IF THERE WAS A RECALL OR NOT. ON MAY 7TH. 2015 I HAD TO HAVE THE SAME SWITCH REPLACED AGAIN, NOW NOT TWO WEEKS LATER THE IGNITION SWITCH IS ACTING UP AGAIN. I CALLED GENERAL MOTORS AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MY TRAILBLAZER, AND I COULD CONTACT MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND SEE IF THEY CAN TELL ME WHAT I CAN DO. I GET TO THE GROCERY STORE AND SHOP THEN COME OUT AND IT IS WORKING AGAIN. THEN THE NEXT DAY, NONE OF THE GAUGES ARE WORKING FROM THE TIME I STARTED IT. AFTER PUTTING THE DRIVERS WINDOW DOWN AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THRU IT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP. THIS WAS IN JANUARY, VERY COLD IN MICHIGAN. DEALER SAID MOISTURE MUST HAVE GOTTEN INTO SWITCH AND THE WHOLE MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. I ASKED IF THAT MEANS THE DOORS CAN'T BE OPENED WHEN IT WAS RAINING, HE SAID YES THEY CAN BUT FOR SOME REASON GM HAS A LOT OF DRIVERS DOOR WINDOW SWITCHES GOING BAD ON THE TRAILBLAZERS. THE COST TO HAVE IT REPLACED WAS $430 WHICH WE PAID SEEING HOW ONLY THE DEALER CAN PROGRAM THE NEW SWITCH. IT'S NOW ONE YEAR LATER AND THE SAME SWITCH HAS GONE BAD AGAIN, I CALLED THE DEALER BUT WERE OVER THE 12,000 MILE WARRANTY. IT WILL COST ANOTHER $430 TO REPLACE AGAIN. *TR

SUMMARY: MULTIPLE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ARE MALFUNCTIONING. THE TACHOMETER IS READING 5,000 RPM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, AND 7,000 RPM WHEN GOING 15 MPH. WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF THE GAUGE SITS AT 2,000. THE SPEEDOMETER IS CLICKING UP (NOT A SMOOTH TRANSITION TO THE CORRECT SPEED). AND IT SHOWING A LESSER SPEED THEN I AM GOING. THE GAUGE CLUSTER ON MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER STOPPED WORKING OVER TWO YEARS AGO. FROM THE READOUT UPON MY DASHBOARD GAUGES, I HAVE NO IDEA AT WHAT SPEED I'M DRIVING, HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN MY TANK, WHAT IS THE ELECTRICAL SUPPLY FROM MY BATTERY, OR THE ENGINE'S OIL PRESSURE. THE TACHOMETER DOES NOT REGISTER PRM'S. THANKFULLY I USE A TOMTOM GPS TO GAUGE MY SPEED, AND THE ODOMETER DOES FUNCTION, SO I KNOW TO STOP FOR A FUEL REFILL EVERY 250-300 MILES TRAVELED. ON OUR WAY HOME AT ABOUT 10:45PM WE GOT ON THE ROAD CAR DROVE FINE WE JUMPED ON THE FWY IT WAS FOGGY AND REALLY HARD TO SEE WE WERE ON THE 54 FWY IN SAN DIEGO APPROACHING THE 805 SOUTH THERE IS A HIGH ON RAMP WE WERE GOING ABOUT 55 TO 60 AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I PUSHED ON GAS AND LOST ALL POWER TO VEHICLE IT SOUNDED LIKE I WAS IN NEUTRAL AND BECAUSE IT WAS UP HILL AND CURVED VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE US WITH JUST HAZARD LIGHTS ON. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER/2002, I DIDN'T EXPERIENCE ANY PROBLEMS UNTIL MAYBE THE FOURTH YEAR, GOING ON ITS 5TH; RIGHT BEFORE THE WARRANTY WAS ABOUT TO EXPIRE. THE FIRST PROBLEM I ENCOUNTERED WITH THE VEHICLE WAS THE TRANSMISSION. IT DIDN'T WANT TO CHANGE GEARS PROPERLY. BECAUSE OF THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY, THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO FIX THAT PROBLEM, AT THAT TIME. TODAY, I CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS: WITH A LOUD