This vehicle is dangerous. Looks great on the outside but horrible on the inside under the hood! Since my son bought one for me it’s had problems with engine revving and not shifting gears, and air conditioner continually going out even after repairs, and power steering leaks. I kept taking it to repair and oddly no technician anywhere could help! Read the reviews and watch the youtubes! This vehicle (all years) should be stripped from the market and considered under lemon law no matter the age! The culmination of my problems happened when leaving town, entering highway and accelerating and clicking cruise control! Immediately the car revved past 7 rpms and out of control! I had all I could do to stop it - then it died completely! The tow truck driver was also in an unsafe situation with many cars passing at high speed when he had to put special lifts on the back wheels! Scary! Towed to local Chevy dealer and without giving us the computer codes and no actual written estimate for repairs, they bluntly said metal shavings in engine and possibly a bearing and $11,500. And it’s typical for transmission problems and steering so up to $18,500! Really?! And if no one could ever detect and fix it before, how can they now? All this with the added comment, we can’t guarantee once we get into it that it will run properly and not need more repairs! LEMON! This is a very unsafe vehicle with notorious problems all in the face of competing with looks of other competitor cars! I praise God I was alone when this happened and no other passengers. If you love your life, family, and others, definitely join me in this recall / removal from market effort. Don’t take my opinion, read the huge number of complaints by many other owners and past owners of any and every chevy traverse! Horrifying! Thank you for reading and acting! God Bless you!

PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PUT VEHICLE INTO PARK AND TURNED VEHICLE OFF REMOVED KEY AND WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BREAK THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. AFTER GETTING TO FLAT GROUND WHERE IT WOULD NOT ROLL I TRIED TO RESTART IT AND IT WOULD NOT START. I COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER AT ALL EITHER. HAD A MECHANIC FRIEND LOOK AT IT AND HE MANUALLY PULLED THE LINKAGE FORWARD TO CLICK IT INTO PARK SO I COULD RESTART IT AND MOVE THE VEHICLE. EVERYTIME I STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK NOW IT HAS TO BE PULLED INTO PARK MANUALLY FROM UNDER THE HOOD. HAVE NOT HEARD YET WHAT THE PROBLEM ACTUALLY IS. HEARD 2009 VEHICLES HAD SAME ISSUE AND RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR IT. THIS IS DEFINATELY NOT A GOOD SITUATION. POTENTIALLY COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DANGEROUS.

TRACTION CONTROL/STABILINK SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. VEHICLE WILL LOSE POWER WHILE ACCELERATING. THERE IS A GRINDING NOISE WHICH SLOWES THE VEHICLE DOWN. THIS HAPPENS EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR ONTO HIGHWAYS WHERE OTHERS ARE TRAVELING AT FAST RATE OF SPEED. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB WHEN RESEARCHING 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE FOR PROBLEMS. THE VIN NUMBER OF MY VEHICLE IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL BUT SYMPTOMS ARE THE SAME AS VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED.

TCM, CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND NEUTRAL SWITCH HAD BEEN REPLACED AND NO CHANGE. HAPPENS AT VARIOUS SPEEDS - 75, 55,40,8MPH AND STOPPED. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 30 TIMES IN THE 34 DAYS THAT WE HAVE OWNED IT. IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOUR TIMES.

I HAVE HAD THE POWER TRAIN REPAIRED TWICE, ONCE WHILE UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEN AT COST. I HAVE PAID MORE THAN $2K ON THE REPAIR AND YET THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON AND A CHECK OF THE ERROR CODES REVEALS THE SAME PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAS FAILED EMISSIONS TESTING AS A RESULT OF THE PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THERE'S DEFINITELY A DEFECT WITHIN THIS MODEL YEAR'S ENGINE SYSTEM INVOLVING THE POWER TRAIN. I AM REQUESTING AN INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL. I CAN'T PUT OUT MORE MONEY TO FIX A MAINTENANCE PROBLEM THAT WILL NEVER BE FIXED. THE CAR SHAKES AS IF IT'S IDLE WHEN DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS OFF AND ON PROFUSELY. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT FEARING SOMETHING TERRIBLE WILL HAPPEN. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO WALDORF CHEVROLET. THEY ARE NOT COOPERATIVE WITH PROVIDING SERVICE DETAILS, ONE BECAUSE THEY CLAIM TO HAVE A NEW SYSTEM. AND THEY ARE NOT HELPFUL WITH UNDERSTANDING WHY THE POWER TRAIN CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE AFTER THEY "REPAIRED" IT. I DO HAVE A COPY OF THE REPAIR DOCUMENTS IT NEEDED. ALSO, ONE SET OF SEAT BELTS IN THE SECOND ROW HAVE FALLEN APART ON ITS OWN (MEANING THERE WERE BEING USED AS DESIGNED AND THE FASTENER JUST CRUMBLED)

