The contact owns a 2012 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the vehicle stopped abruptly. The check engine, traction control, stability control, and air conditioner warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, while driving 75 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly decelerated. The contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who determined the failure was due to the throttle body. The vehicle was repaired. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The throttle body was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

RECENTLY I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH SHUDDERING WHILE DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. FIRST AT 40MPH AND THEN MORE RECENTLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. ALSO TODAY THE STABILTRACK WARNING LIGHT CAME ON STATING THAT IT REQUIRED SERVICE. RPM'S AND SPEEDOMETER ALSO WOULD FLUCTUATE WHILE DRIVING. THERE ARE MANY VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE THAT POINT TO THE THROTTLE BODY HAVING OIL BLOW BY THROUGH THE THROTTLE BODY AS THERE IS NO CHECK VALVE TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING. I WILL BE CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY TO SEE IF IT FIXES THE PROBLEM. I'VE ALSO SEEN THAT THE BRAKE POSITION SENSOR COULD BE THE CULPRIT AS WELL. I REPLACED THE IGNITION COILS AFTER SEEING THE ENGINE FLUCTUATIONS, BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE SPARKS PLUGS AS THEY WERE RECENTLY REPLACED UNDER 6K MILES AGO. THIS SEEMS TO BE A LONG STANDING AND WIDE DISPERSED ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF VEHICLE. MANY HAVE SEEN THE POWER DROP WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THIS BUG COULD CAUSE THE MASS DAMAGE OF A TRANSMISSION IF THE VEHICLE WERE TO AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFT WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY IF IT WERE TO DROP TO 2ND GEAR FROM 5TH OR 6TH ON AUTOMATIC DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR, THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF. WHEN THIS MESSAGE COMES ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION PANEL, THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES APPEAR: THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, AND SERVICE STABILITYTRAC SYSTEM. AT THE SAME TIME, WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS PEDAL, THE CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE. ALSO, THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. THIS HAPPENS WHETHER YOU'RE DRIVING 5 MILES AN HOUR OR 55+ MILES PER HOUR. THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE NOTICED THAT IF THE TEMPERATURE IS UNDER 40 DEGREES, IT HAPPENS MORE TIMES THAN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS GREATER THAN 40 DEGREES. I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND THE TEMPERATURE DIPS VERY LOW. I DRIVE A MINIMUM OF 300 MILES A DAY M-F AND THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS FLAW. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I HAVE EXHAUSTED ALL OF MY RESOURCES. THE ONLY WAY I HAVE FOUND TO RESET THE TRACTION CONTROL, IS TO PULL OVER, TURN THE CAR OFF, AND WAIT FOR 3-5 MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WILL SOMETIMES CORRECT ITSELF AND RETURN TO NORMAL DRIVING OR IT HAS TO BE TURNED OFF TO RESET. SOME FORUM USERS SUGGEST REPLACING THE THROTTLE DUE TO CARBON BUILDUP. THIS IS CAN CAUSE CONFUSION WITH A DRIVER WHICH MAY RESULT IN A COLLISION.

WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WHEN THE CAR DECIDED TO START SPUTTERING, SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THEN SHUT OFF. THANKFULLY ENOUGH WE WERE ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHAT HAPPENED. AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS THE CAR FINALLY STARTED BACK UP. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO GO ABOVE 20 MPH. WE FOUND OUT THAT THE FUEL PUMP WENT OUT SO WE SPENT THE $300 TO REPLACE THAT. ONCE THAT WAS REPLACED WE THOUGHT WE WERE IN THE CLEAR. ABOUT TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN EXCEPT I WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY DOING ABOUT 70-80 MPH. SAME THING, WAS ABLE TO START IT UP AGAIN AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS, COULDN'T GO ABOVE 40 MPH THIS TIME. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO WE STARTED HAVING P0017, P0018, P0019 TROUBLE CODES POP UP. WE TRIED TO REPLACE THE SENSORS AND THEY WERE STILL POPPING UP. WE CLEARED THEM, ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES LATER THEY WOULD POP BACK UP AGAIN. THURSDAY THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE. IT WAS RUNNING GREAT, NO SHAKING, WASN'T ACTING LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT. THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT WE ARE NOW TO THE POINT THAT THERE IS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL ISSUE GOING ON. THIS IS OUR ONLY VEHICLE, AND WE HAVE TWO KIDS AND JOBS TO GET TO. WE ARE TIRED OF PUTTING MONEY INTO THIS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. MY PARENTS OWNED THIS CAR BEFORE WE DID. WHEN THE CAR IDLES OR I'M STOPPED AT A LIGHT MY SERVICE LIGHTS COME ON. MY TRANSMISSION IS NOW AN ISSUE. I HAVE SPENT OVER 15K ON REPAIRS FOR A VEHICLE I BOUGHT FOR 17K..I WAS LIED TO WHEN I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BEING TOLD I WAS THE 2ND OWNER INSTEAD OF THE 5TH. THE PASSENGER AIR BAG HAS A CODE. I'VE LOOKED ON LINE AND HAVE NOTICED MANY TRAVERSE OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WHERE THE CAR SLOWS DOWN TO A HALT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD OR REFUSES TO GO FASTER THAN 25 MILES PER HOUR. WE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AS A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 4 YEARS AGO AND IT DOES'NT EVEN HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT. THIS IS WHERE I HAVE THE BIGGEST PROBLEM I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE TODAY WHEN A SEMI ALMOST HIT ME WHILE DRIVING BECAUSE THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM COMPLETELY WENT OUT WHICH APPARENTLY IS AN ISSUE ON THESE TRUCKS THAT IS NOT BEING ADDRESSED. I WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY OFF-RAMP ONTO A DANGEROUSLY NARROW SHOULDER WITH MINIMAL ROOM, AND HAD TO COAST THE CAR TO THE END OF THE OFF-RAMP-- AND THEN WAS STUCK AT THE OFF RAMP AT A RED LIGHT IN RUSH-HOUR TRAFFIC. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP, WE REPLACED THE BATTERY AT THE SUGGESTION OF OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEN ABOUT 4 MONTHS LATER, THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED AGAIN AS I WAS EXITING OUR DRIVEWAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND AFTER 4 DAYS OF RUNNING DIAGNOSTICS AND TEST DRIVING IT, THEY FINALLY CONCLUDED IT WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION MODULE. WE NOW HAVE TO PAY $ 1,700.00 OUT OF POCKET TO REPAIR THE CAR, AS WERE ONE YEAR OVER THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY (BUT ONLY 55K MILES ON THE CAR). AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED, OUR TRAVERSE ONLY HAD APPROX. 57K MILES ON IT.

THIS WAS TERRIFYING SINCE CARS WERE FLYING BY ME AND I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE EVEN ON LOCAL ROADS AT SLOWER SPEEDS SUCH AS 30MPH. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FOR THIS? THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS AND FAMILIES ARE IN THESE VEHICLES INCLUDING MINE. I AM ALSO GETTING A CHECK ENGINE CODE FOR TIMING. MY VEHICLE IS JUST AT 70K MILES AND I USE IT AS A DAILY DRIVER TO/FROM WORK AND PRIMARILY JUST IN MY TOWN. FURTHEST I DRIVE IS 20 MINUTES DOWN THE HIGHWAY TO A RELATIVE AND BACK. PLEASE FIX THIS WITH A RECALL! IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE! THE RECALL SHOULDN'T BE ISSUED ONCE THERE IS A TRAGIC DEATH, IT SHOULD BE ISSUED BEFORE!! THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ONCE WITH OUR KIDS IN THE CAR ON THE WAY HOME FROM THE AIRPORT AND ONCE TO MY WIFE ON HER WAY HOME FROM WORK. BOTH ON THE FREEWAY AT 65+ MPH. DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN VIOLENT SHAKING, AND LOSS OF POWER. CANNOT STEER AT 65 MPH THAT IS LITERALLY DEADLY. SERVICE STABILITRAK LIGHT COMES ON, TRACTION CONTROL OFF LIGHT COMES ON, AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT COMES ON. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAD A 6,4,AND 2 YEAR OLD IN THE VEHICLE. THE FACT THAT THIS HASN'T BEEN ADDRESSED AS A RECALL IS ABSOLUTELY ABSURD. I WENT THROUGH 16 PAGES OF COMPLAINTS ON A CHEVROLET FORUM ABOUT THIS ISSUE. HOW MANY DOES IT TAKE BEFORE THE PROBLEM IS ADDRESSED? DOES SOMEONE NEED TO DIE? FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND IT MAY NOT BE WORTH TAKING INTO A MECHANIC AS THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO NAIL DOWN THE ISSUE AND I DON'T HAVE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO POUR INTO A PROBLEM THAT DOESNT HAVE A SURE CURE. ABAOLUTELY RIDICULOUS TO BE DOING FREEWAY SPEEDS AND THEN NOT BE ABLE TO STEER. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS.

VEHICLE WAS SERVICED TWO MONTHS AGO FOR THIS PROBLEM, WHERE AN ALIGNMENT TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM. TWO MONTHS LATER, PROBLEM RETURNED.

