The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH at nighttime, the low-beam headlights started flickering, and then became inoperable. The vehicle decelerated and veered to the side of the road. The contact engaged the high-beam headlights and continued driving. The contact stated that he replaced the low-beam headlights relay several times. Additionally, the contact replaced the low beam headlights switch, bulb, and fuses; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer and a second dealer, Pohanka Chevrolet (13915 US-50, Chantilly, VA 20151) were notified of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact related the failure to GM Campaign Number: N140291. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 133,000.

Keeps blowing #46 headlight relay. Happens every 2-3 weeks. When this happens the low beams stop working. I have to switch to high beams to continue driving.

The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The manufacturer informed the contact that an unknown recall for the failure had expired. My headlights turn off bybthemselves while driving, other times they wont turn off at all after car is turned off even while in park, and other times they turn on while switched to off position randomly in the middle of te night resulting in a dead battery come morning. My driver window no longer works as well as driver power locks. Happening since 2020 random at first now permentant removal of fuse switch in order to shut off lights and the fuse switch is hot to the touch upon removal.

THE FIRST THING TO GO WRONG WAS THE POWER WINDOWS DON'T WORK PROPERLY IN THE WINTER, NOW THE AIR CONDITIONER ONLY BLOWS COLD AIR INTERMITTENTLY, AND THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM IS THE HEADLIGHTS WON'T WORK AT ALL, I CALLED THE LOCAL SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID THAT THE ELECTRICAL RECALLS WERE VIN SPECIFIC, EVEN THO I HAD THE CORRECT MAKE MODEL AND YEAR MY VIN DID NOT QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL! I'M VERY UPSET THAT THEY CAN BE VIN SPECIFIC BUT I'M HAVING ALL THE ISSUES ON THE RECALLS!! I CAN NO LONGER DRIVE MY VEHICLE IF IT IS RAINING, FOGGY, OR DARK BECAUSE I HAVE NO HEADLIGHTS!!! BEGAN FAILING AGAIN 7/2017. DRM MODULE HAD FAILED. PART ALONE COST $267. PRIOR TO DEALER REPAIR, I HAD TRIED AUTO PARTS STORE MODULES AS WELL, AND EACH 2 BURNED OUT WITHIN 1-2 MONTHS. GM HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM, I THINK NUMBER 14921, ESTABLISHED MAY 2016. IT INCLUDES 2006-2007 TRAILBLAZERS. THEY EXTENDED IT TO 12 YEARS OLD OR 150K MILES, WHICHEVER FIRST. I CONTACTED GM. THEY ME THAT MY VIN DOES NOT COME UP SO THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS. WILL NOT TELL ME WHAT DISQUALIFIES MY VEHICLE, OTHER THAN VIN NOT COMING UP. DID ONLINE CHAT WITH THE REP AND S/HE SAID THAT I HAVE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH YOU, NO INTERNAL COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT, NOBODY I CAN APPEAL TO WITHIN GM FOR HELP. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON 04/2017 AND AGAIN THEY CAME BACK ON THEN RECEIVED THIS NOTICE IN THE MAIL, AND THOUGH THE TIME LIMIT HADN'T PASS THE MILEAGE HAD. IF I HAD RECEIVED THE NOTICE SOONER I WOULD HAVE HAD IT FIXED THEN. I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT THE TIME! I CALLED THE 800 PHONE NUMBER ON THE NOTICE I EXPLAINED THE SITUATION TO THE PERSON ON THE PHONE AND I TOLD HIM THAT HAD GONE OVER 150,000 AT THE I HAD GONE OVER 3,000 MILES, HE TOLD ME THAT MY CAR WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AND HE GAVE ME A CASE # ( 8-3085956921) HE SAID SOMEONE CALL ME WITH IN 24 HOURS. THEY DID CONFIRM MY VEHICLE HAS THE ISSUE BUT CHEVROLET WILL NOT COVER MY VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS OVER THE MILEAGE OF 150,000. REALLY? LATER IN THE AFTERNOON TRIED LIGHTS AND BOTH DAYTIME AND LOW BEAMS WORKED. A FRIEND TOLD ME GM WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH 2006 AND 2007 TRAIL BLAZERS WITH THE LIGHT JUST SHUTTING OFF AND A MODULE WAS BELIEVED TO BE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY GM HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WAS SUPPOSE TO RECALL THE VEHICLES YET THEY DID NOT WARN ANYONE ONE ABOUT THIS ISSUES HOWEVER PEOPLE WITH EARLIER TRAIL BLAZERS HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS ALSO. EVEN IF GM IS TRYING TO DECIDE ON A RECALL FIX THEY AND THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD MANDATE THAT THEY AT LEAST WARN THE VEHICLE OWNERS AND TELL HIM HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS RELAY IS A SINGLE POINT FAILURE, WHICH AN UN-EXPERIENCED DRIVER COULD HAVE HAD A POSSIBLE ACCIDENT IF THE PERSON DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO QUICKLY IN A CALM MANNER.