DEALER SAYS TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM OVER THE 5 YEAR, 100,000 MILE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, SO THEY TELL ME IT WON'T BE COVERED AND IT WILL ALL BY AT MY OWN EXPENSE. THIS IS AN ENGINEERING FLAW, AND WE THE CONSUMERS ARE EXPECTED TO FOOT THE BILL. IT'S NOT FAIR, AND NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR TIMING CHAIN WARRANTY FROM TO THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH THE EXTENDED SERVICE 11340-C. OR DO A COMPLETE RECALL!!! MOST OF THIS UNDER WARRANITY OR NOT COVERED STILL AT ALL IN FIRST 4 YEARS OF OWNING THIS CAR. ITS LITERALLY A PILE OF JUNK. SO MANY SAFETY ISSUES THAT GM WONT LIST AS A RECALL. PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED BUT STILL FAIL DO ANYTHING. POWER STEERING AND TIMING CHAIN FAILED IN VEHICLE AT 74K MILES. THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME ISSUES FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE WHICH HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED. WHILE IN MOTION ON NOVEMBER 4, 2017, OUR VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER EVENTUALLY SHUTTING OFF. UPON TRYING TO RESTART THE VEHICLE WE HEARD A GRINDING SOUND. WE IMMEDIATELY PUSHED THE VEHICLE TO A NEAR BY REPUTABLE REPAIR SHOP. UPON THEIR EVALUATION IT WAS DETERMINED THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS TO INFORM THEM OF THE ISSUE, THEY RESPONDED BY HAVING US TO TOW OUR VEHICLE TO DON BROWN CHEVROLET IN SAINT LOUIS MISSOURI. GENERAL MOTORS ASKED US TO AUTHORIZE DON BROWN TO "BREAK DOWN" THE VEHICLE IN WHICH WE AGREED. WE WERE THEN INFORMED BECAUSE OF A COST ANALYSIS BEING PERFORMED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND DON BROWN, A BREAK DOWN OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT NECESSARY AND NOTHING WOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO REPAIR THE POWER STEERING OR TIMING CHAIN. IT IS WIDELY REPORTED OLD TIMING CHAINS WERE INSTALLED IN 2009-2011 CHEVY TRAVERSE WHICH HAS LED TO SEVERAL ENGINE FAILURES AND INOPERABLE VEHICLES OF CONSUMERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR GENERAL MOTORS TO HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES WITH TIMING CHAINS THAT STRETCH AND CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. GENERAL MOTORS HAS PLACED A HARDSHIP ON FAMILIES WHEN THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE VERY EXPENSIVE COST OF THESE REPAIRS. WE PURCHASED OUR VEHICLE LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO FROM A CHEVY DEALER AND TO HAVE IT TO BECOME IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND SHUT OFF IN TRAFFIC IS VERY DANGEROUS AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT OFFERED ANY RELIEF WITH AN ISSUE KNOWN TO THEM.BEING OUT OF WARRANTY AND NOT PURCHASING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY SHOULD EXCLUDE DEFECTS AS IN THE ONES STATED IN THIS COMPLAINT.

OUR VEHICLE, WHICH IS LABELED AS AN EARLY 2010 MODEL YEAR VEHICLE (BUILT IN OCTOBER 2009) WAS BUILT IN THE SAME FACTORY (SPRING HILL, TN) AND WITH THE SAME COMPONENTS (3.6L V6 ENGINE) AS THE VEHICLES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE BULLETINS BUT WE DID NOT RECEIVE THE EXTENDED COVERAGE. OUR VEHICLE SHOULD BE COVERED IN THE SPECIAL PROGRAM.