I TOOK IT TO DIANE SAUER AND SERVICE MANAGER KEITH SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT AND DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC REPORT. I TOOK MY CAR BACK IN JANUARY 2019 WITH SAME PROBLEM BUT WORSE. SO BAD I GOT OFF THE BY-PASS AND HAD IT TOWED. DIANE SAUER HAD MY CAR FOR TWO WEEKS AND NEVER CALLED ABOUT THE CAR. I HAD TO REPEATEDLY CALL THEM. AFTER TWO WEEKS THEY SAY THE ENGINE WAS GONE. KEITH TOLD GM IT WAS DUE TO LACK OF MAINTENANCE. I PROVIDED GM AND DIANE SAUER WITH ALL RECEIPTS OF MY OIL CHANGE. I BOUGHT THAT CAR FROM DIANE SAUER BRAND NEW!!! I TOOK CARE OF THE CAR AND AFTER SEVEN YEARS THEY SAY THE ENGINE IS GONE!!!! NO WAY!!! I TOOK GREAT CARE OF THAT CAR!!! DIANE SAUER NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS!!!! NOW THE PROBLEM WILL OCCUR WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF IN MID TRAFFIC. IT ALSO COMES ON WHILE IN WARMING ENGINE IN THE MORNINGS. I HAVE TO TURN ENGINE OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES BEFORE IT GOES OFF.

THE FIRST TIME I WAS IN A RESTAURANT DRIVE THRU BUT SITTING IDLE. THEN SEVERAL CODES FLASHED ON MY DASH ABOUT TRACTION CONTROL AND STABILITRAK AND LIMP MODE AND IT STARTED TO STINK. WE TOWED IT TO OUR MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT TELL WHAT CODE WAS CAUSING THE ISSUE SO HE CLEARED THE CODES AND IT RAN FINE AFTER THAT. AFTER A COUPLE ADDITIONAL TRIPS TO THE MECHANIC, WE DID HAVE A COUPLE ISSUES SEEMINGLY RELATED AND HE ENDED UP REPLACING A COIL AND ALL THE SPARK PLUGS. NOW, A FEW MONTHS LATER, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING UP THE ROAD TO OUR HOUSE AND JUST BEFORE TURNING INTO OUR DRIVEWAY, THE SAME ERROR MESSAGES CAME UP ON THE DASH. SHE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND CALLED ME. WHEN I GOT HOME I STARTED THE CAR AND GOT THE SAME RESULTS. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC AGAIN. THIS TIME WHEN THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVED, THE CAR DID NOT START. AFTER IT ARRIVED AT OUR MECHANIC, HE COULD NOT START IT, AND HE COULD ONLY READ ONE CODE AND IT SAID NONDEFINING CODE AND HE COULD NOT DETERMINE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. HE THEN CLEARED THE CODE AND IT IS RUNNING FINE AGAIN. I AM VERY CONCERNED THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY WIFE DRIVING AND SHE WILL BE SERIOUSLY HURT. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE AND CANNOT BELIEVE A RECALL HAS NOT HAPPENED. I THEN ATTEMPTED TO TURN AROUND AND GO HOME AND MY CAR WOULD ONLY REVERSE AND WOULD NO LONGER MOVE IN THE DRIVE SELECTION. IN NEUTRAL THE CAR LOCKED UP AND WOULDN'T DRIVE. I EVENTUALLY DROVE IN REVERSE ILLEGALLY DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN MORNING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. I ENVENTUALLT MADE IT HOME AND LET MY CAR SIT FOR AN HOUR WHILE CALLING FOR ASSISTANCE. WHEN I WENT BACK TO RESTART THE CAR IS ACTING AS IF THE BATTERY IS DEAD. THIS WAS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS WITH 4 CHILDREN INSIDE BUT UNSAFE TO BE STUCK IN TRAFFIC WILL NO WAY TO ACCELERATE IN DRIVE. MY CAR WILL NO LONGER CRANK WITHOUT A JUMP I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT HE COULDN'T SEE THE ISSUE AND RECOMMENDED THAT I SIMPLY TRADE IT IN WHICH ISN'T AN OPTION CURRENTLY.

NOW 3 LATER SAME THING DRIVING HOME FROM CHEERLEADING PRACTICE WITH 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN CAR. I HAVE READ MANY CASES OF SAME THING WITH THIS TYPE CAR ON CHEVY TRAVERSE FORUMS.

I QUICKLY WENT FROM 45 MPH TO LESS THAN 20 ON A FLAT ROAD. SCARED ME BC I HAD MY FAMILY IN MY CAR AND ON A ONE LANE ROAD TRYING TO GET TO THE SIDE SO OTHERS COULD PASS ME.

