I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM GM IN 2013 ABOUT A POSSIBLE PROBLEM WITH EARLY WEAR OF THE FUEL SENSOR CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THEY COVERED THE EXPENSE OF REPAIR UP TO 120,000 MILES. WE NOW HAVE 134,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM JUST CAME UP, SO WILL NOT BE COVERED BY GM. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER ONLINE, SO I KNOW THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED BY GM. I CANNOT AFFORD THE REPAIR AT THIS TIME AND BELIEVE GM IS NOT RECALLING THIS FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM AS THEY SHOULD BE DOING. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL SENSOR GAUGE INDICATED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS HALF FULL WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF BECAUSE THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE TIRE AIR SENSOR INDICATED THAT AIR IN THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS LOW BUT AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT AIR IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WAS LOW. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.

THEN ABOUT 3 MONTHS LATER AGAIN THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON AND CAR SHUTS OFF IMMEDIATELY. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT BY GETTING CAR TO SIDE OF ROAD AND USING HAZARD LIGHTS. AFTER THIS INCIDENT WE FILLED THE TANK AND THE LOW FUEL INDICATOR STAYED LIT, THEN WENT OFF, FUEL GAUGE SHOWED FULL, THEN 1/2, THEN 3/4, THEN LOW FUEL LIGHT BACK ON (ALL THIS HAPPENED IN THE 12 MILES TO GET HOME). NOW THE LOW FUEL LIGHT STAYS ON AND THE ONLY WAY TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS TO REFUEL EVERY FEW HUNDRED MILES AND THAT IS WRONG. *TR

THE GAS GAUGE BEGAN TO FLUCTUATE FROM 1/4 TANK TO "EMPTY" FUEL LOW AND THE WARNING CHIME WENT OFF. THERE WAS AT LEAST 5 GALLONS OF GAS IN THE TANK. I CLEAR THE FUEL USED AND TRIP A EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK SO I ALWAYS KNOW ROUGHLY HOW MANY GALLONS ARE IN THE TANK. SO I KNEW WHEN THE FUEL LOW LIGHT CAME ON THIS WAS NOT TRUE. I SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF FOR A MINUTE AND RESTARTED IT AND THE FUEL LOW INDICATOR REMAINED ON BUT OVER THE NEXT 3-5 MINUTES THE GAUGE RETURNED TO THE 1/4 TANK POSITION. THIS ISSUE OCCURRED 3 MORE TIMES BUT HAS NOT OCCURRED LONG ENOUGH FOR ME TO BRING IT TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO SHOW THEM PROOF OF THE FUEL INDICATOR OR GAS GAUGE SENDING UNIT IS FAILING. SINCE THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED WITH OTHER PEOPLE I WANTED TO ADD MY COMPLAINT TO THE LIST AS I FEEL THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE TRAILBLAZER LINE AND IM HOPING FOR A FULL RECALL. I OWNED A GMC JIMMY BEFORE THIS AND THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH THE JIMMY. IM WAITING FOR THE FAILURE TO PRESENT ITSELF AGAIN SO I CAN TAKE IT FOR REPAIR. I HAD GONE TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND ON THE WAY HOME MY POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE POWER STEERING COOLER HAD RUSTED THROUGH. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THIS PART ON MY 2003 TRAILBLAZER NOT REALIZING THERE WAS A PROBLEM. IF THIS PART RUSTS OUT ON DIFFERENT YEARS OF THE SAME MODEL THERE SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT I AND MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION LINES GASOLINE LINES AND POWER STEERING LINES. I HAD TO REPLACE THE GASOLINE LINE AND FUEL PUMP ON THE 2003 , AND JUST REPLACED TRANSMISSION LINE ON THE 2007. I THINK THERE NEEDS TO BE AN ENGINEERING CHANGE ON THESE VEHICLES. I ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ON THE 2007 TRAILBLAZER FOR THE ELECTRIC WINDOW SWITCH. THE NOTICE SAID I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN TO BRING MY VEHICLE IN. IT HAS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE I RECEIVED THE NOTICE AND I AM STILL WAITING FOR NOTIFICATION. IT COST ME $350.00 TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING REPAIRED.. *TR

