SPEEDOMETER FIRST SHOWED SPEED OF 60 WHEN SITTING STILL. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTING IT 3 TIMES AND THE SPEEDOMETER RESET. BUT A FEW DAYS LATER IT ONCE AGAIN STUCK AND I HAD JUST STARTED IT. THIS TIME AT 48 AT ALL TIMES WHETHER THE ENGINE IS ON OR OFF, IDLING OF TRAVELING. IT CONTINUES TO BE STUCK AT 48 AT ALL TIMES, NEVER DECREASING OR INCREASING.

THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BECOME UNRELIABLE; IT STICKS / JERKS WHILE DRIVING AFTER WHICH IT DOES NOT DISPLAY AN ACCURATE SPEED. I'VE HAD MY SPEEDOMETER READ 30MPH WHILE COMPLETELY STOPPED. IT HAS A GREATER TENDENCY TO STICK AROUND 50-60MPH. REPEATEDLY STARTING THE ENGINE, CAUSING THE SPEEDOMETER TO GO THROUGH ITS RESET CYCLE WILL MOVE THE NEEDLE BACK TO 0MPH IN APPROXIMATELY 5MPH INCREMENTS FOR EVERY START. THIS ONLY PROVIDES A BIT OF RELIABILITY FOR SHORT TRIPS.

ALSO, THE ROTORS WERE WARPED, DUE TO RUST BY CLIMATE, THE REAR BRAKES PADS WERE WORN AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE MACHINED. THERE WAS AN INTERMITTENT SURGE AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THERE WAS A SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE PASSENGER SIDE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE BLOWING OUT. THE TAIL LIGHT CIRCUIT BOARD WAS REPLACED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, DUE TO A FAULTY EMISSION VENT VALVE AND HOSE ASSEMBLY. THE ABS WAS ENGAGING, WHEN COMING TO A STOP. UPDATED 10/01/14

CLUSTER GAUGES ARE GOING OUT. THE SPEEDOMETER QUICK WORKING A FEW YEARS AGO AND IS INTERMITTENT AT BEST ON A DAILY BASIS. IT EITHER INDICATES A LESSER OR GREATER SPEED THAN ACTUAL OR JUST FALLS TO POINT STRAIGHT DOWN. I HAVE BEEN USING A MOUNTED GPS TO INDICATE SPEED. INITIAL REPAIR COST ESTIMATES WERE $500+ FOR THE PARTS SINCE THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER. WITH LABOR, THE ESTIMATE WAS IN EXCESS OF $800. FUEL GAUGE IS NOW INOPERATIVE OR INTERMITTENT. WHEN I FILL THE TANK, THE FUEL GAUGE READS WAY PAST THE FULL LINE. HAVING TO RELY OF THE FUEL TO EMPTY AND THE FUEL USED COMPUTER INFORMATION ALONG WITH THE TRIP METER TO ESTIMATE FUEL. RECEIVED ANOTHER ESTIMATE FOR A MECHANIC TO PULL THE GAUGE CLUSTER AND REBUILD EACH INDIVIDUAL GAUGE MOTOR FOR AN ESTIMATE OF $500. BASED UPON THE NUMBER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME THING, THIS APPEARS TO BE A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY GM. *TR