ONCE WE GOT TO A SAFE SPOT MESSAGES ON THE DISPLAY BEGAN FLASHING, SERVICE STABILTRAK; SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL; PARK ASSIST OFF; TRACTION CONTROL ON; TRACTION CONTROL OFF. TOWED THIS CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN EXORCISM SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER DRIVEABLE. FIRST THING THEY DID WAS REPLACE THE BATTERY. AS THEY TELL IT A BAD / FUNKY BATTERY MIGHT CAUSE BAD THINGS TO THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION MODULE. $400 LATER ISSUES PERSIST. NOW I AM TOLD I NEED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION OUTRIGHT - $5500. THIS JUST CAN'T BE RIGHT. THIS IS BARELY 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH JUST OVER $115K. SERVICED REGULARLY / WITHOUT FAIL. SHAME ON YOU CHEVROLET. I'M BETTING NO CHEV EXEC, DEALER OR MECHANIC WOULD EVER TRUST THIS CAR FOR THEIR FAMILY VEHICLE

TRACTION CONTROL AUTOMATICALLY CAME "ON" BUT SO DID THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. LET THE CAR SIT FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND IT WOULD DRIVE (BUT I DID NOT GET OVER 40 MPH OR FURTHER THAN AROUND THE BLOCK). CHECK ENGINE STILL ON. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT ON THE INTERSTATE AS HAD BEEN ABOUT 15 MINUTES EARLIER.

I WAS DRIVING ON A STATE RD WITH MY TODDLER WHEN UNEXPECTEDLY THE CAR BEGAN TO ABRUPTLY SLOW DOWN. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER CAR THAT SWERVED TO AVOID HITTING ME. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH A MESSAGE ENGINE POWER REDUCED, TRACTION CONTROL OFF, STABILITRACK NEEDS SERVICING. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE LANE AND WITH CARS FLYING BY IT WAS TERRYING TRYING TO PULL OFF SAFELY. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED WHEN I PRESS DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR. AFTER PULLING OFF I IMMEDIATELY TURNED THE ENGINE OFF WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN BUT RECEIVED THE SAME MESSAGES. WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN GEAR IT STRUGGLED TO MOVE. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AGAIN AND THEN WAITED 10 MINUTES. UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BUT NO OTHER MESSAGES WERE DISPLAYED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME AND TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP ON 3/30/17. WHEN I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ON. THE SERVICE ADVISORS CALLED A FEW DAYS LATER AND STATED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY ONLY NOTED THAT THE ENGINE MOUNT NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THIS COULD POSSIBLY HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I PAID BELIEVING THIS WOULD SOLVE THE ISSUE. UNFORTUNATELY IT HAPPENED AGAIN DRIVING ON A CITY RD AND I WAS NEARLY STRUCK FROM BEHIND AGAIN AND STRUGGLED TO SAFELY GET OFF THE ROAD. THIS TIME MY HUSBAND AND 2 OTHER CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS ABLE TO TAKE PICTURES OF THE SAME DASH NOTIFICATIONS AND AFTER GETTING IT STARTED I DROVE IT STRAIGHT TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP ON 3/17/18. I SHOWED THEM THE PICS AND WAS ADAMANT I WOULD NOT GET IN THE CAR AGAIN UNLESS IT WAS FIXED. THEY ASSURED ME IT WOULD BE FIXED THIS TIME. A FEW DAYS LATER THEY STATED THE FUEL PUMP FUEL LINES AND FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. AFTER MY SECOND EXPERIENCE I FOUND SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED.