NOISE, A STRUGGLE IN HORSE POWER AND A VIBRATION WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON OTHER ELECTRICAL PARTS AS WELL. I HAVE PURCHASED OVER TEN LIGHT BULBS FOR REAR BRAKE LIGHTS THAT CONTINUE TO MALFUNCTION. I RECENTLY REPLACED A RELAY BECAUSE THE HEAD LIGHTS WOULD CONSTANTLY GO OUT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON. I REPLACED THE FAN CLUTCH AND WATER PUMP BECAUSE THEY BOTH WENT OUT. I ALSO REPLACED A BATTERY AND TWO STARTERS. FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS, MY VEHICLE SMELLS LIKE FUEL EVERYTIME I TURN IT ON. I AM ASKING THAT YOUR DEPARTMENT LOOK INTO ALL OF THESE CLAIMS. WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, IT PERIODICALLY WILL NOT START, LOSE ALL POWER, KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION WITHOUT ABILITY TO RETURN IGNITION TO OFF POSITION. THERE IS A SOUND (LIKE A HIGH VOLTAGE SOUND COMING FROM A TRANSFORMER) AND EVENTUALLY RESETS ITSELF, UNTIL 2 DAYS AGO. IT WOULD NOT RESET ITSELF, RESULTING IN IT BEING TOWED TO A REPAIR CENTER. THEY INDICATED IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AND BATTERY AND AFTER CHANGING BOTH, THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE HIGH VOLTAGE SOUND HAS RETURNED. THERE ARE TIMES THE REAR WIPER WILL TURN ON WITHOUT MY TOUCHING ANYTHING AND TIMES WHERE THE RPM GAGE WILL GET STUCK.

WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP LIGHT OR SLOWING DOWN THE CAR WILL TRY TO DIE AND AT TIMES HAD ACTUALLY DIED FOR NO REASON. SAFETY ISSUE!!!! I OWN A 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER. MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED ACTING UP A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND GOT WORSE THIS MONTH. OTHER TIMES IT WILL STAY ON ONE NUMBER AT NOT MOVE AT ALL. TWO WEEKS AGO I TURNED ON MY CAR AND THE NEEDLE WAS POINTING STRAIGHT DOWN TO THE ODOMETER. I BOUGHT A NEW BATTERY AND THAT DID NOT HELP. WE UNPLUGGED THE BATTERY FOR 30 MIN AND IT REST EVERYTHING. TWO DAYS LATER I WAS HAVING PROBLEMS AGAIN. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE GUY I TALKED TO ALSO KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS IN LESS THAN 5 MIN. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND CONTINUED TO BE IN CONTACT WITH CHEVY TO SEEK FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. I WAS TRANSFERRED UP TO THE NEXT STEP WHERE A VERY RUDE MAN DENIED MY CLAIM BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON MY CAR. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE ENTIRE THING AND THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ME WITH THE PARTS THAT THEY TOOK OFF MY CAR. THEN IN OCTOBER MY TACHOMETER STARTED ACTING UP, IT BROKE NOVEMBER 24, 2010. THE SPEEDOMETER BROKE ON DECEMBER 3, 2010. I HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE CLUTCH FAN GOING OUT AND THE CLUSTER GOING OUT ON THE INTERNET. SOMEONE AT WORK HAD A PROBLEM WITH THEIR ENVOY AND IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT AND THEIR CLUTCH FAN GOING OUT. ALL AT FAIRLY LOW MILEAGE. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM FOR NOT WANTING TO REPAIR THESE ISSUES SO THE CONSUMER BEARS THE COSTS OF REPAIR WHICH IS ABOUT 500 FOR THE CLUTCH FAN AND THERMOSTAT AND 400 FOR THE CLUSTER.