THE SEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THERE WAS A DEFECT AND A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED. HE WAS INFORMED PART OF THE REPAIR WOULD BE PAID BY GM AND HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMAINING. ON OCCASIONS THE WARNING MESSAGE, "PLEASE TIGHTEN GAS CAP" COMES ON. NOW MONTHS LATER, SAME PROBLEM; AFTER CONTACTING "GM" HOTLINE, THEY STILL HAVE NOT SHOWN ANY CONCERN. I KEEP TRACK OF MILES DRIVEN SINCE LAST FILL-UP AND GAS USED, SO I KNOW WHEN IT IS TIME TO FILL-UP. I HAVE READ MANY SAME COMPLAINTS, AND I WONDER WHY "GM" HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. IT IS NOW 08/21/2012 AND PROBLEM IS STILL ONGOING. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP. PLEASE. THE REMOTE UNLOCK WAS ENGAGED 3 TO 4 MORE TIMES. THE DOOR WAS MANUALLY UNLOCKED FROM PASSENGER'S SIDE. WHEN THE DOOR WAS OPENED, SMOKE WAS POURING OUT OF THE INSIDE. WE POURED AVAILABLE LIQUIDS DOWN THE WINDOW SLOT BUT SMOKE WAS STILL POURING OUT. WHILE MY SPOUSE WENT INSIDE THE BUSINESS WHERE WE WERE PARKED TO GRAB A PITCHER OF WATER, I JERKED THE PLASTIC OVAL PIECE AROUND THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLE OFF AND SAW FLAMES. HE RETURNED WITH THE PITCHER AND WE POURED THE WATER DOWN THE OPEN HOLE AT THE DOOR HANDLE AND FINALLY MANAGED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. WE DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME BUT NONE OF THE DOOR FUNCTIONS WORKED AT ALL. IT IS GOING TO COST ME APPROXIMATELY $600 TO FIX THIS ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN AFRAID TO DRIVE MY TRAILBLAZER SINCE THAT TIME. ALSO THE FUEL GAUGE QUIT WORKING ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. WE FINALLY FIXED THAT ISSUE TODAY. I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE BASED ON THE TRIP ODOMETER AND I HAVE RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE SINCE THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE WAY TO ESTIMATE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. AS IT WAS NOT UNDER A MANUFACTURER WARRANTY, CHEVY HAS NOW AGREED TO PAY 50% OF THE COST OF REPAIR DUE TO PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION. HOWEVER, THE SCOPE OF THE PROBLEM IS PROBABLY GREATER THAN HAS BEEN REPORTED AS A COWORKER ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2005 GMC ENVOY. HE HAS SINCE REPLACED THE VEHICLE DUE TO ADDITIONAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MY FATHER-IN-LAW HAS ALSO REPLACED HIS 2007 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER THAT ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND COST $800 TO REPAIR. I HAD STARTED MY TRUCK TO LET IT WARM UP, AFTER COMING BACK OUT I NOTICED THE GAS GAUGE WAS INCORRECT, I TURNED OFF THE TRUCK AND STARTED IT AGAIN AND WATCHED THE GAUGE GO FROM 3/4 OF A TANK TO 1/2. I TOOK IT TO SEE IF THE BATTERY OR ALTERNATOR WAS BAD, THE BATTERY TESTED BAD, SO I REPLACED IT. THE TRUCK WAS WORKING FINE, UNTIL 2/26/12, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES I NOTICED THE GAUGE HAD GONE FROM 3/4 TO 1/2. WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT I WATCHED IT THEN GO FROM 1/2 TO 1/4 OF A TANK. I DROVE TO GET GAS AND IT ONLY TOOK $21.00 TO FILL IT. AFTER READING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS PROBLEM, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THIS PRODUCT, AND WHY THE MANUFACTURER IS ONLY WILLING TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR. I PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR THIS PRODUCT AND DO NOT FEEL THAT THE COMPANY IS LOOKING OUT FOR US. #1-THE FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING ON THIS VEHICLE WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I WENT ONLINE TO SEE IF I COULD GET AN ANSWER FOR WHY IT WOULD JUST SUDDENLY QUIT WORKING. IT WAS THERE THAT I FOUND HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I CALLED CHEVROLET ABOUT IT, THEY SAID THEY COULD FIX IT FOR $500. I ENDED UP HAVING JUST THE FUEL SENDING UNIT REPLACED ABOUT 5 MONTHS AGO AND AM NOW EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. CHEVROLET IS FULLY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, AS THEY SENT ME A PAPER SAYING THAT IF I GOT IT REPAIRED AT A CHEVY GARAGE THEY WOULD REIMBURSE 50% OF THE COSTS. TO ME HAVING BEEN AN ISSUE FOR MANY YEARS CHEVY SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED NOT ME! #2- DURING ROUTINE DRIVING WE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND IT FAILED TO OPERATE PROPERLY. I TRIED IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AND HAD NO LUCK. WHEN I REACHED MY DESTINATION I LOOKED TO SEE IF MAYBE A WIRE WAS CUT IN THE DOOR HINGE AREA, WHICH IT WASN'T, AND PUT MY FINGER ON THE SWITCH AND NOTICED IT WAS EXTREMELY WARM. I SHUT THE CAR OFF, LEFT THE DOOR OPENED AND ALLOWED IT TO COOL DOWN. IT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND STILL GETS VERY WARM WHEN IT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY. *TR