SO BASICALLY LIKE EVERYONE ELSE IS STATING ALL OF THE SUDDEN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS TRACTION CONTROL OFF/SERVICE STRABILA TRAC AND THE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND YOU HAVE REDUCED ENGINE POWER. MY MECHANIC HAS HAD ME DRIVE STRAIGHT TO HIM EVERY TIME THIS HAPPENS BECAUSE IF I TURN THE CAR OFF THE COMPUTER DOES NOT HOLD THE CODES. HE WAS GETTING A READING OF THE IGNITION COILS BEING BAD. WE HAVE REPLACED ALL SIX IGNITION COILS ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO. TODAY 06/04/18 IT DID IT AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE AND NOBODY REALLY SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM SERIOUSLY OUT OF MONEY TO KEEP EXPERIMENTING WITH REPAIRS AT THIS POINT. GM REALLY NEEDS TO STEP UP AND DO A RECALL. ALSO THESE CARS HAD AN AIRBAG RECALL AND I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THEY FIXED THAT RECALL. MY AIRBAG LIGHT REMAINS ON AND THEY TELL ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG AT MY COST! WHY? DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, A LOUD CLUNK WAS HEARD, THE VEHICLE JERKED, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED, CHECK STABILITRAX AND TRACTION CONTROL MESSAGES APPEARED AND STABILITRAX DISABLED, SPEEDOMETER REMAINED FROZEN AT SPEED THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED. WHILE DRIVING TO SAFE LOCATION TO STOP, VEHICLE APPEARED TO BE STUCK IN A SPECIFIC GEAR THAT IS LOWER THAN NORMAL FOR FREEWAY DRIVING, RPMS WERE MUCH HIGHER THAN NORMAL. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STANDSTILL, VEHICLE APPEARS TO HAVE NO POWER (PROBABLY DUE TO ACCELERATING FROM 0 MPH IN A HIGHER GEAR). I TOOK VEHICLE TO BOWMAN CHEVROLET SERVICE CENTER FOR ATTENTION AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT THOUGH THEY DID STATE THAT THEY SEE ERROR CODES IN THE SYSTEM FOR LOSS OF COMMUNICATION. AFTER TESTING AND TROUBLESHOOTING FOR UP TO 2 WEEKS, SERVICE DEPARTMENT STATED THAT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE ERROR BUT DURING THEIR TESTING THEY FOUND THE BATTERY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ASSISTANT MANAGER OF THE SERVICE CENTER STATES THAT A BATTERY REPLACEMENT MAY OR MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I MADE A CASE (#[XXX]) WITH CHEVROLET BUT THE ADVISER RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT WAS FALSE AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING FURTHER HE COULD DO. THE INFORMATION HE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER IS THAT THEY WERE WAITING FOR ME TO AUTHORIZE CHARGES FOR ADDITIONAL DIAGNOSIS. I DID AUTHORIZE BOWMAN CHEVROLET TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. MY CONCERN IS THAT I AM NOW TAKING BACK A CAR THAT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND ALLOWING MY WIFE TO DRIVE, AND DAUGHTER TO RIDE IN, THIS VEHICLE THAT HAS A KNOWN ISSUE. LUCKILY FOR US THE ISSUE OCCURRED AT NIGHT WHEN THERE WAS NO ONE ON THE ROADS BUT IF IT OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR IT COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. A NTFCN CAME ON THAT ALL OF MY ASSISTS WERE OFF (PARKING, ALL WHEEL DRIVE, TRACTION CONTROL, STABILITRACK). A NTC ALSO APPEARED THAT SAID TO SERVICE STABILITRAK. WHEN I GO TO PRESS MY BRAKE THERE IS A NOISE IN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT "JUMPS" WHEN I GO TO PRESS IT. WE HAVE TAKEN IT AND HAD IT PUT ON THE COMPUTER BUT NO CODES APPEAR SAYING THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAY THE SENSORS ARE FINE. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED SEVERAL TIMES NOW. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR. I AM TOO AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR ANYMORE. IT IS TOO DANGEROUS. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. NO DEALER IS GOING TO TAKE A FAULTY CAR AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH THE LAST TIME LISTED BELOW.

AFTER PULLING ONTO A HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING TO 60 MPH, ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSE CAME ON INCLUDING TRACTION CONTROL, BATTERY, ENGINE LIGHT ETC CAME ON AND MY VEHICLE LOST POWER WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED OFF MY ENGINE AND WAITED 5-10 MINUTES, WHEN I RESTARTED MY ENGINE, THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WERE STILL ON. I PULLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THE VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FASTER THAN 30 MPH SO I MADE A U-TURN IN THE HIGHWAY, RETURNED TO MY HOME, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO UP MY DRIVEWAY. I ROLLED BACK DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND AGAIN WAITED ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, AND WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, MADE A LOOP IN THE HIGHWAY AND FINALLY WAS ABLE TO GO UP MY DRIVEWAY TO RETURN HOME. FYI - I CALLED WWW.SAFECARS.GOV AND WAS TOLD THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE 2012 CHEVY TRAVERSE, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT'S REPAIR EVEN THOUGH THERE WERE 196 COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE FIVE GRANDKIDS AND A DISABLED HUSBAND WHO I HAVE TO DRIVE 80 MILES TO THE DR 2-3 DAYS A WEEK. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY TO FIX THIS VEHICLE AND I RECEIVED ABSOLUTELY ZERO SYMPATHY FROM THE LADY WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE. I GET THAT SHE DOES NOT DO THE RECALLS BUT AS A PERSON WHO NEEDS MY CAR AND WHO IS EXPERIENCING A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, SHE COULD OFFER NO ADVICE AND DID NOT COMPLETE A COMPLAINT ON MY BEHALF. IT WAS OBVIOUS IT WAS NOT HER PROBLEM BECAUSE SHE KEPT REPEATING THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY.... POOR TRAINING AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS. I HAVE WORKED IN GOVERNMENT FOR 20+ YEARS AND I KNOW HOW TO SPEAK TO CUSTOMERS WHO ARE UPSET FOR GOOD REASON, EVEN IF I CANNOT GIVE THEM THE RESPONSE THEY ARE SEEKING, THEY HANG UP THE PHONE FEELING LIKE THEY WERE HEARD.