DRIVING ALONG AND SPEEDOMETER SHOWED ALMOST 100MPH. AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE THE SPEED READ ABOUT 30MPH. CALL THE CHEVROLET DEALER AND THEY STATED THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM, AND WELL KNOWN WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS. THEY STATED THAT IT WAS THE CLUSTER PANEL AND GM WAS REPAIRING ALMOST ALL THE VEHICLES BUT THE TRAILBLAZER. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THE TRAILBLAZER TO COLLEGE AND THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME WHICH IS A DANGER NOT KNOWING WHAT SPEED YOU ARE GOING. MY 2003 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER'S SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT WORK. THOUGHT I WAS GOING 65MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND OTHER CARS WERE ZIPPING PAST ME TURNED OUT I WAS ONLY GOING 51 MPH. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED AND THE SPEEDOMETER WAS JUST STUCK ON 51. I LOOKED ON-LINE TO SEE IF ANYBODY HAD, SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND TO MY SURPRISE THERE WERE 100'S IF NOT 1000'S OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEMS. CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT A "SAFETY HAZARD", HOW CAN NOT KNOWING YOUR EXACT SPEED ALL THE TIME NOT BE A SAFETY HAZARD??? GRANTED THERE WERE NO INCIDENTS BUT EVENTUALLY SOMETHING WILL HAPPEN, NOT TO MENTION THE FACT THAT NOT KNOWING YOUR SPEED COULD CAUSE YOU TO GET PULLED OVER BY THE POLICE. IT WILL COST CONSUMERS BETWEEN 400-600 DOLLARS TO FIX, WHEN IT IS A MANUFACTURES DEFECT, TO WHOM WE THE TAXPAYERS JUST BAILED OUT. 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER SPEEDOMETER FAILED *GR THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD REGISTER AS HIGH AS 120 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WAS AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED IT WOULD COST $550 FOR A REPLACEMENT CLUSTER. THE REAR PASSENGER TAILLIGHT AND PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT BURNED OUT AND WAS REPLACED. THE WATER PUMP AND SERPENTINE BELT WERE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC NOTED A BROKEN BOLT IN THE WATER PUMP THAT HELD DOWN THE HOUSING AND THE BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. *JB

LAST DEC I WAS DRIVING AND MY TACHOMETER BEGAN READING HIGHER THAN EXPECTED. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE TO REFUEL, THE TACHOMETER CONTINUED TO READ ~3000 RPM. MY VEHICLE HAD APPROX. 38K MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. I RESEARCHED THIS SYMPTOM AND FOUND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT WAS ADDRESSED BY A RECALL ON OTHER GM VEHICLES USING THE SAME INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS. ONE SOLUTION IS TO REMOVE A FUSE AND THEN TURN ON THE IGNITION SWITCH. THIS RESETS THE CLUSTER. HOWEVER, THIS IS TEMPORARY AND THE PROBLEM SOON RETURNS. IT IS HIT/MISS AT EACH IGNITION TURN WHETHER THE GAUGE WILL READ WHAT APPEARS TO BE CORRECT FUEL LEVEL. WHEN THE ISSUE IS OCCURRING, THE GAUGE DOES NOT DO THE ?ZERO? RESET CALIBRATION. I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THIS COULD BE THE STEPPER MOTOR IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER (KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT GM REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE FOR THIS MODEL VEHICLE) OR THE SENDING UNIT. ONE OR MORE OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INTERMITTENTLY MALFUNCTIONS. THE FIRST INDICATION WAS THE GAS GAUGE, WHICH WHEN THE GAS TANK WAS FILLED, THE NEEDLE POINTED STRAIGHT DOWN, THEN WOULD CHANGE TO RANDOM AREAS ON THE GAUGE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A RESULT OF THE FLOAT IN THE GAS TANK STICKING, UNTIL THE NEEDLE POINTED TO DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE GAUGE AT DIFFERENT TIMES; NO RHYME OR REASON, AND WAS NOT CONSISTENT WITH A "STICKING FLOAT". THEN THE TACHOMETER WOULD READ 5,000 RPM WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, AND 7,000 RPM WHEN GOING 35 MPH, AND WOULD POINT STRAIGHT DOWN AT OTHER TIMES. THEN THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ VERY RANDOM SPEEDS, NEVER CONSISTENT, AND SOMETIMES WILL READ OVER 120 MPH. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE READS DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES, AND THE NEEDLE SOMETIMES POINTS STRAIGHT DOWN. THOUGH THESE MALFUNCTIONS ARE RANDOM AMONG THE GAUGES, THEY ARE CONSTANT AS A WHOLE; ON A DAILY BASIS. ALL OF THESE MALFUNCTIONS COULD BE A SAFETY CONCERN. I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I HAVE, WHICH COULD BE DANGEROUS IF I RAN OUT WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 70 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER IS INACCURATE, WHICH COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, WHETHER TRAVELING TOO FAST OR TOO SLOW, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE IS INACCURATE, WHICH COULD CAUSE SEVERE BURNS IF THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED, BUT FAILED TO REFLECT THAT ON THE GAUGE, AND SIMILAR SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE TACHOMETER, WHICH COULD ALSO RESULT IN SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE. CHECKING WITH LOCAL MECHANICS, THEY ADVISE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THEY SEE WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. THEY INFORM ME THAT NUMEROUS RECALLS ARE AVAILABLE IN THE TAHOE AND SILVERADO FOR THIS SAME ISSUE IN THE 03 MODEL. I HAVE LODGED A COMPLAINT WITH CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE. CURRENTLY, NO RECALL IS IN EFFECT FOR THIS DEFECT (MY TRUCK JUST TURNED 80,000 MILES). THE ESTIMATE I'VE RECEIVED TO CORRECT THIS DEFECT IS AROUND $400 TO $600 DEPENDING ON WHO SERVICES THE VEHICLE. I HAVE AN 2003 TRAILBLAZER WITH A BAD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER(SPEEDO, TACH, GAS GAUGE, TEMP) ALL NOT WORKING! ALL OF CHEVY VEHICLES IN THIS CLASS( TAHOE, SILVERADO) HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM EXCEPT FOR THE TRAILBLAZER. THIS SEEMS A BIT RIDICULOUS TO ME CONSIDERING THE PART NUMBERS FOR THE CLUSTERS ARE ALL EXACTLY THE SAME. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST AROUND $500 FOR THE REPAIR. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND WAS TOLD IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH THOUSANDS OF THEIR VEHICLES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE EXACT SAME PART NUMBERS. I HAD TO BUY A GPS SYSTEM JUST SO I COULD KNOW HOW FAST I AM TRAVELING BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD THE FULL REPAIR COST, NOR DO I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO. I HAVE DONE PLENTY OF ONLINE RESEARCH AND HAVE FOUND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS IDENTICAL TO MINE. MY PROBLEM IS THAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY RECALLED THE TAHOES AND SILVERADOS AND NOT THE TRAILBLAZER WHEN THE PART NUMBERS ARE IDENTICAL. *TR

PURCHASED 2003 TRAILBLAZER, 1 MONTH AFTER PURCHASE, SPEEDOMETER AND RPM GAUGE ERRATICALLY MOVING CONSISTENTLY. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET AND OBSERVING THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE I FELT COMPELLED TO NOT ONLY WRITE A LETTER TO GM, BUT ALSO TO WRITE COMPLAINTS TO EVERYONE I COULD POSSIBLY THINK OF TO WRITE A LETTER TO REGARDING THIS PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS NOT REGISTERING THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL. OCCASIONALLY, THE GAUGE WOULD INDICATE THAT NO FUEL WAS PRESENT IN THE VEHICLE AT ALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED AND NO REPAIRS WERE MADE AT THAT TIME. ONE YEAR LATER, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE, ACTUATOR ON THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEATING SYSTEM, AND THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE ACTUATOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT THE COST OF $720. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT NO COMPENSATION WOULD BE PROVIDED BECAUSE THE FAILURE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THESE SPEEDOMETER CEASES TO WORK IN COLD WEATHER. IT WILL SHOW 40 OR EVEN 80 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE IT STOPPED AT A STOPLIGHT. MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER LTZ NEEDS A SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER. THIS FIRST STARTED HAPPENING AT APPROX. 