SOON AFTER PURCHASING MY 2010 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE IN JANUARY OF 2017, I BROUGHT IT TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST TO HAVE IT SERVICED. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS ABOUT TO FAIL AND IT NEEDED MAJOR WORK. I CONTACTED A LOCAL GM DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS AND TO SEE IF I SHOULD HAVE IT SERVICED BY GM STAFF. THEY SAID THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND I SHOULD HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST, BUFFOMATIC TRANSMISSION SERVICE, DO THE WORK. I DID SO AND BUFFOMATIC FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAVE PLATE HAD FAILED CAUSING OTHER COMPONENTS TO ALSO FAIL COSTING ME $4860.00. I DID SOME RESEARCH, WHICH WAS CONFIRMED BY BUFFOMATIC, THAT THIS WAVE PLATE PROBLEM IS COMMON IN GM TRANSMISSIONS AND A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED ON OTHER GM MODELS BUT NOT THE TRAVERSE. I SENT REQUESTS TO BOTH THE DEALER AND GM DIRECTLY THAT THIS RECALL BE EXTENDED TO MY TRAVERSE. BOTH DENIED MY REQUEST. I AM THEREFORE APPEALING TO NHTSA THAT GM BE REQUIRED TO HONOR THE WAVE PLATE RECALL AND REFUND ME THE $4860.00 I PAID FOR THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRS. THANK YOU.

THIS PROBLEM WAS COVERED BY SPECIAL POLICY #11340B ' SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT ' TIMING CHAIN WEAR " IN 2009 CHEVY TRAVERSE MODELS. MY VEHICLE HAS HAD EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE AND CARE, USUALLY BY THE DEALER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE AT ONLY 78,000 MILES.

SEVERAL MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES CONTINUE TO APPEAR ON THE DRIVER CONSOLE UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS. THEY WARN "SERVICE STABILITRAK" ; "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" ; AND, "ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED" THESE MALFUNCTION ALERT ARE ACCOMPANIED BY A SEVERE DECELERATION OF THE VEHICLE AND NO RESPONSE OR VERY MODEST RESPONSE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED. THIS ISSUE HAS PRESENTED ITSELF FOUR (4) SEPARATE TIMES IN 2016 AND 2017 WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN ON HIGHWAYS (3 TIMES AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH) AND ALWAYS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE HAS BEEN NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING (32 DEGREES). GM HAS NOTIFIED ME OF THIS ISSUE IMPACTING CARS OF THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE ON BOARD COMPUTER (OBC) CLEARS AFTER THE 3RD RESTART (ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP) AND PROOF OF THE ERROR VIA THE OBC IS WIPED OUT (ONLY LEAVING ME WITH VIDEO AND PICTURES, WHICH GMC WILL NOT HONOR IN ITS REPAIR PROTOCOL). AS STATED, THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE IS BEING EXPERIENCED AT HIGH SPEEDS ON BUSY HIGHWAYS AND THE CAR WILL QUICKLY THROTTLE DOWN TO SPEEDS OF 30-40 MPH -- WHICH IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION IN A HIGHWAY ENVIRONMENT (LIKE THE 495 BELTWAY IN WASHINGTON, DC). I TRULY FEAR FOR MY SAFETY IN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND GMC IS COMPLACENT IN HAVING ME PROVE THROUGH THE OBC THAT THIS IS HAPPENING, AND THEN HAVING A DEALERSHIP RECREATE THE ISSUE. THERE A HUNDREDS OF REFERENCES TO THIS ISSUE AS I SEARCHED THE INTERNET FOR ANSWERS LONG BEFORE GMC REACHED OUT TO ME. GMC IS PLAYING GAMES WITH CONSUMERS AND ADVISING THAT THIS ISSUE DOWS NOT POSE TO SAFETY HAZARD. MY EXPERIENCES IN THIS VEHICLE ARE PROOF THAT THEIR CLAIMS ARE FALSE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON. WHEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THAT THE CODE WAS INDICATING THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 80,000 MILES AND HAS HAD EXCELLENT MAINTENANCE. THIS PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED WITH 2009 TRAVERSES AND GM EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THOSE MODELS TO 120,000MILES/10 YEARS AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR. WHEN CALLING GM ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM IN THE 2010, WE WERE TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. THE DEALER TOLD US IT WOULD COST US 3,200 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED ON VARIOUS SITES BY THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE. WE WERE TOLD IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED IT COULD CAUSE EXTREME ENGINE DAMAGE WHEN IT BREAKS. GM SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS DEFECT BEFORE SOMEONE HAS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AS A RESULT.