I PULLED OVER, SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF FOR 5-10 MINUTES, AND RESTARTED IT. NO LIGHTS WERE ON, AND I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HOME. WHILE IN A SLOW SPEED ON A SIDE ROAD, APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING, AND THIS TIME SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. AGAIN THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND ON KEPT DISPLAYING ON THE DCIM. EACH TIME THE VEHICLE RANDOMLY ACCELERATES OR DECELERATES THE DOORS WILL UNLOCK THEN LOCK AND UNLOCK AND LOCK, THE WARNING CHIME GOES OFF RAPIDLY AND THE CAR WILL THEN EITHER DECELERATE OR ACCELERATE. THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF THEN ON THEN OFF THEN ON COMES ON, AND THEN THE CAR IS FINE.

I BOUGHT THE CAR 12/2015. WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED ON ME ON 1-95 WITH MY CHILDREN AND I, WE WERE TERRIFIED. DURING A SERVICE IN 2/2016, I FOUND OUT THERE WAS A 20,000 MILE DISCREPANCY. THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED THE ENGINE BUT THE A/C WAS NOT COVERED IN THE STANDARD WARRANTY. SINCE THEN, I BOUGHT MY CAR TO AUTONATION IN APROX. 12 TIMES. LAST TIME, I BOUGHT THE CAR OVER IN MAY, I DROPPED IN OFF BECAUSE MY CAR WAS SHAKING, GAS WAS COMING OUT THE PIPE AND THEN IT STOPPED AND RECEIVED MY CAR BACK OVER 24 HOURS LATER. WHEN I PICKED MY CAR BACK, I RECEIVED A ESTIMATE OF ATLEAST $3,000 AND WAS TOLD IF I WERE TO GET THE CERTAIN REPAIRS DONE TO THE CAR, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT, MY CAR WOULD STOP HAVING THE PROBLEM, WHEN THE CAR STOPS. AGAIN, THIS MONTH, MY CAR DID THE SAME THING AND THE TRUNK DOOR WOULD NOT STAY OPEN, I HAVE TO HOLD THE DOOR UP WITH MY HANDS. THEN I TOOK IT SOMEWHERE ELSE, THAT REPAIR CENTER, STATED THAT MY COMPUTER HAS PROBLEMS, I NEED A NEW CONDENSER AND COMPRESSOR.

THE VEHICLE DISPLAY SHOWED SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE STABILITRAK AND TRACTION CONTROL TURNED OFF. THERE WAS SOME KIND OF ENGINE LOSS BUT IT STALLED OUT TOO. THIS HAPPENED TWO TIMES NOW! I SEE IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THE TRAVERSE SINCE 2011 MODELS. THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP DOES NOTHING TO FIX THIS. I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH MY FAMILY AND HAVE US GET IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A FORMAL COMPLAINT AGAINST GENERAL MOTORS REGARDING THE 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM. A SAFETY HAZARD AMONG MYSELF AND OTHERS HOME CAN BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IF NOT KILLED. I USE THIS VEHICLE TO AND FROM WORK ABOUT 75 MILES TO COMMUTE THROUGH THE CASCADE MOUNTAINS. WE BOUGHT THIS CHEVY TRAVERSE OCTOBER 2016 AND HAVE REGULARLY SERVICED AND MAINTAINED THE VEHICLE TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITY INCLUDING OR NOT LIMITED TO OIL CHANGES AND TIRE ROTATIONS BUT ALSO POWER STEERING/SUSPENSION WORK. THERE HAS BEEN NO ACCIDENTS OR ABUSE AS A DRIVER. ALL OF A SUDDEN ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AN HOUR DECREASING SPEED AS SHARP CURVES APPROACHING. WITH NO WARNING IT FELT AS IF THERE WAS MINIMAL POWER AND NO CONTROL THE CAR DRAMATICALLY REDUCED FROM 60 TO ABOUT 20 25 MILES AN HOUR, WHILE THEIR VEHICLES BEHIND ME AND HAD TO SLAM ON THEIR BRAKES AS I WAS WAY BEFORE THE ACTUAL CURVES AT THIS POINT IN TIME I NOTICED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AS WELL AS STABILITRAK. AS WE PROCEED IT AROUND CURVES AT AN UPHILL SLANT I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN SPEED BUT DECREASING FROM 25 DOWN TO 10 - 12 MILES AN HOUR. ROUTE 66 ASHLAND OREGON IS DANGEROUS WITH BACK-TO-BACK SHARP CURVES BLIND SPOTS NARROW ROADS AND WEATHER COUSIN FATALITIES EVERY YEAR. LOOKING BEHIND ME A FEW CARS COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN HIT FROM ANYONE COMING AROUND THAT CURVE. A SPEED LIMIT OF 55 MILES AN HOUR AND NOT BEING ABLE TO REACH 20 MPH. THIS MORNING ONCE AGAIN HAPPENED SO I PULLED OVER TO TROUBLESHOOT ONLINE AND I FOUND FROM 2009 THERE HAVE BEEN A SERIES OF COMPLAINTS THAT GM'S MOTORS LACKS RESPONSIBILITY THAT PERTAINS TWO THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM AMONG TRAVERSE AS WELL AS OTHER MODELS. I AM SIMPLY TRYING TO PREVENT MYSELF WIFE THREE CHILDREN AND YOU FROM A POTENTIAL FATALITY OF WHICH CAN BE PREVENTED.

