The headlamps have quit working when driving at night but will come back on later. This has happened several times. I found GM recall number 14291 that is supposed to include 2006 Chevy Trailblazers and pertains to this problem. The local dealership told us that our vehicle has a vin number that is not covered. It would seem that all model 2006 Chevy Trailblazers would use the same HDM modules in them when they were built. Is ours covered?

LOW BEAMS SOMETIMES FLICKER ON AND OFF AND THEN AT NIGHT WHILE IM DRIVING THEY WILL JUST GO OUT AND STAY OUT.
While driving both low beam headlights turned off. This has now happened on more than one occasion.
Low beam headlights stop working, when driving at night. This problem is happening frequently.

THE AIRBAG DEACTIVATED LIGHT ON THE DASH CLUSTER COMES ON AND OFF BUT MOSTLY STAYS ON NOW. NO CODES SHOWING THE CAUSE. WHILE DRIVING BOTH LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY TURNED OFF, LATER DIAGNOSIS SHOWED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT MELTED BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHT CONNECTORS AND WIRES AT THE BULB END, NEW CONNECTORS WERE INSTALLED. TWO DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN 1YR THE HEATER BLOWER MOTOR RELAY HAS GOTTEN HOT ENOUGH TO MELT THE CONNECTOR AND BURN OUT THE RELAY, CONNECTOR REPLACED TWICE AND CURRENTLY MELTING AGAIN AS FAN SPEED 1, 4, AND 5 HAVE AGAIN STOPPED WORKING. HEATER BLOWER MOTOR ALSO REPLACED TWICE CONCURRENT WITH RELAY.