OUR 2010 TRAVERSE HAS JUST OVER 91,000 MILES ON IT. WE TOOK OUR VEHICLE TO A LOCAL GM DEALER TO HAVE A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER CAME BACK AND INFORMED ME WE NEEDED TO HAVE OUR TIMING BELTS REPLACED AND WOULD COST AT LEAST $3000 TO REPAIR. THE MORE I DUG INTO THIS DIAGNOSIS, I'VE COME ACROSS NUMEROUS POSTS FROM OTHER '09-'10 OWNERS WITH THE SAME ISSUE. SOME HAD EXPERIENCED SUDDEN LOSS IN POWER WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND OTHERS HADN'T EVEN HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. THERE WERE SOME OWNERS THAT HAD TO HAVE THESE ITEMS REPLACED AT AROUND 60,000MI. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO GM AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO TO HELP ALLEVIATE THIS COST, NOR ARE THEY IN A POSITION TO ISSUE A RECALL. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME THAT WE MISSED THE 'WARRANTY PERIOD' BY A YEAR AND A HALF AND THAT THERE ARE NO 'SPECIAL BULLETINS' RELATED TO MY VEHICLE. I ASKED IF THEY HAD AN INCREASE IN OTHER CALLS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE AND THEY DENIED ANY KNOWING OF THIS. MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE SEEING SUCH AN INCREASE IN THIS ISSUE THAT THEY KEEP AN INVENTORY OF PARTS ON HAND AND THEY PERFORM AT LEAST 3 TIMING CHAIN REPAIRS A WEEK. I'M FORTUNATE THAT OUR DEALERSHIP IS WORKING WITH US ON DOING WHAT THEY CAN TO ALLEVIATE SOME OF THE COST, BUT GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ON THEIR END TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM OR WILLING TO HELP OUT.

I AM WRITING BECAUSE I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE A LITTLE OVER 1 YEAR AND PUT LESS THAN 18,000 MILES ON IT AND YET IT IS CONSTANTLY IN THE SHOP FOR COSTLY REPAIRS. I AM CURRENTLY WONDERING WHERE DRIVETIME SOURCES THESE VEHICLES FROM BECAUSE A USED CAR SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE IN THE SHOP AS MUCH AS MY CAR IS ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVETIME'S CHOSED EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY AEVEREX ONLY WANTS TO PAY FOR REPAIRS THAT THEY DEEM FAIR TO PAY FOR WHICH IS A DISADVANTAGE FOR A BUYER SUCH AS MYSELF. I HAVE CONSISTENTLY PAID MY NOTE ON TIME AND GOT THE RUN AROUND FOR 2 WEEKS ON THE LAST REPAIRS THAT AEVEREX TOOK THEIR TIME ADDRESSING. I DON'T MIND MAKING MINOR REPAIRS LIKE TIRES OR MAYBE A HOLE IN THE MUFFLER BUT TO HAVE TO REPLACE A TIMING CHAIN WITHIN A WEEK OF THE PURCHASE AND AN ENGINE FLYWHEEL AND STARTER IN BARELY A YEAR OF THE PURCHASE MAKES IT SEEM AS IF THESE CARS WERE BROKEN DOWN BEFORE BEING SOLD TO UNSUSPECTING CUSTOMERS SUCH AS MYSELF BY DRIVETIME AND THEIR REFUSAL TO ASSIST TO THE CUSTOMERS IN THEIR TIME OF NEED MAKES IT SEEM AS IF THEY WERE INTENTIONAL ON GETTING THESE DAMAGED GOODS OFF OF THEIR HANDS. I AM FILING THIS FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION BECAUSE THIS IS AN IMPORTANT ISSUE AS MY CAR HAS STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF ONCOMING HIGHWAY TRAFFIC AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS VEHICLE IS A TRUE LEMON AND I ONLY WISHED THAT I HAD DONE MORE RESEARCH ON DRIVETIME BEFORE PURCHASING FROM THEM. JUNE 2016, APPROX. 114,000 MI - FELT A LURCH IN STOP & GO TRAFFIC; FLASHED "SERVICE STABILITRAK," "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL," "BACKUP ALERTS = OFF". THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. A FEW MILES DOWN THE ROAD WHEN TRAFFIC SPED UP, I REALIZED I ONLY HAD ONE GEAR AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 60MPH. A SERIOUS PROBLEM ON THE INTERSTATE! SEVERAL HOURS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, BUT THE CAR DROVE NORMALLY -- STRAIGHT TO THE REPAIR SHOP, WHERE IT WAS DEEMED TO NEED $2400 IN TRANSMISSION REPAIR DUE TO THE FOLLOWING FAULT CODES: P182E & C0561. THEY WILL REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION MODE SHIFT SENSOR AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. THE MECHANIC ALSO INFORMED US THAT WE WILL EVENTUALLY NEED A $700 REPAIR FOR THE CONTROL ARMS IN THE REAR SUSPENSION -- GE HAS CORRECTED A KNOWN FAULT IN THE PARTS. ALL THIS IS ON TOP OF A $3000 REPAIR DONE IN APRIL 2015 AT 92,500 MI. FOR KNOWN STEERING DEFECTS. IN THAT CASE, AS THE TRAVERSE WARMED UP, THE POWER STEERING GOT HARD TO TURN. GM REPAIRED PART OF THE PROBLEM AT NO COST, REPLACING POWER STEERING PUMP AND GEAR HOUSING. ANOTHER MECHANIC COMPLETED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY THAT WAS ALSO PART OF THE PROBLEM. THESE ARE BOTH SUBSTANTIAL DEFECTS AND REPAIRS NEEDED IN A VEHICLE THAT WAS EXPECTED TO LAST MUCH LONGER BEFORE NEEDING MORE THAN ROUTINE MAINTENANCE.

