ON MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER LT MY GAS GAUGE SHOWS I HAVE AN EMPTY TANK OF GAS AT ALL TIMES EVEN IMMEDIATELY AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO RUN OUT OF GAS FOUR TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY WITH NO RESTART. IN BOTH OF THIS INSTANCES I HAD TO WALK ON THE HIGHWAY AND OFF AN EXIT TO FILL UP A GAS TANK AND THEN WALK BACK, ONE TIME BEING AT 02:00 AM. THIS IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS CONSIDERING I COULD BE HIT BY A CAR ON THE HIGHWAY OR STALL WHERE A BREAKDOWN LANE IS UNAVAILABLE AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE TANK WILL NEVER READ ANYTHING ELSE THEN EMPTY WITH THE GAS LIGHT ON AS WELL. *JS

FUEL GAUGE GOES BACK AND FORTH FROM EMPTY TO OVER HALF A TANK TO A 1/4 TANK. THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME WE WILL HAVE TO TAKE IT IN FOR THE FUEL SENSOR. IT IS COSTLY AND I FEEL GM SHOULD PAY THE FULL REPAIR BILL OR REPLACE THE VEHICLE. THE TRAILBLAZER HAS ALSO TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON AND NO LIGHTS COME ON. THERE WAS A BURNING SMELL IN THE CAR AND THEN THE HIGH SETTING ON THE AIR FAN SPEED STOPPED WORKING. THEN ABOUT A MONTH LATER THE SECOND TO HIGHEST SPEED STOPPED WORKING ALSO. I OPENED MY GLOVE WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AND THEN THE HIGHEST SETTING STARTED WORKING AGAIN, THEN STOPPED WORKING A FEW MINUTES LATER. I LOOKED IN THE DASH BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX AND FOUND THAT THERE WAS A CONNECTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER WAS HEATING UP AND STARTED MELTING. I CHECKED THE CONNECTION AND INSIDE THE CONNECTOR WAS BURNT AND BLACKENED. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THEY SETUP AN APPOINTMENT AT THE NEAREST CHEVROLET DEALER AND HAD IT CHECKED. THEY FOUND THAT THE FAN MOTOR CONNECTOR WAS BAD AND THAT THE FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER WAS BAD ALSO, THEY CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS AND TOLD THEM IT WASN'T A DEFECT AND IT WAS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD. I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT THE CONNECTOR ALMOST CATCHING FIRE IS NOT A FIRE HAZARD OR A DEFECT. THEY WANTED TO REPLACE THE CONNECTOR AND THE MOTOR CONTROLLER. I DENIED THE SERVICE BECAUSE THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $365.00 TO DO SO. WHEN I FOUND THE PARTS ELSEWHERE FOR $75.00 AND IM GOING TO DO THE REPAIRS MYSELF. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE BURNT CONNECTOR AND FAN MOTOR CONTROLLER. I WILL BE REPAIRING THE ISSUE ONCE THE PARTS ARE DELIVERED. WE HAD CHECKED THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND IT WASN'T RARE, BUT QUITE PREVALENT ON OUR VEHICLE AND SIMILAR ONES, DUE TO DEFECTIVE FUEL SENDING UNITS HAVING CONTACTS CORRODE. WE PUT IN A BOTTLE OF GM FUEL TREATMENT, WITH NO CHANGE. THE EXPENSE TO REPLACE THE COMBINED SENSOR/FUEL PUMP UNIT THAT IS LOCATED IN THE GAS TANK ISN'T WORTH SPENDING AS THE REPLACEMENT PART IS IDENTICAL TO THE ORIGINAL AND THE PROBLEM WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I OWN A 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER WITH ABOUT 87000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY THE FUEL GAUGE HAS BEEN SHOWING EMPTY UPON STARTING WITH THE LOW FUEL LIGHT BEING ON. AS YOU DRIVE SOMETIMES THE GAUGE WILL SHOW THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK AND SOMETIMES IT VARIES AND IS ALL OVER THE PLACE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH FUEL YOU HAVE LEFT. I AM MAKING IT A HABIT TO MONITOR MY MILES SO AS TO NOT RUN OUT OF FUEL. NO ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES HAVE OCCURRED RELATED TO THIS ISSUE, IT IS JUST A NUISANCE AT THIS TIME. ABOUT LAST JANUARY MY GAS GAUGE STARTED ACTING UP. I WOULD FILL MY TANK WITH GAS AND THE GAS GAUGE WOULD READ EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE GAUGE WOULD BOUNCE AROUND AND CAUSE MY LOW FUEL LIGHT TO GO ON AND TURN OFF. THE AUDIBLE ADVISOR WOULD DING AT ME 5 TIMES EVERYTIME IT HIT EMPTY. NOW, TODAY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY AND THE GAS GAUGE IS STUCK AT EMPTY AND THE LOW FUEL LIGHT IS ON CONSTANTLY. I HEREWITH REQUEST THAT NHTSA OPENS AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE PERFORMANCE/RELIABILITY OF THE FUEL LEVEL SENSOR INSTALLED IN MODEL YEAR 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER VEHICLES. IN CASE THE FUEL TANK LEVEL SENSOR IS OR BECOMES DEFECTIVE IT COULD RESULT IN A SUBJECT VEHICLE RUNNING OUT OF FUEL, STALL, AND BEING REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CURRENTLY OWNED CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER 2006 HAS ALREADY THE THIRD FUEL SENSOR. THE FIRST REPLACEMENT TOOK PLACE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD, THE SECOND REPLACEMENT TOOK PLACE IN SPRING 2010. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE CHEVROLET REPAIR SHOP DENIED A MALFUNCTION OF THE INVOLVED FUEL SENSOR. I AM STILL IN POSSESSION OF THE THIRD (OLD) SENSOR. COMPLAINTS TO ADELCO, THE SUPPLIER OF THE FUEL SENSOR DID NOT LEAD TO AN RESULT EITHER. NEVER RECEIVED A SATISFYING ANSWER FROM GM NOR FROM ADELCO. IN THE INTERNET I FOUND MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER TRAILBLAZER OWNERS REGARDING THE FUEL SENSOR. SINCE MY VEHICLE HAS THE FOURTH FUEL SENSOR I DO HAVE PROBLEMS AGAIN (FUEL CAP NOT PROPERLY CLOSED WARNING LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES, ENGINE/EMISSION FAILURE LIGHT COMES ON SOMETIMES). GM CUSTOMER SERVICE IN DETROIT TOLD ME TO GO TOMY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND ASK THEM TO REVIEW THE PROBLEM AND ESTIMATE THE COST. I WAS TOLD THEY WOULD AFTERWARDS MAKE A DECISION TO REIMBURSE ME FOR THE COST. AFTER THE REPAIR SERVICE GM AND THE DEALER DECLINED THE REIMBURSEMENT REQUEST AND CLAIMED THE PART FAILED BECAUSE OF THE HIGH MILEAGE. THE REPLACED SENSOR WAS FOR ONLY 40000 MILES IN THE VEHICLE. FILLED MY VEHICLE UP WITH GAS AND MY GAS GAUGE READS LOW FUEL. POOR EQUIPMENT IS THE CAUSE THIS HAPPENED ON A NEW SUV AND THEY SHOULD FIX THEM. THE COST IS OVER $500.00 DOLLARS I UNDERSTAND THAT MAINTENANCE IS MY RESPONSIBILITY BUT A NEW TRUCK SHOULD NOT HAVE ISSUES SUCH AS THESE. ALSO SOMETIMES THE TRANSMISSION GOES IN NEUTRAL WHEN I'M IN DRIVE AND I LOSE POWER. THE TECH'S CANT FIND WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I HAVE HAD MANY MANY PROBLEMS WITH MY 2006 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER MOST RECENTLY THE TRANSMISSION IS BAD, I HAD STARTED COMPLAINING TO THE DEALER ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AT AROUND 8,000 MILES, THE TRUCK NOW HAS 17,000 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER REFUSES TO REPAIR IT UNDER MY WARRANTY. THE DEALER WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIR. THE DEALER TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. I WAS INFORMED OF THIS ON 5/4/2007. I HAVE HAD MANY MANY REPAIRS DONE ON THIS VEHICLE, SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT. THE DEALER ALSO REFUSES TO FIX THE BRAKES, THE DEALER CLAIMED TO HAVE REPAIRED THEM 3,000 MILES AGO AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THE BRAKES TO BE BAD AGAIN, THE DEALER SAID I NEED ROTORS, PADS, AND THEY DID REPLACE A LT FT CALIPER THAT THEY FOUND TO BE BAD. THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE THE PADS AND ROTORS. THE DEALER HAS TOLD ME TO PICK MY VEHICLE UP. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY NOT IN SAFE CONDITION TO OPERATE ON PUBLIC HIGHWAY, I INFORMED THE DEALER THAT I WILL LEAVE THE TRUCK THERE WHILE I CONTACT NHTSA AND WHOEVER ELSE I FIND THAT WILL HELP ME. IF THE DEALER INSIST THAT I REMOVE MY VEHICLE, I WILL HAVE IT TOWED, I WILL NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE ON PUBLIC HIGHWAYS, AS IT IS NOT SAFE. I WILL NOW LIST SOME OF THE ITEMS MOST RECENTLY REPLACED. ALSO, ABS , CHECK ENGINE, AND SERVICE 4WD LITE WAS ON AND OFF SINCE JANUARY 2007. THE GAS GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS REPLACED TWICE, ALSO REPLACED THE RADIO, FRONT HEATER, REAR HEATER, DVD PLAYER, BOTH UPPER BALL JOINTS, BRAKES, FT WHEEL BEARING, LT FT DOOR CONTROL, FT CALIPERS, SOME KIND OF BEARING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FRONT SUSPENSION STILL MAKES NOISE, RATTLES (THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM) THERE IS MORE BUT THIS IS WHAT I REMEMBER RIGHT NOW WITHOUT LOOKING IT UP. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR SO MANY THINGS TO BE WRONG AND HAS ACCUSED ME OF CHANGING PARTS OVER FROM ANOTHER TRAILBLAZER. *TR