DAYLIGHT/HEADLIGHTS SOMETIMES DO NOT TURN ON UPON STARTING TRUCK AND ALSO HAVE SHUT OFF SEVEN DIFFERENT TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT FORCING ME TO DRIVE WITH FOG LIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS ON ENDANGERING NOT ONLY THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC, BUT MY FAMILY WHICH INCLUDES A 5 AND 9 YEAR OLD CHILD. AS STATED IN THE RECALL AND WHICH IS THE EXACT ACTION OCCURRING NOT EVERY TIME BUT (7 TIMES)1 TIME ALONE IS ENOUGH TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME AND MY FAMILY, THE HEADLAMP DRIVER MODULE (HDM) MAY OVERHEAT AND FAIL, CAUSING THE HEADLAMPS AND DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE.THIS IS THE RECALL ON THIS ISSUE CURRENTLY WHICH 2006-2007 CHEVY TRAILBLAZERS, YET HENDRICKS CHEVY SAYS THAT MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. MY LIGHTS STARTED GOING OUT QUITE A WHILE AGO, FOR NO REASON AT ALL. WHEN IT FIRST STARTED THEY WOULD GO OUT FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME, AND AS TIME WENT ON I HAD TO REVERT TO USING MY HIGH BEAMS, BECAUSE AFTER CHANGING 3 SWITCHES, PUTTING NEW LIGHTS IN, HAVING THE WIRING INSPECTED WIRE BY WIRE, (IN SURCH OF A BAD WIRE). THE LOW BEAMS MIGHT COME ON FOR ABOUT 10-15 SECONDS WHEN I FIRST START MY ENGINE, (MIGHT) EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, AND THEN THAT GO OFF AND I'M BACK TO USING THE HIGH BEAMS. I HAD TO ADJUST MY HIGH BEAMS DOWN SO I'M ABLE TO HAVE LIGHTS, WITHOUT BLINDING ON COMING TRAFFIC. THAT MEANS I DON'T HAVE ANY "HIGH BEAMS" WHEN I NEED THEM. MY VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL, YET MY LIGHTS ARE DOING WHAT MANY OTHERS HAVE BEEN DOING. I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR ABOUT 5 YEARS IF NOT LONGER. SINCE THEN MY WIFE HAS BEEN STOPPED 3 MORE TIMES AND ISSUED WARNINGS, EVEN AFTER SHOWING THE OFFICERS THE RECALL LETTER. WE DECIDED TO DO A FOLLOW UP ON THE REPLACEMENT PART AND HERTRIECH HAS STATED THAT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IS NOT GOING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR UP TO A YEAR. THIS AUTOMATIC ACTIVATION CANNOT BE OVERRIDDEN WITH MANUAL CONTROLS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF UNEXPECTEDLY. I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OVER AND MANUALLY TURN THE HEADLIGHTS BACK ON WITHOUT RESOLUTION. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE'S IGNITION AND RESTART THE ENGINE WITHOUT RESOLUTION. NOTHING I COULD DO WOULD MAKE THE HEADLIGHTS TURN BACK ON. THE HEADLIGHTS SEEM TO HAVE A MIND OF THEIR OWN AND WILL EVENTUALLY TURN BACK ON BUT THIS IS COMPLETELY RANDOM, SOMETIMES TAKING A FEW MINUTES OR MAYBE UP TO 20 MINUTES. A CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED THE ISSUE TO BE WITH THE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR REPLACEMENT. I ELECTED TO NOT HAVE THE DEALER REPLACE THE BODY CONTROL MODULE FOR A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF MONEY. I INSTEAD STARTED SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER SOLUTION. I TURNED TO THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT THIS SAME ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE SINCE AT LEAST 2002 CONTINUING UNTIL THE LATE 2000'S. GM INFORMED ME OVER THE PHONE THAT THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. THE CERTIFIED GM SERVICE CENTER CLAIMED THAT THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THIS ISSUE BEFORE. THE SUV WOULD NOT START IN OCTOBER 2012. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY, SO I BOUGHT ONE RIGHT AWAY. I DRIVE THE SUV VERY INFREQUENTLY, MAYBE ONLY 40 MILES A WEEK. ON DECMBER 7, 2012 THE HEADLIGHTS STARTED TO FLICKER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ACROSS THE CHESAPEAKE BAY BRIDGE IN MARYLAND. THIS WAS VERY CONCERNING BECAUSE IT WAS GETTING DARK OUT. WHILE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN ON 9/29/11, I NOTICED WHEN IT GOT DARK THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANY LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE LIGHTS AND FOUND THAT NONE OF MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE WORKING. THE BLINKERS AND FLASHERS WORK, BUT THAT WAS ALL. DURING THE TRIP MANY DRIVERS BECAME VERY AGITATED DUE TO US HAVING TO DRIVE WITH OUR HIGH BEAMS, ONE PERSON BECAME SO ENRAGED THAT THEY TURNED AROUND AND FOLLOWED US WHILE TRYING TO RUN US OFF OF THE ROAD. THEN ON OCTOBER 08, 2010, AT 91,164 MILES WHILE DRIVING HOME ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70MPH IN THE OCCURRENCES IN 2010 LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING, THEN INDEPENDENTLY RE-ILLUMINATED WITHIN SECONDS. THE LATEST OCCURRENCE HAPPENED ON APRIL 16, 2011 AT 10:50PM. I HAD JUST DRIVEN VEHICLE 20 MINUTES EARLIER AND HAD NO PROBLEMS. MY WIFE USED THE VEHICLE AT 10:45PM AND LOWBEAM HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING AT 40-45MPH. SHE STATED IT TOOK REPEATED TRIES WITH HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO GET THE LIGHTS TO RE-ILLUMINATE. WIFE PULLED TURNSIGNAL ARM BACK AND HIGHBEAM LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE THE FLASH TO PASS FEATURE. NO OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS PRESENT. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD AT LOW SPEED. THIS IS A CONDITION THAT COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SEVERAL COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED, BUT THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. THE BLOWER RESISTOR WAS REPLACED DUE TO IT ONLY WORKING ON HIGH. THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED, THE FUEL SENSOR WAS NOT WORKING, THE HEAT WAS INOPERATIVE, THERE WERE NOISE/CREAKS COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL WHEN DRIVING SLOW AND MAKING TURNS, THE POWER WINDOWS AND HEATED SEATS STOPPED WORKING, THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INACCURATE, THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE SWITCH HAD TO REPLACED, THE SEAT BELT WAS DIFFICULT TO FASTEN, THE HEAD LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS SOCKETS BURNED OUT, THE FAN FOR THE HEATER AND DEFROSTER STOPPED WORKING, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT PROPERLY AND EVENTUALLY HAD TO BE REPLACED, THE IGNITION SWITCH DIDN'T ALWAYS WORK AND THE KEY WOULD SOMETIMES GET STUCK. *JB

DEALER DIAGNOSED PROBLEM AS BEING A FAULTY BCM. BCM WAS REPLACED. APPROX. 8 WEEKS LATER, SAME PROBLEM W/LOW BEAM LIGHTS NOT WORKING. DEALER REPLACED RELAY. NOW LOW BEAMS WORK, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND FUEL GAUGE HAS STOPPED WORKING. *TR