THE TIMING CHAIN HAS STRETCHED AND THE DEALER SAYS IT WILL TAKE 19 HOURS TO CHANGE IT. AUTO MFG WENT TO TIMING CHAINS FROM RUBBER BELTS, SO THEY DON'T HAVE TO CHANGE IT. THE WARRANTY IS FOR 5 YRS OR 100,000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND THE WARRANTY FOR THIS EXPENSIVE JOB SHOULD BE EXTENDED. ONCE THE CHAIN BRAKES, THE CAR IS DONE. THE CAR MAKES NOISE AND DOESN'T ACCELERATE PROPERLY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. FIRST NOTICED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON ABOUT 6 MONTHS OR SO AGO. IT WASN'T UNTIL WE BROKE DOWN IN CANADA THAT THE DEALER THERE SAID IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN WHEN THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY.

I GOT A CARD IN MAIL FROM CHEVY STATING IF I WAS HAVING THROTTLE ISSUES TO TAKE IT AND A DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX IT. WE HAD THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON A WEEK OR LESS THAN THAT BEFORE WE GOT THE CARD. THE CAR WAS HAVING ISSUES GONG OR BEING SLUGGISH. WE TAKE IT IN AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT BUT WITHIN A DAY WE HAD THE ENGINE COME ON AND IT CONTINUED THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY TRIED TO BLAME THE THROTTLE BODY BUT NOW SAY ITS THE TIMEING CHAINS AND IT WILL BE 1600+ JUST FOR LABOR. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM WE HAD BEFORE AND NOW THEY SAY WE ARE OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN WE WERE THERE FOR THE FIRST TIME IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE IN WARRANTY UNTIL 98000 AND WE HAVE 96000 ON IT.

MY TRAVERSE JUST PULLED A P0008 AND P0017 ENGINE CODE. AFTER BRINGING IT TO THE MECHANIC, I HAD AN OIL FLUSH AND INDUCTION SYSTEM CLEANING. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE P0008 CODE WHEN OFF AGAIN. THIS IS SPECIFIC FOR THE TIMING CHAIN AND CYLINDER HEADS. APPARENTLY THERE WAS A RECALL AND WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 08-09 CHEVY TRAVERSES HOWEVER THAT HAS NOT TRANSFERRED OVER TO MY PARTICULAR MODEL YEAR. MY VEHICLE IS 1 YEAR OUT OF WARRANTY WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES ON IT. MY REPAIRS ARE TO BE AN ESTIMATED $4,000 - $6,300 BUT AM BEING OFFERED A 50/50 SPLIT THAT I FEEL IS STILL UNACCEPTABLE ON A VEHICLE WITH ONLY 63,000 MILES.

ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH; VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISH. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP, BURLINGTON CHEVROLET, RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THERE WERE SOME FAILED CODES (P0011 AND P008), ALL RELATED TO THE CAMSHAFT AND TIMING CHAINS. TO REPAIR, IT WOULD COST ABOUT $2,700 SINCE I WAS SIX MONTHS OVER THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. THEY CONTACTED GM AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST ME $681 PLUS TAX. I AGREED TO HAVE THE REPAIRS COMPLETED WHICH ALSO INCLUDED REPLACING THE WATERPUMP WHICH WAS LEAKING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT TIMING CHAIN PROBLEMS ON HAVE OCCURRED MORE FREQUENTLY ON 2007-2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE, SATURN OUTLOOK, GMC ACADIA, AND BUICK ENCLAVE. ALL OF THESE SUV'S HAVE THE 3.6 LITER V6 ENGINE WITH DUAL OVERHEAD CAMS. WHAT IS HAPPENING ON THESE VEHICLES IS THAT THE TIMING CHAINS ARE STRETCHING WHICH LEADS TO CORRELATION ERRORS WITH THE CAM SENSORS AND ACTUATORS. AFTER 2010, GENERAL MOTORS HAS SEEMED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM WITH UPDATED CHAINS AND ECM CALIBRATIONS.

WITH SOME RESEARCH I FOUND NHTSA REFERENCE- 10043857 AND TSB REFERENCE- SB-11340 FOR THIS ISSUE. GM STATES THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH 2006 TO 2009 MODELS. I FEEL THOUGH THAT THE PROBLEM HAS NOT GONE AWAY WITH THE 2010 MODEL AS THE CUSTOMER SERVICE LADY AT GM SEEMS TO INDICATE. I ALSO HAVE HEARD THAT GM HAS EXTENDED THE COVERAGE TO 10 YEARS / 120K MILES FOR THIS ISSUE. IM GETTING NOWHERE WITH GM SO FAR!

GM HAS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT (#11340A) THAT IS HAVING THEIR DEALERSHIPS CHANGING OUT THE DEFECTIVE TIMING CHAINS UP TO THE MODEL YEAR 2009. MY VEHICLE IS REGISTERED AS A 2010 BUT HAS A BUILD DATE OF 11/09 AND I BELIEVE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS SPECIAL COVERAGE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY BOTH GM AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BE OF NO ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER. THE REPAIR WILL COST AROUND $4500.00.

BROUGHT THE 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE TO DEALER FOR A LEAKING WATER PUMP THAT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY IN NOVEMBER. VEHICHLE WAS IN REDUCED POWER MODE ONCE IT WAS STARTED UP AFTER WORK WAS COMPLETED ON WATER PUMP. AT THAT TIME I WAS INFORMED THE TIMING CHAIN WAS STRETCHED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE GM DEALER QUOTED ME $1834 TO REPLACE. UNACCEPTABLE AT THIS MILEAGE FOR A TIMING CHAIN TO BE STRETCHED THAT MUCH. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICHLES FOR THIS AND MANY OTHER ITEMS AND FIX THEIR JUNK THAT THEY TURN OUT FOR TOP DOLLAR. THAT ISN'T AN EASY TAB TO PICK UP FOR MOST OF US.

FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING. I CHECKED THE COOLANT LEVELS AND SAW THEY WERE LOW, TOPPED THEM OFF AND PAID IT NO MIND. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE CAR STARTED REDUCING POWER WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESS WAY WITH NO WARNING OR INDICATOR LIGHTS. TO REMEDY THIS I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR AND FOR A DAY OR TWO IT WOULD BE FINE. STRANGELY THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND I HAD NO PROBLEM FOR WEEKS. I WENT TO GET A OIL CHANGE AT A NON DEALERSHIP SHOP AND AFTER THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE AUTO SUPPLY TO GET THE CODE READ AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE CODE P0008, THE CLERK LOOKED IT UP TO FIND IT IS A COMMON TIMING CHAIN PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME IT WAS A SAVED CODE AND THAT THIS IS A REPEAT ISSUE. I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM OCCUR AND REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY IN APRIL 2012. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE CHARGED $67 TO TELL ME THE DREADFUL NEWS AND BECAUSE I WAS OUT OF WARRANTY THE REPAIR WOULD BE OUT OF POCKET. LONGER STORY SHORT AS I WORKED FEVERISHLY WITH GM CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE TO GET COST ASSISTANCE THE PROBLEM BECAME WORSE. WHEN I FINALLY GET A 50/50 SPLIT THE CAR BEGAN OVER HEATING MORE QUICKLY TO THE POINT I COULD NOT DRIVE IT. WHEN I TOOK THE CARE TO BE REPAIRED COOLANT WAS LEAKING AND THE WATER PUMPED NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN MAY 2013 I HAD MY COOLANT TOPPED OFF FOR WHAT THE DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTED AS RECALL 13079 WATER PUMP SHAFTER SEAL LEAKS. I FOUND OUT THAT THE WATER PUMP LEAK CAN DAMAGE THE TIMING CHAIN. I THINK CHEVROLET AND GM SHOULD COVER THIS COST WHEN THEY KNEW THE WATER WOULD LEAK AND WOULD NEED REPLACING BUT NOT BEFORE IT CAUSED TIMING CHAIN RELATED DRIVING ISSUES. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH SEVERAL DTC CODES APPEARED ON THE DIC INCLUDING STABILITY SERVICE AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED. VEHICLE SPEED REDUCED SIGNIFICANTLY (20-30MPH) WHILE IN MOVING TRAFFIC AND EXTREMELY BAD WEATHER CONDITIONS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO REPORTED CODES OF P0008 (TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED), P2610 (ECM FAULTS) AND P2101 OR P1122 (NOT SURE BUT DEALER STATED THROTTLE BODY CONTROL ERROR). VEHICLE IS UNDER 5 YEARS OLD (PURCHASED IN AUG 2010) AND UNDER 100,000 MILES TO TIMING CHAIN AND ECM WERE COVERED IN FULL UNDER GM WARRANTY. THROTTLE BODY COVERAGE WAS REMOVED IN 2009 (PER WHAT I'VE READ ON THE INTERNET) AND WAS NOT COVERED. DEALER AGREED TO SPLIT COST (THEY COVERED LABOR, I PAID FOR PARTS AT DEALER COST). GOOD DEAL ON THE WARRANTY AND DEALERSHIP'S HONORABLE EFFORT TO FIX MY 2010 CHEVY TRAVERSE BUT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE TIMING CHAIN AND THROTTLE BODY AND LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC. ONE MONTH LATER TOOK BACK FOR STATE INSPECTION, FAILED BECAUSE NOW POWER STEERING RACK LEAKING ON BOTH SIDES!!?! I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2012. AFTER DRIVING FOR A WHILE I NOTICED A FUNNY SOUND COMING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I TOOK IT TO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND WAS INFORMED MY POWER STEERING WAS LEAKING. I CALLED THE DEALER AND INFORMED THEM OF THE ISSUE. DUE TO HAVING THE VEHICLE OVER 30 DAYS THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT THEY STATED I COULD USE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED. I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH THE DECISION AND THEY PAID HALF OF THE DEDUCTIBLE. SO SOME MONTHS LATER I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH TURNING CORNERS AND INTO MY PARKING LOT. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND I HAD TO USE EVERYTHING IN ME TO TURN THE WHEEL. THIS IS VERY CONCERNING AND SCARY. IT IS ALMOST A YEAR AND I HAVE HAD 2 RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE. THE HEADLIGHT HAS BLOWN OUT. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS HAVE STOPPED WORKING AND I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CHEVY TRAVERSE. WATER PUMP REPLACED IN MARCH 2013, COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HVAC ACTUATOR ALSO REPLACED AT THIS TIME. 2000 MILE TRIP MADE AFTER REPAIR AND UPON RETURN ENGINE SUFFERED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE ON APRIL 2, 2013. DIAGNOSIS CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE 3RD CYLINDER. CAUSE UNKNOWN. OCCURRED DURING MORNING COMMUTE ON HEAVILY TRAFFICKED HIGHWAY. CHILDREN WERE IN CAR WHEN IT STALLED. HAD TO BE PUSHED FROM CENTER LANE OF TRAFFIC AND THEN TOWED TO DEALER. ONE WEEK AFTER CAR RETURNED FROM ENGINE REPLACEMENT, LEAK APPEARED IN HVAC. LEAK REPAIRED AND CAR RETRIEVED APRIL 29, 2013. A WEEK TO THE DAY OF THE CAR BEING REPAIRED, SERVICE STABILITRAK SYSTEM LIGHT CAME ON. POWER STEERING SEEMED NON EXISTENT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED. THIS PROBLEM REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF INTERNAL MODE SWITCH, REPROGRAMMING OF ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE AND TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. CAR RETRIEVED MAY 7, 2013. CAR RETURNED BUT STEERING WHEEL STILL DIFFICULT TO TURN AND SQUEAKS WHEN IN USE. PROBLEM SEEMS TO WORSEN WITH INCREASING TEMPERATURES. ADDITIONALLY, RADIO WILL NOT ALWAYS SHUT OFF AFTER DRIVER DOOR OPENED.