I OWN A 2012 CHEVROLET TRAVERSE, WITH JUST OVER 41,000 MILES. YESTERDAY, WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE, FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THE TRACTION CONTROL / STABILITRAK, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PRIOR TO THAT I HAD NO ISSUES, THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING FINE. I HAVE KEPT IT WELL MAINTAINED AND CLEAN, AND DRIVE AT THE SPEED LIMIT, ON GOOD ROADS. I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE, AND IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THERE ARE NO RECALL NOTICES, WHICH SEEMS UNUSUAL FOR THE NUMBER OF ISSUES. THE TRAVERSE IS A NICE VEHICLE, BUT I HAVE BEEN IN 3 TIMES FOR MANUFACTURER RECALLS REGARDING OTHER ISSUES. GM SHOULD HAVE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, GIVEN THAT IT AFFECTS WHAT APPEARS TO BE MANY MODEL YEARS OF THIS VEHICLE AND OTHERS.

I WAS DRIVING 70MPH ON THE INTERSTATE (WITH MY 4 CHILDREN IN TOW) MY CEL, SERVICE STABILITRAC AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHTS CAME ON. MY SPEED WAS REDUCED TO AROUND 45MPH. I HAD TWO SEMIS BEHIND ME, THE ONE DIRECTLY BEHIND ME HAD TO GET OVER VERY QUICKLY TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME. I PUT ON MY HAZARDS AND TOOK THE NEXT EXIT APPROXIMATELY 7 MILES AHEAD. ONCE OFF THE INTERSTATE I SHUT OFF MY VEHICLE, WAITED TWO MINUTES THEN RESTARTED, LIGHTS AND MESSAGES STILL ON. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE BUT COULD ONLY GO AROUND 45MPH WHILE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT WANTING TO GO. I PARKED IT AT WORK THEN AT LUNCH I DROVE IT ON CITY STREETS AT 35MPH. I PARKED IT AGAIN AT MY WORK. WHEN I GOT OFF I STARTED THE CAR AND STARTED DRIVING, NO LIGHTS OR MESSAGES. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE TO THE INTERSTATE ON MY WAY HOME. WHEN MY VEHICLE HIT 60MPH THE SAME THING HAPPENED, LUCKILY NO VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND DRIVE 45MPH THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR A FEW DAYS. AFTER STARTING AGAIN THE SAME LIGHTS AND MESSAGES APPEARED. I CONTACTED MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF THE SPECIAL COVERAGE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE. I CONTACTED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD MY VIN/YEAR WAS NOT PART OF THE ISSUE AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO KNOWING THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE AND WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST MOMENTS OF MY LIFE. *TR

THE CAR'S ENGINE SOUNDS TOO LOUD. I BOUGHT THE CAR LATE DECEMBER 2015 AND I TOLD THE SERVCE ADVISOR THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE WIRING BECAUSE THE LIGHT BULB NEEDED TO CHANGE, SOUNDS FROM SPEAKERS WOULD BOUNCE OFF FROM ONE SPEAKER TO ANOTHER, THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT GO BACK UP, AND ENGINE WAS LOUDER THAN USUAL. TWO WEEKS AGO, WHILE I WAS ON I-95 WITH MY KIDS, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY SLOWED DOWN ON ME, TRACTION CONTROL AUTOMATICALLY TURNED OFF, THE CAR STATED ENGINE POWER SLOWED AND STABITALK LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS TERRIFIED. I'M ALREADY A VICTIM OF MILE DISCREPANCY AND POOR PROFESSIONALISM FROM THE GM FROM AUTONATION CHEVROLET DELRAY AND I'M STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY VEHICLE. I TOOK MY CAR THERE A TIME BACK IN MAY BECAUSE MY ENGINE WAS SHAKING, I WAS TOLD THEY FIXED MY ENGINE BUT THE CAR WAS STILL SHAKING AFTERWARDS. ALSO THE SEATBELT FOR THE MIDDLE SEAT OF THE SECOND ROW, WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I WENT TO AUTONATION TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE, THEY CLAIMED IT DOESN'T HAVE ENGINE ISSUES EVEN THOUGH THEY DID NOT GIVE ME A COPY OF THE RESULTS OF THE WHOLE DIAGONOSIS.