I DO PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE TO KEEP MY CAR IN GOOD WORKING CONDITION. I'M A SINGLE PARENT I NEED MY CAR. MY ENTIRE DASHBOARD STOPPED WORKING AFTER GETTING STUCK ON AND OFF. THE FUEL GAUGE WAS LAST TO GO 3 DAYS AGO. I FILL UP MY TANK IT STILL READS EMPTY WITH THE LIGHT. MY TAILGATE DOOR THE LATCH LOCKS UP. I MANUALLY HAVE TO MOVE TO LATCH SO IT CLOSES. I WENT INTO TOWN TO GRAB DINNER AND AS I AM DRIVING ALONG, MY HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE ONLY THING THAT REMAINED ON, WERE THE ORANGE TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. I FRANTICALLY TURNED THE HEADLIGHT KNOB ON AN OFF AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY, HOWEVER IT WAS NIGHT TIME AND I HAD NO HEADLIGHTS. I ENDED UP PULLING OVER TO THE GRAVEL SIDE OF THE ROAD, AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. NOW I AM STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT TIME, WITH NO WORKING HEADLIGHTS. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND GOT OUT, TAPPED THE HEADLIGHTS AND LOOKED FOR ANY PHYSICAL DAMAGE AND DID NOT FIND AN ANSWER. UPON STARTING THE CAR AGAIN, IT SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HAD TURNED ON A VACUUM CLEANER. THE NOISE PITCHED UP FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS BEFORE PITCHING BACK DOWN. AFTER RE-STARTING THE OIL PRESSURE GAUGE MOVED FROM ITS NORMAL POSITION AT "12 O'CLOCK" TO AN ABNORMAL "6 O'CLOCK". I TRIED TO CALL ONSTAR FOR A VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC, HOWEVER NOW MY RADIO WOULD NOT WORK EITHER. I TRIED THE HEADLIGHTS AGAIN, AND THEY STILL WOULD NOT TURN ON. I TURNED ON MY HIGH BEAMS, AND PROCEEDED BACK HOME. WHILE EN ROUTE MY SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 10MPH OVER MY ACTUAL SPEED. WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, THE SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT 10MPH. I FIND IT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THESE THINGS HAPPENED ALL AT ONCE AS A COINCIDENCE. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN AS I LOST THE ABILITY TO SEE AT NIGHT, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY TO MONITOR MY SPEED ALL WHILE TRYING TO DRIVE. AFTER FILLING UP MY GAS TANK THE FUEL SENSOR READ EMPTY AND THE GAS LIGHT WAS ON. ALSO, WHIEL DRIVING THE FUEL SENSOR WOULD JUMP AROUND SHOWING EMPTY, FULL AND THE GAS LIGHT WOULD COME ON. THE VEHCILE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AT THE TIME SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE SERVICE REP AT THE DEALERSHIP INIDCATED THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL SENSOR AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. HE MENTIONED THAT I WAS LUCKY THE VEHICLE WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE REPAIR WAS VERY COSTLY. MY VEHICLE OCCASSIONALY LURCHES WHEN IT PUT INOT GEAR FROM BEING PARKED OR IDLE AS IF IT WANTS TO JUST TAKE OFF RIGHT AWAY. I CONTACTED GM ON THIS AND THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, BUT I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM. ANOTHER ISSUDE I HAVE HAD WAS MY SPEEDOMETER AND ENTIRE DASH CLUSTER FAILING. WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE MY SPEEDOMETER JUMPED TO OVER 100 MPH AND THEN BACK DOWN TO 0. AT THAT POINT IT STOPPED WORKING FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN STARTED WORKING PROPERLY AGAIN. FINALLY IT STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. I SENT GM A LETTER WITH A COPY OF THE REPAIR BILL ALONG WITH DOCUMENTATION OF THE MANY COMPLAINTS I FOUND ONLINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HEARD NOTHING. I BASED MY SPEED OFF MY RPM & CALCULATE MY GAS MILEAGE AFTER EACH FILL UP. NOW MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE DIMMING & I'VE NOTICED ON MANY OCCASIONS MY HEADLIGHTS FLICKER...I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY TWICE & THE WATER PUMP TWICE. THE GAUGE LATER STUCK AT FIRST 20 - 15 MPH, AND THEN TO 10 MPH WHEN THE SUV IS STOPPED. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS, IT CORRECTED ITSELF. THE GAS GAUGE THEN WENT OUT. IT WOULD REGISTER THE TANK AS EMPTY NO MATTER IF IT WAS FILLED. THIS BEGAN 2/2010. I, A DISABLED DRIVER, HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS ON A DESERTED ROAD 12:15 A.M. IN THE WINTER DUE TO HAVING TO CALCULATE MILES DRIVEN WITH THE TACHOMETER TO DETERMINE APPROXIMATE GAS CONSUMPTION. UNFORTUNATELY, THAT CALCULATION DOESN'T ACCOUNT FOR ENGINE IDLING IN TRAFFIC JAMS . I SAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD IN MY COLD SUV PRAYING NO ONE CAME AROUND THE CURVE AND SLAMMED INTO ME SINCE I RAN OUT OF GAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A DARK RURAL ROAD. I WAS TERRIFIED IN THIS SITUATION AND RARELY DRIVE AT NIGHT IF I CAN HELP IT BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURER'S KNOWN DEFECT AND NEGLIGENCE. I HAVE PAID OVER $500 TO REPAIR THESE MANUFACTURES DEFECTS, ONLY TO HAVE THEM MALFUNCTION AGAIN WITHIN 1 WEEK OF REPAIR. I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT HE WOULD NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX IT A SECOND TIME. ONCE AGAIN, MY SPEEDOMETER IS NO LONGER REGISTERING THE CORRECT SPEED, AND I HAVE BEEN PULLED OVER BY A POLICE OFFICER FOR SPEEDING. I SHOWED THE OFFICER MY SPEEDOMETER, AND TO MY SURPRISE HE LET ME OFF WITH A WARNING AND TOLD ME THAT HE HAS PULLED OVER OTHER TRAILBLAZER DRIVERS FOR SPEEDING WHO IN TURN HAD THE SAME OR SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR SPEEDOMETERS. I HAVE HAD INTERIOR LIGHTS MALFUNCTION, AND DRIVER SIDE HEAD LIGHT MALFUNCTIONS WHERE THE LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. THE HEADLIGHT WAS CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND WAS NOT DEEMED LOOSE OR BLOWN.