NOW THE FUEL GAUGE INDICATES EMPTY AT ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS FULL,ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON. THESE FAULTS ARE VERY DISCONCERTING AS WELL AS BEING DANGEROUS. WHAT IF A LEGITIMATE ENGINE PROBLEM DEVELOPS? WHAT IF WE MIS-CALCULATE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL THAT IS IN THE TANK AND WE ARE ON SOME HIGHWAY IN RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC OR SOMEWHERE LATE AT NIGHT? THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SENSOR IN MY '07 TRAILBLAZER, I HAD ABOUT 1/3 OF A TANK OF GAS WHEN I PARKED AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF TO GO INTO A STORE. WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN, THE FUEL GAUGE WENT TO EMPTY AND THE LOW-FUEL LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO FILL THE TANK AND ONLY NEEDED ABOUT 11 GALLONS, WHICH IS WHEN I CONFIRMED THE GAUGE WAS WRONG. THE GAUGE CONTINUED TO SHOW EMPTY AND HAS EVER SINCE. I AM NOW DOING MY BEST TO KEEP TRACK OF FUEL BY ESTIMATING USAGE BASED ON THE MILES DRIVEN AFTER EACH FILL-UP. I'VE BEEN READING UP ON THE RECALL AND I'M OUTRAGED THAT GM IS STILL ONLY OFFERING TO PAY FOR HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS IF DONE AT A DEALER, WHICH, BY THE WAY IS WHY I HAVEN'T HAD THIS REPAIR DONE YET. I'VE READ IN SOME CASES THERE HAVE BEEN ESTIMATED COSTS BETWEEN $700 AND $1200. SO IF GM IS ONLY GOING TO PAY HALF OF THE COST, I'M LOOKING AT POTENTIALLY $600 OR SO TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT GM HAS ADMITTED IS A PROBLEM. FUEL GAUGE IN 2007 CHEVY TRAILBLAZER BEGAN FLUCTUATING FROM PROPER FUEL LEVEL READING TO EMPTY AT AROUND 50,000 MILES. AFTER ABOUT 2 WEEKS OF THIS, FUEL GAUGE FAILED ALTOGETHER AND NOW CONSISTENTLY READS EMPTY REGARDLESS OF FUEL LEVEL IN TANK, WHICH INDICATES A FAILURE OF THE FUEL SENSING UNIT. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM STATING 1/2 OF REPAIR COSTS WOULD BE COVERED BY MANUFACTURER, HOWEVER DUE TO THE FACT THIS PROBLEM APPEARS SO COMMON AND WIDESPREAD, IT IS APPARENT THE NHTSA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. WE ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BASED ON THE TRIP ODOMETER AND MY HUSBAND HAS RUN OUT OF GAS TWICE AS THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE WAY TO ESTIMATE THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE TANK. THEY ALSO STATED THAT I WILL ONLY GET THE 1/2 OFF AS LONG AS I BRING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. GM SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A 100% TOTAL RECALL ON THIS COMPONENT SINCE ITS SO WIDESPREAD. I NEVER KNOW HOW MUCH GAS IS IN MY TRUCK AND I AM PARANOID AND CONSTANTLY GOING TO THE STORE TO ADD MORE GAS. I AM UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE MAJORITY OF CHEVY VEHICLES AND GM ACTUALLY KNOWS THAT THE PROBLEM EXIST AND HAS DONE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO HELP THE MILLIONS OF LOYAL CUSTOMERS THAT PURCHASED THESE CARS. THERE IS NO REASON THAT THIS ALL SHOULD BE HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW; SO I AM THE ORIGINAL AND ONLY OWNER. THEY CHARGED ME $95.00 DOLLARS AND SAID THAT IT WAS A DIRTY THROTTLE PLATE. A NOTE ON MY RECEIPT SAID THAT A FAULTY GAS GAUGE COULD CAUSE THE LIGHT TO COME ON. THE GAGE FLUCTUATED BETWEEN FULL TO EMPTY FOR AWHILE, BUT NOW IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I HAVE TO USE MY TRIP ODOMETER SET TO 300 MILES TO ESTIMATE WHEN I HAVE TO FILL UP WITH GAS AGAIN. NOW THE IGNITION SWITCH HAS SOMETHING WRONG, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL NOT LOCK WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND THE KEY IS REMOVED. THEN THE CAR WON'T START UNLESS YOU WORK THE KEY AND THE SWITCH. MY 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER'S FUEL GAUGE IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN RECEIVING ALL PREVENTIVE AND SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND HAS APPROXIMATELY 64,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM STARTED APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO (FIRST WEEK OF FEBRUARY 2011) AND HAS PROGRESSED TO THE POINT WHERE IT HAS COMPLETELY FAILED. THE GAUGE WILL INDICATE PROPER LEVEL WHEN KEY IS TURNED ON BUT WILL DROP TO ZERO WITH LOW LEVEL LIGHT STAYING ON ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE VEHICLE IS STARTED EVEN IF THE FUEL TANK IS FULL. THIS MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT FOR ME TO CONTINUE TO ALLOW MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER TO USE THIS VEHICLE AS HER PRIMARY TRANSPORTATION TO SCHOOL AND WORK. 2007 TRAILBLAZER FUEL SENSOR PROBLEM. CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL LEVEL SENSORS, FUEL FROM ANY VENDOR CAUSES THE FUEL SENSOR TO GUM UP WITH SULFUR AND OTHER CHEMICALS MAKING IT STICK AND READ EMPTY MOST OF THE TIME. IT ALSO SENDS A CODE TO THE MONITORING SYSTEM (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT). THIS LIGHT WILL NOT ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO PASS INSPECTION AT ANY TIME.