59,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE 61,000 MILES ON MY CAR, AND GM REFUSES TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE TO MY CAR. IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM ON OTHER CHEVY MODELS, BUT GM CLAIMS THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PROBLEMS WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS TO "FIX" THIS PROBLEM. MY ESTIMATE IS $390.00 + TAX AFTER PAYING $106.00 FOR THEM TO ANALYZE THE PROBLEM AND TELL ME IT IS BROKEN (WHICH I KNEW BECAUSE THE SPEEDOMETER READING 92 MPH WITH THE ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE DEALERSHIP GARAGE). ORIGINALLY, IT BEGAN WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. EVERY SO OFTEN IT WOULD READ INCORRECTLY, BOTH LOW AND HIGH. AS IT HAPPENED A LITTLE MORE OFTEN, I BEGAN ASKING AROUND TO FIND OUT IF OTHERS I WOULD MEET HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME TYPE OF DEFECT, I FOUND THIS TO BE A MORE COMMON PROBLEM. AS TIME PASSED I SIMPLY IGNORED THE PROBLEM UNTIL AFTER TOWING A FEW CANOES UP TO A LAKE AND THE TACHOMETER STARTED READING VERY HIGH, DESPITE THE MOTOR IDLING NORMALLY. EVENTUALLY, THE TACH WENT BACK TO NORMAL, BUT SHORTLY AFTER ACTED UP AGAIN. ALL THE WHILE THE FUEL GAUGE IS STILL NOT WORKING PROPERLY, GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE THE NEEDLE IS COMPLETELY INVERTED. THEN THE VOLTMETER BEGAN TO CLIMB, GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE THE NEEDLE IS REGISTERING OFF THE SCALE. SO NOW THE FUEL GAUGE AND THE VOLTMETER ARE COMPLETELY AND OBVIOUSLY REGISTERING OUTSIDE OF THEIR SET PARAMETERS, BUT THE TACH IS OFTEN SUSPECT AS WELL. *TR

ALL OTHER FUSES AND WIRING TO IGNITION WERE FOUND TO BE "OK". 2ND-CURRENT INCIDENT (OCTOBER 2006): VEHICLE TOOK SEVERAL TIMES TO START (SAME AS ORIGINAL PROBLEM). VEHICLE WOULD TURNOVER BUT WOULD NOT START ENGINE. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE BATTERY DIED. CURRENT EVALUATION FROM SERVICE TECH IS THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH IS BAD. I OWN A CHEVY TRAILBLAZER LS 2003 AND RECENTLY MY DIM HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED NUMEROUS BULB IN THE LAST 2 MONTHS AND RECENTLY I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHT HARNESS WIRING HAS BEEN SHORTED OUT AND FRIED. THE ODD THING IS THAT BOTH DIM HEADLIGHT HARNESS ARE FRIED. I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLE FAIRLY WELL AND TRY TO KEEP THINGS IN WORKING ORDER. I CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY COMPLAINTS OR RECALL OF THE HARNESS. TWO YEARS AGO I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT SYSTEM AND FINALLY AFTER REPLACING A HUGE NUMBER OF BULBS, THE CHEVY COMPANY RECALLED THE MOTHER BOARDS ON THE TAIL LIGHTS. WITH THE DIM LIGHTS GOING OUT WHEN EVER THEY WANT, PUTS THE DRIVER AND OTHER DRIVERS AT RISK. AN EXAMPLE OF THIS IS ON SATURDAY NIGHT ON MY WAY HOME AT 8:30PM, I NOTICED THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY DIM LIGHTS. SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLOSED. NEXT DAY FUEL GAUGE APPEARS CORRECT. AFTER A WEEK REFUELED AND NOTICED FUEL GAUGE WAS INCORRECT AGAIN. NOTICED STRONG GAS ODOR WHEN VEHICLE IS STARTED & VEHICLE SMOKING. CALLED TO SCHEDULE REPAIRS ON 2/28/06. WAS UNABLE TO MAKE APPOINTMENT RESCHEDULED FOR TUES 3/9/06. BEATY INFORMED THAT IT MUST BE GUAGE SENSOR AND NOT RELATED TO PREVIOUS REPAIR WORK SO ANOTHER $200. DEDUCTIBLE WOULD BE DUE. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT FUEL ODOR NOR SMOKING. I DISAGREED WITH THE $200 CHARGE DUE TO VEHICLE BEING DEFECTIVE WHEN I PICKED IT UP FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON THE FIRST VISIT. BEATY CHEV. SINCE JANUARY OF 2005 MY 2003 TRAIL BLAZER HAS BEEN BLOWING THE IGNITION FUSE EVERY TIME I START MY TRUCK. IT WILL TRY UNTIL I TURN IT OFF AND THAN NO POWER. WHEN THIS HAPPENS MY TURN SIGNALS GO OUT, AND MY GAUGE GOES HAY WIRE. I THOUGHT IT HAD TO DO WITH MY REMOTE START, AND I HAD THAT COMPLETELY REMOVED. NOW IT DOES IT MORE OFTEN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY CHARGED ME $20 TO PUT A FUSE BACK IN WHICH I TOLD THE DEALERSHIP THAT IS WHAT I HAVE TO DO TO GET IT STARTED, BUT IT WILL BLOW AGAIN. BEFORE I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP THE FUSE BLOW THE SERVICE MANAGER JUST CAME OUT AND REPLACED THE FUSE AGAIN AND DID NOT CARE THAT IT WAS GOING TO BLOW AGAIN. HE BASICALLY JUST WANTED ME TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP. GUESS WHAT BEFORE I EVEN TURNED OUT THE FUSE WAS BLOWN AGAIN. COMPLAINT RECEIVED VIA E-MAIL." I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE THE DEFECTS DISCOVERED ON MY VEHICLE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS ON OCTOBER 2003. FEW MONTHS I DROVE MY TRAILBLAZER, I WAS STUCK AT THE AIRPORT BECAUSE IT WON'T START AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR WHICH LASTED FOR 3 DAYS. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS JUST A CASE OF LOW BATTERY POWER. I WAS NOT IN AGREEMENT WITH THEIR REASON. I WROTE GM HEADQUARTERS DEMANDING AN EXCHANGE OR REPLACEMENT OF THE TRUCK. THEY DECLINED MY REQUEST, INSTEAD THEY OFFERED ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE FOLLOWING YEAR, I WAS DRIVING AT AROUND 25 MPH, WHEN I CHANGED GEAR ALL OF A SUDDEN THE GEAR SHIFTER CAME LOOSE AND PRACTICALLY DETACHED IT'S LINKAGE. I PANICKED AND SLOWLY PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE SHIFTER FOR FREE. THEN JUST THIS MONTH I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT AROUND 50 MPH, I NOTICED THE RPM WAS BETWEEN 7-8 AND THE ENGINE REVVED HARD, BUT THERE WAS NO POWER. THE SPEED REMAINED CONSTANT EVEN WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL FULLY. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS DEFECTIVE AND THEY REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. AC QUIT WORKING. TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO A FIND COMPRESSOR FAILURE. THE COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED. LATEST AND WORST FAILURE WAS A TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. ONLY THE ITEMS CONTROLLED BY THE RAP WERE FUNCTIONAL. THE VEHICLE QUIT RUNNING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. COULD NOT BE RESTARTED AND THE TRANSMISSION COULD NOT BE MOVED FROM THE PARK POSITION. VEHICLE HAD TO BE LEFT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND ABANDON FOR SAFETY OF THE PASSENGERS. THIS WAS ALSO A HAZARD TO OTHER VEHICLES. I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH MY TRAIL BLAZER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE PROBLEM WAS ANNUNCIATED BY THE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE WAS WHILE I WAS MERGING AT A TOLL PLAZA IN CHICAGO THAT CLEARED AFTER STOPPING THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING. I EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH MY TRAIL BLAZER ABOUT A MONTH AGO. THE PROBLEM WAS ANNUNCIATED BY THE ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER. SEVERAL WEEKS LATER THE SECOND TIME THE PROBLEM RECURRED WAS ON A SECONDARY ROAD AND THIRD TIME WHILE MAKING A LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE LIGHT DID NOT CLEAR. MY 11-MONTH OLD 2003 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER HAS HAD MULTIPLE QUALITY PROBLEMS, TWICE AFFECTING MY SAFETY. MOST OF THE PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. THE 4WD HAS BECOME INOPERABLE NUMEROUS TIMES, ONCE WHILE DRIVING IN SNOW. IN ANOTHER INCIDENT DURING A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM AT NIGHT THE AIR CONDITIONER (A/C) FAILED AND I WAS UNABLE TO DEFROST MY WINDSHIELD IN ORDER TO SEE. AFTER ONE DEALER FAILED TO DIAGNOSE THE 4WD PROBLEM, ANOTHER DEALER REPLACED MY IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE THE TECHNICIAN SAID I HAD NO POWER AT ALL GOING TO THE "REAR GRID." I CONTINUE TO HAVE INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS, INCLUDING NEAR STALLING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, AND ONGOING 4WD FAILURES. THE CAR ALSO HAS VERY JERKY MOTION WHEN IN 4WD REVERSE, OF COURSE, WHEN THE 4WD IS WORKING AT ALL. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT WAS NORMAL AND NOW I SEE THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE PROBLEM. *LA