IT WOULD HAVE TAKEN OVER 2HRS FOR TOWING ASSISTANCE SO SHE TRAVELED THE REST OF THE TRIP (APPROX 105MILES) FOLLOWING ANOTHER VEHICLE IN HOPES THAT THEY WERE TRAVELING AT A SAFE SPEED. THE FOLLOWING DAY I RESEARCH THIS ISSUE, BROUGTH MY VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY EXPLAINED IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH A 05 TRAILBLAZER AND THE GM HAD A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT FOR REPLACEMENT OF THIS PART THEY STATE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, WE LATER FOUND OUT THAT OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THIS LITIGATION AND WE WERE STUCK PAYING THE BILL. NOT ONLY DOES GM KNOW THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, THEY ARE UNWILLING TO COMPENSATE OR TAKE CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS. MY 2005 TRAILBLAZER INSTRUMENT PANEL CONSTANTLY FAILS - THE SPEEDOMETER STOPS WORKING WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THE GAS GAUGE HAS BEEN FIXED ONCE ALREADY AND IS NOW BROKEN AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS POWER SURGES WHICH IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS THE CAR UP AND DOWN WHEN TRYING TO SLOW DOWN CAUSING POWER SURGES. THIS IS ANOTHER SAFETY ISSUE. THE FOLLOWING ARE OTHER ISSUES WHICH THIS MODEL VEHICLE: STEREO CD PLAYER STOPPED WORKING, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE GAS CAP LIGHT, THE LIGHTS FLICKER ALSO. I OUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED AND WITH A CRACKED FRONT BUMPER WHICH THE DEALER DIDN'T FIX (DEALER STUCK A LITTLE BONDO ON AREA AND REPAINTED IT SO I THOUGHT IT WAS A NEW BUMPER WHEN I ACCEPTED THE CAR AFTER REPAIR. IT CRACKED IN A MATTER OF DAYS) AND I KNOW THIS WAS CAUSED DUE TO THE SURGES IN POWER. A SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. THE VEHICLE HAS SERIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS THE CHEVROLET SHOULD STAND BEHIND AND FIX. IT IS NOT FAIR TO THE CONSUMER. I HAVE CHECKED THE WEB AND HAVE READ MANY, MANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. IT CORRECTED IT SELF AND FOR A COUPLE DAYS IT WAS FINE AGAIN. THEN IT STARTED REPEATING SAME FAILURE, AND STAYED THE SAME. IT WAS TAKEN INTO A GMC DEALER AND THE REPAIR WAS DONE. THE SPEEDOMETER WAS REPLACED, WITH A TOTAL BILL OF $463.09, PAID MY MYSELF, SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS JUST BARELY OVER.

IN SHOP VERY 1ST WEEK OF PURCHASE. 2. BEEN COMPLAINING OF FLICKERING LIGHTS. WAS HANDED A GMC PRINTOUT STATING THEY DID NOT KNOW CAUSE. SO THEREFORE THE DEALERSHIP, HOOD CHEVROLET, COVINGTON LA. COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. 3. COMPLAINED OF ENGINE ACCELERATION WHILE APPLYING BRAKE, COMING TO A STOP OR A SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT. FEAR THAT I MAY CRASH INTO SOMEONE. RECEIVED PRINTOUT FROM GM STATING THIS WAS NORMAL. BUT I SEE THIS IS A HAZARD. 4. COMPLAINED OF SEAT BELT "RIDING" ON THE NECKLINE, RESTRICTING BLOOD FLOW IN LEFT ARTERY ON NECK. I SEE THIS A MAJOR PROBLEM. I COMMUTE 26 MILES ONE WAY TO WORK AT A HOSPITAL. I THOUGHT I WOULD BE SAFER DRIVING MY TRAILBLAZER, NOW I FEAR FOR MY LIFE. 5. COMPLAINED OF POPPING ON FRONT END. SERVICE HAD TO ORDER SWAY LINKS AND REPLACE. DID NOT SOLVE PROBLEM, STILL HAVE FRONTAL POPPING WHILE TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT, REVERSE AND FORWARD. IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. WENT TO GET OFF OF EXIT AND WHEN I STOPPED IT DIDN'T GO BACK TO 0 INSTEAD WHEN I STARTED DRIVING AGAIN IT WENT BELOW 120 AND WAS HANGING DIRECTLY DOWN.