I CHECKED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND IT WAS IN THE PROPER POSITION. I SWITCHED THE HEADLIGHTS TO HIGH-BEAM AND THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND IT APPEARS THAT A 'HEADLIGHT DRIVER MODULE' IS TO BLAME. THIS MODULE APPEARS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SOURCE OF FAILURE. THIS IS A TERRIBLE DESIGN FLAW. SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS HEADLIGHTS SHOULD NOT BE SUBJECT TO SUCH A POOR QUALITY DEVICE. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE NO DEVICES BETWEEN THE BATTERY AND THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH AND THE LIGHTS.

I ALWAYS HAVE MY LIGHTS SET THAT WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE THEY GO OFF AUTOMATICALLY. TRIED TO TURN OFF THE LIGHTS WITH NO LUCK. I SMELLED ELECTRICAL BURNING COMING FROM THE ENGINE AREA. FOUND THE FUSE BOX IN THE ENGINE BAY AND NOTICED THAT THE HDM MODULE #45 WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO THE AUTO SHOP, NOT ONLY DID THEY FIND THAT THE HDM MODULE #45 WAS MELTED, IT HAD RUINED THE MAIN FUSE CIRCUIT BOARD FROM THE HEAT. LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED DURING THE DAYLIGHT AND NOT AT NIGHT, BECAUSE I WOULDN'T HAVE HAD HEADLIGHTS VERY LONG WITH THIS MODULE BEING MELTED. ALSO THIS COULD HAVE EASILY STARTED A FIRE IN THE ENGINE BAY WITH THE AMOUNT OF HEAT THAT WAS COMING OFF OF THE MELTED HDM MODULE. I THREW ON THE HIGH BEAMS AND SAW THAT I WAS ABOUT TO CRASH INTO THE CENTER DIVIDER. I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE AND GET IT BACK ON THE ROAD WITHOUT AN INCIDENT. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND SPOKE WITH [XXX] EXT [XXX] AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL THAT IS OUT FOR THIS ISSUE DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. I EXPLAINED TO HIM THAT I WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THE OTHER TRAILBLAZERS ARE HAVING AND HE TOLD ME THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS ISSUE MYSELF IF I WANTED IT TO BE FIXED. I NEED GM TO KNOW THAT MY VEHICLE IS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT YOUR AGENCY NOTIFIES THEM OF WHEN A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND AND THAT HE WOULD DO NOTHING TO HELP ME. I HAVE A WIFE AND A SON. THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHTS, DOES NOT COME ON WHEN PRESSURE IS LOW. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, AND STAY ON AWHILE, AND THEN GOES OFF, AND COMES BACK ON. THE CLIMATE CONTROL HEATER SYSTEM BLOWS COLD AIR. AT ONE TIME THE KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION. HAD TO CONTINUE TO GIGGLE THE KEY TO GET IT OUT OF IGNITION. NOTICED MY HEADLIGHTS DID NOT COME ON WHEN I USED THE REMOTE ENTRY TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOOR. THE WINDOWS STALL WHEN GOING UP OR DOWN. I HAVE CONTACTED GM , BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT MY MAKE,MODEL AND YEAR ARE NOT PART OF THE CURRENT RECALL. AND THAT THE LETTER THEY SENT ME, WAS TO PURCHASE WARRANTY FOR THE VEHICLE. I LEFT MY HOUSE FOR WORK AT APPROXIMATELY 0650 HRS ON FEBRUARY 19TH, 2012. UPON EXITING MY NEIGHBORHOOD'S ENTRANCE, I ACCELERATED TO 35 MPH. ABOUT 100 YARDS DOWN THE ROAD, I BEGIN TO SMELL BURNING PLASTIC AND AS I LOOKED DOWN I OBSERVED THICK SMOKE BILLOWING FROM THE OPENINGS OF MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR PANEL. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO EXCEPT STOP THE VEHICLE AND SHUT IT OFF. EVEN WHEN OFF, THE SMOKE CONTINUED TO BILLOW UNTIL I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS LATE TO WORK, SO I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE MY WAY TO WORK IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR, THE DOME LIGHTS WOULD NOT TURN OFF, THE GAS GAUGE WAS INOPERABLE AND THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOWS/LOCKS WERE RENDERED INOPERATIVE. AS I PULLED INTO WORK, I GLANCED OVER AND SAW THE SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE DOOR PANEL AGAIN, BUT IT WAS NOT AS THICK AS THE FIRST TIME. THANKFULLY, MY COWORKERS WERE STANDING BY READY TO ASSIST ME AS IT HAD BEGUN TO RAIN. THIS EVENT COULD HAVE ENDED MUCH WORSE IF THE DOOR PANEL HAD ACTUALLY CAUGHT FIRE. I HAVE A NEWBORN SON WHO IS APPROXIMATELY 5 WEEKS OLD AND THE TRAILBLAZER IS OUR MAIN SOURCE OF TRANSPORT. IT MAKES ME ANGRY TO THINK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF HIM BEING IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AND HAVING AN EVENT SUCH AS THIS OCCUR. HOPEFULLY GM WILL ISSUE A RECALL.