OUR WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE INOPERABLE. THE WIPER SWITCH WAS TURNED ON WITH ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSE FROM THE WIPERS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED IT. HOWEVER, OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS KEEP OCCURRING. FOR EXAMPLE, OUR AIR CONDITIONING SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED, THE ONSTAR DID NOT SEND TRACKING INFORMATION PROPERLY, THE ALTERNATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THE FAN FOR THE HEATER WOULD NOT WORK AT ANY SPEED EXCEPT LOW. WE HAVE ONLY HAD THIS VEHICLE SINCE AUGUST. I AM THINKING THAT THIS IN AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM INSTEAD OF EACH INDIVIDUAL PIECE BEING FAULTY. LOST TOTAL ELECTRICAL POWER/STALLED WHILE IDLING AT FIRST, THEN WHEN GOING ABOUT 35 MPH. DEALER "RESET" COMPUTER ACCORDING TO A SERVICE BULLETIN WHICH SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. SERVICE BULLETIN SAYS IT IS OCCURS WHEN MODULE ON POWERTRAIN CHECKS EVAP SYSTEM, THERE IS SOME TYPE OF A "GLITCH" WHICH SHUTS EVERYTHING DOWN. ACCORDING TO GM, THERE IS NO FIX YET FOR THE PROBLEM. MY CONCERN IS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THIS COULD HAPPEN AND CAUSE CRASH BECAUSE THERE IS NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE. IF IT HAPPENS DURING NIGHT, OTHER DRIVERS WILL NOT SEE ME BECAUSE ALL LIGHTS GO OUT, POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES ARE LOST. RESETTING THE COMPUTER DID NOT HELP AS IT HAPPENED WITHIN 2 DAYS AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE 2003 TRAILBLAZER FOR 7 MONTHS AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 7 TIMES-2 TIMES FOR THE COOLANT SYSTEM-1 TIME FOR MY MASTER CYLINDER-3 TIMES FOR MY CIRCUIT BOARDS-NOW FOR MY STEERING AND MY STARTER( I BELIEVE MY TRUCK IS IN THE SHOP AS I AM TYPING THIS LETTER) I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO WORK WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND GM BUT NO ONE IS TRYING TO REPLACE MY TRUCK WITH SOMETHING THAT IS NOT IN THE SHOP EVERY MONTH. TAIL LIGHT IS CONTINUOUSLY BURNING OUT WITHOUT WARNING. CAUSE UNKNOWN.*AK THE RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT BURNED OUT ON 07/17/03. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER TO GET THE HEADLIGHT REPLACED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL AND REPLACED THE CIRCUIT BOARD. CONSUMER QUESTIONED WHETHER THE REAR SAFETY HAZARD WOULD BE REPAIRED IF CHEVROLET IS JUST CHANGING BULBS WITHOUT FIXING THE CIRCUIT BOARD. *PH *NLM

ON 7/26/2003, THE OWNER HEARD THE MOTOR RUNNING WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OFF. THE OWNER DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY TO STOP THE MOTOR FROM RUNNING. THIS CAUSED THE OWNER TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS BUT THE HATCH WOULD NOT LOCK MANUALLY. ON 7/31/2003, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO FOUND A SHORT IN A WIRE UNDER THE HOOD AND CORRECTED THE PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE DETAILS. *PH CONSUMER STATED THERE IS NO WAY TO OPEN THE REAR HATCH IF THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THERE IS NO MECHANICAL DEVICE TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THE HATCH DOOR. VEHICLE'S DASH GAUGES CAME ON AND SPEEDOMETER STARTED FLUCTUATING AFTER 35 MILES DRIVING AND VEHICLE STALLED OUT, NOT BEING ABLE TO RESTART. COMPUTER WAS REPLACED BY DEALER. PROBLEM AROSE AGAIN ABOUT A WEEK LATER. GM HAD DEALER REPLACE ANOTHER PART IN I BELIEVE THE IGNITION KEY AREA. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN IN A COUPLE WEEKS AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT START FOR DEALER AFTER IT WAS DRIVEN THERE. DEALER FOUND WIRE CONNECTION IN WIRING HARNESS TO COMPUTER WAS NOT MAKING CONTINUOUS CONTACT AT A CONNECTION. ALSO DEALER HAD TO REPLACE A SWITCH WHEN THE A/C WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY. LUCKILY I HAVE A GOOD EFFICIENT DEALER AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHO CARES ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. *JB