I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED IN APRIL 2016, WITHIN 72 HOURS I NOTICED IT WAS MAKING SOME HORRIBLE NOISES. MY FAMILY MECHANIC SAID THE IDLER BELT TENSIONER WAS BAD, MULTI MOTOR ISSUES, 2 FUSES WERE BLOWN, 2 BAD WINDOW MOTORS, AC WAS NOT SUPER COLD AND THE AIRBAG RECALLS WERE ALL STILL PRESENT. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER TO GET SERVICED AND ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WRECKED IT IN SERVICE AND NO ONE TOLD ME SO I FOUND IT WHEN I GOT HOME, THEY KEPT MY CAR FOR CLOSE TO 5 WEEKS TO REPAIR IT AND THEN TAKE IT TO AN AUTOBODY SHOP SINCE THE DENT WAS BAD ENOUGH WERE THE REAR QUARTER PANEL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW THAT I HAVE IT BACK, I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTI TIMES WHERE THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT IN THE RAIN. AND TODAY THE AC STOPPED WORKING. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE CASE FOR EVERYONE BUT AFTER RESEARCHING IT, IT DOES APPEAR I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THESE CHEAPLY MADE "AMERICAN" SUV'S. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND ALTHOUGH I MAKE GOOD MONEY- I DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH SAVED UP TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN THE DEALERSHIP AND CHEVY.

THE ERRORS MENTIONED STABILITRACK NEEDS SERVICE, ENGINE POWER REDUCED, TRACTION CONTROL OFF AND OTHERS. I TOOK IT TO O'REILLY AND RECEIVED ERROR CODE P2138. HAD TO PAY OVER 400 TO GET SENSOR REPLACED AT DEALER BUT UPON FURTHER RESEARCH MANY OTHERS HAVE ENCOUNTERED THIS SAME ISSUE AND THE ISSUE KEEPS RECURRING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND SUDDENLY YOUR CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE.

HAD BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED, ALL TESTS CONFIRMED BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR WERE FINE AND THERE SHOULD BE NO REASON THE DASH DISPLAY SHOULD BE SHOWING A LOWER READING. THIS OCCURS AT ALL TIMES, FROM CRANKING, TO IDLING AND DRIVING. AT TIMES THE READING WILL FLUCTUATE INTO THE NORMAL AREA, BUT IT IS BRIEF AND WILL SOON RETURN TO A LOWER READING. THIS OCCURS ALSO AT ALL TIMES ON ALL ROAD SURFACES AND ALL DRIVING CONDITIONS.

THE DISPLAY ON THE DASH SHOWED "CHECK STABILITRACK - TRACTION CONTROL OFF". WE WEREN'T FAR FROM HOME AND LIMPED BACK AT 28 MPH. THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HAD COME OFF. NOTHING ELSE WRONG. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION - TO ALLOW THE CAR TO ONLY TRAVEL UP TO 28 MPH FOR NO REAL REASON. I HATE TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF THIS HAD OCCURRED ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH IN BUMPER TO BUMPER TRAFFIC.

I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT AND THE STABILLITRACK LIGHT CAME ON, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. THE DRIVER CENTER SAID THE TRACTION CONTROL SHUT OFF AND IT ALSO STATED TO SERVICE STABILLITRACK. THE ENGINE SEEMED TO SLOW ITSELF AS WELL. I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. THE WARNING LIGHTS FINALLY WENT OFF ON THEIR OWN AND THE TRACTION CONTROL TURNED BACK ON, ON IT'S OWN. THE CAR SEEMED OK DRIVING HOME FOR 2 MILES AND ENGINE POWER SEEMED TO RETURN TO NORMAL BUT THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME HESITATION IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AT LOW SPEEDS TOO. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE SOONEST THEY CAN GET ME IN TO CHECK THE CAR IS MONDAY. I ASKED IF IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY WOULD NOT COMMIT TO SAFETY OR RELIABILITY BUT REFUSED PROVIDE ANY RELIEF UNTIL MONDAY AND GAVE ME NO OFFER OF A LOANER CAR. I JUST DID SOME INVESTIGATING ONLINE TO RESEARCH WHAT THE CAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM MIGHT BE AND IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND IT CAN OCCUR AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY. MANY FORUMS LIST MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS COMPLAINT. I AM CONCERNED THIS COULD OCCUR AGAIN AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEM LOOKS TO BE INTERMITTENT AND WILL OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING AT ANY SPEED. NEXT TIME ABOUT 5 DAYS LATER THE MESSAGE AGAIN APPEARED WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH GRAND KIDS. THE ENGINE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 20 MPH , WHILE SHE WAS BLENDING INTO TRAFFIC ON A HIGHWAY. HAD TO PULL OVER OR BE RUN OVER BY TRAFFIC . TOOK CAR TO DEALER FOR REPAIR. NEXT THE VEHICLE DEVELOPED A BACKLASH IN DRIVE TRAIN, WHICH IS NOISY. DEALER SAID G.M HAD SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE NOISE AND RECOMMENDED ( DO NOT REPAIR) NOISE IS TYPICAL. IDID NOT HAVE THE NOISE FOR FIRST 20,000 MILES.
